Naked and Afraid: Last One Standing (2023–…): Season 1, Episode 7 - Cutthroat to the Bone - full transcript

Desperate for a kill, Matt lays down new hunting ground rules; Gary confronts Steven and Waz when a honey score might be stolen; in the first elimination challenge, a cold-blooded move creates head-to-head conflict; two survivalis...

[Cheeny] This is different.

-[helicopter hovering] -[Steven] This
is something we've never done before.

[Matt] You gotta watch your back
for not just the animals this time,

but for the other survivalists.

[Gary] Run!

[shouting]

[narrator] For
the first time ever,

Twelve of Naked and
Afraid's most skilled survivalists

are competing head-to-head

for 45 days in the
South African bush...

-Whoo! [laughs]
-[man laughs]

[narrator] ...to crown
the best of the best...

Yeah!

[narrator] ...and win $100,000.

This is what I live for!

[narrator] Failure
means elimination.

[Gary] This
challenge is so real.

[narrator] Who will be

the last one standing?

Previously on Last
One Standing...

-[Steven cheering]
-[all laughing]

[narrator] ...the survivalists
were split into two camps

and new dynamics were created.

[bleep]

Cheeny's face says it all.

Cut his nuts off.

[narrator] Matt found
the meat cache...

[laughs exultantly]

Ain't no animal get
away from me yet.

[narrator] ...leaving
Jeff hungry once again.

-[roaring] Whoo!
-[laughs]

Basically they're
trying to starve me out.

-The Savage kitchen is open for business.
-[howls]

[Gary laughs]

They're all eating
impala meat together.

[narrator] The division
between Jeff and the others

led to a breaking point.

Don't call any one of us a bully

because we're holding
you to your own [bleep] law,

as you established, right here.

You said, [bleep]
drawn in the sand,

"Competition every day.

Don't bitch about
[bleep] losing."

[Jeff] I'm more than
under their skin.

I'm in their souls.

It's a psychological,
mental game right now

that they're losing.

[grunting]

[Sarah] This is gonna make
a really awkward night for us.

[Dan speaking]

We just had a huge
blowout in the shelter.

Um, God, it breaks my heart
to see everybody so torn up.

It's hard to watch.

I'm just, like...

in shock, I guess.

Survival is 90% mental.

And it's so easy
to get into a funk

'cause, man, when you
fall into a deep enough pit,

you feel like you
can't get out of it.

And I'm not in a good headspace.

I... My heart is not in this.

At all.

You guys all right?

[Jeff laughing]

-[Gary] What's happening?
-[laughing]

[Gary] What did I walk into?

[Jeff] Bro, I don't
know where you were,

[laughing] but you were in
the right place, my friend.

Everyone came over here.

And they just had a, uh,

"Jeff intervention,"

where they all took their
rounds around the campfire,

telling me why they all
think I'm a piece of [bleep].

It was quite the show.

This behavior is crazy.

This is a competition.

You can't get mad at somebody

for putting points on a
scoreboard in a competition.

I guess if you don't play
exactly the way that they want,

then they're mad
at you, you know?

I don't know that they're...

going about getting what they want
the best way, you know, in the long run.

The boys have a harsher opinion
towards Jeff than I think I do.

That's their prerogative.

But they can't expect everybody to
see it all exactly the same, you know?

They might be sitting
in a place of privilege

'cause they don't have to sit in
the same shelter with him and,

I get to sleep on
one of his hides,

you know, you wanna
be thankful to a degree.

[Cheeny] My mind is
back in Maine right now.

I'm in a shelter with
Jeff for the next week

and, um, that's gonna
be pretty awkward

but honestly, that's not...

the nail in my coffin for this.

Well, I guess this
says, things progressed,

and the amount of food that
I've eaten. My tank is on empty.

I mean, I had already
passed out once.

[Dan] Hey, Cheeny.

Hey, Cheeny?

[Cheeny] I really don't
want that to happen again.

But... I miss my
family a lot too

and I've been thinking the last
couple of days about going home.

So, after what
happened this morning,

I think it just kinda made
things clearer for me.

That I should be home.

What's going on?

Sorry to interrupt...
No, come on in.

[Cheeny] ...but I just don't
want to do this anymore.

I'm going home.

[Gary] That's a bummer.

You seemed a little
discontent lately.

But it was a pleasure
to have you around.

-[Cheeny] Same. It's great to see...
-Yeah.

-[Cheeny] ...you in action, Gary.
-Thank you.

Most people don't understand
the toll that this challenge

takes on you mentally
unless you've lived it.

You have to understand
where your mind has to be.

You just want out sometimes,
you know? You just want out.

-See you later, Cheeny.
-[Jeff] Take care, Cheeny.

Will do.

-Love you.
-Love you too.

[Dan] Cheeny and
I clicked right away.

And not just because
we had to, like,

rub our naked bodies against each
other for warmth almost immediately.

[laughs]

We're very similar people.

We have very similar attitudes
towards life and survival and...

she is funny as hell,

and we allowed each other to be
weird around each other. I love that.

[Sarah] It was so
wonderful to get to know you.

[Cheeny] You too.

So happy I got to spend
the first 21 days with her.

Beyond grateful for that.

-Good luck with the rest of it.
-Yeah.

[Cheeny] My last challenges, I was an
inspiration to people and to other women and...

that makes tapping harder.

Really does.

But...

I just feel like
my time here is...

done.

Well, made it to day
25 in South Africa

and, uh, you know, I'm
not the last one standing

but, I'm okay with
that, you know?

It's been a hard 25 days.

It's a lot physically,
it's a lot mentally.

It's a lot emotionally.

But it's also not fun to be...

untrue to yourself and to
lie to yourself every day,

and try to pretend like you're happy
where you're at when you're not.

And then there were seven.

Uh, Cheeny just...

told Gary and I that she's out,

and she's heading home.

I don't think it's any accident

that this comes mere
minutes after the little...

"Bully Jeff" intervention.

And I've been saying
for the last couple weeks,

this negativity from
the other group,

it's gonna start to affect them.

And... And it is!

Literally, their arrows...

are bouncing right off of me.

And today, they hit Cheeny.

I believe karma is biting

this other group.

And, you know what,
if some bad karma

were to take some
of my competitors out,

well, so be it.

[Matt] This is the first
elimination challenge.

Somebody's going home today.

[Waz] It's $100,000
on the table.

Someone's about to go home.

I don't want to be the
first one to go home.

[Matt] We get off on this
challenge and the pace is fast.

Foot racing it to the extreme.

[grunts in pain]

I got a cramp. I got a cramp.

I have a pain in my calf.

It is bad.

Oh, [bleep] leg.

[grunts softly]

But you offer me $100,000,
I'm not gonna give up.

It's amidst the battle
right now. I'm in the war.

But I'm probably gonna be
the first one to get eliminated.

[exhales]

[grunting softly]

[bleep]

-It's a big day today. Yeah.
-[Steven] Yeah, of emotions.

[Steven sighs]

Having Cheeny leave...

isn't necessarily a bad thing.

This is a competition challenge.

You know, onto one step closer

to being the last one standing.

Uh, you almost
feel bad for being...

happy or okay with
it, Day 28's coming up.

So, we know there's
either a challenge

or something we
gotta prepare for or so...

-[Dan] This will give firewood a break for once.
-Yeah.

We don't know what to expect.

Uh, might be a challenge,
might be elimination.

We have no idea.

[Waz] What does it say
about day 28? Meet here...

[Dan] Just make your
way here on day 28.

[Waz] Oh, that's it?

[narrator] On day 28, the
survivalists will not be migrating.

Instead, they must meet at
the 'X' shown on their maps,

where they'll receive instructions
for the challenge ahead.

[Dan] It does say on the
top, it's a little ominous, that,

"Here you will live
in one of two camps...

but you alone will
control your destiny."

[Matt] Lot of things on each
challenges to worry about.

-I don't want food to be one of 'em.
-Yeah.

Every time I've gone down there,

I've said I'm gonna go
look for that fishing asset.

-[Dan] Yeah.
-Well, today I'm gonna go get it.

About damn time.

You know, I'm not here to
[bleep] spiders. Let's go get this.

-Yes. That's what I was waiting for.
-[Dan] Yeah.

