we have a huge mega mentor,

possibly my favorite
that's ever come on this show.

My artists are gonna lose
their mind.

it could be?
I have no idea.

My mind is spinning.

I know it's gonna be big.

Ariana: He is
a brilliant artist,

performer, and musician.

Blake: This season's mega mentor
is none other than Ed Sheeran.

Kelly: So many awards.

Blake: He's an incredible
performer.

He's a guy that actually
builds a track on stage.

Ed Sheeran is probably
one of the A Team.

He is one of the most
streamed artists of our time.

He just fell from the heavens
and landed here

on the set of "The Voice."

Blake: Holy crap!

That's Ed Sheeran.

What's going on?

Ed Sheeran has pretty much
accomplished it all.

He's producer. He's won
any award you can think of.

'Cause our dressing rooms
are right next to each other,

did you hear me performing

I did, yeah.
I was really wanting you

to critique my version,

like,
from a mentor standpoint.

It sounded beautiful, yeah.
It did?

But you are
a professional singer,

so I would expect it
to sound great.

Blake: Ed's a perfect mentor.

He's written songs
for so many different genres.

He can really tackle anything.

Ed: Blake ‐‐ I've met him
a bunch of times,

but I've never actually spent
this much time with him,

so I'm very grateful for that.

I've performed
all around the world

on different "Voice" things,
but never really done,

The big shocker
is that Wendy chose me

to begin with.

for quite some time.

I've been a member
of The Time Jumpers

for two years.
I didn't know that.

The Time Jumpers
are a Grammy Award‐winning band.

It's traditional country music,

and they're like some of
the best musicians

in Nashville music history.

And so it was big news that
they invited me to be a member.

The Time Jumpers never heard me
sing soul music.

Aretha Franklin.

I'm revamping my life.
I always look like

I'm a deer in headlights here
because I am.

I'm like, "Oh, my God."
Aretha's my core.

"Ain't No Way" is the song
I'm singing,

but I grew up watching
"Hee Haw" and "Soul Train."

Me too.

I grew up watching
"Buffy the Vampire Slayer."

Very different.
Really? What about
"The Benny Hill Show"?

Dude, I feel like Americans

just think English people just
drink tea and know the Queen.

So many people,
they're like,

"But you have met the Queen,
haven't you?"

And you're like,

Wendy: I remember listening
to Aretha Franklin.

At eight years old,
I didn't understand the words,

but I understood the feeling
that was coming from her.

She stopped me in my tracks.

I like to be the storyteller.

make the whole room go silent.

Ed: Wendy, as soon she opens
her mouth,

you could feel the temperature
in the room change.

it's pretty emotional for me

because when I went through
stage 4 cancer...

Bloody hell.
...my mom would sing
this song to me

when I was
on the chemo bed.

This is one of the first songs
I ever learned how to sing.

When I was sick and she had sung
that song to me,

I didn't want to hear it.
"I can't see clearly, Mom.

What are you talking, it's gonna
be a bright, sunshiny day?"

But she's always like, "Son,
you need to think this way."

This is the message
you need to hear.

I owe her my victory.

Jonathan's voice
is very vulnerable,

but it's also powerful
at the same time.

He's just an easy guy
to listen to. You can sing! Wow.

It's weird hearing
that from Ed Sheeran,
so thank you so much.

My take on this,

you hear, like,
Beyoncé sing, right?

And you know Beyoncé
can do everything.

But she sings song first
and then,

like, every now and then,
when she does a run,

you're like,
"Oh, my God."

You don't have to necessarily do
all the runs straight away.

You'd sing it straight,
and then when it got to the

kind of slowly ease it in,
and then by the end,

when you're belting it
and it's like, "Oh, wow."

Yeah.
There's nothing I can say

that is better than that
when it comes to advice.

You always need somewhere
