Catfish: The TV Show (2012–…): Season 5, Episode 4 - Brandon & McKenna - full transcript

Brandon loves McKenna, but failed attempts to connect has left him wondering if McKenna is for real. Nev teams with social media sensation Karrueche Tran to help Brandon uncover the shocking truth of his true love.

>> I mean, I don't know

what to say, man,

This is, like--I've seen some

interesting stuff on the show,

but this is, like,

borderline stalker.

>> [bleep].

Oh, God.

Why couldn't it have been

just someone else?

I wouldn't have been

this pissed.

Oh, God.

>> Oh, here she is.

Anyone seen Max?

Really?

He just called in

sick or something?

He's playing hooky?

Well, you can't make the show

without a co-host.

I say we walk the halls.

Someone's gotta do it, right?

Anybody?

That says, "Do not disturb,"

so I won't look there.

Do you want to co-host the show

with me?

Are you busy?

>> Yeah.

>> You guys are busy, sorry.

Oh, check it out.

Hello?

>> Uh, hello?

>> Do you want to co-host

the show with me?

>> Let's do it.

[laughs]

>> We found a co-host.

You guys know who this is?

Karrueche.

If you don't, you should.

She's a fun, beautiful

social media superstar

and big fan of "Catfish."

>> Oh, yeah.

I'm your new Max.

[laughs]

>> So you have a large

social media following.

>> Yeah.

>> So I have to imagine also

that you've had a very

unique experience

with profiles and, like--

>> Oh, definitely.

There's people who, like,

use my picture.

>> Whoa.

>> It is crazy that to this

day people still are getting

catfished and tricked.

So let's help them.

Come on.

>> All right, let's do this.

Here we go.

"Hopeful country boy

ready to make a move."

So I'm gonna adjust this.

"Dear Nev and Karrueche,

my name is Brandon,

and I'm an 18-year-old

construction worker, and I live

in Kalama, Washington."

Wow, cool.

"I'm writing to you guys

because I think I may have met

the perfect girl for me.

I met McKenna on Kik--"Keek"?

>> "Kick."

>> Do you say "Kick" or--

>> "Kick."

>> "Keek" is cuter.

>> "Keek."

>> "We started talking on Kik

for the first few weeks,

but then she got a phone

and started texting."

>> That's, like, a sign.

>> Maybe she didn't have

a cell phone yet.

I mean, that's unusual.

>> Okay.

>> All right, okay, let's just

keep reading, okay.

"I know it has only been a

short time, but there is

something so special

about this girl.

>> * Here we are together

>> "I really feel like I found

someone I could not only

build a relationship with,

but who is a best friend."

>> Aww.

>> "She is perfect and beautiful

in every aspect."

>> * Feeling good

* That's all I need to know *

>> "Not only is she

crazy good-looking,

but she understands me,

and even though we have

only known each other

for a couple months,

I can honestly say"--

>> That he loves her.

>> * 'Cause you light me up *

* Oh, you light me up

>> "I just built up the courage

to tell her I love her

last week"...

>> * How ya feeling tonight

>> "But I feel that

we have hit a wall.

I've asked her if she would talk

on the phone or video chat,

but she declines

every time I ask.

I think this is due to her

parents, who are really strict,

and they won't let her

talk to people online

that they don't know.

I can't see her in person

because she lives so far away.

I don't know what to do

at this point.

I love McKenna,

but I have seen the show,

and in the back of my mind,

I can't help but wonder

if everything McKenna

has told me is for real.

Please, can you help me?"

>> What's confusing is that they

started talking on Kik,

and then she got a phone?

>> Or maybe she was using,

like, an iPod?

>> How the heck do you have

an iPod, and you don't have

a phone?

>> Well, that's a good question.

Oh, look, here he is.

>> He's online.

He's got the Bieber hairdo

going on.

>> All right, well, let's see

if we can get him

on the horn.

>> Yeah, let's make sure

we look good, okay?

>> There he is.

>> Hey!

>> Oh, wow, so no--

no more long hair.

>> Yeah, I got short hair.

>> Well, I don't know if you

noticed Max got a facelift.

>> Oh.

>> Basically, Max ditched me.

He's on vacation.

I happened to get lucky

and bump into this cutie pie.

>> You found a good one.

>> Wait till you see her teeth

in person.

[both laughing]

>> So a couple months ago,

you're on Kik.

>> Yeah, it was late at night,

and I get this random message.

It's a girl named McKenna,

and we started talking.

The first thing

that really caught my eye

was how friendly she was.

She was easy to carry out

a conversation with,

and, you know, the first picture

I saw of her,

she was just an absolute angel.

You know, I found out

that she lived in Washington,

like, ten minutes away from me,

which was really cool.

>> Ten minutes?

>> Wait a second.

>> That's so close,

and you've never met her?

>> Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa.

You said in your email

that she lives far away.

>> Well, about a month ago,

she moved to Florida.

She wouldn't tell me what city.

>> Does she have a Facebook

page?

>> She doesn't have a Facebook

page or any social media.

>> In the email, you said

that she got a phone.

>> Before she moved to Florida,

she was using an iPod to Kik me.

>> You were right.

>> And then when she moved--

'cause it was her friend's iPod.

She moved, so she had to give

that back, and then as soon as

she got to Florida, her parents

bought her a regular cell phone,

and she's been

texting me through that,

but I haven't been able to

call her, hear her voice.

>> Why, because her parents

are strict?

>> Yeah, like, her dad

shut off the multimedia settings

on her phone,

so she can't send pictures.

She can't video chat.

I can't even call her,

like, late at night 'cause

she'll wake up her parents,

stuff like that.

>> That doesn't look suspicious

to you at all?

>> Yeah, but nothing else

really raises a red flag.

Even the pictures

that she sent me,

they look like the same girl

so, you know,

a good 80% sure it's her.

>> So you love her, for sure?

>> Yeah.

We both love each other.

I'd like to eventually use my

money to have her fly back

with me and move in with me.

>> Wow.

>> That's a big commitment

to make to each other,

having never met,

that you're gonna sort of sweep

her away from her family

and bring her back to Washington

and move in together.

>> Yeah, yeah.

It's huge.

>> So look, sit tight and--

>> Let's find McKenna.

>> Let's find McKenna.

Thank you, yes, exactly.

See, I need--this is

why I need a co-host.

Let's find McKenna.

Let's find McKenna.

Come on, Brandon.

>> Come on, join us.

>> Let's find--

>> Nah, I'm not gonna--

>> Oh, man.

All right, we will

see you really soon.

>> Awesome.

>> Peace.

>> Bye.

>> Merp.

>> What was that?

>> Merp, that's my expression.

>> Oh, man.

>> Merp.

>> I'm just worried

that if I bring you around,

he's gonna forget about McKenna.

>> Is it the teeth?

>> Look at those teeth.

>> Sorry, Brandon.

Let's find McKenna.

Let's find McKenna.

>> Yeah, we're going to Kalama.

The question is,

will it be a calamity?

>> We are on the way

to Brandon's house?

To talk about McKenna.

I mean, if it was me,

I would want to, like,

call him and FaceTime,

so I would definitely need more.

Let's see what happens.

>> * You loved the times

* I sang

* Your loss was mine

*

>> Cool, big rig.

Sweet.

What's up? Hey, buddy.

>> Yep, nice to meet you.

>> Hi, Brandon.

Nice to meet you. Karrueche.

>> Hi, Karrueche.

>> Nice to meet you.

>> Nice to meet you.

>> What was your name?

>> Brent.

>> Brent, nice to meet you.

>> All right.

>> Hi, how are you? I'm Mom.

>> Hi, Karrueche.

>> Nice to meet you.

>> Do you guys know about this

girl he's been texting with?

You talk about it at all?

>> I've talked to them

a little bit about it.

>> A little bit.

We have mixed feelings about it.

>> And previous relationships?

>> Yeah, he's had some

interest in--

>> He's been heartbroken over--

>> Oh, yeah, oh, yeah.

>> Pretty seriously, yeah, yeah.

>> Let's not do that.

>> Well, we definitely

need to talk with Brandon

a little bit more.

>> Sure.

>> Enjoy.

>> Let's do it.

>> See you guys later.

>> both: All right.

>> All right, my humble abode.

This is the--

>> Karrueche.

>> Gotta wipe your feet off

dance.

>> All right.

How you feeling?

>> I'm feeling pretty great,

actually; I'm excited.

>> This is you excited?

I just want to know

how to gauge.

>> Yeah, yeah, I probably don't

look excited, but I am.

>> So tell us about your,

like, previous relationships,

because we kind of brought it up

outside, and you seemed a bit,

like, tense, and you didn't want

to talk about it.

>> All right. Yeah, yeah.

>> So was there some, like,

heartbreak or some moment

that kind of happened?

>> Yeah, my ex, most recent one,

she went to school with me.

I really honestly,

truly loved this girl.

After school got finished,

she was gone for the whole week

at a friend's house.

She came home Friday with

a really good friend of mine,

and the first thing she says

when she walks in the door is,

she's dating my friend,

and that instantly just ruined

me, sent me into a depression.

I lost 60 pounds.

I mean, it messed me up.

>> Whoa.

>> Whoa.

>> That's intense, man.

>> That is very intense.

>> Yeah, it was very intense,

but McKenna was making

it better.

McKenna was kind of pulling

those feelings away from her.

I was finally starting

to be myself again,

coming out of the depression.

I thought, "Holy God,

this is, like, an angel."