[narrator] Four
days into zone four

and the competitors have found
all of the advanced survival tools

with the exception
of the fishing asset.

Despite the map stating to
plunge the depths of the river,

Waz has failed to locate
it for the past four days.

[Waz] It's gotta
be that sandbank.

[Dan] Think that
sandbank right there?

[Waz] It has to be
that... that bit, yeah.

Where the symbol on
the map is out there,

I've searched that
place inside and out.

I've done grid
searches both ways.

Dan's been in there as well.

Matt's been in there as well.

Steven's been in there as well.

We just haven't found it.

It makes me start thinking
about it maybe plunge

and the depths might not necessarily
mean diving into the water and...

and going down the bottom,

but maybe plunging my hand into
that sandbank on the... on the far side.

And maybe somewhere up
around the shallows up there.

Waz is one of the most stubborn
people I have ever met in my life.

He will not fail at
something. He will not quit.

And, uh, it's the same
with this fishing cache.

Like, regardless if it makes

survival sense for us to keep going and
trying to find it again and again and again,

based on the calories,
the cold, all of that,

he's too stubborn to quit at it.

Well, Sarah, congratulations
on being the last woman.

Yeah, I wish it was under
better circumstances.

Yeah, I know. Me too.
It... It never is though.

-You know?
-[Gary] Yeah, never easy.

There's never... There's never happy
endings when a challenge ends for someone.

[Sarah] Cheeny's taken off.

For me it means that, uh,

I'm the last female
in the challenge.

And that's...

unfortunate because, uh,

I'm just surrounded by
a lot of macho energy.

Not entirely thrilled
about that aspect of it.

But I'm out here to win the game

so, uh, you know, I'll
make do with what I got.

It's what I always do.

-Lot of testosterone in the room right now.
-[laughs]

-We'll try to be sensitive to that.
-[laughs]

[Steven] Anything?

No, nothing.

[Dan] We've been working
on getting this fishing cache

a long time.

So many man hours
have been put into this.

But Waz has had an idea that
maybe it's somewhere in the sand.

Hopefully we'll find something
so we can put this to rest.

Holy [bleep], Waz.

-[laughs]
-[Waz speaking]

I just went under
water doing this again

like I did 60,000 times.

[Waz] You've been...
Everyone's been here 100 times.

[Dan] What?

-Ooh, it's so big.
-Come on, let me give you a hug, bro.

[laughing]

I... I couldn't think of
a better additional item

to have at this
point to be honest.

[Steven cheering in distance]

-Yeah!
-Whoo!

That last fishing
cache, we got it.

And... And that is an
amazing blessing today.

Persistence is everything.
Patience is everything.

In... In survival, in life.

Um, and you just don't quit.

You do not quit and...

That's what happens
when you don't quit.

You succeed.

You can use this as a seine net,

you can use this as a gillnet, you can
use this in a bunch of different ways.

Fish for dinner.

[Gary] It's bright and
early in the morning again.

Day 26.

So, uh...

two more sleeps and
our world changes again.

Because day 28,
we meet at this 'X'.

We don't know what's in store.

We don't know what
we're gonna hear,

we don't know what
we're gonna learn.

But, uh...

we're gonna find out in a
couple days. Day after tomorrow.

So, uh, I'm off to
hunt. We need to eat.

I gotta get me an impala.

This is where they're at.

When it comes to
the hunting strategies,

we leave that a lot to Matt.

You know, I might
go off independently.

If I'm lucky
maybe I'll get a kill.

It's worth a try.

All right. This Savage
is gonna hunt something.

At this point, I'm up early.

I'm up on top of the mountain.

Above all the animals.

Now, gonna sneak up.

Do what I do best.

Without a doubt,

getting larger food

is the hardest thing to do on
a Naked and Afraid challenge.

But for this competition,

I have to eat good.

So, it is very paramount that I capitalize
on at least one bigger game animal.

But here...

you can hardly learn the area
before we have to leave again.

Makes it a lot
harder to get one.

It frustrates the
hell out of me but

on hunts like this
you gotta keep trying.

I just saw a herd
of impala right now.

[quietly] They
haven't seen me yet.

This is gonna be very tricky.

See them through the bushes.

[in normal voice] Now they're
all running away. Damn it.

[Matt] Oh, man.

What in the [bleep]?

People walking around
while I'm hunting.

Why the [bleep] am
I waking up early for,

covering impala
[bleep] dirt and mud?

Look at that goddamn
Gary walking by.

Right through the hunting zone.

[bleep] kidding me.

Goddamn it.

There was impala ram
[bleep] almost coming.

[sighs]

Pisses me off.

[sighs]

[Waz] See anything this morning?

[Matt] Uh, yeah. I had a group
there until Gary boned me.

[Gary] Oh, hey, so sorry. I didn't know
I messed up your hunt this morning.

[Matt] I would
assume in the morning,

assume I'm out there somewhere.

I am bummed that every
time I get out there and hunt,

I keep getting boned
by other survivalists.

So, this is what
I'm thinking, guys.

To maximize our... our hunting
first couple hours of morning,

till the sun's up
about two hands,

I need anybody who's gonna
hunt, hunt that waterhole.

We'll coordinate
with each other,

figure out who's going up there.

Um, who's sitting in a place.

Then after that, anytime
between that hour and about...

two or three hands before
it drops into the horizon,

fish the heck out of it.

That should be the best
fishing anyways for that hole.

We have two weeks left.

And that two weeks

is probably gonna be
the hardest two weeks.

We are hungry. We
are protein deficient.

If I was by myself
and no one interfering,

there probably would have
been two impala by now,

sitting there on a campfire.

If we can coordinate that,

-it's going to be successful, we will have success.
-[Gary] Yeah.

Just felt shady.

Matt is saying we're gonna
play it by playing his way.

I did think, you know,
"Who are you to tell me

what to do with my
bow and arrows?"

This is upside down right now.

This is gonna be a seine net

that we can have with
one person on each side

dragging this thing
through the water.

Crossing my fingers, this
could be really effective.

First we're gonna use
this thing up in the...

fish pond, kinda
like a seine net.

Did this a lot in different
labs that I've worked in

to assess fish populations,

and it's an amazing
method for catching fish.

Might as well use the
wind to our advantage.

-Yeah.
-It, uh, just started on the other side there.

[Dan] Yup.

Walk this direction.

Just stretch it out
like a large rectangle,

walk horizontally up
from shore, bring it in

and it will sort of just
scoop all the fish into one net

and be able to drag
'em up on shore.

Oh, you're way first...

Yeah, we'll bring that to shore.

-Just keep it tight on the bottom.
-Yeah, but keep it tight.

[Matt] We're on
checks and balances

with calories right now.

Um, anything to
help us get more food

is a big deal out here,
especially protein.

[Steven] So we're...
we're testing it out

and, um, it's not
working quite as planned.

Yup.

But it's... it's just like
anything out here.

It's trial and error.

You have to learn.
You have to adapt.

You have to fail
before you succeed.

The net's the wrong
kind of net for this.

-[Dan] The wrong... Yeah, it's...
-It's not a gillnet.

Well, see, it's not...

-It's not a rectangular net either, yeah.
-It's not a seine net.

We need to gotta tie
a rope on the bottom

to make it tight.

Yes, that would
be the easiest way

to make that tight...
a tight seine net.

Without a weighted bottom,
Without a weighted bottom,

the fish are gonna
be able to... to get out.

They're gonna be able to
swim underneath the net,

around the net.

And, uh, so these are
things that are pivotal in fixing

before, uh, we can start
getting positive results

on this net situation.

I know there's fish in there.

I know there's
big fish in there.

[Dan] Figured we're gonna have
to do some trial and error there.

[Gary] I'm very in
the doghouse again.

You got Matt, kind of, uh...

calling the shots
there 'cause it's his...

livelihood.

But, it's like...

But he doesn't control it.

[Jeff] His situation
is nuts bro.

The strategy
they've taken is, like,

"Okay, we own the...
we own the prairie

and we own the bows.

We also own the lake,

you know, between
these hours in the morning

and this hour at night."

It's absolutely nuts.

This other group,
they're making rules

expecting me to follow.

Matt is asking me to
help him kill an animal

that he then won't
share with me.

This is ludicrous.

Like, oh, who do
they think they are?

Basically, if anyone
shoots an animal

and I'm guaranteed to not eat.

