Is It Cake? (2022–…): Season 1, Episode 8 - Winner Fakes All! - full transcript

The top three contenders design the cakes of their dreams for a shot at a $50,000 prize. Guest judges: Loni Love Bobby Moynihan and Karamo Brown.

[opening theme music playing]

Are you kidding me?

[bakers laughing, chatting]

-[Hemu] Wow.
-[Andrew] Oh my...

I need this throne at my house.

Winner needs to get this.

[in villainous voice] Hello, bakers,

and welcome to the finale!

[whooping]

-Do you like my throne?
-Love it.

-We want it.
-I need it.

Does it remind you of something
out of the hit TV show Game of...

Sorry.

The Witcher, the Netflix Original
fantasy series?

-[laughing]
-[Jonny] Yes.

Thank you, Jonny!

You shall live.

[exhales sharply]

All right. Bakers,

everything you have worked so hard for

has come down to this moment.

You've persevered
through pounds of fondant,

modeling chocolate

and, of course, tiltscape... Steve.

...to make it here,

but only one of you can walk away
as the Is It Cake? champion

and take home $50,000!

[whooping]

All right, bakers, one last time
we're going to play Find That Cake!

Yes!

Today holds a very special advantage
for whoever wins.

Cake Wall, spin for me!

Oh ho ho ho ho ho!

-But that...
-What the...

[Mikey] That's right.

-[Hemu] Invisible one.
-[Dessiree] Oh man.

[Mikey] One of these podiums is cake!

-[Hemu] No.
-Are you...

I'm not lying! One podium is cake!

-[Sam] No way.
-[Jonny] No!

-[Sam] Jesus!
-It's the finale, folks!

You'll have 20 seconds to find the cake
and lock in your answers.

This is shenanigans.

Your time starts now.

[tense music playing]

[Mikey] Welcome to the fun house.

Ten seconds.

Five seconds.

-[Mikey] April. Three, two, one.
-I did it! I did...

[Mikey] Time's up.

Surprised?

-[Andrew] Yeah.
-[laughing]

Let's see who got it right.

April, you picked Number Two. Why?

[April] The corners are a little rounder,
and I see a little dent

that's highlighted by the light.

-Yeah.
-Let's find out if it's cake.

Yes, that's right.

-They gave an idiot a machete.
-[bakers laughing]

Here we go, bakers.

Is it cake?

[tense music playing]

[April squeals]

-[Mikey grunts]
-[Andrew chuckles]

-[April squeals]
-[Andrew chuckles]

[grunts heavily]

That's cake. That's cake.

[grunts] Damn you, podium!

Here's Johnny!

-[laughing]
-[Mikey grunts]

-Yes! That's cake.
-[April] Oh my God!

[Hemu] Yeah! Oh, sprinkles!

-[April] Oh my God!
-[Andrew] Oh wow.

As you can see, it's cake.

[clapping, whooping]

[grunts]

All of you found it,

but one of you found it fastest.

That lucky baker is...

April.

-[cheering]
-Yes!

You have won a very important advantage

that will help you
in this final challenge.

There's a reason
that these podiums are empty,

because today we're
not telling you what to make.

-[Hemu] Ooh.
-Huh.

Now I'm sure each of you has an object

that you've always wanted
to turn into an amazing cake.

Well, now's your chance.

You can create any cake that you think
is worthy of $50,000.

Just remember, you need
to blow our judges' minds

and trick their eyes.

We are expecting to see
spectacular cakes, but...

you won't be doing it alone.

Gallery, please join us.

[bakers laugh nervously]

[Dessiree] This is crazy.

[Jonny] Oh, this is a crazy day.

Did you hear that? The sound
of Jonny's mind being blown.

Let me tell you something.
This is a great show.

-I really think people should watch it.
-[laughing]

Each of you will get to choose
one of the eliminated bakers

to help you in the kitchen
as your baking assistant.

You can use your baking assistant
however you see fit

for the entire duration of the bake

to help you create the cake
of your dreams.

It's our gift to you.

And April, as the first person
to find the cake podium,

you get first pick.

A lot of talent up there.

So much talent.

I would be happy to have
any one of these amazing bakers with me.

I'm gonna go with my girl Nina.

Nina!

[whooping]

I like it.

Yes.

The baker to come in second was...

-Andrew.
-Oh.

Who would you like
as your baking assistant?

I don't know.

-I pick Jonny.
-Jonny!

