Naked and Afraid: Last One Standing (2023–…): Season 1, Episode 10 - Down to the Fire - full transcript

Torrential rainstorms jeopardize the contestants' chance to remain in the competition; they must kindle a primitive campfire, pushing the survivalists past their breaking point; in a neck-and-neck battle, the winner is finally cro...

[woman] This is different.

[man] This is something
we've never done before.

[man] You gotta watch your back

for not just the
animals this time,

but for the other survivalists.

[man] Run!

[screams]

[grunts]

[narrator] For
the first time ever,

12 of Naked and Afraid's
most skilled survivalists

are competing head-to-head

for 45 days

in the South African bush.

Woo! [laughs]

[narrator] To crown
the best of the best...

Yeah!

[narrator] and win $100,000.

This is what I live for!

[narrator] Failure
means elimination.

[man] This challenge is so real.

[narrator] Who will be
the Last One Standing?

[dramatic music playing]

[narrator] Previously
on Last One Standing.

-[Gary] Waz? Hurry!
-[Waz] Yup?

[Steven] You know,
you guys better hurry.

[Gary] Keep talking.

[Steven] You better
hurry real damn fast.

[narrator] The
survivalists competed

for crucial hidden catches

in zone five.

-[Jeff speaking]
-[man] Yeah.

[narrator] But
despite Jeff's attempts

to deceive his opponents...

As I walked around,

I tossed feathers

on random trails

and create paths
that lead to nowhere.

[narrator] Steven steps up

and tracks down
a major food score.

Here we go.

Woo!

Look at that goose, baby!

[narrator] A critical
elimination challenge

tested the
competitors' bushcraft...

[man] It's a
transporting water race.

[narrator] and navigation skill.

[Gary] Can't say I'm sure
I know where I'm going.

[narrator] With two
legends battling to the end.

[man] I have no idea
if Matt has finished.

[man] You got this, Matt.

-[man] Do it quick.
-There's one skull.

-Run in, run in.
-Yeah, Matt.

[sighs]

[Matt] I'm pretty positive

I probably ripped
something in my leg.

[man] Oh, it's hard to see

someone you consider family

go out like that.

[groans]

-Love you, man.
-[Matt] Love you, guys.

[narrator] Now with just five
elite survivalists remaining,

and only two elimination
challenges left,

it's time to see who
has what it takes

to be crowned...

the Last One Standing.

[dramatic music playing]

[Jeff] Well, that just happened.

Matt Wright has
been eliminated...

from this Last One
Standing challenge.

We've been saying
for the last week

it could be anyone,

and water in a gourd,

no one thought that
water in a [bleep] gourd.

[man] Yeah.

[Steven] To leave,
you know, what he loves

and not be able to accomplish
what he wanted out here,

that's... I think that
hurt him more than...

that leg ever did.

[Jeff] Wow.

[bleep] me.

This is the weirdest end

to an elimination
challenge ever.

The entire other group,

they're all in
mourning right now

because they just
lost their leader.

Like, don't they know

that they also helped

eliminate Matt today?

Because they did.

They all crossed the
finish line before Matt,

but everyone, kind of, blames me

for Matt leaving.

Apparently, I just
killed Matt Wright.

[laughs]

[Steven] Gotta pull through.

Uh, next elimination challenge

is in just a few days.

One thing I'm happy about is,

Matt only lost about a minute.

-Yeah. Yeah.
-A minute and a half.

With a leg he couldn't run on.

-[Steven] Yeah.
-Which means

weak sauce over there,

he's struggling
through this and he's...

-Yeah.
-[Waz] He's not doing well.

-No, he's not.
-[Waz] I'm hoping...

-We got three days.
-We have... We have four more days

and give them the
vote like he deserves.

It really was Matt's
injury that took him out.

It wasn't the lack of skill.

Seeing what Jeff's
done, I honestly believe

that he shouldn't be here.

In four days, another
elimination day,

I don't know what they're
gonna ask us to do in that day,

so I'm just gonna compete

and, uh, and hopefully beat him.

[thunder rumbles]

[narrator] Weather
in the Oribi Gorge

has taken a rare turn.

Fast moving cold fronts
from the South Atlantic

hemmed in by the mountains

are causing
torrential rainstorms

in the region.

[Gary] All right.

It's raining pretty good now.

Night 36...

comes with a
quite a bit of rain.

Back to me and Waz
again, just like the beginning.

[thunder rumbles]

[Steven] There's
only five of us left.

With Matt gone,

you know, my percentage rises.

He was my biggest
competition, he always has been.

But the fact that
he's not here now,

it definitely benefits me.

This is anybody's game.

To be able to leave

as the Last One Standing
would be incredible.

But, you know, there's some
great competitors out here

like Gary.

Gary's a wildcard, man.

Gary's just a
straight-up wildcard.

You never take your
eye off the wildcard.

Just between this and
his previous challenges,

you never know what
Gary's gonna do, man.

One second, he put alligator
eyeballs on his own eyes.

Have you seen my contact, TJ?

[Steven] Next minute,
he's chopping down

the poison tree.

I'm in big trouble.
[breathes heavily]

And now, he's
like in the top five

of Last One Standing.

[Gary] [groans]

[indistinct] [bleep].

Like the beginning
of these challenges,

he's killing it.

[Gary] Show me the honey!

There's some
beehive action! Woo.

[woman] Oh, my God!

Gary could walk
across that finish line.

Slide, slide, slide, slide.

-Coming in hot!
-[indistinct]

-Yes!
-[cheering]

[Steven] Dan's the guy you
gotta watch in this challenge

because he's a quick thinker,

he's a problem-solver.

He knows how to adapt,

he knows how to come up

with solutions to problems

that you really
wouldn't think of.

And that's a big deal out here.

I think that's why
he was able to go

from 21 to 60 days.

And now he could win this.

Woo! I'm the first.

That is amazing!

[laughs]

[Steven] You know,
Waz, he's the muscle man.

The guy rips up trees.

For somebody that
looks like he could be

the Incredible Hulk's
albino stepbrother,

um, he's a really smart man.

He knows his stuff.

He's strong, he doesn't quit.

Yeah!

No way.

He's a survivalist,
he... He's on point.

I mean, he's right
there with Dan.

He went from 21
to 60 just like that,

so he... He's a competitor
out here for sure.

[indistinct] [laughs]

Oh. That's hot

and [indistinct]

[Steven] And then, we have Jeff.

Are you ready for some fun?

Jeff's the mouth.

That's what Jeff is.

Yes!

[Steven] Uh, you can hear
him from 10 miles away.

[Jeff] This is what I live for!

Whether he catches a guppy

or, you know, a
great white shark.

Woo!

[Steven] He's stubborn like me,

which is never good
for a competitor.

He's gonna be sticking
out to the end just like I will.

And then, there's me.

I'm the king, man. I
mean, I literally am.

I mean, I have the most days,

the most challenges consecutive

out of anyone

in the history of
Naked and Afraid.

I'm the guy that doesn't quit.

There ain't no taps.

-[man speaking]
-Uh-hmm.

[woman speaking]

I'm just gonna keep
doing what I do best

because that's, you know,
be... Kind of a big deal.

[narrator] Now down to
the top five survivalists,

the next eight
days will determine

who will be rewarded $100,000.

And for the first time,

a PSR score of 10.0,

along with the title
of Last One Standing.

[Gary] Well? Today's
hunting day, huh?

[Waz] Well, it looks like
it's gonna be hot all day.

-It's gonna bring those animals out.
-[Gary] Yeah.

[Waz] Today might be our
best shot to get some food...

-Yeah.
-[Waz] on the table.

Yeah. Absolutely.

Maybe one of us
will make this happen.

[Waz] Maybe both of
us will make this happen.

That'd be awesome.

I feel good, you know,

that I made it in the top five.

I'm capable of hunting
and getting a kill.

[Waz] You got a
little dizzy there?

Getting a little dizzy?

The hunter is weak.

[Dan] I wanna show
you the fish trap.

I'm the only one that
knows where it is.

This is the spot.

[Steven] This is the spot?

[Dan speaking]

Water out here is rising.

[bleep] what the?

So, you'd think there'd
be something, right?

No fish, unfortunately.

Not a big surprise
because it stayed

with the river right now.

It rained last night
for two hours straight.

Just trying to get
something in my system

and making sure I'm
in my mental game,

because a lot of
these challenges so far

have involved being resourceful,

thinking on your toes,
and being creative

with how you solve a problem.

We just have not eaten

in a long while now.

I just wanted to
show you where it is.

[Steven] Okay.

[Dan] Before eliminations.

[Gary] I made this
blind the other day,

because there's a ton of tracks

coming through here.

There's a trail right in
front of me, 10 yards.

Perfect spot to hunt.

They walk by, bam.

I'm chillin' like a villain,

waiting to do some killin'.

[laughs]

[Waz] It's really hard to guess

what the next survival
challenge is gonna be.

For me, I really wish

they had some sort
of bow drill or hand drill

for our starting exercise here.

It's something I've done a lot.

And also, I've practiced a lot

with the bow and arrow
um, over the last six months.

I've also practiced a lot
while I've been out here.

I'm pretty consistent
with that thing now.

So if that comes
up in a challenge,

I'm pretty confident as well.

I'm pretty happy with that one.

That's a definite kill.

Whatever comes,
I'm gonna deal with it,

and then I won't... I won't
be coming in last place

in any of these challenges.

[Gary] So the
water is down there,

that's where they're
gonna come in to drink,

and I'll be able to get
a shot off pretty easily.

As long as something comes down.

[Jeff] We're a few
days away from day 40

and I'm already preparing

for this next
elimination challenge,

because this next one

will be the biggest one.

I don't know what
to prepare for,

so I'm preparing for everything.

