The Voice (2011–…): Season 21, Episode 6 - Blind Auditions, Part 6 - full transcript

The Voice: Blind Auditions, Part 6

and you need to make sure

you know how to celebrate.

Okay.

"My team is full."

You have to say that.

I'm loud.

Voluminous.

Yes.

I'm gonna,

"My team is full!"

Yeah.

[ "Full" echoing ]

Wow.

[ Horns honk ]

[ Birds screech ]

[ Echoing continues ]

[ High-pitched tone plays ]

Wow.

With gusto. It was nice.

You got to go big.

That's phenomenal.

Yeah. That might be

a little much, but I would say,

be yourself --

whatever the spirit moves you.

Yeah, thank you.

Kind of advice is that?

It's real advice.

She is a rookie.

Tell her how to do this.

And I think being herself

has got her where she is.

You literally

have to get up there

and make a big deal out of this.

So, milk it.

Yeah.

Okay.

My ear is deaf.

That was happening

before today, so...

[ Laughter ]

Yeah!

This is crazy.

* Yeah

* Lift your hands

I'm Aaron Hines.

I'm from San Antonio, Texas.

* Whoo, yeah

* Yeah

Growing up,

my mom would take us to church,

and I remember just being

kind of blown away

by the musicians there.

John...

John Legend has played

such an instrumental part

in who I am as an artist.

My first time performing

for a real audience

was eighth-grade talent show,

was a John Legend song.

I was so nervous.

I remember the intro

to "Ordinary People" starting,

and then I closed my eyes.

I just remember all of

the nerves disappearing.

**

And now one thing that I do

is sing at weddings.

One of the songs that I sing

is "All of Me."

I studied music performance

in college.

I led for a while at church.

When being done with that job

and thinking about

where I wanted to go next,

I remember getting a call

from my mom.

She's like, "Okay, well,

I just left the doctor,

and I found out

I have breast cancer."

I remember hanging up the phone,

and it was like

a weight hit me.

My immediate thought was,

"I got to go.

I don't know

what I'm going to do,"

but I just know

I needed to be there.

And my mom -- she wanted me

to keep focusing on music.

**

[ Voice breaking ] My mom

has been my hope for humanity...

and the reminder of the why.

She's always been the why.

I-I remember for like

the -- the year and a half

that she was going through it,

every call I got,

my heart would drop

'cause I was thinking it was

gonna be the --

the call that

she wasn't there anymore.

**

[ Sniffling ]

**

Yeah.

My mom's staying strong.

It's pretty amazing.

I was cleared October

of this past year.

Yeah.

So I am

breast-cancer-free, so...

Say it again. Say it again

for the people in the back.

I am breast-cancer-free.

[ Chuckles ]

Knowing that my mom is watching

just makes me excited

and motivated

to be the best I can be.

Just go out there

and give it your all.

Yeah.

I am so proud of you.

John Legend --

I have grown up with him.

This is honestly

a full-circle moment.

But I would be beyond excited to

work with any of those coaches.

Daly:

Give it up for our coaches...

[ Cheers and applause ]

...Kelly Clarkson,

John Legend...

Aaron: A chair turn would be...

Daly: ...Blake Shelton...

...the representation of just

all the hard work I've put in.

Okay. Okay.

I know the teams are

starting to fill up,

but I'm going to give it

everything I have.

I'm caffeinated!

I feel good!

John: So excited!

So excited!

One more person.

I know. I have one more.

I'm gonna fill up today.

**

**

* Hhmmm

* Balloons are deflated

All right.

* And I guess they look

lifeless like me *

* We miss you

on your side of the bed *

* Ooooo

Ooh.

* And I still got

your things here *

* They stare at me

like souvenirs *

* Don't wanna let you

out my head *

* Just like the day

that I met you *

* Day I thought forever

* You said that you love me

* But that'll last

for never *

* It's cold outside

* When you

walked out my life *

* Why you walk out my life?

* And I

[ Cheers and applause ]

* Get like this every time

* And on these days that feel

like you and me *

* Heartbreak anniversary

* And I

* Remember every time

[ Laughs ]

* On these days that feel

like you and me *

* Heartbreak anniversary

* Ohh

Whoo!

* Do you ever, do you ever

* Do you ever think of me?

[ Cheers and applause ]

Whoo!

Yes. Yes. Yes.

All four coaches.

[ Laughs ]

Yes!

Four-chair turn!

[ Cheers and applause continue ]

[ Laughs ]

Hello! Welcome to "The Voice."

What is your name?

I'm Aaron Hines.

I'm from San Antonio, Texas.

Yes!

I knew Kelly was

gonna scream.

