Is It Cake? (2022–…): Season 2, Episode 7 - Cake Me Out To The Ballgame - full transcript

A stressful semifinal brings sports-themed cakes - and a high-stakes double elimination. Game on. Guest judges: Jeff Dye, Chiney Ogwumike and Flula Borg.

-[tense music plays]
-[cheering and applause]

-[announcer] Ladies and gentlemen...
-[laughter]

-...welcome to the Is It Cake? semifinals.
-[woman] I knew it.

-And now, here's M-M-M-M-Mikey Day!
-[cheering and applause]

Yeah, yeah, it was a long run.

[cheering]

[Mikey] It was a long run.

Yeah, yeah.
I love you, I love you, I love you all.

I love you all, I love you all.

[grunts]

-Yeah!
-Whoo-hoo!

[laughter]

[grunts]

I did not know there'd be running!

[laughter]

The semifinals.

-[sighs] Yes, yes.
-[Mikey] This is exciting.

You are so close.

One cake away
from making it into the finale.

-Nervous? Excited?
-[Elizabeth] Yes!

Nervous.
-Both.

So, the pressure's on.

There are only three spots in the finale.

That means, no matter what,

two of you will be eliminated today.

[dramatic sting]

-It's time to play Find That Cake.
-[contestant] Yeah!

[upbeat drum rhythm]

-[music fades]
-[applause]

All right, bakers.

Coming around on the cake wall,
you will find a set of bleachers

filled with a bunch of sports stuff.

And don't worry, there is a cake
hidden within the stands.

Oh my God.

You will have 20 seconds
to write down your answer.

Your time starts now.

-[tense music playing]
-[timer beeping]

Fifteen seconds, bakers.

-[Danya] This is crazy.
-[Mikey] Ten seconds.

Lock it in!

Five, four, three, two, one.

-Time's up.
-[bell dings]

Let's see how you did.

I think I'm gonna need...

-a bat for this.
-[Spirit] Oh my gosh.

Oh my goodness.

So, look who it is. The bakers.

[laughing] Oh no.

Give me your fondant.

-Sorry. All right.
-[laughter]

-[tense music playing]
-Let's see.

-[Danya chuckling] Oh man.
-[laughing]

Not cake.

Pete, you look confident.

What did you pick?

Well, I really think it's the nachos.

You got the cheese sauce on top,
and the color of the hat.

-It just looks a little bit off to me.
-Let's find out.

-[Danya] Oh!
-[Elizabeth] Nope.

-Gross.
-Oh gross.

You're gonna need something for that.

-Sorry, Pete. That's all nacho.
-[Spirit and Elizabeth] Nacho cake.

-Dang it.
-Ooh, that's nacho cake.

Hmm.

[laughter]

Okay, Miko.

-Yes, Mikey.
-You picked the blue seat. Why?

Because the white band on the seat,
it looks very fondant-y.

Fondant-y?

-Yep. It does.
-That's a technical term.

-That's a new word. Fondant-y.
-[laughs]

Anyone else pick the blue seat?

Show of hands, class.

[laughs] Whoo.

Popular choice.

All right, Miko.
Let's see if you're right.

[tense music playing]

-Oh!
-[upbeat music playing]

Look at that, folks.

-That's cake!
-Okay.

That is cake.

The five of you will be competing today
for up to $20,000.

-Ooh, yes.
-Whoo!

Now, it's time to play...

Is It Cake?

[upbeat drum rhythm]

[music fades]

Each of you will choose a sports item
that you will replicate into a cake.

Your job, bakers, is simple.

Get into the finale.

Miko.

Hi, Mikey.

-You found the cake the fastest, sir.
-[woman] Wow.

-[Pete] Hey, good job.
-Oh my God.

-Oh, nice.
-You get first pick.

I want to do the nachos.

Interesting. Think you can crush that?

Yeah.

[Mikey] I like how you think.

Our second-fastest baker was...

