Catfish: The TV Show (2012–…): Season 4, Episode 10 - Blaire & Markie - full transcript

Even though a young woman faced heartache from an instagram lover, she is still eager to meet.

>> We are getting close.

>> How you feeling?

>> Do I thank the girl for not

letting me walk into that street

that day I wanted to end

my life?

>> Keep in mind that she's

probably more nervous

and freaked out than you are.

>> Yeah.

>> Unless she comes--

Oh, is that the red--

Oh, look--

>> That's her dad.

>> The red truck--

it's coming home.

>> Whoa.

>> Oh, my God.

Like, this is really happening.

>> She could be playing

a very dark, twisted game.

>> Hello.

Where's the coffee?

>> All right, well, let's find

out who needs our help.

We have an email here

from Superman.

>> Is Superman a catfish?

>> Well, no, the question is,

"Which is the real version?"

He is really Superman.

He poses as Clark Kent.

So Superman's the catfish.

>> Right, Superman

is the catfish, and Clark Kent

is the mask.

>> Anyway, the subject

is "Catfished or Kidnapped"

"Hey, Nev and Max.

My name is Blaire.

I'm 22 and currently live

in San Antonio, Texas.

I just moved here

with my best friend, Terah,

around two months ago.

I'm originally from New York

and when I was there,

I met an amazing girl

named Markie from Fresno,

California, on Instagram.

We started talking immediately

and had an amazing connection.

When I first met Markie,

I was basically homeless.

I did not see eye to eye with

my parents about anything, and

I was kicked out with nothing

but the clothes on my back.

Markie is really the only person

who helped me out

of that dark place.

>> * Stand by me

* And I'll stand by you *

>> We poured our hearts out

to each other.

She gave me a purpose

and a reason not to end my life.

>> * Let your heart go boom

* Let your heart go boom

>> She was my girlfriend.

I loved her completely,

and I trusted no one but her.

>> * Boom

>> But we never got the chance

to video chat.

I asked all the time.

Around four months after meeting

online, we decided to meet

in person.

Problem is, a week before I was

supposed to meet her,

she got kidnapped.

A week after that, she calls me

from a mental hospital?

And Markie decided it was best

if we were just friends.

I was completely devastated

and never found out

what really happened."

Can we just talk about this?

>> Yeah, okay.

This is a pretty wild story.

>> It sounds sort

of preposterous

that this Markie girl

got kidnapped and then ended up

in a mental hospital.

>> This sounds more like kind

of the front page

of a supermarket tabloid.

>> "A few weeks ago,

I met a great girl.

We started dating,

and I posted this on Facebook.

Markie yelled at me on Facebook

to call her.

She told me I should not

date anyone, but she doesn't

want to date me either.

I'm so confused.

I want to move on,

but something holds me back.

Save me, guys!

Blaire."

So now Blaire is dating someone.

>> And then, boom.

>> And Markie shows up

and yells at her.

>> It's unfair.

>> We definitely need to find

out more about this.

[line ringing]

>> both: Hey.

>> Hello.

>> How you doing, Blaire?

>> Good, how are you?

>> I have to admit, we thought

we were getting an email

from Superman.

>> What's the connection

to Superman?

>> Everything that I've

came through made me, like,

stronger, so the girl of steel.

>> How are things going

in San Antonio?

What's going on?

>> I'm living with my best

friend, Terah, and her nephew.

We're in a hotel.

Hopefully getting an apartment

soon.

I'm in the process

of getting a job.

It's just really hard to deal

with, like, the money situation.

That's really my life

at this point.

>> So at what point did Markie

come into your life?

>> I met Markie when I became

homeless.

I had nothing.

I was living in my friend's car.

I was a mess, and when she

came in my life, I went out,

I got an apartment, a job,

and she was the reason why,

'cause I wanted to see her,

and I wanted to get her

a ticket.

>> Before you moved, you were

supposed to meet in New York.

>> Yeah.

>> And then...

>> She gets kidnapped.

>> She just kind of fell off

the grid?

>> Yeah, like, a few days,

I haven't heard from her.

I get a message from her sister

asking me,

"Have you seen Markie?

She hasn't been seen in,

like, the past few days."

I was devastated.

I was crying, panicking.

I was thinking the worst.

>> Did she explain

what happened?

>> She basically tells me,

"I was kidnapped.

I'm in a hospital,"

and that she doesn't want to be

in a relationship anymore

'cause she still has feelings

for her ex.