I might... I might
as well just go and...

-[Gary] No.
-...you know, start singing songs

out on the prairie
every morning and night.

-[Sarah] At the same time.
-So...

There's a problem with that.

If it becomes a situation

where Jeff feels, like,
sabotaging the hunt,

then we're all screwed.

[Gary] It's a big area.

I don't think any one person

or any two people
should own the field.

Yeah, yeah, I mean...

[Jeff] So, Gary, what
do you think about, um...

I would like to, you
know, formally ask you

as a friend if I can use a bow.

They'll be pissed off that I
even would let you use that bow.

And, but... that
doesn't mean I can't.

So you just can't
interrupt their hunt,

then they'll be
really pissed off.

-Right. Right.
-[Gary] Um...

-Right. Right. -[Gary] Um...
-but, uh... -So...

And then I wouldn't
interfere with them

and things might be,
uh, might be kosher.

That's... that's
what I'm saying.

That we're communicating,
that might be the best route.

Okay.

If you wanna do evenings

and I'll do mornings
after tomorrow morning?

-Yeah.
-[Jeff] I appreciate it.

[Sarah] Honestly, it's been
kind of surprising with Gary.

I respect the fact if that's
the way that he wants

to go about this.

Um, my situation
is to try to keep Jeff

at a distance by being
simply amicable with him

but not having anything more

to do with him than that.

I can only use the bow if
I don't let the others know

that I'm hunting out
on the savannah.

So that limits my
hunting strategy.

It's absolutely crazy,
but I just have to take it

for a few more days

until we move to
the next location.

At some point...

some natives had built

a little hunting
platform up in here.

The natives must
have put this here

'cause this is one of
those monkey fruit trees.

And it's dropping
those monkey fruits

and animals like
to chew on those.

A lot of animal sign here.

There's some scat here.

The grass is really matted down

so the animals do
come right through here.

This would probably
be a pretty...

pretty decent location

for making myself
a hunting blind.

This is a definitely

a traditional Zulu
hunting blind setup.

And I'm sure it was, uh,
very fruitful at one time.

But nobody has
used this hunting blind

in many, many years.

And the shooting lanes
are no longer open.

So it definitely requires
some clearing out.

Doing all this with five
stitches in my hand, and a...

blistered up ankle.

[exhales] it's already testy.

I haven't eaten in several days.

I do need to prioritize
myself and my health.

All right. Let's
catch some bait.

Bait.

I just found this giant maggot.

I have no idea
what it actually is.

When the going gets
tough, the tough get going.

And, frankly, my way of dealing

with anything like this

is just to dig deep
and get [bleep] done.

You know, I don't
have quit in me.

And, uh, that means I maybe need

to run myself completely ragged

and, you know,
keel over somewhere

and then get medically evacuated

or I'm gonna make
it through to the end.

All right. I now have
some shooting lanes...

up here.

From the high
seat right up here...

I would be able
to shoot anything...

in this range here.

And then I would also
be able to shoot anything...

out in this field right here.

All easy shots, easy distance.

I have not ever had a bow
and arrow for one minute

on any Naked and Afraid
challenge I've ever been on.

Now I'm a born and bred hunter.

My grandpa taught
me how to fish.

He taught me how to
hunt from a young age.

I've never been able to
display my skill until now.

God willing...

I'll put an animal
down right here.

It's kinda funny, uh,
Matt the great hunter...

Uh, the only animal
he's got in this challenge,

he scavenged from leopards.

Now, if I'm the first one

to put an arrow through a
big game animal out here...

um... [chuckles]

Matt might need a psychologist.

[Gary] What's up, buddy?

[Jeff] I had to spend
the last couple hours

clearing out that tree stand.

[Gary] Okay.

[Jeff] And, uh, I wouldn't mind

getting up in that thing...

-[Gary] At dark.
-And... and... at dark,

an hour before light.

-[Gary] And then...
-And then...

When I'm ready to come out,

-I'll come out and just 'Hey".
-[Jeff] Yeah.

-And then I'll go to my spot.
-And then you'll go to your spot.

-We can split it up.
-Let's do that.

Uh... uh, I think, then we...

-Just do me a favor, just don't let them know.
-We'll maximize the one...

I won't.

[Gary] When I think about
it and look at the big picture,

if Jeff does kill
something with my bow...

I'm eating.

So I got that other...

person working for me.

[Jeff] Hey, man.

I... I'm happy to
have you as a partner.

-Yeah, dude. I mean, if we're...
-[Jeff] Yeah.

We're gonna... We're
gonna make this work.

You know, that how we... how...

We have to make it work,

-you know, right now.
-[Jeff] Yeah.

Gary had already agreed
to let me use the bow,

but Matt and everyone,
they've been...

uh, very strict, that
they don't want anyone

coming up into the savannah.

It's absolutely nuts
It's absolutely nuts

that this other group
has basically created

an embargo on my life.

Rules restricting me of
when I can go hunting,

when I can use the bow,

when, uh, when I can go fishing.

Uh, this is like in
a sporting event

the other team saying,
"Oh, actually, um, you know,

you have to get twenty yards

for a first down instead of ten.

Okay?"

Like, what?

[chuckles] This is stupid.

You can't just make
up rules during a game.

These rules to me,
they're make-believe.

They're lucky I'm
respecting them right now.

And I'm only doing that

to create peace
the next few days,

because, you know what?

I'm not confident they're gonna
be able to shoot anything anyway.

I think it's been, like, three,
four days now, without eating.

Aside from, you
know, eating Spekboom

and some of those plums,
and some of those plums,

not a lot. I think on an
average when I'm out here,

I'm losing about a pound a day.

I'm tired and it sucks,

but that's just
how survival works.

Are you [bleep] me?

My line's popping.

Come on.

I don't wanna jump the gun.

Yes!

[bleep] yes.

Yeah!

[Sarah] Got that.

Got me a fish.

Finally...

caught myself another tilapia.

So I've been out
here fishing hard

for the past couple days

with, uh, not
much to show for it.

So that in and of itself

is a win that can definitely put

a lot of energy back into me,

especially when it
comes to making it through

to the next challenge,
whatever that may be.

[Sarah] If I really wanna
be the last one standing,

I gotta make it through
to the end of this.

So if there is an
elimination that lies ahead,

catching that fish today,

I think that it might
be an intelligent move

to share it with Matt,
Dan, Waz, and Steven.

It's less awkward
to eat it over here

'cause otherwise
Jeff's gonna stare at me

while eating a fish.

[Matt] There you go.

[Sarah] Dan, I figured
you want the head

off of this thing, 'cause
I ain't gonna eat it.

[Dan] Happily.

Mmm-hmm.

-There's quite a bit meat on there for ya.
-Mmm-hmm.

[Sarah] No point not sharing.

[Matt] Aren't you
sharing that with Gary?

No, I'm comfortable eating here.

Not that Gary
doesn't deserve any.

It's just, convenient.

And, besides, I got a feeling
you guys will be sharing

you guys will be sharing
some fish with us pretty soon.

-[man] So...
-Getting that net working.

[Jeff] I think Sarah...

took her fish...

and went to the other group.

-She did?
-[Jeff] Mmm-hmm.

You know we were put in
two groups because, uh...

we may have to compete
against those people.

[Gary] Yeah, I... On
an upcoming challenge.

On an upcoming challenge.

[Gary] Oh, we could be
competing individually.

It's possible. We don't know.

[Gary] I guess
day 28, we find out.

Yeah.

-[Gary] Um...
-Yeah, we don't know.

Sarah catches a fish...

and she takes that fish over
and feeds the other team.

Meanwhile I'm here
boiling her water.

Tending her fire.

Making improvements...

to her shelter.

If that's not a team player,

tell me what is?

And, yet, I'm the bad guy.

[Sarah] Waz.

[Waz] No, I'm good. Thank you.

Matt.

Oh, sure. Hell, yeah.

Thank you.

[Dan] I love that.

It is getting to me.

Sarah, let me tell ya,
you would be the first one

that they try to eliminate

once I'm gone.

[whispers] It's the
morning of day 27.

And I've finally convinced
Gary to let me use the bow.

Yeah, and then... I'm gonna
head up into my tree stand

that I constructed yesterday.

And I get to bow hunt

for the first time
in this challenge...

