Catfish: The TV Show (2012–…): Season 4, Episode 4 - Daisy and Marcus - full transcript

After helping with troubles at home, a man refuses to speak to his love interest on the phone.

>> Okay.

>> Yeah.

>> I, like, don't even want

to look anymore.

[cell phone rings]

>> Handheld?

>> Hello?

You're here.

>> Oh, my God.

Oh, my God.

>> Time to face the music.

Hi, I'm Nev,

and I'm jumping into the fourth

season of Catfish.

>> I'm gonna have

a heart attack.

>> But starting off,

things are a little different.

We don't have Max.

>> Action!

>> My co-host is directing

We Are Your Friends,

his first feature film,

starring Zac Efron.

So for five episodes...

>> 'Sup, Nev?

>> Hey, man.

I'll be on the road with

guest partners.

>> Catfish!

>> What's this?

A TV monitor?

[gasps] Whoa!

>> But the mystery...

Foot fetish.

>> [gasps]

>> Don't you follow no angry

black man into their house.

>> Deception...

>> This could be the biggest

family betrayal this show

has ever seen.

>> Forgiveness...

>> There might be hope for you

if you are honest

from the get-go.

>> And shocking twists

are back.

We don't know what the hell's

coming out of that house.

>> What the [bleep]?

>> This is Catfish: The TV Show.

Welcome back.

My dear friend and co-host,

Max, is hard at work making

an epic, awesome movie.

But in the meantime, I have

a friend with me who's gonna

help me out this week,

and you probably recognize him.

He's sort of the king

of YouTube.

Say hello to my good friend...

>> Hi.

>> Tyler.

>> Well, hello, everyone.

My name is Tyler Oakley, and--

I am in my pajamas.

And figure out what I'm wearing

for the red carpet because

we literally just hit

5 million subscribers.

Later.

Hi, y'all.

Thank you for having me.

>> Tyler obviously knows a lot

about individuality

and online communication,

which are obviously issues that

we deal with a lot on the show,

so I just thought

it would be a really good fit.

>> Yeah.

>> Let's do this.

Ooh, look at this subject.

Very poetic, from Daisy.

"Lost from Unspoken Words.

My name is Daisy.

I'm 22, and I currently reside

in Indian Trail, North Carolina.

I am writing you because I met

a really hot guy named Marcus

on Instagram."

>> Oh, no.

>> "He caught my eye the moment

I came across his page early

in the summer of 2012, and ever

since then, Marcus being a part

of my life makes me feel

complete.

>> * This is coming between us

* And I know you wanted

* To leave

* Yeah, I know you wanted to

>> I've had to deal with a lot

of personal tragedy.

Marcus has been there for me and

makes me feel alive and amazing.

Marcus lives in Cincinnati

and does film and video

production on the side."

>> He seems great.

>> Yeah.

>> I would date him.

>> "My relationship with Marcus

is beyond special.

I'm more than sure he's the one

for me."

>> Whoa.

>> * Yeah, I know

* You wanted to

>> "But we've never actually

spoken to each other

on the phone"?

>> Red flag number one.

>> Max and I have a theory

about this.

If Marcus says he's a guy

but you haven't spoken to him

on the phone, it's probably

'cause he's a girl.

>> I'm ready for this

plot twist.

>> "I'm messaging you now

to find out why we can't

progress in our relationship.

His refusal to answer or meet

has left me questioning,

are you who you say you are?

His looks got my attention,

but now the feelings are real.

I need to find who Marcus really

is and know his true feelings."

>> They've never talked?

>> Wait a second, wait a second.

>> To me--

>> He does video production,

and he can't send--

>> Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, wait.

>> He can't video chat with her?

>> I am thinking this person

is fake.

>> And I don't even know if

it's a guy.

>> Whoa.

[laughs]

We are in deep, y'all.

>> We just got started.

>> Let's meet Daisy.

>> Let's get her on the horn.

Hey.

>> Hello.

>> I love your hair.

>> What do you call that?

>> It's like a Pink mixed

with a Miley.

>> Ooh.

>> Yes.

>> You're in North Carolina?

>> Yeah.

I just recently moved here

from New Jersey.

Trying to, you know, kind of

figure myself out.

I'm living with my mom.

I had some personal issues, so--

Just, like, my father passing

away and--and my sister passed

before that.

I keep as positive as I can

about it.

>> Let's talk about Marcus.

>> Well, in, like, the summer

of 2013, I was just, like, on

my Instagram.

I saw a really hot guy.

I really liked his posts.

I found, like, similar

interests.

So we mutually added one

another.

He asked for my number, so I

gave it to him on a comment,

and then I, like, took it down.

>> Last summer, had they not

introduced direct messaging

yet on Instagram?

>> No, so all flirting had to be

public.

>> Right, so you exchanged

numbers, and he started texting

you?