And I'm gonna prepare

in the environment closest

to the day 40
challenge location.

I am approximately here,

and I've marked this tree.

So what I'm going to do,

I'm gonna collect
materials for fire,

I'm gonna collect
materials for shelter,

and I'm gonna stash this

and hide all of this

right near by the X.

So, right now, I'm, uh,

just creating a space

for a potential shelter,

if I have to build one.

So all I would have to do

is put a few more support beams

on top of this,

cut a bunch of grass,

throw that on top,

and the shelter's already made.

What I can do is I can store

a bunch of dry tinder here,

so even if it rains,

they'll stay dry here.

There's a lot of
flash flood debris

in this area,

and it's the perfect
material to collect

for building a fire

because it's elevated
off the ground.

Look at this.

Even after yesterday's rain,

this stuff is dry.

It's basically been
sitting in this sauna.

And this is gonna be perfect

if I need to start
a fire in a pinch.

With everything
I have right now,

I'm in a good position.

I'm absolutely committed

on staying here till day 45

and being the Last One Standing.

[thunder rumbling]

Woo!

Looks like we're in
for some weather.

Oh, yeah.

[thunder rumbling]

[Waz speaking]

Pretty hard right now

and the rain's cold.

I'm gonna pack this
stuff and get back.

There's not gonna be any animals

walking around in the rain.

Uh, they're all
gonna be hunkering

down wherever they are.

[thunder rumbling]

[rain pattering]

[Dan] It's hard to
get protein out here.

The wind is swirling.

The weather
changes all the time,

as you can tell.

The river's risen
like two feet today

in just a matter

of an hour or two,

which is crazy,

um, making it
impossible to fish.

The wind swirling
makes it possible to hunt.

Woo! We are calorie depleted.

It's making things tough,

making it hard to move
around and get things done,

but day 40 is the
next big milestone.

We're assuming
the next elimination...

could be a big one.

We don't know.

[Steven] It's a, uh, a bit

of a morale dump, I think

for everyone right now.

[thunder rumbling]

[Steven speaking]

[Gary speaking]

[Waz speaking]

[thunder rumbling]

[Waz] It's cold.

[Gary] Oh man, it's a cold day,

it figures.

[Waz] Last night
was pretty terrible

as far as the weather goes.

Normally, when it rains,
it's about 30 minutes.

Last night, it rained for
over a couple of hours.

[Gary] What if it starts
raining on us again?

[Waz] Oh, that'll suck.

[Gary] Yeah, right?

It's miserable
sitting in the rain,

but today is day 40,

Elimination Day.

Today,

the survival reaper comes
to take one of us away.

[Dan] All right.

Today's the day.

[Steven] Oh, day 40.

-[Jeff speaking]
-[Steven] Right?

Typically, on day 40,

we're, you know,
excited, and packing up

and heading for extraction,

but this is not your
typical challenge.

Says on the back here,

"Make your way here on day 40."

It's a yellow X.

[Jeff] That's where
the hunting cash was.

[Steven] Basically, go out,
make a left and keep going.

-[Jeff] Let's do it.
-[Gary] All right.

[Dan] Final five.
Let's roll, boys.

Let's do it.

I feel pretty good
about my odds today.

You know, I've come in
either first or second place

for every single challenge,

except for the first one.

[bleep]. We have no
idea what this is gonna be.

It rained pretty
hard last night,

and I have to admit

I had a little bit of
a smile on my face

because I already have
a bunch of dry tinder,

and a shelter location

and a bunch of
materials I collected.

All right, here we are.

[Steven] Oh, we got a map.

[Jeff] Got another map.

All right.

"To become the
Last One Standing,

you must continue to
master the elements.

Today,

you will leave your
fire starter behind

and create primitive fire."

[Steven] Crazy.

[Dan] Wow, that's a tough one.

[Waz] That's a tough one.

[Gary] It's gonna
be a... [whistles]

[Dan] [bleep].

[narrator] The survivalists have

already completed challenges

in three vital survival skills,

securing food,
water, and shelter.

Now, they will face the
most daunting challenge yet,

creating fire using
only primitive methods,

and the cordage provided.

[Jeff] "If any maps
remain by nightfall,

your quest for fire
will resume at sunrise.

As before, you were all
competing as individuals.

So you must work alone.

When three have succeeded,

the remaining two

will face immediate
elimination."

[whistle] Whoo!

-Wow, wow, wow, wow, wow.
-[Jeff] This is crazy.

-Crazy, crazy.
-[Jeff] This is the big one.

-[Dan] This is the real deal.
-Yup.

[Gary] The Friction
Fire Challenge

is probably one
of the truer tests

of survival skills

because friction
fire is very hard.

-Yeah.
-This is not gonna be easy, I think,

for even someone
that's good at this.

-[Steven] No, no.
-[Waz] It's not gonna be easy day.

It's rained for a
three-day straight.

It rained all last night.

-[Steven] No, it's not.
-It poured last night.

[Waz] This is the turning point

for this entire competition.

This is gonna thin out the herd.

This is gonna separate
the men from the boys.

This challenge just took
a hard turn off the freeway.

[Jeff] Yeah, it
really, really did.

Onto a place where
there's no roads.

-[Jeff] Yeah. Yup.
-[Waz] You know?

[Gary] This
challenge just got real.

We're about to get
our asses kicked.

[Dan] Whoo [bleep].

[Waz] This one separates
the men from the boys.

-[Gary] Yeah.
-Primitive fire from now on

when it's been
raining every day,

so that just bumps
up the challenge

quite significantly.

I guess, we leave
these here, huh?

Should we grab our cordage

and leave our fire starters.

[Waz] This is some
caveman stuff,

-you know?
-[Jeff] Yeah.

We have to build
a primitive fire,

and then we have to
boil a half a pot of water

to a rolling boil.

And not only that,

this is a Double Elimination.

Two people are going home.

[Steven] Hey, let's do
it. May the best ones win.

-[Jeff] Yeah. Let's go.
-Okay.

[bleep]. All right, guys.

[Steven] No sense
running on this one.

-[Dan] Nope.
-[Gary] Nope.

[Steven] [bleep].

[Dan] The one thing
I didn't want was...

-[Steven] Yeah.
-[Gary] Right.

I've pulled off a
bow drill before

but it's been years.

I've relied on
that fire starter.

They've had people come out here

and do these challenges
who claim to be experts

on friction fire

and not get fire for days,

for days.

Making primitive
fire is very hard.

-[man] Oh. I got to stop.
-[woman] No.

Oh, my God. That's exhausting.

[Gary] You gotta
grind, and grind,

and grind

with the bow or by hand drill.

[man] The materials
out here suck.

[woman] You can
do it. You can do it.

[Gary] You have to earn
that fire with calories.

It's out.

[bleep].

[Steven] All this
rain did not help.

[Dan] No, absolutely did not.

[Steven] All the
wood is super soaked.

Primitive fire is something
I've done a hundred times,

but I haven't done it

a hundred times
soaking wet in Africa.

This is gonna be the
hardest challenge yet

and I think that's important.

You know, this is the
Last One Standing,

so whoever earns the right

to go to the next
level here earned it.

[Jeff] Everyone else, I
think they're pretty terrified,

but I'm excited for this

because that's what
I've prepared for.

So right now, I'm
gathering all the materials

that I collected

to keep them dry from the rain.

So I have an advantage,
I have a lead right now.

This is soaking wet.

[Waz] Even this
really dead grass

has a bunch of water in it.

It's gonna be pretty tough.

[Jeff] I'm optimistic today.

I just feel like the stars
have been aligned for me

from the beginning

and the others appear

to be scrambling.

I saw their faces

and several of
them looked worried.

[bleep] everything's so wet.

And today's just
another opportunity

to eliminate...

some more of my competition.

Do you think you got this?

Uh, it's something
I can get, but...

I don't know if
I'll be the winner.

I don't know how...

How much these people practiced.

Judging from the look
on everyone's face,

it's about zero.

I've done this
enough times before.

I would've liked
better conditions,

but survival, you
don't get what you like.

You get what you get.

There's a couple
of different methods

you can use for fire starting.

Bow drills and hand
drills pretty similar.

I'm gonna use the bow drill.

[narrator] Both hand
drills and bow drills

use the friction of
the spinning spindle

on a notch fireboard
to create an ember.

Hand drills do not
require cordage

and are simpler to make,

but are physically exhausting.

Bow drills, however, add a bow

to move the spindle
faster with less strain,

and a socket on the top
to apply more pressure.

[Waz] As that spindle spins,

it's putting out
tiny little bits

of fire and wood
that have heated up

to the point where
they're almost on fire.

And all that black dust
drops down into the catch

and if you keep
going long enough,

all that black dust
turns into an ember

and that's called the cherry.

When I get that
cherry, I'll drop it in here,

and close it up, blow on it,

and it's all over.

Um, I just want a
particular type of wood

for the spindle.

It's gonna take a
bit of trial and error.

You don't want the same
type of wood for the spindle

as you have for the base.

Um, you wanna do some
tests with your thumbnails

to, sort of, see how soft it is.

It sort of feels like
it might be too soft.

I'm gonna give it a run anyway.

I think it's just gonna
be a trial and error

with a few different
types of wood.

This is the base

and we're gonna see
if these bits of wood

work well together.

I'm missing one part
and that's just the top thing

that holds onto it.

And that's the top bit.

It's gonna sit in here and
try and keep it straight.

[squeaking]

All right. I'm gonna find
a harder piece of wood.

[Steven] Everything is soaked.

It's gonna be tough.

And, uh, I'm gonna have to...

think outside the
box a little bit here.

I got some cordage I might
be able to make a bow drill,

but right now,

um, the materials are rough,

and they're few and far between.