27 days in.

[Jeff] [bleep]

So close.

Come back here another day.

And I have been
hunting all morning.

And, you know, it
could have worked out

and unfortunately it didn't.

But I can always come back here

and try to make this happen.

Team Bully, they're trying
to starve me out slowly but...

It's a war of attrition
out here now.

And may the best person win.

[Gary] Just go
for a little stroll...

Gary Golding style.

Today, I'm gonna do
what I call what I call

one of my Gary
Golding walkabouts

where I don't necessarily
have an exact focus,

but I look for opportunities.

I mean, I just kinda
feel my way around.

Tomorrow's a challenge
day, like, a competition day.

We don't know what's in store

and so, man,

I haven't eaten anything
substantial, really,

in a while.

You know, you feel it.

Lightheaded, starving.

It's pretty rough.

Bunch of bees over there.

Maybe just check it out.

If I find honey,

I'm sharing with every
single person here,

because I just feel

it's the right thing
to do right now.

Ah, I see it right there.

There's bees going
in and out here.

Yup, I see it.

Saw some bees
coming out of that...

those rocks right there

and those calories
would be clutch right now.

Nobody got a big kill yet.

Nobody. The biggest
score we've had

was that last bee hive.

That man's getting
a bit of honey.

-[Dan] I appreciate it.
-For all of us.

[Dan] Look at that babies.

[all cheering]

-[Waz] Yeah!
-[Gary] Yeah!

That's the biggest score
we've had in 27 days.

That says a lot.

What's up, guys?

-[Steven] What's going on?
-[Matt] Hey, buddy.

-So...
-[Matt] Doing good.

Scouted out a hive and
found a hive down there.

-[Matt] Oh, really?
-[Steven] Oh, nice.

-[Gary] Yeah.
-[Dan] Yeah?

Where's that at?

Down at the rock
face down there.

-[Dan] Ooh.
-How are...

-[Gary] By the river, use that.
-Oh.

[Gary] It's kind of
precarious climb.

-[Steven] Okay.
-[Matt] Okay keep us posted.

-[man] Okay.
-Yeah, we'll kinda come up with the tools we need

-and then go for it.
-[Matt] Yup.

-[Steven] Sounds like a plan, dude.
-All right.

[Matt] Nice, well done.

-Thanks.
-[Matt] Okay.

Yeah, go and
check out that hive.

-[Gary] All right.
-That sounds fun. I'm excited about that now.

[Matt] That would
be freaking amazing.

-Gary would share with Jeff.
-[Matt] Yeah, think so.

[Matt] Yeah.

[Steven] You're
absolutely right.

You're absolutely
right. 100 percent.

[Gary] So, I was down
by the river, and I saw,

a spot that looked like
there could be bees...

-[Sarah] Ooh.
-...you know, so.

This is one of those
things, we all just do it.

You can make this
just a big thing together.

[Jeff] Yeah, all right.

So, Jeff is my teammate...

...and they're my
teammates. [chuckles]

it's kind of an
interesting place to be.

I got to balance
making everyone happy,

myself, Jeff, and the four guys.

-If they plan on sharing, does that include me?
-[Gary] Yeah.

[Jeff] Because if it doesn't...

Well, the thing is, if you...

[Jeff] I'm not
gonna wait for them.

-Yeah, exactly.
-[Jeff] That makes sense. [chuckles]

I'm gonna have to tell
them, you know like, "Hey,

if we get the beehive then,

where I stand with it,
you get an equal amount.

-I wanna... I'm gonna go talk with them right now.
-Okay.

Gary, wait for me.
I'm gonna come too.

Could do some, uh,
reconnaissance, Matt.

All right.

Let's go check it out.

Gary's spotted another beehive.

Good luck, boys.

[Dan] It is a big day
tomorrow, day 28.

I don't know if there's
gonna be like, an elimination

or team challenge, or...
or team challenge, or...

what's gonna happen, but
we know we're gonna need

energy for it regardless, so.

Honey out here,
is like liquid gold.

It's exactly what we need.

It would be amazing to find

another win like that out here.

But apparently,
it's way up on a cliff,

and it's risky.

So, I want to go scout
and I'm eager to go find it.

[Gary] Hey, you guys.

[Waz] What up, buddy?

I wanted to
communicate with you,

about this beehive situation.

[Waz] Yeah, uh, Dan and
Matt have already gone

started looking for it.

Uh... [Waz] So, they're
scouting right now.

[Gary] So, here's the deal.

If... are we gonna...

-are they gonna be competing with me for that beehive?
-[Waz] No.

-[Gary] Because...
-[Waz] That's a shared...

I taught them how
to get that beehive.

[Waz] No, it's shared.
Everything is shared, okay.

While look, I'm just
saying, if we're gonna,

-if we're gonna compete.
-No, no, no. Stop, stop, stop.

[Gary] No, no, I'm not.
Don't tell me to stop. I'm...

-I'm just communicating.
-[Waz] I'm just trying to abate that fear that's gone.

[speaking indistinctly]

Dude, I can talk about
it. Just let me talk.

You're just coming up very
confrontational right now.

-[Gary] No, I, uh...
-That's not a fear,

that's not a concern, so
we don't hate to talk about it,

'cause we're gonna share it.

You haven't even heard what

-I'm gotta say.
-[Waz] Okay.

-That's the whole thing about it.
-[Waz] Oh, my God.

That's the trippiest part.

You haven't heard
one word I gotta say.

-Okay, then say it.
-I know, it's like holy [bleep].

Well, I heard you say
the word competition,

-and I just wanted to abate the fear, that's it.
-Dude, I know.

You haven't
heard it yet. [bleep]

-Then, say it.
-Okay.

Well then, then stop telling
me to stop like I'm a kid.

Come on, man.

I just want to communicate

everything with you, that's all.

Okay, so what is it?

-Okay. Thank you.
-[Waz] I'm listening.

Maybe now, you'll
actually listen.

-[scoffs] Oh don't... see that's condescending.
-[Gary] I'm serious...

Dude, it's hard not to
be when you cut me off.

-Then talk.
-[Gary] Yeah, Jesus Christ.

So, let me explain
this full thing fully,

so then you're fully
informed, okay?

Thank you.

So now, Jeff knows about it.

It's not being shared with Jeff.

That was a decision
that four of us made.

So, you guys are telling me
you four set the rules here?

I'm here too and my thoughts

and my opinion counts
just as much as you four.

So, that's what I
was noticing, I'm like,

"Go and check these four out,

they think, they call the shots.

They think they're
the big bosses here."

And there's Gary and Sarah.

And now, Jeff, he wants to go
after the honey independently

if we're not gonna
share with him.

Yeah, and I think it's a
good idea because we,

if that doesn't happen,
he might start [bleep] us.

But now, this team here,
But now, this team here,

is looking for that hive
and nobody swung by

and said, "Come on, Gary."

Nobody swung by.

Those two you wouldn't
think and I swear to God,

that I would have been the first
person they would've thought of.

Why is it important that
you specifically find it?

Because if Dan
gets that beehive,

I don't like the way
he shared it last time.

[Cheeny] You never get a
chance to eat brood comb...

-Hmm.
-[Cheeny] ...like, once in a lifetime experience.

Sometimes, Dan
gets a bit sticky fingers,

when there's food involved.

Dan puts his
portions to the side,

and then comes and
eats other people's...

-Okay, do you see my point?
-I get that.

Okay, great.

-It sucks that we're stuck over there with Jeff.
-Yeah.

Please understand
what it must be like,

to try to make this work
with you guys and him.

I'm gonna be transparent.

This guy used a
[bleep] bow this morning,

and I'll tell you why,

because I made him go
on that stand in that tree

and sit right there to
keep him out of the field,

because he's on the
edge of goin' up there and,

singing and dancing
in the morning,

and blocking the field.

So, I'm givin' him. I'm
keeping him occupied.

You know, we're trying
to make things work

-for ourselves, for you.
-[Waz] Yeah.

Yeah, we understand
exactly what you're asking,

and that's reasonable.

[Gary] Just all seven of us
go and get this thing together.

And that way, her and I,

can have a peaceful
home until this passes,

and just to get through this.

If not, it's gonna
be [bleep] show.

Hello.

What news do you have?

-We might have just found the honey.
-Okay.