>> Yeah, we've never talked to

this day, like, on the phone.

>> And never video chatted,

never called?

>> No.

>> It's pretty crazy.

>> I know, tell me about it.

>> What is it about this guy

that you like so much?

>> He's always been there

for me.

It was so amazing to have

somebody text me when I couldn't

talk to nobody.

He was always just, like,

that text away from me.

>> What would you sort of

ideally like to happen?

>> I want a relationship.

[laughs]

I want a ring on my finger.

>> Wow.

>> I, like--I need answers.

>> Well, so then I guess

if you're ready--

>> We're ready.

>> And you're ready...

>> Yeah, let's do this.

>> I'm ready.

>> So we'll see you really soon.

>> Thanks, Daisy.

>> All right, bye.

>> Girl...

>> I mean...

>> She's found somebody

who "gets her."

She just wants to meet who has

been there for her.

>> I would say there's a very

good chance it's a female.

>> Well, anything can happen

on Catfish.

>> All right, well, look.

We got a long flight and a lot

of work to do.

>> Let's go.

>> Let's do it.

Here we go.

Arrive: Charlotte.

>> * Cast away from the train

* I can give you

* Set fire to the night

* See ashes fall

* Set fire to the night

>> There's, like, a tiny bit

of me that thinks that she might

be about to meet the real deal.

Like, he might be real.

>> Really?

>> Yeah.

>> There's, like, zero...

>> Chance.

>> Supporting evidence

that he's legit.

>> I know.

>> Okay, so you're filling in

for Max.

You have one official duty...

>> Okay.

>> Which is to operate

the Max cam.

>> Okay, always on myself.

[doorbell chimes]

>> all: Hey.

>> Come in.

>> Come out.

>> How are you?

>> I'm good, how are you?

>> Hi.

>> I love your hair.

>> I love your hair.

>> I told you guys you would

get along.

>> Twinsies.

>> Come on in, fellas.

>> Yeah, all come in.

>> I like the--we have similar--

Yeah.

>> My hair used to be

completely, like, down to here.

>> Oh, this is a good look.

>> So--is it?

>> If you've got the face,

you don't need the hair.

>> Aww, thank you.

>> You've got the face.

>> Oh, take a seat.

>> You lived mostly, as a child,

in New Jersey?

>> My whole life, born

and raised.

>> What was the first sort of

traumatic thing that happened

in terms of your family?

>> Right before entering

my senior year, my sister,

she crashed on a bridge pillar

and was just killed instantly,

car burst in flames

and everything.

>> Wow.

>> Yeah.

>> What happened to your dad?

How did he pass away?

>> This is the story

that happened.

I was in a relationship

with a girl.

And my parents kind of

were, like, slapping the [bleep]

out of me, like,

"What the [bleep]?

We didn't raise you like this.

What is this?"

Like, "You're not gay."

She was supposed to come

to my house, and we were on

the way, and we were gonna go

pick her up.

It was my mom, me, my sister,

my brother.

She was waiting for us

at the train station, and she

says, "I can't come over."

She was afraid of my family.

So my mom was just livid.

So they all leave at this point.

My mom, my brother, my sister--

they go home.

They found my dad, like,

on the floor because he had

an aneurysm and a stroke

at the same time.

And so they said that if they

never dropped me off, that my

dad would be alive, so they

blamed me.

My mom was just like,

"You're a [bleep] piece

of [bleep]," you know?

Basically like, "If we never

dropped you to see your

girlfriend, your father would

still be alive."

And I heard that.

And, like, I broke down.

I com--I completely broke down.

I didn't know what to do.

>> Why do you live there?

>> I don't have anywhere else

to go.

>> This guy that you've been

talking to on the Internet is

sort of the most tame, normal...

>> And stable.

>> Grounded and stable thing...

>> In my life, yeah.

>> That you've ever had.

>> He knew what to say,

you know?

He knew how to, you know,

measure up and deal with me

handling, like, a personal

death.

>> He's been there for that.

>> He's been there.

>> And he's responded in ways

that you needed.

>> Yeah, I want that just as

much in person than I do, like,

through texting.

>> What do your friends think

about the situation?

>> They don't know what's going

on completely.

>> Right.

>> I've actually, like,

spent money on him.

>> What does that mean?

>> What kind of money?

>> Like, I've probably spent

at least 2 grand worth.

>> On what?

Buying him gifts.

>> Has he ever sent you

a picture of him with the stuff

you've sent him?

>> No, never.

>> Not even, like, of the stuff?

>> No, he's only done it once.

Like, when I sent him the

biggest box--I got him, like,

a $1,000 camera.

>> Whoa.

>> Yeah.

>> A camera that can do what?

Take a picture?

Take video of himself?

>> Like, take videos--yeah,

like, a Canon, like, the big,

nice ones...

>> What?