Starting to gain my weight back.

I literally thought it was

an angel--I'm not gonna lie.

>> And what makes you say that?

>> 'Cause it--

>> Just like the conversation--

>> Conversations are just like

I'm talking to a girlfriend,

pretty much.

>> All right, so look, pursuing

this now with us puts all that

at risk because you might find

that she's not someone

that you want to be with.

>> I'm all-in right now.

>> So give us the afternoon,

see what we can find out.

>> Yeah, right on.

Thank you so much.

Hopefully hear from you soon.

>> Nice to meet you.

>> All right, we'll

see you later.

>> All right.

>> Well, that was interesting.

>> Definitely.

My big concern is that this is

the girl that helped him get

over his previous relationship

that was wrecked.

You know, he went through

that big depression,

so if this doesn't turn out

the way he wants it to,

he's gonna be devastated.

>> Come on, Nev.

Let's go.

>> Coffee Shop Laundromat--

that's so smart.

Laundromats where you can chill

and get coffee and, like,

hang out, not be bored.

>> I dare you to get in

one of them.

>> I don't think I can fit

in there.

>> I could fit in it.

Help.

Uh-oh, I think I'm doing it.

>> Yes, oh, my God.

All right, let me take a photo

for you.

Try to look--look cute.

>> I can't.

I'm getting a cramp.

>> Can you get out?

>> Ugh!

>> Like childbirth.

That was amazing.

>> Okay, let's do some research.

>> All right, so here's

what we got.

We got Brandon.

He's just coming out

of a heartbreaking relationship

but along comes McKenna.

>> He says they're in love.

>> The question is, is McKenna

the Washington state cutie pie

who moved to Florida

or someone very, very different?

>> Dun, dun, dun.

Let's do it.

Can you do this?

>> No.

>> Ha!

>> All right, here's the email

from Brandon.

"Here's all the information

I have on McKenna.

Her phone number--

I've also attached the photos

she sent me."

>> Well, what area code is 813?

>> Let's see what--

Let's look up this

phone number, okay,

and see if we get anything.

Searching.

>> This is making me so nervous

right now.

That's my suspense face.

>> Okay, unavailable, but it is

a Florida area code.

Oh, but wait a second.

It says it's a land line.

>> Wait, but how is that

possible?

>> Whenever you look up

a cell phone number,

and it comes up as a landline,

sometimes it's because it's

a phone number that someone

generated in an app

or Google Voice.

>> Like a Google number.

>> Yes.

I think what we need to do now

is run the photos.

Searching the first photo.

>> Oh, my God, I'm nervous.

[gasps]

>> No, no hit.

All right, searching image

number two--nothing.

>> Dude, you have got

to be kidding me.

Merp.

>> Okay, but check this out.

There was a time where I was

taking a lot of photographs.

Sometimes there's, like,

certain tags or where it was

taken or other--

>> Right.

>> So let's just see if we click

info--no camera information,

no lens information, hold on.

What the hell is that?

"Dewey Que Te Den"?

Is that the title

of the picture?

>> Looks like Spanish.

>> It does, right?

>> Should we Google that--

that phrase?

>> Yeah.

Oh, wait, there's a Facebook

page for this.

Is that--

>> [gasping]

>> Oh, boy.

>> [gasps]

>> I think--

>> Wait, that's her.

>> Is this her?

It looks like her.

Wait, let's go to this page.

Is this her page?

>> Look!

>> Oh, there it is.

There's the picture.

>> That is freaking her.

>> She's in a relationship.

>> Oh, my gosh.

>> Okay, so this is just some

random girl who lives in

a small town in Spain.

>> Brandon is not

gonna be happy, so--

>> Yikes.

Well, so now we know the girl

in the pictures is this girl.

Bottom line is,

whoever Brandon's talking

to is up to something.

>> I feel like it's somebody

in his hometown.

>> It could be somebody

he knows.

>> So what do we do?

>> So I think we need to talk

to Brandon, see what he

wants to do.

>> You're gonna break the news

to him, not me.

>> Okay.

All right, let's get over there.

>> We're gonna go break the news

to Brandon.

>> If I were him, I'm not sure

what I would want at this point.

Do I want to continue pursuing

this and find out something

I don't want to know?

>> Right.

>> Like, I could see him

getting pretty mad.

>> Yeah.

[doorbell rings]

>> Hey, guys, what's up?

>> Yo.

>> Brandon, happy Labor Day.

>> Come on in.

>> We in here?

>> Yeah, let's go in here.

Let's sit down.

All right, well, look.

We've got some things

to talk about.

We definitely

made some progress.

>> Cool.

>> Let's just get into

everything.

First thing we did was

a search for the phone number,

and this is a phone number

registered to Tampa, Florida,

but there are apps and websites

that let you create a phone

number and text through the app.