We do have a little bit
more of a pertinent issue,

we need to talk about first.

Because it might
be the case that,

sharing with Jeff
is the better option,

just for this one thing.

He's on the verge of
coming up and [bleep] up,

-every one of our hunts.
-[Gary] Yeah.

[Waz] So, this might
just be a little bit of a...

Well not just that, also...

take the pelt out
from under and,

-not put it on the roof.
-Mmm-hmm.

If we don't start sharing stuff,

he's gonna make... you
guys don't know what it's like,

to live over there.

[Matt] You know, so
Gary is talking about how

Jeff is literally getting
ready to do just full sabotage

everything from hunting to
survival items, everything.

I'd rather bring him in, have
him be part of us to run smooth,

but then we have to
share some honey with him.

[Matt] Since it is a competition,
it's sure play each other

like you... like you need to.

It appears that...

that Gary wants to you know,
split the honey seven ways.

And, uh, you know what?

Sometimes when a
discussion is kinda heated,

you gotta let the other person
sorta take charge in order to,

de-escalate the situation.

Yeah, with this situation,

if that's how we
should split it up,

we can split it up
literally solid seven ways.

Awesome.

If we did find
honey in this hive

with little bit of a forward
thinking strategy there

of just... appeasing Jeff.

He does have the
capacity to try and hurt us

a little bit more by getting
in the way of the hunt so,

it's gonna suck a little bit
but that just makes sense.

-I gotta tell him now.
-[Waz] Yeah.

-He's part of the team, okay?
-[Sarah] Let's do to it.

Let's go get a beehive, dude.

Yeah, let's do it, baby.

I don't know where
this came from?

I don't know what kind of
"Kumbaya" talk they had over there,

um, but it's a nice,
uh, breath of fresh air.

So, around the corner slightly
is where we can see some bees.

Um, it's gonna get a little
sketch going around here.

So, we think it's up in
this rock base, somewhere.

I mean, that's serious
free solo [bleep].

-Yeah.
-Yeah.

-You can't have multiple people up there...
-Yeah, yeah.

...especially with
bees flying around.

God, I hope this pays
off. This will be cool.

[Jeff] Gary and Dan
are checking it out,

seeing if they can find
the hole, the source of

where the bees
are entering the cliff.

That may give us
some indication on,

where the honey is,
how deep it is in the cliff.

Uh, but this is hard.

I mean, this cliff is pretty
steep, pretty dangerous.

But, worth the shot.

Uh, honey is huge
in a survival situation.

Yeah, I see it.

[Dan] Where?

-You've to climb up and over that way?
-Yeah.

Right there.

So, just walk to it.

[straining]

Where?

I wanna know how
deep this is right here,

in case I got to bail.

'Cause they'll blind
us, by stinging our face.

[narrator] When a predator
disturbs an African beehive,

thousands of bees
will emerge and attack.

They become extremely
aggressive, targeting

darker parts of the human body,

such as the eyes,
ears, and mouth.

[Gary] ...deep it is Waz, about
out here where I'd be jumping.

[Waz] Gary wanted me
to check in the water to see

where the deep bits were
that he could jump into.

It was 4 feet deep in
some places, it was 6 deep

in other places, but
he's 20 foot up that cliff.

-There's a rock?
-Yeah, I see that rock.

[Gary] Yeah, I see it now.

So, up there,
there's a rock, uh?

Right there?

You can't jump that far.

I can jump that far, yeah.

[Dan] I'm not
jumping down there.

[Waz] It's a long jump.

[Waz speaking]

[Gary] This is where it's at.

[Dan] Don't Gary.

[Sarah] Oh, my gosh.

[Sarah] Oh, my gosh.

[Gary] This is where
it's at. [straining]

Gary Golding is willing to
stick his arm into a beehive,

on a cliff-face.

[Steven] 70 feet up in the air.

One foothold?

Good on him man.

[Matt laughing]

[Gary] I see the bees in there,

and they're kind of on the wall,

but they're going up into
another crack up higher,

and it's way longer
than I could reach in.

They're right here. I
see where they're going.

[Gary] I think all I'll end
up doing is agitating bees.

That would be the
outcome. [chuckles]

It's about two of my arm,
an arm and a half long and,

they're going up somewhere.

Yeah, there's
no getting to that.

Sorry, boys.

There's nothing
there worth getting.

Hey buddy, good shot.

-Yeah.
-It's worth the shot.

It kinda does make
me, uh, a little happy,

that my competition
doesn't have all of this honey,

the day before
the big competition,

because I feel strong.

Then I see some people
starting to fade a little bit,

Sarah has mentioned even
getting lightheaded and dizzy,

and I know members
of the other group,

must be feeling that too.

[Waz] Little bump back
there. It was nice while it lasted.

[Gary] You don't
know if you don't try.

Gary, you're a rockstar, man.

And sketch as hell.

[Steven] Only thing
goin' on tomorrow,

on our little map here.

We are approximately...

right about here...
right about here...

and that's where
we've gotta be so.

Uh, it might be a challenge,
it might be elimination,

it might be more caches.

You know, to really knock it
over the ball park tomorrow,

we need to be strong and
hydrated and work together.

We have no idea.

It's all speculation at
this point in time so,

let's kick ass and
take names out here.

[Matt] There is a
challenge tomorrow.

You know, there are
seven others right now,

and it's gonna be a
pretty healthy competition.

I don't know if someone
gets eliminated or not,

we'll find out tomorrow.

It was a turbulent day.

Tomorrow, it's on and cracking,

we find out what
this challenge is.

Tomorrow's the big
day, big mystery day.

And we don't even know if it's

us against them
or if it's individual.

We've no idea.

I kinda want tomorrow to
be as difficult as possible,

because I believe
that will separate,

uh, the wheat from the chaff.

No matter what the situation is,

I feel like we've got this.

You know, we're the, uh,

little island of
misfits over here.

-[Sarah chuckles]
-Yeah, we are.

[Sarah] Whether
we like it or not,

we're stuck with Jeff as
a member of our team.

And, honestly I
still don't trust him,

as far as I could throw the guy.

We've already lost
one from our group.

-[Sarah] Yeah.
-And, uh, I don't want to lose another.

So, the three of us,
let's sit around this fire

tomorrow night, high
fiving one another.

-Let's do it to it.
-[Jeff] Yeah.

That would be nice.

[Jeff] Sarah, you
didn't give me a chance.

If you're eliminated
tomorrow, uh, you know what,

[clicks tongue] maybe
better off without you.

Let's get our rest
tonight, hydrate up,

fuel up,

we'll be ready to go.

We have war paint. We're
gonna put war paint on us.

[bleep] yeah.

[Waz] It's the
morning of day 28.

That means, it's
four weeks today.

Today, brings something.

We think it's a challenge.

We're gonna see what sort
of stuff we have to get up to.

It could be anything.

[Matt] This is the first time we've
done one of these challenges,

-without actually migrating.
-Yeah.

-We have no idea what's happening.
-Yeah.

-It's like day 7 all over again.
-Yeah.

Now, we have no idea if
we're facing each other,

if we're going in as a group,

but we are ready
for the game to begin.

All right, boys. You
ready to rock and roll?

-[all] Let's do it to it.
-All right.

Let's go find out
what's in store.

All right. So, our camp
is right down by the river.

We are right in here.

Yeah, so we go right
there by those acacias.

All right, well. Ready for
whatever this future holds.

All right, guys.

Hey, if we're doing
this as a team,

let's kick ass
and let's do this.

All right, that's
what we're here for.

[Sarah] I'm out here to
compete against other people,

other survivalists.

I am the last woman
out here, so, uh,

I don't have quit in me and, uh,

I'm gonna make it
through to the end.

Uh-huh.

We've got a map.

-[Gary] Uh-huh.
-[Jeff] It's got a lot of writing on it too.

[Gary] This is Christmas
morning as I call it.

The morning when you find out

the treats you get and
the destiny you will receive.

-Yeah, look at this.
-Huh.

In formation.

[Matt] So, not knowing if
it's a group challenge or not,

we figured the other
group is gonna probably,

run out there all gung-ho-like.

While we kind of take our time

and we're gonna swagger
out there a few minutes later.

We're gonna let them sit
down and simmer down a bit,

while they watch the A
team come into battle.

[grunts]

Right here, line up everybody.