-Elizabeth.
-Oh! [laughs]

Hi. What do you want to make?

I think I'm gonna go
for the softball mitt and ball.

That looks cakey to me,
so I can see why you would take it.

Third-fastest was...

Danya!

Oh, thank God!

What will you be picking?

I'm gonna do the cleat. I feel like
I could put a lot of detail in it.

Spirit, you were fourth.
What are you going to make?

[tense music playing]

I'll do the helmet.

[Mikey] All right,
Spirit's doing the helmet.

-Yeah.
-And finally, Provo Pete.

[tense music playing]

-I'm gonna do the food tray thing.
-[Danya] It's very exciting.

Very exciting.

Good job.

Great picks, everyone. I am psyched.

This is gonna be a good game.

The five of you will be competing
for up to $20,000

and a coveted spot in the finale.

Nice.

Woo-woo!

But two of you will be eliminated today.

So take big swings, bakers.

Mm, you know it.

You'll have eight hours
to complete your cakes.

Now it's time to bake!

-Go get 'em, team.
-Whoo-hoo!

[Mikey] I believe in you, team!

[energizing music playing]

-Sorry.
-No, you're good. Sorry, Miko!

I am so excited.

I love sports. I grew up playing sports.

I was an aggressive inline skater
when I was a teenager

on, like, half-pipes and stuff.

I play sports with my kids.

We play baseball
in our front yard all the time.

We're a pretty active family.
We have a lot of fun.

Hey, Petey Pablo,
what flavor are you making?

I am making a lemon strawberry cake

with a strawberry Italian buttercream,

and a white chocolate ganache

with the feuilletine flakes in there
to add some crunch.

Feuilletine flakes is like
a thin crêpe batter that you crush up,

and you put that into your chocolate
and it remains crunchy.

Similar to, like,
a candy bar kind of crunch,

and they're gonna love it.

That sounds so good.

I'm going a little bit different
this time. I haven't gone fruity yet.

-Join the fruity side.
-Yes. I'm going fruity this time.

The snack caddy has countless textures,
colors, and small little items.

There are a lot of elements on this cake.

-So let's see how this goes.
-[ding]

Ooh.

I'm about to make the butterscotch sauce.

Why? Why is it sports?

My entire family loves sports.

My brother literally worked
for an NFL football team.

My dad is a basketball coach.

My mom is, like,
the biggest basketball fan.

She'll be hooting and hollering
in the house whenever a game is on.

[laughing] I just do not care.

I... I'm the weird artist.

[Elizabeth]
Danya, what flavors are you doing?

Picture it. Sicily, 1935.

-Okay, Golden Girl.
-A beautiful peasant girl.

You are too young
to be quoting Golden Girls.

I'm gonna hopefully transport the judges
to Central America.

I'm making a cinnamon churro cake

with a Mexican chocolate ganache,

cinnamon French buttercream,

with a cinnamon crunch toffee layer.

Ooh, nice!

Spice it up
with some cayenne and cinnamon.

I was drawn to the cleat
because it's small and manageable,

but it does have a lot of detail

that I think up close
would be very impressive to the judges.

The only thing that's really tricky
is that color.

That neon, glow-in-the-dark color, I just...

It's not something
that's super doable in cake.

I picked another thing
with damn freaking stitching on it.

There's a lot of pressure
all riding on this particular bake,

because this is
what is going to potentially

get us through to the finals.

You're really good with details.

Yeah, but this one has, like,
the most time-consuming stitching

out of any cake I've done.

A glove is not flat.

For the glove to look real
and for the cake to be convincing,

I actually have to do
the curved shape of the mitt.

So I have to make, like,
a bowl sit on its side.

I'm gonna chop my finger
if I'm not careful.

Elizabeth, what are you over there making?

My two favorite things are caramel corn
and churros whenever I go to a game.

-Oh wow.
-[laughs]

-Churro.
-Yes.

I'm making a cinnamon-flavored cake,

dulce de leche cream cheese,

and also a layer of apple pie filling.