>> Markie does not sound

like the kind of person

who you should be with.

>> You're probably 100% right,

but I think it's the fact

that she was the only one

that was there for me

when I really needed someone.

I was living out of a car

in the middle of winter.

Who are you that you saved

my life?

I need to be able to move on

and be happy, and knowing

what really happened with her

is gonna give me that.

Deep inside, I know that

I do have feelings for her also,

and I want to know the person

that I was in love with and if

I am still in love with her.

>> I feel like you deserve

a break.

We want to come and help you

find out what really happened

and see if you can figure out

what the future looks like.

>> Well, I would love

your guys' help.

>> All right, hang in there,

and we'll see you really soon.

Bye, Blaire.

>> Bye.

>> Gee whiz.

I mean, this is way more

than just a catfish story.

>> Back to Texas.

>> * I'm just messing around *

>> * Around

>> * I'm just messing around *

>> * Around

>> * And I like it, yeah, yeah

* Yeah, I like it, like it

* Like it, yes, I do

>> We're going to see Blaire

at the hotel she lives in.

Definitely have to hand

it to her.

Given nothing, she's figured

out a way to cobble together

her life.

This is it.

Hey!

>> Hello.

>> How are you?

>> I'm good. How are you?

>> Come on, guys.

I like what you've done here.

>> Here's my living room,

kitchen thing.

>> How is it living here?

>> It's a roof over your head.

You have a bed, a blanket,

and a heater.

What else do you need?

I'd been living in cars before,

so this is a big upgrade.

>> What's, uh--

>> That's Ja'Kayden.

That's the baby.

He is really my world.

With him not having a mother

or a father around, that's me

and Terah's role right now.

>> When you met her,

was it a romantic thing?

Were you guys--

>> There was flirting, but we

came to the conclusion we're,

like, better friends.

And she's my backbone through

what I'm going through

right now.

Me and my family never seen

eye to eye, and they basically

said, "Get out of my house."

>> So you have a friend

who lets you stay in their car?

>> Yeah, I stayed in his car

for a few nights.

>> And then, like, what happens?

>> That's when I meet Markie.

>> Was it all texting?

>> I tried to Skype with her,

but she would always avoid it.

So it was just no point.

>> What are you thinking

you're gonna do at this point?

Like, are you looking for a job?

Are you, like--

>> At that point, honestly,

I thought I was gonna be dead...

'cause I'm just gonna

kill myself.

>> This is the time in your life

when, obviously, things are

worst, and you're thinking,

like, "It might just be better

to--"

>> Just end it, yeah.

There was a freeway.

And it was always cars going,

like, 70, so I was just gonna

walk into the traffic.

And then Markie would call.

And she happened to just call

every time I was gonna do

something stupid.

So she, like, literally

saved my life.

>> And what would you guys

talk about?

>> Everything.

She didn't have it easy either.

Her brother passed away.

Her and her dad have not

always gotten along.

She was always making me laugh,

and that's, like, what I needed.

It was like a new light

inside me.

I got a job, I was saving money,

and without her, who knows

if we'd even be sitting here?

I saved money from work,

and I bought her a plane ticket

from California to New York.

And then no one knows

where she is.

The cops are looking for her.

I called her dad, and I was

basically like, "Where is she?"

And he's like, "Well, I'm not

gonna get into it,

but she's not coming."

It's like she just disappeared.

Then, recently, I had myself

a girlfriend, Katarina,

and I put it on Facebook,

and Markie was like,

"You can't have a girlfriend,

but I don't want

to be with you."

>> [exhales deeply]

Roller coaster.

>> Pretty much.

>> I'd like to know a little

bit more about Markie,

if that's cool.

>> Yeah.

>> She's cute.

>> She's got, like,

a pretty full account.

Like, lots of profile pictures

over the years.

2,011 friends--

that's a lot of friends.

People have liked

and commented for a long time.

Her look has changed a bunch,

but it's clearly her.

>> This is a pretty

real-looking page.

>> Yeah.

>> Do you believe that getting

an explanation from Markie

could spark your relationship

with her again?

>> It all comes down to, like,

what the truth is.

I mean, why would you pull me

out of such a bad spot,

make me so happy, and throw me

back in the hole?

And I don't want to have

to ask why anymore.

I want to know the reason.

>> I think you need to think

about what opening this door

is really going to bring.

>> Whichever way it goes, I'll

just have to pick myself up,

dust my shoulders off,

and keep moving.

