Wicked Tuna (2012–…): Season 7, Episode 3 - Merch Madness - full transcript

The Hard Merchandise is the only boat that has yet to land a fish, and Captain Dave Marciano is feeling the pressure. Desperate to provide for his family, the burden weighs heavily on ...

NARRATOR: For the
past six years.

DAVE: (bleep) the hell
could go wrong! (bleep) you!

It's a tough battle over here.

NARRATOR: No captain
has had worse luck.

JAY: If we didn't have bad luck,
we had no (bleep) luck at all.

DAVE: It's like getting a
black eye from Mother Nature.

JAY: We're gonna hit!

NARRATOR: Than Dave Marciano.

DAVE: Dammit. Dammit. Dammit.

NARRATOR: And now, as
the rest of the fleet
bank more Bluefin buck.

TIM: We're on! We're on!
We're on! We're on!

DAVE C: Here we go. We got him!
TYLER: Whoo!

NARRATOR: Can Dave and his kids.

DAVE: Come on, fish.

NARRATOR: Land their first
paycheck of the season?

JOE: Oh we're on!
We're on! We're on!

DAVE: That mark is showing
me an 800-pound fish.

JOE: Come on.

ANGELICA: Give up already!

NARRATOR: This,
DAVE C: Let's go.

JOE: Color!
DAVE: Stick him!

NARRATOR: Is Wicked Tuna.

DAVE: Bottom line, either luck's
with you or it's against you.

NARRATOR: At the start of week
three of fishing, the young do
on Pinwheel are off to a hot

start with four fish.

Meanwhile, family operation Hard
Merchandise is the only boat

that has not landed a Keeper
Bluefin this season.

(music)

JOE: All right. Well,
this one's ready to go.
DAVE: All right.

I'll pick the bait this time.

Ooh, that looks
like a tasty one.

I've had seasons where we
didn't land a single Keeper
and it was devastating

to work so hard for nothing.

All right, you
can start on that.

There's no way I can let
that happen this season.

What do you got
going on in here?

ANGELICA: That's either,
is that your fish?

DAVE: Yeah, that's our bait.

ANGELICA: And then is
that also your bait?
DAVE: Yup.

ANGELICA: Most people, at
the end of the week, they
know a paycheck is coming.

We've worked just as hard,

but you can't count on that
paycheck every week

to pay the bills, to
feed your family.

This is how it's always
been with my dad.

JOE: What's she saying?

DAVE: She was seeing our bait.
JOE: Oh.

DAVE: She just wasn't sure.

JOE: My dad's under a lot of
pressure right now, but it just
takes landing that first Bluefin

of the season to start changing
things in the right direction.

DAVE: It's really a game
of patience right now.

JOE: Come on.

DAVE: The longer we go
without a fish, the longer
we go without a check.

There's a fish coming up.
Coming up! Coming up.

Come on.

Come on, fish, bite it.

JOE: Bite me!
DAVE: Bite me!

(laughs)

JOE: Come on.

DAVE: He's all over it.
ANGELICA: Which one?
DAVE: That inside one!

JOE: Come on!

Oh. Oh, we're on! We're on!
We're on! We're on! We're on!

Yep, yep.

DAVE: Got him, Joe?
JOE: Not yet.

DAVE: Is that him?

JOE: Yeah, it's him.

He just doesn't know
he's hooked yet.

JOE: Come on, run.

Run away from me.

DAVE: Usually a big fish like
that will empty the reel.
JOE: Run.

DAVE: There's something
definitely weird about him.

There you go.
JOE: Yup.

DAVE: Let's go, up
to the fight holder.

Back it up. Back it up a
little so we can ease it up.

JOE: Yup.

DAVE: Okay, go ahead.

We're just gonna keep
going slow and steady.

Hopefully, he's just so fat
he can't swim very good.

Let me go look at the machine.

That mark is showing me
an 800-pound class fish.

This could be a $15,000
or $20,000 paycheck.

JOE: Yeah, that's a tuna.

DAVE: Good job.

It's a sea monster.

JOE: He just figured out he's
hooked now after an hour.

DAVE: I'll tell you one
thing, this is a big fish.

Ready, Gel, you gonna
get on him for a little,
I'm gonna drive at him.

ANGELICA: Me?
DAVE: Yup. Go ahead.

I'm gonna drive at him.
JOE: Yeah, you. get on him.

It's all just pull
down and reel.

DAVE: Uh, it's, uh, all right,
get going. You pull and reel,
that's all.

ANGELICA: I'm definitely
nervous right now and I don't
wanna do anything wrong.

DAVE: Pull and reel when
you have to, hon. Pull and reel.

This is a big fish, yeah.

ANGELICA: But is it
not tight enough?

DAVE: No, it's fine.
There you go.

All right, I gotcha. I gotcha.
ANGELICA: You got it? Okay.

Here you go.
DAVE: Yeah, I got it.
JOE: Good job.

ANGELICA: With all this
talk about an 800-pound tuna,
I'm not the one who wants to be

on the line right now being
as inexperienced as I am.

DAVE: The only way you're gonna
get experience.
ANGELICA: Yeah.

DAVE: Is to do it with us.
ANGELICA: Yeah, I know.

DAVE: If I didn't have faith in
you, I wouldn't give you a shot.

ANGELICA: Thanks.

DAVE: This jumbo fish
could be Angelica's first.

JOE: We'll be here all
night if we have to.

DAVE: Gonna be here
all night long.

It's like a stalemate.

Ready Joe?
JOE: Yeah.

DAVE: Just like we've been
doing slow and steady even.

I'd really like to put this
fish on the boat for the kids.

We'll all make a nice paycheck.

Come on, tuna.

