Ghost Hunters (2004–…): Season 14, Episode 1 - Bloodiest 47 Acres Redux - full transcript

Amy Bruni and Adam Berry join TAPS as they revisit Missouri State Penitentiary. The team investigate what is behind the staff's disturbing encounters.

Did you commit the murder?

[Narrator] One of the most
dangerous penitentiaries...

It's called "the bloodiest
47 acres in America".

[Narrator]
...has been reawakened...

There's been an uptick.

One of our guides just saw
a full body apparition.

I've been grabbed,
I've been touched.

[Narrator] ...by the spirit
of cold-blooded killers.

When I turned, there was a man
in my face...

but then I took off
out of the building.

Actually found
some old Centennial Cells.

We're the first who were ever
going to be able to check these things out.

[Narrator] The reunited TAP
team is back.

- Did somebody just...
- Yeah, I just heard that.

You did hear that?

- Okay!
- Totally heard that.

Hello!

- There was a "hello" back.
- No way!

There was a "hello" back.

Missouri State Penitentiary.

- It's been a while, Jay.
- Ten years.

[Narrator] The TAPS team is
headed to Jefferson City Missouri,

for a haunted reunion.

We're meeting up at the
Missouri State Penitentiary,

a 168-year old prison.

TAPS has been contacted agai by
one of the prison security officers,

due to an uptick
in paranormal activity.

We're being brought in
by Les Martin, police officer.

He's worried.

He's wondering do any of the
employees have anything to worry about,

because the activity
has really picked up.

It's become more aggressive, especially
since they... they found new cells.

It's the Centennial Cells,
they're calling them.

And we're going to be the first team
to be able to investigate those new cells

- that they just found.
- That's so cool!

But we seem to have a
whole bunch of stuff going on.

Female apparitions, there's been,
like, supposedly doppelgangers

of some
of the security guards.

Don't forget we have, you know,
these crawlers all over the place.

- I mean, if you want to fill in Dave and Shari.
- Yeah, for sure!

Jay and Steve!
Or, Dave and Shari.

Go for Dave and Shari.

We're just chatting
about the case here,

and we have these new cells that
they're calling the Centennial Cells.

We get to be the first team to
ever investigate these new cells,

so that's pretty awesome.

- Let's do this right.
- That's why we're here.

It's a massive property with
a lot of aggressive activity.

We're bringing
in some old friends

who investigated this place
with us a long time ago.

Amy and Adam
will be joining us,

and we've got Dustin
coming in.

I'm just excited about this,
man.

I love it. We've got
the gang back together.

Here it is. Oh, yes, you just
pull up on the prison wall.

Wow! Here it is! Look at this!

Holy crap! This place is huge.

[Narrator] TAPS case, Missouri State
Penitentiary Jefferson City, Missouri.

- Les?
- Hey, Jason! Nice to meet you, man!

- Steve!
- How's it going?

- Great! Great!
- It's been a long time since we've been here.

Well, I'm glad you guys
are here.

Tell me about the stuff
that's been going on.

I work security here, we're
in this building all the time.

You hear things, you see things,
and it's really unexplainable.

Being a former law enforcement
officer,

I've got a lot of questions
that I want answered.

- And this prison was built when?
- 1836.

[Narrator] The Missouri Stat
Penitentiary is known

as "the bloodiest 47 acres
in America".

It housed some of the country's
most notorious criminals,

including Pretty Boy Floyd
and James Earl Ray.

Since the prison
was decommissioned in 2004,

it has become a hotbed
of paranormal activity.

Activity's always been
going on.

But I'm hearing that it's
picked up even more now,

since you guys found
these Centennial Cells?

There's been an uptick.

They dug up those cells and, you know,
you disturb something, you wake it up.

[Narrator] A block of priso cells believed
to be one of the oldest structures,

called Centennial Hall,
were recently unearthed.

It's possible that disturb in these grounds
have awakened whatever was buried below.

I actually got an arm grab.

No one was even around, and
I went, "Oh, wow", you know?

- Okay.
- There's been other staff,

people that have been,
you know, touched, pinched.

I've been grabbed, I've been
touched, I've had... I've been talked to.

