Moonshiners (2011–…): Season 1, Episode 3 - The Law Comes Knockin' - full transcript

Equipment failure and an intruder threaten Moonshiner Tim and his partner Tickle's first run of moonshine. Law enforcement agent Jesse Tate busts a nip joint. Moonshining legend Popcorn Sutton runs some 'shine the old-fashioned way.

Hidden deep within

The hollows of a forgotten

Corner of America...

A battle is raging.

This is probably the most

Paranoid time it is.

It's moonshine

Season...

A season lived under the gun.

We in the hunt.

We're gonna stay in the hunt.

We've been in the hunt for a

Long time.

Only takes one mistake.

One mistake, and you messed up.

Today, moonshining

Is a $100 million-a-year

Industry, tax-free.

Yeehaw!

If you really love your

Country, you're gonna have to

Love moonshine.

In this episode,

Tim's under the gun to deliver

80 gallons to his distributor

In 24 hours.

You hear that noise?

And Jesse gets his

First big bust of the season.

Police! Drop your weapons!

Drop your weapons!

You're getting ready to go to

Jail.

*bleep*

Tim closes in on

His first batch of 'shine.

But the pickup threatens to go

South.

You probably may find

Somebody driving around up

There.

Is the guy up there?

You seen anybody yet?

Just keep your eyes open, your

Ears open.

Okay.

Hey, tickle?

Police! Stop!

Fire!

Moonshine is a part of our

History.

It exists, but it doesn't,

Almost like a myth.

Bootlegging is more risky

Now.

All right.

You're gonna win, or you're

Gonna lose.

Is that a cop?

Change vehicles and change

Tags -- that's what you got to

Do.

It's the end of the season.

Money's running out, and we got

To do something to make some

More.

Every day it look like I'm

Getting deeper.

I'm trying to get out of the

Getting beaten.

This is how we make the

Moonshine.

That first point of lighting

It up, we'll be looking around

And checking things to see what

Anything comes up on us.

In the mountains of

Southwestern Virginia,

Moonshiner Tim and his partner

Tickle have just fired up their

Still for the first time.

Tim is a living legend.

Word is that Tim makes the best

Moonshine in the region.

Now, Tim has been in

Moonshining a long time.

It's just good liquor.

It's all smooth, and you'd go

Pay really high dollar in your

Grocery store or liquor store

For something that tasted this

Good.

And it's a whole lot stronger,

Too.

But the clock's

Ticking.

They have less than 24 hours to

Brew, proof, and jug the

Moonshine before Tim’s

Distributor arrives.

We got to hurry up and get to

Making something here.

I know.

Everybody wants some damn

Liquor.

The bootlegger, or

Runner, is a transporter

Contracted by a middle man to

Run the jugs of liquor from the

Still site to a location known

As a stash house.

What's -- you hear that

Noise, tickle?

I heard something.

I did, too.

You hear that?

Yeah.

For a moonshiner,

Shutting down a still mid-run

Can be a death blow.

One still can make up to

100 grand per season.

Let's shut it down.

But Tim and tickle

Have no choice.

They shut down the still.

They need to figure out if it's

An innocent trespasser or an

Undercover agent.

Now's not the time to make

Moonshine.

It's time to head home.

We'll come back, and we're

Gonna have to look.

Yeah, see if he comes back

In.

Yeah.

While Tim shuts

Down, ABC agent Jesse Tate is

Locked and loaded and ready to

Take down his first nip joint of

The season.

A nip joint is a place where

Illegal moonshine is sold by the

Shot or by the drink.

This nip joint has been known

For illegal sell of alcohol.

A large amount of gambling's

Been going on, some drug

Activity, but mainly gambling

And illegal sell of alcohol.

Jesse and the ABC,

Virginia's alcohol beverage

Control, have been prepping for

This for months.

Tonight's objective -- we'll

Obtain a search warrant after

The c.I.S see the illegal

Activity taking place.

Yes, sir.

Then, two

Confidential informants, or

C.I.S, were sent into the nip

Joint to purchase alcohol.

They have gone in.

They have made contact.

They've bought liquor.

So now we're gonna come back

Out, debrief them, and we'll get

A search warrant.

With the search

Warrant in hand, they can now go

Back and storm the nip joint.

