The Amazing Race Australia (2011–…): Season 6, Episode 16 - Leg 16 (Belize - Mexico) - full transcript

It's sink or swim in Mexico's coastal city of Campeche, where teams must eat edible insect cuisine, shoot down pinatas, and make rope out of henequen plants before a spiritual dip in a local sinkhole.

Previously on
The Amazing Race Australia...

Surrounded by crystal-clear
Caribbean waters...

Dead ahead.

...Heath and Toni celebrated
two in a row...

Heath and Toni, you're
the first team to check in.

Yes! That's frickin' awesome!

...while the sun set...

Come on, babe.

...on Jodie and Claire.

OK.
You are eliminated.

I definitely wouldn't have done it
with anyone else, that's for sure.

We've done it for
the middle-aged women.

You can do it, ladies!
Yeah, absolutely.

Tonight, on the vibrant streets
of Mexico,

The Amazing Race Australia's
biggest prize ever...

Far out.

...is so close...

...teams can almost taste it.

It's disgusting.

And with so much on the line...

It looks so hard.

...it's time...

...to sink...

...or swim.

"Route Info."

"Make your way to
the border of Belize..."

"...and cross over into Mexico"!

Let's go.
Yes, let's go!

Mexico!

Teams will travel eight hours by bus

from Belize
across the Mexican border

and onwards to Campeche

on the Gulf Coast.

Mexico, officially known as
the United Mexican States,

of which there are 31.

This country has something
for everyone.

Whether it's gorging yourself
on tacos and tequila

while taking in the sights...

...soaking in the history
of ancient civilisations

or just chillin' on
the crystal-clear beaches.

And the jewel in its crown
is Campeche...

...located on the Yucatan Peninsula.

Full of Mayan and European history,

the ancient ruins of Calakmul

have one of Mexico's
largest pyramids

dating back to 600BC.

This 17th-century town's
old fortress-style walls

were built to keep pirates out.

It's known as the Rainbow City,

and it's the location for the 16th
leg of The Amazing Race Australia.

Get me a sombrero ASAP.

Hola!

In this challenge, our teams
have gotta come down to

the Salon Rincon Colonial
and test out the local specialties.

Now, every country's got
its weird dishes

and Mexico is right up there,
trust me.

Essentially, one member
from each team will be the taster

and one will become the server.

The taster will be blindfolded.

The server will serve them
four dishes -

crickets, cockroach, tarantula
and a scorpion.

Once they correctly
identify all four,

they'll receive their next clue.

Teams that guess incorrectly

will each have to down
one of these bad-boy chillis.

Just like this.

Oh!

Alright.

That chilli, bro. Oh, my God.

Oh, my God.

Yeah. Water.

What did I eat? The scorpion?

Teams are currently travelling
on two buses,

and the order they arrive depends on
the 'loco' Mexican traffic.

Go, guys.

There.

Here, Tones.

After an 8-hour bus journey,
we rocked up there first.

Watch out for your ankles.
I will.

Whoo!
Yew!

Am I supposed
to be on this side?

OK. The menu.

Is that OK?
Yep.

So you've got hissing cockroach,

tarantula,

crickets...

- ...and desert scorpion.
- Oh, my God.

Cockroach, tarantula...
Number one...

Crickets, scorpion.
Crickets, scorpion.

I'm just gonna put my hand out
like you're a dog.

- Is there a bucket?
- That's crickets.

Toni!

Is it alive? Oh.
No.

If you go down,
I've got it down here.

I've got it down. Yep.

I've just got my hand here.

Oh, yuck.

There we go. Crunchy, crunchy.

Oh, how many are there?
Yeah, darlin', just...

Oh, my God!
I'm sorry.

Come on.

Oh, my God, Toni, don't put all of
them in there. It'll make it worse.

Eating challenges are the worst.

Every single time I've done
an eating challenge,

I've gone and freaked out.

Toni.
OK.

Please.
OK.

This is disgusting.
It smells nice.

It smells like there's
something on it. Like chilli?

That's it, babe. That's it,
babe. Keep going, keep going.

He had to get them right
because if he didn't get them right,

we would both have to
share a chilli.

That's crickets.

Crickets.
Yes.

Cockroach, tarantula...

The first one is cockroach.

The first one was wrong.
The first one was wrong.

OK, so we need to have a chilli each.
Yep.

Sorry.

First one was crickets.

Yes!

Yes, yes, yes.

It was peak hour.

That whole area was slammed,
bumper to bumper.

- But we got there eventually.
- Yep.

OK, let's go. Let's just go down.

Let's go, G.

Let's go!

Let's get that food down.

Babe, come round this way.
Oh, other way.

Sorry. Oh, sorry,
you're blindfolded.

Far out.

Is it all cooked?
Yes.

Is it all dead?
Yeah, it is all dead.

Oh...

Sorry! Spit it out, then.

I don't wanna eat 'em all.
Just shove 'em down.

They taste like French fries!

It's a long one. Think about it.

Small bites, babe.

Small bites on the side.

OK, go.

Oh! Oh, my God.
Why does it go so deep?

Cockroach, tarantula,
crickets, scorpion.

Scorpion.
Yeah.

Is that the scorpion?

Oh, that was hot.

Desert scorpion.
Desert scorpion.

These are definitely crickets.

Crickets.
Yep.

Crickets.

Too big to be a cockroach
so I'm gonna go crickets.

Yes. Good job.

The next one?

Hold on.

Ahh! I can't!

Ahh!

It's a tarantula, I know it is!

Tarantula.
Yes!

Tarantula?

Tarantula, but you haven't
finished it, babe.

You haven't finished it.

Stop screaming.

Wow, what is this?

The last one's a cockroach.
Yep.

He saved the worst for last.
The hissing cockroach.

And that had stuffing in it.
That had something on the back.

Babe, you got this. You got this.

Just munch it up, munch it up.

You've got it, you've got it,
you've got it.

- Where's the bucket?
- You've gotta swallow.

You bit into it and there was,
like...

I've seen the innards.
Like, inner gut...pus.

...bucket.

You've got this. You've got this.

I've done it!
You did it. You did it.

Thank you! Thank you.

Well done, babe. You smashed it.

"Route Info.