I wish this bamboo
was a little bit thicker,

make my life a lot easier.

The bamboo was the
best resource out here.

It's super dry.

I'm gonna try this first.

This is bamboo friction fire.

I mean, look at
that beautiful smoke.

I thought we would
be out in the cold.

[blowing]

Oh, yes!

-Oh, yeah!
-[laughs]

The problem is,

I don't know if this
bamboo is thick enough.

Oh, I think I might be
able to make it work.

[narrator] To make
a bamboo fire saw,

split the bamboo in half

and cut a horizontal
groove on the side,

then put bamboo shavings inside,

and rub another piece of bamboo

along the groove,

generating friction

to ignite the shavings

and create an ember.

I do this right, I can...

be finished here in...

about an hour.

[bleep]. This is gonna be tough.

This bamboo is too skinny.

[exhales deeply]

The bamboo is just too thin.

The amount of pressure
I need for friction

is too much for the thickness

of the bamboo so
the bamboo breaks.

I don't think bamboo
is gonna work.

You know what, we're
gonna try the hand drill.

[Dan] My plan is
to make a bow drill.

I've made primitive
fire a few times

but not in this kind
of environment,

and I'm up against
some fierce competition,

but I welcome the challenge.

I'm gonna take the time getting

all the materials perfect.

This is a piece of
flood catch debris

and it's been in the sun.

If I feel any sort of cold,

it means it might be wet.

It's not awful actually.

[wood squeaking]

Jesus Christ.

[pants]

I don't have the
[bleep] energy, man.

I'm getting smoke.

I could be the first one
done with this competition.

[dramatic music playing]

-[wood scratching]
-[Jeff panting]

Okay.

It's hot down there.

[wood scratching]

I got smoke,

but unfortunately,

where there's smoke,

there isn't always fire.

The problem is...

see how deep I've
carved in the corkwood

and, uh, and it
hasn't turned black.

It's breaking apart the wood

before it gets super-hot.

[sighs]

This is exhausting.

This is the first time in
40 days I've really, um,

really felt the fatigue hard.

I have a feeling everyone's
feeling this way, though.

-[dramatic music playing]
-[wood scratching]

[Steven] I could
make a bow drill,

but I'm just trying to
make it as easy as possible

for me, so I'm
trying the hand drill.

Problem with the hand drill is

hand drilling is exhausting.

[exhales]

And you have to keep going.

But I've been eating
leaves for days.

Oh, [bleep].

Oh, man, that is...

Make you lightheaded real quick.

Might have to go
with the bow drill.

I gotta... I gotta take a break.

It's been a long 40 days.

It's tough to sac this
one on top of all that.

[dramatic music playing]

Yes. So, this is gonna
work as a [indistinct]

I'm probably a few hours
into this friction fire starting.

It's definitely tiring, but

I still have fat stores,

I still have calorie stores,
I still have protein to go.

I'm just gonna keep trying.
So I'm looking for some woods

that are gonna
work well together.

Your fireboard, you want
it to be a little bit softer,

then your spindle,

so I need to find a nice base

of soft wood, not too
punky for the fireboard,

just trial and error,

find the two woods
that work well together.

If they start popping
out some smoke

and a little bit
of a black dust,

then I know they're gonna work.

Come on.

Here it is.

All right.

All of this,

you can see this
black dust here,

that's exactly what I'm
looking for in this process.

So we've got the right
combinations of wood,

all I've got to do is

cut a groove

and that black dust there

will start falling
into that groove.

And eventually, the
heat and the friction

causes that to turn into an
ember, that's what we call a cherry.

[bleep].

We're so close.

So close to getting that cherry.

[thunder rumbling]

[Waz] [bleep].

Oh, [bleep]. Of
course it's raining.

[rain pattering]

[Dan] Trying to start a
primitive fire in the rain.

Oh, this is pretty ridiculous.

Right now, it is raining

and it is completely impossible

to start a primitive
fire in the rain.

There's still three
scrolls right there

and I anticipate
there's gonna be

three scrolls right
there tomorrow morning.

[Steven] [exhales] What a day.

[man] Frustrating, huh?

[Steven] Yeah, exhausting.

I thought I was gonna
pass out a couple times.

Yeah, dude. Calories
that were burned today.

[Steven] Yeah.

What an exhausting day.

You know, I wanna win.

I wanna win.

I'm the king of
the forest, dude.

Naked and Afraid is what I do.

And I wanna be the
Last One Standing.

I wanna be able to
do amazing things

for my girl and our kids.

I want to change their world

and I have the opportunity
to do that right now.

I'm gonna give
everything I can tomorrow.

[thunder rumbling]

I wanna win.

[thunder rumbling]

[Gary] All right.

It's raining pretty good now.

Waz and I are both
drying our fireboards

and I'm drying out my spindle.

We want our stuff as dry
as possible so we can make

this friction fire
happen tomorrow.

[thunder rumbling]

[Dan] We're just sitting here
trying to dry everything out.

I am not giving up.

But, man, it sucks.

[Steven] It rained
on and off last night.

-[Dan] It did.
-[Jeff] Cold and raining again.

Ground's still wet.

So it's the morning of day 41,

and we're all still here.

It rained all night once again.

Everything is wet,
but I'm drying materials

out around the
fire, and hopefully

the sun will come out
and I can get a fire going.

Oh God, I'm so tired.

[Waz] A little bit of sunshine
on us today, which is nice.

Forty-three is extraction,

so we only got today and
tomorrow to get this done.

I was so close yesterday.
I really was so close.

Hopefully,

the sun...

will give me a little bit
of fire and help me out,

and just see if drying the
wood out has helped at all.

[Waz] It's gonna come.

[sighs]

[bleep].

That sucks.

It's exactly the same
as it was yesterday.

Any other time
that I've done this,

that's popped the cherry.

To work that hard
and not get one,

it's pretty surprising to me.

I don't really know

what I'm doing
wrong at this stage.

Honestly speaking, I'm worried.

You know, I removed
myself from my missus' life

and my two daughters'
lives 45 days.

And the only way
I can justify that

is to bring that money home.

[dramatic music playing]

[Jeff] So what
I've decided to do

is to transition to
building a bow drill set.

I believe that
that's my best shot

going forward because
of my energy levels.

What I see from
some of the others is

I see them burning
themselves out.

I see them
exhausting themselves.

[grunting]

[bleep].

[Jeff] So I'm letting them
run their gas tanks empty.

Dan is sitting out in
the heat of the sun.

They're gonna be hurting,

they're gonna have no energy.

That didn't work.

[Jeff] I've won every single one

of these elimination challenges

by using strategy.

So today I'm choosing
the canopy location

because the sun's
out, it's hot out there.

If you burn yourself
out too early,

will you even have the energy

to even complete the bow drill?

So I'm pacing myself.

[Gary] Ah, this
little bit of sunshine

popping through is beautiful.

My planned attack
in making friction fire

is trying to find the best wood,

the best fireboard,
the best spindle.

And then, you play with
it and you see which one

heats up the quickest.

I'm gonna try this
wood. It's actually firmer.

See if this pumps anything out.

An advantage I have
is my fire technique.

I'm always underestimated.

My sense of humor and
my reckless playfulness

makes people neglect
to see my true skill.

If I actually won this,

what a trick that would
be on the world, right?

The wildcard loose
cannon crazy guy

that just horses
around all the time wins.

We got an ember, people.

That is beautiful.

I already won.

[dramatic music playing]

[Waz] Oh, that's
looking promising, Gary.

[Gary] I got an ember.

Oh, you did?

[bleep] yeah.

[Gary] Gosh, dammit.

Threw it in my nest but
it went out in my nest.

Hey bro, that's
[bleep] solid, though.

Do you mind if I have
a look at your fireboard?

[Gary] Take a look.

I gotta make a better nest.

It is the perfect
fireboard that brought us

just the right amount of soft.

All right, Gary, I'm
proud of you, man.

-[Gary] Thank you, brother.
-You're motivating me.

[Gary] All right.

-Good job, man.
-[Gary] Thank you.

I was pretty surprised
because Gary, you know,

in all of these elimination
challenges typically taken

about the longest out of anyone.

So that does motivate me.

I wish I knew what
wood he's using.

If I had those bits of wood,

I'd have a fire in two minutes.

[Gary] Try this again.

I'm in the zone.

I'm getting close.

Oops.

Damn.

[grunting]

My stomach got a cramp in it.

God, I'm exhausted.

[Steven] No coal.

[blows air]

This is way denser wood,

so I'm curious how
this is gonna work.

Let's see what happens.

Even though this is
the hardest challenge,

this is my favorite
one, because this is true

survival situation here.

This is wet Africa,
middle of nowhere.

Don't know what's going on.
You have to adapt and evolve,

and that's what truly makes
the Last One Standing.

[panting]

[bleep].

This one's pretty
hard and gave me

the best results so far with
that big black spot there.

That means there's fire there,
but I just can't get the ember

to come together. I just can't.

[Jeff] Me either.

[chuckles] I can't, man.

-[Jeff] Yeah.
-Dude, my...

The amount of combinations
I've gone through,

I think I've gone through

one, two, three, four...

Six different
woods for spindles.

-[Jeff] Yup.
-This is my third fireboard.

[Jeff] Yup. We all have
burned similar. All of us,

just as how you're set up here.

-Yeah. Yeah. I got...
-[Jeff] Yeah.

my bird's nest, my
spindle's great. I...

-I'm getting...
-Looks super similar

to the wood I'm
using for my spindle.

-[Steven] Yeah. It's super dry.
-[Jeff] I think it might be

the exact same wood.

[Steven] Everything's
right, you know.

-[Jeff] Yeah.
-I've done this hundreds of times.