>> That are, like, this big.

>> But he knew you didn't

have money.

It wasn't like...

>> I've only sent him money

once.

>> Ooh.

>> I sent him a money order

of $100.

>> But he never sent you

a thank-you note?

>> No.

When my birthday came around,

I asked him to send me

a birthday card, and he couldn't

even do that.

So, believe me, how devastated

I was.

>> I mean, girl...

>> Come on.

Wait, hold on, time out.

When you buy him things,

you have--you send them to him?

>> Yeah, in Cincinnati,

and I've done the phone number.

It gave me a lady's name.

>> That's a bad thing.

>> All right, so you know

this guy's hiding something.

>> Obviously.

>> Has to be.

Okay.

>> So that's him.

He's cute.

>> The good news is there are

a lot of pictures here.

So then, like, show us your

text messages.

Here's one.

I definitely see why

you like him.

>> [laughs]

>> He said, "I'm still here,

you know."

You said--

>> "You're only there when it's

convenient for you.

Ask yourself truly, have you

been there when I needed

someone the most?"

>> And he said, "We live so far

away for it to be any different,

and I told you at the beginning

I don't know how that was going

to work, and I have a lot going

on with my own [bleep] life."

>> I don't really feel like

reading that message.

>> Can I read it?

>> You can.

>> "Dealing with negative

emotions isn't something

I handle.

Darkness consumes me, and I feel

like I can't escape.

I just want someone to help me,

Marcus, and I guess I put you

on a high expectation, and for

that, I apologize."

>> It's sad.

>> Yeah.

Wait, that wasn't that long ago

that you wrote that.

Do you feel like he's there

for you or...

>> Yes and no, because I don't

have that physical-ness.

There's planes, cars, trains,

you know, like--

>> Phones.

>> It's sad, it's sad, like,

to live like this.

>> You feel, like, alone and

like--like nobody's there for

you and...

>> Yeah, completely.

>> You've had a lot of loss.

You need somebody that you can

talk to, and this is that person

for you.

And you may have to face

the reality that it may

not turn out to be the guy

in the pictures, and this

relationship might have to end.

>> I'd rather risk it all,

truthfully.

>> Then let's do it.

>> Let's do it.

>> Let's.

I'm excited and nervous

at the same time.

>> We'll be in touch.

I scrolled for 30 seconds

and stopped, and it landed right

on a very emotional exchange

that I think is probably just

one of hundreds that they've

had over the course of

the last--

>> I feel like that's a weekly

occurrence.

>> But that is so telling

to what this relationship

is for her.

It's--it's this one person that

she can really vent or open up

to about something

that's bothering her.

Not talking on the phone,

like, that's just--

>> That's the one thing where

I'm like, "Okay, well, for sure,

it's not him."

>> To me, it has all of the

construct of a catfish.

>> Step, step, skip.

>> [laughs]

>> All right, here we are.

>> Oh, I love what you've done

with the place.

>> Thank you.

Daisy and Marcus.

So they found each other

on Instagram.

They started chatting,

quickly exchanged numbers.

>> She disclosed her number.

A person contacted her.

>> Right.

Here's a situation where

there is literally no excuse.

>> He has a camera

that was gifted by her.

>> He's got the camera

that we know he got.

>> Has a smartphone for social

media.

He's not who he says he is.

Maybe he's a woman.

Maybe he's married.

>> We've got a real mystery.

>> We do.

>> Let's plug the old laptop in.

>> Oh.

>> First let's go to the email,

'cause she sent me an email

with the info that we needed.

Here we go.

>> Marcus's info.

>> Let's start

with the phone number.

Copy, paste phone number

into Spokeo.

Here we go.

>> What if we just get something

right now?

>> Here's a hit.

>> Okay.

>> The phone number

is registered to someone named

Sandra.

>> Uh-huh.

>> Okay, so here's what's weird.

It comes up as a home phone.

She's been texting Marcus

at this number.

>> Mm-hmm.

>> So we know it's a cell phone.

So if it shows up

as a home phone, it's usually

because it's a Google Voice,

or, like, an Internet phone

number.

>> Got it.

>> So that would suggest

that this person--

>> Is being sneaky.

>> Because they're either not

in Cincinnati and they wanted

a Cincinnati area code 'cause

you can select your area code

anywhere

or they have a second phone.

>> Do people do that?

>> Yes.

>> Oh, my God.

>> They do.

Let's see if we can just find

Sandra on PeopleSmart.

Oh, there's a Sandra who has

a relationship to a Marcus.

>> To three boys, three boys.

>> Wow, Matthew and William.

>> These are her sons.

Wait, that's probably his mom.

>> This is great, yeah.

This is great.

I mean, almost for sure,

this is the guy.

And it would make sense

that his phone number's

registered to his mom.

>> Under his mom.

>> Family plan.