>> You've done that before.

>> Yes, I have, and I can do

it one more time.

[chuckles]

>> Okay.

Hopefully we'll get you

some answers.

Good to meet you.

>> You too.

>> Later, Blaire.

See ya.

>> Bye, thank you.

>> Life is complicated

for Blaire.

>> Nothing is simple for her.

Markie is more than just a girl

that she was in love with.

>> Right.

>> It's a girl who totally

reset her perspective on life.

>> Which is why I think

it's important for Blaire

to believe that Markie

is a good person.

>> When we find out

what really happened,

the kidnapping story

is gonna seem light.

I think it could be much,

much darker than that.

>> Oh, pancakes.

>> Surfing the Web

at this pancake house.

>> It's a beer garden.

>> All right, pancakes and beer,

please.

All right, so we're dealing

with a very sensitive situation

here, because we've got Blaire,

who had a very difficult

past couple of years.

>> And on the verge of suicide,

she meets Markie on Instagram...

>> Yeah, on Instagram.

>> Who pulled her out

of her depression, saved her.

A week before they were going

to meet in New York after Blaire

bought a plane ticket

for Markie,

Markie gets kidnapped.

And then a week later, she calls

from a mental institution.

>> And she says, "I'm not

into you right now."

No explanation, nothing.

Let's do a couple image

searches quickly.

Let's see if any of Markie's

pictures hits.

No.

All right, here, there's

another one we can try.

None of the pictures

are coming back with any hits.

>> Well, it seems like Markie

might be exactly who she says

she is, but when the story

checks out, then there's

generally a much more sinister

reason why they're not meeting.

>> Let's run Markie's

phone number.

Here we go.

>> Oh.

>> We have an address--

Clovis, California.

So that's promising.

We can use that.

Markie was allegedly

kidnapped back in July.

So I want to see what was

going on on her Facebook page

back then.

Okay, here we go.

July 4th.

>> Whoa.

>> Whoa.

>> Yeah, look at that one--

all caps.

>> "Does anyone know where

Markie is or could be?

She was supposed to be

home yesterday.

Please contact me

with what you know."

>> So that was July 4th.

>> Then July 5th--

"Markie is still missing.

If you know anything,

please message me."

And then two days later,

"I love you, Markie,

and I'm glad you're safe."

>> So by the 7th, she's safe.

>> And then here's Blaire's

post on the 10th.

"Call me. I need to know

what's going on asap, please,"

because she was supposed to fly

out on the 11th.

>> Yeah.

So Blaire's freaking out.

>> Look, on the 14th,

she changed her profile picture.

But this was the exact time that

she was apparently not okay.

She had just been kidnapped,

held hostage, and now

in a mental institution.

>> Right.

>> This is weird.

>> Whoa.

And look what someone said.

>> "I guess this thread

is for telling lies."

And then who liked that?

>> Markie liked it.

>> That's pretty weird.

Look, here's another comment

on this picture.

Christopher [bleep].

So here's a guy that seems

to know her.

See what his deal is.

He went to Clovis too,

and he's from Fresno.

>> Yep, lives in Fresno.

Let's send this guy a message.

All right, let's just go back

to where we were, because

there was a lot going on

at the beginning of December,

including this, which is--

>> Alex [bleep].

Is that a guy?

>> December 6th.

Wait a sec.

I think we need to reach out

to this guy.

>> Do it.

What if you go to the Instagram

account?

Whoa.

Look at these pictures.

>> Yeah, okay, look at her.

>> What does this say?

"I'm a terrifying person.

I'm not normal.

The numerous things I could tell

you I've done are very scary,

and I like it.

#scary, #terrifying,

#crazy, #troubled."

>> I don't know what this is,

man.

We could be dealing with a very

troubled individual.

[cell phone rings]

Oh, shoot.

>> Oh, wait, we're getting

a call.

>> Oh, my God.

>> Who is this?

>> It's from Fresno.

>> So that's legit?

>> Yeah.

Hello?

Hey, Alex, this is Nev,

and I'm here with Max,

and I'd just love to ask

you a couple questions

about your friend Markie.

Oh, okay.

>> How would you describe

Markie, in general, as a person?

Would you say she's

a compulsive liar?

>> The reason we're calling

is because there's a girl

who for a while now has been

talking to Markie

and was supposed to meet up

with her back in July when

she apparently got kidnapped.

And so I'm just wondering,

could you see her lying about

something as big as that?

