Fireman Sam (1987–2020): Season 9, Episode 5 - Magic Norman - full transcript

[BUZZER SOUNDS]

THEME SONG: When he
hears that fire alarm,

Sam is always cool and calm.

If you're stuck,
give him a shout.

He'll be there to help you out.

So move aside, make
way for Fireman Sam,

'cause he's gonna save the day.

Fireman Sam, 'cause
he's brave to the core.

Sam is the hero next door.

Ladies and gentlemen.

The Amazing Normanski!

The crowd goes wild!

Careful, Norman.

Oh.

Ah.

All done, Helen.

Two new batteries
in your smoke alarm

will keep you safe and sound.

After all the fires you've
had, you can't be too careful.

Hey, Sam.

Watch this trick.

Pick a card.

Any card.

Not that one.

Oh.

Um.

Or that one.

Definitely don't pick that one.

Forget that trick.

Watch this.

Abba Kazabba Kazee.

[MUMBLES] OK.

The tricks aren't
quite right yet,

but by this afternoon's magic
show, they'll be perfect.

You are coming aren't you, Sam?

Well, I'd really
love to, Norman.

But the fire
service is expecting

a very important visitor today.

So I need to be
back at the station.

Oh.

[MUSIC PLAYING]

Civilian rescue exam.

Practical test number one.

[WHISTLE BLOWS]

OK, everyone.

Brace yourselves.

Ready when you are, Sam.

Get a grip, Cridlington.

I'm sorry, sir.

It's just that exams make
me really, really nervous.

Whoa!

Oh, Cridlington.

ELVIS: Oh, dear.

Watch this.

Zibbadee Zabba.

Zibbadee Zear.

Watch my egg disappear.

[LAUGHS] Norman,
that's not magic.

I can see the egg
up your sleeve.

What?

No way.

That's not true.

Oh.

No one's ever
going to think you're

a proper magician, Norman.

Oh yes they will, Mandy.

Um, Mandy.

Will you help me?

I'll give you a starring
role in my big finale.

Civilian rescue exam.

Practical test number two.

[WHISTLE BLOWS]

Oh, I hope I
don't mess this up.

Got you, Dolly.

Oh, oop!

Cridlington.

Cridlington.

Sorry, sir.

Here, Norman.

I got you everything you need.

Great.

Thanks, Mandy.

Projector.

Amplifier.

Oh, spotlights.

A boom box.

Brilliant.

This will be perfect
for my magical music.

Oh.

But there's no plug holes left.

My show won't be spectacular
without my magical music.

Why don't you
just use batteries?

Batteries?

But where am I going
to get batteries from?

I know just the place.

There are hundreds of people.

Quick, Mandy.

Get in the box and
don't come out until you

hear me call your name.

You said I'd be
in the grand finale.

This is for the grand finale.

Now get in the box.

Oh, Norman.

It's all dirty and dusty.

Showtime.

MANDY: Oh.

Civilian rescue exam.

Practical task number three.

Penny, you'll fight
the fire from the ground.

Sam, you'll fight the
fire from up high.

And Cridlington--

Yes, sir?

--you'll be rescuing Dolly.

And by rescuing, I don't
mean throwing into a shrub

or dropping into the sea.

Yes, sir.

[WHISTLE BLOWS]

Firefighter Elvis at 100%.

Fire's out.

ELVIS: Dolly?

Hello?

Oh!

There you are.

I'm not going to
fail you this time.

[CHUCKLES] Dolly!

More tea?

Why thank you, your Majesty.

Cridlington?

Oh, dear.

[CHUCKLES]

Um, ladies and gentlemen.

The Average Normanski!

Psst.

Amazing.

Sorry.

The Amazing Average Normanski.

NORMAN: Argh.

[CAT MEOWS]

[SPARKING]

Bobbatee, Bobbatee,
Bibbatee Bat.

I shall now pull a
lion out of a hat.

[CAT MEOWS]

Hey!

Come back, lion.

You've ruined the trick.

[LAUGHTER]

I mean, that was
meant to happen.

Ta-da!

Oh, cool!

He's even got a smoke machine.

Of course I've
got a smoke machine.

And now for my next trick--

[COUGHS] hey, I haven't
got a smoke machine.

Ah!

Fire!

Everybody out.

I'll call Fireman Sam.

MANDY: Help!

Station Officer Steele,
Firefighter Morris,

and Firefighter Jones
all pass the exam.

Now Cridlington.

I've got a bad
feeling about this.

[BUZZER SOUNDS]

Fire at the Flood's house.

[BELL RINGS]

There's a fire at
the Flood's house.

[SIRENS BLARING]

Penny, shut off
the electricity.

OK, Sam.

Elvis, check that
everyone is all right.

OK, Sam.

Is everyone OK?

I think so.

Where's Mandy?

Oh, no.

She's still in the box.

Don't worry, everyone.

I'll rescue her.

Power's off, Sam.

Thanks, Penny.

Mandy?

MANDY: [COUGHS]

Mandy?

MANDY: [COUGHS] Oh!

[GASPS] Huh?

What's happened?

It's all right, Mandy.

Everything's going to be OK.

Come with me.

Oh, Elvis.

Thank you.

There, Mandy.

Safe and sound.

So that's a very good
reason not to overload

an extension lead.

I'm sorry, Sam.

I just wanted my show
to be extra spectacular.

And we would have known
about the fire earlier,

but I, um, borrowed the
batteries from the smoke alarm.

That was a very dangerous
thing to do, Norman.

You must always have working
batteries in your smoke alarm.

I know, Sam.

I'm sorry.

Firefighters, that
was a stellar handling

of a real-life emergency.

Well done.

As for you, Cridlington,---

Yes, sir.

--magnificent
rescue of a civilian.

You've passed the exam
with flying colours.

What?

Oh!

Thank you, sir.

Elvis, that was amazing.

And to thank you, we'd like
to show you a magic trick.

Oh, magic?

Oh, goody.

Yes, please.

Zibbadee Zabba.

Zibbadee Zear.

Watch our egg disappear.

Ta-da!

Oh!

Oh, that was brilliant.

I did it!

I'll get it.

Cridlington.

Whoops.

Sorry, sir.

THEME SONG: Move aside,

Fireman Sam, 'cause