Yeah. [ Chuckles ]

[ Screams ]

I love your voice.

You just sounded like you knew

what you wanted to do

with the song.

You went out there

and executed it beautifully.

So I got to tell you this,

I can't tell you

how many times I've sang

"All of Me" at, like, weddings.

Oh!

Oh, no!

Sing a little bit for us.

[ Laughs ]

[ Cheers and applause ]

Alright.

Yes!

* 'Cause all of me

* Loves all of you

* All your curves

and all your edges *

Let's -- Let's go.

Mm. This moment is crazy.

I'll let these

other coaches discuss

what they would have

to offer to you.

[ Laughter ]

I'm feeling very confident.

I promise I love you, too.

I love your voice.

It was very moving.

A lot of people feel like

you have to wail.

I think you did a really great

job of being, like,

sincere and intimate,

but also giving us big notes.

We'd work together well.

Obviously, I've navigated a

competition before, so, like...

Navigated.

I am your Magellan

for the show.

Thank you.

Thank you so much.

I almost hit my button as soon

as you opened your mouth

because your tone

stopped me dead in my tracks.

Wow.

I was very excited.

I loved the runs --

they were super clean.

I think

you should pick my team.

Yes! Hey!

Yeah. Thank you, wow.

Probably wondering why you

would choose the country guy

to -- to be your coach.

Okay.

Oh, this is where he plays

this part --

Oh, here goes.

"Oh, I don't know why

you'd pick little old me."

I don't know if you happened

to, uh, catch Season 20.

John: Ah!

Oh, my God.

I did. I did.

I don't know if I was

the obvious choice

for Cam, either...

Yeah.

...but that worked out

pretty well.

[ Laughter ]

Oh, my God.

And this is about you,

a-and I'm worried for you.

Okay.

Because Kelly has

a big connection to you,

I guess --

you're both from Texas.

That's the reason,

I guess, to choose her,

even though she abandoned

her home state years ago...

What?!

...and never returned again.

I have family in Texas!

What?!

That's even sadder,

isn't it?

[ Laughter ]

I mean,

the commute is rough.

I don't work there.

That was funny.

Two things

about John Legend.

[ Laughter ]

I think part

of the reason that

he has such a connection

with you

is because

he talks so damn loud.

Oh, my.

And you probably do feel it

in your chest.

I do it because

Blake can't hear.

Honest.

That's true.

Alright.

I do the same

for my father-in-law,

who's in his 80s...

and I do it for Blake.

The other thing -- he always has

is artists sing his songs

because he gets paid.

Congratulations. You made

a little extra money today.

And then that leaves us

with Ariana Grande...

Oh, yeah, here we go.

...who has never won

this show.

I've never lost, either.

[ Cheers and applause ]

She heard your voice and wanted

to push her button for you.

[ Chuckles ]

She just wasn't

confident enough in you.

That is not what I said.

[ Laughter ]

I, on the other hand,

pushed my button

the second I knew that

I wanted you on my team.

You were last!

The second I --

The second that I decided

that I wanted you on my team --

He was last.

Last. He was last.

He was last.

Once I make my decision,

I go with it.

Ohh.

If you choose me,

we can celebrate

in front of

the Blake's Win Cam.

It's a camera.

We all have cameras.

[ Laughter ]

If you pick Blake,

you get to take a photo

in a camera.

How does that help you survive

this game of singing?

It's so tasking

on your vocal chords...

Yes.

...and I just happen

to have this...

Oh, no.

Here we go.

...lunch box

filled with lozenges and teas

that will help you

prevent swelling of your --

the vocal cords.

And that's what

this is all about.

Thank you. Yes.

John: You got to pick somebody.

Who are you going to pick

as your coach?

[ Audience shouting ]

[ Dramatic music plays ]

[ Audience chanting "John" ]

I love this!

Turn it up!

Alright.

Who is he gonna pick?

Come on, man.

I pick...

[ Shouting continues ]

.

* This is "The Voice"

Daly: Welcome back to the final

night of the blind auditions.

Who are you going to pick

as your coach?

[ Audience shouting ]

Mnh!

I pick...

All right, who is he

gonna pick?

I'mma go with Kelly.

* How you like me now?

[ Screaming ] Oh, my God!

* How you like me now?

Oh, my God!

* How you like me now?

Oh!

Aaron --

I loved his voice so much.

I think it's really intimate.

His runs

are so pretty and fluid.

I was so shocked he picked me.

But he's San Antonio, Texas.

What up? Yeah.

[ Cheers and applause ]

Four-chair turn.

Just saying.

Yes, Kelly! Yes!

John: Aaron Hines is great.

I was really impressed by him,

thought I had a good chance,

but maybe

the Texas connection got him.

