Ghost Adventures: Aftershocks (2014–…): Season 2, Episode 6 - Bonnie Springs Ranch and Vulture Mine - full transcript

Zak Bagans reopens investigations of Bonnie Springs Ranch and Vulture Mine. Zak watches an intense home video of a tour guide at Bonnie Springs become possessed, and he receives sad news about the Vulture Mine's fate.

MAN: Glenn, help me!
It won't let me!

ZAK: The last several years,

we have explored many locations.

We have met
hundreds of people...

MAN: The work you do
is so valuable.

...many who have been deeply
affected by our investigations.

It was not him.

The way his eyes glared, I had
never seen anything like that.

It is a bit disturbing.

You tell it to leave right now.
Tell it hard.

Leave now!

ZAK: Are these dark spirits
still plaguing these places...

No!

...and harming
these people?

I haven't told anybody.

I think a few of them guys
came with me.

The spirits
from Vulture Mine.

It's time to find out.

This is "Ghost Adventures:
Aftershocks."

Bonnie Springs Ranch,
in Blue Diamond, Nevada,

has a horrific history

as a throughway
for the Spanish Trail.

Trekking
on the old Spanish Trail

could be extremely dangerous.

You had Mexico threatening you
from the south.

You could die
from outside elements.

You could be attacked
by bandits.

[ Gunshots, horse neighs ]

Joe Tasso,
supervisor at the ranch,

aided in our investigation back
in 2011.

And his presence was
a paranormal trigger

in the most haunted area
of the ranch, the opera house.

Right now, Joe has brought us to
this opera house

here in the little village.

And this is where
apparently a darker spirit

is said to reside.

Since then, an extremely
disturbing and dangerous event

took place
inside the opera house.

It was all captured on video.

We talked to Joe, who was
an eyewitness to this event.

But first, about how he got
his infamous nickname.

One thing that "Ghost
Adventures" has the power to do

is to immortalize certain people
with nicknames.

Now, everybody watching this
right now, this is Angry Joe.

And "Ghost Adventures" gave
Angry Joe his name from this.

Let's talk about why he's
so angry and mad.

And why people say
that you are evil.

Are you angry?
I am asking if you're angry.

And if you are angry --

I want to know
why you're angry.

The first time I'm, you know,

trying to find out
why you're angry

so you don't have to be
this angry.

Everybody tells me you're angry
and -- and -- and mad.

It's like it's --

I just want to know
why you're angry.

We all want to know
why you're angry.

Did something bad
happen to you?

ZAK:
We can all feel your energy.

Are you evil or angry?

There it is.

[ Laughter ]

And ladies and gentlemen,
I give you Angry Joe.

How you doing, Zak?

ZAK: Good, man.
Good to see you.
All right.

Since we've seen you,
how have you been?

Real good.

I've been having a lot
of investigations,

especially after the show.

You know, we had a lot of people
pop up.

Right. I'm glad it brought that
there, you know.

And we've gotten
a lot more activity.

Was it more negative, Joe?

I'm not going to say negative.

What I'm going to say is, um,
more touchings.

I've got people saying, like,
they felt cobwebs,

like when they were going
through the wax museum

and in the opera house, um, like
we experienced.

So do you believe that those
spiritual doorways

are more open than they were
than when we were there?

I actually believe that.

I think ever since the show
aired -- and I know you were

joking about it before, with
the Angry Joe and all that,

you know, people come to see
that -- I think

a lot more activities
happen there.

I think it -- like you said, it
opens doors.

If there was a place where there
was negativity, evil,

or possibly something darker,

you made it known that it was
at the opera house.

Opera house.

Now, let's watch a clip when you
first told us

about the negativity associated
with the opera house.

So this is the place?

And this is the opera house.

Have you ever felt uncomfortable
in there?

Oh, yeah.

You have?
Yeah. Mm-hmm.

I have seen like a cloud type
deal against the wall.

There was four of us in there,
and there

was five shadows on the wall.

Paranormal investigators
came in.

They were taking pictures while
we were talking right here.

And, in one of the pictures,
there is a black cloud

around me, going towards him.

We have people from all over
the United States

that come visit us,

and I don't tell them

there's anything here,
they tell me.

How everybody explains it, I had
one person tell me it was evil,

but the rest of them tell me
it's an angry feeling.

It's like somebody's very mad.