Mmm-hmm.

I don't want them
to know how well

my setup is doing right now.

I think I wanna make them think

that I'm failing miserably.

So I feel my tank draining, bro.

-[Steven] Yeah, yeah.
-I do. And it's...

The 41 days is, uh...

-It's hitting me, you know.
-[Steven] Yeah.

[Jeff] They've had
this war of attrition

with me for weeks now.

Countless animals

that they haven't
shared anything with me,

and so I've been
operating on a low calorie,

all vegetarian
diet for a long time.

And my body's in the zone.

My body's used to it.

You look exhausted.

I'm exhausted.
I've been doing...

-[Jeff] You've got bags under your eyes.
-I've been doing

like 10 minutes until I'm, like,

-about to pass out.
-[Jeff] Yeah.

Yeah.

Their energy levels are down.

They're looking depleted.

Meanwhile, I feel
pretty energetic.

I feel every word you're
saying. I think it's humidity.

-I think it's humidity.
-[Waz] It's crazy.

[Jeff] How are you doing, Waz?

So Gary's got three embers.

-[Jeff] Did he really?
-What?

I watched. He... I stood
there and watched him do it.

-[Jeff] Wow.
-Saw the [bleep] red.

-[Steven] Wow.
-No way.

Saw him put in the bird's nest

and [bleep] fell through,

-and it was gone.
-Oh, my God.

-[Steven] No.
-I'm, like,

"How does he make
it look so easy?"

It's gotta be the materials...

It's a hundred
percent the materials.

What kind of woods he work with?

I don't know, but
if I had that wood...

-[Steven] Huh.
-I'd be done hours ago.

Good for him.

Gary is surprising some
people out here, ain't he?

Yeah. I was surprised he
didn't go to be honest with you.

All right, boys,
I'm gonna go finish

this challenge real
quick and I'll be back.

[Jeff] All right.

[dramatic music playing]

[Waz] Gary's
got a little cherry,

which is amazing for him.

[bleep].

I just watched Gary
do that with such ease

and his dust is a bit blacker,

which would mean
a higher temperature.

His bow's working both
ways, not just one way.

I can't just keep
doing the same thing

and expect a different result.

All right. I'm gonna
find a longer bow.

I think it's gonna
be trial and error.

I'm only changing
one variable at a time

so I know which one's
actually making the difference.

It did seem smooth. I liked it.

So, that's the combo
I'm gonna go with.

Sometimes if you put
some water on your cordage,

it's gonna grip that
wood a little bit better.

I've gotta be close to the
50s for the number of times

that I've bent over like this
and set myself up and said,

"All right, this is the time."

[dramatic music playing]

[Waz] Come on.

All right. Got my cherry.

You know, once
you get that cherry,

you're gonna wanna
protect it a little bit

so it doesn't burn
out too quickly.

You wanna get that in
your bird's nest nice and fast.

[bleep]. Yes!

[dramatic music playing]

[Waz] All right. Got my cherry.

[bleep]. Got you.

Told you. I told you
I'd get this today.

[bleep]. Yeah.

Feels amazing.

I was never gonna give up,

but I tell you what,

this was the toughest
challenge so far.

It's all about those
little refinements,

finding the right bit of wood,

finding the right spade,
finding the right bow size.

You only change one thing
at a time, see if it works.

If it does, keep it,
change the next one.

You make little
refinements constantly.

I promised my
missus when I left,

I left her crying

saddest things I got to do

is watch her cry because
of a decision that I've made.

But I said to her, I'm
gonna do everything

I can to bring that money home.

And she said, "I know you will."

My combination's working well.

I know that.

Putting light pressure on.

I'm on the right track.

I'm on the right track.

[Dan] It's a little tiny ember.

[Dan speaking]

Oh, my God. Oh, my [bleep] God!

Oh, my God!

I... It's sorted. It's sorted.

It's done it.

Oh, my God.

Oh, my God!

I can't believe
I [bleep] did it.

Oh, my God.

The ember was like
microscopic I put on there.

It was like a last-ditch effort.

[breathing heavily]

Oh, my God. Oh, my God.

Oh, my God. I did it.

It's incredible.

There's so many people that
are so proud of me right now.

This is one of the hardest
things I've ever done.

[bleep] 42 days.

Oh, my eyebrows are
gone. It's not worth it.

I couldn't have imagined

where I'd be after
that fan challenge.

I never thought it would
bring me to this point.

To be worthy of being
the last one standing,

ah, God.

I can't even describe
the feeling I'm feeling now.

Now it boiled.

[laugh] That's it.

[cries]

[dramatic music playing]

Dan?

What is this?

Where did he go?

[bleep] yes,

he's getting a scroll.

Yeah. Dan's finished.

Oh, my God.

I'm in complete disbelief.

I didn't think I could do it.

My odds just became one
in three to win this thing.

It's insane.

[bleep] yes.

[bleep] yes.

-Yeah.
-I hurt myself.

Oh, who cares?

Toughest competition at
this stage appears to be Dan.

He seems to do quite well

in all of those challenges
and eliminations.

I think him and I were sort
of seen as the underdogs

from the start being
the sort of rookies.

But we seem to be the ones,
uh, performing, you know,

towards the top
of each challenge.

I don't wanna put a
damper on the parade,

but Gary's gone.

-He tapped.
-He tapped?

He tapped about 20 minutes ago.

[Dan] And now, it's
on to Steven and Jeff.

Obviously, I want Steven to win.

[Steven] Dan, did you get it?

-I got it.
-[Steven] Yeah!

Dan, I'm so proud of you, man.

[Jeff] Oh, no way.

Congratulations.

-Thank you, man.
-Yup.

[Waz speaking]

[Jeff] This news
changes everything.

The only ones left
are me and Steven

and it's clear that Waz
and Dan want Steven next.

-Yeah.
-You got this.

-Yeah.
-You got it.

Even when you get the smoke,

just keep going, keep going.

[Steven] Yeah.
I'll get it there.

[Waz] I need you in this, man.

-I know. You'll be in it.
-[Waz] I'm doing this.

[wood screeching]

It's kinda crazy, the
fact that Steven and I

are so close,

we can hear each
other's bow drills going.

And one of us is
going home tonight

and that's hard

because Steven was probably
my best friend coming in here.

But I have to beat him

if I wanna be the
last one standing.

I think now what I'm gonna do is

change spindles.

If I don't change anything up,

I'll probably get
the same results.

[Steven] All right.
New fireboard.

The hardest wood I've found yet.

Super dry.

This is my ticket to
the scroll right here.

Oh, yeah. That's more like it.

Now, what I'm scared
of is there's a big crack

right down the
center of this one.

Could I hold it together
with some of my cordage?

Who knows? Maybe it'll help me.

Maybe it'll add
a little friction.

[Steven] Trial and error.

Part of survival.

Giving this thing
everything I have.

I either leave here the winner

or I leave as one
of the 11 losers.

I don't sugarcoat [bleep].

I've never received
a participation trophy

in my life and I don't
ever wanna receive one.

I'm here to win.

That's what I'm gonna do.

All right.

I'm getting somewhere.

Making smoke.

I think I have a coal.

I think I have a coal.

Dear Father in heaven,
please bless me,

please bless me now.

[wood screeching]

[intense music playing]

[Jeff] I got a coal.

My coal went out.

Okay.

That was proof
that I can do this.

That was proof.

I think my bird's
nest was too thick

and it didn't allow
enough air flow through.

So, I'm setting this
thick stuff to the side

and I'm gonna use
more of this fine hairs,

fine material in
here for the next one.

I swear to God I'm gonna
fight until the sun goes down

or until my heart stops.

[sighs]

[dramatic music playing]

[wood screeching]

[bleep].

[exhales deeply]

It's exhausting.

Don't know what to do.

Running out of wood,

trying to make another spindle.

You know, you're mentally
and physically exhausted

when whittling a spindle,

makes you feel like
you're gonna pass out

every now and then.

[exhales]

Softer wood, higher fireboard.

You know, I got
a few hours left,

so I'm pushing as hard as I can.

I can't physically
push any harder

than I'm pushing right now.

I've tried nine fireboards,

eight different
woods for spindles.

[Steven speaking]

[sighs] Man.

[tribal percussion
music playing]

Hey, buddy.

What are you working on?

[Waz] I'm making a backpack.

Preparing for war
basically, you know?

Getting ready for
whatever battles lie ahead

and getting myself
in the position

where I can be as
unbeatable as possible.

Since Gary is gone,

do you have any extra
pieces of small hide

so I can make a
backpack out of it too?

[Waz] You can take that side.

[Dan] Finishing earlier

and being able to do
this is a huge advantage.

Extraction's tomorrow.

It's gonna be tough. It's
a three-day extraction.

[Waz] So, I'm gonna trim
the top, but that's not bad.

-There was a...
-It's great.

God, they're past the point
of wearing out over there,

both of them.

[Waz] Yeah.

[Dan] Jeff got a
pretty good cherry,

got it in the bird's nest,

saw a flame, and then went out.

So, that's not a
very good sign at all.

[Waz] Yeah.

[soft upbeat music playing]

[Jeff] [bleep] No coal.

This is the most
exhausting thing

I've ever done in my life

and that's coming
from the first person

to ever do two
sixty-day challenges.

[grunting]

Don't leave here
with any energy.

You're leaving here dead
or you're not leaving here.

I won't give up.

Never quit.

I haven't heard any squeaks

coming from Steven over there

in quite a while.

I wonder if...

I wonder if he's exhausted too.

I'm sure he is.

[birds chirping]

[Steven] I'm so tired.

So, so tired.

I don't think I've ever
been more physically

and mentally exhausted

and I've done 251 days of this.

It says something.

It's crazy.

