Welcome to story time.

- Who is ready for a story?

Okay.
Would you look at this?

The story I was
planning on reading

is missing some words.

You think you could
help me fill them in?

- Yeah!

Once upon a time
in the land of--

Make up a word.
Just yell it out.

- What do you got?
- Rainbows!

- Koo-Koo Magic.
- Koo-Koo Magic?

What kind of a world is that?

- That's beautiful.
- Okay, so a something and a something--



kind of like
a creature type thing.

- Wait, wait, wait.
- Wait. You wait.

- Mr. Book Chicken.
- Mr. Book Chicken.

And a--

A horse that
could do gymnastics.

- A horse that can do gymnastics.
- What?

Wait, stay with us, Nate.

Don't get too far from the fire.

- You guys feeling that heat?
- No.

No, me neither.
It's fake.

That's the magic of Hollywood.

- Hollywood?
- No, I know.

We're in the valley.
What am I talking about?

Where would they go to eat?

- A bat. A bat.
- Makes lollipops--

- A bat.
- Fart. Um, no. No.

- Fart?
- No! No!

- A rainbow llama poop.
- Nice.

All of a sudden,
a monster appeared.

Give me a scary name,
a scary-sounding name for a monster.

What about taker-waker?

I like that.
Tell me about the taker-waker.

A lady that hides
under their beds

and she has blood
all over her face.

Ooh, that's creepy.

I like darkness.

Okay, well,
that's-- that was unnecessary.

But what a great story.

I mean, sure, it lacks
in depth and nuance,

not unlike a lot of the stuff
that I've been in lately.

But you know what?
We're just having fun, right?

- Yeah!
- Yeah!

- My.
- Hey, guys.

The builders are here.
Come on. Come with me.

My gosh.
It's a bunch of little kids!

We walk in and we
see a group of kids!

I am just so excited.

This could be
my favorite challenge yet

and I don't even
know what it is.

Kids, these are
the people competing

for the $100,000 grand prize

and the title Lego Masters.

Teams, you are just in time
for story time.

- Whoo!
- All right.

These children are here

to help you
with your next build.

Not physically help.

That would break
so many child labor laws.

Am I right, Nate?

No, no, no.
They're here to help

because we just completed
a story together.

I read it, and then they
filled in the missing words.

And now it's up to you

to make their story
come to life.

We survived
the bridge challenge,

and this proves that we
can compete with the best.

But this is different than any
challenge we've done so far,

because the story's
actually being given to us.

How cool is that?

The story that
you guys came up with,

they're going to
build it out of Lego.

So, like,
our brains into their Lego.

Hopefully.

You guys ready for the story
that they came up with?

Once upon a time

in the land of Koo-Koo Magic...

- Yeah.

...a book chicken--

whose idea was the book chicken?

Okay.

And a horse
that can do gymnastics--

- Him.
- That was yours.

- Went looking for some...
- Toys.

- Toys!
- To eat.

To eat!

All of a sudden, a taker-waker

whose house is messy
and filled with all the things

that she has taken away
from the children

appeared and asked,

"Why are you eating
all of my toys?

Those are magical!"

Anyway, that's it.

A tale as old as time.

I do this with my daughters,
and they love to come up

with the most random things,
like taker-waker.

We're all looking around
at each other thinking, like--

- What is that?
- What does that even mean?

You get eight hours
to complete your story build.

Okay. These guys will be back
to judge your builds.

Book chicken and a horse
that can do gymnastics.

Remember, it's a story.

What if we did
the edge of a book--

Looks like a book?
Can we do that fast enough?

- Yeah.
- Hello, brickmasters Amy and Jamie.

They've got eight hours
for this build.

It seems like a lot of time,
but it's really not

because they have multiple
characters and a big story to tell.

Taker-waker.

There's a degree of kid logic

that goes into this universe

where there are some things
that may seem absurd,

but they actually
make sense to kids.

So, a horse
that can do gymnastics

- could be motorized, right?
- Yeah.

