"No, I'm not doing it."

So we would talk to each other

growing from there.

we spoke about meeting,

but he had moved
to San Francisco.

San Francisco to stay there,

be with him.

He wanted to be together.

this guy, and his life,

are all pretty believable,

but what if we find out that
this guy's been lying,

and it goes away?

that ten years of my life

saw the real Danny's page,

We're trying to just
kinda consider everything.

so we cannot rule out,
what if this is a woman?

we looked at

was Danny's Instagram.

From doing this
for eight years,

and seeing a lot
of Instagram pages,

like, this one feels
very real to us.

places he's going,

occasionally pictures of him.

- And what's more unusual

is that he is tagged
in a bunch of photos--

all the telltale signs
that this is a real guy,

and it's his
real Instagram page.

- So this was interesting

'cause the most recent
tagged picture,

which was just posted
three days ago,

is by this guy DJ [Bleep],

and so we went to
that guy's account.

It turns out Danny's
friend's name is Anthony.

So we messaged him,

and I said,
"Can you jump in the Zoom,

and we'll explain it
to you?"

- And he said,
"Okay, but not with video."

- Okay.

- And so he joined our Zoom
but just talking,

and he said he's never heard
Danny mention

anyone named Stephanie,
and eventually he hung up.

- It's bizarre.
- Right.

- So it's, like,
what are you hiding?

- Right.
- In all of the time

that you've spent
talking to Danny,

he's never mentioned
his friend Anthony?

- No, the only best friend
that he's ever brought up

was the one that died,

but that was it.

- Well, a couple minutes later,
I got a call back,

and this time the guy
on the other end said,

"Hey, this is Danny.
I just spoke to Anthony,

"and he told me you guys
wanted to talk to me.

What's going on?"
- Uh-huh.

- And I explained
the whole situation.

Essentially what he told us
was, "Okay, well, I'm Danny.

"I'm not sure
who Stephanie is.

I'm definitely not the one
talking to her."

- [sighs]

- And then after
we talked to Danny,

we didn't know
if he was telling the truth,

but we searched the number,

and it actually does come back
registered to Danny

or Daniel [Bleep].

- [sighs]

- You know, there's a lot
of information

suggesting that
Danny's a real person,

who looks like he looks,
and does what he does,

and lives where he lives.
The problem is,

that guy doesn't seem to be
the person you're talking to.