We do know based on the

Under covers that have been

Inside that there are about 40

People in there, very

Intoxicated now.

There have also been reports of

Two girls getting ready to cut

Each other with a knife.

So we know there are weapons on

The inside.

We know there's drunks.

So it could get pretty violent

Pretty quick.

Man, I'm tired.

Man, I am, too.

It has been a long day already.

Tim and tickle

Hunker down for the night after

Seeing the armed man in the

Still site.

Been a long day.

I know it.

I'm ready to get some of this

Chicken, man.

Man, I am, too.

With time ticking

On the bootlegger's arrival, Tim

Can't afford a misstep.

You know, I heard about them

Guys being -- ABC agents acting

Like they're hunters.

Could be one of them guys.

I know it.

And that ain't good, because

Somebody got that close to us,

We didn't even realize he was

There.

Yeah.

I thought, man, we done got

Busted already.

We should have ran out there and

Found out who it was, but we

Done lost so much time, we got

To get back and get this thing

Going.

Yeah, this thing's got to go.

We got to go, 'cause the

Man's coming, and I can't stop

Him.

I can't call him.

I don't even know who the guy

Is.

You know, this guy that wants

This stuff, he's sending a new

Driver.

And I have no idea who the guy

Is.

I hope he finds the place.

You know, I don't even like him

Getting that close to the still

Site.

This guy may be, you know, an

Undercover guy that's coming to

Pick up the loot.

He's gonna have all the

Moonshine.

Yeah, I mean, you know, I let

You deal with all that because

You are a veteran here.

Yeah.

All right?

At least I got some chicken,

Though.

Yeah.

Anything may change.

It may change at a moment's

Notice.

That guy come in don't look

Right, be ready.

Right now, we're getting

Pretty close to the target.

We are getting ready to get out

And execute this search warrant

For the illegal sell of alcohol

And gambling in the city.

This has been an ongoing

Investigation, been going on for

Quite a while.

So we're gonna bring it to a

Close tonight, put some people

In jail that need to be in jail.

Yeah, we got the front.

We're gonna cover the front.

Attack team's gonna make entry.

Now is the time to do what we

Get paid to do.

All right. Let's roll.

Go home.

Get your hands up!

Get down on the ground!

Get on the ground!

Police! On the ground!

Get on the ground!

To the left. To the left.

Watch the left.

Get back!

Police!

Stop!

Stop! Stop!

Stay down! Stay down!

All of you!

Hands on top of your head!

Hands on your head!

Hands on your head!

Hands on your head!

I got you.

Coming up...

You're getting ready to go to

Jail.

Shut up.

Who in the hell is that?

Might not be the right guy.

Police! Drop the weapons!

Drop the weapons!

We're gonna cover the front.

Attack team is gonna make entry.

Now is the time to do what we

Get paid to do.

To the left. To the left.

Watch the left. Get back!

Police!

Stop!

Stop! Stop!

Stay down! Stay down!

All of you!

Hands on top of your head!

Hands on your head!

Hands on your head!

No, sir.

Put your hands on top of your

Head.

Look at you.

I'm gonna tell you right now,

You stay right there.

That's okay.

You gonna lay right there.

You're getting ready to go to

Jail.

You just lay right there and be

Quiet.

Chill out. Chill.

Don't you move.

ABC unit 259.

Can you run a custom number,

Check on it?

Shut it.

Hello.

118.

They got us. They got us.

We're on the floor, in the dirt.

Did you hear me?

Do you have a name that I can

Check local with?

I don't care if you in the

Dirt.

Get ready to be in a police car.

Be quiet.

Well, we'll take care of

That fool.

Now that the

S.W.A.T. Team has done their job

And secured the nip joint, Jesse

And the ABC agents take over.

Let's talk to this girl right

Here.

You next?

All right, turn around.

All right.

I have the search.

You having way too much fun.

Keep your hands up.

You drunk, or are you always

This happy?

Yeah.

Business been good up here

Tonight?

Well, it looks like it has been.

Okay.

'cause I can tell you right now,

You're about 30 seconds from

Being intoxicated enough to go

To jail.

You understand me?

You understand it?

Can I --

No, you need to leave.

You don't understand me.