They're all building
the same thing this time,

so the really need to find ways

that they can stand out
in the builds.

I thought for the book chicken,

we could have the chicken
with actual bookends for wings.

Yeah.
This challenge is all about kids

and kids' imaginations,
and I deal with that every day at work.

So this feels like
it'll be something

that we should have
a pretty good angle on.

But on the other hand,
everyone is in

a really good position
in this challenge.

I mean, Sam and Jess
and Tyler and Amy

with the character building.

I was thinking
if you can do a horse,

can you put, like,
a leotard on it?

Mark and Boone with
the technical side of things.

The big thing would be the
landscape with the motorized house

so we could just turn it around.

Richard and Flynn
with the storytelling.

If our characters
could somehow move

so that they go into the house.

I mean, everyone
brings something

really strong to this challenge.

So what is your
stand-out moment?

Currently trying to figure out

how to make
the chicken hop around.

Maybe the horse will be doing
some acrobatics of some kind.

This house is very messy
and full of toys.

The toys we're putting
all over the place.

The more you can
help focus the story,

the more people will
understand the craziness of it.

- Right.
- Look, the competition

is tighter
than Christian's shirt.

It's weird that production
keeps putting me in jackets,

like they want me to leave.
They want me to leave.

- Take the jacket and go.
- Just wear this and get outside.

- Right, right. Exactly right.
- When you're outside,

why don't you hop in your car
and never come back?

Aaron and Christian
have focused on the house

of the taker-waker.

We think one of
the strengths of our build

is that we are showing this
entire land of Koo-Koo Magic.

Guys, you've won
four challenges in a row.

You've got the Golden Brick.

I feel like we got to build

like we don't have
the Golden Brick.

That's the attitude
I'm talking about.

Everybody's operating
from the same story,

but what are you going to
be doing differently than--

hopefully than everybody else?

Our build is a giant storybook

with the road that winds up to
the house of the taker-waker,

which turns around magically.

This is the horse
that does gymnastics, right?

Yes. This leg is back because it's
doing like a-- this kind of thing.

- Nice.
- It's going to have, like--

What gymnast-- it's doing--
it does the ribbon.

I feel like that's
the one I could've done.

What would be my song,
do you think?

Tyler and Amy
are really good sculptors

and they're going to sculpt
something big and cool,

and I want us to be
competitive with that.

We feel great about this challenge.
This is totally us.

He is Mr. Koo-Koo Magicland.

We've decided to
make our taker-waker a rat

living in a garbage can.

Nobody else is thinking
about a trash can.

We know everyone's going to be

making the same characters,

so we have to make sure that
our characters are different,

they're unique, and they
stand out from everybody else.

- All right, she's going up.
- To Koo-Koo Town.

This is going to
be our main platform.

We've been married
for about a year

and we've been thinking
about babies a lot.

So we're definitely on a high
with working with these kids,

creating characters.

- Best challenge ever.
- How's it going?

Do you guys have a plan on how
to attack this crazy story?

We really want to make sure
we have something unique.

We're creating
three floating platforms.

On the first platform,

we'll have our gymnastics horse.

Second platform,
our book chicken.

And third,
the taker-waker pack rat.

We're feeling really confident about this.
This is kind of-- this is kind of our thing.

You guys seem very excited
about having these kids here.

- Yup. Absolutely.
- And...

we've just found out
that our team of two

is becoming a team of three.

We have a baby
Lego builder on board.

- No way!
- Yup.

What? That's incredible.

- I can tell you as a proud father

of two kids of my own,
it's the best experience,

so I wish you guys
nothing but the best.

Winning this competition
would really mean a lot to us,

but we haven't won
since the second challenge.

So we need to step up our game

because we need to buy a house.

We have to pay for this baby.

We thought,
how can we tell this story

from once upon a time
till the end?

So we're actually going to
physically move the characters

from one end to the other
on a conveyor belt.

So they will go on their journey
and they will end in the house.

I feel pretty good
about this conveyor belt.