ANGELICA: We've been on
this fish for four hours.

We need this fish. We're so
far behind, so I'm hoping that
we get this fish in soon.

DAVE: Here it is,
right on the screen.

That's a jumbo tuna mark.

I'm betting this is one of the
biggest fish of the season.

He's trying to pull the
boat upwind and up current.

We want him to do that.

That will tire him out.

But we're just gonna keep this
slow, steady tension on that
rod and hopefully over time,

it's gonna wear him down.

DAVE: Come on, fish.

(music)

Wow.

This is a tough fish.

(music)

ANGELICA: There's no magic,
there's no secret, you just have
to wait and not (bleep) up

and that's so stressful.

(music)

JOE: Doing great.

ANGELICA: Good job.
You got this.

ANGELICA: I'm a little
nervous honestly.

We've been on this fish
for about seven hours.

The stakes are pretty
high, we're still at
50 feet.

He's really not showing signs
of getting tired and, um.
DAVE: And there he goes again.

ANGELICA: And it's, uh,
getting really frustrating.
Yeah.

DAVE: Entire header
off the rod again. (bleep).

You're kidding me!

JOE: It's a really big one.

We got a quick look at him at
the boat, but he's not done yet.

DAVE: There's just no
way to land this thing.

Can't put any more heat on it.

Can't budge it, but
we really need it.

Here you go, Joe.

ANGELICA: There he is.

DAVE: Might get a
shot at him, guys.

Reel, reel, reel.

JOE: Oh. Pulled the hook.
DAVE: Huh?

JOE: Pulled the hook.
DAVE: Ugh. (bleep)!

Well, that was a waste of a day.

Keep reeling.

Pulled the hook.

JOE: So much for a
good season for us.

ANGELICA: I was not prepared to
be as emotionally attached as I
was to a fish that I've never

met before in my life.

We did everything right and
we still lost this fish.

DAVE: Pulled the hook.

Seven and a half hours.

Had to be at least
an 800-pounder.

MATT: Uh-oh.

That don't sound good.

BRAD: No way.

TYLER: When you're not catching
fish, it just flat out stinks.

We've all had tough runs.

It comes with it,
it's part of it.

You just got to keep going
through the motions.

I know Dave's gonna get his.
He's a good fisherman.

PAUL: That sucks.

It's sad.

He needs every fish, man.

Holy (bleep)

SANDRO: Oh. Ouch.

BRAD: That sucks.
That's terrible. Wow.

GEORDIE: Bummer.

DAVE: (bleep).

When you lose a big fish after
a long time, those ones haunt
you for the rest of your life.

(music)

TJ: You guys ready
to roll or what?

JARRETT: Yup.

TJ: I just wanna prove
that we can lead the fleet and
that we can take this thing

and that we can be a competitor.

No more middle of the pack.
No more bottoming.

That's not happening this year.

Just keep on grinding,
man, we're right there.

We got off to a great
start this season as one
of the top earning boats.

Right now, we're in second
place, but we don't plan
on staying there for long.

We've got my dad and my nephew
Danny coming with us this trip.

TIM: What's up, gentlemen?
DANIEL: Hey.

JARRETT: Yeah. What's
going on, guys?

TJ: You bring some
good luck, buddy?

DANIEL: Yeah, myself.
MIKE: Oh, yeah. (laughs)

How you doing? Get on.

Every time Daniel's
onboard, we catch fish.

He's a very good
luck charm to us.

Woo-ho!

TJ: You got him, Danny.

TIM: There's your
first tuna, brother!

TJ: You got him, baby.
DANIEL: Welcome aboard.

TIM: He wants to pull
on one this year, too.

TJ: Yeah, you wanna
turn the rod this year?
DANIEL: Yeah.

TJ: You think you're
capable of that?

Let me see your muscles.

Eh.
TIM: Whoa. Wow.

DANIEL: The last two years
I helped my uncles and my
grandpa catch two big Bluefin,

but I never got to
crank on the rod before.

TJ: Are you ready to roll?

DANIEL: Yeah, ready
to rock and roll.
TJ: Ready to go?

DANIEL: But now that
I'm 10, I wanna show them
that I'm a real fisherman.

I can do it if they
just give me a chance.

What's up?

Pa-pow!

DAVE C: Some life here today.

I'm looking at a whale
right here coming at us.

GEORDIE: Now it looks like
he's gonna come up right
in the bubbles there.

DAVE C: Wow, look at that.

Lots of bait here.

Some whales, marks.

This season...

DAVE C: He's gone.
GEORDIE: Pulled the hook.

DAVE C: We got off
to a bad start.

Damn, it's a short.

This is so painful.

But almost two weeks into
fishing, we finally landed
our first keeper tuna.

SANDRO: Woo-hoo. Finally.

DAVE C: So, now it's only a
matter of time before we get
back on top where we belong.

Sit and wait.

SANDRO: Wicked bummer, man.

We have some catching up to
do, but when we're on our game,
nobody in the fleet can stop us.

GEORDIE: Oh, there's a fish.
DAVE C: Come on.
GEORDIE: There's one.

DAVE C: There it is.

Oh, yeah, it's streaking
right down on the down rod.

Turn around, baby. Come on.

SANDRO: Oh, he's
turning, coming back out.

DAVE C: Oh, yeah. He's on
the bow rod, too.

Man, look at that.

He's got to be at
least 500 pounds.

GEORDIE: One seventy going down.
DAVE C: Go back up.

GEORDIE: We're all over him.
DAVE C: Oh, come on. Come on.

GEORDIE: It's still there.
Bow. Bow! Bow! Bow! Bow!

DAVE C: We're on, we're on!