[mock surprise] Little old me?

Great choice.

And, finally, Hemu, who will be
joining you in the kitchen?

I think...

Dessiree, because she wanted
one more chance

to show her skill to her daughter.

Aw!

Dessiree!

Welcome. That is awesome.

-Andrew, April and Hemu...
-Mm-hmm.

...I don't want to keep you
from that $50,000 any longer,

so it's time to play,
one last time, Is It Cake?

It is time for you to get to work

and design the hyper-realistic cake
of your dreams.

All of you will get 12 hours.

-Ooh!
-Wow.

Head to the kitchen and suit up,
and bring your assistants.

The others, go to the gallery.

[echoing] It's time to bake!

[upbeat music playing]

This is the shell. I was thinking...

Have you ever seen those vintage
Singer sewing machines?

Here's what I'm thinking.

I wanna do a little suitcase.

I want it to be weathered
with travel stamps over it.

Pieces of fabric hanging out
that look like my clothing, you know?

So, I'm thinking
to make a stone sculpture.

They look rustic
and antique kind of stuff.

There's a lot of marble texture.

-You ready to do this, girl? Yes!
-You got this.

I'm thinking I wanna do, like, a suitcase.

It's gonna be really hard,
but it's worth it.

It's just a suitcase,
but it's very symbolic

because my first ever sculpted cake

was a suitcase cake
that I made for my husband.

The very first cake I ever did
was a suitcase for my husband

as a gift before we embarked on a journey
around the world,

and a huge part of my marriage to
my husband is seeing the world together,

down to the fact that I'm
covered in my passport stamps.

This was the first place we went,
Costa Rica.

-[Jonny] Where else?
-Machu Picchu. There's Thailand.

-This is our life. Yeah.
-I love it.

The story behind this is I lived
with my grandmother for a long time.

-She taught me how to sew.
-Aw!

My grandmother was around
for all my childhood.

She was constantly mending things.

And the sewing machine is a nod

to those amazing skills
that my grandmother taught me.

I want this cake to sort of bring back
that feeling of my childhood,

because any time food can
bring back a memory,

it always tastes better.

So, I've decided to make a s'mores cake.

Just so it's like that kind of
golden graham-crackery thing.

We've got vanilla-cinnamon cake batter

to give kind of
a warm graham cracker flavor,

dark chocolate ganache,

and, of course, roasted marshmallow
Swiss meringue buttercream

full of charred marshmallows.

I wanna make sure
when you take a bite into that,

you think of a s'more.

-Smells like camping.
-Right.

What you got going on over there, Hemu?

I'm making a stone sculpture.

I'm choosing a bust cake

because when it comes to
making bust cakes,

old artifacts, antique cakes,
it's my art. It's my art.

But it's really easy to make mistakes,

so I have to get that sculpture
looking absolutely perfect.

Like you see in Italy.
You go and you see the sculptures.

Absolutely.

So, our flavors are
like you're having a coffee

and you're eating the biscuits
and watching the sculptures.

-Coffee?
-Yes.

[laughs] Oh my God.
We're doing the same thing.

I'm making vanilla cake
with coffee Swiss meringue buttercream,

toasted hazelnuts and brownie.

If they're doing coffee,
we should add ladyfingers to ours.

I think we should do
the ladyfingers, for sure.

I decided to do two flavors
for my suitcase

just to have the opportunity
to show some of my creativity.

This is the finale.
I wanna blow the judges' minds.

So, I'm doing a tiramisu cake
with vanilla cake,

espresso buttercream, mascarpone cheese,

and a chocolate ganache,

and some crushed-up ladyfingers.

For the other side of my suitcase,
I'm doing a baklava cake

made with pistachio cake,
rose honey buttercream,

and some crushed-up pistachios

and a little bit of fig jam.

Oh, that's delicious.

[funky music playing]

Bakers, it's me!

Hey, Mikey.

I was hiding. I have your decoys here.

April, I have your vintage
sewing machines.

Andrew, your old-timey hobo suitcases,

or the suitcase
that Where's Waldo carries around.

[Andrew laughs]

-And Hemu...
-Yes.

-...I have your old busts.
-Perfect.

And here's another thing.

It's gonna be a little harder
to deceive the judges this time,

'cause you're working with one less decoy.

That means there will only be four podiums
when the judges are looking for your cake.

So, every detail is very important.

If they gave me, like,
nine sewing machines to put up there,

I'd feel a lot more confident.