You know, if this
is my last stand,

kind of just like to
soak it out for good

for about half an hour.

You know, I've been going...

10 hours a day for
three days on this.

[sniffles]

I gave everything...

and if I left this
challenge now,

I would... I would totally
leave with my head held high.

I gave everything.

[Dan] What's happening, buddy?

Well, couldn't quite
get the job done.

I love you so much, man.

I love you too.

I'm so, so proud of you guys.

You guys have absolutely
no idea how proud I am of you.

No idea.

-I love you so much.
-I love you too, brother.

You know that you
guys are my brothers.

It's already been like
tears of sadness right now.

It's tears of joy and happiness

for Dan and Waz

'cause they earned it, man.

They absolutely earned it.

[Waz] You know, I've just
said my goodbyes to Steven.

It really is probably
one of the hardest things

that I've had to do on any
one of those challenges

is say goodbye to
a brother like that.

There's no joy to
be found in that.

None at all.

[Jeff] Did you finish?

No.

I gave my last hurrah.

-Did you?
-Yeah.

I just wanted to...

Oh, I don't wanna...

[Jeff panting]

I just wanted to...

-Can I give you a hug?
-[Jeff] Yeah.

-I love you, man.
-I love you too.

I've cried more today than
I have in the past 10 years,

it's combined.

These three days were
the hardest mentally

and physically I've ever been.

Me too.

And I know you
understand everything.

Yeah, I do. I do.

Forgiving each other

is probably the
biggest challenge

and the best thing
that I've overcome

on this entire journey so far.

And I am super
thankful for that.

We are the two
OGs here, you know?

-Yeah.
-Among the most days ever...

-Yeah.
-in Naked and Afraid history

-right here.
-Yeah.

I still love him.

I always will,

you know, he's my brother.

All right. I love you, buddy.

I love you too.

You keep going at it, okay?

I will, man.

I will.

Been a better part of the decade

I've been doing these

and this might be the end

of this chapter in my book here.

It's been a big journey for me.

Twenty-one days of
backwoods of Alabama.

[bleep].

One of the most venomous
snakes in America.

To the savannahs of Africa.

[women] Oh, my God.

[Steven] Two weeks
in the tundras of Alaska.

[woman] Your
crotch is in the snow.

[man] Oh, my God. Anyway...

[Steven] Fourteen days on a
deserted island in Bahamas.

We got a little
bit in here, guys.

Kind of a big deal. I
keep telling you, guys.

Sixty days wrestling
alligators in the swamps.

-You did it, bro.
-Okay.

[Stevens] Sixty days in the
Amazon rainforest in Peru.

And now, forty-two
days in Oribi Gorge.

It is 251 days

of Naked and Afraid.

That's one hell of a resume

and no matter what,

I'll always be the king.

Love you, boys.

Whoo!

[tense music playing]

The sun is getting
lower in the sky,

but I'm not gonna stop.

Come on, body.

Don't give up on me.

There's very few of us in
Naked and Afraid history

that are never tappers.

We never tapped, ever.

Steven's one of those.

He just tapped.

Two hundred and fifty-one days

on Naked and Afraid for Steven

and he just tapped.

I don't get it.

Never [bleep] quit.

Come on.

Come on.

Yeah, you like that smoke?

Yeah.

Yeah.

You like that?

[bleep].

No coal?

[grunts]

I'm not quitting.

I'm gonna win.

I hear the thunder rolling in.

I don't have much time.

I'm so close.

Look at this.

So close.

This one.

I burned so far
through the board

that it burned right through it.

I've never seen a
fireboard like this in my life

without fires being started

from every single one of these.

The one I got a coal from,

part of the wall caved in.

Maybe it's the wall that
caved in that helped me.

Maybe it spit out more ash.

Maybe I'll widen my V.

I'm weaker,

temperature's cooler.

The wind is up

and there's a storm coming in.

But I've seen bigger
comebacks than this.

I've seen miracles

and I believe in miracles.

[Dan] Still, like, on
this adrenaline high.

Dude, that ember
was microscopic.

It was a Hail Mary
I threw it in there.

I'm in complete disbelief.

This one was in the
shots you're gonna take.

Unless the weak source
is leaving, going home.

Something that should've
happened weeks ago.

[Dan] Well, right.

It's not over yet.

[Waz] Should we go see him?

[Dan] Yeah.

[Waz] We should
go up and tell him

he's got five minutes left.

[Dan] Sabotage.

[Waz] Any opportunity I'd get,

I plant little seeds

of doubt in his head,
which might help us.

If he's not able
to think clearly

about what he's doing today

and puts him
on tilt a little bit,

then there's a chance
that he doesn't perform

as well and maybe goes home.

Hey, buddy.

How you doing?

[Jeff] Hey, man.
I'm still fighting.

[Dan] Still fighting?

[Jeff] I'm still fighting.

[Dan] Rains are coming.

[Jeff] Yeah, I know. I...

I've been hearing
that damn thunder.

[Waz] Looks like a big
storm's about to roll in.

[Jeff] Yeah.

Yeah, thanks for the warning.

How you guys doing?

[Dan] Doing all right.

[Jeff grunts]

[Waz] Looks like
that fireboard's

got some good burns in it.

[Dan] Yeah. You
got some good burns.

[Jeff] Yeah, I do.

Burned through this
damn board, man.

Yup.

Gotta be tired.

[Jeff] I'm exhausted.

[Dan] It's gotta be tough,

especially getting
that ember before.

[Jeff] Yeah, it's tough, man.

But I'm gonna fight
until the last second,

whenever that is.

[Dan] Oh, well, we don't
wanna distract you too long, man.

You got minutes
left on the clock, so...

[Jeff] That's right.

Thank you guys for checking in.

Make the most of them.

[Jeff] Yeah. Thank you.

[Waz] Do it to it.

[dramatic music playing]

[Dan] Technique can use work,

but I think he's close.

So, here's...

Here it is, Dan.

I could fix that.

I could fix his technique

and he could have
a fire in five minutes.

-Right. I was thinking...
-Right now.

Waz, I was thinking
the same exact thing.

What I saw on that
fireboard, three tips.

I could give him three
tips and he would have

-a fire in five minutes.
-Yup.

But he don't wanna
[bleep] share.

He doesn't wanna play community.

-No.
-He doesn't wanna...

That fireboard was right.

Like, oh, the material.

That [indistinct] from afar.

He doesn't know what to do.

The cut, the lock in the hand,

and the long slow strokes.

That's all he needed.

If he was part of this

that we wanted
him to be part of...

-He would have it.
-he would have fire

-right now.
-Yup. He'd be done.

Well 'cause he didn't
wanna share a hide

with Sarah for a few nights.

Never give in.

Never give in.

[Jeff] The daylight's dropping.

Sun's going down soon

and I have minutes left

to get this fire started.

You're still alive.

You can still fight.

You're still alive.

You can still fight.

Oh, my back.

Started to spasm.

[groaning]

God.

Oh, no.

[dramatic music playing]

[Jeff] Okay.

My last stand

once more into the fray.

Live or die on this day,

live or die on this day.

Never quit.

Never quit.

[groaning]

I've just been told

that I've run out of time.

My challenge is over.

I gave this challenge my all.

The sun's down.

I gave this thing
everything I had,

and I feel like I
did it the right way.

Never called anyone names.

I competed... since day one.

And, uh...

the bullies didn't beat me.

They didn't beat me.

Father time beat me.

I'm okay to say that.

I did this challenge on my own

and I'm the only one
out here that can say that.

Everyone else
relied on each other.

When they got hurt,
people helped them.

When they were hungry,

people fed 'em.

And I hold my head
high and proud.

If I never put on
the satchel again,

I'm proud of my 246 days

Naked and Afraid in the wild.

Boys, it's you too.

[Waz] Is it?

[Jeff] Yeah.

It's you two.

[Dan] Man, points for...

Points for tenacity.

Thank you, sir.

Like you've got...
You literally have

an extraction vehicle
turned up with headlights on.

That's how hard
you've pushed, sir.

[Dan] That was a
lot of work today.

-[Jeff] Thank you, guys.
-I'll give...

I'll give you a hundred percent

of points for that.

-Thank you guys.
-Man, you...

Like, that's more guts
than I've seen out of...

out of anyone in
a long time, so.

Thank you.

I want you to know
I hold no ill feelings

towards anyone here.

-I'm gonna show you something.
-All the little, you know...

-Thanks for saying that.
-headbutts we had.

-Yep.
-I truly mean it.

This was a competition.

-There were emotions involved.
-Yeah.

I respect you guys

more than I can say right now

-in the brief time we have.
-Yup.

You both deserve
to be here 100%.

And the fact that one of
you is gonna walk out of here

the last one standing,
that makes my heart happy.

Appreciate the words
and the sentiments.

-I really do.
-Yeah.

-All right, buddy.
-Me as well.

All right. Good luck, boys.

See you, buddy.

Yeah. Go get it.

Now, I know they don't like me,

but I have nothing
against Dan and Waz.

I haven't taken anything
they've done to me personally.

They're strong.

They're among the
toughest men I know.

And they deserve to be here.

They deserve to fight this out.

And whoever it is,
they've earned it.

They deserve it.

Because what we
just went through

is the hardest Naked
and Afraid challenge

in history.

Farewell, boys.

Give them hell.

[Dan] See you, Jeff.

[Jeff] I may not be
the last one standing,

but I'm leaving here

with my full integrity intact.

And I'm happy with
the man that I am.

And to me, that's victory.

And that is what I live for.

[Waz] It's probably
the biggest names

in Naked and Afraid.

-[Dan] Gone.
-[Waz] Gone in one day.

[Dan] It's just crazy.

You and I in the
Amazon. You and I here.