You'll get it. Work it out.

Somebody up there will get

It.

This is somebody's knife.

I know what -- that come off

The prostitute.

Yeah.

"I cut them boxes at work."

Uh-huh. That's what she said.

She said, "I'm a working

Girl."

You know what that means.

Jesse's hit the

Jackpot.

He's recovered guns,

Prostitutes, and illegal

Moonshine.

Now Jesse needs to find where

The illegal booze came from and

Trace it back to the woods where

It was made.

Probably about a total of, I

Think, about 37 charges are

Gonna come out of this nip

Joint.

So this was a very successful

Long-term operation, and my

Hat's off to the agents that put

A lot of hard work into this

Sting.

Tim’s miles away.

He and tickle head back to the

Still site to track the armed

Man they saw the day before.

Let's try to follow this guy

The way he came.

He went down that way.

Yeah.

It was a hunter.

That's what we think it is,

Anyway.

It was a guy in camouflage.

He was walking slowly through.

He had his rifle on his back.

He never stopped.

He never looked to our

Direction.

For every hour that

They're down, thousands of

Dollars hang in the balance.

He was here, too.

Yeah, see, right here is the

Heel.

He probably headed up this way.

Yeah, I figured this guy

Probably followed this path

Right here where he came from.

Guy might have walked in.

I don't know if he drove in.

I don't see any tracks.

He could have come from

Anywhere around through here.

But be hard to say where he come

From now.

I really think the guy is

Just hunting.

And I don't think he really saw

Anything.

I feel pretty comfortable with

That.

You know, people all the time

Hunting this time of year.

So maybe they're scouting out.

Maybe it's turkey hunting.

But I'm gonna follow up on it,

Anyway, just to know who it is.

I like to know where he lives

And what's going on there, so if

Anything comes out, I know where

He's at.

Let's head back to that still

Site.

Maybe we just tighten

Everything up, start running

Something.

Okay.

Kind of paranoid, anyway.

That's just natural.

No need to run yet.

So we good to go.

Night falls.

Tim makes his move.

I've got my running shoes on

Today, just in case.

Delaying the

Bootleggers' pickup any longer

Could mean thousands of dollars

Down the drain.

I'm gonna go walk around,

Look around a little bit, see if

Anybody's close by.

Most times, you can make a lot

Of noise.

It's just at nighttime, when

Everything gets quiet, and

You're trying to run the still

Then, people can hear you then,

Because everyone is quiet.

You know, it's not planes flying

Over.

It's not traffic running up and

Down the road.

In the country, you can just

Listen and hear things that's

Not sounding right.

That's when the ears go up and

Like, "What is that?

What's going on in the woods?"

I hear a truck off to a

Distance.

Which that's okay.

That's normal.

Early in the morning, that's all

Right.

Long as it doesn't stop.

Nothing to worry about right

Now.

I let you know when time to

Worry.

'cause you won't see me no more.

Be gone.

Coming up...

She might be old, but she

Still cooks.

Tim’s equipment

Threatens to shut him down.

I've got a tank over there

Freezing up, and the gas won't

Come out.

Moonshiners have

Been taken down all around the

Region.

Tim has managed to stay one step

Ahead of the law.

We want to uncover the

Proofing barrel.

So, time is getting right.

We're getting ready to put the

Fire under this thing, and we're

Gonna cook it off.

And I guess you could say it's

Like NASA getting ready to take

Off to the moon.

Let's go to work.

You don't want to turn it on too

Fast at first.

All right.

Go over there and cut my gas.

There was a lot of gas up on

There.

Oh, yeah.

You can see it coming up.

Once the mash

Reaches 175 degrees, the alcohol

Contained inside turns to vapor.

The vapor then travels through a

Pipe to the thump keg, where the

Alcohol doubles in proof.

There, it bubbles through a

Small amount of moonshine held

At the bottom of the barrel.

The alcohol vapor then travels

Through another pipe to a coil

Of copper pipe that sits inside

A barrel of ice-cold water known

As the worm barrel.

Inside the coil, or worm, the

Alcohol condenses into the

Liquid known as moonshine.

Finally, the moonshine is

Transferred to the proofing

Barrel where it's cut with

Water and piped into jugs.