>> Yeah.

>> Here we go.

We got Marcus,

and he can be clicked on.

>> Oh, my gosh.

>> Here we go, opening a new

tab with Marcus's

PeopleSmart info.

>> This is--25.

>> Wow, Marcus, age 25.

>> That's great.

>> This is incredible.

We now know his full name.

We probably got his mom's name.

>> We've got siblings,

we've got a dad, we've got--

>> I got to say, this is all

actually kind of amazingly good.

What we don't know is, is the

Instagram page that he's using,

which does not say his name

is Marcus, is that him?

>> Does it not say that?

>> No, it just says--doesn't--

I don't think it has a--oh,

that's his last name.

Wait, then this is him.

But why wouldn't he talk to her?

Wait a second.

>> What?

>> It is this simple.

Marcus is the guy in the

pictures.

This is his Instagram account.

He is a videographer.

It's just not who she's

talking to.

Some random person saw

her number on a photo

that she posted it on

and has been texting her.

Marcus is a real dude.

>> Yeah.

>> She's just never

talked to him.

>> Oh, my God.

>> She's been talking to some

rando guy or girl.

>> I think it's somebody close

to him.

>> The fact that the phone

number is connected to the

family...

>> Right.

>> Implies that somebody--

>> Something is happening

within that house.

I think it's the brother.

Older brother

resents his younger brother

for how he gets all the parents'

attention.

He's not getting any

girlfriends.

Now he's using his little

brother to finally get a girl.

>> But why wouldn't he talk

to her?

>> 'Cause who knows if he'll

slip up, I don't know.

>> It's not a coincidence

that the phone number she's

texting is registered to Sandra

[bleep], who is maybe

Marcus's mom.

>> What if it's the mom?

>> What if it's the mom?

>> What if...

Scandal.

>> And that would be really bad.

>> Yeah, I--the biggest reason

for somebody to not talk to her

on the phone is it's his mom.

>> Wow, okay, so hold on

a second.

So let's just recap.

Against all odds, Marcus seems

to actually be the guy in the

pictures of the Instagram

that she is talking to.

Here's what's not checking out.

The guy that she's been texting

with--

>> The person she's been

texting with.

>> The person she's been texting

with sends her very few photos,

never including his--his or her

face and won't talk to Daisy

on the phone.

>> Mm-hmm.

>> So that leaves a few

interesting possibilities.

There is still a chance

that Daisy is actually talking

or texting with Marcus,

this guy.

He's just a flaky, lazy...

>> Rude.

>> But emotionally supportive

guy.

>> Whatever.

>> Possibility two, somebody

in his family--

>> Yikes.

>> Maybe a brother, maybe the

mom saw that she posted her

phone number and somehow

intercepted and started

texting her, and she never

looked back.

>> Whoa.

>> If it's somebody in that

family, then in a weird way,

it's very similar to what

happened to me.

>> Right.

>> Because a woman was taking

all of the details about her

daughter and her older daughter

and kind of putting it all

together to make the ideal

version of herself a lot.

>> Which would be a huge blow

to Marcus and to Daisy.

>> Right.

>> This could be the biggest

family betrayal this show has

ever seen.

>> All right, here we go.

[phone line rings]

>> Hello?

>> Hello.

>> Hi.

>> We have a lot we want to talk

about, so where are you?

>> Great.

Anybody else over there?

>> Okay, we'll be over there

in a little bit.

You knock.

>> Stop that.

I'm gonna kill you.

>> Hello.

>> Hi.

>> Hello.

>> Sorry it's gloomy outside.

>> Hi.

>> Hi.

>> Comfy.

>> It's a comfy space.

>> Okay, how's everyone feeling?

>> All righty.

>> All right.

>> So you're--

>> Daisy.

>> The other Daisy.

>> And you're from Honduras?

>> Yes.

>> I'm sure you understand

the reason that we're here.

>> Yes.

I just call him the Ohio man.

>> And how do you feel about

meeting people online?

>> I don't like the idea.

You don't know who you

dealing with.

>> What do you know about him?

>> That I pay the bills for it.

>> Wait, which bills?

>> Gifts.

>> Oh, really?

Well, you didn't tell us that.

>> The actual gifts themselves?

>> You told us that you sent

him things.

>> Yeah.

>> But that...

>> But I mean--

>> Sounded like you bought them.

>> Yeah, well, I have worked

to buy them.

>> Okay.

>> But if I need for my mom

to help me to get something,

like, my mom has.

>> Well, that's very nice

of you.

And then, does she pay you back?

>> I have.

You can't say no, that I

haven't, Mom, 'cause that's

totally--

>> When it is less than $100,

she will.

She's not doing it anymore.

She's not allowed.

>> Sure.

>> Yeah.

>> What do you think about

Marcus, from what you know?

>> I want to say maybe he's a

nice guy, but the way things

have been, it can go either

way.