We get targeted just because
we're that authority figure.

[Narrator]
At the penitentiary,

the old dynamic between inma
and prison guard

seems to be alive again.

The spirits are directing
their aggression

towards tour guides
and security personnel,

especially in the unit next to
the unearthed Centennial Cells.

There's some places
in this prison

that we do not feel
comfortable going to,

even with me having a badge
and a gun.

And 3D is one of those places.

It's underneath Death Row.

They used to house inmates and
they were a little hard to control.

There's a feeling of dread
down there, and despair.

People complain
of nausea, headaches.

Yet, when you leave the area, within a
matter of minutes, you're perfectly fine.

I was down in 3D.
I got really cold.

When I turned, there was a
man in my face, just screaming.

He just disappeared, and I
took off out of the building.

And when I lifted up my shirt, there was
a scratch right on my ribs about this long.

That's probably the scariest thing
that's ever happened to me, by far.

[Narrator] In housing unit 3 which is
also referred to as Solitary Confinement,

witnesses have heard voices
footsteps, and seen shadow figures.

These anomalies have also be
seen upstairs on Death Row..

Where an inmate was murdere
during the 1954 prison riot

Walter Lee Donnell
was housed in Death Row.

He was an inmate
that was a snitch,

and he was housed down there
for his protection.

And during the 1954 riot, the
group of guys that he had snitched on

went down there into his cell,
and opened it up,

and beat him
to death with a sledgehammer.

Times on some of the tours, where
we'll be standing down there in the dark,

and I'll see shadows walk
either from in the cell to out,

or out in the hallway
to in that cell.

[Narrator] Hundreds of inmat died
at the prison, some by execution.

How many people died
in the gas chamber here?

Forty people died.

I know that there were 39 by the
gas, and then, one by lethal injection.

[Narrator] A notorious coupl who
met their demise in the gas chamber

were Bonnie Heady
and Carl Austin Hall.

They were executed in 1953
for kidnapping,

and brutally murdering a six-year-old
boy named Bobby Green lease.

They held hands as their sentence
was Carrie out inside the gas chamber.

This area also holds remnant
from its past.

When we were here last
to investigate it,

we remember seeing female
and male apparitions.

Are these things
still happening?

One of our guides just saw a
full-body apparition this past weekend.

I saw a blonde female
apparition up in Housing Unit 1

in the women's department.

I was sitting
on the fire escape steps,

and when I glanced up... there
was a female with long blonde hair

just, kind of, leaning over
and looking at me.

[Narrator] Visitors to the
women's war also report

seeing shadows of a woman
in a long black dress.

Well, now we're also hearing
reports of guards

seeing, pretty much,
doppelgangers of other,

which is, you know, a duplicate
of other guards, walking through.

Someone thought that I was in a
place, when I was doing security.

I wasn't in that place.

So, they actually recognized
your specific face

- Oh, yes!
- Okay! That's cool!

Just trying to think
if it was, you know,

could be a guard from a
previous era or whatever,

but if they recognized
your face,

then that fits more along the
lines of an actual doppelganger.

- So, do you feel targeted?
- Yeah! Yeah!

What are you hoping, Les, that
we're able to accomplish here?

I want you guys to tell me I'm,
you know, that I... I saw what I saw.

So, you want us to tell you you're
not crazy. Is what you're saying?

Yes. The fact that security and
law enforcement that work here,

- can have peace of mind...
- Okay.

- All right!
- Well, Les, I appreciate you taking the time.

I think, from here, we'll go
talk to the rest of the crew

and start setting up
equipment.

- Cool!
- Thank you so much!

Thank you!

- Hey, gang!
- Hey!

- Hi!
- What's going on?

Adam and I are here.

We were part of the TAPS team
for many, many years.

This was the perfect place
for us to have a bit of a reunion.

So, it's really nice
to be back.

We got the whole gang!

It was really great to get the
call to come back on the road

with these guys, you know.

It's... it's been a long time.

We definitely missed
the van huddle.

- Yeah, we did!
- We talk about it about it all the time.

But we made sure we saved
a ton of cable for you, though.

- Oh, great! Perfect!
- That's awesome!

Just got done talking
with Les.