When you do that, you can pick

a phone number from anywhere.

>> Mm-hmm.

>> So I'm not saying

that's what's happening,

but that doesn't necessarily

mean that's where she is.

>> Oh, great.

>> But we were able to find

some information out.

If you open the photos,

there's an information button.

We clicked on that...

>> Mm-hmm.

>> And there's one line

of text here, and you can see,

it's, like, this very strange,

"Dewey Que Te Den."

>> It's, like, Spanish

or something,

but we Googled that.

>> And there is a Facebook page

that uses

the "Dewey Que Te Den" wording.

>> Hmm, okay.

>> And it seems to be,

like, some guy's page,

but when we scroll down,

there's a picture of this girl.

>> Huh.

>> And if we click on

the picture, it takes us

to this page.

>> So--I--

>> Yeah, well, so what it looks

like is that the girl in the

pictures that you've seen

is from a small town in Spain.

>> Hmm.

>> And in a lot of her pictures,

she kind of gives, like,

a photo credit to, I guess,

her boyfriend, Dewey Que Te Den,

who takes pictures.

>> Well, good for him.

*

>> * Love had a purpose

* Love was a road

>> That's really kind of crappy.

>> * And it runs

* On out

* Again and comes back around

>> This is a big deal.

What do we want to do

after this?

Because this definitely

changes things.

>> A lot, yeah.

>> Is this not being her picture

a deal breaker for you?

>> No, no.

>> So you would be willing

to continue to talk to her?

>> Yeah, oh, absolutely.

I still want to figure out

who it is.

>> Well, yeah.

>> I do too.

>> We do too.

>> Yeah, yeah.

I'm still confident that she is

who she says she is,

like, personally,

but not visually anymore,

obviously.

So what do you want to do next?

>> You want to just, like,

take a two-second break

and talk about it outside and,

like, see what we can think of?

All right, yeah.

>> You want to just go out here?

>> Sure, yeah.

>> Cool, yeah.

>> So, I mean, I feel like the

only real strategy left here is,

like, we call.

The question is, what do we say

once we get her on the phone?

>> I think we just go for it

and say, "Is this McKenna?"

>> All right, here goes nothing.

[phone line trilling]

[voicemail beeps]

Hi, my name is Nev, and I am

currently making an episode

of the TV show "Catfish."

I just wanted to ask

a couple questions.

Please, give me a call

back when you can.

Thanks.

So it is a text app.

>> Yeah.

>> So that means that, like,

she could set that number

up from anywhere, potentially.

>> Yeah.

>> Chances are, we may not hear

from her tonight, tomorrow.

It happens to be a holiday.

>> Mm-hmm.

>> I mean, did you have

any other thing

that you wanted to do?

>> Yeah, well, I was just gonna

hang out at the house.

We're having a barbecue,

so if you want to come,

you're more than welcome to.

>> Yeah.

We'll see you in a little bit.

>> Absolutely, sounds good.

>> You ready for a little

country barbecue?

Look at this spread.

It's a delicious burger.

[sighs]

>> both: Hi.

>> I'm Karrueche.

>> Nikki, nice to meet you.

>> Nice to meet you.

>> Ah!

[laughing]

>> Oh, my gosh.

>> Oh, it's gonna roll.

>> * Into, I looked into

>> Hey, what are you--

>> both: Nice!

>> Way to go.

>> What a man.

>> That was a pro move.

>> What a man.

>> Let's sit on

the stairs, yeah?

>> Cool.

>> I was trying to chat

with you guys a little bit,

get a feel for Brandon

and the situation he's in.

Do you guys know anything

about Brandon's, like,

recent love affair?

>> Little bit.

>> A little bit.

>> Hopefully, it's her.

If it's not, then he's gonna

come back, be heartbroken...

like usual.

>> So it's, like, a trend?

Sort of the thing that he does?

>> Yeah.

>> It's just kind of

the way Brandon is.

>> Right.

>> It seems like he kind of gets

his heart broken, so he tries to

fill it with someone else, like,

kind of moves on kind of thing.

>> Right.

>> I'm sure you have a lot

on your mind that's--

>> Yeah, yeah.

It really is a bummer

that, you know,

she's not the person

that's in the pictures,

you know, 'cause I kind of

based, you know, her personality

off of the pictures

that I thought was her,

and now that it's not, it sucks.

>> I've been in a situation

where I was hurt and crushed,

and I had to learn the hard way,

and I had to learn

to put myself first.

You know, I just--God forbid

you were to go

into a depression again.

>> No. Yeah.

No, it was bad.

>> Yeah.

>> It's an instant kind of

snap for me.

>> * I don't wanna be *

* Don't wanna be alone *

>> You know, after the whole

thing with my ex, it sucks that

this happened when you've

already been in a place

that was so terrible.

