Is It Cake? (2022–…): Season 2, Episode 8 - Winner Cakes All! - full transcript

With $75,000 on the line, the three remaining bakers face a final full of surprises. Guest judges: Jade Catta-Preta, Chris Redd and Taylor Tomlinson.

[upbeat music plays]

[cheering and applause]

Oh my gosh!

Aww.

[man chuckling]

-Look at these finalists.
-Look at you.

Rock stars!

Ooh!

It's good to see the energy again.
To feel it again.

-[Danya] I know.
-[man] Yay!

I'm so excited.

[woman] Congratulations.

-Thank you.
-[contestants] Congrats.

Where's Mikey? [chuckles]

-[contestants gasping and screaming]
-[upbeat music]

[applause]

[laughter]

[cheering]

-Hi, bakers.
-[laughter]

-That was a good one.
-Yeah!

That was so scary.

Welcome to the finale!

[cheering and applause]

[laughing] Hi.

[laughter]

[cheering and applause]

[woman] Nice. Nice.

Okay. The finale.

Spirit, Elizabeth, Miko,

I'm very proud of you three
for making it this far.

-Thank you.
-It has not been easy getting here.

The competition has been fierce,

and the cakes have been unbelievable.

Well done.

[cheering and applause]

Finally, one of you will be
the Is It Cake? champion.

And the grand prize is $75,000.

-[cheering and applause]
-Oh my God.

Money, money, money, money, money.

Wow.

So for the last time,

let's play Find That Cake.

-[cheering]
-[upbeat drum rhythm]

[music fades]

Cake wall, spin!

Coming around on the cake wall is a place
you should be incredibly familiar with.

It's a baking station.

[man] Oh, nice.

Oh, wow. [gasps]

[Mikey] And guess what?
There's cake up there.

What the heck?

You will have 20 seconds
to find it, bakers. Good luck.

Your time starts now.

-[tense music playing]
-[timer beeping]

Fifteen seconds.

Ten seconds.

Lock in your answers.

Five, four, three, two, one.

-[bell dings]
-Time's up!

[applause]

Let's see how you did.

Wow, I feel like one of you guys.

[contestants chuckle]

Um, do you have
the acrylic, um, neuralyzer?

-[laughing] Acrylic neuralyzer?
-[laughter]

Oh my God.

Okay, Miko,

what do you think is cake?

I wrote the orange fondant.

So, this is fondant
outside of the container?

I didn't know what that was.

[laughter]

-[Miko] I think I chose the wrong one.
-I did... I did too.

Let's see if you're right.

[tense music playing]

Is there cake inside?

-[contestants] No!
-No.

Oh, I know what it is.

-Spirit?
-[Spirit] Yes.

-You just said, "I know what it is."
-No, I did not.

-I said I have an idea of what it is.
-Oh, you have an idea.

-[Spirit] Yes.
-Yes, now we do.

[Mikey] What's the idea?

I think it's the gum paste
on the chopping board.

-Is that what you wrote down?
-I did not write that down, no.

-You didn't write that down and now...
-[Spirit] I did not.

You took the knife
out of the block that I wrote down.

Okay, let's see if you're right.

-[suspenseful music plays]
-[clears throat]

[woman] Oh.

-[contestants] Oh!
-[upbeat music plays]

-That's cake!
-[Spirit] Yeah!

But that's not what you guessed.

I know.

You guessed the knife block.

-[Spirit sighs] Yeah.
-[Elizabeth] Yep.

That I took a knife out, and that made you
second-guess your choice.

Elizabeth?

You guys are tricky, so you could
have had a real knife in there.

That does look a little suspicious.

Okay, Spirit and Elizabeth,
you both guessed the knife block.

-[Spirit] Mm-hmm.
-Let's see if you're right.

[tense music playing]

[contestants] Oh!

-Oh my gosh!
-[upbeat music playing]

[cheering and applause]

-[Mikey] That's cake.
-Oh my God!

[Spirit laughs]

[Mikey] It's cake!

Wow.

I'm impressed.

-Whoo!
-[cheering and applause]

Let's play Is It Cake?

-[cheering and applause]
-[upbeat drum rhythm]

[music fades]

This is the finale,

so the money's big,
and so are the surprises.

-[upbeat music plays]
-[contestants] Whoa!

-[laughter]
-[Spirit] Wow.

Hey, make it rain.

[laughter]

Listen closely.

We want you
to use your vivid imaginations

and all the baking skills you possess

to create a cake

that represents what you would do
with the grand prize if you won it.

You need to blow the judges away
with your creativity

and trick their eyes.

That means each of you
needs to make a cake worthy of $75,000.

-Wow.
-[Mikey] Oh.

There's one more thing.

Mm-hmm.

Remember I said
there'd be lots of surprises?

Uh-huh.

You're all getting...

baking assistants!

Whoo!

-Yay!
-[Spirit] Yes!

-[upbeat music playing]
-[applause]

The winner of Find That Cake
gets first pick.