>> Are you aware of the fact

that Daisy's never actually

spoken to Marcus on the phone?

Did you know that?

>> No.

>> Do you guys talk about things

a lot?

>> No, I think we're okay

like that, the--the way we are.

She lives her own way.

I live my way.

>> When our dad died,

that messed her up a bit.

She was Daddy's little girl.

She was young at the time.

She was not even 18

at the time yet.

Not having that person around,

it--it messes you up.

>> The day that my husband had

the aneurysm, I was stuck

on the highway taking her

to the train station.

It's depressing.

We were very close with my

husband.

>> Do you think it would be

good for her if this

relationship maybe--

>> No, because I think

he's using her.

>> You think he's using her?

>> That's what I see.

Maybe the guy is married.

You don't know.

>> I think she was looking

for a friend.

If you can't really talk to

your own mother, you're gonna

go to the one person that's not

gonna really judge you for the

things you do or say.

>> Do you feel like there's

a lot of judgment between

you guys?

>> Yeah.

>> There's always been judgment.

>> Yes.

>> As far as Marcus goes

or with guys in the future--

>> She's got no future with him.

>> You don't think she has

a future with Marcus?

>> Of course, she doesn't know

who the heck he is.

He has been using her.

That's the other side that she

doesn't want to see.

That's the other side.

That's the truth.

>> Honestly, nobody believes

in her.

Nobody believes in her but me.

>> I long for my mom's approval.

>> Yeah, but do you really want

to be the daughter living with

the mom for, like, the next

20 years?

You're gonna go crazy.

>> I already am.

>> We have a lot we want to talk

about, so let's head out.

[slow techno music]

*

>> And my mom has this full

image of what I'm supposed

to be or, you know, what she

wants me to be.

>> That's an impossible,

impossible standard--what your

mom thinks you should be.

>> And not just your mom.

*

>> So I think we should go

through everything that we

found.

Before we do that--[exhales]

Deep breath in.

[inhales and exhales]

We should get into it.

The first thing that we looked

at was the phone number

that you have for him...

>> Mm-hmm.

>> Which you had done.

Tell us if this is the

same woman.

>> Yeah, that's the same name

that I saw.

>> The phone number

is registered to a woman

named Sandra, who is the exact

right age to be Marcus's mom.

So then we went to her page.

This was the first place

that we saw relatives:

Matthew, William, and Marcus.

Now we have confirmation

that the phone number

that Marcus uses is connected

to a woman

who's likely his mother,

the same last name.

We now know his full name.

>> Okay.

>> So then interestingly,

when we went to his Instagram

account,

we saw this, his last name.

>> I never understood

what that meant.

>> He's the guy in the pictures.

This is his Instagram account.

But if he is this handsome guy,

why hasn't he called you

on the phone?

Why haven't you seen his face

in a video?

What could possibly explain

why this guy wouldn't let you

know that he is who he says

he is?

>> Who he says he is.

>> And I want to know.

>> So one theory I would say is

it's exactly who you think

it is.

Maybe he's just phone shy.

Maybe he just doesn't want

to take a picture of himself.

>> But then why haven't we met?

>> Which is a valid response.

>> So as we thought about it

more, what if maybe somehow

his brother saw that post

where you gave him your number,

and he texted you?

>> Posing as Marcus.

>> He may be married.

He can't talk.

He certainly can't send you

a picture.

The other possible scenario--

it could be his mom,

as crazy as that sounds.

>> Whoa.

>> I think the biggest thing

pointing to this is the fact

that he won't get on the phone.

And if somebody

won't get on the phone,

what about their voice

are they hiding?

>> That's a shock.

I'm, like, scared, honestly.

So what do we do?

>> Normally I would say

I'd call him, let him know

that he's got an opportunity

to finally meet you.

>> I mean, that--that should

be great news.

>> Mm-hmm.

>> And see what he says.

>> I want him to know

that the other person who he's

talking to completely has

feelings and that you can't

sit here and avoid this anymore.

This is happening.

This is the moment.

>> Okay.

Let me see if I can get him

on the phone.

>> Let me see if I can get him

on the phone.

>> No.

>> At the tone, please record

your message.

>> Marcus, it's Nev from

Catfish.

I am with Daisy,

and she would obviously love

to meet you.

Call me back at this number,

and hopefully we will talk soon.

Giving up on Marcus for now.

Hey, guys.

>> Hey.

>> So, as suspected, I was not

able to get through.

I left him a voice mail.

>> Okay.

>> However,

there is another option.

You've sent him a lot

of things to an address.

We could just go there

and find him.

>> Oh, gosh.

>> Maybe we have a phone number

for his mom.

I'll call his mom.

I don't care.

>> Okay.

>> Let's do it.

>> 100%.

>> 100%.

So that is the plan.

