Madagascar: A Little Wild (2020–…): Season 5, Episode 2 - A Little Too Wild - full transcript

‐ Places!

‐ Hmm.

‐ Huh?
‐ Huh?

‐ Look at that giraffe go!

‐ He's like poetry in motion.

‐ Have you ever seen
anything so majestic?

‐ Huh?
‐ Huh?

‐ Am I still being followed?

‐ All that because two little butterflies
flew past you?

‐ There's two of them?

Ah!

Uh, almost there.

Uh! Why won't this gate open?

There, goodness gracious.

Uh, if only outdoor adventure
came with less baggage!

‐ Whoa, she put that tent up superfast!

‐ That was intense… "in‐tents".

‐ Nice.

‐ I forgot how much camping equipment
we had in storage, what a treat!

Ah, speaking of treats,
forgot the marshmallows.

‐ It is important!

Kate's talking marshmallows.

Huh?

‐ Wow, look at all this stuff!

‐ Uh! Camping equipment!
I love camping!

‐ I didn't know you'd been camping!

‐ I haven't, but I have had
a mosquito bite

once or twice in my day,
so, pretty close!

‐ Oh, this sleeping bag
is as snug as a bug in a rug.

‐ Wait! Did you say bug? Uh!

‐ I wonder who the lucky campers are.

‐ I wish we were the lucky campers,

meeting wild animals
like kittens and puppies and koalas!

‐ Uhm, I'm not sure
that's how it goes, but‐‐

Flashlights go over here, Carlos!

One more day to the annual
Kidizen Zoo Camping Trip!

I hope the weather holds out.

‐ It had better!

I've dreamt about s'mores
every night this week!

Er, I mean, I'm so excited
for the Kidizens to experience this trip!

‐ Right.

So first thing tomorrow
we'll check in the campers,

then we'll set up camp
in the zoo woods!

‐ Oh!

I love a good campfire marshmallow!

‐ Keyword being "campfire",

let's save them for the kids, Carlos.

‐ Oh, right. Totally.

Just to be safe, I'd better hide these,

don't want the animals getting them.

Kate! Did you remember
to pack the chocolate?

‐ The coast is clear, Alex!

‐ Alex! We said the coast is clear!

Alex?

Be right out!

‐ Huh?
‐ Huh?

‐ Marshmallow anyone?

‐ There sure are a lot of them.

‐ There is sure a lot of everything!

‐ Probably more than the Kidizens need.

And they don't need any of it
'til their camping trip tomorrow! Hey…

‐ Melman, are you saying
what I think you're saying?

'Cause I'm pickin' up
what you're puttin' down!

‐ I'm smellin' what you're cookin'!

‐ I'm catchin' what you're throwin'!

‐ Huh, I wasn't throwing, cooking,
or putting anything down,

but I was saying we should go camping!

‐ That idea is glorious!

‐ Let's pack!

‐ Yes! As any park ranger will tell you,

there's no such thing as being
over‐prepared for an outing in the woods.

‐ It might take some time to‐‐
‐ Done!

‐ Already?
‐ Me too!

‐ Me three!

‐ I think that's everything!

‐ Wait! Almost forgot!
‐ See?

I'm not the only one who knows how to pack
for the great outdoors

‐ with important equipment like‐‐
‐ My blankie!

Perfect for a picnic.

Okay, all packed.

‐ That's it? You sure you don't need
anything else?

‐ Why would I? Camping is easy,
peasy, marshmallow squeezy.

Now let's go, to the great outdoors!

Hi, Dave! Hi, Pickles!

Would love to chat,
but we're on our way to be wild and free!

‐ We're camping in the woods
on the south side of the zoo!

‐ Not so fast.

You may be wild and free,
but this toll still runs on payment.

What have you got?

‐ May I present you with…
whatever this is!

The spinny thing in the middle
moves like it's got a mind of its own!

‐ It's a compass.

Which, knowing you, you're gonna need.

What we need is the sweet stuff.

‐ Uh, sure! Here's an apple,
carrots and some dates!

‐ Here you go.
‐ Wait!

‐ That's not what we‐‐
‐ Please, I insist.

It's nature's candy!

‐ No! We‐‐

‐ Don't worry, Dave.

We need the real marshmallow‐y deal.