We were all surprised

you picked Kelly.

Yeah.

What about all the John Legend

songs at the weddings?

I felt like

she got me artistically,

so that was why.

And then there's Texas.

Yeah.

And then there's Texas.

That was such a fun

plot twist.

[ Chuckling ]

I did not see that coming.

Remember that time I won

the four-chair turn?!

Whoo! [ Laughs ]

[ Cheers and applause ]

Whoo!

Man:

Alright, studio audience,

please take a seat

in your chairs.

Me and you are almost finished,

little buddy.

I know!

You gonna be sad when

your team's full?

Yeah.

I have only one spot left.

I can't believe it.

I wasn't ready for this

to happen so quickly.

Man: Our next artist

is entering now.

Oh.

[ Harmonizing ]

* Ahhhh

* Ahhhh

* Ooooo

* Mmmmm

[ Cheers and applause ]

* Ain't got no tears

in my body *

* I ran out,

but, boy, I like it *

* I like it, I like it

* We're way too fly to partake

in all this hate *

* We out here vibin',

we're vibin' *

Whoo!

* We're vibin'

* Comin' out

Chelsea: * Even when

it's rainin' down *

* Can't stop now

* Can't stop

so shut your mouth *

* Shut your mouth

* And if you don't know,

then now you know it, babe *

* Know it, baby

* Right now,

I'm in a state of mind *

* I wanna be in, like,

all the time *

* Ain't got no tears

left to cry *

* So I'm pickin' it up,

pickin' it up *

* I'm lovin', I'm livin',

I'm pickin' it up *

* I just want you

to come with me *

* We're on another mentality

* Ain't got no tears

left to cry *

* So I'm pickin' it up,

pickin' it up *

* I'm lovin', I'm livin',

I'm pickin' it up *

* Yeah, we're turnin' it up

Whoo!

[ Cheers and applause ]

Hey! All right!

**

Whoo-hoo!

Oh, my God!

I think there's

an obvious reason here

why none of us

turned around, okay?

[ Laughter ]

This is the kindest thing

you all have ever done for me.

What is your group name?

Where are you from?

Tell me everything

about yourselves now.

We're KCK3, a sister trio

from Brandon, Mississippi.

Oh, my!

I guess this is

my good side.

Yes, let me sit right here.

This is my good side, too.

[ Laughter ]

Kyla: We're sisters.

My name is Kyla,

and I'm 19 years old.

Chelsea:

I'm Chelsea, and I'm 26.

Kaitlynn:

And I'm Kaitlynn, and I'm 17.

Together: And we're KCK3.

Kyla: It's just the first letter

of each of our names

and the fact that there's

three of us in the group.

It took a lot of thought,

but then it didn't

at the same time.

[ Laughter ]

[ Vocalizing ]

Kyla: So, we've always been

singing together

for as long as we can remember.

* Come on, let me see you shake

your tail feather *

Our grandfather

had a group with his brothers.

Our dad had a singing group

with his brothers and friends.

We're the third generation.

I close my eyes when I sing.

Kaitlynn does her hand thing --

she does her hand like this.

Yeah. She does that a lot.

And then Chelsea --

she's just, like, sass.

[ Laughs ]

Being the first sister trio on

"The Voice" means a lot to us.

Three girls

from Mississippi...

Yeah.

...made it to

"The Voice" stage.

That's -- That's huge.

It's crazy.

First of all, I got so excited

because I love harmonies.

I didn't even realize

it was my song at first,

and then three notes in,

I heard.

So I held back

'cause I wanted to make sure

that I wanted to hit it

because I loved your voices.

It was the run.

It was that run that went up

and she went "ba-doop."

* Vibin'

I was like, "Okay, I'm done.

I'm in."

[ Chuckles ]

You are the last of my slots

on my team.

Whoa!

You did it!

I'm excited

to pick songs together.

Yeah.

Thank you so much.

There are two reasons why

I didn't turn around --

there is the obvious.

I am completely tired

of just getting beaten up

by Ariana fans

that audition...

That is not true!

And then, two,

I already have a group,

I want to kind of leave

that lane for them.

But I think that you did

a really great job,

and I can't wait to see what you

do on the show.

Thank you.

Thank you. Thank you.

I just wanted

to leave the lane wide open

so you didn't have anything

to think about

but being with Ariana.

Congratulations

and welcome to "The Voice."

Thank you. Thank you.

Thank you.

What's up, Blake?

I have a trio,

so leaving that lane to them.

Who cares? You're gonna work

with Ariana Grande.

Oh.

Congratulations!

Thank you, thank you.

Thank you.

Oh, my God!

KCK3 -- I fell in love

with their voices.

