Wicked Tuna (2012–…): Season 7, Episode 13 - Fin and a Prayer - full transcript

With three weeks left in the fishing season, the competition intensifies. It has been five seasons since Captain Tyler McLaughlin has claimed the top spot, and he is determined to fish as ...

MATT: One of these
rods is gonna go off,
right here.

MIKE: We're on!

NARRATOR: On this
episode of Wicked Tuna...

TYLER: We got one on, baby!

NARRATOR: With only three
weeks left to fish...

SANDRO: Every one counts now.

NARRATOR: As the pack...

RICK: We're on!

TJ: Down and tight, baby!

NARRATOR: Grapples
for glory...

DUFFY: T, double!

DAVE: Woo.

NARRATOR: One boat...

JOE: We're on, we're on,
we're on, we're on!

NARRATOR: Struggles
to save their season.

MARCIANO: Our batting
average sucks.

BRAD: Poor Merch.

NARRATOR: This...

SANDRO: Wow!

NARRATOR: Is Wicked Tuna.

JOE: Everyone at home
needs to be praying for
us because we need a lot

of luck to go our way.

NARRATOR: With only three
weeks until the season closes,
the young duo on Pinwheel have

a lead of less than seven
grand over friend Fish Hawk
and longtime rival

While meanwhile Wicked Pissah
and Hard Merchandise lag
behind in the earnings.

TYLER: Right now we're
gonna keep the pedal to the
metal, keep on grinding,

try and extend our lead
over the rest of the fleet.

When you're the top producer,
that's all you can do, just
keep running away with it.

I was the top boat in the
fleet five seasons ago.

But I've been chasing that
title ever since and we
came so close last year,

we finished less than
20 bucks behind Dot Com.

After so many seasons
of being so close to
getting the victory,

we are determined to come
out on top this season.

I got to set the bar
and I got to keep the
bar and that means

I got to keep raising the bar.

Every single day we got
to add to our total.

Meat on deck.

It's all about
getting meat on deck.

-Woo!

Bills seem to be, keep
coming and we just got
to keep making money.

MATT: Looks like
two balls, right?

BRAD: Yeah, put the, put the
one on the other side of 'em,
make it like a Christmas tree.

Maybe it'll attract a tuna.

That might hold the
boat up if we sink, we'll
be all standing on that

little piece of
aluminum right there.

We'd still be in the lead
if The Pinwheel didn't catch
three fish last week and knock

us right out of the top spot.

There you go, look at that.

But we're still breathing
down right down Tyler's neck.

With only three weeks left,
I feel confident that we
can catch up and beat him.

We just got to keep
doing what we've been
doing, catching fish.

MATT: Looks very
fishy back there.

Birds, slicks.

-Yes!
-Yes! We're gonna go off, here.

-So what?

DAVE: That's a
good joke, Sandro.

It's been a long season, we
had one of the slowest starts
ever and we haven't been in

the lead for weeks and last
week we didn't catch anything.

We're behind Pinwheel
and Fish Hawk, which
is not a good place to be at

this point in the season.

So we've got to
turn it around.

-That's it.

For sale sign, half price.

-Maybe I'll go to
truck driving school.

-Not yet.
We're not done yet.

We'll make one of those
epic comebacks of all time.

Just like George
Clooney said, right?

-Always find the fish.

MATT: Holy (bleep).

Hundred feet of
bait, right here.

Look at this, a whole
screen full of bait.

It looks like some tuna
on the outside of it, bro.

BRAD: Good, maybe
it'll come in.

TYLER: Tuna! Tuna! Tuna!

Just marked a couple nice
fish there, you know it's a
good sign of encouragement.

SANDRO: There he is.

MATT: This is like the
fishiest I've seen yet.

TYLER: We are
definitely marking them.

There's fish here.

-Come on, eat, eat!

-I told you we'd
start marking fish.

-Hey, Dave?

-Huh?

-I don't want you to have a
massive coronary or anything.

-We're on, we're on, we're on!

-But, we're on!

-I told you we'd
start marking fish!

All right, woo, we got a bite.

Woo-hoo, we got him!

Oh, wait, not yet!

-Jeez.

TYLER: Come on, baby, come on!

(beeping)

(clicking)

(reel unspooling rapidly)

We're on!

-We're on?

-Aah, woo, got 'em on again!

-We're on, baby, we're on!

Oh, double, T.
T, double!

I got to come, you
got to help me switch.

-We got a double.

I got heat on mine.

Yes!

Just did a bait check,
doubled right up.

-Duffy, if we bring
in both these fish,
no one can touch us.

We're gonna stay at the
top in the earnings.

-Yeah, it's a double, baby,
that's why we do this.

DAVE: Wow, that happened fast.

Here we go.

-All right, Sandro, I'm out.
-All right.

And now we're getting soaked.

Now it starts to rain.

-Let me get my jacket.

This is the one that could
put us back on top, boys!