And we're going to get it.

‐ Smell that sweet camp air!

‐ Feel that fresh camp ground!

‐ Ah, listen to that still camp silence!

‐ I met a groundhog and a bird!

‐ What kind of bird?

‐ I have no idea!
But it wasn't a pigeon!

‐ Ooh! Exotic!

‐ Anyone have any paper?

This is the greatest experience
of my life,

and I want to draw everything I see!

‐ There's got to be a notebook in here…

‐ Jeez, what do you need
all this stuff for?

‐ In camping, it's best to be prepared.

‐ Seems like a lot for a few hours of fun!

Speaking of which,
we should head home soon.

It's almost bedtime!

‐ Uh… But we're camping.

‐ Yeah, and I'd love to do it
again someday!

‐ Uhm, Melman, camping is sort of
an overnight thing.

‐ Wait! We're not going home?

How can I sleep here?
I don't have my cozy mat!

‐ That's what the sleeping bags are for.

‐ What if I can't sleep?
What if I freak out?

‐ You won't freak out.
I got you covered, buddy!

‐ We'll all be with you.

‐ Right! Because I never freak out
when I'm with my friends.

Except that time I got stuck
in the firetruck.

And that other time when I almost
got squashed by a New Year's Eve ball.

And today when those butterflies
chased me. And‐‐

‐ Right! But didn't we help
make it better each time?

‐ Yeah, you did. Hey! That's it!

I can enjoy all the fun parts of camping
because I'll be with my friends!

‐ Yes!
‐ Yes!

Who will do everything they can
to make sure I'm completely comfortable

the entire time.

‐ Yeah.
‐ Yeah.

If it's freak‐out‐free,
then this'll be the safest,

most nothing‐scary‐about‐it night ever!

‐ Yeah…
‐ Yeah…

‐ Ugh! Melman,
watch where you're going!

‐ Remind me again what makes this
the best spot for our campsite?

‐ It's close to trees for shade,

but far enough away in case of lightning.

‐ No one mentioned anything
about lightning!

‐ It's not in the forecast,

but I like to prepare
for any possible emergency…

‐ An emergency is possible?
I didn't realize what I was getting into!

‐ No! I just meant
that all the stuff I packed

will make sure no emergencies happen!

‐ So, you brought this in case
of a dino toy emergency?

And this for a puzzle emergency?

‐ These are very important supplies.

Just wait when you get a puzzle
craving later, you'll thank me.

‐ Ok, well, I guess I'll leave you
to your emergency pile.

‐ Watch where you're stepping.

‐ Hello? Hello?

Alex?

‐ Oh, hey, Alex.
How's the tent building?

‐ Nailed it.

‐ Are you okay?

‐ Yeah, this is much easier than it looks.

This tent is for you and Gloria!

Your blankie's in there.
And pillows: extra soft and extra safe!

‐ Huh…

‐ Marty and I will sleep in that one
over there.

‐ Huh?

‐ Thank you. But…

‐ Aw, it was nothing.
Wait, 'but'? But what?

‐ But I'd feel even safer
if my tent was close to yours and Marty's.

‐ But Gloria will be with you.
You'll be safe.

‐ Yep! But having three friends close
is even safer than one!

Please?

‐ Closer… okay.

I can do closer.

Nope, sure don't need any help!
Oof… I'm totally fine!

‐ Thanks, Alex! You're doing great!

It's easier than it looks!

I'm fine.

‐ Nice technique!
‐ Thanks!

Turns out my wood‐stacking
skills are red hot!

‐ Red hot? You aren't planning
on making a real fire, are you?

‐ No, silly, I'm a kid.

I'm building a pretend campfire
that looks just like the real thing!

‐ If it's pretended,
then why are you using real wood?

What if it catches fire
and no firefighters nearby?

‐ How would it do that?

‐ Marty said there could be lightning!

And if a lightning hit the wood,
there could be fire! Right?

‐ Okay, Melman,
if it makes you nervous,

we don't need a pretend fire.

‐ Thanks, Gloria.

‐ You're welcome.

‐ And now for my favorite
part of the evening,

telling spooky stories!

‐ Oops. Sorry, what I meant to say
is telling not‐too‐spooky stories!

‐ Yay!

