Sing On! Germany (2020): Season 1, Episode 7 - Filmhits - full transcript

A NETFLIX ORIGINAL SERIES

I'm Palina Rojinski. This is Sing on!

A karaoke battle, six contestants,
and a lot of money.

The person who wants to take
the money home has one job to do:

hit the right notes.

CATHRIN
BUSINESSWOMAN

TIM
SOCIAL WORKER

LAURA
MUSIC STUDENT

REBECCA
BUSINESS ADMINISTRATOR

YAGMUR
APPRENTICE

JUAN
SALESMAN AND MODEL

If there was an Oscar
for the best contestants,

the best audience, and of course,
the best live band in the world,

you'd have it in the bag.

Today, six fresh candidates
are battling again

to win a jackpot of up to 30,000 euros.

€30,000

Every correct note will bring in money,

but only the winner will take it home
at the end.

I'm not the one who decides
which note was correct.

It's up to the one that hears it all...

our vocal analyzer.

After each round,

one contestant unfortunately
has to leave the competition.

Only the person who comes closest
to the original song

is safe for the next round.

But now let's meet tonight's stars:

our six singers.

Yes.

-Laura.
-Hello.

Your beautiful blue hair
immediately caught my attention.

Is it always blue? Is this your trademark?

Or did you dye it just for our show,
to match the studio?

No, not just for the show.

Lately, it's been my trademark.
I've had it this way for about two years.

Oh, wow.

Rebecca,

you are a business administrator.

What would your co-workers say
if they saw you on the show?

I think at first, they would be surprised,

because they've never seen me
on stage before.

But I think they would cheer me on
and keep their fingers crossed for me.

This will be a surprise then.

We'll come back
and meet the rest of you later,

but now let's start with our first battle.

The different parts of the song

are assigned randomly,

so everyone has to be prepared
at all times.

And what would be a better-fitting song
to start off with

than an Oscar-nominated song
from the movie The Greatest Showman?

Precisely!

None other.

So that's why we're starting
with "This Is Me"

worth 5,000 euros.

Is everyone ready?

Pay close attention!

Start the music.

Sing on!

EVERYONE

That was the first hit movie song,
and your performance was Oscar-worthy.

So, a maximum of 5,000 euros was at stake.

How much money did you end up banking?

A whopping 2,700 euros!

€2,700

And with 73% correct notes,

the person safe for the next round is...

Juan!

What?

Dear Juan,

you can definitely stay
for the next round.

How do you feel?

I'm happy! I'm not out in the first round!

But...

unfortunately, someone else has to leave.

You must determine among yourselves
who that will be.

Please vote now.

For you at home, dear viewers,
here is the ranking again.

Who will they nominate?

Someone who banked too little money

or a strong competitor

in the battle for the jackpot?

Juan, you're guaranteed
to go to the next round,

so we'll ask you first.

Who did you choose?

Who should leave after this first round?

I voted...

for Yagmur.

YAGMUR
1 VOTE

It's okay.

Dear Yagmur, who did you choose?

Rebecca, I picked you,

because...

I just picked who I thought
was the strongest singer.

Sweet.

Dear Rebecca, who did you choose?

I voted for Yagmur...

YAGMUR
2 VOTES

...because I think she gave
the worst performance out of everyone.

All right.

Dear Cathrin, who did you choose?

I picked Tim,

because I think he is the weakest link
out of all of us.

Okay. And as you know, you're just
as strong as your weakest link.

So, Yagmur got two votes,
Rebecca and Tim each got one.

Tim, who did you vote for?

I voted for Cathrin...

CATHRIN
1 VOTE

because of a timing error,

-the only mistake I heard in the song.
-Yes.

You're right.

-Yes. Okay.
-Yes.

Dear Laura,

who did you choose?

I also chose Cathrin for the same reason.

CATHRIN
2 VOTES

Okay.

We have a tie in the first round

between Cathrin and Yagmur.