SANDRO: Bow. We're on! We're on!
Start it up!

GEORDIE: Let me
know what you need.

DAVE C: I'm okay.

We're on. Dot Com special.

Man, look at that.

Getting into the Dacron.

SANDRO: Oh, we got a
runner up here, huh?
DAVE C: Let's go.

Geordie, get on the controls.

SANDRO: I got this.

DAVE C: Neutral!

SANDRO: Got it.

DAVE C: What are you doing?

DAVE C: Unbelievable.

GEORDIE: I got you.
You're clear in the back.

DAVE C: It's a big
boy right here.

SANDRO: We need a big boy.

DAVE C: He's pulling hard.

SANDRO: Got him on there.

Uh, this fish got
a lot of line out.

DAVE C: Bump it in and out.

SANDRO: Easy. Easy. Easy.

DAVE C: Reverse.

A little faster.

Bring the stern
to the starboard.

Keep going, stop the boat.

Coming right up.

He's not too far away now!

Sanch, go get the harpoon
shot, we'll do it up here.

SANDRO: Harpoon shots are
a lot easier back there.

It's easier to harpoon the fish
from the back than the bow,
because you actually leverage

yourself when you throw the
harpoon and your accuracy
will be a lot better.

DAVE C: I'll pass it
to you, you're up.

DAVE C: You ready?

DAVE C: I'll see you
around back all right?
SANDRO: Yup.

DAVE C: Be careful.

SANDRO: Ha-ha.

DAVE C: Watch your step.
Big swell.

GEORDIE: He's running away!

DAVE C: Oh my God.
We're gonna lose it!

SANDRO: If the wind comes
up and you go in, you're in.

DAVE C: I'll see you
around back, all right?
SANDRO: Yup.

DAVE C: Be careful.

SANDRO: Ha-ha.

DAVE C: Watch your
step, big swell!

SANDRO: He's running away!

SANDRO: It's getting hard.

DAVE C: Grab his belt buckle.
GEORDIE: Okay.

SANDRO: Come on, grab me.
DAVE C: Yup.

SANDRO: You got me good?
GEORDIE: Yup.

DAVE C: Go right
in the corner here.

GEORDIE: Might see him
out here in a second.

DAVE C: Try and stop us now.

Looks like he's squaring up now.
I feel him paddling again.

GEORDIE: Swivels at the water.
DAVE C: Okay.

Whoa. Might get a shot.

Here he comes. Here
he comes right here.

His that bastard.

GEORDIE: He's
coming across under.

DAVE C: I think you hurt him.

DAVE C: Same thing.

Reverse. Get him. Hard in
reverse. Hard in reverse.
Hit him. Here we go!

GEORDIE: Coming right at
you, Sandro. Barn door.

DAVE C: Oh, yeah.

Go right, Sandro.

SANDRO: All right.

DAVE C: Oh, we got one!

That's what I'm talking about.
Nice job.

GEORDIE: Nice job with that.

Got him. Nice, that's a
nice fish, too.

A real gem.

DAVE C: It's beautiful.

GEORDIE: Ninety-four inches.

Not bad at all.

DAVE: We just tied
one up, 500-pounder.

Dot Com is back,
baby, watch out!

Yadda, yadda, yadda, yadda.

We stayed here and
caught nothing.

(bleep).

I had high hopes but...

a waste of time.

(music)

TJ: Today's the day, baby.

The sun's just rising up
here in the Gulf of Maine.

Michael's awake
but Dad and Jarrett and
Danny are still asleep.

I would like nothing
more than to wake them
up with a screaming reel.

It'd be the perfect alarm clock.

We've got to catch fish.

Every trip we make where
we're successful, this
thing could be ours.

Come on, big Bluefin,
baby, come on.

Where you at?

There's a mark.

MIKE: Time to make the donuts.

TJ: Marked one high.

MIKE: How high?

TJ: A hundred up to fifty.

MIKE: Wow.

TIM: Oh we're on!
We're on, baby!

MIKE: There he is. We're on.
TJ: Dad, we're on!

(music)

Michael, don't worry about it,
get the anchor. Get the anchor.

Get it on.

Anchor, Michael, anchor.

Jarrett, rod.

DANIEL: There's nothing better
in the whole world than waking
up to a screaming reel.

MIKE: Watch the anchor line.

TIM: Go ahead. Keep going. Back,
back, back, back, back.

He's going towards you.
He's going towards you.
Keep coming back.

Go ahead. Now, okay.
Keep going back, TJ.

Got to get away from
this anchor, buddy.

Yeah, keep coming back, come on.

Watch it.

Watch it, Dany.

All right, we're clear.
We're clear.

Yeah, it's acting
like a tuna fish.

DANIEL: My family has let me
do a lot of stuff on the boat,
but never crank on the rod.

That's what I want to do, so
I really caught my own tuna.

TIM: We got to get this
first one in the boat, pal.

Ready, Jarrett?
JARRETT: Yup.

TIM: You all right, buddy?

DANIEL: Yeah.

TJ: Daniel is absolutely bummed
and I totally understand it.

But, this is not the
one to break him in on.

This fish is wild, we're
not gonna sacrifice
thousands of dollars.

So, hopefully we get
another bite and let
him get on that one.

TIM: Got him at a 100 feet.

JARRETT: Pretty
decent-sized fish.

Took a couple good runs.

He's settling in.

He's down deep and, uh,
it's a, it's a fight, man.

TJ: Definitely circling.
JARRETT: Woo-hoo.

Color.
MIKE: There he is.

There he is Dan, back up.

TJ: Okay, here, dad.

There he is!

Stick him!

Got him.
TIM: I got him. I got him.

Get the rail rope.
Come on, Daniel.