>> * I'm tired of feeling *

* Tired of feeling

>> Those memories flood back

into that deep emotion

that makes you hurt and angry

and all of that.

It's really tearing me apart.

>> Do you guys think you want

this to maybe somehow

work out for him?

>> Mm-hmm.

>> I hope it does.

Just in the fact that it seems

like he's been through a lot of

heartbreak, and if they are in

love, and it's real, you know,

I hope that whatever they're

both feeling is true, that it

works out for them.

I mean, I don't want to see him

heartbroken again, so--

>> I'm still so nervous

to know like--

>> The same, you know?

>> You know, what's really

going on behind.

>> Yeah, but no matter what,

I care about this person.

>> Regardless that it's not

the girl in the pictures,

I'm still rooting for you guys.

>> Yeah, well,

I appreciate that.

>> I'm a big supporter of love.

>> Yeah, yeah.

>> I can tell you care

about her, and we'll see.

>> Yeah, well.

>> So they leave me in the hotel

room to go pick up Karrueche,

but they left the monitor, so I

can still see what's going on.

>> Here?

>> Uh-uh.

>> Oh, maybe I should knock

first, right?

[knocking]

Good morning!

>> This is crazy.

>> Ha!

>> There she is from the front.

There she is from the back.

>> Your little bit of sunshine

is here.

>> All right.

Yesterday we didn't find

anything out about McKenna,

actually.

We just sort of found out--

>> That it's not her

in the picture.

>> Right, we gotta try

and find something.

>> Yeah.

>> The story started with Kik.

That's how she reached out

to him.

We got her username.

>> KennaLove$Pink.

>> Yeah.

>> So maybe there's, like,

an email address attached, or--

>> Something.

All right, so look.

This is a website that lets

you search, like, usernames.

>> On what, all, like,

social media sites?

>> I think it--yeah, it sort of

does, like, a social media-wide

username search.

So let's just see.

Okay, KennaLove$Pink.

Here we go.

>> Twitter?

>> We got a Twitter.

No Kik profile.

>> No.

>> Well, let's just see

what this is on Twitter.

Oh, look at this.

I recognize that girl.

Okay, here's a Twitter profile

with a picture of the fake--

>> Kenna?

>> McKenna from Spain,

whatever her real name is,

that's very active.

I mean, it's gotta be her.

>> Right.

>> Let's just see if we can

find, like, anything personal.

What?

>> Who's that?

>> I don't know.

>> That--That doesn't look

like Brandon to you?

>> Actually, it does.

>> And remember, the picture

we initially saw of him--

>> He had that long hair.

>> He had that hair.

>> Holy [bleep].

Okay, so hold on a second.

This just got really weird.

So this is a Snapchat story

back from November.

>> What the F?

>> Look what she said.

"She stole my bae from me,

but he doesn't look

that interested."

All right, so we need to figure

out who this girl is, because

whoever McKenna is, she's

probably friends with that girl

and clearly knows who Brandon is

and has for way longer than

they've been talking.

>> So she's been, like,

watching him.

>> Sort of stalking him.

>> Yeah.

We gotta show Brandon

this picture.

>> Let's go.

Snapchat drama.

>> Yeah.

I think it's a secret admirer.

>> That's kind of what it

feels like.

>> I think she's been plotting.

>> But I mean, this girl's been

after him for--

>> Some time.

>> Which is a little creepy.

>> Yeah.

[knocking]

>> Hey, guys.

>> Hey, bud.

>> How you doing? Come on in.

It's nice to see you guys.

>> Oh, man.

Have you talked at all

with McKenna?

>> Not at all, actually.

It kind of weirds me out.

>> I mean, we haven't heard

anything back from her either.

>> Nothing?

>> No.

>> Oh, my God.

>> But here's what

we did figure out.

>> Okay.

>> The one thing we kind of

forgot to do yesterday

because you had told us that she

wasn't on Kik anymore was,

we didn't look up her Kik

username, KennaLove$Pink.

>> Yeah.

>> So we just did a search

on this, like,

social media username website

for KennaLove$Pink.

Sure enough, there's a Twitter

profile that is, in fact,

KennaLove$Pink,

and this was the first tweet

that we found,

but when we went to the profile,

the first thing we saw

and noticed

was the profile picture.

>> It's the same.

>> [bleep], that's weird.

What?

Did you guys go through, like,

all of her tweets and stuff?

>> We did.

>> This is crazy.

>> Yeah, and it's

only gonna get weirder.

>> Oh, great.

What the [bleep]?

>> That's you, yeah?

>> Yeah, but that picture was

never anywhere on social media.

>> That's a--That's a

screen grab from Snapchat.

>> That's a--yeah.

>> Who's the girl?

>> That--That's my ex.

>> So she follows your ex

on Snapchat.

>> Oh, God.

What the hell?