I know they take
very specialized gears,

so we're going
to have a driver gear

and a follower gear,

and all these other
little gears along the way,

and then just have it all run

on a really smooth surface.

You guys are
well on your way already.

Is this part of Koo-Koo Magic?

Yeah. We're going to
have our book chicken

and our gymnastic horse
ride on a conveyor belt

into the house
that will open to reveal

the scary taker-waker.

You guys were obviously bottom
two building a bridge...

- Yep.
- ...in the last challenge.

- Yep.
- So how are we feeling

about this challenge?

Great. Really psyched.

This is a colorful book chicken.

- Book chicken.
- Ha! I love it.

I do like the pack rat idea
though, for the taker-waker.

Because the rat lives
in the trash can.

I don't know.

As we're building, I hear Sam
and Jessica mention a rat.

We're building a rat as well.

Did I hear you guys
are making a rat?

- Yeah.
- Because we're making a rat.

- Are you really?
- No.

This is not happening again.
No more baby-gate.

They're making
a baby, too? Seriously?

- Copy, copy, copy.
- Sam and Jessica's rat

is still in the idea phase,

while we have
a full blown rat head

sitting on our table.

Our rat was going to be purple.

My God.
He's so cute already.

I hate you, two.

- Dang you, Tyler and Amy.
- Sorry.

It's arguably the best
Lego rat I've ever seen.

I do not want to
compete with their rat.

Man.

The clock is ticking
and we have to come up

with some better ideas,
and we have to

come up with them quick.

Their rat is really cute.

Can you make
a better rat than him?

The big challenge this week

is everyone is building
the same story.

Did I hear you guys
are making a rat?

- Yeah.
- Because we're making a rat.

- Are you really?
- That sucks.

So there is a danger
that they might interpret

the kids' story in the same way.

So each team is going to
have to find a way

to distinguish themselves.

The kids are coming
back to look at our builds.

So we really want to
come up with something

really unique
and really "Koo-Koo."

Let's do a raccoon
in a trash can.

I come up with this idea,
we could do a raccoon.

She's a taker-waker because
she's awake at night

and takes things
from the little children,

just like a raccoon would.

A raccoon is so hard.

This horse is so funny.

He's doing his gymnastics.

We're going to have
moving characters,

which is, I think,
more than other people are probably doing,

especially because
we have two of them done.

I'm going to start
working on the horse,

because we need to move along
with another character.

Flynn, we don't have a chicken.

It's been, like,
a three-hour chicken.

I've tried to create
these characters.

I keep messing around
trying to figure out

how am I going to add legs
onto the book?

How is the head going to go on?

And I just can't
wrap my head around it.

Four hours!

Four hours to go until we close
the book on this challenge.

Everyone's vision for the
world this happens in is so different.

Yeah, I definitely
agree with that.

Here we are, episode seven.
How crazy is that?

And you know how it is
in relationships

when couples start
feeling that itch?

I hear that the same thing

actually happens with
reality hosting gigs.

This is when the network
gets their seven episode itch.

The stop appreciating you,
and they just start looking

around for something better.

Something younger, prettier.

No, it's true. It--

- Whoa!

and I thought it would be fun

- Perfect.

feeling the heat a little bit?

Great start. They won the Golden
Brick in the last challenge

and they can use it to protect
themselves from elimination.

I like this house.

- It's cool.

- It's messy inside.

This is the
land of Koo-Koo Magic.

This is nuts. I love it.

That's the taker-waker. Ooh, see,
I knew that, so you did a good job.

- Awesome.
- I feel so lost in this.

We're down on time,
and I feel like we've got nothing.

Can I make one suggestion?

All of these methods
are very weak

and they will break
and drop the chicken.

- So-- come here.
- I look around the workroom

and I see these really
sophisticated jointed animal builds.

There's only five teams left

and this is
an elimination challenge

and I'm feeling very inferior.

I just feel
completely overwhelmed.

I'm feeling completely
out of my element right now.

Maybe all of her toys
are just scattered

around the floor around it,
because it's a mess.