"Make your way on foot
to the Parque San Roman.

"Find the marked candy
inside the pinatas

"to receive your next clue."

In this challenge, our teams must
come down to Parque San Roman

and smash some pinatas.

Now, the original pinata

had seven sides, just like a star,

to represent the seven deadly sins.

You've got lust, greed, envy, sloth,

wrath, gluttony and pride.

And the bright colours represent the
temptation to fall into these things.

Firstly, our teams will fire balls
out of the catapult

at the two pinatas in front of them
just like this.

Oh.

Now, once they've hit both pinatas,

they must smash them open
with a stick

to find the one specially marked
lolly wrapper.

There's only one between them.

Once they do that,
they'll find their next clue.

It's like my son's birthday party!

I still can't break the pinata!

I need to do more weights.

Thank you, kind sir.
That was disgusting.

Yes! Thank you! Thank you.

Oh, thank you.
You did well.

Thank you. Let's go.

"Make your way on foot
to Parque San Roman."

"Find the marked candy
inside the pinatas

"to receive your next clue."

Let's go.

Oh, my God, that cockroach
was disgusting!

I felt the guts!

It was just the thought of it
being a cockroach.

Did you guys eat a chilli?
No.

No, we didn't.
We got a chilli.

Thank God.
Was it hot?

Yeah, pretty hot.
It was burning.

OK.

Wow, is that a...

I know you've had...

Is that a tarantula?
Yep.

Yep.
You can do it. You can do it.

A tarantula.
Yes! Good.

You're doing so good.

Second-last mouthful.

Oh...
Is there a vomit bucket?

What's that one?

Mmm...tarantula.
Good girl.

Cockroach?

Give me the chilli.

Come on, hon, eat your chilli fast.
I've swallowed mine.

Damn, Jamus, you're a machine.

This is your second-last mouthful.
Second-last mouthful.

Oh!

Keep going, baby girl. You got it.

You got it, you got it.
No tears for us.

Just scoff it down.

Babe, you are great at this, OK?
That's it.

There's something that I ate
after that that was really nice.

Cockroach.
You liked the cockroach?

It tasted like crackling.

Is that the other teams?

Let's go!

There's the marker there. Straight.

I'm here.
Keep going.

Trying to find a marker.

How you going, babe?
Do you want more water?

Nuh.

They're right there.

Some of them have two.

Oh, they all have two. Huh!

"...on two pinatas, one at a time.

"Both pinatas drop down
on the line."

We have to use a...

Catapult. Slingshot thingy.
Catapult.

With balls to knock the pinata off
onto a string.

And once it's on the string,
we can whack it down with sticks.

Ah, damn.

Ah, shit.

Oh!

Gotta angle it, babe.
I am angling it.

How... It's not coming off.

We've hit it, like, 10 times.

Drop, man!

One sec. Let's keep going.

You're kidding.
You're kidding me!

Don't cry. It's not chilli.
Think that - it's not chilli.

You got this, babe.

Don't listen to what's going on
around you. Just listen to me.

Good work, hon.
What do you think it is?

Hissing cockroach?
Uh-huh.

Check, please.

Oh, my God.

It's too much!
We're gonna be last ones here.

Yeah! Oh, my God!

Get it down, babe,
and then we're outta here.

The hissing cockroach.
Correct.

Check, please.

Delicious. Thank you!

OK, so it's hissing cockroach.
Yep.

Just try to breathe, baby.

Thank you so much! Thank you!

Open your mouth, please.

Again.
OK.

Very happy.

Thank you very much.

That was so bad.

And I'm still picking crickets
out of my teeth right now.

"Make your way on foot to
Parque San Roman. Find..."

"...the marked candy inside..."

"...the pinatas to receive
your next clue."

Let's go!

Here.

Jesus!

Oh, come on!
Nice.

That's tearing it open now.

Eeya!

"Once you've found
the marked wrapper,

"take it to the judge to
receive your next clue."

Careful. Careful.

Oh, sorry, Heath.

Let's wait for the girls.
Wait for the girls.

Yep, let's go. 'Kath & Kim'.

Get the pace going a bit.
How'd youse go? Good?

We all need a race walk.

I can see the arrow!
Wait, there's a car.

Oh, we're here.

The other teams
are coming, guys.

Are you kidding?

Oh, go this way so you don't
get hit in the head.

Hi, guys.

Hey, Steph. Know what we're doing?
Yeah.

I couldn't believe it - we saw the
first three teams were still there.

And hardly any of them had dropped
for them on their lines, had they?

Yeah.

We've gotta hit the target.
These pinatas have to hit the floor.

I'm gonna pick up the balls, hon.

Can you do it while I'm doing it,
though?

No, because you might
hit me in the head.

You just keep going.

Come on!
Ooh, nice hit.

How many times?!

Yes!
Baby!

Come on! Get the other one! Grr!

I've definitely got
crickets in my teeth.

It is disgusting.

Oh, God. OK.

This is hard.

We've just gotta keep going.

Come on! That's like 10 shots in it.

Oh, good work, hon!

OK.

Pako, sorry, mate.

Catapults, not quite the usual
weapons that we're used to.

Ooh. I'm taking out the tree.

It did take a little while
to get used to and get your aim.

Oh, yes! Yes!
Let's go!

Hey! Hey!

Go hard, hon.

Hit 'em down, babe.
Yep.

Help me. Pick up these lollies.

There's a marked wrapper
and we gotta find it.

It was a great stress relief for us

to be able to drop those
pinatas down and whack them.

Search them as you go.
Yep.

We're looking... I got one here.
This looks like it.

That's it, babe. That's it.
One? One lolly?

One lolly.
One lolly, babe.

Thank you so much! Thank you.

Amazing.
Thank you!

Good job, babe.

"Route Info.

"Make your way to the most famous
street in Campeche, Calle 59."

OK, let's go.

One of the most famous streets
in Campeche is Calle 59,

famed for its brightly
coloured houses.

Now, in this challenge,
our teams must memorise the colours

of 25 houses
on one side of the street.

They must then match
the colour swatch to the house

in the correct order
and place it on a board.

When they do that, they'll receive
their next clue.

Good luck to 'em,
'cause I just did a renovation

and there are 450
different types of white.

Andale!