Dude, we did 50 days
together in the Amazon.

[Dan] Fifty days together, man.

[Waz] And now just
us two doing extraction.

[dramatic music playing]

[Dan] Morning of day 43.

Yesterday was probably
the most insane day

in Naked and Afraid history.

Saw Steven go home,

Jeff, Gary Golding,

three huge names.

But here Waz and I are

on the morning of day 43.

They called us the rookies.

They called us the underdogs.

Yet we've proven ourselves

-time and time again, buddy.
-Here we are, bud.

-Here we are.
-Here we are.

-Top two.
-Call me what you want.

It's not gonna
determine the outcome.

Nope.

I thought it was
gonna be three people

on this extraction,

but turns out it's just
gonna be me and Dan.

We spent 50 days
together in the Amazon.

Is that a shelter?

Is that a person?

[laughs]

-What?
-[Dan] People!

[Waz] There's a bond
from something like that

that never breaks.

[Dan] Help, help, help, help,

help, help, help, Help.

I know what he's gonna
do before he does it.

So, having that inside
knowledge of how he works

and how his brain
works definitely helps me.

Look at that thing.

Dan, do you even know

how much fat we're
gonna be eating today?

Oh, my God.

-Oh!
-Good job, buddy.

He's definitely the
strongest competition now.

That's not to say that I don't
have it in me to beat him.

I'm confident that I will.

Doesn't matter how close we are.

This is a competition.

Obviously, we're not
getting our fire starters back.

We've got a three-day journey.

Yup.

We've been here for 11 days,

which has allowed us to
just maintain the same fire.

We might have to do
permanent fire again.

-We may have to.
-May have to.

I'm planning on
bringing a coal though.

My best bet is to
carry a coal with me

to start a fire tonight.

So I'm not skimping
on the fire material here

that I'm carrying with me

and I'm bringing a leather pot

covered in hide to
carry an ember in.

I wanna be prepared
for every situation,

especially when I don't
know what I'm walking into.

Might seem a little excessive
to cover my pot in leather,

but if I have to bear
hug my pot of coals

to get over an obstacle,

that's a decided advantage
that I have right there.

[Waz] So, we're on
primitive fire starting

for the rest of the
time we're out here.

Anyone can get a fire
starter off an ember

if you still have it.

All right, buddy, let's do this.

-You wanna read these maps?
-[Dan] I'm good.

[Waz] Hey, Dan,
before we do this,

wanna wish you the best of luck.

Same to you, man.

Let's look what we got.

[Dan] Congratulations.

Today marks the beginning

of your three-day
extraction journey.

In the end, only one
of you will triumph

to become the last one standing

and claim the $100,000 prize.

This trek will test
your endurance

and your survival skills.

In the days ahead,
you will climb over

a thousand feet
to reach the crown

of the gorge where one of you

will signal a helicopter
for extraction.

Nice.

[narrator] Entering
the final zone,

Zone Six,

Dan and Waz begin
an unprecedented

three-day extraction,

a 15-mile trek

ascending the rugged
slope of the Oribi Gorge.

Along their journey,

they will need to find
and secure shelter

each night in the days to come.

Their endurance, tracking,

and critical thinking skills

will be put to the test

along with their
skills with the bow

and their ability to
generate and secure fire.

These skills will prove
critical in their quest

to become the last one standing.

[Waz] Water will be
scarce on your journey.

So, you'll each need
to carry a full pot.

You'll also need at
least a blade, a bow,

and a live coal to start fire.

Without these essentials,
you cannot succeed.

Ooh.

[Dan] A thousand
feet is a long ways.

-Yeah, it is.
-[Dan] Okay.

Today is the first
day of extraction,

the three-day extraction.

Never done a three-day
extraction before.

It's gonna be brutal.

Looks like we've got a couple
of hundred feet elevation

to get to where we're going.

We've got a bit of a hike, man.

It's gonna be a trek
clearly to get up.

I don't... I don't know
where any clean path is

to get over the
edge of this thing,

but could be some work.

[Waz] Ooh.

All right. And it begins.

[dramatic music playing]

[Dan sighs]

Holy [bleep].

We are so beat down mentally,

physically, so tired

and, uh... it's really scary.

You know, I'm gonna
have to carry water

and fire for three days.

I haven't had to do
that on a challenge.

These elevation changes
are real, aren't they?

They are.

We're gonna go
up a thousand feet.

Just up here,
should go to the right.

Look at the elevation.
We've already...

[Dan] It's a lot already.

[Waz] Already come
up from that river.

Your coal's doing okay, Dan?

[Dan] I figured the
coal, a little oxygen.

[Waz] Yeah, it's tough
in these closed pots

keeping it alive.

But see what we got.

Uh-oh.

Mine went out.

I suffocated it.

I feel like I got smoke
coming from somewhere

and I just can't
find where it is.

[Dan] How is that possible?

Did we suffocate all of them?

You know, having
that lid on there,

not enough oxygen's got in it

and have all gone out.

So, we're in a bit of
a quandary right now.

Primitive fire is
extremely difficult

and I don't know if I have
that kind of calorie surplus

inside of me to do this.

I am doubting myself.

I don't know if I can do this.

[Waz] Oh, you son of a bitch.

[tiger growls]

[Dan] Uh-oh, mine went out.

[Waz] That is [bleep].

[Dan] My embers went out

and I should have
checked on it more often,

made sure those
embers were still going.

I kind of smothered
out the oxygen in the air

inside of that pot.

Am I gonna have to
run back and get one?

Well, I think going
back's not the right option.

[Dan] I think it is.

Are you gonna try
friction fire right here?

You know, it's moist as hell.

You're not gonna get that.
That's gonna be a lot quicker

and a lot less effort
than trying on friction fire.

We can leave our stuff here.

I'm not trying to doubt you,

-but...
-[Waz] Yeah. Yeah.

What if you go back, get a coal,

and doesn't make it again?

It'll make it.

This one... This
one didn't make it.

[Dan] It was suffocated.

I guarantee it'll make it.

If I don't, close it.

Guaranteed 136%.

Just leave it open?

Yeah.

[Waz] Yeah. As far as
the primitive fire stuff goes,

after a conversation with Dan,

I do realize that
the smartest option,

the most strategic option

is just double time
it back down the hill

and see if our
fire's still going.

[Dan] Ready?

[Waz] Yup.

[birds chirping]

[Dan] I wasn't trying to doubt

your primitive fire
skills man, but...

[Waz] I know. I
know you weren't.

[Dan] I can't believe
that went out so quick.

[Waz] Yeah. I'm
super surprised as well.

Took me a day and a half

to work out the
primitive fire stuff,

so I hope our fire's still going

so we can just start
those coals over.

This could be
viewed as a setback,

but we just got to get it done.

[Dan] Oh my [bleep] God.

[Waz] Our fire's still going.

[Dan] Good.

This thing here is a
godsend because otherwise,

we'd do a
primitive fire starter.

This is our last resort.

I think I got an ember.

Leave that fire just in case.

Everything is moist,
nothing's catching on fire.

No, I'm glad I had the
leather popped, absolutely.

We've wasted a lot of
energy having to go back.

We've got a huge extraction.

This could be
viewed as a setback,

but at the end of the
day, we had to do it.

[Dan] Not too much longer.

[Waz] Yeah, it's right up here.

If those coals don't make it,

I'm back to
primitive fire starting,

which would be terrible.

[Dan] Ready?

Got to be about halfway.

-[Waz] Yeah?
-[Dan] I think so.

It's tough keeping it alive,

but when you're failing that,

we're primitive fire starting
for the rest of the day.

[Waz] Yeah.

[birds chirping]

[suspense music playing]

[Waz] You good?

[Dan] Yeah.

[Waz] Backpack strap broke.

I'm gonna put my
stuff down up here.

[Dan] Hold on.

[Waz] Take your time.

Dan's got pretty much
0% body fat right now.

You know, just the fact
that we haven't eaten

for seven or eight days,

I don't know how his
body's gonna react

to that over a... over
a three-day extraction.

I think I'll have a little bit
more endurance than him

because I've got a little
bit more calorie storage.

I've still got some fat to go.

He's got no fat on him at all.

I've just got so
much more in my tank

than I think he's got.

-You good?
-I'm good.

[Waz] All right, buddy.

Look at this big,
open space, Dan.

[Dan] Yeah. I wonder
if there's a cave.

It's getting late and
we need to find a spot

to set up camp for the night.

All right. Well, let's
go up this ridgeline.

[Waz] Okay.

I wanna turn
these coals into fire

-pretty quick as well.
-[Dan] Yup.

Let's see what we have here.

It's dry, it's flat.

We're obviously both
gonna be laying on this rock,

probably head to head,

fire right here then.

It's not an easy hike.

It's very steep

and we're pretty exhausted.

So, as far as camping tonight,

one fire does make sense

so we can conserve the
most amount of calories

for whatever we
have to do tomorrow.

[Dan] It's a strong fire.

I don't think that's
going out any time soon.

[tense music playing]

[birds chirping]

It's the second
day of extraction.

Right now, there's
just a fog in the air.

Today's gonna
be a pretty big day.

[Dan] There's a lot of
pressure today, you know.

It's the day before extraction

and I wanna win.

A lot of pressure there.

I could be crowned
the top survivalist

in the world's toughest
survival challenge,

Naked and Afraid.

To be able to hold that title,

especially in my
community as a gay man,

it would mean so
much to so many people.

It would inspire so many people.

Representation matters
in these kind of situations.

It's something that
the world needs to see.

Loading up the coals?

Yeah, loading up the coals.

[Dan] Okay.

This coal is gonna be
crucial moving forward.

You ready?

Okay.

[Waz] All right. Let's do this.