[tense music playing]

Spirit, you were the fastest
to find the cake.

[upbeat music playing]

Who do you want as your assistant?

-Hmm.
-[suspenseful music playing]

I'm going to take...

my mentor, Liz Marek.

Would you please join me?

I mean, I guess.

-Liz, you're back! The team is formed.
-[cheering and applause]

Our second-fastest baker was...

Elizabeth.

[chuckles]

Who are you going to pick?

Um...

Really, really obviously
tough, tough decision.

I pick Pete.

-Oh my goodness! Thank you.
-[cheering and applause]

The Prince of Provo!

You also chose wisely.

-[ding]
-Last but not least, Miko?

If only I could share the stage
with all of you, I would,

but I'm gonna pick...

[tense music playing]

Danya.

[applause]

-[Mikey] Danya!
-[cheering and applause]

-Whoo!
-[woman] Danya!

[applause]

[Danya chuckles]

One of you will win $75,000

and be crowned the Is It Cake? champion.

Okay, bakers, you'll have ten hours
and one assistant.

-It's time to bake!
-[cheering and applause]

Go!

-Yes!
-[laughter]

-I want to do the Mona Lisa.
-[gasps]

Oh my God.

I want to showcase
my painting skills this time.

Absolutely. If anyone can do it,
you can pull it off.

I'm thinking, like,
let's go with a tool bag,

and to make it, like, a bit more complex,
we'll have lots and lots of pockets.

We're gonna do a record player.

[Liz] Oh, I love that!

And we haven't seen anything move
on Is It Cake? yet.

We're gonna make it move?

-They're about to see something move.
-You know I love a moving cake, girl!

-Oh, yay!
-[Spirit] Let's do this.

-We got it. It's the finale!
-[Liz] Oh, yeah!

-We got this, girl. You and me.
-Let's go!

-If I could just get a ceiling back up.
-Yeah.

I can have a floor to walk on,
and that would be amazing.

-We gotta get you a ceiling.
-[Elizabeth] Yes.

For me, what's on the line is

finally getting a ceiling
above my flood-damaged house.

So I feel like my cake should be
a representation of fixing my house.

So tools, tool bag, done.

I look like a girly girl,
but I love my DIY.

So I think what I'm gonna do,
we'll have, like, a pencil sticking out.

-[Pete] Needle-nose pliers.
-[Elizabeth] Yes!

Wrenches in there.

$75,000, I'm sorry.

-Yeah.
-That is stressful.

Probably the most important cake
in all of their lives.

Their career. It has to be show-stopping.

I'm just looking at them work,
and I'm like, "It's getting hot in here."

I'm planning to make
the Mona Lisa painting with a frame.

And we'll cover it
with tempered chocolate,

so that it's, like, very sturdy enough
to hold the cake layers inside.

A great idea.

Honestly, it is very pressuring,
because this is the grand finale.

I want to make the Philippines proud,

and I want my parents to see me succeed.

But aside from that, 75K.

If I win, I will be going to France
to see the Mona Lisa.

I've dreamt of seeing that masterpiece
in person ever since I was a kid.

Am I crazy for doing this?

Yes, I am.

The Mona Lisa is one of the most popular
and well-known paintings in the world,

but according to my dad,

no guts, no glory.

And then for the cake,
it's gonna be layers of cake inside.

[Danya] That's a great idea.

My cake is going to be dark chocolate cake
with peanut butter buttercream filling,

peanut brittle layer,
and raspberry purée drizzle.

Yes. Team...

[both laughing]

Oh my God.

-Yay, go team!
-[both laughing]

Okay, almost done with this here.
Just make sure all the flour is broken up.

-Spirit?
-[Spirit] Yes?

-What you making over there?
-My record player.

-A record player. Ooh.
-Oh, your album's dropping soon.

Yes. Yes, yes.

-[laughs]
-I love that.

What brings people together?
You know, cake and music. [chuckles]

When I win the money,
what I would do with the money

is become a first-time homeowner,

and I would do
what me and my kids love to do best.

-Sing their life through music.
-That really is so nice.

Listening to music with my kids
is my go-to for my zen.

If I were to win this money,
I can possibly purchase a home for them.

They really, really deserve it.
And this record player symbolizes that.

That made me almost cry.

I know.

Damn Botox.

[chuckles]

[mixer whirring]

Hey, Spirit.
What cake flavor is your record player?

There's two flavors.

We are making a classic red velvet cake
with cream cheese filling,

chopped white chocolate chips,
and toasted walnuts.

Ooh.

And then the other side of it
is chocolate chip cookie cake,

filled with cream cheese icing,
and Nutella spread.

Love it.

-All right, cheers.
-Cheers.

Mm.

-Oh.
-[Liz] Mmm.

[Spirit] I don't have many memories
of my father

before we went into foster care,

but my favorite memory of my dad
is when he introduced me to music.