The apple will actually give
a nice little tartness

to balance out all the caramel
and all the brown sugar.

Boop, there it is.

Fingers crossed.

[Danya] Um, do you guys know
where the nuts are?

You have one here.

[laughter]

[Miko] I don't like sports.

I'm sorry, but I really hate it.

Seeing those nachos,
I was like, "That's the one for me,"

because they're imperfect,
and if the helmet is not perfect,

I could put some nachos on the side
to hide all the imperfections.

Hey, Miko, what flavor are you making?

I'm making a vanilla confetti cake
with vanilla buttercream,

a salted dulce de leche filling,

and a layer of peanut brittle,

which we call pinyato in the Philippines...

-Ooh.
-...to add some crunch in it, like texture.

-How fancy does that sound?
-It's just peanut brittle.

[Elizabeth] It's still fancy.

I have so many things to do.
I have the jalapeños.

I have the beans, cilantro, tomatoes,

chicken meat, sour cream, and cheese,

which I'm going to create using fondant,
and then I'm gonna hand-paint them.

At the end of the bake,
there will only be three people standing,

and they will be the best of the best.

-Good luck, Spirit.
-Thank you. Good luck!

It is the semifinals! My gosh.
Like, I'm feeling this theme here.

The natural competitive spirit in sports
is very appropriate.

Oh, yes.

Have I won any money yet?

Nah, but I plan on it.

-Hey, Spirit, what are you making today?
-I need a payday.

[laughter]

[Spirit] I'm going to recreate
the PayDay candy bar into a cake.

So I'm making a butter cake
with a cream cheese filling,

butter popcorn pastry cream,

and peanut butter toffee sauce.

The peanut butter toffee
tastes like the nougat in the PayDay.

Oh, you fancy, huh?

I like the candy bar, but it'd be nice
to have a payday too, you know?

-That sounds delicious.
-Mm-hmm.

I'm attempting to recreate
a softball helmet in eight hours.

I do foresee some possible problems,
because it needs to be smooth,

everything seamless.

Cake going in the oven.

The finale is coming up,
and I want to have a chance.

I have to make sure it looks like a helmet
far away and up close too.

Okay.

All right.

Oh God, the wall is spinning.

Yes!

Bakers, I'm here with your sports decoys.

-All right. Let's do this.
-Wow!

Come on up.

Remember, you're only getting two decoys.

Oh no. As you destroy them.

My bad.

-[Miko] This is so tempting.
-[Danya] To eat the nachos?

Helmet nachos!

[upbeat music playing]

[Spirit] I'm gonna do one layer at a time.

[Danya] This is insane.

[Miko] I'm just doing the details.

[Pete] All right, we got this.

[Elizabeth] Because the glove
wasn't complicated enough. Release!

What do we think?

-Miko?
-Oh, close.

-[Elizabeth] Good?
-Yup.

Are you about to make
fluorescent colors too?

I'm gonna try.

The texture of the soccer cleat
is very plasticky.

I feel like the best way
to replicate plastic

is with melted chocolate.

It has that nice sheen.

All right. This color's so off.

I think I'm just gonna end up,
like, dulling the paint on their decoys.

Hey, Miko. You good over there?

The thing I'm worried is the structure
of the helmet 'cause it's the cake itself.

How about you?
We're almost actually the same.

The sphere? Yeah.

Except there's a lot of indentations here.

I'm using tempered chocolate
to recreate the exact shell of the helmet.

I'm just trying
to get chocolate everywhere.

All this is cracking down here.

-Does it matter?
-Oh, interesting.

You have to use tempered chocolate
and seal it together,

like sealing any of your cracks.

You can just shave it down, Spirit.
Just get it done.

With all this chocolate, I'm noticing
that I'm running out of room for cake.

Give me a hard time.
You're not gonna stress me.

I'm just having to literally
take one layer of cake

and put it into the cake at a time.

Let's pray it works.