Aaah!

I cannot wait to pick songs

with them.

Hey!

I'm so excited!

I love my team!

I think I have a very

interesting team, sonically.

They all have really

unique voices,

and I'm excited about

the female energy.

It's my first season,

and I'm excited to dig in

and help them perform

and to hopefully

take them to the end.

Watch out.

I'm ready for these battles.

* My

Oh, God! [ Laughs ]

[ Cheers and applause ]

* Team

[ Cheers and applause ]

* Is

-Whoo!

* Full

[ Cheers and applause ]

Whoo!

Hey!

Well played.

Your first team!

Yes!

Whoa!

[ Laughing ] Oh, my God,

that was awesome!

Oh, twisting the knife

a little bit.

Oh, I'm sorry.

No, that's my favorite GIF

this season.

Oh, wow.

[ Laughs ]

[ Laughter ]

**

Hey, that's your first team,

Ariana!

It's my first! Yeah!

It's especially awesome 'cause

you did it before Blake did

and then dropped the mic

in front of him.

[ Laughs ]

Blake: I only have one spot

left on my team,

and I'm just waiting for that

perfect artist to fill it up.

I don't know

if you realize this,

but those two

are also competition.

It's more fun

to pick on you.

I agree.

I got it coming.

Daly: Still to come...

* Said you want a good time

Hey!

Damn!

Daly:

With only three spots left,

it's a fight to the finish.

I see you being able

to make it to the finale.

He said the word "finale."

Quit helping him down there.

I was gonna pick a side, but

I won't even start. Never mind.

Oh, thank God, because

she's never picked my side.

Can I just have

one extra person, please?

Let's bring back

an old favorite!

My...

...team...

...is...

...full!

Our teams are full!

They're full!

Daly: And later...

Both: * Giving him something

he can feel *

Daly: ...a sneak peek

at next week's epic battles.

.

* This is "The Voice"

Daly: Welcome back to

the blind auditions

at Universal Studios Hollywood.

All right, Ms. Clarkson.

I'm going in on this one.

Oh, my God.

Whoo!

Blake, Kelly, and I

have one spot left.

I am so looking forward

to filling up my team.

I'm looking for an artist

that really connects.

I'm gonna fill up Team Legend,

and it's gonna be great.

Alright,

send us somebody good.

* I'm going to Montana to spend

the winter *

Tommy:

Bigfork, Montana, is one of my

favorite places on the planet.

* I hear the snows are deep

up there *

There's so much to do here...

...so many rivers

to go explore...

* And the winds are cold

...and fish to be caught,

trails to hike.

* Way out there,

the blues will never find me *

You know, those places --

just gorgeous here

and never ending exploration.

I'm Tommy Edwards,

I'm 27 years old,

and I'm from Bigfork, Montana.

**

Living in Montana,

I think it's a requirement

to be a fly fisherman.

I like to get out

on the water

and just be alone in my head

and see if you can't trick

a fish into biting

a piece of plastic.

[ Laughs ]

I met my wife

almost nine years ago now.

We have two amazing, beautiful

young daughters.

Tommy as a father --

he's very encouraging,

very supportive.

I like to do bubbles

with you, too, Lenny.

[ Laughter ]

Growing up, my dad

was a business banker,

but on the weekends, we'd go

jump onstage with his rock band,

and I've always

just wanted to perform.

The last 9, 10 years,

I've made my living

out of something I love doing.

In all the different bands

that I play in,

my father and I

sing in all of them together.

People ask where I learned to

sing, and my only answer is him.

Tommy Sr.: I'm incredibly proud

of the work he's put in,

standing up on the stage

and looking at him do

what he was born to do --

I just don't know how it gets

any better than that.

**

Tommy: You know, all I know is

the Montana music scene,

and now I get a chance to go

and do it

on one of the biggest stages

I can imagine.

Man: Here we go.

John: I need somebody.

What are you waiting for?

Make me turn.

[ Laughs ]

Tommy:

I know the teams are starting

to fill up pretty quick,

but I'm ready to kill it.

[ Cheering ]

You can do it!

[ Laughs ]

**

* Now that she's back

in the atmosphere *

* With drops of Jupiter

in her hair *

* Hey, hey, yeah

[ Humming softly ]

* She acts like summer

and walks like rain *

* Reminds me that

there's time to change *

* Hey, hey

I like that.

* Now that she's back

in the atmosphere *

* I'm afraid that

she might think of me as *

* Plain ol' Jane

told a story about a man *

* Who is too afraid to fly

and so he never did land *

* But tell me

[ Cheers and applause ]

* Did the wind

sweep you off your feet? *

* Did you finally

get the chance *

* To dance along

the light of day *

* Head back to the Milky Way?