[growling]

[Steven] We felt
strong. We felt confident.

You know, we came in with
some charcoal on our faces,

and some testosterone goin'.

And you know, we
showed up to the challenge,

like a bunch of alphas for sure.

-[Sarah] Hey, guys.
-[grunting]

[growling]

Yeah, what's up?

Well, it's war day, innit?

[Sarah] Yeah, sure is.

-[Dan] Look at that map.
-[Steven] Okay.

"Today will be a critical test,

of your tracking
and survival skills."

[narrator] The survivalists
must find one of two trees,

marked with animal skulls.

There, each will use
their tracking skills,

to follow a trail of
10 bones to its end,

where they will
dig to find a cache,

containing further instructions.

There are seven caches,
one for each survivalist.

"This time, you will all
compete as individuals.

So, you must work alone.

The last person to succeed,

will face immediate extraction

and be removed
from the challenge."

-Okay.
-Wow.

Wow. Well, uh,
this is huge news.

This is the first
elimination challenge,

of this entire competition.

-Every person for themselves.
-Yeah.

[Steven] Nobody has
ever been eliminated

from a Naked and
Afraid's tap out.

It's voluntary, medical, um,

this is a
see-you-later situation.

-Do we find the trees first?
-Yeah.

You gotta find the
trees, then from the trees,

you track 10 bones.

Those bones lead
you to the cache.

-Okay, and to clarify, one of seven caches.
-Yup.

"Find one of seven
caches hidden on the plain."

[Matt] First elimination day,

and somebody is
going home today.

"Once you have
unearthed a cache,

the next step will be revealed."

[Jeff] Then the pressure, the anxiety,
the butterflies you get in your stomach,

competition is here. Let's go.

[Jeff] Who knows who the last
one standing is gonna be but,

today, we're definitely gonna
get closer to that individual.

All right, guys.
Good luck, everyone.

[speaking indistinctly]

-Love you, guys.
-Love you, guys.

-You guys ready?
-Yeah.

Let's go.

[Waz] It's $100,000
on the table.

Someone's about to go
home. I don't want to be

the first one to go home,

so I start at a pretty fast jog.

[Jeff] So, I take off like
a gazelle. I'm fast, I'm fit.

I wanna be the first out
there to like just find a trail,

like get to it and get it done.

[Steven] It's really rough
terrain. It's dangerous.

You can break an
ankle, break a leg.

A lot of things can take
you out of this game.

[narrator] As they
approach the first tree,

marked with a skull,
marked with a skull,

Dan and Jeff are
ahead of the pack.

[Matt] We're get
off on this challenge,

and the pace is fast.

Foot racing it to the extreme.

[Matt groans]

I got a cramp.

Not a good time to
get a cramp. [groaning]

I have a pain in my calf
that I can't even explain.

No. Damn it.

Like an explosion, arrow,

a bullet wound, I
have no idea, it is bad.

I'm probably gonna be the
first one to get eliminated.

[groans]

[growling]

[panting]

[groans] [bleep]

[Matt] I have a pain in
my calf, but if I lay down

and try to assess
my calf right now,

I'm probably gonna be the
first one to get eliminated.

Obviously, I'm well
adapted to tracking.

[groaning] [bleep] Okay.

I'm looking for bones.

[Steven] This is a
time-sensitive challenge.

There are only
seven bone trails and,

if there's six people
already on 'em,

and you pick the
wrong one to follow,

you might not find a cache.

[bleep] come on.

[Waz] There's an
elimination challenge today.

We have to track a
bone trail to a cache.

Once we get to that
tenth bone, we dig it up.

Last person to
finish is going home.

[sighs]

Two.

Yeah. Here we go.

A bone.

[narrator] While Matt
struggles to catch up,

Gary and Dan have
located a bone trail.

The others are still
looking for trails.

[panting] Oh. Jesus. Ow. [bleep]

[exhales] Come on.

You know, so, as soon as we got
to the first tree with the bone trail,

I decided, you know what,

there's no use in continue to follow
this trail if I'm behind somebody.

So, instead, I decided to
run or, yeah, I should say,

hopscotch... my ass
over to the second tree.

[groans]

[panting] Three. Whoo.

Off to a good start.

You're tracking. You're not just
looking for one particular thing.

You're also looking for
things like scuffs in the dirt,

or a rock that's
been turned over,

and left a smooth spot
where the moss used to be.

Five.

Just found a bone.

All right. This is
good trail right here.

We all, we're in high
intensity survival mode.

Seven elite survivalist
charging to survive elimination.

[Gary] Another bone.

Bones.

[narrator] With no
caches claimed,

Sarah, Dan and Gary are
making progress on their trails.

But Steven is on the
same trail as Gary.

[panting]

Another bone.

I'm on my third one.

If you know what to look
for, if, if you look at the ground

and you see the
debris kicked up,

these are these tiny signs
that, that help you in tracking.

[exhales]

Trump's cache [bleep]

I picked up a trail,

and, uh, by the time I was on bone
three, Gary already found the cache.

So, I, I had to
pick a new trail.

By this time, trails
are being picked up.

[Gary panting]

It's a knife,

some cortege,

and a map.

"Use these tools to build
a working spring trap."

I gotta make me
a spring snare trap.

[narrator] To build
a spring snare,

a cortege lasso
is tied to a branch.

Then kept under tension
with a notch trigger stick

attached to a
stake in the ground.

When an animal walks through the
opening of the lasso to eat the bait,

it knocked the
trigger off the stake,

'causing the branch
to snap back up,

cinching the lasso
around the prey.

[panting] Eight.

Nine. One more, one more.

Found it.

Oh.

[bleep] Are you kidding me?

"Use these tools to build
a working spring trap.

"When you have successfully
tested your trap, reset the snare,

"then navigate to the water
hole to avoid elimination."

Okay.

So, looking for something good
to make a spring snare out of, uh...

I gotta do this and then
go to the water hole.

[panting]

-[Waz] You on anything yet?
-Yeah. I'm on that trail.

[Waz] Okay.

After looking around, I've noticed
a couple of other people on trail.

So I don't know
how many are left.

What I'm gonna do is, I'm
gonna head for that second tree

and see if I can get on
a bone trail real quickly.

[narrator] Two caches
have been claimed.

Five more are still available.

A bone.

[exhales]

Yes. Okay.

Okay.

Yeah. Whoo!

Whoo!

This is what I live for!

Baby, I found the knife, I found
this scroll with further instructions.

I'm stoked right now.

Yeah, baby.

Whoo! [echoes]

-Yep.
-[Jeff] Whoo! [echoes]

-This is what I live for.
-[Gary] Great.

We got a competition right now.

All right. Here we go.

This is number one.

Two.

So that's three.

Maybe this is four.

As I'm finding the
first couple of bones,

I'm, what I have trouble
about, the fourth bone,

sort of, just walked out, did a bit
of a circle till I found that next bone.

Seven.

Eight.

Nine.

This might be 10.

I'm gonna dig this one and see.

And once I found that tenth one,

I, I dug up that
cache straight away.

So I've got a knife.
I've also got a map.

I need to build a
spring snare trap,

which I'm pretty familiar with.

So I'm pretty
comfortable with this.

I'm, I'm just gonna find a bush class
bark, gonna set this up real quick,

And then, uh, follow
the next instructions.

[narrator] Gary, Dan, Jeff
and Waz found their cache,

and now move on
to the spring snare.

Matt and Steven are
still searching for a trail,

while Sarah tries to
locate her tenth bone.

[Matt] We have one.

[panting] Two.

Pain, it is bad. It is sending
shockwaves to my brain.

And it's hard to
turn off the pain.

But I'm in a war. It's
amidst a battle right now.

And I'm pretty sure I'm behind
some of the other survivalist.

I don't wanna get eliminated.

Sixth bone. [sighs]

But I can track an animal
anywhere on the planet.

Oh, right here.

[groans] It could be
possible this is the tenth one.

Hey. Come on.

Oh, come on.

There we go. There we go.

Okay.

Oh, my [bleep] leg. Oh.

To move on this leg,
right now, is rough.

I'm in a foot race for time.

And I have only one foot in it.

Oh, gee.

[narrator] Matt joins the
others to build his spring snare,

with only Steven and Sarah
searching for the two remaining caches.