But now we're working with three.

This is gonna make things so much harder.

[Mikey] All right, good luck.
I'll be back to check on you later.

I'm obsessed with this.

It looks so pretty.

-This is heavy.
-Yeah, they're heavy.

None of these have a light bulb.
Interesting.

In these old sewing machines,
there is often a light bulb on the back.

If we put a light bulb and none of them
really have a light bulb

that's gonna throw them off.

If we can execute that, that is really
going to astound the judges.

So, Nina is making an isomalt light bulb
for this cake.

-Oh, is that one tinted?
-Yeah.

-Oh, that's so good. Yes.
-It looks aged, right?

-[April] Maybe we can mold the hand wheel?
-[Nina] Uh-huh.

Adding on all these details
is actually really hard to do.

But throughout this competition,
I've learned a lot.

I've learned that I can
rise to the occasion.

I've learned that I can
do something scary and excel.

-Look how this looks kinda like thread.
-Oh man, that'd be amazing.

I'm really proud of myself!
I'm really excited,

and I really, really wanna win that money.

That's gonna be good. Yeah.

[both laughing]

Okay, bakers, six hours left.

Six hours.

[upbeat music playing]

[Andrew] I start stacking my tiramisu cake
and then the baklava cake,

and I keep laying my cakes in this order
until I get the right height

for the suitcase.

So, I'll line it up and you look.

This cake could easily
feed several hundred people.

It's a lot of cake.

I've nervous that,
because it is so incredibly big

the judges are gonna be
able to look at all the fine details

that I know that they weren't gonna see
from a small cake.

But it's the finale,
so I gotta go big with this thing.

It's go big or go home.

I can start ganaching this,
and you can do the Flexique.

[Jonny] Yeah.

-[Hemu] This height is enough.
-Not too big for the face?

Like, it's gonna sculpt.

All of my cake will be
in her shoulders, her bust,

but, right now,
it just looks like a rectangle.

I have to carve it in the shape of bust

and build the shoulders.

I want that grand title of winner
because of my sister.

She passed away this January.

She would go gaga about everything I do.

I know wherever she is,

she's gonna be so happy
to see me winning the title.

I need to put now her head
and then see how I'm gonna do it.

Four hours, bakers.

-Four hours.
-[upbeat music playing]

-I think it's big enough.
-You do?

Hold it up again.

I decided to cover the cake
with modeling chocolate

because it's really forgiving with seams.

It takes on textures well.

[gasps] Oh my God, did you
use that whole container of chocolate?

-[Jonny] Of course.
-Love it.

To get this leather texture of the cake,
it's one of the most important details.

The whole suitcase is gonna sell
by looking like actual leather.

So, we start by using
a distressed leather texture mat,

and, you know,
wear and age with the color dust.

-Andrew, that looks like leather.
-Right?

[Jonny] That's awesome.

[Hemu] For the bust,
it's important to have a good structure

because it's made mainly
out of modeling chocolate,

and modeling chocolate is heavy.

I'm using a wooden board and a PVC pipe
for my face structure.

This is gonna be head.

That's smart.

So, I'm making kind of a ball
from the aluminum foil,

and then I started sculpting the head
with modeling chocolate.

My thing is, like,
making these sculpted cakes.

It's just my thing.

The only thing I'm nervous about
is the eyes.

Eyes is the most focal point of the cake.

Like, if you can get the eyes right,
it looks alive.

[April] The structure is hugely important.

This will make or break this cake.

So, I cut my sheet cakes
to the exact size of the board

and form it around the structure
very carefully.

Cut that a bit more.

Got my cake base. Now it's time to focus
on the sewing machine.

I want it to be nice and light

so we have no worries
about it falling over.

So, I grab some rice cereal treats
and start forming it around the structure.

This is really like a clay almost.

Oh, I love it.

Two hours. Two hours, bakers.

It's crunch time.

[funky music playing]

Hold it.

[Andrew] Want me to do the stitching
and you do the Flexique?

I definitely can do the Flexique.
I know how to do that.

In order to get the edible fabric,

you have to print out your design
onto wafer paper,

and then the Flexique is a mixture

that you have to paint onto the surface
of the wafer paper.

[Jonny] It's pretty cool
what they do with this stuff.

We're gonna cover up some of the wonkier
areas of this piece of luggage

by strategically stuffing in the fabric

so that it looks like clothing that's
bursting out of a piece of luggage.