Come on, Kelly!

* And tell me,

did Venus blow your mind? *

* Was it everything

you wanted to find *

* And did you miss me while

you were looking for yourself? *

* Na, na, na, na

* Na na na na na na now

* Did ya?

* Did you finally get

the chance *

No!

* To dance along

the light of day *

* Are you lonely

* Looking for yourself

* Out there

[ Cheers and applause ]

**

Yeah!

[ Cheering ]

Two chairs.

That's good right now.

He ripped off

his mic pack!

[ Laughs ]

What's your name?

Where are you from?

My name is Tommy Edwards.

I've been in Bigfork, Montana,

for the last 10 years.

Oh, wow!

Montana.

My team's filling up,

and I was waiting

to hear

just a little bit more range.

That's the only reason

I didn't turn around,

but congratulations.

Thank you so much, Kelly.

Blake:

Man, I love your voice.

What I was hearing

was The Black Crowes.

I'll take that

all day, every day.

You sound like a straight-up

rock guy to me,

and I love that you're just

getting lost in the music.

And that's what it's going to

take to even exist on this show

for a little while,

much less make it to the finale.

You just need to be

on the right team -- Blake.

And I've had a lot of success

with rock artists,

and I'd love

to do that again.

Let's do it, man.

Come on, Tommy!

Let's do this, Tommy!

Thank you, brother.

Come on, Tommy, boy!

"Tommy Boy."

Good movie.

Tommy, I -- my team is full,

but I just wanted to say

I loved the performance.

I love that song. I loved

your interpretation of it.

You're in great hands

either way.

[ Clears throat ]

Oh, I was going to pick a side,

but I won't even start.

Never mind.

Oh. Oh, thank God,

because she's never picked

my side, so...

Welcome to "The Voice."

Ah, thank you.

Thank you. Thank you.

[ Cheers and applause ]

You really know how to, like,

make your presence felt.

And it's not always easy

with rock music.

You have power.

You have range.

You have that electricity

that you need.

Our teams are all close

to filling up.

But I would love for you

to be a member of Team Legend.

Thank you so much, John.

All right, well, Tommy,

who do you pick as your coach?

Come on, Tommy!

Come on!

Come on my team!

Come on, Tommy!

Come on!

Come on!

Let's do this!

Come on!

He's looking at Blake.

* I wanna be somebody

to someone *

Pick Blake.

Yeah!

* Someone to you

Yes!

* Someone to you

[ Laughing ] Yes!

Blake:

Thank God for Tommy.

* Someone to you

He's got a cool voice that

sounds like '90s rock to me.

* Someone to you

He's the perfect guy

to wrap up

my Season 21 blind auditions

and -- and Team Blake

is full now.

Thank you, Tommy.

We gotta go back

in front of the camera.

Yeah!

Tommy rocks!

I'm on Blake's. I'm on Blake's.

He rocks! Whoo!

I don't know

that I've ever had a team

that I have more confidence in.

My team's filled

with all different genres.

I got country,

a singer-songwriter.

I have rock, pop, soul --

I have everything.

Now I just can't wait

to get to work

with my artists in the battles.

* Someone to you

Hey, hey, hey, hey!

Hey, hey!

Hey, hey, hey, hey!

My team is full!

Oh, yes!

[ Cheers and applause ]

Blake, Blake, Blake, Blake,

Blake, Blake, Blake, Blake!

Way to go.

Whoo!

Doesn't work!

It doesn't work anymore.

All right, Kelly Clarkson,

it's just me and you, sis.

* Just you and I

You've got quite the team there,

my old man.

Old man?!

Yeah.

.

* This is "The Voice"

Daly: Welcome back to

the blind auditions.

Hey, when you're

a grandparent someday,

are you gonna have

your kids call you "Grandy"?

Grandy?

Come on. That's great.

Grammy Grandy Grampy.

Grandy Grande.

**

This is literally unreal.

What?! Oh, my God!

I can't -- like,

are you kidding me?!

You look good!

[ Vocalizing ]

My name is Shadale, and I'm from

Douglasville, Georgia.

Growing up, I always wanted

to record music,

so I would

go into the bathroom

and pretend like

I was in the studio.

Oh, I've been in music

all the way from elementary

to high school.

I sang in church.

I've been in musical theater.

Right after high school,

I was invited to travel

with this group

called The Gospel People,

so I've been to Malaysia,

Russia, Singapore.

We've performed everywhere.

I mean, I can say "thank you"

in different languages now.

Shukran.

Kam-sa-ham-ni-da.

Xiè xi.

Oh! Danke.[ Laughs ]

Duh!

