Nailed It! (2018–…): Season 6, Episode 6 - Everyone Romaine Calm - full transcript

A gardening theme gives life to doughy gnomes atop miniature pies and a healthy-ish veggie-patch cake packed with carrots and zucchini.

[gentle piano music playing]

Oh, hi there. Oh, you caught me.

I was just tending to my tiny garden.

Welcome to Nailed It!,

where cakes strive to blossom,

but end up in the compost heap.

I'm your host, Nicole Byer.

Today, three amateur bakers
will be challenged to recreate

professional treats
themed around garden life.

And at stake, the grand prize of $10,000!

And the Nailed It! trophy.

Let's meet our bakers!

But first, I have to finish.

[chuckles softly]

My name is Teri
and I'm super excited to be here.

I am a Nailed It! quadruple
super, super, duper, duper fan.

I cannot believe I get to make food
for Jacques and Nicole.

I just got a little nervous
and my armpits just got hot.

[laughs]

Oh, man. Ooh.

My name is Raaya.

I first started dabbling into baking
just for the fun of it.

Then it transitioned
into a cupcake business.

After relocating to a new city,

I took a break from baking.

So, Nailed It! is actually
gonna be the first time

that I'm jumping back into baking.

[chuckles]

My name is Thanh.

The judges don't know it yet,
but they'll pick me to be the winner.

I have baked things

and it has gone
extremely wrong many times,

but I just have a good feeling
the judges are just gonna like my face.

Welcome, Raaya, Thanh, and Teri.

Ready to get your hands dirty?

-Yes! Let's bake!
-So excited.

Bakers, you've all heard of
Jack and his beanstalk.

Well, this is our Jacques
and his beans are magical cocoa!

Give it up for Jacques Torres!

-[cheering]
-Thank you, merci.

I love gardens and cake.

I will be "rooting" for you.

Oh, Jacques, I liked that pun.

It was fun and it provided me with joy.

You know who else provides me with joy?

The very hilarious June Diane Raphael!

Hello, everyone.

I'm so happy to be here.

I'm such a judgmental person.
People say that about me.

[Nicole] Perfect. Well, bakers,

today, we break new ground
with a brand-new Baker's Choice challenge.

It won't be a piece of cake.

It literally won't be,
because it's not cake.

For the first time in Nailed It! history,
we're gonna be making...

pies!

Garden Gnome Mini Pies!

[laughing]

[Nicole] That's right.
For the first pie challenge ever,

you'll be recreating
these six-inch mini pies,

which feature various gnome characters
in their natural gnome habitat...

a garden!

These pies' crust, character, and details

have been fashioned from pie dough.

The designs are painted
with an edible paint

and sit atop a firm pudding center.

A sprinkling of shredded coconuts
complete the decorative garden setting.

It is so much.

-Raaya! Which gnome do you pick?
-The blue.

-[gnome] Whoo-hoo!
-[Nicole] Okay!

-Teri!
-The gnomes are telling me to pick orange.

-[gnome] It's true.
-[Nicole] All right.

-Thanh? Which one do you have?
-The green one. He matches me.

-[gnome] Yes.
-[Nicole] Oh boy.

Bakers, you have...

[beeps melodically]

...forty-five minutes and it starts now.

Go!

-Truly, now. Go!
-Okay.

[Jacques laughs]

My adrenaline just kicked in so hard.

Pie dough.

Jacques, how would you go about
making these little gnome pies?

They have to make the dough
in the food processor,

and make both their pie crust
and gnome decoration out of it.

Then, form the crust,
cover it with parchment paper,

and fill it with dry beans to help
hold the crust shape while baking.

Next, they should make
and chill their pudding for the filling.

When the crust is done,
fill it with the pudding,

making sure to remove the beans first.

And then, finally,
add the coconut topping and decoration

to complete your delicious,
adorable gnome home.

Ambitious.