This angry spirit, do you think
that it's attached to you,

and whenever you talk to it
or make it angrier, that it can

attach itself to other people
in your group?

It has actually said,
"Angry Joe, leave."

It has?

Yes, it has
on many occasions.

It has actually told me
to leave.

One day when I was
in the opera house,

there was a couple of other
people with me,

and I actually heard the word
"leave."

Audibly with your ears?

Audibly with my ears.

And they did too.

And I thought at first I was
a little nuts.

The increased activity
at the ranch

was building like a paranormal
tidal wave,

which hit its peak with one
extremely alarming event.

Joe tells us
about this event

that pushed his friend Brian
to the edge of darkness.

Joe, there was something that
did happen since we left that,

uh, was a little more
disturbing,

that you bore witness to,

and, uh, this something we have
some video of it.

Yes.

Now, since we've been there and
since we've seen you last,

did somebody suffer a possession
from the opera house?

Uh, yes.

We've had a couple of people say
they have felt that they were

possessed or something overcame
them in the opera house,

which I've heard many,
many times.

But, um, actually, yes, Brian --
I'm going to say his name.

Now, since we've been there and
since we've seen you last,

did somebody suffer a possession
from the opera house?

Uh, yes.

We've had a couple of people say
they have felt that they were

possessed or something overcame
them in the opera house,

which I've heard many,
many times.

But, um, actually, yes, Brian --
I'm going to say his name --

Brian actually was
in the opera house,

and we were doing
an investigation,

and he said he felt a pain
in his side.

ZAK: Brian Purdy is a tour guide
at Bonnie Springs Ranch

and the victim of a traumatizing
spiritual possession.

He is revealing to us now
the shocking events

that led up to this occurrence.

Do you have recollection
of this possession?

The last thing I remember, it
was -- it was --

the sun was just going down.

It was still light out.

And all of a sudden, I'm kind of
like, it's dark.

It's pitch black out there.

So I'm not sure what happened.

In my mind, what -- how the
series of the events unfolded

was I was getting this really
sharp stab in my back.

It was a stabbing pain and --

In the opera house?
In the opera house.

And -- and it was so severe
that, you know,

I actually got up and I told my
son, David, I said -- he's like,

"Are you okay?"

And I said, I get this really
stabbing pain in my back.

And I've never felt that before,
but it

was like something was
penetrating my spine.

And that is pretty much all
I remember.

Mm-hmm.

David is Brian's son
and a firsthand eyewitness

to his father's alarming
possession.

He was able to capture the whole
terrifying event on camera.

I want you to tell me
when you were there

witnessing this
with your father.

Just kind of tell me a little
bit, like, what happened.

I mean, it all started
in the opera house.

I noticed he was acting a little
bit different.

He came to me
in the middle of it.

He said that he had a pain
in his back.

Right, and this is just before
he started visually looking

just kind of, like, not him.

Yeah. Yeah.

And like a little bit delusional
in a way.

I mean, it was just
kind of weird.

So the sharp pain
set it off.

Yeah.

And then I told him, like, well,
okay, maybe you should probably,

like, get out of here,
you know, just in case.

We don't want anything bad
to happen.

And at that time, I think
a little bit later,

we heard a voice.

It was through the SB7,
or a ghost box,

and you hear a little girl that
says, "Who's there?"

At that point, you hear
a reply, and it's

mimicking my dad's voice.

So the voice came through
after he had the pain.

Yes.

It sounded like your dad's voice
came through the ghost box.
Yes.

Okay, do you do know what
the voice was saying?

It said "Purdy,"
which is our last name.

DAVID: Everyone, quiet.

And at that point,
I kind of, like,

I couldn't believe that,
what I just heard.

Wow.

20 minutes pass, you know.

And at the point, I'm thinking,
like, okay,

well, that's not good.

You know, where is he?

Why isn't he back?

So I said, okay, I'm going to
take a break.

I'll be back while they continue
the investigation.

I went over there
to the saloon,

which is right across
from the opera house.

And when I walked in,
I pretty much

just found him there
just sitting by himself

and just kind of, like, staring
off into the distance.

And that's when I asked him,
"Are you okay?"

It wasn't him.
I'll tell you that.

It was not him.

And that's when a teammate
came in.

I said, go get everyone
immediately.

This is an emergency.