TJ: You wanna put
the tail rope on him?
DANIEL: Yeah.

TJ: All right, Danny.
Come here, buddy.

TIM: Watch that tail.

I don't want you
to hurt your hand.

DANIEL: I got it.
TIM: I know you do.

TJ: Get it on that
side first, okay?

TIM: You got it. Just
pull, pull, pull.

MIKE: You got him, Dan.
TJ: You got him, Dan.

TIM: Good job, buddy.

Woo!
TJ: Woo-hoo. Pa-pow!

JARRETT: Nice work, buddy.
TIM: Very good. Nice.

TJ: Right on! Nice.

Good job, buddy.

TIM: The good luck charm.

Here he comes, Dan.
MIKE: Woo-hoo, Dan.

TJ: All right.
TIM: Nice. Hello.

JARRETT: Dan, you wanna
get a measurement on it?

DANIEL: Yes.

JARRETT: Here we go,
the moment of truth.

TJ: What do we got?
MIKE: What do we got?

DANIEL: Eighty-six inches.
TIM: Beautiful.

MIKE: Nice.
JARRETT: All right.

TJ: Good job, buddy.

DANIEL: I'm glad I got to tail
rope this fish, but I wish I
could have reeled it in.

TIM: Come on, Dan.

DANIEL: Can I reel next time?

TIM: We'll see, buddy.

DAVE C: We're on
a roll now, boys.

We got one for you.
LUKE: Let's check him out.

DAVE C: We got off
to an unusually slow
start this season,

but now we've hit our stride.

It's important that we get big
money for this fish, so we can
start catching up to the other

boats that started strong.

LUKE: Four hundred fifty pounds.

DAVE C: Cha-ching.

The buyer's looking for
fat content and the color.

The more fat, the
better the price.

LUKE: Well, I'll tell you
it's a good-looking fish.

Got a lot of fat
here on the edges.

It's nice and oily,
the color's good.

DAVE C: What are you
thinking on this one?

Come on, we got to
score on this one.

LUKE: I'm thinking

20 dollars a pound.
DAVE C: Mm. Hey. That's awesome.

SANDRO: Big money. Beautiful.
DAVE C: Huge. That's good.

We couldn't be happier.

This 9,000-dollar
paycheck puts us one step
closer to where we belong.

On top.

Let's go get another one.

The clock is ticking.

(music)

TYLER: If there was a
fashion show out here,
bro, I'd take the cake.

I'm a, I'm a clasher, you know.

I just, I wear my own stuff.

I'm, I got patterns, patches,
tie-dyes, sunglasses.

I mean, I am, psh, a little
bit of Gilligan, a little
bit of Grateful Dead.

Who's fresher than
me out here, bro?

TYLER: Right now everyone
in the fleet's out fishing.

So, the competition is game on.

We were sitting on top of the
world at the beginning of this
week as the top earning boat

in the fleet.

The only boat to have
caught four Bluefin.

But, so far this week
Dot Com caught a jumbo
and had a big payday.

And earlier today, Hot
Tuna landed their fourth
fish of the season.

If we wanna establish ourselves
as the top producer this season,

we got to be tying tails
to the back of the boat.

Now we've got Fish Hawk nearby.

We've got to worry
about him, too.

That's why I'm a
little bit nervous.

Like Brad's sitting on two fish,
he could easily catch two more.

I mean, there's a lot going on.

So, just gonna make sure
we stay on top of it.

All right, let's make
it happen, Duffy.

DUFFY: Aye-aye, cap.

BRAD: Clean these lines.

We're gonna clean,
clean the lines.

Look at this stuff.

This is the slime.

We have slime balls on our line.

We have slime balls
in back of us.

We have them everywhere.

We're off to a good
start this season.

We've got two fish so far.

We're in third place. We need
to work hard to keep up.

Because we need to
make up some ground.

Hot Tuna got one.
Tyler's ahead of us.

We need to catch a fish
to, to catch up with him.

We need to stay on top of our
game this year because Matt and
I, we're gonna win this thing.

We're definitely trying.

We just need a tuna.
Come on, tuna.

TYLER: Whoa!

Quarters, Duffy.

We got tunas coming over.

TYLER: We're marking
some nice fish. Beautiful.

BRAD: Oh, there he is.
MATT: Where?

BRAD: Right down there.
MATT: Oh yeah.

TYLER: Ah! We're ready for you.
Take a bite.

MATT: Show me the tuna.

BRAD: Come on, tuna. Let's go.

TYLER: Marking 'em. Marking 'em!

He's chasing the herring.

(music)

MATT: I'm dying for
this rod to go off.

(music)

TYLER: We're on!

We're on!

MATT: Fish on! Fish on!

BRAD: We got a nice tuna on.
MATT: Fish on! Fish on!

TYLER: Got 'em on! We just
had a bite right here.

He's gonna go screaming
away from us any second.

The one we need, baby.

Line going out.

Pinwheel, baby.

Here it comes, Duffy.

DUFFY: Oh.

It's cold.

Big fish.

Big runs.

He's swimming like a bastard.

TYLER: Big fish here. Definitely
knows what he's doing.

He's changing directions.

He's old, he's been
around for a while.

I'm sure this is not the
first time he's been hooked.

DUFFY: Oh, God,
he's going crazy.

He's coming your way, T.

TYLER: Reel, reel, reel.
Go, Duffy.

DUFFY: Don't let him
go under the boat, bro.

Ah!

's going crazy.

He's coming your way, T.

TYLER: Reel, reel, reel.
Go, Duffy.

DUFFY: Don't let him
go under the boat.

Ah!

Dude, he's still on, bro.

TYLER: Get some.
Get some. Get some.