-Very ambitious.
-"Ambitious" is exactly the right term.

Very excited for the pie challenge.
This is like a crazy dream.

It's also, like, scary because
the expectations are probably very high.

This is literally like a dream come true.

This is the first-ever
pie challenge on Nailed It!.

I'm a pie-oneer!

[laughs]

I'm still trying to calm down
and I'm still, like, so overly excited.

[laughs]

[snorts, laughs]

Gonna put the pie dough mix
in the food processor

and get this going
with some of the shortening.

If I can figure out how to open it.

There we go.

I'm definitely out of my comfort zone.

I have not made pie before.

So, this is going to be interesting.

I don't know what textures
to play with with pies

or how long
a pie crust is supposed to bake.

This is also my first time using
this huge food processor.

So, my plan is to have fun.

[laughs]

Says to pulse it. Why am I pulsating it?

That's not mixing.

Thanh is using the wrong equipment.
He's using a stand mixer.

It says in the instruction,
use the food processor.

The dough will be less flaky and harder.

Oh.

Oh, it says a food processor.

Ah, it'll work.

[laughs]

These do not look like

a mushroom and an elf.

[chuckles]

Mushroom, mushroom.

Oh, there we go.

"Line the pie with parchment
and fill with dried beans."

Dried beans?

[Teri] Oh, my God. No, oh, no.

Let's just put these in the oven.

Never trust beans, all right?

That I learned
from Jack and the Beanstalk.

There are giants in the sky.

I don't wanna bring them down,
I don't want them to stomp on my pie.

I won't do anything with the beans.

Feel like I might have just failed it.

[laughs]

I've never baked
with parchment paper and beans.

Jacques, why are they putting beans
in the pie crusts?

It's called blind baking.

You put a piece of parchment paper,
you put the beans, and you bake the pie.

That's going to press the dough down.
Sometimes the dough bubbles.

-Ah.
-[Jacques] The beans will prevent that.

After it cooks, they must remove them
before filling their pie.

So, it's like a weighted blanket
for lonely people.

-Pretty much, Nicole.
-[June] I love those blankets.

Now, could you use marbles
or a set of keys?

Does it have to be beans?

A set of keys. [chuckles]

[laughs]

Oh.

[Jacques] Thanh didn't put
parchment paper over his pie.

-[Nicole groans]
-Ooh.

[Jacques] The beans will
bake into the crust

and be very difficult to get out.

I didn't come here to eat beans.

[Nicole] Oh boy.

Oven, oven, oven.

-Twenty minutes!
-Oh, great.

I'm about to put it in the oven
until it's brown.

-Raaya finally put her pie in the oven.
-[Nicole] Ah.

[Jacques] She's the last one to put it in.

Do you think we're gonna get
undercooked pie crusts?

We might.

What is pi in math?

I know it's 3.14.

But why do I know that?

I don't want to enter
into this conversation on camera.

[chuckles]

[laughing]

I'm working on the filling.

Hopefully, it can come together
'cause we're short on time.

But we're here to have fun.

That does not look right whatsoever.

Why aren't you setting?

No? Oh, well.
This is gonna have to go in the fridge.

I still have to make
this other element here.

It really is like
an out-of-body experience.

It'll be fun to watch
'cause I dunno what's happening.

I'm such a fangirl of this show
that it's just really like...

It's just too much.

I would eat this pudding, though.

Guys, there's 12 minutes left.

You might wanna pick up the pace.

Remember, there's money on the line.

Yeah, yeah, I would like that.

Yes, taxes will be taken out,
but it's more money.

[laughing]

My God, look how gorgeous.

Ooh, flaky crust.

Pudding, eh?

That looks great.

We absolutely made something.

Uh, the beans.

I can't get all of the beans
out of my pie.

There's about two or three beans left.

[bell dings]

But beans are protein.

[laughs]

I have news for you.

We're going to have some crunchy pie.

This looks good.