And that's when they came
and they immediately

thought that he was having
a stroke.

[ Indistinct conversation ]

TASSO: And when I got outside,
Brian was sitting on the benches

and he was just --
it wasn't him.

What's your name?

What?

Give me a name.
What's your name?

Brian.

Brian what?
Purdy.

What's my name?
Joe.

I know him
for three years.

And it wasn't him,
the way he was talking,
the way he was acting.

Were you scared?

At first, I was concerned.

Did you think it was
something medical,

or did you know that it was
a possession?

At first, I thought it was
medical.

What did you think was
happening?

I wasn't sure.
I was worried about his heart.

DAVID:
They checked him, basically,

just because they thought
he was stroking.

You know, so I mean, it -- it
was wild and --

Scary.
Yeah.

Because you don't know
what was going on.
Yeah.

Did you ever find out, too,
just for your own senses

if something medical was going
on with you,

just to rule that out

and to rule that this was
a legitimate possession?

It's interesting
because my background

is in neural interventional
radiology.

Oh, really?
Yeah.

So I'm very familiar with
the signs of stroke

and other ailments of the body.

We have a team EMT.
We have a team R.N.
Wow.

And those are some of the people
that you see in the video.

Okay, okay.

So they were very attentive
to what was going on.

Yeah, we could tell.

And they were doing
neural checks,

making sure I'm not stroking,
because honestly

that's what it looks like.

It looks like I'm -- I'm
stroking.

I'm totally -- it's odd for me
to watch that video

and see me doing things, but I
have no memory of it.

You know, I remember very
clearly at the beginning

and I remember coming out at the
end, but that's it.

Everything in between was like,
until I saw the video,

it was all new to me.

We're going to watch a clip
from this event,

which is a -- it is
a bit disturbing.

ZAK: Right now, we are talking
with Brian Purdy

and are about to witness

his disturbing and terrifying
possession.

We're going to watch a clip
from this event,

which is a -- it is
a bit disturbing.

Let's watch this video.

You feel that? You feel that?
Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm.

This is your wife?
BRIAN: Yes.

You feel that?

Mm-hmm.

Look at me.

That's Saint Christopher.

Feel that.
That. That saint.

You don't have your
Saint Michael's on, okay?

This is Saint Christopher.

Look at me.

What do you think
caused this?

I didn't wear the medal
that I always wear.

And I wear this medal ever
since, uh, Washoe Club

because we had
a similar incident.

And, uh, I've worn it
ever since.

Well, that night when I took
a shower, I took it off.

And rushing to get out
to this investigation,

I didn't put it back on.

So I feel like not only was I
fatigued and unable

to fend this off, but --

You weren't protected.

I wasn't protected at all.

DAVID: Whatever has entered
my dad, I want you to leave.

I give you no permission
to be in here.

WOMAN: "I give you
no permission."

Say it.

I give you
no permission.

No. Say it.

I give you
no permission.

"To be in my body."

To be in my body.

We -- we've analyzed this time
and time again,

especially because when I watch
this video and I see my wife

as concerned and scared
as she was --

If anybody knows you are not
being you,

it's going to be your wife.
Right.

And I'm -- I'm -- I'm seeing
the fear in her eyes,

and that scares the daylights
out of me.

I give you
no permission.

No. Say it.

I give you
no permission.

Say it.

I give you
no permission.

Look at me.
Say it.

I'm looking at you.
No, you're not.

I want Brian
to look at me.

I want my husband
to look at me.

"I give you -- I give you
no permission."

For what?

Say it.

What are you telling me?

It still gives me chills.

Did he ever
just snap out of it?

It was when --
with my mom and Joe.

That's kind of when
it started.

And you can see that he was
registering people.

TASSO: And they were trying
to get him to, uh,

snap out of it or whatever.

Then I started talking to him,

and the way he was talking
to me, it made no sense.

It was not him.

And the way his eyes glared,

I had never seen
anything like that.

It was really strange to me
with his eyes.

TASSO: What's ever in you
right now as you grab my hand,

grab my cross --

That's right.

Brian, you're reaching out.

I know you are.

Now, what's ever in you,
this is Joe.

Leave.

You know I'm the protector of
this property.

I want you to leave right now.

Brian, stand.

Stand.

Look at me.

You grab me.

You tell it to leave
right now.

He reached up and grabbed
my cross.

He did?
Yeah.