There's $50,000 on the line.

If it doesn't look right,
it's gonna be a total fail.

No pressure.

-I mean, come on. That is pretty cool.
-Love it.

One hour, bakers. One hour.

I'm gonna stick this on.

To sell the fact
that this machine is functional,

I used modeling chocolate
to make a dial on the side

with little notches
and also the little knob

to change the settings of the machine.

So, if the judges inspect my cake,
those knobs can turn.

I'm gonna put a little hooky up here,
and then we can loop the string in it.

Whoa.

-This is... Yes.
-You like it?

-Uh-huh.
-This is looking like cement.

We have three different color royal icing
which we'll use on our cake,

dark gray, light gray and white,

and we just blotch all over the bust,

and then we sand it
with the fine grit sandpaper.

-This effect is killing.
-Amazing.

Fifteen minutes, bakers.
Last looks, final touches.

-[Jonny] What color you want there?
-Um, I really like the pink and blues.

Okay, I'll start with that.

[Andrew] This is where I shine,

where my artistic abilities
really come to play.

Adding in stitching
and giving it some wear,

looking like it's been around for decades.

This is what I came here for.

I'm not just a cake artist,
and I'm not just a weirdo.

I wanna prove to people that I'm
the best of the best at what I do.

These stickers are looking cool.

Okay, bakers, five minutes left.

It's been a roller coaster ride for me.

I have never imagined that my cake's gonna
lead me to the $50,000,

but I think this bust cake
is worth the 50,000.

It looks unreal. It looks really good.

[April] It's just edible art paint stuff,
that I gotta try to get it on there.

I'm really hoping
that the details I've put in,

from the little tiny piece of thread,
the light bulb, the dials,

will really sell this
as the real deal to the judges.

This is the moment.

After this, you go home a winner
or you don't.

Okay, bakers, final one-minute warning.

Ooh!

-Right up here?
-Like where the bulb...

[energetic music playing]

Time is up.

-Well done. Well done.
-[all clapping]

Next time I see you,
it'll be in front of the judges.

Very exciting.

One of you is taking home
the grand prize of $50,000.

-Ooh, look at them.
-[gallery cheering]

[Mikey] Who will it be?

Well, that's all in the hands
of our panel of judges,

-so let's meet them.
-[chuckles]

She's a comedian, actor
and host, Loni Love!

[whooping, clapping]

You're so funny.

Oh, you are too, Mikey.

[Mikey] Aw!

[cutesy voice] Loni likes my tux.

You got shiny shoes.
It's the finale. [laughs]

[cutesy voice] And my shoes!

[laughing]

He's one of the funniest guys I know.

Eh, I guess.

-Actor, comedian and...
- What? So rude.

...David Pumpkins' right skeleton
to my left skeleton,

Bobby Moynihan.

-[Loni] Bobby!
-[whooping, clapping]

-Hi!
-I love you, sir.

-Hello, fellow skeleton.
-[Mikey laughs]

Finally, author, host
and member of the Fab Five

on the Netflix series Queer Eye,
Mr. Karamo Brown.

Karamo!

[whooping]

You're saving the world.

-You do so much good for the world.
-No. We try.

You worked with and continue
to work with President Obama?

-[laughs] I do. Yeah.
-[bakers] Wow.

So my hard-hitting question is...

Uh-oh.

...is he so cool?

Yes!

He's cool. He's sweet. He's fine.

-I don't know if you can say that.
-Yes, you can.

-We're all in agreement.
-You can.

All right, judges, welcome to the finale.

You're the only thing that stands between
one of these wonderful bakers

and $50,000.

Oh!

Let me introduce you
to the first baker up today, April.

The wonderful April.

[cheering, clapping]

Cake Wall, spin.

You're about to see
four vintage sewing machines,

but one of those
sewing machines is a cake.

Let's see if you can find it.

Your time starts now.

[tense music playing]

-What?!
-Oh.

-Oh my goodness!
-Oh my...

-[Bobby] First thoughts?
-Yeah. Immediately I'm looking at color.

[Loni] Number One looks like
it's outta my closet.

-[Bobby laughs]
-[Karamo] Okay. They look so good.

[Mikey] Ten seconds.

Number Two... Wait, how much time? Ooh.

-Three is real.
-[Karamo] So shiny.

-[Bobby] The shine on it is...
-[Loni] That's too real.

