"The Voice" is the first
music opportunity I've ever had.

The fact that I'm able
to do this

on such a big platform
for my first time is amazing.

My name is Olivia Reyes,
I'm 19 years old,

and I'm from Teaneck,
New Jersey.

I'm half Dominican and
I'm half Puerto Rican,

so culture is definitely
very big in my family.

There's music playing
all the time in my house.

But when I was younger,
I never really pursued music

unless it was in my shower...
That was my stage.

I performed in the shower
like no other.

One of my best friends,
Arealyah,

she really encouraged me,

and her and I
would go sing together.

But I was too shy
to sing in public.

Without me knowing it,
my friends signed me up

for a "Voice" casting audition.

I was shaking.

walking circles around my house,

like, pacing.

Season 2 of "The Voice."

When I was coming out here,
he said, "Be yourself

and just absorb as much
as you possibly can."

I've been doing music
for over four decades, man.

My whole family sang.

We started as The Mason Brothers

singing R&B music in 1987.

The song "Pour It On"
ended up landing

at #2... Billboard charts, man.

Blew my mind.

But then there was
a lot of confusion

with the record label,

and they dropped us
from the label.

It was devastating
being without music.

Raising my kids
became everything to me.

When I look back now,

it was almost like divine

that that door closed.

My name's Sam Stacy.
I'm from Lincoln, Nebraska.

This is exciting, guys.

In college,
I got my degree in economics,

and I worked at a bank.

On a typical day at the bank,

I would be there about 8:00.

I'd have my tie
and my collared shirt.

While I was doing that,

I was still gigging
a few times a week.

And it eventually came
to the point

where those gigs were adding up
to more money than the job.

And I thought, "Why don't I just
move to a place

where I can do this full time?"

Coming to Los Angeles
from Lincoln definitely

was a culture shock.

I found, like, a group of people

within the open mic community
that were all really genuine.

So I live in a house
with a few other musicians.

We have a studio in the garage,

and that's been
really, really nice.

I play all sorts of places
three to five times a week,

a winery here, a bar here,
a restaurant here.

I'm ready to really see
where my career can go.

I just can't be more grateful.

You have such a warmth
to your voice.

The entire time, I kept going,

"I just want to hear
some more range."

I was wanting you to go...

performances from age 3 to now.

There's never gonna be a day

When I was about 2,
my biological father left.

After that, it was just me,

Being raised

It's made me know my worth

always focused on music.

About a year ago,
my husband and I

both had career opportunities

for seven months.

and encouraged me to play gigs.

with French artists

and playing underground shows

After gigging

With nine siblings,

your own way of being unique.

And for me, that was creativity
and music and self-expression.

My name's Van Andrew,
I'm 29 years old,

I grew up in Cooper, Texas,

but I'm currently living
in Nashville, Tennessee.

I moved to Nashville in March
to pursue music more seriously.

I've been recording music
that comes from the heart.

Singer-songwriter kind of
meets indie rock.

Two days after
I got to Nashville,

a tornado hit,
and two weeks later, COVID hit.

This whole thing has kind of
forced me to stay at home

and write and focus
on getting better at my work.

The company I work for,
Woods Coffee,

allow me to work remotely,
and I do all their merchandising

and kind of run
the art department.

I can remember sitting on
the couch watching "The Voice"

and being like, "Man, I wonder
if I could do that."

As a kid, I definitely dreamed

of singing on stages like this.

And it's kind of surreal
to be here, honestly.

Seeing my dreams come true.

So just to get a chair turn
would be amazing.

6:30 in the morning

But when I was around
like 7 years old,

we got in a car accident.

My mom broke her leg,
and she got prescribed

some pills that are illegal now.

She got addicted to opioids,

and my mom was a completely
different person after that.

It was hard every single day.

I had to step up,
and 10 years old,

I'm trying to figure out
their bills

and getting 24-hour notices
to leave houses.

imagined...

...our future.

I honestly think I can make it
through anything after all that.

Music was my escape.

At a very young age,

I fell in love
with country music.

And I'm a sappy,
little sensitive guy, I guess.

Out of high school,
my buddies would sign me up

for these karaoke contests,

and I'd win them.

Got a band together, and we
started gigging out of town

and opened up

I'm on one of the biggest stages
that I'll ever stand on.