He had one of the vintage record players
with the gramophone attached to it.

My father introduced me to music
when I was maybe four or five,

and he told me to learn a song with him,

and I think he said, within two days,
I was singing the whole song.

So I think of him
when I think of record players,

because that was
one of my first great memories as a child.

Okay, put it in the oven
because now I want cake tops.

Oh my gosh.

Portion out how much you actually need,
so it can cool down a little bit quicker.

This cake is gonna be more challenging
than anything I've ever done,

because the cake is just so big
and I am doing multiple flavors.

Just keep it Petey.

-Keep smiling. Just keep smiling.
-[Pete laughing]

Which hopefully should impress the judges.

So I'm making a chocolate whisky cake

with a dulce de leche cream cheese,
pecan praline, and a chocolate ganache.

And then, bam, in the other half,

cinnamon brown sugar cake
with a peach pie filling,

more pecan praline,
and a cookie butter buttercream,

to really bring home that cobbler taste.

Wow.

This needs to be a cake
that is worth $75,000,

so I'm channeling Texas all the way.

[Spirit] Who's there?

Here they come.

-Hello, finalists.
-Hi.

Hi, Mikey.

-And assistants.
-[Liz] Hello!

You've come a long way, and I'm proud
of each and every one of you.

Now come and get your decoys!

Remember, you get three decoys each.

I can't wait to see
what you wow us with one last time.

One of these is the real Mona Lisa...

[laughter]

...on loan from the Louvre.

We're gonna steal the Mona Lisa
with our t... [laughs]

[upbeat music playing]

[Pete] Let me make that ganache
really quick. [laughs]

[Spirit] Good, good, good. All right.

-[Liz] Classic flavor.
-[Spirit] Yes.

[Liz] Ooh, it's getting there.

-[Miko] Dream big.
-[Danya] Exactly.

Bakers, six hours.

You have six hours left.

-Yeah, that's our structure.
-Dang.

That's nice, huh?

First thing's first is structure.

I'm gonna go get the freeze spray,
and we can...

We can hold it together.

To make sure that it's sturdy enough,

we are making the structure
out of tempered chocolate.

There we go. All right, hold on.

I originally went to school
for architecture.

I was fascinated with how things
were built, the foundation of things.

It's definitely working in my favor.

Okay.

-[Liz] Good?
-[Spirit] Yeah.

Spirit's structure,
I feel like is the hard part for her.

[Justin] Very complicated.

-[Liz] Don't let go of that. [laughs]
-[Spirit] I'm not.

-Miko, how you doing?
-[Miko] Good, I guess.

Sending you all the hearts
right now, guys.

For the structure of the cake,
I'm using a wooden support

just to make sure
that it's not gonna fall off.

After I stack all the cakes, I'm pouring
tempered chocolate on top of it.

I need something that would not
make my cake look warp-y.

Tempered chocolate is super hard
when it dries.

I want this one done as soon as possible,

because I still have to start
painting the Mona Lisa.

[chuckles] Yeah.

[dramatic intro music plays]

A note from the GOAT.

Reporting live
from the Is It Cake? studio,

Corterrius Allen, Is It Cake? News.

-[laughter]
-Yeah!

He's a natural.

[laughing]

Stop spinning.

As I'm carving the cake, I realized
it's way bigger than I thought. It's huge.

Everything is just so much more cake,

and my whole cake is free-hand sculpted.

So I'm literally looking
at where indentions are on one of the bags

and just trying to carve
and mimic them in my cake.

So there's a lot of time that has to be
spent on just sculpting my cake.

This process is very difficult,

but I've worked so hard
to get to where I am.

-[sighs]
-[Pete] How are you feeling?

-Tired. Exhausted.
-[Pete chuckles]

All right. Four hours, bakers.
Four hours left.

There's that Pete hustle.

God, I love it.

[Spirit] All this here
is, like, this gray fabric.

There's not too much room for error

when it comes
to trying to recreate fabric.

It's almost darn near impossible, right?

Maybe we should do the, uh, flocking?

If you can color the gray, I'll paint it.
I'll dehydrate it, and you can do this.

I've learned so much since I've been here.

I used a mold for the first time.
Tempered chocolate for the first time.

I've learned a lot
by watching the other bakers.

I remember Danya and Elizabeth
using the flocking method to mimic fabric,

so I color the wafer paper on both sides.

Once dry, put it all in a blender.

-[Liz yelps, laughs]
-[blender whirring]

And it becomes this "fur-like" texture.

-Look at that!
-That's awesome.

Wafer paper can do anything.

Once the wafer paper
is on the modeling chocolate,

I'll start paneling it,
creating nice, clean edges.

Y'all know I love me a sharp edge.

And then every other edge,
we're doing the same thing.

Danya, thank you
for, uh, sharing the flocking method.

-[chuckles] Yeah.
-It is making my day.

[dramatic intro music]

[in a British accent] Sam Duckforth,
live for Cake 15 Sports,

here with Jarid.

