Blue Gender (1999–2000): Season 1, Episode 6 - Relation - full transcript

Marlene and Yuji now travel on foot towards Baikonur Space Base. The tensions between the two come to a head, as Yuji confronts the demons that now haunt him in this nightmarish new world.

for you to go on living.

Are you worn out? You
seem to have a bit of a fever.

Take this.

You'll feel a little better.

How many days now
has it been since then?

In order to avoid contact
with the Blue, Marlene and I

have detoured around
the urban areas...

Headed for Baikonur,
near Moscow,

we've done nothing but travel these
highlands, surrounded by all of nature.

What is it that's annoying you?

Is it what happened in Seoul?

There was nothing else
I could do about that.

You must have
realized that much.

Yet after promising I would
protect her no matter what...

I couldn't save
even Yung alone...

You can't seriously think
something could have come of that.

You and I survived.
That's enough.

"Enough," you say?

That's right!

As long as Marlene and
me, her Sample, are all right,

then anything that happens to the
people still alive here is okay, isn't it!?

But what about Joey and Robert!?

Your own people have died, yet
you think nothing of that!? Huh!?

I took the best
measures I could think of.

As a result, even if it means losing people,
it's unavoidable in strategic operations.

A dead person
does not come home.

Do not get hung up on
what has already passed.

Now that you know, let's go.

If we don't reach Baikonur by the
deadline, we will be abandoned too.

I'm just saying, how can
you so easily accept all this!?

And after everyone has
died on account of us! How!?

You were in love with
Joey, weren't you?

...Love?

I mean, otherwise
you wouldn't...

I saw you, the
other night, Marlene.

You and Joey,
just the two of you.

So, what about it?

Huh?

I was only acting the way I felt like acting
at the time. I had no special feelings.

You can't... that would mean...!

By tomorrow...

no, like this, it could
be only several seconds,

this body could become
just a lump of flesh.

What is wrong with trying to
feel alive now with this body?

W- well that's... even so...

Don't think too much
about the unnecessary.

This is what it's
like to live here.

H- hey, what are you...

Don't fuss.

The temperature is
going to drop even further.

Unless you want to
die, listen to what I say.

H- hey...

I told you not to fuss.

Don't make this more
difficult. Even I am worn out.

What is wrong with trying to
feel alive now with this body?

By tomorrow... no, like this, it
could be only several seconds,

this body could become
just a lump of flesh.

Where am I? What
are you doing with me!?

Stop! Don't go!

I wish Yung could go to
sleep for a long time, too.

When you're asleep, even
the Blue aren't scary, right?

No! Yung!!

We don't even know when
the disease will manifest.

Huh?

Why don't the two of us
go, someplace far from here?

Eh?

Mister, there's something
different about you.

Mm?

Blue...

Anyhow, we're talking ten
or twenty years here, right?

You're nothing more than one of
the Samples we happened to recover.

It is my duty to bring
you back with me.

As a result, even if it
means losing people...

If ever someone says
they have a friend...

they would mean
someone like you...

Dead people don't come home.

You would have rather died?

Dammit, dammit, dammit...!

Don't think too much
about the unnecessary.

This is what it's
like to live here.

Even so...

I'm alive, right?

Marlene!

Marlene! Marlene!

Are you okay?

Aren't you the terribly
strong one today?

I couldn't stand being turned into a
human dumpling, not able to do anything.

I'm not really sure what
it is to be living here.

But the truth is,
I am alive now.

And in the world I'm from, it's only
natural for men to save women, you see.

Women?

Huh?

Only natural?

T- that is...

Anyhow, I've decided to
do whatever it is I want to do.

That's okay, isn't it?

Well, let's go! If we dawdle
around, we'll be abandoned, right?

We've made it
this far, haven't we?

I made a promise to someone.

When I opened my eyes, the two of
us would go off somewhere far away...

A friend, named Takashi.

Anyway, I don't suppose he would have ever
thought I'd come to a place like this, huh?

I wish I could have
shown this to him, too.

I know! If he's gone into
space, he might still be alive.

Yeah! In that case, we can just
come here again, the two of us!

So I can't die, can I? Not
yet. Isn't that right, Marlene?

Marlene?

Unfortunately, I don't think so.

Not even a hundred million people
were able to flee to space. What's more,

in order to prepare to fight
the Blue that were to come,

the segment of people who excelled
in mind and body were given priority.

By chance, I was placed on
the Second Earth selection list,

and picked up by a rescue
squad when I was about 10.

When I came around,
my family wasn't there.

A blazing fire and
lumps of flesh...

I don't have any other memories.

When the Blue appeared,
nobody took them seriously.

They thought that there couldn't
be anything living in this world

that could threaten mankind...

However, the
reality was different.

They would kill them again and
again, but the Blue kept growing.

Mankind tried using every conceivable
modern weapon against them,

and by their own hand, enveloped
the earth in crimson flames.

Which is why I can only observe this view,
and the whole land, as if it were burning.

Marlene...

The only things I can remember are
what came after I entered that dark,

greasy-smelling
pilot training facility.

All I had to do was submit
myself to the hatred of Blue.

Operating the Armor Shrikes...

...target practice...

...hand-to-hand techniques...

...mission simulations...

I was taught everything
I would need to live here.

Yes...

Every imaginable thing...

Don't make that kind of face!

This is a ritual to
keep you from dying!

It's a joyous ceremony, such
that once you reach the battlefield

and are attacked by Blue,
you're certain to come back alive!

...Alive...

Alive...

Marlene?

Are you still going to go?

Together with me?

I thought I told you. I am going
to act the way I want to act.

Marlene, no matter what
you say, I believe you.

So let's go. If we don't go
there, surely nothing will begin!

Let's go. Together,
to Second Earth!

Alive!

Alive?

Yeah, you're right.

Let's go.

Alive...

Marlene!

Hey, wait up!

Marlene!!
