different acts,

and only 7 can move forward
to the next round.

This is when the word
"competition"

starts to mean something.

This is the judge cuts.

I'm Marina.

I am Svetlana.
We are mother and daughter,

and we love to perform
with our cats.

We've been doing this act
for three years,

but my mom has been
training cats about 21 year.

When she grew up,
she dreamed to train lions,

but when she saw the lions,
she thought,

"Oh, no.
I'd rather train cats."

Growing up, my mom used
to take cats from the streets

and bring them home,

and now these cats
are my brothers and sisters.

The crazy thing is that
both me and my mom

are allergic to cats,
but this sacrifice worth it

because we love
these guys a lot.

Yes!

Our first audition
was really incredible.

You know why that was
so impressive?

Because dogs want to please.
Cats are like, "Make me,"

and they had sort of,
like, cattitude.

[cat meows]

How are they acting now
that they've gotten

to this next level?
Are they being divas?

Oh, of course.

They say, "We are the queens,
and we will do what want."

[cats meowing]

These cats have got minds
of their own.

We hope the cats will
perform, but nobody knows.

change this time?

Well, last time,
you guys told us

that you would like everybody
to have more of a moment,

so we applied that tonight.

Overall as a group, when you
all sang together, it worked.

It's definitely a step up from
the first time that we saw you.

You know, here's where
I disagree with you.

I don't know that it was
a step up from the first one.

You did a good audition,
not a better audition.

Some of the judges
aren't impressed,

but some of them are, so
they're definitely gonna fight.

They're very serious.

It's like, have a bit
of fun here.

We just gotta kill it.

A high school group
from Sahuarita, Arizona.

We are definitely a family,
and our teacher,

Miss Lopez, is our mom.

Five, six, seven, eight.

We are so blessed
and thankful

to have to Miss Lopez.

She doesn't want to see
anything happen to us

besides being successful.

One and freeze. Good.

My experience with dance
growing up was that it had

given me a sense of purpose,

so I wanted to start a program
for kids

where they would feel
a sense of belonging.

I've seen so many kids
do a complete 180.

In 9th grade,
I was going to the wrong path.

I actually got suspended from
school for being intoxicated.

All my decisions were horrible.

One day, I saw
the PAC Dance Team performing,

and it was just like,
their energy

and their love for dance,
and I was just like,

"Oh, my gosh, I want to be
on the team."

Miss Lopez gave me
the chance of a lifetime.

If it wasn't for this team
and for Miss Lopez,

I wouldn't be
graduating at all.

Are you well known?

I mean, a couple
of our videos

for our homecoming
assemblies got viral.

We started watching them
over and over again.

They racked up over,
like, 2 million views, so.

2 million?
Yeah.

Our first audition was
just so surreal, but...

I thought this was
really good for school,

not good for us.
It's a no.

Howie's "no" is definitely
disappointing.

Now we want to prove to Howie
that we can still do this.

We want to keep going.

Genuinely, I thought
you were amazing.

The audience loved you.

You're through
to the next round.

Even though we are just
a high school group,

we are here to win.

This looks interesting.
They're a dance troupe.

And they always have
a good concept.

So it was a little bit mixed,

and challenging choreography

that we can do it.

inspire people out there,

showing that

I appreciate all the work
and effort that you've put in,

but this is the biggest stage
in the world for talent.

Only seven can go through,
and this is hard for me to say,

but this show is so much more

than just a high school
dance team.

I definitely don't think
that this was buzzer-worthy.

"America's Got Talent"
is for everyone.

It's not just for people
who are professional already.

I actually do think the show
needs acts like you.

The problem for me was
that the tracks didn't go

with what--the theme
you were trying to do,

so it didn't tell
the story well enough.

You might have to blame
your teacher for this,

if she chose the music,

uh, it wasn't a good choice.

Well, I will say,
if you let us go through,

we will come back
with something even better

and prove you guys wrong.

That kind of threw me.
That was a disconnect for me.

So now I'm singing

My dad introduced me to music,

and that's where I fell
in love with singing.

I dream about it.

This is Angel Garcia,
the 12-year-old.

71 years old.

In a million years,
I would never have thought

I would be here today.

I grew up in a small village
in Thailand.

My father was rice farmer.

We were very poor,

but my parents taught me
very, very hard work,

and I learned not to give up.

I met my husband Rick
46 years ago.

We fell in love,
so I came to America,

and I'm so grateful every day
to live in this country.

I still appreciate it so much.

Ten years ago, Rick and I do
ballroom dance class together.

It was amazing.

I have never experienced
anything like it in my life.

I realize dance was my dream.

After three years, my husband
can't keep up with me,

and he said,
"Okay, honey, you do it."

After that, I got to find
a young man to dance with.

[laughs]

Misha and I have been dancing
together for five years.

We've been working so hard,

and now we want to go
to the live shows,

because I want to show
the world, hey, listen,

just because you're 60, 70,
don't sit there.

If we won
"America's Got Talent,"

that would mean
the world to me.

about seven months later,

I got my record deal and I--
he asked me to open his tour.

That's fantastic.
No way.

So I went literally
from T-shirt booth

to opening act.

from the beginning.

Well, my name
is Noah Guthrie,

and I'm 24 years old.

I'm a singer-songwriter
from South Carolina.

Okay.
I was on the last season

of "Glee" a couple years back,
and, you know,

kind of got a little taste
of success with that,

and I've been trying
to get back to that ever since.

When you got that break
on "Glee,"

and it was cancelled,
how did you pick yourself up?

I'm--I'm curious.

It was kind of a weird
transition period.

It was--you know,
it was back to the grind,

and luckily I had my dad

helping me kind of stay
on track and get back to music.

He's always with me.

Everyone assumes that once
you're on a show

that was as big as "Glee,"

the offers keep rolling in.

to this small town

in South Carolina,
and he was a bit shell-shocked.

He was struggling.

It's really hard
to see your son like that,

so I thought to myself,

I'm gonna get on the road
with Noah,

and we're gonna drive
across the country,

and we're gonna get
his head back into music.

I went out and found
one of the ugliest cars

that's ever been on
the streets, but it ran great.

My dad is my biggest
supporter.

He really helped me
to get back the confidence

to sing and perform
in front of people.

Being on that stage,
my first audition,

I felt a little vulnerable.

I was playing a character
on "Glee,"

and for the first time
in front of America,

I was just me.

a wallflower, almost a hermit.

One day, I got tired
of being the kind of guy

And I did.

I once had my identity stolen.

they gave it right back.

It's not unusual for me
to have people stand up

at my performances,

although usually that's
so they can get up to leave.

It was amazing.

I've never really had

Our dad had a family band
with his siblings,

with our aunts and uncles.

Baby was born, and my wife,
who was the sound woman,

she carried Joshua on her back,
and we continued to do music

until I found out
I couldn't make money,

and a friend said, "You need
to take care of your family."

I got a job for you.

Dad ended up getting a job
as a garbage man,

and still remains a garbage man
to kind of make ends meet.

Mom and dad were
an incredible team.

Thinking back on them,
they're just amazing,

but I think that we didn't know
what we had in the moment, so.

My wife was diagnosed with
carcinoma cancer, stage 4.

We had four hard,
but really wonderful,

treasured months with her.

She passed away on January 5th.

and I caught her,
and we gathered the kids there,

and we watched her
take her last breath.

of his little brother ♪

♪ And he's not really sure