They found
these Centennial Cells here.

Since they uncovered them,
activity's gone through the roof,

people being scratched,
seeing all types of apparitions.

They have opened up this brand
new space called Centennial Cells,

and I'm interested to find out

if spirits that could have been
lingering inside of those cells escaped,

and are causing a ruckus,
really, all over the place.

I remember last time we were
here, we saw a lot of shadow figures.

Yeah, tall ones peeking
around the corner.

- That's right there. Like a shadow.
- Yeah!

I mean, it was crazy
when we were here before.

So, I can't imagine
if it's elevated from that.

We got a lot of ground
to cover.

- We got a lot of things to set up.
- We sure do.

All right, let's get going!
Let's get connected.

It's great to be back here
at Missouri State Pen.

It seems to hold and
help create a lot of activity.

Maybe get a shot of just
that... of the other building.

- So we know who goes in and out.
- Like right there?

Looks good.

It's sad to say, but
people lost their lives here.

A lot of times that traumatic energy
gets trapped within a structure.

- Get some of that over there.
- And then the woman working on top.

- Yep!
- People being scratched and grabbed.

We do have to take
into consideration

that something here might be
more aggressive than it was last time.

Hand right on that one.

We're going to be cautious, but
we're also going to be prepared.

All right, guys,
so camera one.

This is where the women's
ward is.

We have the lobby
and the entrance.

Camera two. This is the
outside of the same entrance,

so we can see who goes in,
goes out.

Camera three. This is the second
and third floor of the women's prison.

This is where they've seen
the lady in black.

Camera four.
This is the first floor.

Camera five. This is the
outside of the entrance,

where we could see who goes in
and goes out.

- Great idea!
- And we're running a bunch of the Wi-Fi ones...

- All in building three, because it's very hard to get.
- It's great!

- Yep! Okay. Covered.
- So, we're covered.

Yeah! All right. Well, I think at this
point, we're set to get investigating.

Right. Where do you two want
to start?

- Oh, we get our pick?
- We'll let you guys pick first.

- Solitary.
- Yeah! For sure, Solitary.

All right. And Dave, if you, Shari and
Dustin want to take the woman's building...

- Love to.
- ...Steve and I will head into Death Row.

All right? Sounds good.

Let's go! Lights out, and get
the equipment and get going.

- All right!
- Lights out.

Let's do this!

Jay and Steve in Death Row.

Last time we were here,
we encountered voices

and residual sounds all over
the cell blocks.

[bleep]

- What the hell was that?
- That was voices. That was male voices.

So, we know there was a riot
on the entire property,

and they were able
to get over here

and kill Walter Lee Donnell
with a sledgehammer.

My name's Jason.

This is my friend, Steve.

Hello!

Walter Donnell...

we hear you were a snitch.

Is that true?

Honestly, it sounded
like a cough.

Like one of those like
hacking coughs that go...

Hello!

Yeah, I think it's down
these stairs.

I'm glad you paid attention.

Hello!

We're trying to get answers for
some of the folks who work here.

They feel as though there are
some unsettled spirits here.

All right! Ladies prison.

Where are we going
to go first?

I say we go right to where
the visual claims are.

To the women's ward.

- Did somebody just say, like...
- Did you, like...

Like...[growls] Yeah,
I just heard that.

You did hear that? Okay.

It wasn't just shuffling?

- No, it was like a...
- It was like...[growls]

- Like that type of...
- Definitely, because I heard it pretty clear, you heard it,

and you were in front of us,
so you didn't hear it.

We did hear you.

Sounded like you... you were
trying to say something.

- Were you recording audio already?
- Oh, yeah! This is...

We do real-time analysis.
So, it definitely got it.

Is there anybody in the
halls with us right now?

We think we heard you.

Almost like breathing, right?
Like three times?

If that's you in the other room,
could you do it again, please?

They say it's usually most
active when women are here.

How about if we back off
a little bit and let you stay?

- Just based on their ideas of it not liking guys around.
- Right.

So the guys are going
to back off.

Can you come closer now?

- What is that?
- I don't know. I can hear it, though.

Keeps going.

It seems like it's coming
from down there.

So, you should continue
on there.