[tense music playing]

[Waz] Let's see
what we have here.

[Dan] Navigate West
to find the tambuti trees.

Search above you to find
a critical survival resource.

Without this cache,
you'll be unable

to complete the
journey. [bleep].

[narrator] Day two of
their three-day extraction,

Dan and Waz
will continue to test

their endurance and navigation

with a five-mile hike

climbing over 600
feet in elevation.

On the way, they'll
also need to utilize

their plant knowledge
and ingenuity

in order to locate a
critical hidden cache.

[Waz] Let's see if
we can get there.

[Dan] Oh, it's been a
long journey already.

[Waz] According to my map,

it's right around
here somewhere.

We should see the tambuti trees,

so keep an eye out for them.

Pretty interesting bark.

Almost like a elephant skin.

Yeah. There's two
pretty big ones over here.

Let's go take a look at these.

These are tambuti trees.

Couple more down there.

Just a couple more up here.

[narrator] The survivalists
are on a hunt for a cache

hidden near this
cluster of tambuti trees.

Without this cache,

they will be unable to
continue the challenge.

It's pretty dense out here.

There's not one specific
tree we're able to pinpoint

that looks like the
one on this map.

[dramatic music playing]

[Waz] All right. I got it.

Yeah. I'm looking at
some arrows up the tree,

which I'm gonna need.

I just gotta get them down.

So, I'm gonna see... how.

I might go back and get
my machete real quick

'cause that's
gonna help me here.

-Got it?
-[Waz] Yeah.

I just gotta get my machete,
so I can cut the string.

I haven't found the second one.

[Waz] You on?

Looks a quiver with
some arrows way up there.

[Waz] I'm not an
amazing climber,

so this is gonna
be tough for me.

I probably should have
picked that other one

'cause I could have done
what Dan's doing now,

but I don't know
if I can do this.

What are the other options?

Careful, Dan.

Out of everyone that was here,

Dan's definitely the
strongest competition.

I'm no spring chicken anymore.

I'm 41. You know, I got...
I've still got a lot in me.

I got a lot of push,
a lot of motivation,

but, you know, I'm up against
someone who's younger.

He has a slight advantage.

He's good at climbing,

but my center of
gravity is really high.

I don't move across this ground

ever nearly as quick as him,

so it's not exactly
a fair match,

but I can make up that
time in other places.

Got a quiver.

All right.

There's a string holding it up.

I'm thinking about
I cut the string.

I thought about I
can get a long stick

and maybe see about
tying a machete or a knife

to the end of it.

[sighs] Got it.

Looks like we're gonna be
doing something with the bow.

It's a lot of work
to get up there.

I was nervous about this one.

Having this is critical to
getting out here on day 45.

The fact that I was
able to just pop up there

and get it so quickly makes
me feel pretty damn good.

All right. The sharpest
thing I've got is a broad head.

If I have to climb the tree
a little bit, I'll do that, too,

but as long as this reaches.

Once you've secured the cache,

continue west until you
reach the spring-fed ravine.

This is the last source
of water you will find

during this challenge.

Here, you'll make
the camp for the night.

All right. Just coming to pop
forward and look for a site.

Dan, I should have kept
looking and got yours.

[Dan] Huh.

'Cause I think you would've
been able to climb this,

you know. This is a little bit
out of my skillset, you know,

but I'll make this work.

There's more than one way

-to get a cache out of a tree.
-[Dan] There you go.

[Waz] Congrats, by the
way, buddy. That's good work.

[Dan] Thank you.

Maybe I'll continue
to check on my pot,

continue west.

You're leaving without me?

-[Dan] I can wait for you.
-No, no.

You do your thing.

I'm not trying to stick to
Waz since Waz isn't trying

to stick like glue to me,

but we're just doing what
makes sense at this point.

You know, we've played
the game of cooperation

and sharing along
the way so far,

but now it's time to compete.

I think the fact that I'm
a... I'm a little lighter.

I'm a little nimbler,
climb better,

that's a decided advantage.

But Waz has got

brute strength, great endurance.

He's a smart guy as well.

Might not be able to get
up there as easy as me,

but he's creative.

[Waz] One of my issues
is the string is not still.

I might be able to
go a little bit higher.

I'm not concerned about
separation from Dan.

I'm not really
surprised either though,

to be honest with you.

I help him find it.
He runs off on me.

Whatever.

It doesn't matter to me.

It's all about strategy.

[bleep].

We're not holding hands.
We're not walking together.

It's gonna be head-to-head.
We're gonna fight it out.

It's a tall order,

but I'm definitely
gonna get this one done.

[Waz speaking]

[suspenseful music playing]

[Waz] One of my issues
is the string is not still.

I might be able to
go a little bit higher.

Oh, yeah, baby.

Forty-one years old,

I probably shouldn't
be climbing trees.

I had to climb a little ways up,

but I saved myself
from going too far.

Sometimes you got
to think your way out

of your own problems.
There's more than one way

to skin a cat.

There's more than one way

to get arrows out of trees.

I'm definitely proud of myself

for having made it this far

through the... through
the competition.

I think if you hit anything
with as much mental

determination as I...
as I came into this,

you'll succeed.

And I came here to do a job.

I promised my missus I
was gonna get that job done

and I intend to
keep that promise.

I think I found it.

[Waz] There he is.

What's up, buddy?

There's a nice corkwood
tree down there.

I'm just gonna set
my stuff down here

and look around.

[Dan] There's a little
spring right there, Waz.

[Waz] How nice.

This spot up here is manageable.

Oh, I can do that. It's fine.

-We'll make it work.
-Yeah.

[tense music playing]

[Waz] I can't
believe we did it, bro.

Forty-five days.

[Dan] I know...

Sometimes, people
underestimate me.

I think people
underestimate me in...

primitive survival situations
in general because...

Maybe because of my sexuality.

I'm a little younger.

People underestimate me
'cause I ask a lot of questions,

but I'm always
out here to learn.

I'm out here to always be a
student, never be an expert.

And it's gotten me
here to this point,

one night away from
being the last one standing.

[laughs]

[Waz] I've never
underestimated you, Dan.

[Dan] Thank you.

[Waz] I overestimated
you a couple times.

[laughter]

[Dan] You [bleep].

[tense music playing]

-[Dan] Today's the day, 45.
-[Waz] Yeah, buddy, 45.

We're getting out of
here one way or another.

-[Waz] Yup.
-Someone's walking away

with a hundred grand.

-Mmm-hmm.
-Someone's walking away

with the title of
Last One Standing.

Yup.

Crossing my fingers.

Glad to be here with
you though, buddy.

Cross your fingers
with the one hand

and piss in the other one
and see which one works.

[Dan] A lot of these
competition's challenges

have come down to speed.

If it's some sort of foot
race to get to the top

of this thing, I
got Waz in a race.

No doubt. I'm quicker.

I think I'm younger,
more nimble.

If it... If racing and
speed is involved,

I'm gonna give it my
all. I came here to win.

There might be a bit
of smack talk coming.

A little bit.

[Waz] We have absolutely no idea

what this challenge is gonna be.

There's no way to guess it.

Every single survival
challenge we've done so far

has been leading
into the next phase.

So if it is a bow and
arrow competition,

I set up a target practice
at the last location,

with targets and I was
just training those targets

exactly where I was
looking for that arrow to go.

I was training them
yesterday, so, you know, we...

We've been pretty equal
in the past, but I think now,

I think I've just got this.

[narrator] Day 45,

the final day of
the competition,

the two remaining survivalists

begin their final ascent.

A steep 800-foot climb to
the top of the Oribi Gorge.

Before they reach the summit,

Dan and Waz will
need to complete

a critical skill
challenge that will test

their precision and
accuracy with a primitive bow.

[Dan] It would be the
area. This is a clearing.

[Waz] Yeah. It
looks nice and open.

-[Dan] Yeah.
-Let's follow this down

then, see where it leads us.

-[Dan] Oh. I see the...
-[Waz] Woo.

[Dan] I see the map.

-All right.
-[Waz] It is game day.

High in the branches above you

hang two final extraction maps.

From this mark, use
your bow and arrow

to strike the bag
and release a map.

Okay.

-Ooh.
-Oh, I see them.

[narrator] Primitive bow
hunting skills have proven

to be an invaluable asset

on previous Naked
and Afraid challenges.

[woman] You've got it.

Woo.

Good work, dude.

Yeah, baby.

Ugh.

[man] Good job, Wes.

We're eating klipspringer, cuz.

[narrator] To successfully
complete the bow challenge

and collect the final map,

each competitor must shoot
down one of the bags balanced

on the tree limb above

approximately 30 feet away.

[Waz] We're gonna hit that bag.

Yeah. Without this map,

you'll be unable to
complete the journey.

All right.

[tense music playing]

[Waz] Come on, man.

I'm standing next to someone
I'm competing for $100,000

and the title Last One Standing,

so the heart's racing.

The adrenaline's
pumping through the veins.

Pressure has increased...

[intense music playing]

I wanna see that one tiny fiber

right in the center of the bag

that I'm aiming for.

It didn't even budge.

-It didn't even...
-[Waz] Yeah, I saw that.

start to move over the edge.

I shot it right in the middle.

[tense music playing]

[Waz] Oh, I skimmed it again.

It did not budge at all, did it?

[Dan] I hit it twice.

[Waz] I seem to
be a little bit off.

I'm making
adjustments every shot,

but Dan's getting a couple

of shots, so I'm getting
a little bit nervous

and maybe that's making me...
making me miss some more.

Oh.

One, two.

-Oh.
-All right. Gotcha. Gotcha.

Good job, buddy.

[Dan] I'm so excited
to get this map and go.

It's just an
adrenaline-filled moment.

What I need right
now is an edge.

And now I have that.