I hear a dog barking

Somewhere.

Everything is pretty distant,

Though, but any time somebody

Unusual comes up when dogs are

Barking, they know what's going

On.

After months of

Planning and weeks of building

While staying one step ahead of

The law, all of Tim and tickle's

Hard work is about to pay off.

The still has been fired up, and

The 'shine is about to start

Flowing.

The risks of moonshine in

There -- there are great risks.

You know, it's just like any

Other thing that you're gonna

Do that's...Well, not legal.

But this is what I've got to do

To help survive.

And I do it because it's

Something that I love.

And...

I mean, what can you replace

Something that you love with?

Nothing.

Get the job done.

That's what we're trying to do.

Make everybody happy.

It's like making bread.

When the time is right, that's

When we take it out.

This is the first coming out.

That's really, really, really

High stuff right there.

It's probably like 180 proof of

Stuff.

It's got just about a pure

Ethanol off the top.

One slip-up for Tim

Could be deadly.

If brewed improperly, moonshine

Can be lethal.

Moonshine has been known to pack

A deadly punch.

This is because the first few

Ounces of moonshine produced,

Known as the high end or the

Head, contain methanol, which is

A form of methanoic acid.

It is the same toxic chemical

Found in wasp stings.

If the moonshiners fail to throw

Away the head and the

Methanol-tainted moonshine is

Consumed, it can damage the

Optical nerve and cause

Blindness.

We may catch us about 5

Gallons out of there.

And we'll pitch that.

We'll get rid of that.

The middle is what we want.

You got the high end and the

Low end, so on the high end, you

Don't want that.

On the tail end, the tails, you

Don't want that.

You just want the middle cut.

You want the prime out of it.

All of it's got alcohol in it.

But you want the good stuff in

The middle.

I'm gonna switch with that jar

Right there and see what some of

That stuff looks like.

Get rid of this.

Legendary

Moonshiner popcorn Sutton had a

Special way of distilling his

'shine.

*bleep*

Yeehaw!

Famous for making

Potent liquor, popcorn Sutton

Was known to jug moonshine as

High as 160 proof.

One bottle of popcorn's

160-proof moonshine is equal to

Two bottles of jack daniel's

Whiskey.

Mmm!

Whew.

She cooking.

Yeah, she's cooking.

Little bit of leak right in

There.

That much --

It ain't big.

Soon as it gets hot, see,

That'll seal 'cause of the

Pressure.

Pressure push it against, and

That seal up tight.

Yeah, you see it right there?

Uh-huh.

Yeah.

It's just a little bit right in

There.

That's the only place I got

That's a little problem.

Suddenly, there's a

Leak in the copper pipe.

Tighten on there.

All right.

Do a mack out on it there.

Here, put that rubber on there

First.

That'll put a seal on it.

And then I put the tape, put

Pressure, hold it -- hold it in

There.

All right, you keep the fire

Going.

Think I'm ready to start

Catching something.

Sounds good.

All right.

When it's coming out of there,

It's money going in the bucket.

And it's going in the barrel and

Going in the jug.

And hopefully the guy shows up

To pick it up, too, you know.

'cause I don't want to get stuck

With this finished product.

'cause I don't need it.

I don't want it.

I just want the money.

I just need the money right now.

So I don't need the product.

You can see there's a little

Bit of stuff floating around in

There.

First filter didn't catch

Everything.

I might have had something in

The bucket, too.

But the next filter should catch

That.

So the first bucket, about two

Gallons in there.

So, whoo, got a long ways to go

Yet.

Tim pours the

Moonshine through another

Filter, a simple pillow case.

Once this is complete, Tim

Should have about 80 gallons of

Moonshine proofed and jugged.

Moonshine is fresh.

As soon as it comes out of the

Still, it's already cooled down

To under 75 degrees.

That's where it changed back to

Its liquid form, and it's ready.

It's not like your bourbon,

Jim beam, or anything like that.

It doesn't have to be aged or

Anything, so it's fresh.

So as soon as we proofed it

Down and we got the proof that

We want, we jug it.

It's ready right now.

And the proofing barrel is ready

To drink, right out of the

Proofing barrel.

You had your dipper in, you

Could dip you some out like

Water if you wanted to.