[dramatic sound]

Oh, no.

He left the beans in it?

[Nicole] He's left his beans
on the pie crust.

That's a lot of pie.

No way!

[laughs]

-No.
-They're in there.

No, I... I want my beans out.

I signed something
before we came out here.

Does that contractually obligate me...

-You have to taste everything.
-I have to? [groans]

Good. [chuckles]

I'm gonna try to work on the decorations.

Key word, "try."

Some glitter for our garden.

I don't know if we can quite tell
that it's a gnome.

She might be of gnome descent.

This doesn't look like
a mushroom either, so I'm consistent.

[laughs]

My g-nome is going to be green.

Oh, my mushroom. Where'd my mushroom go?

Oh, that's red.

Thanh, not painting with a brush,
but with the bottle.

-Yeah.
-[laughs]

Let's make it green.

Yeah, make it green, make it green.

[laughs]

This is his outfit, looks good. [chuckles]

And then he needs a little hat.

[laughs] Oops.

-Teri.
-Yeah?

I hear you giggling a bunch over there.

I'm sorry, what?

I don't know, I... [laughs]

Are you feeling really good
about what's happening?

This is a dream come true, even though
I've made the most beautiful mess.

The most beautiful mess!

But I feel... Oh, I just cracked my cookie.

Did you crack your pie dough?
She's using that freeze spray.

[laughs] His eyes just flew off.

Think I should've stuck to painting.

Oh! [laughs]

-[Nicole laughs]
-She's having the time of her life!

[Teri laughs]

-[Raaya] Ha!
-[laughs]

Oh, man.

Uh-oh. 40 seconds! Wow.

[gasps] My gnome broke.

Let's see if we can fix that.

Wow, this is so ugly.

[laughs]

I really just need tape.

Little feet, little feet.

My mushroom's gonna go right...

-Five, four...
-[Thanh] ...here.

...three, two, one!

You're done!

[laughs]

I made one of the ugliest things
I've ever made in my life.

Okay, Raaya.

Let's remember the Garden Gnome
Mini Pie you tried to make.

And let's see what you made.

-[Raaya] Nailed it!
-Oh boy. Raaya.

[laughs] With the decorations,
what ha-happened?

[Raaya laughs]

Well, my gnome...

-Where?
-She was here.

[Nicole] Okay.

This is supposed to be a mushroom.

[Nicole] Okay, I see it.

-Do you?
-That's the only thing I see.

Raaya, you did... something.

-And that's great!
-[laughing]

-Ooh, let's do it, Jacques.
-Okay, Nicole.

Cut right in!

It's definitely underbaked.

Thank you so much.

[Nicole] Ooh. It still smells like dough.

Godspeed.

Oh, it's a bean!

You got a bean?

This is hateful.

-[Jacques groans]
-I tried to get rid of most of the beans.

I... love supporting women and
I want them to really pursue their dreams,

but you should never do this again.

[laughing]

[Nicole] But I think
the pudding had a flavor.

The pudding is instant?

[Nicole] Ah.

Could've been baked a little longer.

But that being said, it wasn't raw.

[laughs] Thank you.

We've got other pies to see.

See you later!

Bye, guys.

All right, Thanh.

Let's remember the Garden Gnome Mini Pie
you tried to make.

Let's see what you made.

[Thanh] Nailed it!

[Nicole laughs]

[Nicole] So, yeah. That's a pie.

There's a cat, a shovel,
and there's a bunch of sticks.

Wait, there's no gnome.

-The gnome is here.
-[Nicole] Ah.

-I love the French fry on top.
-[June] Yeah.

Looks like something really horrible
has happened in this garden.

I think we're seeing the aftermath.

[laughing]

Let's go for it, Jacques.
Let's cut into it.

Oh, we have a surprise there, Nicole.

-What?
-We have a nice surprise of black beans.

-Thank you.
-Thank you, question mark.

[Nicole] That's a lot of beans!

