Ryan and Seth return to Newport and have their first day back at Harbor High School. Seth runs into Summer, who will not forgive him for running way and not calling her, and she shows off her new boyfriend Zach; a WASP-version of Seth whom they first meet at Seth's new comic book club. Ryan catches Marissa in a clinch and her tryst with the new gardener D.J. Meanwhile, Caleb calls upon Sandy for help when he's arrested for bribery charges. Sandy and Kirsten deal with their re-modelers whom are like a wrecking crew. Also, Hailey decides to leave town for a job offer in Japan and has an emotional goodbye with Jimmy, now living aboard a sailboat in the Newport marina.
