Yeah, I went
into the activities office today,

and we're talking about line of march.
I was like, oh, I wanna do that,

because I wanted to put
all of our friends together.

-Yeah, you did, right?
-Yeah.

[chuckles] That's rad. I'm so excited.

[squeals]

I'm just so excited to graduate.

-and so I come down this first row.
-Okay, good.

I'm in the one closest to the ocean.

Okay, and you are--
Oh, you're in the first row?

Yeah, because Lauren did
the graduation seating,

so she put all of our friends
in the first two rows.

-Okay, which side are you on?
-[Lo] I have no idea.

Okay, it doesn't matter.
Okay, so if we sit around here,

we'll be able to get both of you guys.

-[Lo] Yeah.

So wait, what is the senior video for?

Um. It's gonna be like,
a DVD for everyone in the class,

um, senior class, that just documents
like all the dances we've had, and…

[Morgan] This'll be interesting.

-[Claire] Sit here.
-[Morgan] Okay, cool, oh, pretty.

[Claire] Let's do some simple questions.

All right, where do you hope
to see yourself in ten years?

Married in a beautiful house
in Emerald Bay… [chuckles]

…with, um, who knows,
maybe a kid, but I hope to have like

a boutique at like
a cute little store I'd open, and…

[Claire] So do you plan
on coming back to Laguna?

Oh, yeah, I love Laguna.

I definitely wanna
live here when I'm older.

So where should I put a bag
so that you'll take it with you to where…

you're especially gonna

try to keep in touch with?

Probably just my closest friends,
like I'll stay close with Lo, of course,

'cause she's like my best friend.

I'll probably stay close
with Stephen and Dieter, too,

just 'cause I'm going to college
right next to Stephen,

and Dieter's always been
such a good friend.

[Claire] Do you have
any hopes for our generation?

Um…

I don't know. I think
Trey'll take care of us.

-[chuckles]
-[Claire laughs]

[upbeat song playing]

I seriously cannot wait to see it happen.
I cannot wait to go to school.

And I can't wait
until I come back and visit

next year to see how, like,
all you guys are doing and all that.

Like, just see how everyone's changed.

Polster's finally gonna come out.
Like I can't wait to see that, dude.

[all laugh]

Dude, when we go to college,
the girls are gonna be so much different.

-It's gonna be insane.
-They're gonna be extremely slutty,

-especially where I'm going.
-[Stephen] Not slutty, just experienced.

Just, experienced
is how I like to put it, dude.

And they're so much easier to…

-It's easier to get nasty.
-[Stephen chuckles]

-Just wear a jimmy, maybe even two.
-[all laugh]

[Polster] Are you guys
gonna stay together?

-You're not gonna stay together, are you?

[Stephen] Uh. No.

Yeah, it'll be on hold,
but like we'll still talk

like we're really good friends,

but like it's not going to be talking
every day, like, "What'd you do today?"

Like, trying to make sure we know exactly

what's going on
between the two of us every day,

-'cause that's stupid, you're…
-You're too far away.

College happens once, you know.
You gotta go big and like…

-What's going on with you, dude?
-Me?

[Stephen] What is happening
with your chick?

-You guys'll still be together?
-Dude, 3,000 miles ain't gonna do [bleep].

[Stephen] Oh, well you're definitely
gonna be boning.

300 miles is breaking us up.

Of course 3,000 miles
is gonna break you guys up.

-[Trey] Yeah.
-Dude, I don't know, man.

I think 40 minutes would
probably break me up. [chuckles]

-[chuckles]

So you and Stephen
aren't gonna stay together?

Mm-mm. I guess we'll just kinda
be together when he comes home.

Yeah.

I'm-- I don't want
a boyfriend in college, either.

I'm excited for next year
to be single and just like hang out

with our grade. [chuckles]

If he did hook up with Lauren,

would you be more pissed
rather than if he were to just hook up

-with some random girl?
-[Kristin] Random model girl?

Well, yeah. Yeah, obviously.

Lauren would think
she was, like, really cool, but…

-[Jessica] Yeah.
-She'd be like… [laughs]

And this summer
will be fun with them here. We never…

-Oh, yeah.
-We don't know what's gonna happen.

But like the summer,
might as well have fun with them.

Worst memory? Um…

[exhales] The only one
that kills is just…

probably bad moments
with girlfriends, like…

I wanted to know
if I could do an interview with you.

-[Trey] Sure.

All right, Trey, so how do you feel
about Laguna being called the bubble?

I think you gotta get out,
but you can still love it.

It's definitely the strongest feeling
of safety that I've ever felt in my life.

What's your hope for our generation?

What the hell's better
than a united youth,

you know? A young voice,
a voice for the future, that

that the young people can make sure
that decisions being made today

will benefit them when they live
in the future, you know?

It's a big deal to me,
you leaving high school.

It's like you're my, you know,
my second kid going off to the big world,

-and then coming home regularly.

[Ellen] I'm a little sad, though.

It'll be fine.

You just went
to kindergarten a little while ago.

-I know.
-It's just all too much.

-Are you stressed out? [chuckles]
-I don't think so.

This past year,
I tried out for the musical,

and I got the lead,
so that was a big part

of not only this year, but

it's something that I'll remember
as doing in high school forever, so…

I can't believe we're going to graduation.

I can't believe next
year this is gonna be us.

[Kristin] You know what's weird?

Like with Stephen, I, like,
don't wanna get close to him right now

'cause he's just gonna leave
in two months and it's like--

And I tried telling him that,
and he's like,

"Kristin, just don't think
about it," like…

But it's so hard, you know?

[Morgan S] It's so hard
not to think about it.

I don't wanna get all attached again.

My favorite thing from senior year…

Probably being a senior
in general, and also,

graduation is just the best thing
a senior goes through

'cause you don't ever
have to go back. [chuckles]

That's my best memory,
graduation, right now.

[emcee] Ladies and gentlemen,
I would like to present the class of 2004.

[cheering]

our senior speaker, Jonathan Bernard.

As graduates of Laguna Beach,
we truly graduate from a community,

a place where everyone knows
each other, or at least who everyone is.

Laguna Beach is so visually beautiful,
I feel I live inside a postcard.

I know I took the drive
to school every morning for granted,

going down Park Street
with Catalina in the distance,

and the Pacific Ocean
crashing on the main beach.

Life just doesn't get
much better than this.

This place is so special,
most of us don't want to leave,

even though we know we have to.

Laguna Beach has been our cocoon.

Here, our loving parents
and teachers make sure

we are pampered, protected, provided for,

and promoted to the next level in life.

Today, we leave that cocoon

and we head out
on our own into the real world.

Well, it's over now,

and I'm sure I'm not the first to say
that I'll miss Laguna Beach High School.

Though part of me has been dying
to finish school and move on,

part of me wants to stay here forever.

I think some of you may feel the same.

Congratulations, my fellow graduates.
It's time to shed our cocoon.

[cheering, applauding]

of Laguna Beach High School.

You're on vacation, and you're allowed
to stay in your pajamas all day.

It's just, you're allowed to.

I'm so excited to go to school.

I'm sad to leave this, though.

Boys, boys, boys.

-Boys… Oh, yeah.
-So many new boys.

[Lauren] I mean,
you're gonna meet a lot of guys.

I'm gonna--
I think it's gonna be harder for me

to meet guys
in a fashion major. [chuckles]

Yeah, perhaps.

Well, you'll probably find
some pretty boys in Santa Barbara.

Yeah, I think I'm gonna be on the lookout
for hot water polo players.

Oh, nice.

I might go get something to drink.

Yeah, I'll go with you. I'm really hot.