Looking for a marked wrapper.
It could be any one.

It could be any-WHERE,

with the intensity we were smacking
those pinatas with.

Got it. Got it.

Thank you!

Thank you! Let's go.

Goodnight! Thank you.
Thank you. 'Bye.

"Make your way to the most famous
street in Campeche, Calle 59.

"Memorise the order
of the coloured buildings

"to receive your next clue."

Let's go.
Wait, let's do it together.

Yeah, we'll do it together. Yep, OK.

Yes! Get it! Smash it!

That's it!

I got carried away when we started
hitting the pinata and whacking it.

It was fun to release some tension.

Look out, Toni. Whoa, watch out.
Steady, steady, steady.

What are we looking for?
Right.

We're collecting the wrapped sweets.

Hey! Check!

Thank you! Let's get our bags.
Thank you! Cheers.

"Route Info.

"Make your way to the most famous
street in Campeche, Calle 59."

Let's go.
There. Come on, we can do it.

You just have to hit 'em down.

And then hit 'em down -
we can whack 'em with the sticks.

You got this, babe.

It was very straightforward.

We were hitting the target,
it just was not dropping.

I don't know what
we were doing wrong.

Yes! Oh!

The frustration is so real
when you're the first team there

and other teams come
and boom, it's off.

Yes, babe.

Ohh!

They got 'em both.

Cynthia! Here, here!
Oh, my God!

Yes, yes, yes! Check, check, check!

Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Thank you so much.
OK. "Route Info.

"Memorise the order of the coloured
buildings to receive your next clue."

Yes! Oh, my God.

Is it just one?

Oh, yeah.

Yeah, I got it.

We never wanna see another pinata
in our life.

Better not invite us
to any kids' birthdays!

Got it.
Yeah.

Thank you. Gracias. Gracias.
Thank you.

"Make your way to the most famous
street in Campeche, Calle 59."

Let's go.

Turn right
when you see the angel statue.

There's an arrow by the flowers.

The real 'Kath & Kim'!

There.

I used to do race walk with
athletics and I HATED it.

The shin splints are insane.

Lauren and Steph
and Chelsea and Jamus are up there.

Think we can all just work
together and bust through this.

We're not gonna work with Toni
and Heath, much as we love them.

This is our leg, alright?
Yep.

Unfortunately, they'll catch us.
We can't help that.

They're just too fast.

That's the angel up there,
and we turn right.

Wait. Wait for them.

- Wait, wait, wait.
- Yeah, hold up, Jamus.

We're in the old town, Tones.
OK.

Straight? Thank you.

These are all
the coloured buildings?

But they go left and right.

They go left and right.

Here!
We're here before 8:00.

What's the time? 7:00. 7:00.

No, but that's 5:00. That's 5!
That's 5:00.

1700 is 5:00. It's closed,
which means we should sign up.

OK. OK.

There was a sign-up board
for tomorrow morning

and we got our names on
third on the list.

So not bad. Three out of seven -
we'll take that.

Job done, ladies! They're back!

Going in.

Launch it, babe,
and it will go over,

and it will hit Kelly and Georgia's
one and knock it down.

Probably.

Oh, my... I don't understand.

Oh, my God!

This pinata became my worst enemy.

Oh, f...

They're not far behind us.

Let's go, Frankie.

Walk, walk, walk.

Calle 59.
Called 59. Calle 59...

- Down there?
- Down there? Oh, yeah.

We signed up and we came in fourth.
Fourth.

Yep.

Feels good.

OK, we're in fifth place.

Come on!

My back is killing me here.

The world's strongest pinata,
to ever live.

Come on!

Keep focusing,
keep using the power.

My back is giving out there.

I'm convinced
this is reinforced with metal.

The candy's falling out of it.

I'm off this.

Is that it?
How did you find it?

I don't know. It was right there.
What?

We did it, we did it, we did it.

Is that it?
Yes.

Yes!

Fricking hell, you've done it!

"Make your way to the most famous
street in Campeche." Let's go.

Yep.

OK, five blocks.

Hasn't moved at all.

8:15.
8:15.

Cute with a heart! Love it.
Totes cute.

We didn't come last.
Yep.

Darl, we're gonna kill it tomorrow.
Yep.

Ooh, those teams better watch out.

Oh, look, they've got the music out.

They're playing stuff.
Wow.

This is nice.

My back and knees are just cooked.

Maybe we'll go down
in Amazing Race history

for being, like, the longest
people at a challenge.

I wonder what that record is.

We've decided to take a penalty.

We've been here
for nearly four hours

and no matter how many times
I hit it, it's just not gonna budge,

so we'll just take the penalty
and finish strong.

Yeah.

Thank you so much.
Thank you, thank you.

Thank you.
Alright.

Alright.

"Make your way to the most famous
street in Campeche, Calle 59."

Alright, let's do it, let's do it.

thing.

It's the craziest thing
we've ever done.

I know.

I'm angry now, but I'll look back
and I'll be like,

"Nothing more we could've done,
just wasn't our day."

Just to get bloody beaten
by a pinata.

Oh, no, don't tell me it's closed.

Oh, bullshit. Bullshit.

Bull... You're kidding.

No way.

We're sitting here
thinking we're going home.

Oh, my God.

Don't cry, baby.

I love you.

I love you too.
Kiss.

I'm just so exhausted and
thought we were going, like...

So now we're only three minutes
behind Pako and Mori.

Yay.

We've been given a second chance.

We belong at the top

and we're gonna show it
tomorrow, for sure.

Good luck, everyone.

Roa... Oh, careful of
these wet roads, babe.

Yeah.

Slow down.
Yep.

Come on, hon, let's run.
They're getting too far ahead.

Go, go, go!

That's a lot of colours to memorise.

There was, like,
30 buildings, 35 buildings,

and we had to memorise
all of the colours in order.

And they were the exact colours.
It wasn't like red, blue, green.

They were like a specific shade
and then the colour

and you had to match it
exactly in order.

Like terracotta, apricot.
Yeah.

Light brown.
Light brown. Yeah, light brown.

These houses were gorgeous.

They were...they were
all freshly painted

and they were all different colours.

It kind of reminded me
of Valparaiso, from Chile,

with all the different-coloured
houses and they were all together

and it was gorgeous,
it was like a rainbow.