-[Karamo] Four or One? This is amazing.
-[Loni] Goodness.

-We have to look at the time!
-[Loni] This is hard!

Three seconds. Lock it in.

[Loni] Three is real.
There's no way it's that one.

-[Karamo] I'm gonna go with Four!
-[Bobby] Four!

-We did it! Nice, we got it.
-[bell dinging]

[clapping]

[Mikey] Judges, you locked in Number Four.

Let's see how you did.

All right, April, you've
done an amazing job this whole time,

and you've already won $15,000
in the competition.

So, if this is a real sewing machine,

you have a chance to win another $50,000.

Now the moment of truth,

and my favorite question,

is it cake?

[chuckles]

-[Mikey clears throat]
-[Lori, Karamo] Cut through it.

[tense music playing]

[Karamo] Oh!

Not cake!

[whooping]

It's One, Loni. It's One.

Congratulations, April,
you have deceived our judges.

That means you are one step
closer to being our Is It Cake? champion

and walking out of here with $50,000.

Which one's the real cake?

All right, April,
since the judges didn't find your cake,

you should be the one
to reveal it to them.

-Okay.
-So, please come up here.

If it's Two, I'mma gag.

-If it's One, I'mma gag.
-Yeah, right?

[Loni gasps] Is it Two?

[Karamo] No.

-Oh!
-It is One!

[upbeat music playing]

[Bobby] Wow.

-[Karamo] How is that possible?
-That's cake.

-And that took you four years?
-[laughing]

-[April] 12 hours.
-[Bobby] 12 hours?

Oh my goodness.

[April] What I've made for you all
is a s'mores cake.

[gasps] Can you speed it up?

[laughing]

[April] I'm trying!

So, what you got inside
is some graham cracker cake,

chocolate and marshmallows.

Thank you, darling.

Mm. I feel guilty...

-[laughing]
-...for eating it.

Everything about it is beautiful.

You knew how to evenly distribute
the marshmallow, the chocolate,

the graham cracker,
which is actually cake.

You know, I see what you did here.

-And it's excellent.
-Thank you.

I mean, the aroma of this
does give you, like, campfire.

It makes me feel at home.

You're making your little girl proud
with the smell of this.

It's exceptional. Yeah. Good job.

[Jonny chants] April! April! April!

It's time for our next baker, Andrew.

[whooping]

Andrew!

Andrew has defeated our judges
three times now with his incredible cakes.

Can he do it a fourth?

Cake Wall, spin.

All right, judges, four suitcases are
traveling around the wall right now.

Three contain clothes,
but one of them is cake.

Let's see if you give Andrew
his ticket to $50,000 or not.

Your time starts right now.

[Karamo] How do you make clothes
out of cake?!

This is amazing.

-[Loni] Amazing.
-Wow.

-Whoa!
-Exceptional. Okay.

[Bobby] I think One is real.
Throwing that out there.

[Karamo] One is real.

-[Bobby] I feel like Two is fake?
-[Loni] Two?

[Karamo] Two is fake?

[Loni] Three looks too obvious.

-[Karamo] I can't tell because...
-[Mikey] Ten seconds.

...Three is upwards,
so I can't see the clothes.

[Loni] It's not Four. That's my underwear.

[laughing]

-[Bobby] Two?
-Okay.

[Mikey] Five seconds, judges.

-Lock it in.
-Two!

-[rapid beeping]
-Time's up.

Whoo! Got it in just under the wire.

You went with Two.

Let's see how you did this time, judges.

You look like a bomb was about to go off.

[Loni laughs]

I'm realizing Two and Three have
the same pattern of clothes now.

This one is subconsciously flat
like a cake,

so I just wanna cut it in half and eat it.

[laughing]

Andrew, everything you've worked for
throughout this competition

comes down to this case,

and this knife.

So here we go, guys.

Is it cake?

[tense music playing]

[Mikey hums]

-Oh no!
-[Bobby] That's not a cake!

[Mikey] Not cake!

That's not a cake!

Andrew, you did it! Congrats!

-[Karamo] It was one with the stickers!
-He was right. You were right.

You're four for four, buddy.

Andrew, you are one step closer
to being our Is It Cake? champion.

Please come up here
and reveal your cake to the judges.

I think it's One.

I'm not messing with you guys this time.
I'm ready to just do it.

-If it's that One...
-Or it might be Four. I think it's One.

-[Karamo] Okay, I guess.
-No way!