Wow. Okay.

Thank you for calling us back

so quickly.

We really appreciate it.

Later, man.

>> Later.

>> Wow.

>> So we're dealing with someone

who's capable of anything.

>> Why would she go out

of her way to be so nice

and so supportive for four

or five months just to pull

the plug and break her heart?

>> She plays with people.

>> The thing that scares me

is that Blaire says she wants

to sort of finally get the truth

so she can move on,

but it's pretty clear

that Blaire still has very

strong feelings for Markie.

I don't know.

I mean, she could be playing

a very dark, twisted game.

>> All right, let's pick up

where we left off.

It seems very likely that Markie

is who she appears to be.

>> But she twists the truth.

>> She might just be

a compulsive liar.

[cell phone chimes]

>> Oh, oh, oh.

What'd you get?

>> It says, "Hey, Nev.

Sorry I didn't get your message

till late at night, but, yeah,

give me a call."

Doesn't say who it is.

Let's give 'em a call.

[line trilling]

Yeah, hello, this is Nev.

Who is this?

Oh, hey, Chris.

Thanks for getting back to me.

Are you in the same class

with a girl named Markie?

>> A switchblade?

>> Wow.

Does she get into trouble a lot?

Did anything, like, crazy

happen to her last summer?

Was there ever an explanation

that you got about

what happened?

Do you happen to know if she's

dating anybody right now?

That's all really helpful.

Appreciate it.

>> Okay.

>> Whoa, okay.

>> There's a lot going on

in both of these girls' lives.

Still, why would she go

out of her way to save Blaire

and then--

>> And not video chat with her?

>> Right.

>> I think we need to go

talk to Blaire, and see

what she wants to do next.

>> *Love child *

* Love child of delusion

* Love child of confusion

* Oh

>> What's up, guys?

>> Come on in.

>> Come here, little man.

Oh, yeah.

>> Say hi.

>> Papa Nev.

>> There you go.

>> both: Hi.

>> I'm Terah. Nice to meet you.

>> Hey, Terah.

So this is your sister's kid?

>> Mm-hmm, yeah.

I've had him since he was

three months old.

>> How did you guys meet?

Was there, like, any chemistry,

or was it more just friendship?

>> No, just to have somebody,

'cause at that point, you know--

>> Just for the companionship?

>> Yeah.

>> Mm-hmm.

>> Where are you guys now?

>> Do you have a job?

>> Um, no, not yet.

>> How do you guys afford

anything or pay for food--

>> With what I have.

>> Which is almost gone.

>> Yeah.

>> You guys are in a pretty

tough situation.

>> We make it work, though.

>> Why do you think you ended

up sharing a motel room

and raising a kid?

>> It's what I've been missing

my whole life, is having

people around you.

>> Oh, a family.

>> both: Yeah.

>> It sounds like you--

>> That's what we are.

>> Why don't we talk to Blaire

about everything that we found

yesterday...

>> Okay.

>> Figure things out?

>> I'm gonna go to my mom's,

so...

>> both: All right.

>> For the most part,

what we found were the things

you already knew.

She's got her Facebook page.

She's got an Instagram.

Pictures seem to be her.

This girl seems pretty legit.

We searched her phone number,

and the number came back

registered to this address.

Have you ever seen that address?

>> No.

>> The next thing we did was we

went back to her Facebook page,

and we were just curious to see

what was going on around

the time that she got kidnapped,

and we found some people close

to her that were involved.

One of them was this guy Alex.

>> I think that's her ex.

>> Yeah.

>> He said she would lie

about everything.

The next person we heard back

from was this guy Chris.

>> One of the first things

he told us was that she had just

gotten suspended from school

for bringing a switchblade.

>> Oh, boy.

>> He remembers hearing

about this kidnapping,

but that it turned out

she just sort of ran away

because she wanted attention.

>> Like, if you wanted

attention, come to New York.

You'll get all the attention

you want.

>> The only other thing

that Chris told us was that she

was dating some girl.

>> Mm-hmm.

>> He said at school, she video

Skypes with her, like, every

day, all day long.

>> I have asked her

so many times.

That just pisses me off.

>> So then we were just

cruising through her Instagram,

and, actually, this jumped out

at us.

She wrote, "I am a terrifying

person.

The numerous things I could tell

you I've done are scary,

and I like it.

#terrifying, #crazy, #troubled."

>> Wow.