- Yeah, actually.
- In this challenge,

we have to recreate a story

that Will worked on
with some kids.

We have to
create the taker-waker,

the horse that
can do gymnastics,

and on top of that,
a book chicken.

- Hello there.
- Hi, you two.

- Hey, brickmasters.
- How's it going?

Christian is starting
to develop some of the toys.

We want to get it really messy
inside of the taker-waker's house.

You guys have taken some of the story
from quite a literal standpoint.

It's Koo-Koo Magic,
but we want it to be clear Koo-Koo Magic.

Remember, the kids'
imagination is fantastic,

and what I'm seeing,
the messy house aspect,

that's where I am getting
a little bit lost right now.

- Is it distracting from what I
want to put focus on? - Right.

Christian and I are finding
ourselves at a little bit of a loss.

According to the text of the
story, this house is very messy.

We kind of have to
take a second and figure out

how can we focus this story,

because I don't want to go home.

But there's not a lot of time
to make it happen.

I'm feeling completely
out of my element right now.

I want you to know
that I'm trying really hard.

Come here. No blame.

We're both doing this together.

Let's just continue making
the best thing we can make.

our world is more magical

than anything I've seen so far.

the end of the challenge.

Sam and Jessica,
there's a lot of humor.

And having that horse,
there's something

about the leotard
that just makes me smile.

- What do you think?
- My gosh. Yes!

- I need to get a tray.
- Aaron and Christian,

they're trying to make logic

of every single detail
of the story.

They're just going too literal.

They're really trying
to make a house a house

where they really needed to
reimagine it in a kids' world.

- Thoughts on chicken?
- I like that.

Tyler and Amy have shown us

that they really enjoy
making these characters.

That taker-waker,
it's got a cuteness to it,

but it's also kind of sinister.

- Can you feel the magic flowing?
- ♪ I can feel the magic ♪

Mark and Boone
are definitely one of the teams

who is capturing
the magical aspect in there.

But they're also the only ones that
are using the storybook as the base.

I think it's a really strong
icon that kids will understand.

But, I mean,
that huge empty space, it's gray.

They're expecting
something to be there.

Yeah, I mean, I can't make
her head any smaller.

Just make her hair wider.

Richard and Flynn were struggling
a bit for time earlier on,

but I'm really loving
the taker-waker.

She's got such
an expressive look.

Does she have flowers on her dress?
Yes, she's great.

But I wonder
what would the kids think?

This, after all, is their story.

We're at the stage
in the competition

where even a good build
can send you home

because the competition
is so high.

I need to figure out how
to attach her arms on to her.

She's going to have
to be studs on the side.

and we have kids trying
to get their toys back

It turns out what we read before
was only part of the story.

Once upon a time
in the land of Koo-Koo Magic,

a book chicken and a horse
that can do gymnastics

went looking
for some toys to eat.

All of the sudden,
a taker-waker appeared

and asked, "Why are you
eating all of my toys?

Those are magical!"

But it was too late.

They took a bite,
and before they knew it,

a huge blank burst
out of the ground

and blank fell from the sky.

It was awesome.

All right, kids, each one of you

is going to pick a team
and finish the story for them.

Teams, your job is building

whatever your
fill in the blanker says

because today
one team is playing

for a very happily ever after.

Will, are you just, like,
making things up at this point?

I'm not. I'm just doing
what any good host would do.

We need something huge
that's bursting out of the ground.

A vegetable monster.

What comes out
from under the ground?

A elephant and a giant
golden sleigh

with candy cane arms.

Okay.

More Koo-Koo Magic.

Definitely magical, but also
definitely hard to build.

- A giant...
- Okay.

...evil version of the horse
that can do gymnastics.

A giant weed.

Like a big weed monster
comes out of the ground, right?

And what does he look like?

Like eyebrows are kind of
bending down.

- He's got angry eyebrows. Yeah.
- Yeah.

Now we need something
that can fall from the sky.

- Broccoli.
- Man.