-What do you think of the finalists?
-You know what? I see...

[laughs] Yes, yes, yes. All right.

-[laughing]
-Well, Sam Duckforth,

reporting live from the finale
for Cake 15 News.

Cake 15 News.

We are news, we are cake.

[crunching]

-Ooh! Okay. Crunchy.
-[Justin] Oh my gosh!

Good God, that's a tasty microphone.

[dramatic outro plays]

Okay, let me try to sketch this one.

The hardest part for this cake
is actually the painting process.

The edible paint that I'm using
acts differently than oil paints.

It dries on the matte side,

and the decoys are a bit shiny.

And in order for me to achieve that,
I need enough time to finish my work.

I'm gonna start calling you
Miko-nardo-damikie.

[Danya and Miko laugh]

Oh my God. Miko-angelo. [laughs]

-[Miko] I love that one.
-I'm dead. I'm dead.

I have to start with the face,

because Mona Lisa's face
is the most important one.

The shading is really, like, subtle.

It has to be perfect.

-Now I'm worried.
-[Danya] Why?

-If I could actually, like, pull this off.
-You can.

I don't know.

Well, I believe in you
enough for the both of us.

[both chuckle]

-Guess how long I've been kneading for.
-[Pete] How long?

-[Elizabeth] An hour.
-[Pete] Time goes too fast, yo.

It does. Especially when you're kneading.

When it comes to working with fabric,

this is probably
one of the more challenging cakes,

'cause it's not thin fabrics.
There's no wrinkles in that.

So getting that to look like actual canvas
is really, really tricky.

I'm actually making a mold
of the exact texture of the canvas,

which has little tiny holes in it.

And when it's done,
I push it into my fondant,

and it looks exactly like a canvas.

I think that Elizabeth
is really smart for doing a bag,

because she's so amazing at fabric things.

This has been such a fantastic journey.

I got to show some great work
that I'm capable of.

Quite proud of myself.

I found out
I'm more of a detail-oriented person.

I am that stitch witch,

so I'm making sure
all the details are there.

I love the texture on this, though.
It's looking really good.

Two hours. Two hours left, bakers.

That's plenty of time
to paint the Mona Lisa.

[laughs]

[upbeat classical music playing]

This is a very ambitious project for me.

Yeah. [chuckles]

Go big or go home.

I mean, we're all going home,
so got nothing to lose.

In order to replicate the frame,
I'm using molds with tempered chocolate.

It's very sturdy.

Looking at the chocolate frame,
there are some imperfections.

One side is a little bulkier
than the other.

I just need to heat up a knife and cut it,

because if the frame
is not straight, it's cake.

[Danya] Smells like fried chocolate.

[Miko] To make my frame gold,

I'm gonna use edible dust,
and then I'm gonna mix vodka into it.

-Can you mix some?
-[Danya] Yeah.

Please, and thank you.

Vodka makes the drying process faster.

[Danya] I think it looks cool.

[gasps] It looks so antique.

[Mikey] One hour, bakers.

One hour separates you and $75,000.

I need to do this real quick.

It's not gonna be a record player
without a record. We need a record.

Just trace it before it sets.

So if I can get this record to move,

I think I have a greater chance
of fooling the judges.

I'm using this turntable,

and I've already carved the space for it
in the cake.

It's gonna be a spinning record player?

Okay, special effects. I see her.

This is the finale,
so we're really pulling out all stops.

Everything is everything.
We're talking about finals and detailing.

They're gonna look at all that.
I'm looking at everybody else's stuff too.

It's pretty detailed,
especially that damn bag.

Once I get the pockets on,
I just need to do the zipper and straps.

[Pete] Gotcha.

[Elizabeth] Then I can start putting
the tools that I've made in there.

If ever there was a time that there was
nothing more crucial than details,

this is the time.

So I have this long zipper,
chocolate tools, and fondant tools,

and edible silver paint on the wrench.

And there's so many pockets,

and so much stitching.

[upbeat music]

Have you ever made stitches
with an Exacto before?

I have now!

Some of these details are so small,

but I'm just really hoping
that the judges can see

the level of complexity that's in my cake.

Fifteen minutes left, bakers.
It's crunch time.

Time for more details. I have time.

My journey here has been super crazy,
and I've grown a lot,

not just as an artist,
but also as a baker.

I'm so happy that my parents
are gonna see me doing what I'm doing,

because it makes them proud as well.

Reaching this far, I'm proud of myself.

Well, we made the impossible happen.

How you feeling
with how much time we have left?

Don't count me out just yet.

My hands are killing me.

My forearms are burning, and I can't stop.

There's $75,000
literally on the line here.

-These are both different. Any preference?
-Just regular. Yeah, cheap, regular.

-It's been an honor to work with you.
-You too.

[Mikey] Five minutes, bakers.

Five minutes left.

Freeze spray?

[fast-paced music playing]

I'm wanting to have
this record on my cake spin.