We've got four fish and
Hot Tuna's got four.

But this fish could put us
ahead again, if we can land it.

We need this one, bad.

Really important to
keep the pressure on
the rest of the fleet.

The only way we can do that
is to keep on tying up tails
on the back of this one.

We need this one, Duff.

MATT: Big diamond here.
BRAD: Big diamond.

Big diamond.

We're gonna catch up to Hot
tuna and Pinwheel and we're
gonna get into the top spot.

Uh-oh. There he goes,
look at him.
MATT: Headshake.

Big headshake.

BRAD: All right, take it.

MATT: Come on, baby.
Come to Papa.

BRAD: Here he comes.
MATT: Big fin, Brad.

BRAD: See his tail. Look at him.
He's paddling away.

What a beautiful fish.

TYLER: Big majestic
animals making big runs.

Finally starting to get some
line back on the reel here.

This fish made a big, big
run. It's a big fish.

Definitely a 90-incher.

There he is, that
was him. Big fish.

We just had him within 10 feet
of the boat and he just took off
again and dumped a half a spool.

It's crazy.

MATT: Try to turn him, Brad.
Just a bump, Brad. Just a bump.

Hard right, Brad, hard right.
Keep going, Brad, hard.

There you go. That's
good, slow down.

You're good, come
on back. I got leader.

This fish could mean a
lot for the Fish Hawk.

We got a big monkey on the line.
Get that harpoon ready, Brad.

BRAD: Come on. You
got him, Brad. Hit his ass.

Got him.

MATT: Get the gaff.

Just crank it.

This is crazy.

He's a beast dude.

Get him, Brad, get him.

Watch the tail. Watch the tail.
BRAD: I'm trying. Hold on.

MATT: He's pissed.

Come on, help me out, brother.
BRAD: Hold back.

I'm trying.

MATT: Go, brad.

Oh, he broke the gaff!

He's pissed.
BRAD: Get the other gaff.

All right, Matt,
bring him back around.

MATT: Cheek now, get him.

Grab that pole.

(music)

Big tail. Hold the gaff,
I'll get the rope.

BRAD: Oh, yeah.
MATT: Game over.

Whoa!

BRAD: Whoo!

MATT: Fish Hawk, baby.

That's a beauty.

Fish Hawk coming for you.
Ka-kaw!

TYLER: Just wanna get
swivel on the rod.

Get a shot at him.

DUFFY: We've been fighting
him for three hours.

I don't know, we
haven't moved him.

TYLER: Oh, it's so scary, bro.

DUFFY: Holy (bleep).

TYLER: He's doing all these
little darts and cartwheels,

trying to flip and
swim under the boat.

He's trying to get
himself cut off.

DUFFY: We're gaining on him now.

TYLER: Oh deep, deep color.

DUFFY: Yup. All right, T.

Drill him, brother, please.

TYLER: Watch him.

We don't got him yet.

DUFFY: Grab me the gaff.

TYLER: Tail gaff.
DUFFY: Trying.

TYLER: Tail rope. Get it
on there, brother.

Oh, my God, this is such
a battle, baby, whoo!
DUFFY: Yeah!

TYLER: Pinwheel, baby.
DUFFY: All right!

TYLER: Let's go!
DUFFY: All right, bro.
TYLER: Great job brother. Whoo!

DUFFY: Glad that one's
bleeding, dude.
TYLER: So happy
to have that one.

DUFFY: We earned that one.
TYLER: Whoo!

DUFFY: Pretty fish.
TYLER: Butterball fish. Wow.

TYLER: 93, bro. That's
how fat he is. 93.

We just got our lead back.

No other boat has landed
five fish this season.

DUFFY: All right. All right.
All right.

TYLER: Pinwheel, baby. Got 'em.

How you like me now?

BRAD: You got that?
MATT: Yeah. Hold on, okay.

BRAD: Come on down.

Nice fish, dude.

MATT: Beautiful fish.

BRAD: That's what it's all
about right here, buddy.

MATT: This is the
reason why I tuna fish.

BRAD: 100 inches, Matt.
MATT: Nice.

BRAD: Good job.

MATT: Fish Hawk,
worst to first, baby.

Game over.
BRAD: Good job, bro.

MATT: What do you say, another
one tonight, two tomorrow.

(music)

DAVE: I hate waiting,
but unfortunately that's the
biggest part of tuna fishing.

ANGELICA: My dad's under
so much pressure right now.

We're two and half weeks
into the fishing season

and we're the only boat in
the fleet that has yet to
make a paycheck.

DAVE: There's nothing
worse than spending the
night on Loser Ledge.

There's nothing
more humiliating.
ANGELICA: Yeah.

DAVE: We lost a fish the
other day after a grueling
seven-hour battle.

The desperation is
starting to set in.

I've got a family to support
as a husband and a father.

It's my responsibility to see
that everybody's taken care of.

That is something
chasing the bait.

There's a fish around.

We need a chance to
redeem ourselves.

(music)

JOE: We're on! We're on!
DAVE: What? Yup, we're on. Yup.

Here we go.
JOE: Yup. Yup. Yup.

That's a fish.

It looks like a big one.
DAVE: Hang on, Joe. We're coming

This is just what we need.

Here you go. We're on a fish.

Just get right back there with
Joe, he'll tell you what to do.

(music)

JOE: Dammit!

DAVE: Oh, did it pull?

Is he there, Joe?

Oh, dammit.

(bleep) ruined two
rigs all at once.

(bleep), money out the window.

The worst part is it takes
time to get (bleep) get set
up and get back in the water

and that's the killer because
the fish could be biting now but
we ain't gonna (bleep) hook out.

This really sucks.