How in the world
are we gonna build that?

What else you got
that's coming from the sky?

- Rainbow mushrooms.
- Wow.

What's gonna fall from the sky?

Disco chickens and toupees.

An alien spaceship trying to
pick back up all the toys

to take them back
to all the kids.

- Whoa.
- Hi, Cash. My name's Boone.

- Hi, Boone.
- What could be falling from the sky?

Um, little robots.

- Okay. - What do you think
would burst out of the ground?

- A crab.
- Anything special about the crab?

He pinched the taker-waker
and she cried all the way home.

- Very specific.
- All right.

We think we're done
and we have a whole 'nother part

of the story to build.

I don't think
I fully understand.

I love Cash's ideas, but these new
elements seem to be kind of messing

with what we already have.
I don't know what we're gonna do.

And we want to make sure
that we don't have to use

the Golden Brick
this challenge. Man.

Just when our builders think they're
finally done with this crazy story,

another chapter emerges.
Now we've got the twist.

Each of the kids influenced their story and
their model in a totally different direction.

The challenge is they have to
incorporate something very unique

on top of what they already built and
still see the whole story come together.

- Should the whole elephant be candy cane?
- Yeah.

For the storybook challenge,
we've been give five extra hours

to make these new elements.

Purple eyeshadow
is a really good idea.

We need to build an elephant
with candy cane legs

and rainbow mushrooms
falling from the sky.

Make it epic, Sam.
Make it epic.

Our friend Nate gave us
some really interesting ideas

for the second half
of the storybook challenge.

So what we have to do is create
a dark, evil gymnastics horse

bursting from the ground, and then it's
raining disco chickens with toupees.

- How you feel about our idea that we got?
- I love it.

We are going to create
a giant carrot monster

that's bursting out
of the ground,

and an army of little flying broccolis
that help the carrot monster.

It's gonna be awesome.

You better eat your vegetables.

We were really happy
with our build before the twist.

We feel like we've done
a great job.

We are expanding a bit to give us
more room for the new elements.

We are adding to the mountain
a giant crab

that reaches out and pinches
the taker-waker's nose.

And then it dumps
little robots from the sky.

Dude, that was such a good idea.

That's my partner right there.

The twist I'm super excited
about 'cause it means

we have a chance to add more
to our playset.

We are gonna create an interactive
pop-up book for our story.

We are going to add a weed monster
that pops out of the ground,

and we're going to add a lever
to bring our spaceship up

over top of the taker-waker's
house and beam up those toys.

So, Nicole, just be honest.
How did I do?

I mean, obviously, seventh episode
itch aside, does FOX still love me?

Well, I am fully booked,
so you've made the top two.

Yes!
Okay, that's a positive.

It's very positive.

Well, you know what, Will?

This has been so fun,

These bags are really heavy.

Well, if it falls apart now,

- is it gonna make it for the ride?
- I don't know.

Yeah, from the front
it looks cool.

So far, I think Sam and Jessica
is our biggest competition.

Yeah.

The stakes are getting
so high right now.

Just by virtue of the fact

I think that I would play
with this more

than I'd play with video games
and stuff.

- Hello.

So, walk us through
your storybook build.

The taker-waker is the
most notorious pack rat.

She travels far and near
stealing toys for her collection.

One day she gets a visit from
an unlikely duo.

Enraged, she summons forth
monster vegetable army.

They are bound to not rest until
everbody is not eating toys,

but eating their vegetables.

It's a crazy story
to begin with,

but you took that craziness
and put it all inside the model.

It really comes alive
when we look at it,

and also,
that's a massive carrot.

And the fact that you made it
look almost effortless

and then still have all of those little pieces
of broccoli coming off is really well done.

I think you guys are back
in your zone here.

And this story characters
were really king.

The horse is eating the toys,

just like it said in the story.

You did a very different take
on the taker-waker

living in a cave and it's
this little rat-like creature

that looks kind of menacing.

So I think you've done a great
job with the characters here.