Come on.

I put the motor in there,
I turn it on, and it's not working.

Why does it keep going off?
Why does it keep stopping?

She may be having trouble
with her turntable. She said...

It's stopping.
Is it getting stuck on something?

[Mikey] Thirty seconds, bakers.

You can do it. Final touches.

Y'all got this!

-Just dab some on.
-That's...

Just dab some on.
Grab some, dab it on with your hand.

-Ah!
-Come on, Spirit!

I'm trying to paint and trying
to do all these things. I got it.

Two toothpicks, two toothpicks.
Two toothpicks, please.

So I'm gonna go ahead and just keep moving
and focusing on the task in front of me.

Keep moving.
We're gonna get this cake done.

Your record's right there.

Careful, careful!

[Mikey] Five,

four, three,

two,

one.

Time's up!

[cheering and applause]

Nice work, bakers.
I'm rooting for all of you.

This is gonna be fun.

[dramatic music plays]

[music fades]

Spirit, Elizabeth, Miko,

you've created your final,
most show-stopping cakes of the season,

and one of you will take home
the $75,000 grand prize.

-It's a big one. Thank you, gallery.
-[cheering and applause]

Who will it be?

That is up to our judges.

-Comedian and the host of Hotties.
-Hotties!

-[Mikey] Jade Catta-Preta!
-Hi!

[cheering and applause]

Jade, the earrings are on point.

I've been wanting to wear these.
Just couldn't pass the opportunity.

They're astonishing.

Thank you so much.
They're heavy, so let's... [chuckles]

-Let's move along, please.
-Let's move on.

-[laughter]
-Yikes.

Comedian, actor,
my castmate and friend at SNL,

but he wants to make it clear
we don't hang out outside of work.

[laughter]

Emmy Award winner, Chris Redd.

-Hey.
-[cheering and applause]

-That suit looks good on you, bro.
-I was gonna ask, what do you think?

You look like a James Bond's assistant.

[laughter]

-You're the understudy.
-He's the understudy.

[laughter]

Her specials Quarter-Life Crisis
and Look At You can be seen on Netflix,

the always funny comedian
Taylor Tomlinson.

-[Chris] Yeah!
-[Mikey] I'm a fan.

Everyone always says, "Happy to be here,"
but I feel like you truly mean this.

I really am happy to be here.

Do you guys know,
when Bill Burr saw Breaking Bad,

he called his agent and was like,

"If you can get me on Breaking Bad,
that would be awesome"?

I literally did that with Is It Cake?

-[laughter]
-Yay!

-She loves cake!
-Yeah.

My agents were very confused.

-They went, "What?"
-"Want to audition for this Marvel movie?"

And I'm like,
"Can we circle back to Is It Cake?"

[laughter]

All right, judges.

Over the course of three spins,
you are going to try to find three cakes,

and there is a lot
riding on your decisions.

You will determine
who will become the Is It Cake? champion

and take home the $75,000 prize.

[applause]

We're going to give you 20 seconds
to try and find the cake

and lock in your answer
on the keypad in front of Chris.

Let's go!

-Okay.
-All right. Up first is Spirit!

-[cheering and applause]
-[Chris] Yeah!

[Mikey] She made a record player.

Cake wall, spin!

Coming around the cake wall
are four record players.

One of those record players is cake.

All right, let's see.

[Mikey] You have 20 seconds.

Your time starts now!

[tense music]

-[Jade] Oh my God. What?
-[Taylor] Oh my God.

-Come on!
-[Taylor] Oh my God!

Okay, One has kind of round edges.

-[Chris] Yeah.
-[Taylor] One looks soft.

The edges give it away for sure.

[Jade] Okay, Number Two
looks flat to me. Like it's plastic.

[Chris] Like it... And it's moving.

Oh my God, it's actually moving!

-Three, what's that white thing?
-[Mikey] Ten seconds!

-[Chris] Icing!
-[Jade] Icing, yeah.

Number Four, I feel like
I had that record player.

I feel like they stole that from me.

-[Jade] Also that gray color is off.
-[Mikey] Five seconds.

We have to pick something!
I think it's One.

-If we think it's One, let's go with One.
-[Mikey] Three, two, one!

-Time's up!
-[Taylor] Oh my gosh.

-[Jade] Wow, a lot harder than I thought.
-[Chris] Come on, baby!

[Mikey] So you picked Number One.

Okay, Spirit. You've come a long way.

I have. Yeah.

It all comes down to this moment.

Shall we?

We shall.

Judges, let's see how you did.

[tense music playing]

Is it cake?

[tense music continues]

[contestants gasping]

[Jade] It's cake!

-Oh no, I'm sorry we chose it!
-It's okay. [chuckles]

-Spirit, I'm so sorry.
-It's okay.

The judges found your cake,

but depending on what happens
with Elizabeth and Miko,

it might not be the end of the road yet.

-It's never the end of the road.
-[chuckles]

This is my greatest hits.
It's going up from here.