And you hear me in there saying,
"He's got me."

Leave.
Push it out, Brian.

Push it through.

Boy, you've got me good.

Push it through.

Because he had my cross
in my skin.

Oh, that's what you
meant by --

Yeah. He's got me.

You saying that, he grabbed
your cross tight.

Yeah, he's got me.

Once that happened, I felt

an unbelievable strength
come over me.

When he grabbed your cross?

Right.

I felt
an unbelievable strength

where I had to get
angry and mean.

Close your eyes right now.

Leave!

Keep it going.

MAN: Tell it to leave.

Do you feel that the spirit
jumped into you?

No.

I -- I -- I can't say that.

I felt that the spirit
was in him,

but something was with me to
tell me to tell him what to do.

Keep it going.

MAN:
Tell it to leave.

Tell it to leave, Brian.

It's taking you out.
I see it.

Take it -- tell it to leave.

Almost like a spirit guide
or God

or some power was with you
to help you in that moment.

Leave now!

Leave Brian and go back to
the opera house now.

Your court sentence is up.
Go!

You're okay. You're okay.
You're okay.

You're okay, Brian.

I got you.

How was he
after the video stopped?

Did he come back?

He came back.
It was slow.

He came back.
He was doing a lot better.

I remember Joe coming up
and telling me something.

And then he said for it
to leave me alone.

And then the pain went away.

And then I remember getting
really,

really, really hot and then just
kind of dizzy.

One of the words that I said
in there,

"Your court sentence
is up.

Your court sentence is up.
Go!

Did you mean to say that,
or did that just come out?

That came out.

You didn't think
to say that?

That came out.

"Your court sentence
is up."

Right.

What do you think made you
say that, Joe?

Was there a saint in you?

Was there -- was there
a rescuer from God?

Are you very religious?

I know you have a spiritual
connection to the place,

but do you think something from
Bonnie Springs was in you?

Yes, I do.

I know you have a spiritual
connection to the place,

but do you think something from
Bonnie Springs was in you?

Yes, I do.

At that last moment just before
he hugged me,

I felt this pounce on my chest,
like somebody hit me.

And then why I came out
with that,

"I'm the protector of this
place," really got to me.

But after that, I really --
there was times I felt that way.

Like, I -- it sounds crazy,
but I feel at home there.

Something drew you
to the place.

Right.
Something drew me to the place.

I've seen it so many different
stories and locations

that we've investigated.

Right. And then a really weird
thing happened.

I went home that night.

I was going to take a shower.

I always take my cross off
when I take a shower.

My cross, it was brown.

Your cross was --

It was a silver cross,
and it was brown.

You were able
to peel it off --

The brown?

The brown,
and I thought that was

the weirdest thing
in the world.

Do you think it turned brown
after he grabbed it?

It wasn't brown before.
I know -- I know that much.

What do you think the brown
substance was?

Not dirt, not anything like
that, obviously.

No, it wasn't dirt, because it
was, like, crispy.

It was like I had to peel it off
to get the brown off.

Do you think the cross
was burned?

It seemed like that, but it was
a brown color.

It was weird.

This was a powerful event
to hear, that you had

this type of experiences
while he

was going through this
possession.

Yes.

You're right.

You do have a very strong
connection to that place.

What spirit do you believe was
in his body?

Do you think this had anything
to do with the opera house?

What's going on, Joe?

My feeling that I had,
it was very powerful.

I felt like it was the spirit,
like we were talking about

in the opera house.

I felt it was
the angry spirit.

So this is where you were
standing...

Yeah, we were standing
right here.

...when you captured
this black mist.

Matter of fact, a lot of people
say in this area right here

is where there's
the most activity.

Where do you think this spirit
came from?

Do you think it is the evil,
negative spirit

that Joe claims
is in the opera house,

because you were in the opera
house when this happened?

Yes.
I honestly don't know.

Well, I've seen how you are.

You're just kind of catatonic.

You're just, like, you know,

you're, like, almost under,
like, drugs.

Like those first moments
of anesthesia.

You're looking at people.
Your eyes are huge.

After this happened, was there
any aftershocks?

Were there any more signs from
this spirit that possessed you?

Or do you feel that it left you
when you unknowingly grabbed

Joe's cross and apparently
turned it brown?

I did feel like when we left
there, whatever it was

was no longer a part of me
or my family life.