‐ "Once in a distant land,

there lived a troll in a dark house
on a shadowy hill…"

‐ Excuse me, Alex?
‐ Uh huh?

‐ Do you think you could make
this story a little less spooky?

‐ Um… sure!

You're right, a troll's pretty scary…

Okay, new story!

"Once upon a time in fairy land…"

‐ "A storm began to roll in and‐‐"

Yes, Melman?

‐ Sorry, but I'm not loving
the weather choice.

Maybe make it a cloud‐free,
freakout‐free day?

‐ Hmm. Let me try again.

"…And she stepped slowly to the table
where breakfast awaited her."

‐ "The fairy's mother offered her
more milk…"

"When she looked in the bowl,
she discovered

her cereal was already soggy!"

‐ Stop!

‐ You got spooked?

Ah, that went better than I thought…

‐ No! That's the problem.

It's so unspooky, it's no fun at all!

Melman, you know we love you, right?

‐ I sure do!
‐ And we always want you to be happy.

‐ That's why you're the best!

‐ I don't know how to say this,

but constantly worrying about whether
this campout's is totally freakout free

is making it less fun for the rest of us.

‐ Huh? But I liked the soggy cereal story!

‐ Really?

‐ It was predictable and unsurprising!

It almost put me to sleep!

‐ Camping's not meant to be predictable.

It's about finding adventure
behind every tree!

‐ And survival techniques!

I learned in the Park Ranger Handbook
that you can always find your way

by the light of the north star!

Or sleep in a cave!

‐ Don't we already sleep in a cave?

‐ Yeah, but a new and different cave!

‐ Yeah, camping's all about roughin' it‐‐

‐ I'm more into "softing" it, personally.

‐ And being one with nature!
A chance to be wild.

‐ I don't wanna be one with nature,
or be wild!

I just want to be home, where it's safe,
warm, and quiet…

‐ Feeling better, Melman?
‐ Yeah!

Ready for our next camping adventure?

‐ No, I'm okay.

I'm going to go have
my own adventure in my tent.

So much fun to be had in there!

‐ Melman, wait!
There's got to be something we can‐‐

‐ Come on, let's give him his space.

Help me rebuild the campfire!

‐ Well, since Melman's in bed, I'm ready
for a real spooky story now, Alex.

‐ Really?
‐ Yeah!

I want to know what happens
with that troll!

‐ "Once there lived a troll
who kept to himself,

locked away in a dark house
on a shadowy hill.

His dismal dwelling overlooked
a town that was overrun by zombies!"

‐ It's probably good
you didn't tell Melman this one!

‐ Think calm thoughts.

"One day the troll heard a boom!
Boom! Boom! On his front door…"

‐ Right to sleep,

then in the morning I'll head
straight back to the habitat.

‐ What is that? Gloria? Is that you?

‐ "The troll crept to the door,
opened it with a creak, and‐‐"

‐ What's going on, Melman?

‐ I was in my tent
and I heard a whistling noise!

Something's out there
and it's going to get us!

‐ Deep breaths, Melman. You're safe!

‐ You probably heard Alex
telling his story‐‐

‐ What was that?
‐ See? We're going to be troll snacks!

‐ Not if I can help it!

‐ It was Dave's idea!

‐ See, Melman?
It was just Pickles and Dave!

‐ What are you doing here?

‐ We're here for the sweet stuff.

‐ The marshmallow?

We're about to get some s'mores,
want to join?

‐ So, which one of you
was making that whistling sound?

‐ I don't know how to whistle.
Did you whistle?

‐ Sure you do! You were
whistling outside my tent, like…

‐ Like that!

‐ That wasn't us. We're right here.

‐ If it wasn't you, then who was it?

‐ Melman, I'm sure there's another
totally‐not‐freaky explanation‐‐

‐ What if it's a troll monster?

‐ Technically, the troll wasn't
the monster of my story.

‐ Oh.
‐ Yeah, it was the zombies!

‐ What if it's a zombie!

I can't handle this,
I'm going back to the habitat!

‐ Melman, wait!
You don't know the way back!

‐ Melman! Where are you?

‐ Come back!

‐ Marshmallow!

What?

‐ Let's split up and catch that giraffe!

Dave, Pickles, be on the lookout
from the trees!

‐ Marty, patrol the perimeter
of the campsite!