-Yes!
-Yeah!

-Yes!
-That's the spirit.

[Mikey] It's time for our next baker.

Elizabeth.

[cheering and applause]

Elizabeth made a tool bag with tools.

Judges, are you ready?

-I've been ready.
-We're ready.

Cake wall, spin!

[dramatic music plays]

Coming around on the cake wall
are four tool bags with tools,

and one of them is cake.

-Crazy.
-[Jade] That's crazy.

[Mikey] You have 20 seconds
to try and find it.

Your time starts now!

-[tense music playing]
-[timer beeping]

-[Jade] What?
-[Chris] Oh!

Oh my God!

[Jade] Okay, okay.
Number One is, like, slouchy.

-That looks real.
-Number One looks like it smells real.

-Yeah, it does! It smells stinky.
-Don't it? Yeah! It's like...

[Taylor] Number Two
looks like it's missing tools.

-These all look like bags to me.
-[Mikey] Ten seconds.

[Chris] Three, that monkey wrench
looks fake.

I think it's a trick. None are cake.

[Jade] Number Four looks real,
but the handles look fake.

They're standing straight up.

I'm not even kidding, I don't know.

-[Jade] I think...
-[Taylor] I'm not doing a bit.

-Just pick one!
-[Mikey] Lock it in.

-[Jade] Three!
-[Taylor] Pick anything!

-[Mikey] Three, two, one!
-[bell dings]

Time's up.

[applause]

-We almost didn't make it!
-I was, "Just pick any of them."

[Mikey] Okay, so you picked Number Three.

How are we feeling? Confident?

[sighs] I don't... I think we messed up.

I don't know. I think... I think we did it.

Elizabeth, or should I say
the stitch witch,

you've blown us away
with your cakes all season,

so it all comes down to this final cut.

Are you ready?

Yep. Let's do it.

Okay, judges.

[laughter]

-I feel like we have a divided panel.
-[Jade] Yeah.

And Taylor falls into the category
of "There is not a cake up here."

-I'm so angry I asked to come here.
-[laughter]

I have a stomachache.
This is really stressful.

Judges, why did you choose Number Three?

-We panicked.
-We panicked, but...

We panicked a lot, and I did, at the time,
say that the monkey wrench gave it away.

Let's see if you're right. Is it cake?

-[exhales]
-[tense music playing]

-No. Not cake!
-[cheering and applause]

-Not cake!
-[upbeat music playing]

I'm defeated!

-[laughing]
-Not cake!

-Yeah!
-Oh, it's the finale, and I love it!

[cheering]

[Mikey] Congrats, Elizabeth!

[cheering and applause]

The stitch witch works her magic.

-You could be taking home the $75,000.
-[woman] Good job, girl!

Unfortunately, Spirit,
that means you cannot win,

and you're not up for the grand prize.

But as we said earlier...

I always win.

-You always win!
-Yeah.

-Yeah. Yes.
-[applause]

It's just been such a blessing
and such a beautiful experience.

Wherever I ended up
is where I was meant to be.

I can't say I'm happy about my loss,
but I'm not sad either.

I am a Is It Cake? finalist,

and that is something
I can be very proud of.

Please join your friends in the gallery.

Spirit!

[all chanting]
Spirit! Spirit! Spirit! Spirit!

Elizabeth, please do the honors
and reveal your cake.

All right.

-Ooh, she's messing with you.
-No way.

-[Taylor] No.
-[Jade] No.

-Nope, just kidding.
-[laughter]

-[Taylor] Oh my God.
-[Chris] Oh, man.

[cheering and applause]

[Mikey] Now that was a cut.

So this is a chocolate whisky cake
paired with a pecan praline,

a dulce de leche cream cheese,
and chocolate ganache.

Ooh!

-There's also some pencil.
-Is that a real pencil?

-Oh!
-[applause]

[Elizabeth] This one is a cinnamon cake,

cookie butter cream,
and a peach pie filling.

-Yum.
-Comes complete with a zipper as well.

-Look at the zipper!
-A zipper!

How do you do the zipper part?

-[Taylor] What?
-And the wrench is chocolate.

-This is insane!
-What?

-[Elizabeth] Take a bite of the wrench.
-This looks like metal.

Oh!

It hurts so good.

Oh my God!

My parents are from the South,
and that peach cobbler rings true to me.

Is there a little marzipan or am I crazy?
Is it almond?

There is a tiny bit of almond
in the peach cobbler one.

That's insane. That's so good. Oh my God.

The cake is so good,
they have left their podiums.

[laughter]

Our final baker is...

Miko!

-Hello.
-[cheering]

Miko!

-Hi.
-[Mikey] Miko made you,

I can't believe I'm saying this,
the Mona Lisa.

[gasps]

What?

Cake wall, spin!

[dramatic music plays]

Coming around now
are four paintings of the Mona Lisa.

Oh my God!

-Man!
-[Taylor] Oh my God!