I did have
a kind of weird energy.

It was just like, wow,
everything is so pretty,

and that's what I remember.

You know, everything I've ever
read about or seen,

people are drained.

They're -- they're exhausted
after their experience.

Well, I didn't feel that.

I felt elated.

I felt on a high.

I was thinking about how these
possessions occur.

When the spirit is possessing
you, channeling through you,

what does it do to all the
little organs and all

the little electrical impulses
in your brain and your nerves?

You know, does it -- hey, it may
benefit it.

What if everybody's, you know,
vision and stereotype

on possessions is,
"Oh, it's horrible, it's bad."

And, you know, yeah, it is while
it happens -- you look scary.

But what -- what about if -- if
when it leaves your body?

It's interesting
that you bring that up.

And I like to bring up the fact
that Einstein proved

that energy
cannot be destroyed.

Right.

So when our body dies and we go
into the ground,

what happens to that energy
that we possess?

We all talk about how we're
somehow connected.

Maybe that's how we're
connected.

Maybe -- maybe it's the spirit
energy when a person dies

and their energy leaves their
body, it's not destroyed --

It actually becomes
part of us.

ZAK: Now we check in with
another Wild West staple --

Vulture Mine,
located in Wickenburg, Arizona,

and former caretaker
Marty Hagan.

This was one of our most
dangerous investigations.

Are you serious?

[ Siren wails ]

[Bleep]

This is Mother Nature
telling us to go home --

"You're not doing a lockdown
here. [Bleep] that."

Once an active town,
its epicenter

was a profitable gold mine

during the height
of the Gold Rush.

It was then a bustling business,
but it came at a price.

So as they got more of the gold
off the columns,

they couldn't hold the mine,
so it...

Their bodies were
never discovered.
No.

The last time we've been
to this ghost town

was in 2010
during our investigation.

We connect with Marty again
to hear about

his current situation.

Since we've last seen you,

what has been happening
with you?

Are you still
at the Vulture Mine?

No. The mine was sold
in, um, 2011.

And since then,
the owner has

chosen to close it down,

as far as investigations.

How do you feel about that,

someone that had such
a strong emotional,

spiritual connection?

Is there a sadness?

Yes, yes.

I really enjoyed
being at the mine.

There is a connection there.

One of the things that I noticed
right off the bat

is that you were
very spiritually connected

to the Vulture Mine.

And I remember you told us about
this -- this voice

that you heard
with your own ears.

You're right.

And this voice gave you
a powerful message

that ended our interview
in a very emotional state.

Let's watch this moment.

If you could see
way out in the distance

that metal building --
what is that called?

That's
the generator building.

Generator building.

Now, you had an experience
over there.

And I was looking back towards
the main engine.

There was a voice behind me.

"I'm not free.

I'm not free."

I'm chilled now.

It's all right.
It's all right.

Whew.
It's okay.

It's...

[ Clears throat ]

It gets to you, doesn't it, when
you experience that stuff?

Does it just -- you hear
that voice again

and it gets to you
emotionally?

Yeah.

Why does it get to you
emotionally?

I don't know.

Do you -- do you think
it's just someone
that needed help

that was trying to ask
for your help?

Well, it's like their spirit
or their whatever --

it hasn't left.

[ Sighs ]

You all right?
Oh, yeah.

It still comes back.

It's like, uh...

someone that, uh...

needs to be reconnected,

but they -- they just haven't
let go,

and they're --
they're asking.

Just, "I'm not free.

I'm not free to go
where I need to go."

So it's kind of a sincere
emotional feeling you get.

Roma, Marty's wife, and Marge,
his mother-in-law,

lived at Vulture Mine
for decades.

We meet a lot
of different people

that have emotional connections
to spirits.

We never know where we're going
to find them

or who we're going to meet.

And we meet your son-in-law,
your husband.

And Marty had a very powerful
connection to the Vulture Mine.

ROMA:
He really loved it out there.

He was sick
when we went out there.

He had cancer.

So it was really special for him
to be out there,

and it helped him to heal.

I feel something.

ZAK: You do?

There's, uh -- it's like they're
watching us.

Marjorie, did you used to live
in that house up on top?

On the hill.

You did?
Yes.

You lived there for, what,
40 years?

My husband and I did too.

How do you feel now,
not being there?

I'll tell you something
that I haven't told anybody.