We got a bite!

Woo!

-Got to catch him first.
-Let's try to catch him now.

Got to make this one count.

DUFFY: Shock and awe!

We are rocking and rolling on
The Pinwheel that's for sure.

-Got 'em on right here.

Got a nice a double,
these are big, big fish!

-I got him up too on my, oh!

-We lost it!

Let me see. Stop.

Oh, yeah with that
much line out.

-With that much line out.

(bleep)!

Let's focus on the one.

-Yup.

-Try and get a bunch
of line back then
I'll rig up a harpoon.

-Yeah man, we're just
gonna keep firing, dude.

We're heat-seeking, we're on
the meat, it's tough fishing,
but that's what fishing is,

it's tough then
it gets better.

DAVE: Crank, Sandro,
we need this one!

We're happy to have a
bent rod, right now.

Let's do this, come on.

Stay in there, baby.

-Reverse.

-Nice job, Geordie.

There we go.
That's it, Sandro.

-Coming up quick here, Dave.
-More left.
Easy, easy, easy, easy, easy!

-(bleep) it came
around quick there.

-That pissed him off.

-That fish was all
over the place.

-Yeah, it was.
-How you feeling?
-Nervous.

We need this one!

-Yeah, super nervous.

Stay focused, oh,
we'll get him.

Should see color here soon.

-Got 'em on!

-We got one on, baby!

Woo, big one.

We're definitely still in
the shock and awe phase.

-We need this one.

Stay ahead of everybody,
keep the pressure
on them, that's key.

That's half the battle.

Yo, T, T, come around.

That hurt him a little bit.

-Dude, we got the fish
about 60 feet from the boat,
he's right out there on top,

we're just trying
to get up on him.

-Oh, I see him, dude,
he's right there.

Straight off the end of my
line maybe 25 feet dude.

He's right up top.

Whoa, did you see him jump?

Oh, tail!

(line snap)

Oh, we lost him.

He's right on the
(bleep) surface.

-How?
-Headshakes.
-(bleep)!

-We just lost a double.

Chafed him.

-Dammit!

-Nothing you can do.

-He changed
directions a lot,

that line
was going like this,
like this, like this.

-I know, that's
what I was saying. I know.

-Pop!

We just lost two fish.
I'm pissed.

It sucks, but there's
nothing you can do.

-Looks like spaghetti, dude.

Sucks.

That's just heartbreaking.

DAVE: Come on, Sandro!

SANDRO: Keep going, man,
neutral. Reverse.

-Color.
-Swivel, right.
-Yeah, swivel, neutral.

-Watch out, watch out,
watch out, get out
of the way, Geordie!

-Take a shot!
-Hit him!

-New gaff.
-There we go, wrap him up.

-Come right to Sandro.

-Nice.

-Nice work, guys.
-Cinch it up, buddy.
-There's one.

-Yeah!

-Yeah, got him, thank God!

-Man, we needed that guy.

That's for sure.

We needed that one, for
morale most importantly.

-I feel better now.

-Yeah.

-Right, good job, guys.

(grunting).

It's like getting the weight
off your shoulders when you
get another fish on deck.

This is the shot in the
arm that you wait for when
you're in a dry spell.

81.

-81.
-81, baby!

Hey, what did we do
with the For-Sale sign?

We gonna put it up now, or?

-No, keep it still
there for now.

-Keep it there.

-Don't let it go.
Don't lose it though.

-We still need a
couple more fish.

-Let's go get another one.

MARCIANO: Make a
right (bleep) move.

Start bringing that other
one in, I'll get this one.

ANGELICA: The mood on the
boat couldn't be worse.

To say it's been a slow
day is an understatement.

There's not really
been much happening,
not even with bait,

especially not with tuna.

It's been a really
hard season for us.

Meanwhile, the
rest of the fleet,
they're catching

$10,000 fish or bringing
in three fish at a time.

We haven't really seen much,
we definitely haven't caught
much, so it kind of sucks.

And last week when we
finally hook up after
weeks of not catching.

-Fish (bleep) sawed
off a $1,000 anchor.

(bleep), (bleep), (bleep)!

-My dad hit rock bottom.

-Wow, wow, (bleep)!

-It does suck, especially
since we're so far behind.

(bleep)!

-What are we doing
to that big guy?

JOE: He'll come
up kill something.

-It's already dead, good job.

-Kill him again and
pretend he's a tuna.

Ugh! Well, so now we wait.

See what happens.

PAUL: Yeah, woo, we're
going down deep, boys.

We're going down!

We're going down,
we're gonna go get 'em!

We're gonna go
get 'em way down!

Just when you think it's a
Blue Dog, it's a Bluefin.

Woo, I've been fishing for
40 years, it's in my blood.

Since I've been captaining
my own boat, I've never ended
a season as the top earner,

but I've come close.

Two years ago, I lost
the top spot to Dot Com
for less than 200 bucks.