- Yeah, let's do that.
- All right.

There's something out back
called Centennial Cells.

They just opened that up.

Did anything change in this
building when that happened?

What is your favorite thing
to purchase at the commissary?

We can get it for you.

- What's that?
- I heard that.

- I totally heard that, like a knock, like a...
- Yeah!

The commissary, right?
Like, we got your attention.

Maybe you want some cigarettes
or playing cards.

- What was that?
- What was that? That was right behind you.

What the...

Okay, so we brought up
the commissary.

You want some things
from the commissary, right?

Is it cigarettes?

Soap? Cards? Candy?

Again with the banging.

I think we need to figure out
what was, like, the hot commodity

that they wanted the most.

Let's bring it.

Hello!

We're not here to bother you.

Hello!

You should tell us
why you're in here.

- What was that?
- Jay, this way.

It sounded like deep metal,
kind of.

Walter Donnell, is it true
that you were a snitch?

Are you here?

Keep on getting a feeling like something's
going to jump out of a cell at me.

Well, Jay, by the sounds
of it, it might.

We are on the first floor of
the ladies wing of the prison.

All right, so claims are a lady in
the dark dress, on the third floor,

who has been terrorizing
guards.

If you're able to hear us, we're just here
to try to establish contact with you...

maybe hear your voice
or see your face.

I don't get it.
There's two handsome men here.

- Thank you, David.
- You're welcome.

I love that this is turned
into a paranormal dating game.

We heard that there's a lady who wears
a black dress, who's seen on the top floor.

- Want to go up?
- Yeah.

She's been seen, kind of,
just walking up and down, right?

Yeah!

How about if each one of us
take a cell,

like room-by-room,
ask a question, EVP session?

- Yeah. I'm down with that.
- Okay.

All right,
I'll pop in this one.

Oh, is there anybody in
the cells with us right now?

If any ladies want to see Dave
and Dustin closer,

can you whistle,
call them over?

- What is that, a whistle?
- Yeah, I heard a whistle.

Is this the lady
with the brown hair?

Is there anything
that you can do right now,

to let us know
that you're here?

- Shari, did you hear that?
- Yeah.

Keep going, Dave.

You can tell us anything
that you want.

All right, we thank you
for your time.

Jeez no pun intended.

Walter Donnell...

we're just looking to talk
with you.

We heard you were a snitch.

All right.

- Oh, was that you?
- No.

- You didn't just go, "Who"?
- No.

- That was not me.
- Was that a "hello"?

Hello!

Jay, that was a "hello" back.

- That wasn't. That was...
- No way!

That was a "hello" back.

Hello!

Hello.

- Jay, that was a "hello" back.
- That wasn't. That was...

- No way!
- That was a "hello" back.

Can you hear us?

Can you see us?

Can we talk?

[indistinct thud]

That...

pretty damn close, but it
sounded like it was down there.

It did sound like
it was down there.

Are you here with us?

Are you trying to get
our attention?

I don't... I mean, the responses
we got were direct responses

to when we were saying
something.

- Literally, direct responses.
- Yeah.

So, that makes me sit there

and think that it's some
intelligence, and it's like it hears us.

- Jay, my gosh!
- It's been crazy, honestly.

- Hey!
- Hey, guys!

We just had some amazing
activity. Honestly!

Voices, footsteps,
all kinds of stuff.

- Voice was a direct response.
- What?

- On your recorder?
- Yeah.

It was... it was loud. I mean,
loud enough that we all heard it.

- That's really cool.
- Yeah.

I don't know about you guys
but, I mean, tonight was great.

- We got a lot of stuff to go through.
- Yeah.

- I say we... we wrap it on a high note...
- Yeah!

- Yeah!
- ...and we can get back early tomorrow.

- You guys good with that?
- Yeah!

- Sounds good.
- All right. Well, let's do it, guys.

[Narrator] We still need to
get answers as to who or what?

Is targeting Les
and the security officers.

- Thank you, sir.
- After you, buddy.

[Narrator] So Tango and Dust are
headed to the Missouri state archives,

to research former inmates
in the women's ward,

to try to identify the femal
apparitions seen there.

