The battle rounds begin as the coaches enlist music industry powerhouses Jimmie Allen, Sean Paul, Charlie Puth and Jazmine Sullivan to prepare their artists to go head-to-head in hopes of advancing; each coach has 1 steal and 1 save.

When Gwen
asked me to be an adviser,

I thought it was a
perfect opportunity for me

to impart some of the knowledge
I've learned over the years.

Yes! That was unexpected.

"The Voice" is definitely
about more raw talent for me.

It's one of the
reasons I like this show.

This is two of my teammates.

Jillian was the
one that came out,

and she had, like, the craziest
opening lines to the song.

And you were like, "Bang!"

Immediately I was
like, "This girl's for me."

Just a few months ago,

I was sitting on my couch at
home watching "The Voice"

with my family,
and now I'm here.

You're a really good singer.

I'm so very grateful.

My family is very supportive.

They will do anything
for me to succeed.

Got a stepmom, a stepdad,
three new stepsisters,

a stepbrother, and
a biological sister.

One big happy family. I love it.

I pressed my button 'cause
I loved her voice so much.

She's really young.

I really feel like she's

Ever since the age of 13,

I've been interested in
coming on "The Voice,"

but I never thought it
would, like, actually happen.

At 16 years old, to
channel that emotion,

I need to work with you.

My grandma has been
a huge inspiration for me.

She introduced me
to older '60s bands,

and she would play around
the house all the time.

That's how it started,
and then I did theater.

It's really where I found
my love for being on stage.

So to finally be
here at the Battles

is beyond what I imagined,

and it's very awesome,
very awesome.

your fancy stuff,

it's such a backhanded thing.

So if you put, like,
a fancy thing on it,

it takes away from the emotion.

Loses its purpose a

to get a little
nasally and tight.

I think that you
could be warmer.

Open your voice up a
little bit more, round it out.

Also, we need to work
more on your body language.

Definitely. You need
to get off that mike stand

and start to get your
body to connect to the song

Usually for me on stage,
if I'm having a bad day

touring or whatever,
I look at the crowd,

and there's people who
got smiles in their face

because of the
lyrics I'm saying,

and that automatically transfers
to my giving it back to them.

So bring us into,
like, your world.

This is such a visual song,

and if you don't do it right
with your facial expressions,

you're missing a
really good opportunity.

Getting into the character,
living that moment is very key.

As a kid, I watched
my dad write songs.

He was running a studio.

And that instilled a lot of

confident on the mic.

So being a successful songwriter

really made my dad
smile a lot over the years.

But I want to deliver a
performance that gets me

to the next stage as a singer,
and this is, like, a dream.

I chose "Wrecking Ball" for them

because they're both powerhouse
singers in different ways.

And "Wrecking Ball" is
a really emotional song,

and I feel like
they're great at belting

those messages.

Steven's voice, it's
almost like an alto saxophone.

It is loud and clear.

There's not one instrument
that you can put on top of it.

I think Morgan is so special.

She's just so connected to
her humanity and her feelings,

and it just bleeds
through her voice.

That was so emotional.

That gave me leg chills!

I feel like when you guys
lean into that honest place,

like, singing it to each
other, which I feel like,

Morgan, you're really,
really leaning into that.

And I think, Steve, you
could lean into that even more.

Right. Because I think
that you don't even notice

that it subconsciously
changes how you sing.

Your body is naturally
gonna go to a place

if you're thinking about

a real-life situation
that happened to you.

You're gonna make
people feel feelings. Yeah.

And also exploring different
textures and different emotions.

I've been married
for 18 years almost.

it raw and unfiltered.

a lot of emotions in
this, too? Oh, yeah.

I have had, we'll just say,
a very, very toxic person

in my life.

The more I was succeeding,
the more that person

needed to take control and
bring me down to the point

that I really did become
a complete shell of myself.

So it's easy to go
there in this song.