Yeah, we just lost that one.
Pulled the hook.

TYLER: Brutal.

PAUL: They're
suicidal right now.

TJ: Yeah, that
sucks, man, sorry.

BRAD: Party's over.

That's a tough break
for Merch, man.
MATT: Poor Merch.

DAVE C: Another M and M,
Merch Meltdown possible.

GEORDIE: The Merch Meltdown. Oh,
my God I love it, that's awesome

DAVE C: Hey, we all
have our meltdowns.
GEORDIE: Yeah.

His however, are a
notch above the rest.

Keep an eye out for
things flying overboard,
buckets, cameras, people.

DAVE: Yeah, (bleep)
sawed off the other one.

(bleep) ruined this one.

Rig could suck (bleep) something
to a (bleep) kick up our in a
matter of (bleep) seconds.

What the (bleep)?

What the (bleep)?

ANGELICA: They were doing
everything right and the tuna
was just being an (bleep).

DAVE: Ugh.

ANGELICA: It's just frustrating.

TJ: You think you
can hold this down?
DANIEL: Yup.

TJ: Why don't you sit in this
chair and eat your cereal and
see if you can mark us any fish,
all right?

Let me know we're on.
DANIEL: All right.

TJ: Sit down.
DANIEL: I know.

Be humble.
TJ: Be humble.

DANIEL: Right now my uncle just
asked me if I can watch the fish
finder and he told me to tell

him if we got any marks.

We caught a Bluefin yesterday
but I didn't get to crank
on it because it was wild.

I hope we can get another
one today and they let me
get on the rod this time.

I want to show my uncles and
my pops that I can do it.

(music)

There he is! We're marking.

TJ: All right. We're gonna
get another one, Danny?

DANIEL: That one.

TJ: Daniel is adamant we let
him crank on the rod this year.

I can remember how I felt
when I was ten years old.

But it's not a done deal
when we could have thousands
of dollars on the line.

I'm marking one
of that down rod.

And right now right on our bait.

MIKE: We're on!

We're on! We're on!
TJ: We're on, we're on,

MIKE: Reel, reel, reel.
Come on, let's go!

(music)

TJ: Hey!

TIM: Oh, yeah, we
seen him, Danny.
MIKE: On again, hooked up.

Second fish.

TJ: Maybe later.

Michael, let me see.

Bring it over.

Watch, Dan, get out of the way.

DANIEL: Can I take one
crank on this fish?

DANIEL: Please, please,
please, can I reel?

MIKE: On again, hooked up.

DANIEL: Can I take one
crank on this fish?

TIM: We'll see.

DANIEL: Please, please,
please, can I reel?

DANIEL: Finally!

TJ: Come on, coming back.
Get ready to reel.

Reel.

Reel, that's it.

That's it, good job, reel.

Come on.

Coming back, here
comes the mono.

MIKE: Good job.

TIM: Get him, kid. Get him.
TJ: Good job, buddy.

MIKE: Good job.
TJ: Coming back slow.

Good job, buddy.

DANIEL: It's hard.

JARRETT: Hell yeah, it's hard.

(music)

MIKE: Beautiful. Beautiful.

TJ: All right.

All right, let Jarrett on there.

All right, let Jarrett on.
Let Jarrett on.

TIM: Good job, man, excellent.

TJ: Finger's crossed, baby.

MIKE: Got to be close.

TIM: Probably 30, 40 feet away.
We gotta swivel here, guys.

There he is. Deep
color. Deep color.

DANIEL: There he is.
TJ: One more go.

You got him. You got him.

Big one.

TIM: Got him!

Tail gaff! Tail gaff!

TJ: Beautiful, Daniel.
Get the rope.

TIM: Hold on, I'm gonna
list him this way.

TJ: Daniel, come right here.
TIM: Tail tope.

MIKE: Watch your fingers.

TJ: Good boy, good boy.

TIM: Beautiful, Danny.

Nice, Daniel.

TJ: Good job, buddy. Excellent.

Nice. Whoa! Pa-pow!

Baby!

Good luck charm does it again.

TJ: Whoa!

(laughs)

DANIEL: Pop. I got to crank.
TIM: Yes you did.

You got some cranks on him.

DANIEL: This has been
the best trip ever.

We got two fish and I
got to crank on the rod.

This time I helped catch
the Bluefin for real.

MIKE: Hold the rope.
Hold the rope, Daniel.

Nice, Dan! Let him down.

TIM: Whoa! Look at him, Daniel.
DANIEL: That's a big fish.

TIM: That's a nice one.

All right, Dan, here we
go the moment of truth.

TJ: What do we got, Danny?
DANIEL: 95.

TIM: Nice, Daniel.
JARRETT: 95. Beauty.

DANIEL: Pa-pow!

(laughs)

TJ: I know right now he
feels like one of us.

He's one of the gang, I
mean he's part of the crew.

Now you're a real tuna guy.

Daniel is turning into a
full-fledged tuna fisherman.

He's done everything
except drive the boat.

TIM: Great job, Daniel.

JARRETT: Good job, buddy, yeah.

DANIEL: Can I drive the boat?

TJ: You know, I don't
know about that.

(laughs)

DAVE: Not much to say. We hooked
a fish. We lost a fish.

I can't believe how many (bleep)
fish we're losing this year.

ANGELICA: This is the
first time that I've really
seen my dad this upset.

So, I'm still kind of figuring
out how I can handle it.

When I was younger and
I was upset, we always
used to joke around.

It's always been our thing.

Do I need to make
a really bad joke?

Do I need to make sure he eats
something? I don't know.

DAVE: What the (bleep) (bleep).

ANGELICA: Are we
having a tuna fun?

DAVE: Go to your room.