A rainbow. So fitting!

Let's go, G!
Yeah.

I can go faster,
so you just let me know.

What's this one?
What are we calling this?

Um, like, I'd say pink.
Clay.

Clay pink.
Clay dusty pink.

To help us for the challenge,

I whipped out my miniature
detective book,

um, and we walked down the street
taking some notes

recording all of our colours.

Fading light blue.

What are we calling this colour?

Same one as the other one, really.
It is, yeah.

It's like clay brown. Yeah.

I think we did that really well.

That was our police instincts
coming through there.

OK.
Got a board. OK.

That was a lot of buildings, hey?

Sky blue.
Almost royal.

Yeah. Yeah, yeah. Royal blue.

Burnt orange.

We were thinking about how
we were gonna tackle the challenge

in the morning with the colours
of the buildings

and it was kind of the "Richard
of York gave battle in vain"

is how I remember the rainbow
as a child.

So we could kind of tell
a story by our memory.

Burnt orange, light blue,
burnt orange that's brown.

Burnt orange, royal blue.

Sky blue.
In your head.

What colour's beige?

These are the only yellows.

Yeah, I know. The yellow
was like that baby yellow.

Blue, white. How are you
supposed to know this?

So what we ended up doing
was taking all of our colour cards

and running back to the start
and put them all in order.

Um, poo green.

Nana's favourite colour.

We realised that the coloured cards
were actually photographs

of each wall and they had
identifying marks, not only colours.

Yeah, no, no, it's this one here.
It's this one here.

See the blue bit there.
Oh, yep.

There's nothing closer.
It's gotta be that.

OK. That's gotta be it, babe.
That's not it.

I reckon it is.

You count those.

How many do you have?
13.

OK, so 12 plus 13 is what...

12 plus 13 is 30.

What?
No.

It's 25.

Should we take this?
Let's go back to the very start.

OK.
While we refresh.

Alright, what number is that?
See, look at this.

That bit there.
It's 23.

You call the colours out.
Burgundy. A mustard.

Clay brown
and then a light blue faded.

What's the deepest red?

That looks like the deepest red.
Yeah.

Check, please.

Thank you. Alright, no worries.

OK.
Take the cards with us.

Yeah.
Down the road.

Yeah.
Check, please.

OK, thanks. Take all these cards
off and go for a run.

We've got a terracotta light.

Then we've got a pink.

A blue, like a standard blue.

It's more like a sky...
No. Like a sea blue.

I'll put water. That will
remind me of what it is.

I think Mori's
a bit of a colour queen.

Cyan, magenta, you know.

I love to decorate.
I hate it.

There was different shades
of the colours we looked at.

We're like, "Oh, shoot, dammit."
So many different shades.

So we actually turned back around

and then we saw
Pako and Mori rock up.

Do youse wanna link up?
Only if youse want to.

Yeah.
Yeah, OK.

We've got that one, don't worry.
Oh, what's that one?

It was a good idea to team up
with Pako and Mori.

Nuh.
Nah.

We saw teams working together

but when you have other opinions
from other people

and other groups, you can get
confused and doubt yourself.

Holy crap!

And then green.

White, blue.
Go on, say, "Check, please."

Check, please.

No. Dammit.

Mustard, blue, brown, maroon.

Mustard, blue, brown, maroon.
Check, please!

Thank you so much.

Our strategy worked really well. Yay!

Did you get it?
Yeah!

Congrats!
Thanks.

Good work, girls.
Oh, good work, girls.

Alright, let's go.
Next to each other.

OK.

"Drive yourselves
to the Hacienda Sotuta de Peon.

"Harvest and twist henequen
into 5m of rope."

In this challenge, teams must come
to Hacienda Sotuta de Peon

and harvest henequen,
the indigenous agave plant.

Known as the green gold of Yucatan,

it's used to make rope.

The plant is native to Yucatan

and when rope production boomed
in the early 1900s,

it revolutionised the area forever.

Firstly, our teams
must carry fronds of henequen

from the field behind me
to the factory.

They'll then hand them to
a factory worker who'll process them.

They'll then comb the fibres.

I've got a daughter. Do this
every morning before school.

And finally, they must turn
the fibres into 5m of rope.

When they do that,
they'll receive their next clue.

Because the hacienda
is a working farm,

teams won't be able to run
within the hacienda grounds.

Oh, my goodness!

Yep. Can we check?
Should we check?

OK.

It must be that one.

Should we check?
Can we check?

Thank you!
Thank you!

Check.

Gracias. Thank you.

Nice.

"Drive yourselves to
the Hacienda Sotuta de Peon."

"Harvest and twist
henequen in 5m of rope."

Let's go.

We've already used one.
We've already used the other one.

Is it this one?
Yeah, that's it.

We worked with Steph and Lauren

because we both entered in
first and second.

We started to realise that it wasn't
just about the shades of the colours.

The swatches
actually have little hints

to which colour the wall
may have been from.

- I like to call this Ibiza Blue.
- Ibiza Blue.

Ibiza Blue. 'Ibitha'.

OK, check, please.

OK, let's go, G. Pull 'em off.

All of them?

Pull them all off
and start from the start.

We cannot start
from the start, Kelly.

We don't know which
are right and wrong.

Shouldn't we be going with the ones
that we've got question marks on?

Or do you want to
double-check all of them?

All of them.

OK, but you're getting
confused, babe.

No, these are what
we're still looking for.

But where are we up to?
We've got to...

I don't know.
So check your pile, darling.

No, the really dark blue,
the wild blue.

The wild blue and
then we had terracotta.

And then we had a light blue.
So we're onto the dirty white.

They were so tricksy.

Like, we wrote down
so many whites and beiges

and then when we got
the colour cards, none of them

looked like white or beige.
No.

That's got a thingy. That's got a...
I've already got the drain.

We'll have to switch it
'cause that's...

Let's check what one.

So we had to go back and look at,
like, particular aspects

of, like, the drain,
or where a cactus was

or where peeling bits of paint
were on the building, like.

It was pretty tough.
It's not that one, Toni.

Are you sure?
Look at the pattern.

There's one down there.
I've already seen it.

So this is the only blue
I've got left.