-Four. The one I thought.
-So it is Four!

-No way!
-[Mikey] Ever the showman.

Let's cut in to that...

Wow. Wow!

-[clapping]
-[Mikey] It's cake.

Oh, that's so cake.

This side of the cake
is white velvet cake,

mascarpone cheese, espresso buttercream

and some crushed-up ladyfingers
to be like a tiramisu.

And then this side of the cake
is a pistachio cake

with a honey rose buttercream
and some fig jam.

I do.

Oh, you're already married.

[laughing]

I'm sorry!

[Loni] This pistachio is so good,
and it's so moist.

I love that it's not too sweet.

I liked the tiramisu side
a little bit better,

because it's a little bit sweeter
and a bit more my taste,

and I'm not adventurous
in any way, shape or form.

[laughing]

The fork just goes through the cake
as if it just came out right now.

-It's so moist and so nice. I'm amazed.
-[Loni] Mm-hmm.

All right, well, congratulations, Andrew.

-The streak continues.
-[Karamo] Congrats.

Judges, it's time
for our last baker, Hemu.

Cake Wall, spin!

All right, judges,
coming around on the wall are four busts.

Three are made of stone
and one is, yes, cake.

Wow. This is like the Garden department
at Home Depot.

Your time starts now.

-[Loni] Oh.
-[Karamo] They look so realistic.

There's no possible way to know.
Oh my gosh.

[Bobby] Two looks like a real statue,
which makes me think it's a cake.

There's details on Number Three
in the face.

-[Karamo] Maybe Three or...
-[Bobby] Four. I think... Oh.

[Mikey] Five seconds. Lock in that answer.

-I think Four.
-We got...

-Four! Four! Four!
-Four.

-[Bobby] We all decided Four.
-Time's up.

-Time's up.
-Four!

-Time's up.
-Four.

[clapping]

You said Four.

-[Bobby] A couple times.
-[Loni] I feel like I'm in a museum.

-I have no idea.
-None.

And I'm looking just like
when I'm in a museum.

-And it's not getting easier.
-At all.

-But you guys are a united front on Four?
-Four. We...

[Mikey] You feel good about...

-No.
-Not at all.

-You never do.
-No.

Okay, Hemu, here we go.

If this bust is a real sculpture,
you could be up for $50,000.

It's time to find out.

You in danger, girl.

[judges laugh]

Is it cake?

[tense music playing]

-Oh yes.
-[Karamo] It was cake!

-We got one right!
-[Loni] We got one!

-[Mikey] It's cake.
-[Karamo] I'm sorry! We got one right. Oh.

-[Mikey] No, Hemu.
-[chuckles]

-[Karamo] Oh.
-[Mikey] I'm so sorry.

It makes me sad.

You have shown us
all your incredible skills,

but unfortunately you're out of the game.

But you're leaving here with $10,000, so...

[whooping]

...that is something
you should be really proud of!

-Yeah.
-You're immeasurably talented.

Hemu, the judges would still
love to try your cake.

Yes, we would.

Tell them about the flavors of your cake.

So, this is a moist vanilla cake
with coffee Swiss meringue buttercream

with hazelnut crunch in it
and Biscoff brownie bits in it.

How do you get something
to look like a sculpture

but then be as soft as a piece of cake?
Good job.

-The layers are so perfectly...
-Defined.

-That's the right word.
-Yeah.

-It's absolutely amazing.
-Thank you.

Your texture is so good,

and then the vanilla,

and it all comes as one good bite.

-Kudos to you. This is amazing.
-Thank you.

Good job, Hemu. I'm going
to give you a hug because you crushed it.

It was such a fun journey for me
working amongst the best

and making so many memories,

and I'm grateful for that.

April and Andrew,
while I wish everyone could win,

unfortunately that's not possible,

so the judges need some time
and privacy to make their decisions.

So, bakers and gallery, I need everyone
to head up to the cake wall.

This is not a drill.

-Up to the cake wall.
-Okay.

That's right. Single file.
Stay together, class.

All right, Cake Wall,
take our bakers away.

-Plant your feet.
-[bakers squeal, laugh]

Bye!

It's dangerous
when you're not ready for it.

[Nina] We wasn't ready! [sighs]

Wow.

Okay, judges,

it's time for you to take a closer look
at the cakes and really inspect them.

It comes down to the taste
and the details.

-[Karamo] Seeing this up close is intense.
-[Bobby] Wow. It really is.