[laughs]

May I ask why you kept the beans in?

I didn't read the recipe, to be honest.

[laughs]

It's kinda like a watermelon seed.
You spit 'em out.

Wow. This is unexpected.

Mm-hmm. You can't leave
uncooked beans in something.

I don't know if it's the piece that I got,
but I have a nice color here.

-[Nicole] Mine's delicious.
-[Jacques] Yes.

It's actually flaky, and light, and good.

[June] Listen, it was an adventure.

Well, welcome to Nailed It!

[laughing]

See you later.

[chuckles]

All right, Teri.

Let's remember the Garden Gnome
Mini Pie you were trying to make.

-Let's see what you made.
-Okay.

Nailed it!

[laughs]

-[Nicole] I don't mean to laugh.
-[Teri laughs]

[Nicole] Okay, the coconut's the grass.

And then it's just, like,
two tie-dyed signs? [laughs]

They're impressionistic artwork pieces.

Could be in a museum.

This is a museum piece.

-[Teri] Ha!
-You're right on that.

You seemed like you were having fun

and I think that might be
represented in this pie.

-Jacques, let's taste that pie!
-Oui, Nicole.

There is no beans, and I love that.

-[June] That's a plus.
-Voila. Merci.

Mm.

-Browning gives flavor.
-Yes!

It's very flaky and light.

I had two bites of this.

-[Nicole] Damn!
-I...I am into this pie.

Yeah, I think the flakiness
really complements the pudding.

-[Nicole] This is nice.
-Yay! Oh, my gosh.

All right, we've seen three pies
and now we have to make a decision.

Bakers, we are ready
to announce our winner.

Jacques, have the gnomes spoken?

-Do we have a winner?
-Yes, Nicole. Yes, we do.

Bakers, the winner is...

-Teri!
-[gasps] What?

[laughs]

[Nicole] Congratulations!

June, tell Teri what she's won.

Teri, make "gnome" mistake.

That's not a garden accessory.

It's your brand new green stand mixer!

Yes! KitchenAid!

And no gnome is complete without a hat.

So, please go collect your one-of-a-kind
golden Nailed It! baker's hat.

[Teri] Okay!

Congratulations.

[laughs]

It's like glitter.

-[Nicole] A lot of glitter.
-[June] Uh-oh.

One challenge down, one to go!

It's time for Round Two!

Bakers, our special guest, June,

has brought a bountiful harvest
from her own garden

to help us explain
our next Nail It or Fail It challenge.

For our next round,

we are gonna "turnip" the difficulty level

and you will need to "romaine" calm

as we challenge you

with an absolutely "radishing" dessert.

So, let's see if you can "parsley"
the test when you make...

[Nicole] A Veggie Patch Veggie Cake!

[laughs]

[Nicole] Yes, you'll recreate
this beautiful garden-themed cake

-and its intricate vegetable crop details.
-[Teri snorts]

It... [laughs]

[Nicole cackles]

[laughs]

[Nicole] Teri, are you okay?

-It's gonna be special.
-Wait till you hear the description.

You'll also have to make
this naughty backyard bunny

who's helping himself
to all of the carrots.

[laughs]

[Jacques] This layered sheet cake has
both carrots and zucchini inside

and use buttercream and cookie crumble
topping for the grass and soil feature.

The rabbit and vegetable details are
a mix of fondant and modeling chocolate.

And to finish, a chocolate cookie fence
borders the garden landscape.

Also, Raaya, after that last round,

we felt like you could use
a little extra help.

So, at your counter,
you have a Dig It button.

When you hit it, your opponents have to
drop whatever kitchen tools they're using

and take up these gardening tools!

And they'll have to work
for three minutes only using these

while you get a chance to get ahead.

Okay.

Remember, there's $10,000
for the winning baker.

You have 90 minutes on the clock
and it starts now.

-Go!
-Okay.

[Raaya] God.