>> Oh, my God.

[phone chimes]

>> I just got a text from

Marcus.

"I feel so [bleep] about

everything, and I'm not mentally

ready to have my personal life

on television.

I will meet Daisy on my own

terms."

Whoa.

Cincinnati, it's a long way

to go for nothing

if he just disappears or doesn't

answer our calls.

I don't know.

We're gonna have to figure this

out in the morning.

>> Hello!

>> Good morning.

>> Good morning.

>> I got one text back from

Marcus last night that just

said no, I don't want to do

this.

>> Regardless if I have an

answer, I'm gonna make it more

of, if you couldn't come to

terms with meeting in my face,

I was there.

I will walk away knowing

that I was a brighter woman

because of it.

>> And at least you tried.

>> And I tried,

completely tried.

>> I think that's valid.

>> Honestly, 'cause this is my

breaking point.

This is where, like, I need

to let go.

[upbeat music]

*

>> Oh.

[cell phone rings]

>> Is that him?

Yeah, hey, what's up?

Is this Marcus?

>> It's Marcus.

>> Shh, it's a guy.

Hey--hey, dude, how you doing?

>> Why does it suck?

>> Let me put your mind at ease

a little bit.

Daisy's a pretty rad chick,

and she wants to meet you.

So, like, I think it would be

awesome for you guys to meet.

I don't really think that it

has to be so complicated.

I just walked over to Daisy.

I'm standing with her now.

>> First-class customers...

>> Hold on a second, hold on

a second.

Sorry, I'm trying to get away

from announcements.

Say hi.

>> Hi.

What's up?

Are you not excited or...

>> Well, then, can you own me

the opportunity to tell me

what you're telling me right now

in person?

>> Daisy really wants

to meet you.

We want to meet you.

It's all positive, and we're

really hopeful that this

works out.

All right, thanks, dude.

I guess we'll see you soon.

All right.

>> He's still not into the

whole TV show idea.

>> * You can't hide *

* Blissful ignorance

* You can't hide from me *

>> Hi.

>> We made it.

>> And we are here!

>> Thank you.

>> Heaven.

[cell phone rings]

>> Oh!

>> Is that him?

>> Yeah, this is him, this is

him, this is him.

Hello?

Hey, Marcus.

How you doing, buddy?

>> Is there any specific reason?

>> * Never perform

* A death-defying act

* And I won't fall *

>> Would you be up for maybe

meeting up later?

>> So, I mean...

Yeah, man, later.

>> * I'm everything *

>> I just feel like--

I don't know.

Even if you were battling

it against yourself, I would

just take that risk.

>> * A name

* Let me remain

* Let me remain

[phone chimes]

>> I just got out of a yoga

class here in Cincinnati.

And I have a text message

from Marcus.

And it reads, "I've been

stressed.

I feel that Saturday, I'll be

prepared and in a little bit

more of a comfortable mind-set."

All right, well, I guess we'll

just have to wait till tomorrow

to find out who Marcus is.

[knocking on door]

>> Hi.

>> Hi.

How you feeling?

>> I'm, like, nervous right now.

>> Well, here's the update.

Last I heard from Marcus was in

the evening last night.

He basically said, "I'm just

now kind of starting to feel

like I'm gonna do this

but...tomorrow."

So here we are.

It's tomorrow.

Now's the right time to figure

out a time and place to meet

up.

>> Okay.

>> Calling Marcus.

[phone line rings]

>> Hello, Marcus.

We are calling to find out

about meeting up today.

>> All right, cool, so we'll

see you soon.

All right, later.

>> [screams]

>> Wait, amazing.

>> Stop.

>> It's happening.

>> [screams]

>> All right, so after two

years of texting, it's really

happening.

>> Are you nervous?

>> Don't tell me.

My nerves are, like, on edge

right now.

>> It is important to remember

that we still kind of have

no idea who he is...

>> Yeah.

>> At least, physically.

Well...

we are at the park.

>> We are at the park.

Get my nerves out.

I'm so nervous.

>> Oh, girl.

>> Dais, don't break an ankle.

>> Ooh.

>> [groans]

I don't want to do this.

>> You guys want to see

what's up there?

>> Yes.

>> Seems like a walk.

>> I'll race you.

>> It's the climb.

>> This is--this is it.

This is it.

>> * You took

* What you wanted to take

* And yet you never wanted

* Nothing from me

* It's gone too far *

* And you're too gone *

>> We've been here almost an

hour, still haven't heard back

from Marcus, and I think it's

reasonable to consider that he

may not show up.

>> Okay.

>> Yeah.

>> I, like, don't even want

to look anymore.

[phone chimes]

>> both: Oh.

>> He just wrote back, "On our

way," which means he's with

someone.

>> Like a significant other?

>> Could be somebody within

the family.

>> Oh, [bleep], he's calling.