Like, that just makes me think,

"You brought me out of this dark

place to put me back there,

'cause that's what you enjoy

doing."

>> Maybe she's there.

>> * When you've withered *

* Into nothing

* 'Cause your lover's *

* Done you wrong

>> We're dealing with someone

who for years now is dealing

with some very dark,

troubling demons.

>> Yeah, I have no idea

who this person is.

>> The only way we're gonna

get any closer to the truth

than we are sitting here

is to try and meet this girl.

>> She's got the answers.

>> * It's all *

* We can do

>> The only way we're gonna

get any closer to the truth

than we are sitting here is

to try and connect with Markie,

find out if she wants

to meet up.

>> Yeah.

>> All right, so I'm gonna give

her a call.

>> Okay.

[line trilling]

>> Hi, is this Markie?

This is Nev from the show

Catfish.

I am in Texas with Blaire.

Yeah, we're down here because

she never got a chance to meet

you, so she thought maybe we

could help make that happen.

Is meeting Blaire something

that you want to do?

>> There's so much to be angry

about and so much to be

thankful for.

It's like she was the only one

that, like...

cared, I guess.

>> We would fly up there

tomorrow.

You need to appreciate

that Blaire...

has a lot of drama

in her life also.

If you maybe aren't in

a good place, that could be

really bad for her.

She's very vulnerable right now.

We'll see you really soon.

Hey.

So I asked Markie

if she wants to meet you.

She said she does.

She's freaking out,

but she'll do it.

It's definitely not a guarantee

that we can count on, but...

>> I hope so.

>> We can definitely try.

>> I need answers,

and I need them, like, now.

I just want to know why you

put someone through your hell

that you're living.

Why drag someone down with you?

>> Right.

>> * Would you bleed for me?

>> Off to Cali.

>> What are you thinking about?

>> If I do see her, like,

what am I gonna do?

Do I thank you, or do I,

like, curse you out first?

>> * But I've got my mind *

* Made up this time

* 'Cause there's a menace *

* In my bed

* Can you see his silhouette?

* Can you see his silhouette?

* Can you see his silhouette?

* And light a cigarette

* Set a fire in my head

* Tonight, tonight, tonight

[line trilling]

>> Come on.

Uh-oh.

That's a lot of rings.

>> It's my favorite game,

waiting for a text to come back.

>> I know.

>> Well, let's just see

how Blaire is doing.

>> Good morning.

>> Hey.

>> Morning.

>> Have you heard from Markie?

>> I texted her that, like,

I can't believe I'm here.

>> Did she respond to that?

>> She was like, "Yay."

>> We tried calling her

to find out where and when

we can meet up.

I don't think she's written

back yet.

>> Should I try calling her?

>> Yeah.

I just don't want her

to disappear.

[line trilling]

>> This is annoying.

Come on.

She knows we're here.

This is the pattern.

>> Right.

We're here.

We have an address.

I think we could hit

the streets, get some coffee

and doughnuts, and do

an old-fashioned...

>> Stakeout.

>> both: Stakeout.

>> I'm totally game with it.

>> Let's go fishing

for this catfish.

>> Reel her in.

>> Reel her in.

Let's find this girl.

>> Markie's here.

We know she's here, somewhere.

>> We're on the hunt.

>> All right, well, the address

we're going to is pretty close.

Oh, man, this place is coming

up pretty quick.

Here's the turn and then--

Okay, wait a second.

So this address is, like,

not a residential area.

>> Nowhere, no.

>> It doesn't look like it.

And this is, like, a strip mall.

So that's not--

Okay.

So this is not it, obviously.

>> This is the strip mall

where she doesn't live.

>> I'm just getting pissed off.

Like, this is just...

>> At this point, if she's not

gonna get back to us, I think

we should just try to find her

by doing whatever it takes.

>> I've, like, seen pictures

of her house.

So, like, if I saw it,

I'd know that that was it.

>> Can you describe it,

or is it more just sort of

imprinted in your memory?

>> I just remember it was

on a turn.

I think her dad drives

a red pickup truck.

So there's, like, a truck

in the driveway.

>> That's something.

Go to her Instagram.

Has she ever posted a picture

of her house?

>> No.

>> Does she have the maps thing?

If you go to the top--

go back to the top.

>> Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.

Go to the top.

>> Has she geo tagged anything?

Yeah, yeah, click on those.

Yeah, yeah, here we go.

Look, we got some geo tags.

>> Smart, smart.

>> Whoa.