I know what I'm doing,
but I don't think the
fleet takes me seriously.

TJ: Paul is a whole
'nother level of crazy.

He's telling that rowboat
fishing story again.

"And he put me rowboat
and said, you go, Paul."

I barely knew
how to wipe my ass.

PAUL: But with Rick
by my side, we are
the ultimate team.

I'm gonna prove that
I'm one of the best tuna
fisherman out there and

get the respect I deserve.

I feel very good
about today, you know?

With three weeks left
Wicked Pissah's gonna be
wicked busy catching fish.

Bam!

-Yeah.

-Nice, we got lines
out though, right?

(beeping)

Oh, look at the tuna.

(bleep)!

Look at it!

-Yeah.

-Oh yeah, come on, tuna!
Big mark!

(clicking)

(reel usnpooling rapidly)

-We're on!

-Nice! Go get 'em, Rick!

Keep 'em coming!

-He's a good fish.

He's fighting hard
and pulling strong.

Come on, boy!

-This could be another ten
grand like our last two fish!

Right when you hook
up, your stomachs at
the pit of your throat.

-He's a strong little sucker.

-Oh, he's not little.
I'll tell you that.

-We got leader!
-Right there!

We're gonna get him
on this pass, ready?

-Yeah.
-We're gonna get a shot here.

See him?

-Yeah, Paul, you're
tangled don't throw it!

-Oh, (bleep)!

RICK: Oh my God!

PAUL: See him?

-Yeah!
-Watch out.

-Paul, you're
tangled don't throw it!

-Oh, ugh! (bleep).
What the (bleep)?

-Oh my God!

PAUL: Ugh, got him!

You got to watch out,
you got to watch out.

(bleep), it's too many
people in the corner.

We could have, we
could have all (bleep)
went overboard.

If he takes off,
dude, you're dead.

You lose your footing,
you go overboard, I've
seen people get killed

harpooning tuna fish.

Getting pulled over, wrapped
up, you never see 'em again.

They're dead.

It's dangerous, dude.

Let me gaff.

We don't got him yet.

Get the tail wrap on him.

-Got him!

-Oh!

That was a close one, Rick.

Nice!

But he's a beauty fish.

RICK: We stuck it
out and we got one.

What a great battle,
that's a nice fish.

-This fish nearly took
us overboard, but we
got it and it could be

another 10-grand payday.

86 and a half.

-Wow, let's hope it
gives us a good paycheck.

We could certainly use it.

-Yeah, oh, mark,
we're marking!

There's another one!

(clicking)

(reel unspooling rapidly)

Here we go, here we go!

-Second fish on the line.

-Woo, get on the fish.

I got to drive the boat, so...

-Yeah sir, I'll get on that.

-You get on that.

Come on, Rick, bring
number two to the boat.

-This fish is running hard.

It might be a cow.

Taking a little line.

-Now that's a screamer, yeah!

-Now it's just give
and take, right here.

We got to get this
second fish, Paul.

-Woo, keep reeling.

What a crazy fish.

You got him coming, huh Rick?

-Yeah.

-Woo, we should be
seeing him soon.

Don't give up, don't quit.

-He's right here, Paul.

-See him?

-Yeah.

-Where is he? Nice fish!

-There's your shot, Paulie!

-Ugh, loosen up, loosen up!

Get me a gaff,
gaff his tail, easy.

Lift it up, tail rope.

Yeah, Ricky!

-Yeah.
-Boom! Who's laughing now?

Wicked Pissah's the only
boat with two fish this week.

Two, so far.

This second fish could
put us in the mix for the
title of the top earning

boat in the fleet.

Bam, baby!

It's all good in the hood.

And go!

He's 87 inches.

That's bigger than I thought.

-That doesn't suck at all.

-No.
-No.

MARCIANO: We're just about
to get our first bait
of the day in the water.

If we're gonna gamble
it, now's the best time.

See if we can turn this
dead bait into a dead tuna.

DAVE (over radio): Hey, Dave?
Come in, come in?

Yeah, what's going on
over there, anything?

MARCIANO (over radio):
Yeah, good morning,
Dave, good morning.

DAVE (over radio): We caught
one yesterday, so we're gonna
stay right on this spot and

see if we can get
another one on the deck.

You should definitely
get over here.

MARCIANO: Yeah, we're
gonna work on getting some
live baits on the hooks.

Our last trip was a
disaster, we had everything
break, we caught a fish,

but he sawed off my $1,000
anchor, so we had to come
in and get a new anchor.

DAVE: I wanted to reach
out to Marciano because I
know he's having a bad year,

we worked together
earlier this season.

SANDRO: That's a nice one!

DAVE: And that alliance
paid off for us.

I'd like to pay it forward
and help Dave if I can.

I respect him
and don't want to see
his season end badly.

I got a couple
pieces of bait if you,
uh, if you need it.

We just jigged
up a whole bunch.

MARCIANO: Okay, good, good.
That's good to know.