I wanted to go out of this
first archery competition

with a head start 'cause
I know Dan can move

a little bit faster than me

and I'm already
at a disadvantage

and now I'm gonna be
at more of a disadvantage

if I can't knock this
bag out of the tree.

Jesus.

Take my time.

"You now begin the
final leg of your journey.

Navigate east and upward

to complete the thousand foot
climb to the top of the gorge.

Once there, you'll
signal for extraction."

All right.

[narrator] After completing
the archery challenge,

the survivalist must
finish the grueling climb

to the summit.

Along the way,

there is a single hidden cache

containing dry tender,

a potential advantage
for the one who finds it.

Once they reach the top,

they'll need to light three
fires, equally spaced,

indicating the international
sign of distress.

When the flames reach
at least two feet high,

it will signal for
rescue by helicopter.

The first to achieve
this will claim $100,000,

a PSR of 10.0, and the
title of Last One Standing.

[bleep].

I don't know why every
one of 'em's gone over.

I'm adjusting down every time.

[suspenseful music playing]

[Waz] Oh, you son of a bitch.

It's frustrating hitting the
bag and it doesn't come down.

I've got some through
and throughs on that thing.

I've got an arrow
sticking out of it

and it's still not coming down,

but I just gotta keep pushing.

I've got a few of
my arrows to go,

so I'll make it happen.

That would've hit
the bag as well.

This is ridiculous.

[exhales sharply]

All right.

I'm worried being behind.

Dan and I have the
same endurance level,

but he's a lot quicker
over the terrain.

He's a lighter weight.

He's more agile than I am.

Looks like we've got
some steep elevation

stuff happening here.

We have to go to
the top of the hill

and start three fires.

Getting anxious.

I just have to stay

in touch with Dan up this hill.

If he puts any more time on me,

then I'm gonna struggle
and I'm gonna struggle

to get him beat.

[Dan] Feeling full of energy.

I'm feeling motivated on top

of my mental game.

I'm ready to put
this one in the bag.

[Waz] See a little bit of smoke.

Just out of my view.

This is not good.

[Dan] All this
rain did not help.

No.

[Waz] This is the turning point

for this entire competition.

This is gonna separate
the men from the boys.

[narrator] For this
competition, the PSR,

or Primitive Survival Rating,

weighs an individual's
survival skill

and items collected to determine

the likelihood of becoming
the last one standing.

We're about to get
our asses kicked.

No.

Jeez.

[narrator] The grueling
primitive fire challenge

pushed the five
elite survivalists

to their breaking point.

[cries] Everything's prepared.

Just need a coal.

[narrator] Throughout the
last one standing challenge,

Gary proved his mettle.

[woman] Oh, my God.

[narrator] But
creating primitive fire

proved too much.

My stomach got a cramp in it.

[narrator] Dropping
his PSR from 9.1 to 9.0.

[Steven] Tried nine fire boards,

eight different
woods for spindles.

[narrator] Steven,
for the first time,

could not finish a challenge.

I gave it everything.

[narrator] His tap-out drops
his PSR from 9.5 to 9.3.

[Jeff] Come on.

[narrator] Jeff pushed himself,

but was unable to
secure fire by sunset

on the third day of
the fire challenge.

[Jeff] Never give in,

never give in.

[narrator] And was eliminated,

holding his PSR at 9.3.

For Dan.

Oh, my God.

[narrator] And Waz.

[bleep].

[narrator] Their
skill at creating fire

raises both of their PSRs to 9.6

and they will enter
the final challenge

with a chance to
earn a perfect 10.0.

Woo. All right.

[Waz] This is not good.

[narrator] For additional
PSR information,

[dramatic music playing]

[Waz] If Dan puts
any more time on me,

then I'm gonna
struggle to get him beat.

I'm gonna push it as hard
as I can and see what comes.

[Dan] I have no idea
what the next cache is.

It's a little ominous
on the map.

It says that getting this
cache will aid your quest.

So, I have to find it first.

[Waz breathes heavily]

I keep seeing whiffs
of Dan's smoke

motivating me to keep pushing.

I've been out here 45 days

and I'm just running
on fumes and adrenaline

at this point.

It's right around
here. I know it.

All right. I gotta climb.

I can climb up.

Found something.

At this point, I'm worried that

to find this cache,
it'd cost me my lead.

Waz is right on my trail now.

[intense music playing]

Got it.

[Waz] What you get up there bud?

[Dan] Love Waz,
but this is the moment

we're going head
to head for $100,000.

What'd you get up there?

A little [indistinct]

I know Waz is a fire master.

That is his main big skill.

So, I have to compete with that,

which is pretty intimidating.

I don't know if I can
see anything else.

There might just be one.

I'd made the strategic decision,

I'm gonna go straight
to the top of that hill.

I don't know if there's
any others up there.

I'm just gonna push and I'm
just gonna make do with that.

I gotta light these fires.

I'm gonna get that fire
started without the cache.

That's not a problem at all.

I don't need that
cache to start a fire.

[Dan] Oh, these embers.

Gave me a fire pit.

My pot is getting hot.

The leather that I put around it

to protect myself from the heat

is starting to melt.

[bleep].

I realized that I lost
my tinder bundle.

I run back and notice that
Waz is right on my trail.

[breathes heavily]

[Waz] He's back
ahead of me again.

I think I passed him
for a minute or so,

but he pushed past me again.

[breathes sharply]

I'm strong and I'm nimble,

I'm light, and I
can move quickly.

So, I know I can beat
Waz to this location.

[Waz] My legs are jelly,
my legs are burning.

I'm trying to take deep breaths.

Not getting enough oxygen in.

You got one chance at this,

you gotta keep putting
one foot in front of the other.

And I'm starting
to close that gap.

[breathes heavily]

[tense music playing]

[Dan] Finally, I see
the three signal fires

that I have to light.

I have a bunch of
tinder in my pocket.

I have fire bundles.

I even have little
pieces of pitch wood,

so I'm feeling pretty good.

But Waz is not far behind me.

This is the moment,
the test of our skills.

It's going to
determine who wins.

[Waz] I'm thinking
about strategy

as I'm coming up the hill.

I know I've got
three fires to light.

Now, if I just work
on one fire at a time,

then when I get
to the second fire,

I gotta start from scratch.

So I came up with a strategy.

I'm gonna put a
little pile of coals

at the bottom of each one.

There's lots of
dead grass up here

so I'm gonna collect that and
put that on top of the coals.

And each fire is gonna be
sort of starting and starting

to burn as I'm running around

collecting wood.

[intense music playing]

[Waz] I have to dance
between the three fires.

And that's okay. I knew it
what was gonna happen.

Jesus, this wind.

[Waz speaking]

All right.

Come on.

I'm just focused on
what I'm trying to do

right now, which is be
the last one standing.

I don't have a second to
spare and look over at Waz

and figure out what he's doing.

[suspenseful music playing]

[Dan] I got fire going.

First one.

Thank, God.

[Waz] Mmm-hmm.

[narrator] Blowing
through an arrow delivers

a more focused stream of oxygen,

helping the fire to
burn hotter and faster.

[exhales sharply]

[Dan] So I'm having
a little trouble,

but I get some
materials to go back,

look over and Waz is doing good.

[coughing]

[suspenseful music playing]

Getting so close.

All three.

[intense music playing]

[bleep] yes!

[screams]

Yeah!

Come on!

[Dan] You got it?

You got it.

You deserve that, buddy.

Come here. Come here.

Ah.

[bleep].

You did it.

You [bleep] did it, buddy.

[laughs]

[Waz] Yeah!

[Dan] You did that fast.

Yes!

Woo!

Yes!

Woo!

Being the last one standing

and then walking away
with that prize money,

it means more to
me than the world.

It's an amazing feeling.

Being the first person
ever to be able to say

last one standing,

being the first person

ever to get a PSR of 10,

you know, that's
bragging rights forever.

You can cry now.

[screams]

[Waz] Did I promise my
missus I'd do everything I can?

You did!

Yeah.

Laura, Taylor, and Bailey,

they've been with
me the whole time.

They're giving me motivation.

Send me love and support.

[Dan] Huge. This is big.

The attribute, the
success in this arena,

a sort of a culmination
of everything I've done

on Naked and Afraid.

This is gonna go
into the crawdad trap.

Ooh. Looks like we've got a cup

of crawfish in there.

-You got it?
-I've got its head.

I've got its head.
I've got its head.

-Yeah.
-[laughs]

[Waz] I think I'm the same
person I was in the Amazon.

I think I'm the same person I
was in Montana and Florida.

This is definitely something
I'm proud of, the fact that,

you know, I was
running that course

and stayed true to myself.

To say there's only one winner,

well, there's one
last person standing,

but that doesn't mean
there's only one winner

because if someone
conducting themselves in a way

that set an example for people

watching at home of how to
be good and how to be kind,

and how to help people,
and have compassion,

then you can walk home

without the $100,000
and still be a winner.

Woo!

I'm not the last one standing.

I'm not walking away
with $100,000 right now,

but I have no disappointment
in me in this moment,

which is wild.

This is a culmination
of so much work.

It all comes to a head right now

and it's just like it's an
intense emotional moment.

I put literally everything
I have into this

and I'm proud of what
I've accomplished.

I'm proud to be
here in the final two

and I'm proud to watch Waz

extract in that helicopter.

Yes.

Oh, this is absolutely amazing.

My mind is blown.

I've been in this
gorge for 45 days

and now flying
over in a helicopter,

last one standing.

Absolutely, I'm on top
of the world right now.

I've been away from my missus,

away from my kids for 45 days

without any contact with them.

And this makes
every second worth it

where I just spent the
last 45 days surviving

with my friends, with my...
with my other competitors.