Steve and I are meeting with
Mike Groose, a local historian

and former warden of Miss our
State Penitentiary.

- Hey, Mike!
- Hi!

- Jason! Nice to meet you!
- Steve!

- Sir, what a pleasure!
- You too.

We've asked Mike to give us some
insight on the Centennial Cells...

which were discovered during
excavations for a new prison yard.

It's possible unearthing the has
caused heightened activity here.

Oh, my gosh!

Were these more like solitary
type of cells or...

Most buildings of the day had
the bottom floor as a solitary area,

or a punishment area.

So I'm making an assumption
that things... these were that.

Well, you look at it.

These are half the size of
the cells that are in the prison.

You know, what strikes me is
the lack of light and ventilation, too.

Oh, my gosh! I can't imagine!

Would you happen to know names
of anybody

who would have been either
in any of these cells,

or even who would have worked
around these cells?

There's only one case
that we know of.

There was an inmate here
by the name of Anderson,

and there was also an officer here
by the name... last name of Woods.

And Anderson ended up
stabbing with a... with a shoe knife.

They called it "stabbing officer
Woods through the neck and killing him".

Oh, my God!

Eventually, the officer shot
and killed him.

- I see!
- So he would have been killed,

- probably, on this level right here.
- Wow!

Thank you so much for coming and hanging
out with us and telling us about this.

I mean, I think it's been
a lot of help,

- and we'll be able to use this information.
- No, great!

- Enjoyed having you, guys!
- Thank you so much!

It's the ledger
of all the different inmates.

Any names or any other
information we can get

to add to the investigation
of the ladies wing...

Like who was there
that was really bad,

like, you know,
like first degree murders.

- Things like that.
- Check out this one.

This is Minnie Ryan, age 44...

- and she committed murder in the first degree.
- Whoo!

But apparently, poured oil on
the gentleman and set him on fire.

- That's insane!
- Yeah!

She was brought in 1919

and then she dies
at the penitentiary in 1931.

She's one we should
definitely try to follow up on.

See if we can find out more
about her

and if nothing else,
use her name, you know.

Of course, we know that
Bonnie Heady was at the prison.

- Oh, yeah!
- So, we were able to get some files on her.

For Carl as well.

They were the ones that
kidnapped that young six-year-old boy

- and then murdered him.
- We don't know for sure

if she was actually
in the women's ward there,

but we know for sure that she
was gassed in the gas chamber.

[Narrator] Tonight, we will reach out
to Minnie Ryan in the woman's ward,

as well as Bonnie Heady,
who died in the gas chamber

to see if these names connec
to the spirits in the prison

- All right, guys, cameras are set.
- Awesome! Good!

- We have so much information to use tonight.
- Yeah.

- Yes.
- Well, I think tonight, Shari and Dustin,

why don't you guys head
into the Centennial Cells?

Steve and Tango,
hit the gas chamber.

Yeah, that sounds
like a great idea!

Adam and Amy, try some
trigger objects in Solitary.

- All right. Sounds good!
- Grab whatever equipment. Let's do this!

All right, gas chamber.

This is actually really sad.

You're right.
It... it is awful.

The emotions alone that
were happening in this box...

you would think that there'd
be something going on.

- You know what I mean?
- Yeah.

There's Bonnie.

She and Carl Hall,
they're the ones

that kidnapped and murdered
that little boy.

- So, they were side by side.
- They were side by side.

- A dual execution.
- Yep.

Bonnie!

Hear that?

Bonnie!

I heard that.

What did you hear?

It sounded to me...

it sounded like someone going,
"Hmm!"

How would you feel about going
in there and shutting the door?

It's not like we have
that many chances

to do something like this,
you know.

- Is that like a "When in Rome..." thing?
- Yeah.

This is Dustin and Shari, and we
are outside the Centennial Cells.

Be the first team to explore
these things, it's great.

My name is Shari
and this is Dustin.

Are you able to come forward
and say hello,

if this is, maybe, a place
that you were held before?

This is where it's believed an inmate
named Sonny Anderson killed a prison guard.

- Right.
- Sonny, are you around?

We know these cells
were just recently opened.

James, did you have any problems
with Sonny before he attacked you?