Mm-hmm.

I think a few of them guys
came with me.

ZAK: We're talking to former
residents of the Vulture Mine

Marge and Roma, who are
about to reveal

shocking new information
about their time

since living on the property.

You lived there for, what,
40 years?

My husband and I did too.

How do you feel now,
not being there?

I'll tell you something

that I haven't told anybody.

Mm-hmm.

I think a few of them guys
came with me.

ZAK: The spirits
from Vulture Mine?

Every once in a while, I see
something and I look.

Nobody's there.

I hear noises.

I see little waves.

See, I don't want to be sent to
the loony bin.

I haven't told anybody.

Marjorie, if you want to hear
my experiences,

I'll go to the loony bin before
you, okay?

You want to hear this guy and
our experiences?

I've seen
the little waves too.

Have you?
Oh, yeah.

Oh, good.
I'm not by myself.

Does it kind of look like
when you look

at a swimming pool
in the summer?

The sun goes through it
and you see

those little, like, waves
dancing around?

Yeah.

Yeah.
I've seen that too.

And when I was at the mine,

we'd be sitting on the porch,
my husband and I,

I'd looked,

and I'd seen this --
this guy.

I'd see him walking.

In that house?

Out on the porch
of that house.

Yeah. Yeah.

I remember lots
of activity.

And my husband and I,
when we first moved up there,

I heard knocking every night.

And we heard footsteps.

Didn't you tell me that your --
your husband saw a man --

By the fireplace.

By the fireplace.
That's right.

My husband was sleeping,
and he looked out there,

and he'd seen a man standing
in front of the fireplace.

One time, my husband and his
brother went to get a car.

And I went over
to visit his sister,

my sister-in-law,

and his brother lived at the
mine with us in a trailer.

And I went down to the trailer

to see her
while they were gone.

And when my husband came home

and was driving up
the driveway...

You've got to go up
a big driveway to the house.

...he looked and he'd seen --
he thought

he'd seen me at the door.

And we were told by a psychic
that it was a woman

that lived there that looked
just like me.

Really?

This woman spirit
at your house.

Yeah.

When we were there, we got
this EVP of what we believe

was a woman spirit.

And then we also caught a piece
of visual evidence

after this EVP,
so watch this.

ZAK: We've begun our lockdown
at the old caretaker's house

where a woman's voice
just called out to us.

I was looking
behind this door.

NICK: Yeah.

It looked like there was
a [bleep] in this.

Are you serious?

AARON: Whoa. Dude.

You guys?

And so what was interesting,
though, is

we got an EVP
of this woman,

then I could see a woman
back there.

You know,
I could see a woman.

I don't know if it was --
if it was in a psychic sense,

but I could see a woman there,
and at that point,

I did not know that we captured
that EVP

because we hadn't
reviewed it yet.

And to add to that chain
of events, this anomaly

comes from right the area
of the door

where I saw this woman at.

And Marjorie, you're telling me
that there are lots

of different experiences
and events of the spirit

of a woman
in your old house here.

Mm-hmm.

Do you believe
that we maybe came

into contact with her here?

Yes.

I wish she would have cleaned it
up while she was there.

It was a little messy.
Yeah.

Marjorie, do you --

I love Marjorie.

Marjorie, if you want
to go out later tonight,

because you and I are going to
go have some fun, okay?

Okay, good, good, good.
Do you dance?

I don't, but you know what?
I'll dance with you.

Okay, good.

But I do dance.
Aaron has seen it.

It's terrible.

Why are you always --
like, say one nice thing.

Can't I be honest?

ZAK: Dee Roberts is
a paranormal investigator

and a friend of Marty's
for over 10 years.

She's seen the compelling bond
that Marty has

with the miners
trapped there.

We speak to her now about his
spiritual connection.

Marty was
very emotionally connected.

Very.

And you could see the sadness
of what it's like for them.

Do you think it's sad?

Yeah.

What's wrong?

It's --

That place means
so much to me.

And it's so sad that I can't go
there anymore.

And it's just sad to know
I don't know

if I'm never going to have
that again.

And I want -- and to see Marty
like he is,

and knowing his history,

and am I pissed off about it?
Sorry, but...

...extremely. Extremely.

I mean, it -- I don't see
the reason behind it.

I truly don't see the reason
behind it.

Mm-hmm.