[Mikey] But one of them is cake.

-Are you kidding me?
-[woman] Oh my God!

[Mikey] You have 20 seconds
to try and find the cake.

Your time starts now!

[tense music plays]

-[Jade] What?
-[all clamoring]

Okay. Oh my God!

[Jade] I don't know.
Number One is almost too shiny. Too shiny.

Yeah. The face on Number Two
looks too detailed.

[Taylor] The face on Two
looks like she had a little work done.

[laughter]

-[Mikey] Ten seconds.
-Look at the eyes on Three. She's like...

-Do you see...?
-Three looks like she lives outside.

-[Jade] Yeah.
-"She lives outside"!

[Jade] Number Four is not shiny at all.

[Taylor] Four is not shiny,
but they can make cake shiny.

-[Jade] They look identical.
-[Mikey] Lock it in! Five seconds!

[Jade] I don't know!

-Just press it!
-[bell dings]

-Time's up!
-Bro, this is crazy.

[Mikey laughs]

-[Mikey] Which number did you choose?
-[Chris] We chose Four.

[Mikey] Miko.

-Yes, Mikey.
-[Mikey] You are truly an artist.

-Thank you.
-[cheering and applause]

Mom and Dad, look at that.

All right, so it all comes down
to this, my friend.

-Okay, Mikey.
-[Mikey] Let's see how you did.

[tense music playing]

We got a torcher on our hands.

-Ooh.
-[Taylor] Oh my God.

You guys seem completely baffled here.

I've never been speechless like this.

This show makes me doubt myself,
Mikey Day!

Ooh. I like it!

You chose Number Four.

Tell me why.

Four looks like the most edible.

-I think Four is the best painting.
-[Jade] Real one.

I think they brought that from the Louvre.

All right. Let's see if you're right.

Miko, good luck.

Thank you, Mikey.

For the last time this season,

is it cake?

Oh.

[tense music playing]

No!

[cheering and applause]

[Mikey] Not cake!

[Danya] Oh my God, yay!

[Mikey] Miko, well done.

You are one step closer
to being our Is It Cake? champion.

-Please come and reveal your cake.
-Okay.

[cheering]

-Yay, Miko!
-Go get it, Miko! Get it, Daddy!

[Taylor] Ooh. Oh!

[all exclaim] Oh!

Classic Miko!

-[Chris] Ah.
-No.

[all exclaim] Oh!

Wow. Wow.

-[Miko] Oh God.
-[cheering]

-[woman] You got this.
-[Danya chanting] Miko! Miko!

-Oh my God, bro.
-I'm shooketh.

[Mikey] Cutting cakes is hard. Trust me.

I know from experience.

Cut her head off!

I'm sorry, Mona Lisa.

So I have dark chocolate cake
with a peanut butter buttercream.

-Peanut brittle to give it some crunch.
-Can you eat the frame?

-Sure.
-The frame is what stumped me.

-[Jade] Oh my God.
-[Taylor] The peanut brittle's so good.

-Really good.
-Like a Reese's Pieces.

-[Taylor] It is like a Reese's Pieces.
-[Miko] It's tempered chocolate.

-[Taylor] Oh my God. That looks...
-That's all chocolate?

-Mmm!
-[Taylor] That looks crazy!

The buttercream stuff
that's peanut butter is so good. Yeah.

[Miko] Those crunchy things,
we have what we call pinyato.

My city where I was born,

we are known for peanuts
that are very small,

but then they're super sweet.

It's a rich cake with a rich backstory.

Man, this is one of the best cakes
I've ever had, bro.

-[Taylor] Yeah.
-Thank you.

Well, you know
I wish both of you could win.

Unfortunately, that's not possible.

So we need to give our judges some privacy

while they take a closer look
and taste your cakes again.

So, bakers, gallery, up on the cake wall.

[cheering]

Be careful!

Cake wall, spin.

[tense music plays]

[Jade] Oh!

-[Mikey] Corterrius has the torch.
-[Jade laughing] Yeah!

Be good.

Judges, in order to name a champion,

you will have to take
a much closer look at these cakes,

because it comes down to the taste,
and most importantly, the details.

Do whatever you need to do
so that you can pick a winner, okay?

-[Taylor] Wow. Oh my God.
-[Jade] My God! This is crazier up close.

[Chris] I can tell which one's a cake.

[laughter]

The detailing on these bag handles.

Yeah, the little... The stitching
on the leather is incredible.

Yeah, if you had me close my eyes
and put my hand on this

and go, "Is it a bag?"

I'd be like, "Yeah, it's a bag."

-I didn't even see this.
-Crazy, yo.

[Taylor] There's speckled paint
on the box cutter.

It's been in, like, a garage.

That's crazy!

-Look at that!
-[Chris] Look at the screw.

Oh, I got something.
I got the perfect thing for that.

The fact that there's two cakes in this,
and they're both incredible.

Why are you guys using forks?