When you go to take a swig of

Something that's 100 proof or

Somewhere around there,

Sometimes it can take your

Breath.

To me, 100 proof is nothing.

To a whole lot of people, 100

Proof is nothing.

You can buy that in the liquor

Store.

But it don't taste this smooth

And don't taste this good.

This is what you want.

In the middle, it'll be the

Cleanest and smoothest.

Even though the

Still pot holds 800 gallons of

Mash, only 10% will end up as

Moonshine.

Looks like that tank over

There is freezing it.

But now there's

Another problem.

See, we're running this thing

With no regulator.

And normally you have a

Regulator there for, like, a gas

Grill or something.

But we're running a straight

Line.

So the stuff comes out of that's

Cold.

And what'll happen is it'll

Freeze up, and the gas won't

Come out.

The moonshiner

Practice of running propane

Tanks at full flow without a

Regulator can cause the tank's

Valve to freeze.

I notice it's slowing up a

Little bit, so that's what's

Happening.

To remedy valve

Freeze-up, some moonshiners keep

The propane tanks warm over an

Open flame.

It's a practice that's caused

Deadly still-site explosions.

So we take some of the warm

Water that's off of the worm

Over there and pour on it to

Warm it up a little bit.

That's just another -- something

You got to keep busy at.

Coming up...

Moonshine begins to flow from

Popcorn's still.

I betcha money it's 190

Proof.

Oh, yeah.

There ain't nothing right

There.

And Tim’s first run

Isn't up to snuff.

We're picking up a lot of

Water vapor in that.

If you pour that in a proofing

Barrel, you mess the whole thing

Up.

Few people realize

That moonshining isn't just

Limited to backwoods America.

It goes all the way to the white

House.

President Franklin Delano

Roosevelt was known to drink

Moonshine with the locals while

On vacation in warm springs,

Georgia.

George Washington not only drank

'shine, he owned his own still.

And even though president

Warren g. Harding voted for

Prohibition, he had moonshine

Delivered right up to the

White house.

In just two hours, Tim’s buyer

Expects to pick up 80 gallons of

Moonshine.

After a shutdown and equipment

Trouble, Tim needs this run to

Go off without a hitch.

Guess what.

That's some high, high-octane

Stuff, 'cause we got a spider

Fell in there.

Look at that.

He's trying to move.

Granddaddy long leg.

He's drunk.

Yeah, he's drunk.

He may wake up.

I'm gonna draw a little bit out

In this jar, just check it, son.

That's enough there.

Smell that.

Mmm! That's good stuff.

Strong.

Golly.

Yeah.

Mm.

Let's check it.

You know, we just looking at it

The old-fashioned way.

It looks pretty good.

The best

Moonshiners in history could

Determine the liquor's proof

Simply by shaking the jar.

Shaking the jar is an old-school

Method of determining the

Liquor's proof.

Now, you talk about some high

Shots.

I'd bet you money it's 190

Proof.

Oh, yeah.

Using this method

Is an art that takes a lifetime

To master.

Well, if they come up like

That in big beads and go away

Real, real fast, that means the

Higher the proof, the faster

They go away and the bigger they

Are.

As the liquor

Leaves the still, its potency

Dilutes.

Popcorn numbers the jars

According to the potency of the

Liquor.

See, as you go backwards,

That means it's higher.

I got a number-10 jar here.

Number 9's higher than that was.

Number 8's higher than 9 was,

All the way back, see.

The whiskey'll get

Tempered or diluted to make it

Suitable for drinking.

I don't know one man that can

Temper liquor as good as I can

Or better.

See, it tastes altogether

Different once it's tempered.

Floyd, did you smell the jar of

This?

That tastes almost good

Enough to drink.

Yeah.

It's 170 or better.

We're gonna check it with a

Hydrometer to see what it proofs

At right now.

I want to keep this one.

90 seems to be what everyone is

Asking for.

You don't want it too hot.

And then you don't want it too

Light.

'cause people don't think

They're getting their money's

Worth if it's too light.

A little bit high.

You see it.

Sitting about 110 right there.

The final step in

The process before the runner

Arrives is proofing.

Tim is using a hydrometer,

Which is a more scientific way

Of proofing.

It works by measuring the amount

Of water in the alcohol.