Still, while we
can we'll try and stay
here, but if I have to,

I'm not too far from you;

I'm only, like,
six miles from you.

We'll be standing by here.

We're gonna see
what happens today.

DAVE: All right.
Good luck, you'll get him.
Talk to you in a bit.

MIKE: He's been
having a tough season.

-You ain't kidding, holy moly.

He's like a really bad season.

I don't think it
gets any worse.

-No.

-Wow, I know his
daughter's trying to pay off
the college stuff too, man.

It ain't going too
good over there.

-Definitely not.

-Poor guy.

-Dave Marciano's having a
really, really hard time...

-Yeah!

-With fishing this
year, we all do.

-Sure.

-He's letting it get
to him and he can't.

BRAD: Two seasons in a
row, Merch is sucking wind.

MATT: He won it a few
years back, I thought.

I thought he was the number
one boat in the fleet.

-Every dog has his day,
you know that, Matt.

-Oh yeah.
-Oh, man. Poor Merch.

TJ: Beautiful day in
the Gulf of Maine.

Greasy, slick calm.

Today's not your average
day in the Gulf of Maine,
today's Jarrett's birthday,

so we've got
to do something to kind of
celebrate the Polish Fabio.

We're having our best
season in a long time.

There have been some
slow weeks, but we kept
fishing and it's paid off.

JARRETT: Today's my birthday.

I love fishing on my birthday.

I like catching on my
birthday even better.

-I would like to
celebrate with a tuna
more than anything.

There's three boats ahead of
us in the earnings, but with
almost three weeks left,

we've got a real shot
at ending this season as
the leader of the fleet.

-Hopefully a beautiful day
with two fish in the hole and
go home, and go to happy hour.

(beeping)

-There he is, 150
feet, watch the rods.

Come on, Jarrett,
birthday tuna.

If we can get a fish on the
deck today, it could really
move us up the ladder and

it could give us a little
extra money to buy Jarrett
a really nice bottle of

shampoo for his birthday.

-Please, tuna, hook up for me.

-Come on, you dirty dog you.
Come on, guys, bite.

Oh! Where'd he go?

He disappeared.

He's gone.

I thought you were gonna
get a bite there, Jarrett.

-Just waiting on
a birthday fish.

-He said "(bleep) you,
birthday boy."

Bummer, man.
Did you hear that?

(clicking)

(reel unspooling rapidly)

We're on, let's go, wazzah!

-TJ!

-TJ, Jarrett, get on the
rod, I got the anchor.

-Pa-pow!

-Feels like a good one
-You got to pull forward!

-Guys were just
changing the baits out.

-I like just changed
that bait out, like
not even five minutes.

-Not even like,
not even, not even!

-Come on, baby, come to daddy!

-Down and tight, baby.
Down and tight.

Oh my God, I see him,
he's right there.

I see deep color.

Swivel.

-Come on, guys,
we really need this one.

Can't lose him!

-Good shot!

-Gaff!

-He's right there.
Right there! Oh! Tail gaff!

-Tail gaff!
-Woo!
-Nice job, baby!

-Nice, yeah!
-Happy Birthday, Cuz!
-Yeah, baby!

-Happy birthday, man!
Happy birthday! Happy birthday!

-Woo, pa-pow, baby!
-Birthday Bluefins, baby!
-Woo!

-Two years in a row,
birthday Bluefins!

-Got the good luck.

-It's always good luck.

That's the best birthday
present you could
ask for right there.

Hands down.

We got one hanging off
the back of the boat!

Hell yes, woo!

-Let's get this fish onboard.

-87.

-87, all right.

-Good job, boys.

We all wanted a fish for
Jarrett's birthday and the
Tuna Gods came through.

Not only does this
mean another paycheck
for the Hot Tuna,

but hopefully we'll be
in great shape to move
up the leaderboard.

Perfect size.

-Nice work, nice work.
-Nice job, Bubby.
-Nice!

-Woo!

-What do you think, Ripple, huh?
-That's a keeper.

-Jerry's birthday.
-Happy birthday.
-Thank you.

MATT: Pick a bait, any bait,
come on go for that one.

Come on one of these squid
are getting eaten right now.

One of these squid are
going off right now.

BRAD: I wish it
was flat calm, man.

Wicked Pissah caught
two fish already this week
and almost all the other

boats are catching too.

We've definitely dropped
out of second position in
the fleet at this point.

-Come on Fish Hawk, baby!

-Now there's less than
three weeks left to fish.

We need to get
a fish on deck to get
back into the top spot.

(beeping)

Yeah, buddy.
We got one coming
on the screen.

-One of these rods are
gonna go off, right here.

Come on.

-Come on, tuna!

(beeping)

-This is where
we hook up, Brad.
Let's get him!

-You got him dragging?

(reel unspooling rapidly)

-We're on, we're on!

-Woo!

MATT: Fish on! Got him on!