They each got two votes.

And that's why we'll now ask
our vocal analyzer.

It listened closely

and knows who hit
the least amount of notes.

And that person is...

Yagmur.

That's all right.

-Unfortunately, you're out.
-Thank you anyway.

Please take your mic with you.
It was great to have you here!

Thank you, and please,
a round of applause for Yagmur!

So, today you're singing
the greatest movie hits of all time,

and award shows go hand in hand
with movies.

That's why I'm happy to be able to present
my very own Palina Performance Prize.

This prize is worth 500 euros.

And these 500 euros will stay with you.

They will not be added to the jackpot.

When I heard our next song
in the movie theater,

I was crying relentlessly.

Actually, I was crying
through the whole movie,

and before I start crying again just
by thinking about it, I'll make it short.

Next you will sing from A Star is Born

"Shallow" by Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper.

There you go. Sing on!

EVERYONE

I'm completely moved.

It was really beautiful. Need I say more?

No.

With "Shallow," together,
you banked another...

3,800 euros!

And the jackpot now stands
at a whopping...

6,500 euros!

€6,500

And the most money was banked by someone

with a score of 85%...

Yep!

And so, without a doubt,
safe for the next round is...

Laura.

Really?

Thank you.

The Palina Performance Prize
should be awarded wisely,

and I was just overcome with emotion.

That's why I'll wait until the next round

so I can see clearly.

So, please vote now for who you think...

should leave now.

As a small reminder for you at home,

this is how the contestants scored.

Laura, who did you choose?

I chose Rebecca...

because I thought...

she sang the worst. Sorry.

Rebecca, who did you choose?

I picked Cathrin

because I heard a mistake

and I thought she was the weakest singer

-in this round.
-Okay.

Cathrin?

I chose Rebecca...

because I also thought
she was the weakest in this round.

Tim, who did you vote for?

I picked Cathrin.

Two, two. Okay.

Why?

Because I heard a wrong note.

-Yeah.
-Juan...

your vote could make the decision.

Who did you choose?

I also chose based on performance,

and in my opinion...

it didn't work for Rebecca.

REBECCA
3 VOTES

Rebecca.

So unfortunately, Rebecca is eliminated.

-Thank you for being here.
-Thank you.

Please take your mic with you!

Dear contestants, you eliminated someone

with a very high score...

81%.

Let's get back to our film hits.

From now on,
there is Double Money at stake.

Each song...

can bring you up to 10,000 euros
in the jackpot.

And the Palina Performance Prize
is still in the game.

So, just a reminder.

Tim, if you won the jackpot,
what would you do with the money?

-I'm going to be a father soon, so...
-Wow!

Congratulations!

-It could come in handy.
-Absolutely.

So...

Our first Double Money song

is by a band
that doesn't need anymore money.

I'm talking about ABBA and "Mamma Mia"...

from the movie with the same title,
Mamma Mia.

You know the drill.

Sing on!

EVERYONE

EVERYONE

As far as I'm concerned,
ABBA can stay retired.

You did as great as they did!

I picked someone

who I'd like to award the Palina
Performance Prize to, worth 500 euros,

because that person totally convinced me.

I would like to give my award to Rebecca.

Oh, my God.

You filled up the jackpot nicely
by adding...

7,000 euros!

That's quite a lot.

Now the jackpot is at 13,500 euros.

€13,500

With 76%

of notes hit...

I have to add, it was very close,

because we also have another singer
with 76% of notes hit...

This means we had to look
at the digit after the decimal point

to see, who hit the notes slightly better.

And this person is...

Juan.

Thank you!

It's the second time you're guaranteed
to go on to the next round.

Yes!

As a successful model,

I assume you have a stylish apartment.

Unfortunately not, no.

I still live with my mommy.

Okay.

But yeah, it would be nice
to have my own apartment,

and then after 27 years,
maybe it will work out with a guy.

Nice.

Unfortunately,
there's two sides to the coin.