ANGELICA: How about, a
whale of a good time?

DAVE: Don't make me
get the belt out.

(laughing)

ANGELICA: I'll be here all week.

(laughing)

DAVE: Just because I don't
have my wooden spoons like at
home that doesn't mean I can't
improvise.

ANGELICA: I got a little chuckle
out of you. My job is done.

(music)

MATT: Fish Hawk, ka-kaw.

BRAD: Hey, Gut, man, what's up?
GUT: Hey what's going on?

BRAD: We got one for you.

GUT: All right,
let's pull him out.

(music)

BRAD: This is our third
fish of the season.

Tyler on Pinwheel and TJ
on Hot Tuna are ahead of
us with five fish each.

So right now,
we're hoping our big fish
brings us a big paycheck.

GUT: 414 dressed.
BRAD: Nice.

Cool, man, we're gonna
come check it out, Gut.

Oh.

GUT: Yeah, pretty good.
Nice fish.

BRAD: That's a nice color, Gut.
We're getting lucky, dude.

All right, Gut, what
can't you do for us?

Come on, Gut, it's a good one.

GUT: I'll give you 17
dollars a pound on this one.

BRAD: We'll take
that all day long.

MATT: Nice, thanks old sport.
BRAD: Good man.

Man, we're going right back out.

Thank you, Gut.

Zeros to heroes we
went from today.

TYLER: Brother!

GUT: Hey, what's happening?

GUT: You got a nice one?

TYLER: All right. Let's
send it up there.

We started out the week with
more fish than any other boat.

But, now we're tied with
Hot Tuna with five each.

The lead is gonna come down to
how much we get for this fish

and how much TJ gets
for his two.

What have we got
for weight, Gut?

GUT: 441.

TYLER: Beautiful, way to
go, Duff. Awesome.

I need a big paycheck, brother,
what can you do for me?
Hook it up.

GUT: You're not gonna get
a big one on this one.

TYLER: Oh, come on.

GUT: Nope, there's not a
lot of fat in this fish.

This one's kind of red.

TYLER: How can we do?

GUT: 12 dollars on this fish.

TYLER: Okay, all right, well
it's better than nothing, dude.
We'll take it.

GUT: Yeah, okay.
TYLER: At least it's
got a lot of weight.

GUT: Yeah, you got
some weight, yeah.

TYLER: See you later, dude.
GUT: All right.

TYLER: It's not a great
quality fish but I hope it's
enough to keep us in the lead.

We've got to do better
next time, Duff.
DUFFY: Yeah dude.

DAVE: Well, this is
our Hail Mary spot.

We've had a tough trip,
there's no denying that.

ANGELICA: It's getting to
the end of the third week.

Still no fish and I'm
trying not to lose hope.

JOE: We're looking
for some fish here.

ANGELICA: It's really weird for
me because you can work really,
really hard at something

and eventually it
usually pays off.

But with tuna fishing
that's not the case.

DAVE: We need a miracle here.

I am a little worried.

I am a little nervous.

We've already lost two fish this
week and one of them was after
that brutal seven-hour battle.

We need a paycheck it's
really getting critical.

JOE: Keep looking, Gel.
Keep looking.

DAVE: But, you know, my
team is doing a great job.

Everybody's giving me a hundred
and ten percent effort.

All we need is a little bit of
luck to turn things around.

Yeah, that's him. That's him.

ANGELICA: Then he
dropped down to 30?

DAVE: Yeah, it's 20, yup.

See, he came down to
30, he's coming up.

ANGELICA: Come on, fish.

JOE: That's encouraging.

More than we've seen
all day for sure.

DAVE: There he is right
there, now he's at 20, down
to 30, bouncing back up.

He's gonna bite I guarantee it.

JOE: Come on!

DAVE: All right, we're gonna
get him, Joe. He's all over the
place.

ANGELICA: He's at 18.

DAVE: He's getting close here.
He's up in the kill zone.

ANGELICA: Back at 20.

JOE: I got it. I got it!

Yeah!

That's a screamer.

DAVE: That's a good fish.

We're on a fish.

TYLER: Wow.

PAUL: Way to go.

DAVE C: He's got to get it.
He needs it.

MATT: Whoo!

DAVE: All right, Joe,
let's get it up here.

Ready? Go. Go. Go.

We got the rod to bend.

So, we really need this one.

JOE: Oh, he's right
there on the surface.
DAVE: Oh, look him go!

Look at him go.

JOE: All right, Gel. Get ready.
ANGELICA: I'm ready.

DAVE: Get ready to reel. Your
baby brother's tired.

ANGELICA: (bleep).

JOE: Just keep reeling.

Just keep reeling.

Argh!

Ugh, you got to get angry.

ANGELICA: I am angry.

JOE: Good job.

Good tag team.

ANGELICA: Come on fish!

DAVE: So far so good.

You just got to stay with him.

JOE: We've been on
this fish two hours.

We'll be here all
night if we have to.

Atta boy, lady.

Gel's doing a great job so far.

I'm really proud of her.

Now hopefully we can
get this one on deck.

ANGELICA: Its' coming
towards the front!
DAVE: Okay.

ANGELICA: It's exhausting.

I'm tired.

Come on, Joe. You got this.

JOE: Come on, tuna.

DAVE: Three hours into it and
he's still emptying the reel.

JOE: Reel, reel, reel.

JOE: Yeah, get angry.

DAVE: I think we
hooked a submarine.

JOE: You got to dig deep.

You got to believe.

ANGELICA: Just give up already.

JOE: Now she's angry.
Keep reeling.

ANGELICA: We've been fighting
this fish for five hours now.

My (bleep) arms hurt.

Come on, Joe. You got this.