>> So clearly, whoever you're

talking to is keeping tabs

on you and, like, are a part

of your community much more

than I think you even realize.

>> Uh, yeah.

That's weird.

>> Which might explain why they

won't talk to you on the phone.

>> It's really creepy.

Is that all you found

on this one?

>> Well, we didn't scroll down

past that 'cause we saw that.

We're like, "We gotta call

this guy and get over there,

because--"

>> Well, keep scrolling.

>> I mean, sure, we can look

to see if there's more.

>> I don't--I don't know.

It's just weird.

>> I mean, she's talking

about Harry Styles.

I mean, a lot of it's just

sort of girly st--

>> Whoa, whoa, whoa, wait.

Hold on, hold on.

Talking about Harry Styles?

Where does it say that?

>> Why?

>> Oh, God.

There's this girl that is

madly in love with me

since freshman year,

and she's obsessed

with Harry Styles--

obsessed.

>> Well, this girl seems to be

into the whole

Harry Styles thing.

>> Oh, God.

I wasn't interested in her

at all.

>> She lives in this area?

>> Yeah, her name is Kharece.

>> Would it make sense

that she would follow your ex

on Snapchat?

>> Yeah, mm-hmm.

>> Do they know each other?

>> They were best friends

before I started dating her.

When I started dating her,

because she was so obsessed

with me, it tore them apart.

>> But you're not interested?

>> Not at all.

>> Why is that?

>> Just--

>> She's just not your type?

>> No, not at all.

Not one bit.

>> When was the last time

you saw this girl, Kharece?

>> Last weekend.

>> Like, out?

>> No, she came over

to my house to say hi.

>> She came here?

>> Mm-hmm.

She randomly likes to drive

by my house all the time.

>> The hell?

>> This girl is literally

obsessed.

>> Oh, my gosh.

>> Well, I mean, I don't know

what to say, man.

This is, like--I've seen some

interesting stuff on the show,

but this is, like,

borderline stalker.

>> [bleep]. Oh, God.

>> I don't know what to do next.

>> Oh, God.

>> Oh, God.

Now I correlate

with all of her tweets

to the personality of this girl,

and it totally just--

>> Clicking.

>> Click.

Oh, God.

>> Well, so now we know that

McKenna is very likely Kharece.

>> No, it's not very likely.

That's her.

>> No, I know that girl

pretty well,

and she is a compulsive liar,

and she likes to do

these kind of things.

>> Well, I'm just saying

I don't think we should

make any decisions

right this second.

Why don't we just chill out

for a minute,

see how we feel about it?

>> Yeah, all right.

>> I can't believe she just,

like, comes over here sometimes.

>> Oh, my God.

Just so stupid.

Oh, my God.

You know Nikki

who came over for the barbecue?

>> My bad.

>> Now, I don't know if she knew

anything, but that's

Kharece's best friend.

>> Oh, my gosh.

>> Yeah, oh, my God.

>> Wow.

>> This is gonna get tricky.

>> And you and Kharece have

never had any kind of relations?

Previously, you guys

never dated or--

>> Never.

>> Hung out on a little extra

friends with benefits type of--

like, why?

This girl is in love with you.

>> She is.

Okay, all right.

>> What happened?

>> Fine, I was kind of

trying to dance around that,

but, yeah, there was some

friends with benefits

type of things here and there.

>> Wow.

>> What's up, guys?

>> We're just having a convo.

>> Nothing much.

>> One interesting thing

that Brandon has told me

is that him and Kharece

had some sort of relations.

>> Friends with benefits,

if you will.

>> Friends with benefits

thing going on.

>> Put it out there.

Just put it out there.

It doesn't even matter.

>> Wait a second.

What?

>> Yeah,

for four years previously.

>> Yeah, I know.

>> Hey, it's great.

Good for you but, like, you--

>> Yeah, well, it kind of

put me in the spot now.

>> So you and Kharece,

throughout high school,

at periods of time,

would hook up?

>> Yeah.

>> I mean, look.

There's obviously a lot

of history here.

So I mean, we could sit

around here and talk about it.

>> Or get [bleep] done.

>> Right, or we could

figure it out and--

>> Yeah, which I'm

totally game for.

>> All right, so here's what

I think we should do.

You send Kharece a text

and say something like,

"Hey, I'm here

with the 'Catfish' crew.

We could really, you know,

use your help.

I'd love if you could

come over and talk."

>> She may not even come over.

We'll wait and see.

[phone buzzing]

>> Oh.

>> Whoa, that was fast.

>> She said she'll be here

in 15, 20 minutes.

>> Okay, well,

you got 15 minutes

to sort of figure out

how you feel about all this.

>> Oh, God.

Why her?

Why couldn't it have

been just someone else?

I wouldn't have been

this pissed.

[sighing]

Oh, God.

>> Oh, well, here she is.