The more water, the lower the

Proof.

110 proof is 55% alcohol.

We need to cool it on down

To about 90, so, you know...

Get me those two jugs of water I

Got over there.

All right.

I got two jugs of water.

We'll check it with that.

We've got some good clean water

That we brought with us.

Yeah, just dump that back over

In there.

I really can't show you

Everything we do, because we're

Gonna get in trouble with the

Law.

Make sure this is right before

We jug it up.

See, when I drop it in. See.

95.

95. That's a good level right

There.

That's good.

Yeah.

Yeah, that's good.

Want a drink?

Might as well.

Got a good flavor to it, too.

Nice and smooth.

Nice and smooth.

Got a little bite to it, a

Little kick.

That's what you want.

You don't want something you

Don't know you ain't drinking.

It's getting pretty close to

The end.

I'm gonna catch some of it and

Look at it.

There ain't nothing right there.

We're picking up a lot of water

Vapor in that.

So we don't want to mess it up.

You pour that in a proofing

Barrel, you mess the whole thing

Up.

Tim hits a

Roadblock.

His first run isn't producing

Enough moonshine.

We done run all we can run

Out of that.

Because he's been

Getting too much water vapor at

The tail end of the first run,

Tim can't waste any time.

Tim adds new sugar and water to

The corn that's already in the

Pot.

By doing so, the mash will

Continue to produce a high level

Of alcohol.

As I roll it up, it's hot on

The bottom.

This is the last chance you get

To stir it.

'cause when you put the cap on,

You won't get to stir it no

More.

That thing is hot now.

That's where you want it -- good

And hot.

Coming up...

We ain't got much time.

...It's a mad dash

Before the buyer arrives.

Oh, we still got a whole lot

In that proofing barrel yet.

And Jesse has a new

Moonshiner in his sights.

I know we picked up some

Other intel just other night

About some activity moving right

Here.

Tim and tickle are

Closing in on their goal of 80

Gallons.

But Tim lost time when the first

Run didn't produce enough

Moonshine, forcing him to start

Another batch.

Hit that right there a little

Bit.

I'm getting a little bit

Nervous.

That'll take the edge off.

That's for sure.

Whew!

Good god.

I'm trying to hurry up and get

Down here before it gets too

Bright.

I'm getting edgy.

And that guy is gonna be coming

In a little while, too.

So we ain't got much time.

It's gonna take us a while.

So I think we need to go on and

Get started here.

You just hand me a jug there and

Have it ready.

Time's up.

Tim and tickle have to get 80

Gallons of moonshine bottled in

A little over an hour.

How many more jugs you got

Over there?

I got three more over here,

But I got plenty more.

Okay.

We'll get these three.

Yeah, we'll get these three

Right here.

I want to count and see how many

We got.

Some moonshiners

Use mason jars to bottle their

'shine.

But most moonshiners use

One-gallon plastic milk jugs.

They don't break, and they're

Easy to transport.

Jesse's on a roll.

The nip-joint bust paid off.

Now Jesse has a new lead.

He's been tipped off that a big

Moonshine distillery is

Operating in Halifax county,

Virginia.

That's less than 40 miles away

From Tim.

What I thought we'd do this

Morning is just kind of put it

To the map versus the areas that

They're operating in and see if

We can kind of put a few more

Pieces of the puzzle together.

Tonya, I know you've been

Checking on some activity.

You got that complain about some

Heavy smell of mash in the area.

Were you able to follow up on

Anything on that?

Yeah.

Went through there a couple

Nights ago.

It might be coming from a paper

Mill or something that's in the

Area.

A lot of times, they burning

That wood to fire the paper

Mill, and citizen thought maybe

Somebody was making liquor in

The neighborhood.

That's right.

It does have a pretty

Distinct odor.

When mash is fully

Cooked, it smells like freshly

Baked cornbread.

I know we picked up some

Other intel just the other night

About some activity moving right

Here.

Let's go ahead and get suited up

In camo.

We'll drop off, and we'll check

This location, and hopefully we

Can find this stash.

I really do think we might can

Work it back to the liquor

Still.

This worm right here is about

25 years old.

We've been running it, but it's

Always made good liquor, so we

Keep it.