JOE: Going under the boat.

DAVE: We need an epic win here.
We need an epic win.

JOE: Swim into the light!

We've been on this
fish for seven hours.

We've been here before.

We know we don't have anything
until he's on the boat.

ANGELICA: We lost another
fish earlier this week after
fighting it for this long.

This could go either way.

DAVE: Sucker just won't quit.

JOE: There he is! Got color!
DAVE: Yup.

ANGELICA: Color.

(music)

JOE: I got the swivel.

Take the shot, Dad!

ANGELICA: Did you get him?

color!

(music)

I got the swivel.

Take the shot, Dad!

ANGELICA: Did you get him?

JOE: Oh, you got him!
You hit him.

What a (bleep) shot.

DAVE: His tail's trapped.

Come up right on
this side of me, Joe.

You got to untie it.

JOE: Slide it down.
DAVE: Got him.

JOE: Touchdown!
DAVE: Touchdown.

A lot of respect for this fish.

He didn't give up easy.
But, we stuck with it.

All right, Joe. Start coming up.

JOE: One two three.

Put it down on the deck.
Down on the deck.

Let go. Let go.

DAVE: What do we got, Gel?
ANGELICA: 89.

DAVE: 89. Nice, well done.

Well done.

It feels fantastic to
finally land our first
fish of the season.

And I can rest a little
easier knowing that the
family's taken care of now.

(laughs)

Mission accomplished.

We got him!

PAUL: Atta boy!

Good man.

MATT: Good job, boys.

BRAD: Whoo!

Good going, man. Good going.

TYLER: Wow!

(laughs)

(music)

DANIEL: Hi, Grandma!

ISABELLA: Hey,
guys, welcome home.

GIRL: Hey.

TJ: We had a great trip
with Daniel on board.

Danny helped us catch
two beautiful tunas.

We've got five fish total.

We're tied with Tyler
in the fish count.

We need really good
prices to take back
the lead from Pinwheel.

DANIEL: What do we got Scottso?

SCOTT: 253 pounds dressed.
325 pounds dressed.

TIM: Nice.
TJ: All right. Sweet.

SCOTT: Come on up,
we'll check them out.

TJ: Nice to see you.
MIKE: How are you?
ISABELLA: How are you?

TJ: What's up Boupy,
how are you, babe?

GIRL: Good, how are you?
TJ: I missed you.

TIM: This is Daniel's
best trip ever.

DANIEL: What do
you think Scottso?

SCOTT: All right. Well, we'll
start it off with the first one.

A little bit of fat in them,
good color, decent shape on him.

19 dollars a pound.

TIM: Whoo! I like
these numbers Scottso.

SCOTT: Yeah.

And this was the second one you
guys have which, is almost the
same fish just a little bit more
fat.

A little better color.
TIM: Uh-huh.

SCOTT: Good core. That'll do

20 dollars a pound.
TJ: Pa-pow!

MIKE: Good trip, Dan.
Good trip.

TJ: Awesome, man.

Danny, good haul,
buddy, good haul.

DANIEL: Thanks.
TJ: Good job.
MIKE: Awesome.

DANIEL: Wow that's big bucks.
Thanks.

TJ: Scottso, thank
you very much.

SCOTT: I'll see you guys later.
TJ: All right.

Give me a hug; I'm leaving
to go fishing. See ya.

DANIEL: Can I be captain now?

(laughs)

(music)

DAVE: Here they are! Hey! Hey!

We got a real nice one for ya.

LUKE: I heard this
one put up a fight.

ANGELICA: Hopefully
this is our comeback.

DAVE: A fine looking specimen.

ANGELICA: It's a beautiful fish.

DAVE: Well, what do we got?
What does it weigh?

LUKE: 368 pounds.

DAVE: All right, Pal, let's
come up and see what he
looks like on the inside.

JOE: Hey, what's up?
Hey, what's up?

WOMAN: Hi, we're so glad to
see you. Nice to see you.

DAVE: Woo-hoo!

LUKE: Well, this is a
beautiful fish and there's
fat all the way through it.

DAVE: Yup.

LUKE: It's nice and
oily, the color's good.

DAVE: All right, so
what do you think?

We really want to do
well on this fish?

We earned it.

LUKE: Well, I don't
know, I'd say,

I'm thinking 24 dollars a pound.

DAVE: Nice. Well done.
Well done.

We'll take it.

That's almost 9 grand for our
first fish of the season.

It doesn't get much
better than that.

I'm really proud
of you two kids.

ANGELICA: Thanks, dad.

NARRATOR: At the end of week
three of fishing, Hot Tuna's
double catch with nephew, Danny,

launches the family operation
back into the lead.

Meanwhile, Fishing Vessel Tuna
Dot Com's 450-pounder helps te
reigning champion inch past

Wicked Pissah.

And Hard Merchandise's top
quality, first catch of
the season

earns Dave and his
kids almost nine grand.

ANGELICA: Ugh.

DAVE: What?

Hey, it's a Pollock. Easy.

Remember, rods are for catching
fish not lifting fish.

DAVE: Yeah, this is a Pollock.

For this trip, it's not
good for bait so it's
this guy's lucky day.

Want to give him a kiss?
ANGELICA: No, put him back.
Put him back.

DAVE: You know what's
interesting about these?

They smell just like watermelon.

ANGELICA: No. I don't,
I don't believe you.

DAVE: Smell it.

(laughs)

JOE: She fell right
into that one.

(laughs)

DAVE MARCIANO You're
not crying are you?

I can't believe she fell
for it. Did you think.

ANGELICA: It's
because I trust you.

DAVE: Oh, remind me to
tell you, never trust me.

(laughs)