Walk us through
your storybook build.

We have our book chicken
and our horse that does gymnastics.

They are heading on a conveyor
belt to go and eat some toys.

And they know that where
all the toys are

are inside the taker-waker's
house.

Suddenly, out of the ground
bursts a giant weed monster.

In the end, an alien spaceship
comes and beams up all the toys

to return to all the children
of Koo-Koo Magic Land.

You actually have
a very unique thing here,

where you have the story
being driven into the house,

but I am a little bit
underwhelmed by the twist part,

in that this is supposed to be
an awesome moment.

And you've got almost like
a grumpy old man kinda like,

"Hey, get off my lawn,"
where this was supposed to be

like bursting from the ground.

We want to see those things
really pop.

This taker-waker,
we definitely love her.

She is a magical moment,
and you could see that the kids

really engaged with her as well.

But some of the building styles
and characters you've made

definitely have a level
od simplification to them.

I'm really disheartened.

I feel like we hit
all the marks,

and for it to be a miss
is just terribly disappointing.

Walk us through

The book chicken and the
horse that can do gymnastics

go out looking for toys to eat.

Then the taker-waker appears!

All of a sudden,
a giant crab bursts out of the ground

and pinches the taker-waker
on the nose.

And finally, tiny robots
fall from the sky.

That crab is very fun. And he's actually
pinching the taker-waker's nose.

Where I'm conflicted is that
this beautiful book here,

it's inviting us
into this world,

but right after you get
over there,

it's that parking lot,
and that's where the energy parks.

Empty space is just
not so exciting.

I feel very insecure.
I have no idea where we land.

I think we've kissed
the Golden Brick good-bye.

We have our book
chicken and we have our horse,

who is a gold medalist
and gymnast.

She has actually done a backflip

onto the taker-waker's house
because she has toys

that they would like to eat.

Suddenly, a giant elephant

with candy cane legs bursts through
the ground on a golden sleigh,

and it starts raining
rainbow colored mushrooms.

There's something very playful
about this.

I'd say of all the teams, you seemed
to really be in the mind of a child.

It was a really fun decision

to give the taker-waker
a garbage can as a house.

And you gave us an even more
fantastic character with the elephant.

And we really see
you guys' personality

in the build as well,
which I think is really nice.

Once upon a time,
there were two best friends,

the book chicken and the
horse who could do gymnastics.

These two ended up inside the
taker-waker's super cluttered house

full of all of these
magical toys.

But because they started
to eat them,

the taker-waker had to summon
the evil gymnastics horse,

And then a cloud
suddenly appeared

and disco chickens rained down
into the river.

I'm quite torn.
I really wanted you guys to show us

how you could take a kid's story and
really take it into another place.

But I don't think you pushed
it as far as you could.

- Okay. - I mean, the kids were a
little bit lost on the cloud as well,

but I do think that
the movement has really brought

something very special
to your model

that captived the kids'
imagination.

There's a fine line
between messy house and mess.

We're so used to you guys
being so polished.

- Yeah.
- But we've been struggling to see

that there's a clear focus
in this build.

We put a piece of
ourselves into this,

and to hear from the Brickmasters
that we didn't hit our mark

is definitely upsetting.

Being placed in the bottom two
wasn't something I expected.

Every build that we put forward
I'm extremely confident in,

so to hear that we didn't hit
our mark is definitely upsetting.

This is a new experience for us and
this is not a place we wanted to be.

Aaron and Christian, you guys have shown
us that you are fantastic builders.

But this week, we were really
looking for you to push yourselves.

And we just didn't see that.

Where you succeeded was getting
those kids to love your movements.

However, your model was a bit
of a mess.

Richard and Flynn,
you were in the mind of a child

offering the pop-up book and
trying to introduce movement.

The challenge is your movement
didn't really further your story.

We're at a stage in the competition now
where we really need to see the best.

And ultimately,
some aspects of your build

just didn't have the
sophistication or the scale

that we're looking for
at this point.

We do have to say good-bye
to one team.