Look, a couple locations pop up.

Got her.

We're gonna get her

from the geo tag.

>> The geo tag.

>> This one was taken

in her house, and that was

her birthday.

So this is--

>> Where--

>> Bam, what is it?

What's the address?

>> What's that street?

That's--

>> West [bleep].

>> [bleep] , Max.

>> We got it!

>> We're gonna turn around,

guys.

>> Flip it, Nev, flip it.

Just go over this median.

>> Oh, man, we are hot

on the trail.

All right, so here's the corner.

>> Is it this one?

>> This is the corner.

>> So it's that house.

>> Or it's that one.

>> No, no, it's that one,

right there on the corner.

>> Yeah.

>> That's it, right there.

>> Oh, my God.

Like, this is really happening.

>> Keep in mind that she's

probably more nervous

and freaked out than you are.

>> Yeah.

>> Unless she comes--

Oh, is that the red--

Oh, look...

>> That's her dad.

>> The red truck--

it's coming home.

>> Oh, my God, is that her dad?

>> That's her dad.

>> You recognized him?

>> That was her dad.

>> Whoa.

Well, then we should go

right now.

>> Yeah.

>> Let's just do it.

[Blaire sighs]

>> Get some frantic...

All right, well, I'm just gonna

ring this bell.

Let's cross over.

I'm not sure if that did

anything.

>> My heart is racing right now.

>> I can't see in that window.

Can you see in that window?

I don't know.

>> [exhales deeply]

>> I don't see anyone inside.

>> I don't know.

My heart's racing, though.

Hi.

>> Hello.

>> Hey, good afternoon.

How you doing?

>> Good, how are you?

>> I'm Nev Schulman.

Pleasure to meet you.

>> Okay, I'm Mark.

>> We are looking for--

or hoping to speak

with your daughter.

>> Markie, or--

>> Yes, Markie.

>> Okay.

>> We spoke to her yesterday.

>> Mm-hmm.

>> Told her we were coming,

and we're trying to get

in touch with her.

We're unable to.

>> Uh, yeah, she went with some

friends yesterday, and I haven't

seen her since, so...

>> Oh, as in, she hasn't been

home since then?

>> Right.

>> Oh.

>> Can I, like, walk away?

I just feel so stupid.

[scoffs] Gone again.

>> Markie explained everything

that was going on.

>> She told you about it?

>> Yes.

>> She told you about Blaire,

her friend in New York?

>> Mm-hmm.

>> Okay.

>> Like, this just went to,

like, I might give you a hug

to now, like...

>> If you speak to her...

>> Mm-hmm.

>> Or send her a text, just let

her know we stopped by.

>> Okay.

>> We're looking--we're waiting

for her to let us know when

and where to meet up with her.

>> Okay.

>> Thanks.

>> No problem.

>> Appreciate it.

>> My pleasure.

>> Take care.

>> You guys be good.

>> This is stupid.

>> I mean, if you have to chase

someone this much just to meet

'em, then they might not be

worth meeting.

>> * 'Cause you've been *

* Acting strange

* Now I'm in your veins *

* You don't know what *

* You're running from *

>> You want to call her again?

She always wants to be

in control.

>> Hey, guys, sorry I couldn't

answer your phone call.

>> So just say, like...

>> We're here.

>> "You weren't here.

We're leaving."

[beep]

>> Markie, it's Blaire.

You're not here, so I think

we're just gonna go, 'cause

I'm not chasing this anymore.

>> * Pictures out the frame

* Nothing left to blame

* Don't waste your love *

* Don't waste your love *

* Don't waste your love away *

>> People can only mess with you

and upset you as much

as you'll let them.

So, for the moment, let's make

the best of it.

Let's just wait an hour

or something and see if

she reaches out.

All right, we're gonna go

to a park.

>> I just wish the games

would end.

>> There doesn't seem to be

any way to win.

So, at a certain point,

you just got to say,

"I'm done playing this game."

[cell phone rings]

Oh, [bleep].

>> Hello?

>> Hey, I'm sitting here

with the guys.

Yeah, we've been looking for you

all day.

Where are you?

Okay.

>> We are at Wood--Woodford Park

or something.

>> Yeah, Woodward.

Yeah.

Great.

See you soon.

>> I mean, she could have

said "sorry."

>> Right, it would have been

great if she had been

considerate and texted.

I'm just saying.

Let's not scare her off.

>> We'll see if she gets lost

on the way here.

>> Okay.