Thank you.

Mm, smells good.

Zucchini.

Measure two cups.

Jacques, how would you go into
making this Veggie Patch Veggie Cake?

This cake has a lot going on.

First, they need
to make their cake batter,

making sure to fold in
the grated carrots and zucchini.

While the cake bakes,

they should grab
the pre-made cookie dough,

roll it out, and create the fence shape.

Once the cookies are in the oven,

it's time to make the green buttercream
and mold the bunny and vegetables.

Finally, they must coat the potato chips
in melted chocolate

before digging in
to assemble their beautiful garden cake.

That's a complicated cake.

Wait, why is there vegetables in the cake?

Yes, carrot cake.

Oh, is it like, shredded?

[laughing]

-I thought it was slices of zucchini.
-[Jacques] I love you.

[laughing]

I do not have extra confidence.

I feel like I have a mark on me,
literally and figuratively,

because I have glitter
falling on my whole body now.

Ah! Oh, God.

Okay, this cake is gonna test us.

Sure no one wants that top.

And we'll take off that end.

I am confident, but I'm also nervous.

I've also never made a carrot cake.

Ta-da. Fancy.

What could go wrong? [laughs]

Hopefully, this works.

I'm eyeballing two cups.

[laughs]

I don't follow instructions very well,
as you can see in round one.

I know my wife will
make fun of me for the beans.

Why do you put the beans in there?
You don't eat beans with pie.

Food processor, first time working one.

-You heard the food processor?
-Yes.

I see the carrots jumping, so I don't
even know if they'll really get in pieces.

Ugh.

We might have
chunks of vegetable in the cake.

Oh boy. This is what I was afraid of.

[laughs]

Is that the best way
to get a veggie in a cake?

I will use a box grater.

Food processor
is going to extract all the water.

You're going to have
too much water into your batter,

and then the batter's going to
not be what it's supposed to be.

-Oh.
-Oh, ew.

[Nicole] Ooh, that is watery.

That might take a long time to cook.

[Thanh] It's a little thin.

I'm going to attempt
to level a cake today,

and we're gonna fold in
the carrot and zucchini.

Even though I've had my cupcake business,

ironically, cakes have been my nemesis.

So, Raaya is doing the right thing.

She's using the box grater.

-And we thought she needed the button.
-Yes.

[Raaya] It looks good.

Hopefully, it comes out good.

Rack 'em, stack 'em.

Okay.

In the oven.

An hour left, you guys!

So, "Roll out cookie dough."

Cookie dough. Need two fences.

This is very well wrapped.

[laughs]

This is the cookie dough.

We're gonna roll him out.

These are going
to turn into the fence, hopefully.

White.

So, Thanh is painting his cookies
before they go in the oven

to give it the weathered look.

Oh, good.

Oh, my gosh.

This is actually coming out semi-close
to what it's supposed to look like.

The Nailed It! gods are on my side so far.

Push that on here too.

Just for dirt. All right.

Here we go.

It's done.

Let's make a cookie.

Got some green dye.

[Teri] Smells really good.

I'm gonna take that
and say it looks really cute.

Cream cheese.

Oh boy.

Thanh put cream cheese in his buttercream.

-Was it a cream cheese buttercream?
-No.

[laughs]

[Jacques] How much color did he put in?

Thanh, what color would you say that is?

Just fresh grass.

-Not old. New, young grass.
-Fresh grass.

It's definitely the color of grass
after a dog's peed on it a bunch.

-Right?
-[dog barks]

[laughs]

Gotta get the cake, gotta get the cake.

Jacques, do you ever,
when you're baking at home,

time yourself for fun?

[laughs]

-[Nicole] Do you?
-No.

[laughs]

Oh. Probably too long.

Cakes were probably
a little too long in convection.

[Jacques] The convection oven
cooks faster,

so Teri's cake may be overdone.

But Raaya's cakes are still in the oven.