Even if they want to mine it,
why can't we still go in?

Right.

I understand the liabilities
and this and that.

It's sad to have
your home ripped out.

It feels like it's
all of our homes.

It's like taking a child
away from a mother.
Yeah.

It was ripped out from us.

ZAK: We've seen that the
shutting down of Vulture Mine

has not only displaced people
physically,

but spiritually as well.

We talk to Marty,
the former caretaker, now

about the deep emotional cracks

that being separated
from the spirits there

has left on his life.

Do you miss being there
for these spirits?

Oh, yeah.

It felt like home, you know,

just being
on the mine property.

And I never once
felt threatened

at all on that property.

Some people say, "Ooh,
ghosts are out here.

You need to be afraid."

No.

You were deeper connected
to the spirits in a way
of helping them?

Right, right. They're friendly.
They're friendly.

And they never attacked you
in a negative way or anything?

No. No. Unh-unh.

Yeah, I'd like to see them
open it up

for more tours
and more -- more activity

as far as investigations

because I feel that there is --
there's warrant,

that things happen and it needs
to be people

that are in tune with that
to bring them out.

Mm-hmm.

And do you feel now that those
spirits that are there

while this new mining company is
there owning it

and is not doing like what you
did for these spirits,

do you think that these spirits
are now even more lost?

I think
they're in suspension.

You know, no one is paying
attention to them.

They don't have any connection,
but I think if -- over time, I

think the connection will come,
and then they'll

see the -- the urgency to get
this open again.

I mean, part of my heritage
is gone.

What do you mean by that?

I'm born and raised
in Phoenix.

Born and raised in Arizona.

And all
of our historical sites,

they're leaving us.

And Arizona don't --
we don't have -- you know,

we either turn them
into a tourist trap

or we knock them down.

And you said it best.

Vulture Mine was
a true ghost town.

And the history there is
just unbelievable,

and to have it ripped out from
underneath us -- in fact,

I had an investigation to go to
when I got the phone call

from Roma saying
I have to cancel it.

It's gone.
It's over with.

And after 10 years and a lot
of research on that place,

it's like, it's gone.

It doesn't feel good.
No.

It doesn't feel good
at all.

I -- I know what you're talking
about here.

We blow up the history
and implode it.

A place that means so much
to you, a place

that any family or anybody
that goes there

can spend a whole day just
absorbing all the history.

Paranormal investigating is
also another way

to keep embracing
the history...

It is.

...and to keep telling
the stories of the past.

It is. It truly is.

Do you miss it there?

I miss -- well, like I said,
I think they came with me,

some of the ghosts,
but I miss the people.

Roma, do you miss the mine?

I miss the mine. Yeah, we had
a lot of good times out there.

I didn't know that your family
had such a long time

with so many memories there
at Vulture Mine.

I can't tell you how many
friends we had met

over the years,
and we're still friends --

I am still friends

with a few of the people
that I met there.

A big purpose for this interview
and bringing you

and the others back
from Vulture Mine

is to raise awareness
by seeing

the personal connections
and emotions

that you had to this place
and how much it meant to you,

by being on this show
and talking about it

and showing the moments
that you had,

that these spirits are there,

and they made an impact
on people like you

and, uh, the history of that
mine, a lot of people

would like to go there.

Right.

Well, if there's any closure
to this story,

it would be a positive follow-up
to know that you, Marty,

his family, can get back
to the connection,

the deeper connection that you
all have with this place

that is not just
some old buildings and ruins.

It is more than that.

It's the spirits there that had
this connection with you.

It's the energy of the place.
It's the memories.

And we are going to do
a follow-up on this.

We reached out to the owners
of the Vulture Mine,

and they had this to say.

ZAK: We've seen that locations
can go through transitions.

Some become
more spiritually active...

I'm seeing
the fear in her eyes,

and that scares the daylights
out of me.

I want Brian
to look at me.

I want my husband
to look at me.

...and some
spiritually shut down.

MARTY: But they just haven't
let go,

and they're --
they're asking.

Just, "I'm not free.

I'm not free to go
where I need to go."

So it's kind of a sincere
emotional feeling you get.

Regardless of the changes,

we'll be here to document them
for better or for worse

to continue these locations'
paranormal legacy.

Someone needs to stop Clearway Law.
Public shouldn't leave reviews for lawyers.