Heath, you should have that.
Yep, got that.

Come on, babe. Mustard.

OK. But that one's right.
Write it down, write it down.

Yeah. Let's go.

Light, sky blue, white.

Check, please.

Thank you.

You trickster!

Thank you.
Thank you so much. Cheers.

"Drive yourselves to
the Hacienda Sotuta de Peon.

"Harvest and twist henequen
into 5m of rope."

Are you driving?
Yep.

Where's the TomTom?

Must be in the car.
It'll be in the car.

Is your map working?
No.

Nuh. That's why we came back for.

Can you get it online?

Maps ain't working.
Yep. Neither.

We took off and then discovered
that our navigation app didn't work.

Let's just go in convoy.
Follow us. We don't mind.

Toni, this could
really us.

But what are we gonna do?

Ah, they're going.

The only team that was working
was Frankie and Angel.

We kind of all decided to convoy
and follow Frankie and Angel.

Can't lose Frankie and Angel.
Nuh.

This is gonna end badly, I feel it.
Babe.

Where are they?
Is that them behind us?

I don't know.
I already lost 'em.

Just...just go, Frankie.

Just go. Who cares if we lose them?

We're following Frankie and Angel.

They're the only ones that have,
um, a map that works.

I hate now that we helped
the other teams.

It's annoying at
this stage of the race

when you've got an advantage 'cause
other people's phones aren't working

but we're so nice that we offered
for everyone to follow us

and then I was like,
"Why did we do that?

"We could have had
such a big head start."

How about we do a little...

We'll go this way
and pretend it's this way.

...we do a little detour
and then ditch everyone.

We just saw Frankie
and Angel veer off.

What a shitshow.

That's bullshit. Do you reckon
they've done this intentionally?

You bastards.

I'm dying here.

There.
There's a sign over there.

Where? Dead ahead?
Here, yep, dead ahead.

Toni, we're the first team.

Get that water.

Follow factory. Yeah?

Guys, we're so sorry.

I was supposed to be
directing Frankie

and when I looked behind me,
I was like,

"Oh, my gosh, we lost them."

No, all good.
We linked back up.

Then when I found you,
I was like, "They found us again!"

Sorry, girls. Youse were
following us and I lost everyone.

Nah, you're all good.
We ended up sorting our map out.

OK.

Like one bundle each,
hessian fronds.

And then back to the factory?
Yeah.

We collect some fibres
to give them to the workers there.

"At the factory,
you must each deliver

"your bundle of fronds
to the worker."

Gracias.

"And then you must reposition
yourself to the end of the machine."

From the machine, we got some fibres
that we then had to dry out.

"Make your way to the cart
where you'll be handed a bundle."

Thanks for letting us
follow youse for a bit.

You left us but thanks
for letting us follow you.

We...we lost everyone!

Cross the street. Come on.

"Through the marked gate."
Yep.

"And turn the fibre into rope."

Oh, give it a crack.

Whip and grab. Whip and grab.

Can I do that and you'll do that?

I mean, they did it within seconds,

which looked much easier
than it was.

How did you do that, Tones?
I don't know.

I just kind of, like,
fed...fed some into it.

And it caught as it was spinning.

See how it's just slowly grabbing?

Stop. "Wait in line."

Is there only one machine?

Yeah.
Oh, really?

Yep.
That's why they're waiting in line.

And if you get it wrong,
you go back of the line.

This is gonna take so long.

Like, we're doing one team
at a time.

Oh, my God!
Looks so hard, though.

Just one machine. That is so...

Now just pull some
from outside.

Ugh!

Yeah, our first rope was a bit...
a bit all over the place.

There was lots of clumpy bits.

And then there was
some real skinny bits.

No. Keep a hold of it, babe.

Oh, it was proper ugly.
Like, you couldn't use that rope.

Good?
Yeah.

No? Thanks.

It was a definite fail.

As we got failed,

we then had to go back to the end
of the queue which never feels good.

Yikes.

Got it. Alright.
Come on.

Oh, oh. Oh, nuh. Go forward.

Let's try. Just do it once and done.

Got to stay ahead
of Chelsea and Jamus and...

Yes.
...and Kelly and Georgia.

Is it a pair each or just me?
Pair each.

Alright, they're light, so...

Got one bundle?
You set the pace.

So it's just two bunches.

Yep. Can you carry it, please?

Is it just like that?
Yep. Two bunches.

Factory!

Oh, this guy, this guy, this guy.

Hello.

One? Just one bundle? Read it.

Straight over there? Great.

Thank you.
Thank you.

Feed a little bit at a time.
OK.

Hi, team.
Hello.

Equal
playing field now, guys.

Hey.
What a nice walk that was.

Yeah.

- Oh, no. It broke.
- It's so hard.

And that's the reason why
we're at the back of the line.

Kelly, can you please
enunciate, darling?

Sorry, yes. You're here.
Going right off here.

So frustrating. It's like...on the
direction thing it said Celestun.

But then it's to go right.

But Celestun is saying
straight on that sign.

That's... That's a kick in the dick.

Ooh, yeah, this needs about
3 litres of conditioner.

She is thirsty.
She's a thirsty weed.

OK.

Bit by bit. As we go.
OK.

Feed with the thumb.

Slowly, please.

Gracias.
Bit by bit, as we go.

We needed to make 5m out of this.

So we had to make sure
the rope was really thin.

Like that but not too...too much.

Not too much. Don't pull it,
don't pull it too much.

You go in and thread it in.
I just gotta hold it.

Yep. I got it.

Don't pull it...don't pull it
too much. It will snap.

Ooh, and that's work for this man.

It's not a perfect rope
but she'll do, right?

It's a rope.
We gotta show the judge our rope.

Don't use it to hold
anything up but...

...decorate it around the house.

Is it strong?

Ooh, I don't know.

Yeah! Gracias!

Thank you!
Gracias.

OK.
Here you go. That's for you.

All the way up to the front again.

I mean, I won't say it's where
we belong but it feels right.

They're so good at everything!

Let's go.
Ooh, it's a Road Block.

- Road Block.
- "Who's in the deep end?"

I'm always in the deep end with you.

It'll be a water challenge.
It'll be water.

I'll do it.
You'll do it?

