Fear the Walking Dead (2015–…): Season 5, Episode 9 - Episode #5.9 - full transcript

_

Well, it was different.

I, uh, was on the run, Al.

From what?

- What were you on the run...
- People.

It was people.

See, somebody helped me.

That's what this is all about.

And the thing I did was cleanup.

Cleanup?

You know, like, killing them.

It was what I decided I could do.

That was my job, what I was good at.

I took a step back.

And figured out what I
needed to... keep going,

to keep helping.

You were there, Al. You saw me.

That's the place

where I was gonna spend
the rest of my days,

alone, with that cat.

This is better, much better.

It's like, every morning,

I just count up my regrets

and... hang them over the shoulders

and... start the day.

What do you do with the
time that you have left?

That's the question.

The universe has tested
us in no uncertain terms.

There's a utility to that.

One becomes formed into something else.

A survivor.

There's power in that.

Money.

It doesn't mean anything now.

I think about those people

sitting on piles of it...

I don't know.

Eating caviar out of ladles, something.

They could've done
something for the world.

But they missed their chance.

Us? This group?

We're lousy with skills.

That's what being rich today is.

And we sure as hell
gonna spread the wealth.

I had some caviar once.

I didn't... I thought
it tasted like bait.

I get that people don't trust us.

I didn't trust her when she reached out.

Now I'm reaching out.

Things change.

And if we can make that spread...

... that's everything.

I got a chance here

to do exactly what I need to do,

so I'm taking it.

Every time we saw each other as people

and helped each other,

things got better.

We're good at this.

It's like everything else
was training for this.

When we got that plane back in the air,

when we landed it,

when we did the impossible...

some people noticed.

At least a few.

But that's all we needed.

Was that your plane?

I heard your message.

Found one of those boxes.

Can you really help me?

We haven't stopped since.

So you're helping people.

What about the other thing?

The other thing?

What's the... What's the other thing?

You said it was time
we all started living.

Yeah.

Well, that... that is, uh, something

we're still working on.

Why is that?

Because, um...

I guess sometimes it's easier

to see what other people need help with.

- Got it?
- Mm-hmm.

You okay?

Yeah, I'm good.

Let's get back to it.