We're gonna have a lot of drunk

Bees around here.

That's coming out pretty good.

That's doing real good.

The bootlegger's

Set to arrive in less than an

Hour.

Tim still has 60 more gallons to

Fill.

Once a bootlegger arrives on the

Scene, there's no waiting

Around.

Tim and tickle have less than 60

Seconds to load up the truck,

And the bootlegger is off.

Making sure everything looks

Good.

Now's a good time for the man to

Show up.

Oh.

I'm spilling it here.

Don't want to waste none of

That.

You waste a tablespoon here and

There, it add up to a gallon

Quick.

Hopefully, that guy will be

On time.

We never told him where the

Blind was.

Far as he knows, he ain't gonna

Never be able to find the road

In here.

You probably might find

Somebody driving around up

There.

If the ABC guys are out there in

The woods and they're watching

Everything and they recording

And taking pictures.

They want to get the guy that's

Coming in to load it.

And they want to get the guys

That's cooking, and they want to

Get all the guys that are in

Charge.

They're bringing extra people.

So to bring in a whole lot of

People and surround everywhere.

Want to get them all one time.

It's kind of like the worst

Part.

Yeah.

It's kind of like they're

Listening to you.

Always seems like I keep hearing

Something.

I'm always always hearing

Something.

Coming up...

Run up and find out if this

Is the right guy or not.

Okay, tickle.

Police! Drop the weapon!

Drop the weapon!

While Tim and

Tickle rip and run, 20 miles to

The west, Jesse is locked and

Loaded.

On this particular fire

Scenario, I'm gonna give the

Command to fire.

We'll give verbal commands.

"Police. Drop the weapons.

Police. Drop the weapons."

Two rounds, and we'll do it

Again.

Line's hot.

Fire!

Police! Drop the weapon!

Drop the weapon!

You want to train for what you

Execute.

When you incorporate the real

Life into training, it makes

It all sync up once we go real

With it.

As always, you guys did a

Fantastic job.

I always enjoy a good day on

The range.

Good job, guys.

Thanks a lot.

20 miles to the

North, Tim is racing to bottle

His moonshine before the

Bootlegger arrives.

It was pretty fast, but, you

Know...

Probably looking at a minute a

Jug.

If you're doing 60 jugs, it'll

Take you an hour.

Hour to fill 'em up.

Yeah.

But you kind of excited a little

Bit right now.

So we don't really look at the

Time too much.

Who in the hell is that?

That's bad if he's early.

'cause I ain't got this stuff

Jugged up yet.

We still got a whole lot in this

Proofing barrel yet.

Real good timing.

Real good timing.

Tim still has 15

Gallons left to fill.

I'm not ready.

I'm not ready, and we still

Running this stuff.

Coming up now.

It might not be the right

Guy.

How about you run up there and

Find out?

All right.

Run up there and find out if

This is the right guy or not.

I'll be here waiting on you.

Okay.

Tim and tickle are

On edge.

Because moonshiners don't meet

The bootleggers beforehand, they

Won't know if the bootlegger is

An undercover ABC officer.

Just in case.

I don't know who's around here.

I don't want any accidents.

When you get it all jugged up

And ready and get the most

People here, that's when they

Want to get you, is when you

Finish.

As soon as you finish, that's

When they are waiting for you.

Is the guy up there?

You seen anybody yet?

Yeah, I got him right here,

Tim.

Okay.

Just make sure you know who you

Talking to.

Yeah. This is the scariest part.

This is the part that you get

Kind of paranoid the most.

Just keep your eyes open and

Your ears open.

Okay.

Tickle?

Next time on

"Moonshiners"...

Tim has an overflow of shine

From his first batch...

We definitely got to get rid

Of it.

...And is forced to

Soup up his hot rod to make a

Run of his own.

That thing got more motor

Than the law ever thought about

Having.

Jesse sends in an

Undercover agent for intel on a

King-pin moonshiner.

It can be nerve-wracking.

You're sending people right into

The hornets' nest.

Tim finds out going

Legal is easier said than done.

You got to have a bond of

$200,000.

You don't get that money

Back.

Tim and tickle take

Their chances on the road.

We run into the law right

Now and they want to search the

Car, we gonna have a mess of

Trouble.