As I was traveling

around the world, I was dating,

and right in the middle

of everything, I got pregnant.

It wasn't something

that I planned.

I knew what I had to do,

and that was to

take care of my child.

I was a single mom, and I --

I didn't have many options.

[ Chuckles ]

My skill set is limited

because all I've done was music.

That was really rocky.

But eventually

I found my balance

and do corporate bands

on the weekend.

We sing for weddings,

businesses,

and I do food delivery servicing

during the week

so I can take her with me

sometimes.

Ah, ah!

Can I deliver the food?

Yes!

Put your seatbelt on.

Okay.

If I see one of those chairs

turn for me,

I know my daughter --

she's going to be screaming

from the top of her lungs.

Hi, Jujube! Hi!

[ Laughter ]

Oh, I know!

Shadale is an awesome mom.

She's there

reading to her.

Ah!

She spends quality time

with her daughter.

Oh, good job!

I really love you so much.

I wish you'd come home.

Oh, thank you. Oh!

You got this.

Oh!

You got this, Mommy.

Oh, thank you, baby!

[ Chuckle]

It's on, John.

It's on, Ms. Clarkson.

Shadale: I know

the teams are filling up,

but all I got to do

is get on that stage

and show the coaches

what I have to offer.

[ Cheers and applause ]

Go!

* Ohhhh

* I got a condo in Manhattan

* You and your all invited

[ Laughs ]

* That's what I like, yeah

* Ohhh oooo

[ Cheers and applause ]

Yeah!

Yeah!

Yes!

[ Cheering ]

Whoo!

Hello.

Who are you?

[ Laughs ]

I'm Shadale.

I currently live

in Douglasville, Georgia.

Sadly, my team is full and I

can't get this button to work,

even though you would be the one

that I'd be goin',

"Can I just have

one extra person, please?"

Oh! [ Laughs ]

Ariana was looking

over here at me, like,

"Can you believe this?"

Her team is full, too,

so you've got the equivalent

of a four-chair turn, though.

[ Cheers and applause ]

Thank you.

[ Cheering ]

Whoo!

What an amazing

vocal technician you are.

You're sustaining pure gorgeous

with vibrato notes

were some of

my favorite parts.

So, welcome to the show.

You're in great hands.

Thank you. Thank you.

[ Chuckles ]

Not only were you able

to sing your butt off,

but you came up here

and put on a show,

and it was so much fun.

It energized this place.

I feel bad they couldn't turn

for you.

So jealous.

What did you do?!

Not -- Not that bad because

I want you on Team Legend.

I see you being able to make it

to the finale on this show.

Whoa.

Quit helping him down there!

He said the word "finale."

He don't need help.

He's John Legend.

Okay, I don't know

if you remember, like,

before we were all

turned around, the

music hadn't started,

and I, like, was losing

my mind -- I was screaming.

'Cause Jesus told me.

You brought Jesus into this?!

I never leave Jesus out, John.

Oh, okay, okay, okay. Ohh!

I felt like I was watching,

like, a mix of

Bruno Mars with Beyoncé.

Sassy and confident, but it was

also, like, kind of witty.

I think you're going to be fun

as hell to watch on this show.

It's time.

Who do you pick as your coach?

[ Dramatic music plays ]

[ Audience shouting ]

Yes! Yes!

I pick...

Team John.

Yes!

Yes! Yes!

My team is full!

Shadale --

what a star she is.

Oh, my God!

Welcome to Team Legend!

She has range,

the ability to be flexible

and do all kinds of cool runs.

I'm so happy!

We're gonna have

a lot of fun together.

I can't wait to work with you.

Thank you!

[ Cheers and applause ]

Oh, here we go.

Ladies and gentlemen,

my team is full!

Let's bring back

an old favorite.

**

* Know I had to

fight for you *

[ Laughs ]

* I put it all

on the line for you *

* Welcome to Team Legend

* Welcome to Team Legend

* Welcome to Team Legend

* Welcome to Team Legend

* My team took a little longer

* But my team is

getting stronger *

* You made your choice, now

let's go and win "The Voice" *

* Welcome to Team Legend

Team Legend is full!

[ Cheers and applause ]

Thank you!

I need to dance in front of

the Win Cam, too.

I love my team.

I have some great soul singers,

and I have some pop,

some Broadway style --

so many of them

are charismatic and dynamic.

Just the range --

I think I'm gonna have

so much fun with my team.

.

* This is "The Voice"

Daly:

Welcome back to "The Voice."

**

I'm Joe McGuinness,

I'm 43 years old,

and I am a stop-motion animator.