Are there any guards here?

If so, can you make a noise?

Adam and I discovered this
board that the tour guides use here,

that's basically filled with
actual shanks from inmates here.

So we're going to use this as a
trigger object during our investigation.

We also have the original keys
to the kingdom.

Okay, I'm going to put
this by the Rempod.

So whoever's in here, we know
that normally you'd get in trouble

for something like this,

but you're welcome
to take one, if you'd like.

You guys hear these?
These are the keys.

If you want them, speak up.

Come on. Keys are right here.

They're yours. Come get them.

[keys jingling]

- There. Footsteps.
- I heard the footsteps.

Let's go up to that level.

All right, we're gonna
come to you. We hear you.

Jay and Dustin. Ladies ward.

Are any of the ladies on the
upper floors around? Can say hello?

Or the woman
in the black dress.

Does anybody know Minnie?

Or is Minnie here?

Keep on getting
something moving.

Right there.

- Noise?
- Yeah!

Minnie, are you here?

Can you make a knocking sound
like this?

Maybe rattle one
of your doors?

- [indistinct rattle on door]
- Oh! Oh!

That sounded like a cell door.

Sounds like it's, like,
right above us too.

- Oh, yeah!
- Here we go!

Who wants the keys?

[keys jingling]

We got these keys. They're
the originals. They're yours.

We brought... Oh wait!

Shoot! Down there!

Okay, I definitely just saw
a shadow outside that door.

Okay, I definitely just saw
a shadow outside that door.

It was right over there.

Like down, like a shadow go
across the floor.

It was on the floor.

We got these keys. They're
the originals. They're yours.

Where are you?
Do you want to come out?

Okay, you tell us where
you are, we'll come to you.

If you're stuck in one of
the cells, we can let you out.

We know some of you could probably
still be here, who were innocent.

You're put here wrongly,
right, you know? You didn't do it.

Can you come forward
and tell us your story?

Do you want to talk about it.

Hello!

Could you let us know
that you're here?

Let's head upstairs.

People have seen shadow figures
or female apparitions in this area.

Yeah.

Minnie, are you up here?

- Minnie set a man of fire, right?
- Yeah.

Minnie Ryan, are you here?

[door thuds]

Oh, I heard a door.

It really sounded like a door.

And it gets to that.

- Like that.
- Yeah, that last part.

Can you poke your head out so we
can see? Maybe see where you are?

Nothing seemed like it was
acknowledging that we were here.

- Yeah.
- And you got to wonder if that's a residual soul.

Right. It's just doing
its own stuff.

I say we go in there.

What was the mirror for?

I don't know.

- Does that spin?
- It looks like it.

Did you hear that?

Sounded like...

There's at least 40 people
that the last thing

they ever, like remember,
is this.

Is there anybody still
in here?

- Remember, they would knock on the glass...
- Yeah.

...letting them know, like,
here comes the gas.

I think that we should recreate
the condition as best as we can.

So, I would go out there
and knock.

[knocking]

Oh, my God!
That sounds terrifying!

[knocking]

Oh, my God!

This is just like
a horror movie.

Hello!

Bonnie!

Carl!

Are you here?

3704.

Bonnie, did you commit the
murder to show your love for Carl?

- [loud knocking]
- Oh!

You okay?

It's so loud in here, I don't
even know what's happening.

- Dave, that was scary.
- I could tell. I could tell.

I did hear breathing.

- Like a... like a shallow breath?
- Yeah. Wasn't me.

Wow!

We're going to walk over
to the... side,

where people were able to
watch you take your final breaths.

- Did we hear that?
- Same thing.

- Did you hear that?
- Same thing.

[hums]

If there's anything that you
were wanting to tell anybody...

now's your chance.

Maybe there's a message you
would like to pass along to somebody.

- I just want to go and listen down...
- Yeah.

It's been a great investigation.
Let's wrap and head back.

Copy that.

So, we just wrapped
the investigation

and Missouri State Pen is more
active than it was 10, 11 years ago.

Maybe it's just that we've got
better equipment,

maybe it's these Centennial
Cells that they just found.

