This is a tale... from when
the world was still torn with war.
Deep in the mountains,
there was a quiet village
which knew nothing
of the carnage of war.
However, while this village avoided war
for many years, it was still not peaceful.
Strange and frightening
happenings plagued this village...
Ant these strange and frightening things...
began to happen when this poor
village started to stock up on goods.
Mysterious monsters appeared
seemingly out of nowhere.
They destroyed the
fields and stole the money
and food that the
villagers had stored up.
The villagers despaired and thought that
all hope was lost. Everyone felt this way.
But then it happened...
A goddess-like woman
appeared out of nowhere...
And blessed the villagers with money.
And my, what a help it was!
Thanks to that woman, the
village regained its sparkle.
And the villagers got to work once more.
But, threatening to disturb them...
Were those monsters that appeared every time
the village began to have a surplus of goods.
And in this village, those strange and
frightening things are still happening!

Dororo episode 4 First aired: April 27, 1969
Part Two - The Tale of Yokai [the Spirit] Bandai
With a cruel fate thrust upon him,
he must defeat 48 evil demons
Hyakkimaru departed on a quest to do so.
On the way, he met a boy named Dororo and
the two continued the quest together.
And on the first night of his
quest, along a riverbank...
the two met a mysterious Yokai.
The two entered a village to
learn more about the Yokai.
But the villagers were frightened of them and
they were taken to a woman called "Bandai".
Bandai, claiming the Yokai sent them,
tried to banish Hyakkimaru
and Dororo from the village.
Refusing to comply, the two were bound
and imprisoned in an old basement.
That night, the two were
attacked by a mysterious Yokai...
But they were able to overtake it.
Chasing after it...
Dororo found himself in a place he would
never have imagined... Bandai's room.
Because of this, the villagers
captured him again and tortured him.
And beaten half to death.
Hyakkimaru arrived to save Dororo...
and realized that the Yokai had appeared to
them in the basement to deliver a message.
To prove this theory, Hyakkimaru led
the villagers to the bamboo thicket.
Shall I give it to you?