[phone rings]

>> Handheld?

>> Hello?

Hey.

Hi, what's up, man?

You're here?

>> Mm-hmm.

>> Oh, my God.

>> Wow, okay, cool.

So, yeah, just--we're right

up here.

Come on up.

>> Oh, my God.

>> Time to face the music.

>> Oh, my God.

>> That really looks like him.

Interesting.

It's definitely him.

>> Yeah.

>> I mean, it's definitely

the guy.

[electronic music]

*

>> [laughs] Oh, my God.

Oh, my God, hi.

>> How are you?

>> Good, how are you?

>> Good.

>> What's up, man?

>> Wow.

>> This is, like--

>> What's going on?

>> Nothing.

>> How--how you doing?

>> Pretty good.

>> Oh, my God, you look good.

This is my cousin Julius.

>> Hi.

>> Hey, what's up, man?

>> Yeah, can we--can we put a

microphone on you?

>> This is pretty weird.

[laughter]

>> You're telling me.

>> Thank you for meeting us.

I know there were some concerns.

We're all very happy that you

showed up.

>> Having made three seasons

of the show, I am very surprised

to see you.

>> I just, like, a real...

I don't know, like, I have

a comfort zone, and I don't

usually tend to go out of my

comfort zone.

Sometimes that's just how I

handle stuff, so it took a

while, you know what I mean?

>> And now we're here.

>> What was the reason that you

guys hadn't ever talked on

the phone?

>> Uh...

>> That's pretty weird.

>> That's on me, 100%.

My comfort's, like, texting,

and, I don't know, just, like,

a lot of my real close family

gets mad at me 'cause texting

is just kind of like,

I'm comfortable with.

She got mad at me, but...

>> I was more than mad.

Why wouldn't you have answered,

though?

Even if it's your comfort zone,

like, you couldn't even just

say, "Hey, like, I can't talk

right now"?

Was that difficult, to even

just say, like, three words?

>> Right, but some of the times,

like, I don't know.

Like, it just--

>> But then you prolonged it

for two years.

>> Yeah.

>> I'm--I'm sorry.

That's, like, not really

my thing.

>> Let me ask you this.

Why would you never send me

something back when I have asked

you?

Even, like, for just a simple

birthday card?

>> But I told you from the

beginning, like, I'd accept

your gifts, like I--I kind--

>> Okay, yeah, you can't even

spend a dollar?

>> I'm kind of in a--

>> You couldn't even go to the

dollar store and get a birthday

card?

>> It's not about that.

>> And 35¢ for a stamp

and an envelope?

>> I told you from the beginning

I appreciate everything you

send me, and I told you a couple

of times that you shouldn't

send me this because I don't

feel comfortable...

>> What do you mean?

>> With taking all of this.

I can't send you anything

in return.

>> What do you mean when you say

"I--I can't send you anything"?

>> For a while, it was just

financially.

>> But I mean, like,

a postcard.

That's literally, like,

maybe $2.

>> Yeah, like, you know?

>> I'm sorry, I didn't know

that really meant something

to you, is a postcard.

Like, I thought that me and you

were, like...cool.

>> I still feel like there's

a chance that we're not getting

the whole story right now,

like--

>> What do you mean?

>> Are you dating somebody?

>> No, I'm not dating anybody.

>> You never sent her, like,

a picture or a little video or

anything, and I keep waiting

for, like, somebody else to get

out of that car and be like,

"This is really me."

>> We met off Instagram, and,

like, that's really my

Instagram.

>> But if you're so comfortable

texting, you must text pictures,

right?

>> But it's more like I send

pictures of, like, my work.

Like, that's, like, what I like

to do.

I don't like to just be like--

You know what I mean?

I like pictures.

I like getting pictures.

But I'm just not, like, a--

>> You like getting her

pictures?

>> 'Cause--yeah, I do.

>> Everything that Daisy knows

about you is legit.

>> I'm really me.

I'm really who I say I am.

This is so weird.

>> Stop.

>> I don't know, it's just funny

that she's real, I guess.

>> So y'all didn't think she

would be real?

>> Are you serious?

>> You know, you just never

know.

I know he's real.

>> Well, we definitely didn't

think you were real.

>> You didn't?

>> No.

>> No, I mean...

>> Now it all comes full circle.

>> Like, you're next to me

right now, like, oh, my God.

Oh, my God.

>> I feel like, since things

seem to be going pretty well,

why don't we go to, like,

a more comfortable place?

>> All right, yeah, that's cool.

>> Does that work for you guys?

>> Yeah, that's cool.

>> We'll see you in a few

minutes.

>> Okay.

>> That just happened.

That's mind-warping.

>> What do you think?

>> Wow, he's sexy as [bleep].

>> That's insane.

I mean, I didn't want to say

it, but, like, girl...

>> He's just a little shy.