Who knows! But we were able to
document a lot more activity now

than we were

With everything
that has happened here,

it's pretty evident
that Les is not crazy.

What he's experiencing,
what his staff is experiencing,

is legitimately happening
here.

What we have to do now is
figure out how do we tell him

how haunted
this place really is,

and still make his staff
feel comfortable working here.

- It was a good night?
- Yeah!

- Fantastic!
- I mean, the whole week has been awesome.

- It has.
- My gosh! We got the band back together.

- Look at this!
- That's what it felt like, too.

- Awesome!
- Well, thanks for having us.

- Man, it's always great to see you, guys.
- All the hard work.

- It's always good to see you.
- I know!

- Crying baby!
- I'm going to cry right now.

Enjoy your thing!

All right, here we are.

- Let's do this!
- Yeah.

Time to show him the evidence.

Thanks for allowing us to,
pretty much,

take total control
of Missouri State Pen.

Awesome!

You have had all different
types of activity going on,

whether it be
the full-body apparitions,

female apparitions, voices,
people being touched.

In fact, one of our investigators
witnessed shadow figures

seen down near Death Row.

And your concern was for you
and the other employees here,

as well as the visitors
come through here.

So, we do have some sounds
we'd like you to take a listen to,

tell us what you think,
and we'll go from there.

- Okay?
- All right.

So, this first clip we're going to
show is from the woman's ward,

and there's a weird male voice
that kicks in.

Get out!

Hear that?
Did that say, "Get out"?

- Yeah. That's exactly what it said.
- Wow!

Wow! Yeah!

And I know a lot of people take it
as a threatening thing, like, "Get out!"

But you got to remember, now
you have two guys and a lady

who are walking through
the ladies ward,

who probably shouldn't be
there in the first place.

So could it be a some guard who's
still there, saying, you know, "Get out.

You're not supposed to
be here"? It's very possible.

Tango and I, we were investigating
down in the gas chamber,

and we caught some things
that did take us by surprise,

and that sort of happened when
we were talking about Bonnie,

who was somebody
who was put to death there.

- Does that spin?
- It looks like it.

So, we'll just loop
that area for you.

It looks like... it looks
like... it looks like it.

- I mean, it's definitely a female. You can tell.
- Right. Right.

Whether it's moaning
or gasping...

That's what it kind
of sounded, like a gasp.

- Does that spin?
- It looks like it.

Steve and I,
we're in this building,

and we're pretty much right
on this floor over there.

All of a sudden, it sounded like
somebody spoke directly to us.

As if somebody
was in one of the cells.

It's a really interesting
piece of audio.

Take a listen.

- Was that you?
- No.

Hello!

Yeah!

Almost sounds like a "Wow",
and then "Hello".

Wow!

Was that you?

- No.
- Hello!

So, direct responses like that would give
the belief of an intelligent-type haunt.

Something like you and I,
after we pass,

- and we're trying to communicate...
- Right.

...and that's where that came
from.

Bottom line is we were able to
document a lot of these things

that you've experienced
and others have experienced.

When you guys came, you know,
I asked,

"Is it safe for law enforcement/security
officers to be here to work?"

I don't think, really, anybody
has to worry about safety.

We didn't deal with anything
that we felt was...

was threatening, or that was
going to cause anybody harm.

We did look
into the Centennial Cells.

We didn't get any activity
over near the cells.

So, it might just be that anything
that was there just decided to move on.

But there definitely seems to be
activity going on throughout this complex.

Just remember that if
something happens here,

or the activity's picking up even
more, we're only a phone call away.

- I appreciate that.
- Well, I appreciate it, man.

- It was... it was great working with you.
- Yeah.

Jay and Steve showed me proof
that there was actual events happening.

For people that are working
here as guides and security,

I don't think that they have
anything to fear.

And so, that makes me feel
more at ease.

I think that went great.

The whole investigation
was awesome.

He was concerned
about everybody's safety here,

especially the safety
of the guards.

I think that was one
of his biggest fears,

- and now, he doesn't have to worry about that anymore.
- Yeah.

- So, you ready for Joliet Prison?
- I am, man.

- I'm excited, brother.
- Me, too!

- Onto the next man.
- Yeah, on to the next prison.