>> Not okay.

It's not okay.

>> Oh, jeez, Louise.

>> [sighs]

>> Here's a truck.

>> Is that her?

>> Yeah.

>> All right.

Well, she showed up.

>> You okay?

>> Yeah.

>> Nice to meet you.

>> Nice to meet you too.

>> Nev.

>> Nice to meet you.

Markie.

>> Wow.

>> Well, you're very excited.

>> I'm very, very excited.

I'm trying not to, like, jump

into her arms and plow her down

to the floor.

>> It's not exactly the reaction

that I expected.

>> Yeah, if anything, we've been

kind of ready for--

>> The worst?

>> I mean, look, we all want

to be excited, obviously,

but I just want to, like,

get some things

out of the way first.

>> Of course.

>> Do you guys want to go sit

down at that table in the shade?

>> So, okay, from what we

gathered from Blaire's story

was that you didn't come

to New York, and then she got

a strange phone call from you,

like, a couple days afterwards

saying that you were

in a hospital of some kind

and that you weren't gonna come

and you were still in love

with your ex-girlfriend

and that it was over.

>> I never got answers.

I never got reasons,

and that's all I want--is why.

>> So I was 17, and...

>> What?

What?

>> He persuaded me to go

with him because of issues

that would happen in New York

that he saw.

>> He saw issues?

How could he--

>> Who's "he"?

>> I don't get this.

>> Is he an ex of yours?

>> No.

>> So I don't know who she--just

"he"?

>> It's a very private

situation.

I can't really let out names.

What had happened was I had

a dream that I went to New York

and I died.

And I told him about the dream,

and he told me that if I didn't

go and repent my sins,

I guess--I don't know.

He didn't make it clear,

but he told me pretty much

if I didn't confess everything

to him, I would die in New York.

And so that pushed me

to the limit as to where I felt

like I needed to go...

for you, for me, for my family,

so I could stay alive.

>> I mean, were you--were you,

like, far away in the middle

of nowhere?

>> I was up in the mountains.

>> Why does this person

have so much influence over you?

>> He was a close, personal

friend.

>> You don't think you could've

told this guy you needed to let

me know that you're not coming?

>> No, because he didn't want

to talk to you.

He didn't want anything

to do with you.

>> You couldn't talk to me?

>> I'm--

It's a terrible story,

and I'm sorry that I still

don't--I don't--

>> Fully understand?

>> I don't understand it.

>> I know this probably

feels like an interrogation.

I don't want it to.

But does it come as a surprise

that you have a reputation

for not telling the truth?

>> No, because I have had people

in my past say that I have

a lying problem.

But I do try my best

not to lie to Blaire.

>> But you still do it.

>> I try not to.

>> But, of course, that also

means that it's hard now for us

to know what is and isn't true.

But, I mean, are there things

that you either haven't been

honest about or just haven't

told her?

'Cause right now Blaire needs

to figure out her life,

and the only way she can know

that is to get something close

to the real you.

>> Hey, I'm Markie.

>> I'm Blaire.

>> I'm a psychotic crazy person.

I have a semi-lying problem,

and I'm absolutely in love

with you.

I want to be a part

of your life.

I want to be there for you.

I want to be the person

you can cry on.

I want to be the girl

you come home to,

and I want to be the girl

wearing your ring.

>> I'm gonna interrupt.

I feel like...

you're unbelievably smooth.

A week ago, you told her not

to keep dating the girl

she's dating because you didn't

want her to.

You know exactly what to say.

It feels like I'm listening

to a script for, like,

the perfect scene out of

the perfect movie

from the perfect guy who says

exactly the right thing

to the girl, and they walk off

happily into the sunset.

That's not how this is gonna go,

because that's the worst thing

you can do for her.

The worst thing you can do

for her right now is that.

If you care about someone,

be real with them.

>> And if she doesn't want

to be with me, she doesn't have

to be with me.

>> She does want to be with you.

That's the problem.

Because she's not good

at recognizing things

that are bad for her.

So I'm trying to help her

do that.

Now, I know you were incredibly

supportive for a period of time

that was tremendously important

for her.

So I am sure you have

a genuine connection as a

result of that.

But I just think you need

to be much more careful

with the words you choose.

It's really dangerous to say

"I love you" to someone.

"I want to spend my life

with you, even though we just

met ten minutes ago," and not

have them go into a tailspin.

You're just lying without

intentionally doing it

and giving the wrong signals

to the wrong person

and just hurting both of you.