Hey, I'm Nev.

>> I'm Kharece.

>> Kharece, nice to meet you.

>> Nice to meet you too.

>> This is Karrueche.

>> Hi.

>> Nice to meet you.

>> You too.

>> You know essentially

kind of what's been

going on with Brandon.

He's talking to this girl.

We came here to help him

figure out who she was,

and the trail

sort of led to you...

>> Mm-hmm.

>> And from what we understand,

you made the McKenna profile.

>> Yes.

>> What?

Does Nikki know?

>> Yes.

>> Oh, nice, good.

That--well, that's great.

That's wonderful.

>> So at what point did you

make the Kik account?

>> I started to make

a Kik account because,

like, these people

from Yik Yak were talking to me,

and I didn't want to

give them my information,

so I just made

a random Kik account,

and then it was,

like, your contact,

Brandon, has a Kik account,

and then I just said, "Oh,

I'll talk to him and see

what he has to say

to this random person."

>> And then you went and made--

you made a TextMe account

and started texting me.

>> Yes.

>> Okay, cool.

>> So it got a little

out of hand.

>> Yeah, I did not think

it would go this far at all.

>> Yeah, well, it did.

You made some wrong judgment

there.

Yeah.

You could've just

texted me as Kharece.

>> Yeah, 'cause you'd

totally reply to me.

>> Well, you didn't try,

so you don't know.

>> I know, but I didn't lie

to you, other than the name

and the place I lived.

>> I know Kharece.

I went to school with Kharece

for four years,

and you are nothing like who

I was talking to, one bit.

>> But didn't you fall in love

with McKenna,

who happens to be me?

>> Yeah, but it's you.

>> So you really love Brandon?

>> Yes, I do.

>> What is it

that you love about Brandon?

>> It's a lot of things.

Um, I think he's, like,

super compassionate.

When he loves people,

he gives his whole being to it,

and not a lot of people do that,

and you don't give up on people

easily.

That's nice.

>> I appreciate that.

I do, and I'm sorry

it came down to this,

but you kind of

brought it upon yourself.

>> Okay.

>> You seem to be

taking this pretty well.

>> I don't, like,

cry, ever, so I mean,

I'm hurt inside right now,

but I'm just not showing it.

>> Usually, when we

have these situations,

it's introducing two strangers

to each other.

You guys are not strangers.

You have a very real

relationship in real life,

so the question is, like, well,

what happens to that now?

>> I just--I just want to

kind of think a little bit

by myself.

>> Yeah, all right,

well, good to meet you.

>> Nice to meet you too.

>> * Stories I've been told *

* Crying 'cause I know *

* It won't be too long *

>> Take the afternoon.

Think about everything.

>> Yeah, yeah.

See you guys soon.

>> All right,

we'll talk to you later.

>> Yeah.

Bull[bleep].

It's all [bleep] bull[bleep].

[bleep].

Oh, my God.

>> Good morning.

>> Good morning.

Who's this?

And having--

>> Just some random dude

in my--my bathroom.

>> Guys stay over last night?

>> [laughing]

>> [sighs]

All right, well, let's call

Kharece to see how she's feeling

and what she's up to.

[phone line trilling]

>> Hello?

>> Hey, Kharece.

>> Hi.

>> We thought it might be nice

to come talk to you

without Brandon.

>> Oh, Nikki that we met

from the barbecue the other day?

>> All right,

see you in a little bit.

>> Hi.

>> Hey.

>> Hey, everybody.

>> You know Nikki.

>> Yeah, hey.

>> Nice to meet you again.

>> Good to see you.

>> This is my friend Erica.

>> Hi, nice to meet you.

>> Hi, nice to meet you.

>> So both of you have known the

entire time about the situation?

>> Oh, yeah.

>> Yeah, pretty much.

>> Specifically that you were

talking to Brandon as McKenna?

>> Mm-hmm, yes.

>> I felt like I never lied

to him, other than my identity.

I meant every single thing

I said.

>> And her whole goal

was just to talk with him.

It's hard when you're so in love

with someone who consistently

invites you over but doesn't

say, "We're not dating."

>> So he never

directly told you--

>> No, he never said,

"I don't like you that way."

He never said that.

>> We would hear it through

his friends or something,

but he never did.

>> And Nikki's seen this.

When me and him are alone,

it's completely different than

when his friends are around.

>> He acts like he's a couple

with her.

>> And then when we go to, like,

a party, he never speaks to me.

And it's, like, are you,

like, embarrassed by me?

It makes me feel like crap.

>> So why are you

still pursuing him?

I mean, if he did want

to go out with you,

he probably would have made

that clear by now.

>> People tell me all the time,

but it's, like, every time

we see each other, it's like,

I'm like, "Today's the day

he's gonna commit

and say we're ready."

>> Yeah.