[Steven] All right. We
gotta find your bone here.

Bones.

[grunts]

[Sarah] Eight.

Eight or nine.
Somewhere in there

there is a bone... that I missed

when I started looking.

So my numbers are off.

I got a bone right
there. It's my third bone.

And there's another one.

[exhales]

[Sarah] It's gotta be
around here somewhere.

Are you on my trail?

-I don't know.
-Yeah.

[Sarah] This is my trail.

-[Steven] Maybe.
-[Sarah] Yep.

Steven and I spent
21 days together.

And it's not a fair
way to treat me.

[Steven] All right.
Maybe this is bone 10.

Ha-ha.

Got it.

[Sarah] I guess, Steven just
found the cache that I was on

after following me
to the last few bones.

Well, [bleep]

Steven really [bleep]
me on this one.

Ha-ha!

Got it.

[sighs] Well, [bleep]

You know, I was
so close and then...

Steven just comes in and
snatches my victory from me.

Yeah. I got caught on the
same trail here. Let's see.

Sarah was there, um, I
started following a bone trail.

Apparently, it was
hers that she was on.

And I, I found the cache.

"If successfully tested
your trap, reset the snare,

"then navigate to the water
hole to avoid elimination."

All right.

I don't feel like I
did anything wrong.

[narrator] With six cache
claimed, only one remains.

Four hundred yards away on the
opposite side of the competition area.

So the issue that
I'm facing right now,

is I don't know how many
people have found their maps.

I could be going off
on any of these trails,

and not know...

if that trail is dead end because
the map has already been found.

Steven really [bleep]
me on this one.

So smart move on Steven's
part. Leech off of my success.

I'm a little surprised
and definitely hurt

that Steven, you know, jumped
to this, kind of, tactic, honestly.

It's the, kind of, stuff
I'd expect from Jeff.

This maybe the best bet.

Gosh. Darn, these are strong.

Gotta find good material
to make a spring snare.

So when you're
making a spring snare,

basically, the spring portion,
you wanna find a branch like this,

this is gonna be a good one.

It's gonna be nice and
close to the ground.

And, basically, I'm gonna use
a... uh, a little piece of wood.

It's gonna hold it down there

and as soon as the animal
comes through and triggers that,

this is gonna fly back up.

I was the first one
to find the cache.

So I'm not off to a bad start.

[grunts] So what I'm doing is I
pick the, uh, good hardwood here,

because... I gotta
pound it into the ground.

[exhales, grunts]

All right. Use sufficient force.

This is the, uh...

It's a pretty strong tree.

But I need...

Oh, [bleep] All right.

I'm gonna need to
attach a couple together.

[grunts, bleep]

My leg is hindering me
bad. The pain is excruciating,

it's throwing my mind crazy,
but I have to stay focus.

And now is no time to panic.

You panic now,
you're gonna lose.

But I have made so many
of these traps in my life,

that I could do it blindfolded.

Definitely, don't know why I
have to make a spring snare...

on the fly like this.

So... it, definitely,
might be the fastest one

I may ever have to
make in my entire life.

This is, probably, one
of the hardest parts,

which is...

getting this thing to
stick on the ground

'cause this ground
here is tough.

I don't know if it's
gonna hold, but we'll try.

[bleep] It's not gonna work.

I can't bury this into the
ground. The ground's too hard.

So... I'm not gonna waste time
trying to bury this in the ground.

This has to hold the force.

It's very difficult to dig
a hole, put a post in.

Rather than putting that post
into the ground I've tied it to a rock,

that's gonna hold
that post in place,

so when I pull up on
it, it's got nowhere to go.

Sometimes you need to
think outside the box here.

And that's exactly
what I'm doing.

I have no idea who
else has found anything.

But now...

I need to find a
new trail to track.

It's seems like there's not too
many people out here right now.

So I think what I'm gonna do
is head over to the other tree.

See about tracking from there.

This is good for
small game, like...

rabbits,

one of the little small mammals.

They follow predictable trails,

a lot of time you can put
bait around these snares

to lure them to a certain spot,

or put debris around to crown
through, something like that.

I, really, don't know what's
going on with everybody else.

I haven't seen anyone run
past me or anything like that.

Ready?

Ready to test it?

Let's see.

Got it.

Okay. Reset the snare.

I'm out here with some
strong skilled people,

but I'm not even
thinking about them.

I just need to move on to the
next level of this competition.

Okay.

I did it.

See what I got what
we need. All right.

Ooh, my God.

Man, this ground
is rock, rock hard.

Okay.

So what I'm gonna do...
is I'm gonna try to use...

one of these that's
already in the ground.

So what I decided to do is use a plant
growing up out of the ground already.

That plant is anchored
into the soil by roots.

And I'm gonna cut a notch
on the stem of this plant,

in order to hang my trigger
stick from the spring snare.

There's been so much
trash talking, lately.

People talking bad about me.

And now, I finally
get the chance...

to... eliminate
someone based on skill.

But pretty soon... it's
gonna be five versus one.

Looking for a tree that's
got a good limb on it.

And a sapling close to it,
so I can build a spring snare.

This is something I've done
before, multiple, multiple times

in, uh, Louisiana.

I have, literally, spent hours and
hours setting these up in the field.

I can, literally, do this
with my eyes closed.

Got my sapling... base.

Now I gotta make
my spring snare.

Oh, [bleep]

[grunts, exhales]

[bleep] My leg is in pain.

It is, without a doubt...

I am in a...

in a rough...

rough place when it comes
to... the pain right now.

[exhales]

All right.

The trap animal goes in.

[exhales, grunts]

Okay.

[grunts, bleep] Okay. [grunts]

No time to slow down. I
have no idea who's there.

There should be no reason why any
single person here shouldn't beat me.

I'm moving so slow that I anticipate
now that I may be eliminated.

[exhales] Geez.

There is it. Ten. Right there.

Let's see what we got.

[groans] Looks like we
got something. All right.

Oh, look. A knife.

I see that I'm the last
person to find the cache,

but on past challenges, you
know, I've faced a lot of adversity.

But, no matter what, I continue
persevering and that's just my nature.

"When you have successfully
tested your trap, reset the snare,

"then navigate to the water
hole to avoid elimination."

[bleep] I've gotta hurry.

Okay.

I'm ready. Let's test it.

All right. So now...

I'm gonna test it out. So the
animal comes through here,

walks through the snare.

It gets caught around the
neck. Tries to get away,

and...

And it gets...

And it gets hung up.

Growing up playing sports,
my coaches always taught me,

"You win before you ever
even step on the field."

Okay. So... I've got
the snare complete.

Now to the pond.

I came prepared.

And all of my competitors,
And all of my competitors,

they're not comfortable
with this level of competition.

Me? I thrive off this.

Feels great, baby.

All right.

Let's see how this goes.

This ground here is so
hard. I had to improvise, so.

Rather than putting
that post into the ground,

I've tied it to a rock and put a
heavier rock on top of that rock.

That's gonna hold
that post in place.

So when I pull up on
it, it's got nowhere to go.

This is a little
temperamental bit.

Here's the animal.

Animal comes through,

pokes its head through,

and...

Hold the gap off again.

I need to reset it.

It's just a case of
keeping your cool.

You're able to, logically, solve
problems, if you, if you keep your cool.

If you let yourself get
worked up by emotions,

you're never gonna
problem-solve anything.

Reset, ready to go.

I got one knife and I'm heading
back to the... water pond.

Ready.

I did it. Whoo!

Six sets here.

Doing good, apparently.

Did something right.

"Congratulations on making through
Day 28 and avoiding elimination.

"You are now among the elite
few remaining in this challenge."

Whoo!

There are six.

I'm the first.

That is amazing.

Ooh, my God.

[Matt] Whoo-whop.

I can see you're here, Dan.

I'm sorry you're number two.

[Matt] I'll let you have a
one spot once in a while.

Get down here.

[groans]

[Matt] First thing surprised me

was that how the hell
am I second place here

when I had this leg slowing
me down worse than anybody.

It, uh, so I just, uh...

This guy looks good.

-You fall?
-[Matt] No.

No, it just... I
don't, I don't know.

I don't know.

-[Dan] Just caught a...
-Just caught a little gofer hole or somethin'.

-And it, uh...
-Twisted a little bit?

No, just like...