[ Chuckles ]

[ Projector whirring ]

[ Eerie music plays ]

[ Thunder crashes ]

[ Mid-tempo music plays ]

The main part of my house

is very normal,

and then you open

my stop-motion set,

and it looks like

a weird little kid lives here.

Stop-motion is very tedious.

You end up with a clip

that you've spent years on

that may be 12 seconds long.

[ Laughs ]

Whether it's stop-motion

or music,

I always feel like

I have something to learn.

**

I play a lot of instruments.

**

Anything with horns,

anything with strings.

The funny thing is,

with my Scottish heritage,

the only instrument I can't play

is the bagpipes.

[ Chuckles ]

[ Bagpipes playing ]

I grew up in

a big musical family.

My grandfather played

Scottish harmonica in a pub

every day of his life.

He was very stereotypical

Scottish.

I couldn't understand

most of what he said.

But he loved to play the harp.

My dad played guitar.

I started my first band

around 15

and left school in 11th grade

to hit the road.

So I'd play

anywhere they would give me

a little money

and some food.

Music is a part of my soul.

My wife has supported me

from Day One.

She's done everything

to make sure

that I can continue

making music.

Here comes...

Yay!

Joe: I want my kids to see

that you can be successful

doing what you love,

especially at my age.

This is so cool.

[ Breathes sharply ]

**

* I've got to run

to keep from hidin' *

* And I'm bound

to keep on ridin' *

* And I've got

one more silver dollar *

* But I'm not gonna let 'em

catch me, no *

* Not gonna let 'em catch

the midnight rider *

* I don't own

the clothes I'm wearing *

* And the road

goes on forever *

* And I've got one more

silver dollar *

* But I'm not gonna let 'em

catch me, no *

* Not gonna let 'em catch

the midnight rider *

* I said I'm not gonna let 'em

catch me, no *

* Not gonna let 'em catch

the midnight rider *

[ Cheers and applause ]

Oh!

**

Wow.

Hey, man, what's your name?

My name is Joe McGuinness.

I love any kind

of just big, soulful,

rock-and-roll vibe voice.

But it was more kind of on 11

the whole time,

which is awesome

that you have 11.

Not everybody even has that.

Thank you.

I would be one of those people

drinking and, like, singing

at the top of my lungs

with you at the bar.

Yeah, me and Kelly are coming to

your next gig.

Yeah.

[ Laughter ]

Joe, if it's all kind of,

"Unh!"

but you don't hear

the finer points,

then we can't be sure

we can do

all the things

you need to do

to advance

in this competition, okay?

Thank you very much.

I appreciate it.

Yes!

Good job.

Thank you.

Yeah, good job.

**

We feel bad.

I don't like that feeling.

At this point, I've filled up

my team quite a bit,

and I'm wanting to round it out

with somebody

I really feel confident in.

My team

is incredible this year.

This is the most diverse

because I have duos, trios,

crooners, R&B.

I have pop, country,

singer-songwriter.

I literally have

every kind of singer on my team.

So I'm really just reserving

this last spot

for somebody I really feel

is really passionate

in creating this opportunity.

I'm not going to turn

unless I absolutely feel moved.

[ Chuckling ] Come here!

I'm Parker McKay,

I'm 29 years old,

and I live

in Nashville, Tennessee.

My whole life has centered

around music,

musical theater, honors choir.

Any time I could get my hands

on a microphone,

you bet it was in my hand.

I was an only child, and my mom

and I were fiercely close.

It seemed like

we were always in the car,

just listening to music.

My mom drove me

to my first ever audition

when I was 17 years old

and was just a beacon

of encouragement and love.

At 23, I moved to Nashville,

and I thought,

"Everyone's doing country here.

I should do that, too."

And over time,

I just realized that

that wasn't really

where I wanted to go,

but I learned so much

from country songwriting

and was able to parlay that

into pop songwriting.

I was growing, doing videos,

and putting music out,

which was

the coolest thing ever.

**

But then, five years ago,

my mom started

acting drastically different

and just becoming not my mom.

And we didn't really understand

what was going on.

She had what's called

"frontotemporal dementia,"

and it affects your behavioral

skills, short-term memory.

Her fire was just...

dwindling.

**

[ Voice breaking ]

And we didn't know why

for a really long time,

which is really hard.

**

We just wanted to help her

get better,

and we tried so many things

over years and...

Was no longer possible to really

have a conversation with her.

She wasn't really present,

except for when I would sing

to her --

her eyebrows would lift.

And I sat her down. I said,

"Mom, I have some news for you.

I'm gonna be on 'The Voice.'"

And she went...

Are you excited?

This is something to

look forward to, right?

I'm excited.

[ Laughs ]

Me too.

**

My mom passed

right before I left,

on the day before her birthday.