>> A lot of shy.

>> I mean, a lot of shy.

>> A lot, yeah.

>> We will have to just see

what happens.

>> This episode of Catfish:

the TV Show continues now.

>> Today's been such a good day.

>> I know, right?

>> I'm truly surprised.

>> I'm, like, nervous, though.

>> Why are you nervous?

>> 'Cause, I don't know, like,

what to say.

I don't want to, like, come off

like--

>> You've got charm.

>> Do I?

>> Just be you.

If you had your ideal situash,

would you kiss?

>> I hope so.

>> Would you cuddle?

>> I want to.

I cuddle so hard.

>> The jitters are out, like--

>> I mean, I'm still...

>> You're still nervous?

>> Just as nervous.

>> He hasn't even seen your

beautiful eyes yet.

>> I know, so I want to keep

my glasses on.

>> No.

>> No, you should let him--

>> You should have a grand

reveal.

>> both: Whoa.

>> Did you see that?

>> I felt something.

>> Oh, my God.

>> Oh, girl, you crack me up.

>> Some coffee with a little

soy milk.

>> Thank you so much.

>> Thank you.

All right.

The thing to keep in mind

before he gets here is that he

clearly takes things slow.

>> Yeah.

>> And even if you guys are

feeling excited about seeing

each other, like--

>> Don't freak him out.

>> Right.

>> 'Cause this is a lot already

for anybody.

>> Right.

>> Right?

>> I wonder what he's gonna say.

>> Oh, wait, here he is.

>> Speak of the devil.

>> [laughs]

>> Good to see you again.

Have a seat.

>> Chill.

>> I can't believe this is

happening.

This is wild.

>> It's definitely pretty

different.

>> We're gonna give you all the

space you need.

Bye, guys.

>> See you.

>> Bye.

You have really nice eyes.

>> Thank you. You do too.

They're big and bright.

>> Are they?

I can't believe, like, you're

in my face, though.

>> Right?

>> Do you know what you mean

to me?

>> Yeah, what do you mean?

>> It's obvious that I really

like you and that you mean

something so special to me.

I don't text anybody the way

that I would text you.

Like, I'd be so excited when you

would text me.

I'm like--little schoolgirl.

Like, I'm like, "Hee, hee.

Oh, my God," you know?

And it's so crazy how, like,

you impacted me completely,

you know, from all the

devastation that I've been

through, going through this

and that, and it didn't bother

me that I didn't talk to you

on the phone because I loved

what we had.

I don't want to say you mean

everything to me, but you mean

a good portion.

>> I think that we can keep

continuing to kick it how we

kick it and go from there.

>> Do I mean something to you?

>> Of course.

Everybody wants a...friendship.

>> But you could never say,

like, what we had was special?

>> Well, I'm asking you now.

>> I appreciate it.

>> Do you ever see anything

after this, like a relationship?

>> Yeah, we're connected

as friends, have similar--

>> Okay, but put it

hypothetically.

Put yourself in those shoes

and answer that question.

>> Y--for me, you ca--

I got to...experience that.

I can't just make estimations.

>> Do you feel it?

>> I mean, I like your style.

I like who you are.

We take it from there.

>> Okay.

I'm down.

>> * Where is the line

* Between live

* Or just pretend?

* Wasting our time

* Over and over again

* Where is the line

* Between love

* And simple friends?

>> I'm gonna miss you.

>> Ah, we'll be all right.

>> Will we?

[computer rings]

>> Hello!

>> Hey.

>> There she is!

>> How is everything?

>> I start school tomorrow

for cosmetology, so...

>> Amazing.

>> What's the deal with you

and your man?

>> As time, you know, like,

a week went by or, like, two

weeks, he was doing his thing,

I was doing mine.

So I have to be, you know,

realistic about what's really

between us.

>> Do you think that there was

just, like, so much buildup

to that one moment that it was

just like, "Okay, now what?"

>> Yeah, like, he's always gonna

have a place in my heart, like,

you know, he's like

a best friend now.

>> You do seem happy.

>> Thank you.

All right, take care, guys.

Bye.

>> Bye.

[computer rings]

>> What's up?

>> What's been going on since

we saw you?

>> Me and Daisy are cool.

Like, we still text each other

every now and then, call each

other here and there.

>> And do you think about Daisy?

Do you think about maybe, like,

somehow pursuing something

with her?

>> Ah, I just--you can't

dedicate yourself to, like,

one type of pizza.

You got to try all of them.

>> I feel that so deeply.

>> [chuckles]

>> Later, dude.

>> "OMG, who the hell broke up

with me?

Help!"

So that's--

>> Wait, so they got broken up

with?

>> I was ready to be serious.

She ripped my heart apart.

>> Ooh, whoa.

>> What's the point of doing

this?

Like, what do you get out of it?

>> She gets you out of it.