MATT: We're on, woo,
fish on, got 'em on!

BRAD: Let him run out away
to the left of our anchor.

We don't want to mess
with our anchor line.

-Got him on!

We got a real one on bro, woo!

-Reel, reel!

-Let's hope the
Tuna Gods are with us.

They let us land this one.

I can feel he's heavy.

He's, like, fighting
like a big tuna.

-Yeah, baby.

-See what he does
here when we stop.

Oh, yeah.

-We're ecstatic.

-Woo.

-Yeah!

-This ain't no short,
boss, no way.

He just feels heavy.

-It's a nice fish.

-Nice fish.

We're gonna see him here,
he's gonna come right
up to the surface for ya.

Geez.

This is a big crazy fish, man.

We need this one.

Hey, Brad, you got
to go forward, man.

That's good, Brad.

-If he goes crazy, just
loosen that drag all right?

-Yeah, that's good, Brad.

I got leader.

Here he is right here, Brad.

Watch yourself, woo!

-Let him go, let him go!

-Oh, (bleep).

What, (bleep) get
out of there, Brad.

He's pissed, holy (bleep).

-This is terrible.

-What?

-I got to back up.
-Out of what?
-That!

This fish is running
into a lobster buoy.

There's metal grommets,
and it can easily get
caught and cut right off.

We've got to get this
fish away from the buoy.

Quick, get on the
other side of the boat.

Here he comes.

Come to papa.

Get the gaff.

Get that tail tope, quick.

Hurry up.

-Woo, game over.
-Woo!
-Game over.

-Woo!
-Woo!
-Thanks for playing.

-Worst to first. Fish Hawk!

-Here we go.

-Yeah!

-This fish couldn't have
come at a better time.

Pinwheel and Dot Com
better watch out,
Fish Hawk is back, baby.

-That was suh-weet, huh?

-God bless you, buddy.

Have a good trip
to tuna heaven.

You're going to heaven now
with all the rest of the tuna.

Ooh, 83 inches.

-83 inches, nice
we'll take it.

-83 inches.
-Woo, Fish Hawk, ka-kaw!

TJ: Just getting back into
beautiful Gloucester harbor.

We've been on a roll lately,
fishing's been good, you know,
we've been right there in the

competition, trying to get to
the top of that leaderboard.

So, hopefully Scottso's
got his checkbook and
he's feeling generous.

-What's up, Scott?
-What's up, guys?
-What's shaking, Scottso?

-What do you guys have?

-We got one beauty
down here, bro.

Want to get him out,
get him checked out?

-Yeah, let's do it.

-If we're gonna have
a chance of overtaking the
fleet's top three earners and

ending the season as
Gloucester's top
earning Bluefin boat,

we need good money here.

What are we looking
at, Scottso?

-334 pounds dressed.

-Beautiful, perfect size.
-Beautiful.
-Want to check him out?

-Yeah.
-All right, bud.

So far this season
our fish have averaged
almost $19 a pound,

so I'm hoping this
one's good quality too.

-It's a decent fish.

-That's a nice
looking one. Huh?

-Yeah, yeah, look at
that core it's glowing.

-That core is glowing.
-That is a beautiful core.
-Yeah, that is, it's nice.

-So, I mean what
are you thinking?

What's your gut telling you?

-It's loaded with fat; you
can see it everywhere in it.

$20 a pound.

-Hey now, Scottso!

Always a pleasure
to see you, buddy.

-Good to see you guys.

-Scottso, we're gonna
be right back out there,
buddy, see you soon.

-All right, sounds good.
Go get 'em!

-My number one goal
the next few weeks of fishing
is just to stay out there and

to stay focused and
to make sure I put the

boat in the best possible
position for us to catch fish.

That's how we're
gonna retain our edge.

Now we're off in the
Bluefin groove, baby.

Pa-pow!

The rest of the fleet
better watch out.

PAUL: Payday, baby.

We got two nice ones.

-Nice, Paulie, nice.

Let's see what they look like.

-So far this week we're the
only boat to land two fish.

These two are gonna go
a long way to getting us
closer to the prize of the

top earning boat in Gloucester.

What do you got for
weight on this one, PJ?

-185 pounds, 256 pounds.

-Very nice. Let's check the
meat out and get a nice price.

-Yeah.

-We're hoping for
a good price today so
we can keep moving up.

I heard Hot Tuna got
20 bucks a pound for the single
fish they just brought in.

I'm hoping we get more
for these two beauties.

How we looking
on this one, PJ?

-That's a nice
little fish, Paul.

-I knew it was.

-Look at the fat, all the
way through the majors.

-I know, I was very shocked.

I'm psyched.

-This one here, a small fish.

$21 a pound.

-Yeah, that's beautiful.
-Nice, nice, awesome.
-Thanks, PJ.

-Way to go, guys.

-What do you got here, PJ?

-Nice cherry core, nice
pinkish tail, buttery fat.