I hate that I'm having
to disassemble my cake,

but I'm still trying to do it
as clean as possible.

It's annoying, is what it is.

-Elizabeth?
-[Elizabeth] Yeah?

Can I ask help from you?

-If you can...
-[Elizabeth] Lift it up?

Yep. Thank you so much.

Looks good!

[Miko] You want some chips?

If I turn around and hear... [munching]

That's me.

[laughing] Yep.

As much as possible,
I want the nachos to look very realistic.

My fingers are a little sore now. [laughs]

I am painting each of those nachos
with dark brown food color

to mimic those burn marks.

I'm actually like
a factory of nachos right now.

Oh my God, there's dust.

[dramatic music playing]

Mikey Day here for Cake 15 Sports,

for some play-by-play.

[in a British accent]
Dan Cutfork here for an exciting bake.

Moving over to Elizabeth.

As the time ticks down,
will the stitching be stitched in time?

If anyone can do it, Elizabeth can.

[Elizabeth] Nobody breathe.

My chocolate structure
actually comes out perfectly,

but I can only get so much cake in there.

I taut my cakes nice and thin

so I can get
all my flavor profile in there.

It's gonna be really tricky.

Awesome. Okay. Love it.

I mean, this is the semifinals.
This could be my last chance.

Just really, really would love to win.

I'm getting married next year,
but all my family is still in England.

I would love to be able to pay
for all of the plane tickets

That's a nice sight to see.

You have a glove!

[in a British accent] Very excited here.

Pete's going over and using the sheeter.

This is my favorite part.
Look at that. His form is spectacular.

Not all the bakers have a form like that,

but Pete is known for his flair.

Have you used a dehydrator before?

Yes. Bear in mind I've used it once.

-Yeah.
-[laughs]

And if I'm the expert,
then we're all in trouble.

My snack caddy is craft brown paper.

I'm using gum paste,

because gum paste

Left, right, front.

I use edible glue,
a little bit of tempered chocolate,

to hold together

-Step-by-step, right?

If I win, I'm definitely

She deserves it so much.

I'm, like, putting together
a puzzle over here.

[Danya] It appears to be...

Oh, it looks fine.

That bright, bright glow from the neon

is something
that I definitely need to work on.

Oh, this is not right.

The only option I have
is to use the neon dust

and lightly powder it

to make sure that the coloring
is exactly the same as the decoy.

I hope it doesn't mess up.

[Mikey] Two hours left, bakers.

[Spirit] When you're making a helmet,
it's really a challenge,

because these are things
that people see often.

If it has any imperfection,
dents, whatever,

you might as well not waste your time.

Oh, goodness. [sighs]

I'm looking at all the imperfection
on this helmet

and I'm grabbing everything I can

to make sure
that all the grooves are there,

all the extra chocolate is gone,

because if the cake is covered
and it doesn't grab onto those details,

it's just gonna look
like one big, white ball

with blue stripes on it.

This is gonna take a lot of time.

♪ We gonna make it work ♪

There we go.

[Elizabeth] Looking at the glove
more closely,

I do notice that the stitching
is two different colors.

Black on top,
and, like, an off-white underneath.

I'm gonna be in stitching hell over here.

I roll out black
and off-white fondant, layer them,

and bingo, I've got a piece of off-white
on the bottom and black-on-top fondant.

I feel like I've graduated.

I've gone from single-side stitching
to double-sided.

[gasping]

Let's hope
someone appreciates this detail.

I'm even fluffing the edges of my leather.

[in a British accent]
Spirit always has tricks up her sleeve.

Miko, coming off a stellar win
with his salt lamp cake,

but nachos are different than a lamp.

Tension is palpable.

Texture detail is everything
in this competition.

For the chicken and the jalapeños,
I am using fondant.

It has smooth, rough textures.

For the tomatoes,
I'm making them using gelatin.

Gelatin has, like, this particular shine.

I'm making the cilantro using wafer paper.

I'm an artist, so I love it.