She's falling behind.

I'm gonna assemble, see how it goes.
Gonna make an art project, right?

Let's see how this goes.

[Thanh] Looks...

weird.

[Jacques] Thanh's cakes
still look wet from those veggies.

Ah, Nicole, they never learn.

Thirty-five minutes...

Goodness, now I'm stressing out.

...to make all your little vegetables
in the vegetable garden.

The clock is moving very quickly.

I have to take my cakes
out of the oven right now.

I think I'm gonna hit the button.

-Dig it!
-Uh-oh!

Stop baking,
and pick up your gardening tools!

Oh, perfect.

I got this.

Sorry, guys!

She said sorry. She's sorry for them.

[laughs]

Okay.

[June] Raaya got her cake out of the oven.

Perfect.

Cut.

This just brings back memories
of redoing my backyard.

Honestly, I think
the shovel's working in his favor.

-A lot better.
-[Nicole laughs]

Oh, it's sinking in the middle.

All right. You're finished.

You can put down the gardening tools.

Handy now, though.

This shovel worked
really well for the fence.

Teri's added the fence around her cake,
but it's taller than the cake.

Ooh.

I don't know if she's having trouble
with neighbors or...

[laughing]

Oh, no. It looks like
Raaya's cakes are caving in the middle.

Are we going to eat raw cake?

[Nicole] I hope not.

I hope not too.

It looks like my nemesis...

has foiled me again.

[chuckles]

This is gonna have to be the veggies.

Okay. I still have to make
a bunny and do chips.

So, let's put some things on here.

Those are cute, right?

[Raaya] There's all kinds
of vegetables in there.

Cute little corn husks.

Little carrots.

That would make Bugs Bunny proud.

[laughs] He doesn't have an eye or a face.

-Thanh is doing his rabbit!
-Jacques, I would like to see you hop.

-[June] I know I'm just a guest judge.
-Okay, okay.

-[Nicole] I'll hop with you.
-Great.

Oh, that's great.

-[Nicole and Jacques chuckle]
-That's just great!

-Can I judge it?
-Yeah.

[June] Okay, all right.

You know, I have to say,

I think Nicole is the best hopper.

-Oh, my God.
-You did it.

Thank you. I just want
to thank the hopping academy.

Thank you, June.

You're welcome.

Five minutes remain!

Walking. Walking very fast.

This is just gonna have to do for grass.

Coming together.

My rabbit is resting.

Okay.

Okay, he's making
the potato chips stone path.

Ah.

Ol' chip, chip, chip.

Crumble, crumble, crumble.

[sing-song] Beautiful garden.

You guys have 45 seconds left!

Oh, man. We got kind of a bunny.

I'll take kinda bunny.

I'll give him a face.

-Thanh's bunny looks like a Peep.
-[bird chirping]

Of course, we got glitter.
I told you we gotta add some pizzazz.

He does need a little carrot though. Okay.

We have big pumpkins.

Got to add some dirt.

Oh, my God.

Five, four, three, two, one!

You're done!

[sighs]

Raaya, you're up first. Wheel him on over.

This is the Veggie Patch Veggie Cake
you were trying to make.

Let's see what you made.

Nailed it!

-[splutters] Raaya.
-[Jacques laughs]

[Nicole] Okay.

So, it's a broken fence.

[Raaya laughs]

-[Nicole] Do you have your rabbit?
-[Raaya] The rabbit is resting.

-It's... It's in a sinkhole?
-[laughs]

Maybe the cake was not baked enough
and you think they sunk in the center?

[Raaya] It did sink in the center.

It should be viewed, I think, from up top,

looking down over it,
because so much of it is in the sinkhole.

I like it. You have all the elements.

-Honestly, it's pretty wild.
-[laughs] Yes.

I'm truly excited to taste it,

but for now, I'm gonna send you
back to your station.

All right, Thanh, you're up next.