$22 a pound.

-That one's even better!
-Yeah!
-We did it!

-That's a nice fish, Paul.
Way to go, man.

-That's good, I'm glad.
-Rick, way to go, buddy.

-Catching fire like always
do late in the season.

-Keep 'em coming,
boys, keep 'em coming.

PAUL: Rick and I can easily
make our way to the top
of the fleet by the end.

Watch out everybody,
Payday Baby's coming for you.

Let's go get 'em.

RICK: Payday Baby.

DAVE: It is what it is.

-Double up, we
got to double up.

-We can't be on top every day.

You can say that all you want.

DAVE: I just want
to catch a few fish.

We may have caught an 81
incher earlier this week, but
that's definitely not enough

to get us ahead of The
Pinwheel in the earnings.

There's less than three weeks
left to fish and if we're
going to finish this season as

Gloucester's top
producing boat, we need to
catch more fish this trip.

Hang in there.

We've been here before.

-Yes, we have, yes, we have.

-On the flip side, I also
feel really fortunate about how
our season has progressed,

especially when I think
about how badly the Hard
Merchandise has been doing.

-There's a nice bait
fishing doubleheader.

-Yeah.

-There he is,
ah, all over it.

(clicking)

He's going down!

(reel unspooling rapidly)

-We're on, we're on,
we're on, we're on.

-There it goes.

-All right, woo!

DAVE (over radio): Hey, Dave?

MARCIANO: Yeah, go ahead.

DAVE (over radio):
I'd get over here,
we're on again.

Get over here as
quick as you can.

MARCIANO (over radio):
All right. All right.

DAVE (over radio):
All right, I'm on
the north side,

got to go, the north side.

MARCIANO (over radio):
All right, thanks a lot, Dave.

Okay, the fish are
biting over there, let's go.

This could finally
be our chance.

ANGELICA: We got this.

we're on, we're on.

-There it goes, woo!

Marciano's on his way.

Just like that, we are on.

-Woo, we're on!

-Wow.

There he goes.

-Whoa, whoa!

-Wow, he's pissed.

Wow, he just woke up.

-Man, that's crazy.

-We need this fish to
get back in the lead.

-Here take it off,
I'll jump on.

-Whoa, whoa.
-Wow.
-That was badass.

Usually fish that act like
this are pretty damn big.

-And big fish can
equal big money.

Swivel.

Out of the water
coming on the tip.

-Give me a shot.

Show yourself.

-Get ready, get ready!

Go forward left.

Neutral, forward straight
and reverse, hard reverse,
hard, hard, and neutral.

-Get ready, get ready,
get ready, get ready,
and start going back!

Oh, my God!

-Now coming back
across, Geordie.

-He's right here,
he's right here!

-This could be
our shot, color.

-There we go, nice shot!

-Got him.

Gaff, come left.

All right, got him?

-Got him.
-Wow.
-All right, got him.

I'm wrapped, good, yep, good.

-Good?

That was an epic battle.

-Wow, I'm happy we got him.

-That's what I'm
talking about.

Nice job, boys.

-That little fish
just kicked your ass.

We got him, that's
all that matters.

Another one for the board,
because we really need this.

All right, go ahead.

Got him.

Awesome, so beautiful
is what he looks like.

-Let's measure him up,
bub, what do you say?

All right, you got on
the nose there, 94.

-That's a nice one, bub.

-Yeah, bub.

-Oh, good, Hard Merch made it.

Fingers crossed they get a
nice one just like we did.

This second fish is just
confirmation that the Dot Com
is gonna be on top for the

third year in a row at
the end of this season.

We are on fire!

TYLER: Dammit, Duff!

Everyone's on a catching
spree this week, except us.

All right, let's get fishing.

There's herring coming
through like crazy.

DUFFY: A couple more
baits real quick?

-What?

-Want to grab a
couple more baits?

-We're gonna get plenty
of bait, look at the screen.

-All right.
-Look at what we got going on.

-That's fine,
yeah, yeah, yeah!

-None of the other
rods are ready to go?

-No, dude.

TYLER: Get the lines
ready now, man!

Hurry up.

We haven't caught
anything this trip and
we're losing our lead.

Dot Com's like a yappy little
dog nipping at our heels.

We cannot have that guy
be the top dog again.

-You want to stick with
those little crimps?

-Yup.

Something's got to change.

Get rid of that, new leaders.

All right, here go put this
back there in that rod holder.

Got to get moving.

MATT: Fish Hawk, Ka-kaw!

BRAD: Hey, it's
Heather and The Gut!

-What's going on, Brad?

-Hey, Daddy-O.

-We got one more for you.

-What do you say
we get it off?

-Yeah.

-My wife, Heather's been
coming to the dock for 30
years to see me offload tuna

and celebrate our good
fortunes together.

I'm so proud that Matt
and I have been doing
so well this season,

bringing home paychecks
for our families.

What do we go on
this one, Gut?