I love details.
I love to hand-sculpt things.

Oh my God. This is marathon.

I'm so not yet done.

One hour left.

And there can only be
one Is It Cake? champion.

All right.

I am making my straws out of gum paste,

and I draw the red lines
using an edible marker.

I got so much stuff left to do.

I want to make my popcorn
look like real popcorn.

I'm taking mini marshmallows,
tear it apart with my hands,

and airbrushing them.

From far away, it looks like popcorn.

Almost there, almost there. Okay.

I am making the hot dog out of fondant.

-Look it!
-It's perfect.

Well, it looked like uncooked hot dog.

And then I airbrush it golden brown,
just like the decoys.

I've never been this down to the wire.

I have this beautiful helmet

Ist es Kuchen?

Ja, ist es Kuchen?!

-[laughs]
-[Flula] Yes.

[tense music playing]

-[Chiney] Oh!
-[Flula] Oh, great!

-Nope. Not cake.
-[Flula] Great!

-[woman] Yay.
-[Mikey] Congrats, Elizabeth.

You deceived our judges,
and you are up for the win

and a spot in the finale.

-Good work.
-[woman] Good job.

-[Jeff] It's all that time crunch.
-The stitch witch!

All right, let's go to your second choice.

It's Five.

[suspenseful music playing]

-Oh!
-[Jeff] Whoa!

No!

I was able to get it wrong twice
on this one.

That's cake?

[Chiney] Wow!

[judges] Oh!

-[Chiney] You dropped the ball.
-[Jeff] Eat it.

[Chiney] Oh, it's cake. Impressive.

-That's cake!
-Yeah!

[Mikey] Well done, Elizabeth.

Okay, let's move on to Miko.

You picked Number Eight.

Why?

I just felt like the color of the helmet
was different than the other ones.

-[Jeff] Correct. It's got a chalky like...
-[Chiney] Yes.

Lotion. Like lotion has been applied
to moisturize.

-[Jeff] Like pine tar.
-It's got a gloss to it. Gloss.

All right, Miko, let me remind you.

If this is cake,
you're up for elimination.

If it's not, you're up for the win today
and a spot in the finale.

-Okay.
-[Mikey] Good luck.

[tense music playing]

-[judges] Oh!
-No. Not cake!

Simply a moisturized helmet.

[laughing]

Miko, you fooled our judges

and you're up for the win today
alongside Elizabeth.

You're also one step closer to the finale.

-[applause]
-Well done.

Nice, Miko.

All right, judges.

Did you have a second choice?

After that, I'm stumped.

I'm thinking potentially Number Nine?

-[Flula] Definitely, yes.
-[Jeff] Nine's got an odd shape.

-[Flula] Yes, Nine, all day.
-You guys seem on board about Number Nine.

-It's got the flattest top.
-[Flula] Yes.

-All right.
-Ist es Kuchen?

Let's see if you're right
in hindsight here.

Ooh.

-Oh, wow.
-[Chiney] There we go!

-That looks like cake.
-[Jeff] I'm still not sure.

The nacho smells made a mixing
with the cakey mixes

and then confused my human nose.

[laughs] All right.

Elizabeth and Miko, congrats,
you are one step closer to the finale.

Danya, since the judges found your cake,
you are up for elimination.

But we still have a second spin,

so let's move on
to our final two bakers here,

-Spirit and Pete.
-[cheering and applause]

Cake wall, spin.

[tense music playing]

There are six objects
coming in on the cake wall.

-Two of them are cake.
-Wow.

Oh my goodness.

You have 20 seconds.

Your time starts now.

[Chiney] Okay, we're going helmets,
so quickly...

[Flula] One is blue!

The shine isn't perfected,
so maybe that's a cake?

[Flula] What about Number Two?
It looks like a helmet.

[Jeff] They're trying to throw us off
with Two.

[Chiney] Three is literally
a perfect helmet.

[Jeff] I don't think
they could make that cage.