>> And I don't want to

give up on something that

would be great, eventually.

>> I get it a little bit more

now, obviously.

>> Yeah.

>> So I feel like we

should go over there.

We'll help back you up

on a lot of these things

so that you can effectively

communicate them.

>> That'll be helpful.

>> Nice to meet you.

>> Bye.

>> Bye.

>> * I've been caught *

* In the wire

* Since I turned

* Eight years old

>> What do you think right now,

just in terms of, like,

going over to see Brandon?

>> If I don't look at him

directly, I can do this.

I can say how I feel.

I don't want to say the wrong

thing that he might hate me for.

>> * Free me

>> [sighing]

>> This episode of

"Catfish: The TV Show"

continues now.

All right.

You got this?

>> I think so.

>> Be brave.

>> Okay, I'm trying.

>> All right, guys.

>> Oh, my God, okay.

>> Hey, guys, how's it going?

>> Hey, Brandon.

>> What's up, bud?

>> Come on in, come on in.

>> All right, well,

we all just came from talking.

From what I understand,

you guys have had something,

and it wasn't exactly

clear what it was.

>> Is there a reason why you

were never able to directly

voice your opinions to her?

>> I think it was because

I thought it was pretty clear,

just from what my friends have

told me that they said to her,

and so I thought she got it.

>> But it was hard

for me to believe it if,

like, you never said it,

so I've just held on to the hope

of us being together, like,

just hanging out, you know.

>> But also, even if you had

said a million times,

"I don't want to date you,"

but then called her

and been like, "Hey,

come over and hang out," like,

that's a mixed signal.

>> Knowing her feelings

towards you.

>> Right.

I want to make it clear.

I do not have those feelings

for you as you do for me,

and I know how you feel.

Trust me, I do.

>> [sighs]

Like, there's correlation

between me and McKenna.

>> Yeah, uh--

>> The only things that she

protected herself from were

things that would give away

her identity.

The person that you were

talking to was her.

>> I was her.

>> I just didn't see

the correlation whatsoever.

>> Right, but maybe you never

really thought about her that

way, but that really is her.

>> It was hard for her

when you guys weren't talking.

I mean--

>> Well, that's why I did it.

Like, that's why I started

talking to you as someone else,

because it's, like, although you

were talking to someone else,

it's like I was still

talking to you.

>> Okay.

Yeah, I can understand that.

>> And it's hard to,

like, think of it that way

when you know other things

about me.

I get that.

It makes sense.

>> I'm really sorry

that I made those mistakes

and hurt you that way.

>> I'm sorry I lied to you

about who I was.

I'm completely aware

of how you feel,

and it makes sense now 'cause

you've said it out loud,

but that doesn't mean

I don't want to see you,

and if you don't want

to see me, like, okay.

I can understand that,

but, like, we don't have

to hang out every single second

of every single day, but it's,

like, I just want to see you.

>> I have no problem

with us still being friends,

at the least.

>> Yeah.

>> If you guys are gonna

continue to be friends,

you know, you can't lead her on,

and you have to protect

your heart at the same time.

>> Hopefully, coming away from

this with a clear understanding

of where you guys stand with

each other, will only make it

that much easier for you guys

to get closer as friends.

[computer trilling]

Hello, Brandon.

>> What's up?

>> What's up, man?

>> Do you still

speak with Kharece?

>> She'll, like, text me

or Snapchat me casually,

but there's nothing

to that degree.

>> Are you dating anybody now

or seeing anyone?

>> No, probably won't

till hunting season's over.

>> What are you hunting?

>> Ducks.

>> You're looking for ducks,

not [bleep].

>> Yeah.

>> All right, later, Brandon.

>> Bye-bye.

>> Hey!

>> Hi, Kharece.

>> Hi.

>> So how are you feeling

after the whole crazy situation

with Brandon?

>> I--I don't know.

I mean, this is pathetic,

but sometimes I'll, like,

wake up in the middle of the

night just, like, crying

'cause I can't see him ever.

He's far away.

>> Aww.

>> Do you think there's ever

a chance that you and Brandon

could end up together?

>> I don't know.

I think he misses me

more than he lets on,

but maybe that's just because

I want him to miss me.

>> Don't worry.

You're so cute.

You'll find somebody.

>> Well, thanks.

>> All right, well,

it was good hearing from you.

I'm sure Prince Charming

will come around soon enough.

>> Thank you, bye.

>> Bye, guys.

>> Bye.

>> "My girlfriend asked me to

move to another state."

>> He's never heard her voice!

>> She's the first person I ever

said "I love you" to.

>> It's probably a guy.

>> It's a guy.

[both gasp]

>> This is bad.

>> They're messing with Jaylin.

He needs to know the truth.

>> Uh-oh, they could be

coming out.

>> I've missed out on so much

the past three years.