-333 pounds dressed.

-Nice.
-Nice.
-Nice.

-We're gonna come
check him out, Gut.

-All right.

-Hey.

-Hey, Gut what do you got?

-I don't know your wife's
been bribing me all night.

-We need help.

-We need help, a little love.

-We got some fat, a
little bit, not loaded
but it's decent.

Give you 16 bucks a pound.

-Hey, that's a
good price, Gut.

-That's a good price.
We'll take that.

-Hey, we'll take it.
They all add up.
Thanks, Gut.

-Thank you, Gut.
-Way to go, Gut.

-All right. Thank you,
guys have a good night.

-We've been one of the top
earning boats in the fleet
all season and if we can

keep up this roll, we might
finish this season as
Gloucester's top producer.

Nothing could be
better than that.

MATT: We're right
there with Tyler.
We could beat him.

BRAD: Tyler can suck it!

JOE: Whales all around the
boat, a lot of life here.

We're just waiting for a
tuna, we just marked one.

Wow, right there, just jumped
right out of the water.

MARCIANO: Dave Dot Com
put us on this spot.

There's a lot of life here
and that usually means
tuna are hanging around.

The whales are chasing the
same thing the tuna fish are.

If we're seeing whales
we're in a good zone to
be finding some tuna.

ANGELICA: No fish yet.

They're gonna come over
because there was just three,
three jumps over there.

Oh, my God!

-There he is!

-He's so small, but so large!

-He's just about the
right size for eating
when they're that big.

-No!

-We've been losing
money for weeks.

No paycheck for me
or the crew, my kids.

It's very hard to swallow.

I really hope today pays off.

Let's look at all kinds
of life here, Joe.

We got the whales, we
got this herring coming
through steady now.

Seeing all this
life I can definitely
feel better about it.

-We'll get a bite
today for sure.

-Between you and me,
I am a little worried,
I am a little nervous,

but I need to show these
guys what's important
is moving forward.

-Hey, Papa.

-What?

-Nothing, or?

-Oh, yeah, no, that's a fish.

He's out back by
the rods a little.

There's one down there, Joe!

That's right where
our baits are too.
Right in the zone.

-Perfect, okay.

(beeping)

(clicking)

(reel unspooling rapidly)

-We're on, we're on,
we're on, we're on!

-All right, here we go!

-Yeah, all right,
he's screaming!

We're getting low.

-He's got a lot of line out.

We got to get this line back.

-We got to get this fish.

We're behind.

Everyone at home needs
to be praying for us right
now because we need a lot

of luck to go our way.

Hopefully this is the
one we're gonna land.

-Here we go, ready?

Let's do it.

Here we go.

-We have to get this fish,
that's the bottom line.

-All right, Gel, ready?

-Yep.

-All right, get on it.

-All right.

-Just wind if you can
while we're chasing him.

-Let him run!
Let him run!

Good job, Gel, good job.

Pull down reel, there you go!

-I think it's really
important to have this sort
of camaraderie that we have.

-Doing good, Gel.

-When times are tough it
makes it a lot easier.

-You're doing it perfect.

-Reel, reel, reel, reel,
keep reeling, keep reeling!

-I'm not nearly as nervous
on the rod now because
I believe in my dad,

who believes in
me and I have a lot more
experience than I did when

I started as a greenhorn
at the beginning of the season.

-Charging the boat!

-Need help, Gel?

-Yeah.

-Keep going, keep
going, keep going!

-He can do a lot faster
than I can, so I'm
letting him take over.

-We need some luck
to go our way.

Our batting average sucks.

We really got to redeem
ourselves and put
this one on the boat.

-He's charging the boat!

-You got this.

-You get him, Joe?

-(bleep), Ah!

He's acting weird.

Come on, please.

MARCIANO: We just
can't let him get away!

(cranking reel)

JOE: He's charging the boat!

ANGELICA: You got this!

-You get him, Joe?

-(bleep), Ah!

He's acting weird!

Come on, please.

-We just can't
let him get away.

-We could lose the
fish, right here.

-Stay on him!

-Coming at us.

-Come on, now, we
need this fish!

Good, Joe?

-Yeah, yeah, he's still on!

-Good job.

-See how he just charged
the boat like that?

-Doing the Bluefin boogey, so
I was just dancing with him.

-We got him close,
but not close enough.

We need to get him.

-Come on, please.

-It's crucial that we make
some money this week because
our ability to earn a paycheck

dries up in less than three
weeks when the season is over.

This fish couldn't have
come at a better time.

Now we just need to
get it to the boat.

-A little bit of
extra pressure, or no?

-Yep. Yep.

-Coming back.

-This one's
definitely acting up.

He's not coming easy.

We'll get him,
guys, we'll get him.

-We'll get him, yup.

-Well, this fish just won't
circle, he keeps doing these
figure eights and it's really

hard to land 'em like that.