[Chiney] There's a cage on Three,
and no cages on the others.

Number Four looks pretty real.

-[Flula] An accurate wiener on Four.
-[Mikey] Ten seconds.

-[Jeff] Five looks most unlike the others.
-[Chiney] Five?

And I'm looking for the foil.

[Flula] Oh, look at Number Six.

[Chiney] There's a hot dog foil.
The foil could be a giveaway.

-Three would be too hard to do. One?
-[Flula] One on the blue helmet!

Five seconds.

-It's not Two.
-I have no idea.

-Lock it in!
-[timer beeping]

-[Flula] And there it is!
-Time's up!

-All right, nice! I wanted Five.
-Wow! Excellent.

[applause]

[Mikey] I'm impressed.
You guys work well as a team.

Okay, judges, let's start with Spirit.

Now, judges, you picked Number One.

There's a lot of little details
that are on there

that are very specific

-to make it look more real.
-Ooh.

[Jeff] The black lines around the edges,
the three dots in the front.

I think One is the perfect balance
of, like, it looks real,

but it's got a few imperfections.

Spirit, if this is cake, you're up
for elimination along with Danya.

If it's not, you're up for the win,

and one step closer to the finale
along with Elizabeth and Miko.

[suspenseful music playing]

-[judges] Oh!
-[Mikey] That's not cake.

[applause]

A wild ride, Spirit!

You fooled our judges,
and you are up for the win.

-Yay, Spirit!
-[Mikey] Along with Miko and Elizabeth.

Wow.

Number Two, are you a helmet?

[Mikey] Hold on.

-I'm seeing chocolate.
-[Chiney] Mmm!

It's a lot of chocolate.

-[Mikey] Hold on!
-You got this, Mikey!

-If you need help...
-Spirit, you wanna come help?

Sure. I'll help.

[imitates cutting sound]

-[Chiney] Yeah!
-[man] Just stab it!

-Oh!
-[man] Oh wow, that works.

[Pete] There we go.

[Mikey] Wow!

-Whoo!
-[Chiney] Yes!

-And you presented it to camera.
-[Chiney] Okay!

Thank you, Spirit. That was incredible.

Good job.

In my defense, I got it started.

[laughter]

All right, let's move on to Pete.

You picked Number Five.

It's the one that doesn't look
like the other two hot dogs.

And if you look at the cardboard,

it looks like cakes.

They sort of carry their density
on the bottom.

And that is where, you know,
a lot of that cardboard is wrinkly.

Of all the snack daddies,
it's... it's the one.

Pete, if this is cake,
you will be eliminated along with Danya.

If it's not, you're up for the win
and a spot in the finale,

along with Miko, Elizabeth, and Spirit.

[suspenseful music playing]

-[man] Wait.
-[Mikey] Oh, that's...

-[Flula] What?
-[Mikey] ...cake!

[chuckling]

[Mikey] And Danya and Pete,

unfortunately, you two are eliminated.

This has been the most fun competition,
and best of luck to you guys.

This has been an incredible experience.

To be able to compete alongside
of such incredible bakers and artists

has just been incredible.

Very well said.

[cheering and applause]

[ding]

Danya, I'm going to miss you.

I'll miss you too, Mikey.

-I feel like you were my little sister.
-That's so sweet.

You two will be missed.

[applause]

I was in the top five,
and that is incredible.

-Let's go.
-Let's go.

Coming on this competition has been
an opportunity to show to my kids...

So, yeah.
Oh, sorry, I'm getting choked up a bit.

I want them to see the work that it takes
to be able to make your dreams come true.

-Bye, Mikey.
-[Mikey] I love you both.

Evidently, I am not moving out.

I will be at my mom's house
probably forever.

[laughing] I'm just kidding. Um...

I'm a semifinalist somehow.

I had never even baked a cake
before, like, four and a half years ago.

So it's given me a confidence boost
to have accomplished something really big.

I'm really excited for all
of the opportunities that are ahead of me.