This is the opportunity

to finally clear things up,

not complicate them more.

Anyway, I'm--I'm sorry.

I'm just trying to help.

So...

>> This episode of

Catfish: The TV Show

continues now.

>> You know I care about you.

If I didn't care about you,

why would I be sitting here?

>> I don't know.

You know the spot I was at,

and then for you to just

basically fall off the face

of the Earth, like, why?

You were all I had at that time.

You were the only one I had.

All you had to do was say,

"I'm scared."

And you know that's why

you didn't come...

'cause you were scared.

That's why you got--

whatever happened.

>> I was scared.

You're right, but that doesn't

mean I wasn't gonna bail out on

you.

>> You kind of did, though,

if you think about it.

So, yeah, you did bail out on

me.

I spent my last penny to get you

to New York...

'cause you were what I had.

The simple two words,

"I'm scared."

>> I don't really want

you to leave.

I don't want you to leave

at all.

>> Then be honest.

Be honest with me.

You're such a smart person.

You have so much to offer

the world, but if you would cut

the lies out, I think a lot

more people would see that.

Like, I don't know.

I'm angry, and I'm hurt,

and I'm--I'm--

Ugh.

>> Then let me make things

right.

>> I don't know what...

I want to trust you so bad.

How?

I was crazy about you.

So why [bleep] that up?

I mean, if you feel so strongly

about me, why do it?

>> I do want to be a part

of your life.

I do, and I've told you

that multiple times.

>> I need stability in my life.

I cannot have someone

that's gonna be here one day

and gone the next.

I can't deal with liars anymore.

So, if you want to be a part of

my life, the lies need to stop.

Every word out of your mouth

has to be truthful.

That's where this is gonna start

as a new friendship,

and I'm totally willing

to do that, 'cause I don't want

to lose someone that has

brought me out of a hole.

It's freezing.

I'm freezing.

So you want to head back?

[sighs]

>> Good talk?

>> Yeah.

>> I hope so.

>> I hope we didn't get off

on the wrong foot.

Take it as a sign of endearment

that I see a lot of me in you.

>> Thank you.

>> I want the best for you.

I really do.

>> Thank you.

>> Bye.

It's all right.

Bye.

>> * I want to make it right

>> Whoa.

What are you feeling?

>> I feel fresh...

like a lot of stuff just got

off my shoulders.

I mean, there's still feelings

there, but it's not what it was,

and I don't think it could be.

And I need to be able to do

for me as I do for others,

'cause I just haven't been happy

in such a long time.

It's time for me to make

myself happy.

I think this is a start to that.

>> * I follow soon

* I follow soon

* I follow

* Oh

[line ringing]

>> Hey, Markie.

What's the sort of current state

of your friendship with Blaire?

>> We're actually

doing really well.

We talk almost every day.

>> Do you feel like maybe now

you have permission to be

a little bit more honest

and genuine?

>> Yeah, I have, and I'm really

proud of myself for being honest

because we're getting back

to being really close together.

It feels good to be honest

with her.

>> What's your plan

after high school?

>> All right.

>> Congratulations.

>> We're gonna check in

with Blaire, but it was really

nice talking to you, and

hopefully we'll talk again soon.

>> Okay.

>> Bye, Markie.

>> Blaire!

>> Hey!

>> What's up?

>> What up?

>> Nothing.

I'm headed to Florida next

weekend.

>> Wait.

>> What's going on?

>> What?

>> Me and Terah kind of parted

ways, I guess, for now.

She's staying in Texas

with her girlfriend,

and I got my apartment

in Florida.

>> Wow.

>> Katarina is coming down.

>> And then you're gonna

go together to Florida?

>> Yeah, I'm excited.

>> What's going on

with Ja'Kayden?

>> He is coming back to Florida

with me, and I'm getting legal

guardianship over him.

>> You are?

>> Yeah.

>> Wow.

>> Your life just keeps on

changing.

>> Yeah, I'm excited.

>> And you're still talking

to Markie?

>> Yeah, I actually Skyped

with her yesterday.

>> All right, well, cool.

I'm excited for you.

>> Thank you guys so much.

>> Good luck, Blaire.

>> Bye.

>> both: Bye.

>> This kid could throw

his whole life away for a girl

he doesn't even know.

>> I'm gonna be that guy

that had his mom on Catfish.

>> 'Cause my mind's going crazy

about what this secret could be.

>> Here we go.