-[chomps loudly]
-[laughs]

-[Taylor] The cobbler one...
-[Jade] The cobbler one's incredible.

All right, should we go
look at this masterpiece over here?

-I mean, insane.
-Come on.

This painting close up is even better.

-It's incredible.
-[Taylor] It is better up close.

I know. I can't get over the frame.

[Jade] It looks antiqued. The way he did
the gold, it looks a little worn out.

-Right here, that doesn't sound edible.
-Look how hard that is!

That doesn't sound like cake!

[Chris] The fact that he sat there
and painted on a cake, though.

And he got these baby hairs right.

-[Jade] Where are the baby hairs at?
-[Chris] The Mona Lisa baby hairs.

-Oh my God, bro.
-[Taylor] Oh my God.

All right, judges. Have you reached
a decision or do you need more time?

-I don't know. I can't choose.
-It's a hard one, man.

I am impressed by the Mona Lisa,
but that box cutter.

Close up, this is even more impressive,
and I honestly didn't expect that.

I thought we were gonna get up close
and it would be clearly that one.

I just don't know which to pick, you guys!

Guys, she took a piece of cake

and had to mold it,
structure it, shape it.

This one is a rectangle
and he had to paint it. Different skills.

The skill is making it look
like this is easier.

-[Jade] Right.
-[Chris] He had to do all this detailing.

But even close up, I'm looking at it now,
the tiny little specks

that she had to individually
put on all of this.

I mean, what's harder to make?
Tiny specks or tiny hairs?

We had a fierce debate.

I know.

-[sighs]
-Do you have a decision?

-We think so, Mikey Day.
-We think so.

Please return to your podiums

and place the name of our winner
in the envelope.

[Taylor] That was so hard.

[exhales]

Okay.

I don't know. I don't know!

They're both incredible.

-I feel good.
-You feel good about that?

-[Taylor] I think so. We did it.
-[Mikey] Okay.

Let's bring our bakers back.

Cake wall,

bring us our friends.

-Hey!
-Hey!

-[Mikey] Hey, bakers!
-Hello.

Hi!

-Miko and Elizabeth, please join me here.
-Okay.

Everyone else, kindly head to the gallery.

[sighs]

While you were
in the Upside Down back there,

our judges examined your cakes
from top to bottom,

fondant to filling,

and they took in all the details.

And, yes, they ate more too.

A lot.

Okay.

Let's do this.

Chris, may I have the envelope, please?

-[Danya] Envelope? Like the Oscars.
-Yes, an envelope.

You may have the envelope.

Judges, thank you for your service.

-Yay!
-[applause]

[tense, dramatic music playing]

I will say this was a photo finish.

Our judges went through
an agonizing deliberation.

More so than I've ever seen.

Here we go.

The winner is...

[tense music playing]

[exhales]

I don't know one.

All hail

the queen.

-Elizabeth!
-What the...?

[cheering and applause]

I told you!

-Elizabeth!
-[cheering and applause continues]

Congratulations!

[Liz cheers]

I told you!

[Mikey] Trying not to cry.

You are the new Is It Cake? champion.

-[woman] Oh, yes!
-[cheering]

-And you just won $75,000.
-[cheering]

Bringing your total winnings

to $90,000.

This is just amazing.
Amazing doesn't even cut it.

I never would have thought
in a million years

that I would be the champion
of Is It Cake?

All my dreams are literally coming true.

Elizabeth, you did it!

[cheering]

-Congratulations!
-[applause]

I'm so happy for Elizabeth.

She deserves it. She's amazing.

Being here on the show,
it changed me a lot.

Not just as an artist,
but also as a baker.

It actually boosted my... confidence level.

So I feel more comfortable now.

I feel like a winner, you know?

And I feel like I've accomplished a lot.

Now, Elizabeth!

-Your cake throne awaits, Your Majesty!
-[cheering]

-[contestant] Oh my God!
-[upbeat music playing]

[contestants exclaiming]

[Mikey] Her Majesty!

-[applause continues]
-[contestant] Oh my God!

Yay, Queen Elizabeth!

-And now...
-[majestic music plays]

-[laughs]
-[cheering]

Bakers, judges, come up here
to celebrate our champion!

[Elizabeth] I still can't believe it.

Just... Oh!

This? To be this? The champion?

That's just bloody bonkers to me. Like...

[Pete] Good work. You deserve this.
Told you not to worry.

-[laughs]
-[Pete chuckles]

[Elizabeth] I didn't think
that was ever gonna happen.

I'm so, so thankful and so happy,

and I'm just so glad
to have gotten the opportunity to be here.

I'm Mikey Day,
and I think you know what's next.

Cake wall, take us all home.

-We did it, season two!
-[cheering]

To the stitch witch!

-[upbeat music playing]
-[cheering]

[Mikey] Oh my God! Corterrius, help me!

[laughter]

[music fading]

[Mikey] Season two, baby!

[upbeat music playing]