[ Crying ]

And I was so lucky because...

both my dad and I

were able to be there

with her right by her side,

holding her hand

until she took her last breath.

You know, she saw me into

the world and I saw her out.

I just want to tell you

to break a leg

while you're out there.

Your mom --

she's looking down on us.

And I think it's time that

you showed the world and her

how awesome you can be.

[ Exhales sharply ]

She gave me my love of music

and she gave me the courage,

and I can't believe...

[ Breathes sharply ]

...that I have to do this part

without her.

I'm just ready

to make her proud.

.

* This is "The Voice"

Daly: Welcome back to the final

night of blind auditions.

I hate the pressure

of being last.

Oh, it's fun.

Hate it.

Mom's watching.

**

* We should take this

back to my place *

* That's what she said

right to my face *

* 'Cause I want you bad

* Yeah, I want you, baby

* I've been thinking 'bout it

all day, uh *

* And I hope you feel

Okay.

* The same way

* 'Cause I want you bad

* Yeah, I want you, baby

* Slow, slow hands

* Like sweat dripping down

* Our dirty laundry

* No, no chance

* That I'm leaving here

without you on me *

* I, I know

* Yeah, I already know

* That there ain't no stopping

* Your plans and those

slow hands *

* Fingertips putting on a show

* Can't you tell that I want

you, baby? *

* Slow

Yeah!

* Slow hands

* Like sweat dripping down

Hey!

* Our dirty laundry

Alright.

* No chance

* That I'm leaving here

without you on me *

* I know

* Yeah, I already know that

there ain't no stopping *

* Your plans and those

slow hands *

**

* Oooo, slow hands

Alright!

Yeah!

[ Cheers and applause ]

Whoo!

[ Cheers and applause continue ]

Yes!

Welcome to "The Voice."

What's your name,

and where are you from?

I'm so emotional!

I'm sorry.

I am Parker McKay.

I live in Nashville.

Oh!

All three of us have

a completely full team, okay?

I was your only option.

I'm thrilled.

Yes!

It was a really fun

performance.

I loved when you started to soar

in those high notes.

It was really compelling.

And congratulations.

I'm so happy for you.

Thank you so much.

Thank you.

[ Cheers and applause ]

Kelly: First of all,

I love that song

'cause it's kind of like

in between

country and soul

and blues.

Yeah, I-I love that.

I did country for a while,

but, um,

I started to strip that away

when I realized

it wasn't truly who I was.

Hell, yeah.

Well, welcome to

the obvious team for you.

Whoo! [ Laughs ]

Welcome to "The Voice,"

Parker!

* And you're the sky

* Oh, oh

Yeah!

I love your outfit.

You are so cute.

You're so cute.

I lost my mom...

Oh, my God,

I'm so sorry!

So I just wanted to tell you --

I'm just really grateful

for the show.

Thank you.

Oh, man! Aw!

In the blinds,

we don't get the whole story,

but I was really glad that I was

moved enough to turn around

'cause sometimes, in life,

when it rains, it pours.

You just need a break, you know,

in the storm,

and I'm really glad

that she's on my team.

I'm not going to cry.

**

Parker -- she's got

beautiful head voice,

an outstanding chest voice.

I'm very excited that Parker was

the last one to fill up my team.

Here it comes.

My team is full!

* And you're the sky

Let's celebrate with her.

* Oh, oh

Come on down here.

* And you're the sky

Our teams are full!

* Oh, oh

Our teams are full!

They're full!

* I'm the satellite

* Oh, oh

* And you're the sky

[ Chuckling ] Oh, my God.

* Oh, oh

Yes!

We won Miss America!

* And you're the sky

[ Cheers and applause ]

Whoo-hoo!

* If I ever

lose my faith *

Yes!

* Hey, hey

The adviser

for Team Legend...

[ Chuckling ] What?

Oh, my God!

...Camila Cabello.

Jason Aldean, everybody!

Meet Dierks Bentley.

This is Kristin Chenoweth.

Camila: I think you should keep

digging into that, like...

* Oh, yeah

This is, like,

expert-level coaching.

Mm-hmm.

I can't believe

we just sang our song for her.

I know, dude.

Have a moment

at the end.

[ Vocalizing ]

This is the genius

that is Ariana.

[ Laughter ]

* Yeah

Wow!

Oh, my God!

I'm not sure what just happened

on the stage,

but I'm gonna have to

watch this on TV

and, like, put it in slow motion

to try to take it all in.

Yeah.

Process.

Daly: Oh, my God!

Three steals and a Save!

I was first!

Yeah!

That is a "Voice" first!

Oh!

[ Cheers and applause ]