Yeah, I can do it.
OK.

All across Yucatan, Mexico,

are naturally occurring sinkholes
called cenotes,

which originally were drinking holes
for the local miners.

They are everywhere,
including on this hacienda.

Teams will have to do their best
'Kath & Kim' power walk

to the other end of the property.

In this Road Block,
one member from each team

must come here to Dzul Ha Cenote.

They'll have to shower so not to
contaminate the crystal-clear water

and free-dive to the bottom...

...to retrieve their next clue.

How good!

Permiso.

Beautiful. Ya. Gracias.
Muchas gracias.

Broke.

It's OK. Thank you.

We've all been in that spot.
Yeah.

Are you good?
Yeah.

Gracias.

Thank you so much.

Roadie.

Deep end, deep. Water maybe?
OK.

Nuh.

Oi!

I've never had long hair, so I...

I have long hair
but it's not this knotty.

Oh, come on, we can do this.
Come on, rope gods.

Frankie, I'm running out.
Yeah, no, you just hold there.

Just hold. Doesn't matter.

Easy, it is, eh?

Keep following this.

Are we back on the road
we were on?

Yeah, we're back on the highway.

Sorry, G.
It's alright.

I added seven minutes

and now we're stuck behind
the slowest vehicle on Earth.

I feel like that just
summarises this leg for us.

Legit.

Just can't catch a break.

- Get our bags, OK.
- Yep.

Hopefully the boot popped open.

Ooh!

Nuh.

Oh, shoot.

We're gonna have
to do it again, Frankie.

Oh! It is like my hair.

Oh, it broke.

Yours is too thick.

We'll have to get another one.

For 's sake!

It was so hard. Like...

We had to go to the back
of the queue which was not great

'cause everyone else was before us.

It was just a nightmare.

We're thinking maybe being
at the back of the line,

bit of an advantage

'cause we've gotten to see
so many teams have a go.

We're hoping we can improve on
what they've sort of mucked up.

Nice. Not too fast, Frankie.
Take your time.

I know, I know.

Skipping rope.

Yay! Gracias!

Yes! Thank you.

The second time we got it,
we were outta there!

"Who's in the deep end?"
I'm keen, I'm keen.

You are.
Sweet.

Just do soft throws onto the top.

Don't put it so deep on the spikes.

OK.

You didn't date me because of
my muscles. I think that's good, G.

Hello. Thanks.
Hello.

Yep, keep going.

Don't break it. Kelly, be careful.

OK, you do the clamp.
I'll do the clamp?

Don't twist too much, Kelly.

There we go. There we go.

There we go.

Yes. Good, good, good.

Good.

This is 5m, G, probably.
Yes, let's go. That's good.

Yes! Thank you so much.
Thank you so much.

Thank you, thank you, thank you.
Gracias.

It was just a huge reminder that
it can literally change in a second

and you can't give up
no matter how down you feel.

It can just do a 360 so quickly.

Clean rip.

Road Block.

"Road Block.
Who's in the deep end?" I am.

I need to do a Road Block.

I haven't done one for ages.
You got this.

Finish.

OK, grab the other end.

I think it looks good.

Thank you.

Thank you so much. Thank you.
Gracias.

"Who's in the deep end?"
Yep, I'm in the deep end.

Good work, girls.
Thank you.

After all of that.
Thank you.

Thanks so much.
Thank you. Thanks so much for that.

Thank you so much.

Me.
OK. Done. You.

There it is!

Yeah!

So cool!

Gracias!

Cheers, baby. Mwah.

Thank you.
Thank you so much. Thank you.

"Who's in the deep end?"
That's you, hon.

Really?
It's all you, babe.

Oh, my God.
You're such a clown.

Why does it smell like shit?

Why am I concerned about this?

Dive into some shit.

First place has gone.
Yeah, that's fine.

And there's still, what,
four teams behind us?

Still wanna finish strong.

Alright, I think we're here.

Alright.

"You must shower
before the cenote.

"Free-dive into the cenote."

You've got goggles as well.
"Use the goggles provided."

Go. Yeah, yeah. I'll wait here.

Good luck, babe. Have fun.

This is the best!

Oh, my gosh. This is so pretty.

Sometimes in this race
you get to do things

that you've never thought
you'd ever do

and, like, these are
one of those moments.

Yeah.

Beautiful cavelike area.
Yeah.

Underground. Crystal-clear water.
Wow.

Like, you know,
just, like, rocks everywhere.

And you could see
everything in the water.

This is such a cool challenge.

We had to free-dive down
to get our next clue.

And it felt like
a really spiritual place.

I just felt rejuvenated, especially
after all the legs we've been doing.

It was a nice reset.

Oh, my God.
I'm never gonna forget this.

It was just absolutely breathtaking.

That was awesome!
What was it like?

Beautiful,
it's like a cave underground

with all of these,
like, cavelike things.

OK.

Route Info.

"Make your way
to Hacienda Sotuta de Peon

"to find Beau at the Pit Stop."

Now all the teams have to do
is come and find me here

at the Hacienda Sotuta de Peon.

This, however, is a Virtual Pit Stop.

A Virtual Pit Stop means that
our teams will not stop racing

after they've checked in.

No meals.

No showers.

And, most importantly, no sleep.

Oh, yeah, and one team
MAY be eliminated.

Depends how I'm feeling.

Remember, though, no running.

Goal is to just qualify
for the next leg.

Let's go, let's go!

Go on, baby. Free-dive.

Wedding ring's in the shoe.
Wedding ring's in the shoe.

Let's go, Heathy!

- I wonder how they're going.
- I know.

Oh, this is awesome.

Get out.

Got it? You're sexy as, baby.

That was so good!

I had to... I wanted
to swim in there.

Do you want to marry me again?

Thank you.
Go and get changed.

No, let's open it. Let's go.

No-one's coming up yet.
Oh, it is.

"Make your way on foot back
to Hacienda Sotuta de Peon

"to find Beau at the Pit Stop.

"Hurry!"
Let's go, let's go.

"Do not run."

Come on, Heath.
We can power-walk, though.

Yeah.
Not far now.

Give me your hand
and I'll pull ya. Come on.

No. Come on.

Here we go.
...one.