On the upside, Danya,
you're going home with $10,000.

Best of luck, you guys.

[Mikey] Pete, you're going home
with $5,000.

-Not bad.
-Thank you.

-[Mikey] Love you. Bye, guys.
-[Danya] You guys deserve this.

Congrats to Elizabeth, Miko, and Spirit.

-You fooled the judges.
-Whoo!

You are going to the finale.

-Congratulations.
-[Spirit laughs]

All right, judges,

what do you say we taste
the finalists' cakes up for the win?

-Yes!
-That's why I came!

-That's why you're here.
-[laughs]

Cake wall, spin.

[dramatic music playing]

[Jeff] Oh, I remember these cakes.

-Please go taste and inspect the cakes.
-How exciting.

-Thank you, gentlemen.
-[Flula] Of course.

All right, Elizabeth,
please tell the judges

about the flavors in your cake.

So I have for you a dulce de leche
cinnamon churro cake,

with an apple pie filling.

-This is incredible.
-It's delicious.

-I can't believe how real this looks.
-[Elizabeth] Thank you.

[Jeff] That lace looks exactly
like the leather on a baseball.

-Yes, and also apples.
-Yes.

-How you like them apples?
-Exactly.

-[laughing]
-The detailing is phenomenal.

I still think it's a baseball mitt.

I'm still confused as well, yes.

All right, Miko, tell the judges
about the flavors in your cake, please.

My cake is actually
a vanilla confetti cake,

which has vanilla buttercream,

and then a layer of peanut brittle,

which in the Philippines, we call pinyato.

I got, like, a pleasant surprise.

-What was it?
-The crunch!

That's the peanut brittle,
but then you also have...

-What is this here?
-[Miko] Vanilla buttercream.

So it's sweet, but salty,

and peanut brittle, crunchy.

It has a layer of salted dulce de leche.

Dulce de leche all day long
up in this helmet.

[laughter]

Tastes delicious, but the fact
that it looks like cheese and jalapeños,

it's messing with my brain.

Spirit, please tell the judges
about the flavors in your cake.

I made you a brown sugar vanilla cake

-with a butter popcorn pastry cream...
-Wow.

...and a peanut butter toffee
with a cream cheese icing.

I taste the peanuts. They are delicious.

-Thank you very much.
-[laughter]

This looked least like a helmet to me
out of the three.

That's why I didn't choose it.

Did you intentionally not paint it?
Trying to trick us?

-Were you playing little games with us?
-Of course I did. It's a game show.

-So yeah.
-Nice. This tastes delicious.

Thank you very much.

Okay, judges.

You've tasted all the cakes
up for the win,

so please take a moment
and decide who our winner will be.

[whispering] I think the helmet,

we all know there were probably issues
on the decorative side,

so I think we nail it down to these two.

-[Flula] Yes.
-[Jeff] Okay.

So I think that the best combination,
honestly, was the nachos.

That artistry is wild.

[Flula] I know. I agree with you.

Those chips still look like chips
and I just ate one.

But even as I'm standing up here now,
the mitt tasted and looked the best.

The mitt had such unreal levels of detail,

including how they made it
feel like a glove. Phenomenal.

-[Jeff] Right.
-This is very difficult.

I don't know which one to pick.

Okay, judges, have you reached a decision?

We have, Your Honor.

[Mikey] All right, well,

who is our winner?

This was really hard.

The detailing on particularly two of these
were phenomenal.

What pushed us over the edge was taste.

And the winner is...

[suspenseful music playing]

Elizabeth!

-[Mikey] Elizabeth!
-[applause]

-Wow! Three wins!
-Good job.

-Elizabeth, you just won $5,000, at least.
-Yeah!

You will move on
to our Cake Or Cash? round

for a chance at another $15,000.

All right, bakers,
give it up for our judges!

-Whoo!
-Thank you, Jeff, Chiney, and Flula!

-[judges] Oh!
-[laughter]

-Hang on, judges!
-Yeah, we're fine.