‐ Got it!
‐ Alex,

check the woods then hit the habitat!

‐ Copy that! What are you going to do?

‐ I'll flick my flashlight on and off.

‐ Uh, no offense, Gloria,
but I don't see how that's going to help.

‐ If Melman sees it,
he can follow it back to the camp.

Now, go!

‐ Okay, Melman, get a hold of yourself.

All you have to do is find the tree
with the zip vines

and if your instincts are right,
it should be right here.

I mean, it's right there!

All these trees look the same!
Where is it?

Oh, no… it's happening.

I'm freaking out!

What did my friends say to do?
Stomp my hooves? Pick my toes?

Oh, I remember.

I just breathe in deep,

follow me, hold it in,
one, two, three.

Then let it out through my mouth,

it'll calm me down…

It worked!

Now, I might be a little lost,
but there's no need to panic.

What did Marty say?

You can always find your way
by the light of the north star.

Whoa, has the sky been always
that beautiful?

Smell that air!

‐ Listen to the sound of wild animals.

Huh, I think I do like camping.

‐ Wait a minute… was that…?

‐ Marty was right!

It was a totally not‐freaky explanation.

That whistling sound
was just a little boy!

And he's a Kidizen!

Huh, they're here early.

‐ Huh?

It's… it's…

the giant mud‐monster of the woods!

‐ Wait, me? A monster?

Wait! There's nothing to be afraid of,
I'm just a giraffe!

‐ Melman!

Melman, where are you?

Great work on your animal drawing!

That looks exactly
like Bill the Flamingo!

‐ Quick, hide!

‐ So glad most of the troop
could come camping a night early!

With the stormy forecast for tomorrow,

we would've been rained out
and missed all this fun,

like drawing pictures!

Come on back, Kidizens!
Bring your drawings!

Carlos, can I get a little help? Carlos?

‐ Hmm, what to draw? What to draw?

Ooh! Wait till the Kidizens
see my masterpiece.

‐ I think I'll draw somewhere else.

Alright, Kidizens!

Time to bring your
nature drawings back to camp!

‐ I'm here hiding from the mud‐monster!

‐ He's scared and alone.

He needs to get back to Kate!
But first, I need to calm him down.

What would make me feel better
if I were a scared, lost Kidizen?

Ah! That's it! My blankie!

‐ Some shadows puppets
might break the ice.

‐ You help me down and I'll clean you up.

‐ Mr. Mud‐monster,
can you take me back to camp?

Then let's ride.

‐ These are such great drawings.

Way to go, Kidizens.

I can't wait to see what Carlos
and Gus found to draw.

‐ We made it!

For me?

Wow, thanks.

You may be a mud‐monster,
but you're not scary at all!

‐ Melman, there you are!
You had us worried!

‐ I was worried, too.
And lost. And scared.

And freaked out!

But I sang the song you taught me
and I used my breath!

Now I know that even
if you're not always with me,

I'll still be okay.

‐ There you are!
Did you find something fun to draw?

‐ Yup! I almost got lost in the woods.

And I was pretty scared.

But then a big, friendly mud‐monster
made me laugh

with the shadow puppets.
He helped me find my way back!

‐ Wow. What a vivid imagination, Gus!

Maybe you should tell
the first campfire story.

‐ Gus, did you see Carlos out there?

‐ A‐ha! Finished.

How long have I been out here?
And… where am I?

Kate? Kate!

I'm right here.

‐ Nice picture.

‐ Gee, thanks.

‐ And then the little boy
called out to his friends,

but they couldn't hear him.

He had strayed too far
from the campfire…

‐ Hmm. That's not good.

‐ He was deep in the woods. Alone.

All he could hear was the sound
of breathing in the dark…

‐ I hate when that happens.

‐ Who was it?
‐ Not who, what.

The boy reached into the darkness,

and touched a ginormous mud monster!

‐ Well, what happened next?

‐ The boy was never seen again.

So? What did you think?

‐ Geez, Melman, did you have to make
your story so scary?

‐ Don't worry, Alex, it was just a story!

‐ Hey! What did I tell you?

No sudden movements!

You can only stay for the story
if you sit very still.

‐ Melman, I don't think butterflies
can understand us…

‐ That's what they want you to think…