I can't check you in until
you serve a 10-minute penalty.

As soon as I hit
the cenote, panic set in.

I hate that feeling of
waiting for another team.

- Is that it up there?
- Just look for the flags.

Have fun!

I wish I could come.

Oh, wow!

Oh, my gosh, it was so beautiful
walking down into this cave

and following the path down
to where the water was.

It was beautiful.

I'm so jealous.

Let's go.

Oh, that's beautiful.

OK, there's change rooms there.
You don't need it, do you?

No, it says you have to have
a shower before, though.

OK.

Why couldn't we both do it?

"Make your way on foot
back to Hacienda Sotuta de Peon

"to find Beau at the Pit Stop.

"Hurry, last team to check in
may be eliminated."

Let's go.
Alright, let's go.

I think Georgia might be doing it.

Unless she's already done it.

Got it.

Yay!

Good job.

Was it so clear?
Yeah, but then pitch-black.

Oh!

Alright, you get your shoes on.

Come on.
Go, go, go, go, go.

Oh, my God. This is amazing.
If only I wasn't racing.

Gotta go.

"Make your way on foot
back to Hacienda Sotuta de Peon..."

Are you an English teacher?
What is this?

"...to find Beau at the Pit Stop."

"Hurry, last team to check in
may be eliminated."

I'm not letting these guys pass us.
But you're not allowed to run here.

You always walk faster than me.

It's because, like,
I power-walk for exercise.

So this is just like...
You've got the technique.

Just want to get to the Pit Stop.
Yep.

And then I can slow down.
Yep.

My gosh. Let's go. Let's go.
Let's go. Let's go.

We're not going home,
we're not going home.

Let's go. Go, go, go!

Like, hopefully we get a...

We should be close.

And then we'll get a drink of water
and then go toilet.

Toni, let's just cruise, eh?

Can we please just pick up the pace?

Let's just cruise.
No-one's passed us.

It's good for my bum. It's exercise.
Let's just embrace this second.

I'm embracing it. It's beautiful.
You're not. You're on a speed walk.

OK. Somewhere around here.

- Pako and Mori are there.
- Come on!

Which way do we go?

There. Over here.

Come on.
I'm walking quick, babe.

We're fine.

It's not fine till
we've got to the Pit Stop.

Oh, my God!
It's like Easter eggs.

Is it that place? OK.
It's in here.

Here we go.

Here we go!

Welcome to Mexico!

Gracias!
Thank you.

Welcome to Mexico.

Pako and Mori, you are
the first team to check in!

You are one step closer to $250,000

and the Isuzu D-MAX
and the Isuzu MU-X.

However, this is a Virtual Pit Stop.

So here's your next clue, boys.
Continue racing.

On you go!
What the hell?

On you go. This way!
That way?

On you go.
Oh, my God.

A Virtual Pit Stop? What is that?
I don't know.

What's a Virtual Pit Stop mean?

They got no idea
what's going on, do they?

Heath and Toni.

They're very impressive, these two.

Oh, yeah?
Mm-hm.

Well done.

Welcome to Mexico.
Thank you so much.

Thank you.

Heath and Toni, you are
the second team to check in.

Yay!

However...
Yeah?

...this is a Virtual Pit Stop.

Oh. I knew that was coming.

Here's your next clue.
Continue racing, guys.

Thank you so much.
See you soon.

Nice to meet you.
See you!

They're always thinking
I'm up to something.

Do you know what I mean? Every time
I check them in, they're like, "And?"

Know what I mean? Yeah.
Yeah, exactly.

You feel refreshed, though.
You had your swim.

Yeah, that was... That was awesome.

I knew there was a 'but'.

You could tell on his face
there was a 'but'.

Look out for the poo.

No. I'm gonna do a poo.

Ew.

Ew, it smells.

We are some...
We are in fourth right now.

We are somehow in fourth place.
Yeah.

Oh. Nuh.

He doesn't want us.
Let's go.

Oh!
Kelly and Georgia are there.

Can you walk faster, please?

Go, go, go!

What are we gonna do with the rope?
Maybe we tie each other together.

Should we get on the train?

Does it say, "Make your way on foot"?

We can't get any more
together than what we are right now.

On this side so we get
to the Pit Stop quicker.

Do you know if there's
any 2-for-1 taco places open?

Here, I don't know.
You don't know?

No, I don't know.
But I can ask the local people.

Yes.
Yes, that'd be great.

Thank you so much. I love tacos.

Do they do Taco Tuesday on Fridays?

No, they don't.
No. And Taco Bell is not a taco.

Quick! Be careful.
It's tight, it's tight.

Oh, they're roped up.
Oh, yes.

Hola!
Hola!

Angel and Frankie,
you're the third team to check in.

But this is a Virtual Pit Stop,
so here's your next clue.

Keep racing.
What?

This way! See you, guys.
What?

What the hell?

Oh, my God.
Right, let's go, let's go, let's go.

"The race isn't over yet.
Here's another clue. Keep racing."

"Keep racing."
And I was like, "Sorry?"

Have you ever...

Do you use rope at home much
on your partner or...

No.
It's cool if you do, man.

You know what I mean?
Whatever you're into, bro.

OK, just a second.

The contestants is coming...
are coming.

This is so cool.

I'm so proud of you.
This is the best we've done.

Hola!
Hello.

They won't be smiling long.
Ready?

...two, one.

Welcome to Mexico.

Gracias.
Thank you.

Kelly and Georgia, you are
the fourth team to arrive.

Good job, good job.
Yep.

However, I can't check you in
until you serve a 10-minute penalty

because you did not complete
the pinata challenge.

Yeah.
Yeah.

Please step to the side of the mat.

That started from
when we first got here.

Wow.
Yeah. I know.

The mood changed
pretty quick, didn't it?

Yeah.
It changed pretty quick.

They were happy, then they were whoo!
Oh, yeah.

We'll be fine. Don't stress.

You reckon?
Yeah. Yeah, we'll be fine.

You guys got this.
Good job.

You're gonna love it.
How far? How far?

Just around the corner.
OK.

Do you reckon that Chelsea and Jamus
might have taken the time penalty?

Here they are.

Thank you.
Thank you.

Is it scary?
Nuh, it's beautiful.