One person can advance, one has to leave.

Dear contestants, please decide now.

As a small reminder for you at home,

this is how the contestants scored.

Juan.

Who did you choose?

Unfortunately, I chose Cathrin.

Cathrin?

Okay, Cathrin,

Who did you choose? Who should go?

I chose Tim,

because I didn't think
his overall performance was very strong.

Tim, who did you choose?

I voted for Cathrin, because...

Again?

Tim, this is the third time
you're voting for Cathrin.

Yes, but the other singers were stronger.

Okay. Laura.

I voted for Tim.

And with that, we have a tie

between Cathrin and Tim.

That means that the person
who hit the least amount of notes

has lost the battle.

As always, the vocal analyzer
listened carefully and calculated.

The person who has to leave now is...

Cathrin.

I feel so silly for crying.

You've done great.

Stay with us and sing on.

Thank you. One more round of applause
for Cathrin, please!

Our next song includes...

Golden Notes.

If you hit the Golden Note

and can hold it till the very end,

you'll win 1,000 euros right away.

These 1,000 euros are yours to keep.
They will not be added to the jackpot.

But the person who hits
the least amount of notes in this round

is automatically out of the competition.

Which notes?

Those of Adele's "Skyfall".

Yep!

Start the music and sing on!

EVERYONE

All three of you hit the Golden Notes!

Tim, Juan,

and Laura.

For most people, it's almost impossible,
but just wow...

We have 3,000 euros to award to you.

And the jackpot climbed
from 13,500 euros to...

a fantastic 20,350 euros!

€20,350

Take a deep breath.

We're getting close to the final round.

But we're still one too many.

Unfortunately, the one who hit
the least amount of notes

can only watch the final.

The least amount of notes hit
during "Skyfall"...

with only a difference of two percent...

-Laura.
-It's okay.

Dear Laura, thanks for being here.

You won 1,000 euros.

I hope you have fun
with the girls on the balcony.

A round of applause for Laura!

So, boys! Come on over here.

Now it's time for the grand finale,

the showdown.

One of you was a little bit closer
to the original song in the last round

and can now pick
the final song of the evening.

It is...

Juan.

Oh, boy.

Dear Juan, you must now choose
between two legendary songs.

The first song is known
by every person on the planet,

and the second one even more so.

The first song is...

"What A Feeling" from Flashdance.

And the second song
is from the movie Bodyguard.

"I Will Always Love You"
by Whitney Houston.

Juan, two incredibly beautiful

but also incredibly difficult songs.

Which one would you like to sing?

I think I'd like to end
with a more beautiful final,

which would be "I Will Always Love You".

Tim, which one would you have chosen?

If it's about a beautiful song, I would
have also chosen "I Will Always Love You".

-It's beautiful.
-Are you feeling good about it?

I have mixed feelings.

Why?

It's a tough song.

-Challenging, huh?
-Yes, a challenging song.

Okay. I'll step aside now

and wish you both lots of luck

in winning the 20,350 euros
in the jackpot.

This is our final.

Dear Tim, good luck.

Dear Juan, good luck.

And sing on!

Dear viewers,
this time you won't see the scores.

Thank you.

FINAL

EVERYONE

What a moment.

Guys, come over here,

because all of you
have added to the jackpot.

What did you think of the boys?

-Very good.
-Very good.

Juan,

you won three rounds.

But now only the final result counts.

The winner...

of the 20,350 euros is...

Tim!

Come here.

-Congratulations.
-Thank you.

Plus 1,000 euros from the Golden Note.

What will you buy for your child?

There's still a lot missing.

A crib is still missing... Yeah.
A lot is still missing.

-Perfect for you to take home the money.
-It's absolutely perfect.

Juan, congratulations to you as well.
It was so nice with you.

1,000 euros are yours.

-A round of applause for Juan, please.
-Thank you.

And, of course, for the best live band
in the world!

I'm Palina Rojinski, and this was Sing On!
