(Sylvester)
Vienna, Austria

home of lady's fingers,
sausages

and lots of fancy
old buildings.

Like this place

the fabulous Hofburg Palace

home of the Albertina Museum

the Vienna Boys Choir

and other historical

and cultural attractions.

[orchestral music]

(Johnny)
'That's a take! And clear!'

Very nice, boys and girls.
Well, let's take a ten.

Did you recognize
that piece of music, Granny?

Oh, the music
sounded wonderful, Derek.

Thank you so much,
and don't you look great?

I'm thrilled that you're here.

(Granny)
'Well, we were going
to be in Vienna'

for the annual
Mozart Festival anyway.

And when I received that
card
form your Aunt Pearl

'I had to see my star student.'

You and your pets
make yourselves comfy

and enjoy the music. Excuse me.

Say, uh, kitty,
don't play with the speakers.

Is that playback ready yet,
Monsieur Harry?

click click click

Here it comes.

[indistinct chatter]

What happened?
I can't hear anything.

Where's the music?

- Can I have that bagel?
- I didn't hear a sound.

Well, what happened, Harry baby?

Salieri's ghost has stolen
the sound of music.

I thought I taw that movie.

[instrumental music]

Salieri's ghost has stolen
the sound of music?

That's right.
The ghost of Salieri did it.

He haunts this palace.

Did you hear that, puddy?
A ghost!

Eeep! Ghosts give me
a tummy ache.

[gulps]
But little yellow birdie

gives me instant
soothing relief.

thud

[birds chirping]

pttoey

Try and eat that bird again

and I'll beat your butt
like a drum, mister.

So what happened, babe?

And none of that Salieri's
ghost baloney either.

[exhales sharply]
I forgot to put in
a new tape.

Well, then let's put
in a new tape.

People, let's get back
to our chairs.

Salieri's ghost. Hm.

Dwanny doesn't appweciate
fawse awarms.

And I don't like food
that talks back to me.

thud

(Johnny)
Nice kitty cat.

See you later, puddy!

Nice kitty.

[grunts]

Welax, kitty. He wikes you.

Oh, boy!

(Granny)
'Looks like you've made
a new friend, Sylvester.'

Lucky me.

[indistinct chatter]

ting ting ting

- Give me some click.
- Beat on eight.

One, two, three, four and..

[orchestra music]

Cut, cut, cut.
Quiet, people, quiet.

Give me an A, Steinberger.

[piano music]

[orchestral music]

Harry, let me hear
the brass section alone, please.

Comin' up.

[instrumental music]

Okay. That's great.

Uh, now, let me hear
the strings and drums.

Okay.

What is that that you boys
are doing exactly?

Well, you see,
Derek asked the musicians

to retune their instruments

and that gives us a chance
to check our sound levels.

- Eh, sound levels?
- That's right.

(Harry)
'Each section of this board'

'is separated
into different tracks.'

Rick's trumpet
creates sound waves

which are picked up
by a microphone

and converted
into electrical impulses.

These electrical impulses
are amplified

and stored
as digital information

either on tape
or on a hard drive

mixed with other audio tracks

and then mastered
onto a compact disk.

A CD player then reconverts
the digital information

back into electrical signals

which drive the speakers
of your stereo system

recreating the same
sound waves

Rick made with his trumpet.

[whistles]

"Vips Nix Top Pics
In Overnight Twip."

Boy, that's a mouthful.

Yes, you are.

Aargh!

Sowwy, puddy, but this cage
is only a one-seater.

[grunting]

(male #2)
'Aw, look at that cute
kitty playin'!'

You look like you want a friend!

[shrieks]

Lucky for you that I know
how to play with cats!

[choking]

It all sounds great
in here, Derek.

(Derek)
'Let's do one, then.
Give me the light.'

Eh, what light?

You see that red light
over there?

Well, we turn on the red light

to ward off Salieri's ghost
while we record.

Salieri's ghost?
I thought you said that..

[laughing]

[instrumental music]

That birdie's beautiful music
to my belly.

[drum music]

Ugh!

- Oh, hold it. That's a mistake.
- Who screwed up, Bobby?

(Bobby)
'Mike, I had a drum
out of sequence.'

Yeah, I thought so.

[groaning]

Over here, puddy!
I saved you a seat!

Thank you very much.

I'm sure.

thud thud thud

Kenny, what's happening
with your case, daddy-o?

Looks like your ghost light
didn't work

very well, young man.

- What's a cat doing in here?
- Sylvester!

Uh, no problem, Derek.
We'll get the cat.

Johnny, could you please remove

'the kitty cat
from the sound stage?'

[instrumental music]

Very good, boys and girls.

Now let's take a ten
and then we'll proceed.

chomp chomp chomp

Sounds pretty good
without the cat.

Speak for yourself. Oh!

Easy, kitty, Stay!

Uh-oh. Here we go again.

screech

I don't like fast food!

[instrumental music]

[drumbeats]

Hey, Ralph,
what are you playing?

[panting]

Dig it, Jackson!

Look, he's a cute cat
and I don't mind you

bringin' him with you,
but, uh, we'll need

to keep him away
from the drums.

Oh, of course, I understand.

Sylvester doesn't act
like this usually.

But he'll behave.

click

And if you don't behave

Hector will have company
at the kennel.

Kennel?

Meow, meow, meow.

Meow, meow, meow.

Meow, meow.

Speak to me, puddy.
What happened?

- The kennel.
- Enough said.

And one, two, three, four and..

[orchestral music]

Meow. Kennel. Meow. Kennel.

Meow. Kennel. Meow. Kennel.

[grunting]

[growls]
At least I'll have a full tummy
at the kennel.

[clattering]

How was that take, sound good?

Uh, I-I don't know, I, uh..

'I think we're gonna probably
have to do that again.'

We have a little
technical problem in here.

[chuckles]
Salieri's ghost.

(Harry)
'Quiet, everybody.'

'Let's take a listen
to the playback.'

[music on speakers]

You know, puddy, they say

music calms the savage beast.

Hmph! Music, smusic.

I'm a prisoner
of my own desires.

Fantastic!

Alright, people,
let's get out of here

and eat some dinner.

[indistinct chatter]

Well, Granny, it certainly
was an experience

having you and your pets
attend our session.

Yes, why, uh, Sylvester--

It was a very nice experience.

Oh, my.
Why, aren't you a sweet boy?

- He's a nice guy.
- Swell.

Besides, you can't control
Salieri's ghost.