-All the tiny details are fantastic.
-[Karamo] Extraordinary.

-I'm impressed by these little details.
-I like this part. It faded right here.

[Karamo] These knobs move.
Everything moves.

Looks like you could turn this on
right now and it's gonna start working.

It's absolutely delicious.

Mm. Yep. It's like a s'more.
It tastes just like a s'more.

Okay, let's go over here.

The look of the clothes on this,
first of all, just up close.

This still looks like clothes to me.

It's sad that fake clothes
are nicer than my clothes.

[laughing]

-[Bobby laughs]
-[Karamo] Cool.

-That's amazing.
-It is. Oh my gosh.

Look at the buckle on this.
This looks like a real buckle.

-That's talent.
-[Loni] And the detail.

The amount of detailing on this,
the fine stitching...

[Loni] And the texture. The way it feels.

This is the pistachio side.

-[Karamo] Let's try this.
-[Loni] That's the tiramisu side.

The fact that you get two flavors of cake.
I mean, come on.

-Mmm!
-That pistachio flavor is so good.

Judges, have you made up your mind
or do you need to discuss more?

I think we need some time to discuss.

Talk it over.

Let's talk about design.
What are you more impressed with?

This is hard to make.

The little tiny pieces on here,

all the little pieces
that put this together,

I think, look really impressive.

There is details in that,
but look at the leather on this one.

This is like a whole thing
that looks like distressed leather,

and there is the same amount
of detail work,

because when you look at this buckle here,
this looks like an old-school buckle.

Up close, this looks more real.

I disagree. I think, up close,

this, to me, feels like
an old sewing machine.

-This, to me, feels like a cake.
-Y'all not helping at all.

They both have great stories.
They put their hearts into it, you know?

I think we got the best two,
really, at the end.

This is a hard decision.

All right, judges,
please return to your podiums

and put the name of our winner
in the envelope.

Big decision, judges.

I'm nervous.

[tense music playing]

-[Karamo] Decision made.
-Judges, we have our decision?

-We do.
-Yes.

Okay. Let's bring back our bakers.

Cake Wall, spin.

Bring us people.

[clapping]

[Mikey] There they are.

United in a group hug of solidarity.

April and Andrew, please join me.

The rest of you, kindly head over there.

While you were gone, our judges
thoroughly examined your cakes.

They looked at all the details
and even took a few more bites.

A few?

[laughing]

-How are you guys feeling?
-Overwhelmed.

That's a good word.

-Overwhelmed.
-Yeah.

Bobby, do you have the envelope
that contains the winner?

I do have it.

Be careful.

All right.

Let's do this.

I wish all of you could be the champion,

but there can only be one.

And the winner is...

[tense music playing]

Andrew!

-[bakers whooping]
-[upbeat music playing]

[Mikey] Andrew, you did it!

Congratulations.

-You just won $50,000!
-Thank you guys so much.

That brings your total winnings

in this competition to $80,000, dude.

-Oh my God.
-[Mikey] Wow.

How does it feel?

[Andrew] I just... Uh...

I've never come this far in something.

I feel like I'm stepping into
the person that I'm supposed to be,

and it's just a cake show,
but this is huge for me.

I love every single one of you.

You knew you were gonna get tears,
and you got 'em.

Thank you so much. I love you guys.

So proud of you, dude.

And, April, nice job.

I didn't win, but I know I can go home
and hold my head high,

and I'm so, so excited
to tell Chris and Ava

all about this crazy adventure
that Mom went on. [laughs]

-We have a trophy for you...
-[Andrew] Wow.

-...but one question remains.
-[Andrew] Oh no.

-[Hemu] No way.
-Is it cake?

The throne's a cake, too.

[Mikey] Oh!

Oh!

It's cake. Yes!

Bakers and judges, everyone come up
and let's celebrate our new champion.

I'm the champion of Is It Cake?

This is so much more to me
than just money.

I just feel so humbled by this experience,

and I feel like I've proven that I don't
have to fit in with everybody else.

You can still reach
for whatever weird, wild,

totally ridiculous dream you have,
and you can achieve that.

This has been the ride of my life.

I want to thank all our amazing bakers.

I'm Mikey Day,
and there's only one thing left to do.

Cake Wall, take us home!

[cheering, laughing]

[Mikey] Oh my God. It wasn't
designed for this many people!

[Mikey screams]

[closing theme music playing]