It just, like, seized up.

Oh, sweet Jesus.

[Jeff] Whoo!

Whoo!

[groans, bleep]

This is what I live for.

Whoo!

I'm not, I'm not gonna be
seen sitting on the ground.

[Jeff] We got a
competition now, baby.

Whoo!

[Dan] Took so long,
I almost took a nap.

-[Jeff] Uh-huh.
-[Dan] No, I'm being for real.

Oh, whatever.

-How are you two?
-Good.

-[Jeff] It's good,
-Get your scroll.

[Jeff] I'm stoked to be here.
I'm here with Matt and Dan.

And they don't seem too excited
to see me, to be honest with you.

-Are you guys the first two here?
-[Dan] Yeah.

Now we gotta wonder
who's gonna be eliminated.

-Yeah.
-[Jeff] Yeah.

-Whoo!
-[Dan] Come on, Awaz.

Let me see you sweat.

-[laughs]
-[Dan hoots]

Pick one of these.

[Waz] I'm fourth.

We've got Sarah, we've got Gary,

and we've got Steven Lee
Hall Jr. out on the field still.

There's only two more spots.

[Gary] Oh, damn.

It's 28 days in and
someone's got to go.

And I'm thinking it might be me.

It definitely throws me
off to be screwed over

in the middle of this challenge,

especially by somebody who

you know, I spend 21 days out
here with that I thought was my friend.

So, I got my spring
snare, I got my noose...

All right.

All right.

[Steven] I'm really not paying
attention to what's happening around me,

I have a set goal,
because once I finish this,

I go to the finish line,

and once I go to the finish line,
I make it... to... to the next day.

Got my stick.

Good.

I busted out that spring snare.

Lickety-split, good five
minutes I was dunzo.

[Sarah] [bleep]

I gotta [bleep] hurry.

Uh, crap man.

I'm having trouble
with the spring snare

playing with it,
trying to get it work.

My original noose here.

This is just too... high.

-Whoo.
-Yeah.

-Come on...
-[all cheering]

I'm running.

[Steven] So, I'm
running to the lake

I'm looking and there's...
there's four of them there.

And I know that Gary and
Sarah are the two people behind.

Grab you one of them
bud, grab that, grab that.

Yeah!

You know, one of
them is not coming back.

-[all exclaiming]
-Ah!

[indistinct chatter]

I can't care about what's
happening over there.

[Gary] It's the second time where I'm the
first one to the first part of then challenge.

And then almost last on the
second part of the challenge.

[Sarah] When you have
successfully tested your trap

reset the snare then navigate to
the water hole to avoid elimination.

That means I
gotta [bleep] hurry.

[Steven] This time,

the last person to succeed will
be removed from the challenge.

-Okay.
-[man] Woah.

[narrator] For this competition,
PSR or Primitive Survival Rating

weighs an individual's survival
skills and items collected

to determine the likelihood of
becoming the last one standing.

Working on getting this
fishing cache A long time...

Ha-ha, Whoo.

[narrator] Dan successfully
found the fishing net.

Okay, I did it.

[narrator] As well as finishing
first in the elimination challenge.

I am the first, that is amazing.

Oh, my God.

[narrator] These wins boost his PSR
up from nine point two to nine point four.

I can see you here, Dan.

I'm sorry you're number two.

[Matt] I'll let you have a
one spot once in a while.

[narrator] Though he achieved a second
place finish in the day 28 challenge...

Ah!

...a leg injury put Matt's
challenge in question...

Uh-huh oh, jeez.

...dropping his PSR from
nine point eight to nine point six.

Yeah! Got me a fish.

[narrator] Despite her
many fishing successes...

[Sarah exhales]
This is my trail.

-Maybe...
-Yeah.

[narrator] ...the bone trial
challenge leaves Sarah

the last woman in the competition
at a high risk of elimination...

Ha-ha. Got it.

Steven really
[bleep] on this one.

[narrator] ...dropping her PSR from
eight point four to eight point two.

Dang. It worked before.

That's frustrating.

[bleep]

Wait, who's that?

Someone coming?

Who... who is that?

-[Steven] It's Gary.
-Uh-oh.

[Matt] Gary!

[Gary] Oh, my God. [panting]

Gary run!

Coming in from eleven
o'clock here he is.

[panting]

-You're good...
-Slide, slide... Coming in hot.

[all] Yes!

Safe.

Huh. [bleep].

-You're good buddy.
-Ah.

Gary stand up. I mean come here.

Come here, come here.

-Come here, yeah.
-Congrats buddy.

I made it.

I made it, the first
elimination challenge.

I actually conquered.

And I made it.

It's gonna be me
and survival legends.

-Bitter sweet, Sarah's gotta go.
-I... I wish, I wish.

It's the nature of this
kind of competition

is there's going to be an
elimination somebody's gonna go.

You know what, I don't
wanna see Sarah go.

But I'd rather be
partnered with Gary.

Gary's been coming
around the past few days,

uh, he's opening up
to me a little bit more.

We've been working
closely together.

-She's been the last female standing.
-Yeah.

And it's a... And it's a...

-That's... That's a credit all in its own.
-Yeah.

You know.

[Sarah grunts]

Uh, I'm feeling really [bleep]
about Steven right now.

That's what I'm
feeling, but you know,

this is the competition
it's how it goes.

I really wish things could've
panned out differently.

There she is.

-Sarah!
-[all cheering]

[Gary] Yaay.

Well you'll get the
beer and the burger.

Yeah, thanks to you.

[Steven] Ha-ha, sorry.

You wanna tell me what happened?

-I lost the trail and...
-Ended up on mine.

-I mean it's...
-I was on boat number nine.

At holes all of us do that.

I'm sorry, I don't
know... I don't...

I stayed on every
trail that I tracked.

I didn't have that problem.

-I...
-I had the same problem.

Gary... Gary was in
front of me on mine.

Well I didn't go out of
my way to take your glory.

I even said, "Oh
you're on my trail."

-That would've been a good opportunity.
-All the other ones

were taking Sarah, what
do you want me to do.

-Go to a different trail.
-He didn't... he didn't.

-They... they were
gone. Matt took... -I know.

I followed one
and Matt found his,

I followed another
one, Gary was on his.

-[indistinct conversation] -You...
you walked back to the thing and I

found that other
one and there it was.

-[Sarah sighs] -It's not personal...
I didn't what was I supposed to do?

Find a different trail.

That's what I would've done.

How... how was I
supposed to find another trail

when three of them
are already gone.

Still sucks dude.

It's gonna be hard
to forgive you dude.

[Steven] You know for
her to come to me and

say that she is super
upset with me and

she might never forgive me,
she might never forgive me,

It... it took my joy away.

You know I completed it.

-You were a warrior out there girl.
-Yes.

[Sarah] I guess it's time to
pack up and say goodbye.

Not the way I wanted to go but you know,
it's better than being medically evacuated

and I certainly didn't
want to tap out so uh,

I still consider this a win.

You did good girl, proud of you.

[Sarah] Thanks guys.

-Be proud of yourself. I love you so much.
-You did great.

-Thank you.
-I... I just wished I could've accomplished more.

Hey, what you did
never can be taken away.

So don't ever let
it diminish okay?

[Sarah] The other thing that
kind of stinks is the fact that

it's gonna be the last man standing
because I was the last woman out here.

And I wanted to be
the last woman out here.

[Sarah sighs]

[Gary] It's bitter sweet
you know it puts everyone

one step closer
to the grand prize.

And uh...

It's sad to see her go.

Ow, ow, ow, ow!

[Steven] I didn't wanna be the one to
eliminate my own first partner out here

but this is a competition,

I didn't break any rules, I
completed the challenge.

Somebody had to
be eliminated and um,

I live guilt free.

Wow! Half of us are left.

We're down to six.

It's a weird moment.

-The eliminations begin.
-They have to.

This is the all-star
crew right here.

Till the... till the next chapter
of this adventure comes.

You know, my legs hurt, and so
right now, most important thing,

is to get myself better
to keep in the fight.

-You good?
-I'm good.

-Yeah, I'll make it.
-Let's do it.

[Matt] But without a doubt,
it hurts to move right now.

-Can I help you out Matt?
-I don't, ah!

[bleep].

[Matt] And there's a good
chance that I might be eliminated.