Underground water cave.

It's beautiful.
OK.

I hate that feeling of
just waiting for another team.

To hear their voices, like...
I know. I know.

Speed walk. Speed walk.
OK.

OK.

OK.

Welcome to Mexico.

Thank you.
Thank you.

Tiffany and Cynthia,
you are the fifth team to arrive.

But you're the fourth team
to check in.

OK.
OK. Whoo.

OK.
Alright.

Not as happy.

And this is a Virtual Pit Stop.
So here's your next clue.

Oh, my gosh.
Continue racing.

Go on, girls.
Oh, wow. OK.

OK, thank you. OK.
Get going.

Good luck.

There's no way
Chelsea and Jamus

are getting there
in seven minutes and back.

Seven minutes?
Yeah.

You can do a lot in seven minutes.
Oh, yeah.

Let's start counting. One, two...
No. Don't do that.

There'll be some sort of flag
or something. Do you see a flag?

Yeah.

OK, go, Lauren, go, go, go!

Stunning.

OK.

Down here.

I'm really nervous about this.

I haven't even gotten in the water.
Don't give up yet.

It was absolutely stunning.

I couldn't even take it in, though,

because I was in such a stress about
Chelsea and Jamus coming behind.

Me and water is not...not great.

Oh, far out.

I feel really uncomfortable in water

just because the fact that
a cenote is in a dark hole

just freaks me out even more
because I'm really claustrophobic.

And so I'm diving under
to collect my clue.

Argh!

OK.

"Route Info - make your way on foot

"back to the Hacienda Sotuta de Peon
to find Beau at the Pit Stop.

"Hurry, the last team to arrive
might be eliminated."

Let's go.

Holy moly.

I was trying to remain calm
and just be brave...

...but...

...as soon as I hit the cenote,
panic set in.

Help.

Jamus.

She was getting really panicky

and I thought she was
gonna start drowning.

I wanted to jump in and rescue her.

I can't do this.

God! Why?

Love you.
Love you.

You did so good today. Superstar.
Thanks. So did you.

Imagine how Holly and Jake felt
standing here for half an hour.

I know. Far out.

That would have been
the worst feeling watching...

They had to watch, like, 15 teams.
Yeah.

Oh, God!

I had a chat to myself.

Either I leave it there.

Or go down and get it.

Argh!

But I just thought of the kids
and thought, "Stuff it."

Whoo!

I'm really proud of myself
for doing that

because for a minute I thought
I was just gonna leave it there

and get out of the water,
but I thought of the kids

and thought, "They need to see
their mum cracking a fear

"and just going for it."

How was it, darling?

Scary?
Yeah.

Hey, darling, relax.

Come on. Just get my clothes on.
Let's go.

Yeah.

My asthma. I can't take it.

Small confined spaces. Argh!

Oh, I'm so proud of Chelsea.

It was a big fear
she overcame today.

So, yeah, I'm really proud
of you, Chelsea.

Thank you.

"Route Info.

"Make your way up to
Hacienda Sotuta de Peon

"to find Beau at the Pit Stop.

"Hurry, the last team
to check in may be eliminated."

Wait till you see these hips move.
Come on.

Quick walking only. I'm with you.

So the last team to arrive
at the Pit Stop will be eliminated.

And here we are
at last position right now.

We've had a good run.

Oh, man. Don't give up yet.

How crazy are all these beautiful
things we get to do on this race?

Amazing.

Could you ever imagine?
No.

Honey.

You alright, baby?

Kelly and Georgia,
please step back onto the mat.

Alright, guys,
you've now served your penalty

and you are the fifth team
to check in.

Yay!
Sweet. We'll take it.

And this is a Virtual Pit Stop.
Oh!

And here's your next clue.
Oh, my God!

As you guys saw, continue racing.
Arghh!

Two more. Two more teams.
Two more. Yeah. Two more left.

We can walk it out.
They're not gonna catch us here.

That's OK.
Right.

I hope the race-walk athletics

doesn't kill me
for race-walking so poorly.

Hang on, that's not right.

You're my girl.

Alrighty.

What would you do with $250,000?
Everything.

Yeah.
And you?

I'd go home.
OK.

There you go.

Welcome to Mexico.

Gracias.

Steph and Lauren, you are
the sixth team to check in.

Six is OK. Six is in.

It's not over yet, girls.
It's a Virtual Pit Stop.

Keep racing. Here's your next clue.
Thank you.

Thank you.
Come on. This way, this way.

Thank you.
Good work. Thank you. Thank you.

Good to see you.
Yeah, they are happy.

Yeah.

Here we go.
Oh, wow.

Chelsea and Jamus, you are
the last team to check in.

Yeah.

How are you feeling?
Pretty sad.

Whilst I'm sure
the kids will be proud,

I feel like I've still
let them down.

Leaving them and sacrificing
a lot for the last six weeks.

Oh, I'm so proud of Chelsea.

Like, you know, Chelsea and I,
we've done so good.

Man, this is like more than
we asked for, you know.

It's my girl, man.
It's my number one.

So even though she...
Cracks off.

Like a firecracker.
Firecracker.

Time to go?
Excited to see the babies.

Yeah, we're looking forward
to seeing our kids, man. Far out.

It's been a long time.

Well, you won't be seeing 'em
for a while yet

because this is a Virtual Pit Stop
and here's your next clue.

Continue racing.

What?

You're still in the race.
Head this way.

Which way?
This way!

What?!
Oh, man.

We're not going. I'm so confused.

What the hell just happened?

I don't know but you've got
crumbs on your chin.

Oh, come on, man.
Oh, really.

It's what it's all about, brother.
Oh, yes.

How good. They thought they were
going home. They didn't want to.

They said they wanted to go home
but they lie.

They get to the mat and lie.

This next leg means
that we have to work together

and do what we haven't done
this entire race.

Mwah.

I'm so shocked, hon.
I know.

Next time
on The Amazing Race Australia...

As we continue through Mexico...

Oh!
U-turn.

...teams will turn on each other...

Sorry.

Sorry, moll.

...leaving some...

First time ever
doing make-up.

Wonder where
Heath and Toni are.

...in real trouble.

It should be just here.

We're lost.
So are we.

Could be game over now.