-We're just gonna go ahead.
-It's a wild ride.

-This way, buddy! Come on.
-[Flula] Meet you on the other side.

-No, help. Where you at?
-[contestants] Oh my God.

-This is an Abbott and Costello.
-[laughter]

-Wow.
-What are they doing?

Well, Elizabeth, I'm super excited.

-Me too.
-[Mikey] I think you know why.

Say it with me into that camera.

It's time to play...

[both] Cake Or Cash?

-[Elizabeth laughs]
-[dramatic music playing]

-Elizabeth, you just won $5,000.
-I know!

-That's a lot of money.
-Yeah! [chuckles]

But all of us here want you to win more.

[applause]

Rich, rich, rich!

So you're about to play
for the chance to win another $15,000.

-She got it.
-All you have to do is find the cake.

If you don't find the cake,

that money gets added to the prize pot,

which is now $60,000
for the Is It Cake? champion.

So let's do this.

This is your third time up here.

Yes, it is.

-Third time's the charm, right?
-Ah. Fingers crossed.

Cake wall, spin!

All right. On the other side
of the cake wall, Elizabeth,

are two sports drink coolers.

One of those coolers is filled with cash,

-and the other one is cake.
-Oh, crap.

If you guess the cake, you get the cash.

You have 15 seconds,

and your time starts now.

-[Elizabeth] What the heck?!
-[laughter]

-[Spirit] You got it, girl.
-[Miko] Yep.

[tense music playing]

[Mikey] Five seconds.
You gotta lock it in.

[timer beeping]

-[Mikey] Three, two, one. Lock it in!
-[bell dings]

Time's up.

-You all right?
-No!

-I will delay your suffering no longer.
-[Elizabeth] Thank you.

-Let's find out.
-Oh my God.

-Come on.
-[Mikey] You picked Number Two.

-[Elizabeth] I did.
-[Mikey] Why do you think this is cake?

I thought maybe it looks
like there's slightly more shine

on Number One at the top.

More shine.

So I thought this one looks
a little bit more fondant, cake-ish.

Mm, I see.

You've already won $5,000.

If this is a cake,
you will win another $15,000,

bringing you to a grand total of $20,000.

Yes, baby.

What are we gonna do with the money?
Still planning that ceiling?

I will repair the ceiling and floor
from the flooding

and put a little bit towards my wedding.

[all] Aww.

Oh my gosh. You have to win.

No, 'cause I'm terrible at this.

[suspenseful music playing]

I just suck at guessing them.

-Dang it!
-Told you.

[both] Aww!

I'm sorry, Elizabeth.

-You didn't find the cake.
-It's okay.

But you've won $15,000
in this competition so far,

and you're going to the finale,

-so things are looking up for Elizabeth.
-Yes. Whoo! Yeah.

I'm still really, really grateful.

This is a very realistic-looking cake.

-No! What?
-[Elizabeth] Yeah.

[laughs]

How?

-[Mikey] Ooh, look at that.
-[applause]

-[Spirit] It's pretty.
-[Mikey] That looks like cake!

-It is.
-[chuckles]

-Miko and Spirit, please join Elizabeth.
-Yes, of course.

Come on! Come on!

Bad cake.

[Miko chuckles]

-[Elizabeth grunts]
-Oh my gosh.

And then there were three.

Since Elizabeth didn't win Cake Or Cash?,

that $15,000 goes into the finale pot,

which is now a grand total of $75,000.

That's a lot of money.

All right, we are heading
into the finale right now,

and one of you will be crowned
the Is It Cake? champion

and walk away with all that cash.

Who will it be?

Will it be Miko,
the pride of the shadow people?

Spirit, the Los Angeles queen
of the straight edge?

Or Elizabeth,
who refuses to win Cake Or Cash?

[laughter]

-Who will win?!
-The finale! We're going!

-We're going! We're going!
-[laughter]

[upbeat music playing]
