Fireman Sam (1987–2020): Season 9, Episode 6 - Escape from Pontypandy Island - full transcript

[BEEPING]

[THEME MUSIC]

THEME SONG: When he
hears that fire alarm,

Sam is always cool and calm.

[SIREN BLARING]

If you're stuck,
give him a shout.

He'll be there to help you out.

So move aside, make
way for Fireman Sam,

'cause he's gonna save the day.

Fireman Sam, 'cause
he's brave to the core.

Sam is the hero next door.

Right then, the Pontypandy
Pioneers have arrived.

And how goes it, Ben?

You're all shipshape
and ready to go.

[GIGGLES] Everything is
ready for the Pioneers' trip

to Pontypandy Island.

Oh, you'll have a great time.

Me and Charlie used to
explore Pontypandy Island

all the time when we were young.

[LAUGHS] We were
always trying to discover

new creatures and places to
see who the best explorer was.

Well, I'm definitely the
best explorer on this trip.

No way.

I'm better than you.

No.

I'm the best, you'll see.

I'm going to discover the most
new creatures and places ever.

So ready to set sail?

No, hang on.

We're missing a pioneer.

Where is he?

Coming, Mr. Evans.

I'm just reading "How
To Be a Great Explorer."

Ha!

Explorers don't need books.

They just need to be brave.

And keep their eyes open.

[SIGHS] James and that book.

The fire service is honouring
Sam with a bravery award.

Wow.

Another one?

That's 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6--

um, let's just say it's lots.

It is, Cridlington.

And I was going to present
the award later today.

But Station Officer Steele
has to join me in Newtown

for important training.

So who wants to present
the award instead?

Penny?

CRIDLINGTON: Oh, me, me, me,
me, me, me, sir, me, me, me--

- Uh, Penny?
- Over here.

Me!

Firefighter Cridlington, you
give the speech and present

the award.

But remember, it's a surprise.

Sam doesn't know.

[SEAGULLS SQUAWKING]

PIONEERS: And pull.

Can I go exploring now?

My book says that the
boat must be high on shore

so that it doesn't float away.

Uh, yes.

Quite right.

Pioneers pull the boat
high on to the shore.

I'm off to start the barbecue.

[SQUAWKING]

[TSKING] James and that book.

What was that squawky sound?

Ah, I bet it's a
really strange bird,

and as I'm the best explorer,
I'm going to discover it first.

Wait.

My book has a chapter
all about strange birds.

(SINGING) Sausages.

Oh, sausages.

Who wants some lovely sausages?

La di da.

Uh, Penny, listen
to my speech for Sam

and tell me what you think.

[CLEARS THROAT] It is with
totally brilliant pleasure--

What are you two up to?

Um.

Writing a new song.

Right, Penny?

(SINGING) It is with
totally brilliant pleasure--

doo bee doo.

Yes.

That's right, Sam.

We're making up a
new song. (SINGING)

It is with totally
brilliantly pleasure--

doo bee doo.

Norman, my book says
that the bird you saw

was just a seagull.

Nothing strange or new.

Ha!

James and that book.

You'll have to
find something else

to make you the best explorer.

Ah.

That boat.

I can see a boat, small
and white with a sail.

My book says that the
boat is called a skiff,

like the boat we sailed in.

That is the boat we sailed in.

Mr. Evans, our boat's
washed out to sea.

We're stranded.

[GASPS] What?

We're going to have
to live on the island.

I can't live here.

I'm having fish fingers for tea.

Oh dear.

Oh, what are we going to do?

We're castaways.

OK.

I need to get some grass,
green sticks, and branches.

James, what are you
doing to my sausages?

I'm going to do
some smoke signals.

My book shows you how to
send up three puffs of smoke

in an emergency.

Ooh.

That's very clever.

Watch.

BEN: Three smoke signals.

That means an emergency.

The Pioneers must be in
trouble on the island.

I'd better call Fireman Sam.

[CHUCKLES] No Sam in here.

Now I can write my speech.

[ALARM BEEPING]

There's an SOS coming
from Pontypandy Island.

Penny, take Neptune
to the island

and make sure the
Pioneers are safe.

Right you are, Sam.

[ALARM RINGING]

[GASPS]

[SIREN BLARING]

[SPLASH]

Well done, James, for
making the smoke signals.

You're the best explorer here.

We might even have
time for sausages

while help is on its way.

But I'm the best explorer,
and I'm going to prove it.

I'm going to send the
biggest smoke signals ever.

No, Norman.

Stop.

[GASPS]

[SHOUTS]

Trevor, what do we do now?

Uh.

My book says that in the
event of an island fire

to move away to the shore.

Oh, yes.

Well done, James.

Now, life vests on, everyone.

[SIREN BLARING]

There they are.

Fire!

Fire!

Oh no.

I'm going to need some help.

That's right, Sam.

You check on the tea.

Nothing going on in here.

[ALARM BEEPING]

It's from Penny.

There's a forest fire
on Pontypandy Island.

Elvis, we're going
to need Titan.

[SIREN BLARING]

[ALARM BEEPING]

Everyone, on board.

What about the fire?

NORMAN: Oh, over there.

Look.

It's Fireman Sam.

Penny, take Neptune
and collect the skiff.

[SIREN BLARING]

Let's move in.

Ready, Elvis?

Ready, Sam.

Ben, we need to move
along the island and fast.

PIONEERS: Yay!

Sorry, Sam, for
causing the fire.

I just wanted to be a
really good explorer.

We're sorry too, Uncle Sam.

We didn't make sure the
boat was high enough on shore.

Great explorers know that
safety always comes first.

Right, James?

Right, Uncle Sam.

Surprise!

[CHUCKLES] It's with totally
brilliant pleasure that I--

me, Elvis Cridlington--
am here to give you,

Fireman Sam, a special
award for being brave.

[CLAPPING]

Oh, thank you.

But I don't need an award.

The job I do is an
honour in itself.

I think this award
should go to James.

You showed true bravery
on the island today.

Well done.

Oh, thank you.

But I couldn't have
done it without my book.

Mum, I need you to
buy me an explorer book.

I want an award like James!