One wrong move, he's gonna
get under the boat and it's
gonna be game over again.

-I got color!

-There he is.

-Oh, yeah, there he is.

-A little bit more,
guys, if our luck holds.

-He's right here.

-All right, this is
crucial now, guys.

All right, Joe, switch
with me, switch with me.

Go, go, go. Get the gaff.

That's in.
Get your tail strap
ready, Gel!

-I got it.

-Down by the tail, attaboy!

There you go, Gel
with your tail strap.

Attagirl.

Attagirl, you got him.

Cleat it off.

All right, guys.

-Yeah.

-Well done we got him.

Broke the ice.

Well done, good job, guys.

Great job.

All right, Gel,
start coming up.

For my kids' sake,
we got to make a good
showing this year.

-One, two, three.

-Three.

-Not only for
financial reasons.

Yup, I need money and
my crew needs money, to
show them that no matter

how bad things get,

if you keep plugging, it'll
all come out well in the end.

-What's that say, Gel?
I can't read it.

-84.
-84, nice, nice one.
-Oh, yeah.

-Yeah.

-Over the rail
and in the pail.

DAVE: What's up, Dixon, we
got two nice one's for you.

Clock's ticking.

-Let's do it.

DAVE: These two fish may
put us back in the lead.

They're not monsters, but the
quality hopefully is there.

What do you got?

-298 pounds, 282 pounds.

-Wow!

SANDRO: Oh, baby that's
nice for that fish.

-All right, let's check 'em out.
We're coming up.

-All right.

DAVE: So far this season
our fish have averaged
about $16 a pound.

If we can get something
comparable, we'll easily push
Pinwheel out of the lead.

-I'll start with this one.

-That's nice.

-That's got a
lot of fat in it.

Real fatty, real
oily, nice and round.

-What do you
think on that one?

-I'm thinking $20 a pound.

-Yeah, not bad.

-Nice good score, thank you.

-That's good, let's
keep it going.

What do you think
on the second one?

-Still very nice.

Just a little less fat.

The core isn't as
translucent on this one.

-What do you
think on this one?

-$18 a pound.

-Nice.
-Nice, another big score.

-Thank you very, very
much, that's a payday
right there, guys.

-Thanks, bud.
-Absolutely.

We need to do this for
just two more weeks and we'll
finish another season as

Gloucester's top earning
Bluefin boat once again.

Another payday
for the Dot Com.

Hopefully Hard Merch
gets a good payday too.

MARCIANO: Scottso,
what's going on?

-Hey, what's up, Dave?

-We got one fish.
I hope you're gonna like it.

-All right, let's
see what we got.

-Let's do it.

I'm just so relieved that
we landed a good-sized
fish this week.

And me the kids and I, are
gonna take home a paycheck.

And we couldn't have
done it without the help
of Dave on the Dot Com

putting us on his hotspot.

What do you got, Scotty?

-381 pounds dressed.

-We'll take it.

-All right, let's get up
there guys and see how
it looks on the inside.

-I'm feeling good
about this one.

-We only got one,
but I thought it was
a pretty decent fish.

-Yeah, I can see
the fat in it.

-Yeah.
-Oh, yeah.

-All around good
shape on it too.

-Good, yup, nice clear core.

-This fish right here...

I'll do $22 a pound.

-Nice!
-Nice, awesome.
-Good, well done, great.

-That's a big score.
We might actually get paid.

You hear that?

-Don't hold your breath,
Joe don't hold your breath.

-Oh, I can't wait.

-More than eight grand,
now that's a payday.

Now we just got to keep
this going for the final
two weeks of the season and

put some money in the bank.

Don't count us out yet, guys.

It ain't over till
the fat lady sings.

NARRATOR: With only two weeks
until the season closes,

give last year's
top producer a
four-grand lead over

the young duo on Pinwheel.

While Fish Hawk
remains in hot pursuit.

And paydays for
Hot Tuna, Wicked Pissah
and Hard Merchandise

keep them in the game.

-The season is almost over.

And with the final
paychecks up for grabs,
we're all gonna be battling

till the bitter end.

-Let's bring this one home!

Pinwheel and Fish Hawk
better make way because
the Black Boat is

taking over once again.

BRAD: We started
this season looking for
redemption for The Fish Hawk.

I would like nothing
more than to end
this season on top.

MATT: Worst to first, baby!

PAUL: We're still in
fifth place, we just
need to push harder.

We need to come with
a wrecking ball!

MARCIANO: Dave and the Dot Com
has been able to turn his
season around and

I'm hoping we're gonna
be able to do the same.

We're marking!

TJ: Tomorrow's a new day,
where we've got a fighting
chance to regain that top spot

and finish this
season on a high note.

Get the gaff!

TYLER: The Pinwheel's not
settling for second place!

We're taking the top spot.

Reel, reel, reel!

-We're coming for ya!
-We want to be that top boat.
-This season is almost over.

-Come on, now!
We need this fish!