Let's see the Veggie Patch
Veggie Cake you made.

[Thanh] Nailed it!

Thanh!

[laughs]

[Nicole] That's fun to look at!

[Jacques] I wonder in which planet
rabbits look like that.

Your bunny is deranged.

I like him.

He's a strong rabbit.

He's a strong rabbit, yes.

I like that the pumpkins
all have little hats

and little green berets on top of them.

So, the grass is this, like,
biohazard green color.

Honestly, yeah, you've all the components.
I think this looks pretty good.

Thank you.

Thank you, Thanh.

Teri, you're up next.

Let's see what you made.

-[Teri] Nailed it!
-Teri!

[Nicole laughs]

Oh, Teri, I don't mean to laugh,
but this looks like a graveyard.

-Dun-dun-dun!
-[screaming]

[laughs]

I see the rabbit and I believe
he's holding a... Is that an Easter egg?

-He's got a carrot.
-Oh, that's a carrot?

-[Teri] It's got a little carrot.
-It's a lot to wrap the mind around.

[laughs]

I think that you're very generous
with the sparkling decoration.

Looks like you had fun making it.

All right, you can go back
to your station.

Fab.

And we're gonna have the three of you guys

slice us a delightful piece
of your garden cakes for us to taste.

I feel good about this cake, even though
it looks like an old graveyard.

[laughs]

[Teri] I like scary things. It works.

So, now is the moment of truth.

All right, Raaya, you're up first.

I like the cake. The cake is very moist.

The buttercream is extra sweet.

I think this cake is really tasty.

Yes, it's super sweet.

That said, I like it.

And I'm getting, like,
little pieces of the carrot,

which I love.

This cake is very tasty.

It's very moist.

I do agree
the buttercream is a little sweet.

But that being said, I did not mind it,
and I'm gonna go back for seconds.

-Yay!
-[Nicole] Thank you, Raaya.

Thanh, you're up next.

Here's that color.

So, moist cake.

It's a little bit sweet,

but I do like the cream cheese
with the carrot cake and zucchini cake.

Goes well with it.

A little too moist for my liking.

I don't know
if it's the little slice I got,

but it was a little too wet.

I didn't mind the taste as much as June.

Overall, you should
be proud of it. It's nice.

It's an edible cake.

-It's cake.
-Yes, at the end of the day, it is a cake.

[Nicole] Thank you so much.

Teri.

-Yeah?
-You're up next.

The center of the cake is good.

But when you arrive to the top
of the cake, it's a little bit harder.

You can see
that it's a little bit overbaked.

-I think the buttercream is fantastic.
-Buttercream is good.

-I think it's my favorite buttercream.
-[Nicole] I agree with June.

I like the buttercream.
I think it's really nice.

Um, I do think
the cake was a little overbaked.

It was definitely drier
in comparison to the other two.

Um, overall, I think you did a nice job.

First time making a carrot cake,
so thank you.

All right. We saw
three pretty good carrot cakes.

Judges, are we ready
to announce the winner?

Oui, oui.

Just a reminder, whoever wins
this challenge gets $10,000

and the Nailed It! trophy.

Wes!

[banjo music playing]

[laughing]

[twanging sound]

[Jacques laughs]

Oh boy, this really tickled my fancy.

All right, June, do you have the cabbage?

[Nicole] All right, Jacques?

[Jacques] Bakers,
I have to tell you, none of those cakes

look like the cake
that we asked you to do.

So, we base our decision
on the flavor of the cake.

The winner is...

-Raaya.
-[mouths silently]

[cheering]

Oh, my God. I won.

-[Nicole] Go get your trophy!
-[Teri] Whoo-hoo!

This competition brought back
the fun in baking.

Another battle of Raaya versus the cake,
and I actually won, guys.

Thank you, thank you. Thank you so much.

Well, that's another sunset
over the Nailed It! farm.

See you on the next one.

Everybody, bunny hop!
