XIII: The Series (2011–…): Season 1, Episode 3 - Lockdown - full transcript

Previously on "XIII"

Your name is
Ryan Flay.

His father died, adopted by
somebody from out of town--

We all lost touch
with him.

I knew who you were as soon I
heard your voice.

He sounded like me?

XIII is on the move.

The game I'm playing
is too big to

risk it being derailed by
some brain-damaged ex-spy.

You play a major role
in this, Giordino.

But only if
I get back in power.

The information about the
weapon is not complete.

XIII's amnesia might be
as much a fabrication

as everything else about him.

He might have been programmed
to commit actions against the U.S.

One of the files seems to have
been split into two or more parts.

He believes by letting XIII
retrace his past life,

it might lead him to
the missing data.

I know you have
a history with XIII.

Remember which side
your loyalties are on.

I am the only one
you can trust.

You don't know who I am,
or what I've done.

Ryan Flay was
a model student.

Your tuition was paid
by a company.

Transcom, which is definitely a
front company for the CIA.

People don't disappear
from the CIA for five years.

That's what
CIA thought.

Alto!

Drug buyer: Policia!

Alto!

Alto! Policia!

I was a secret agent,

betrayed by my own people,

robbed of my face,
my memories, my history.

Hidden in my past,

is a secret that
threatens all humanity.

I search for answers with
nothing to hold on to

but a tattoo that has
become my name.

I am XIII.

You are american.

You know I've always
wanted to visit America,

to see New York City,
Hollywood. Nice places.

Even your prisons,
I see them on TV and,

to me they look clean and
new and I think to myself--

Is this a prison?

No.

This is a prison.

You're going to have a
very bad time in here.

And if you cause
any trouble for me,

you don't know
how bad.

Any questions?

Yeah, how do I get--

Ugh!

Ugh--

Any questions?

No.

Trafficking in cocaine,

resisting arrest,

assaulting police officers.

You're going to have
thirty, forty years to

think maybe this wasn't
such a good idea.

He's here
Mr. President.

I understand you had an
interesting trip to Green Falls.

Wasn't too hard to figure out
from the photo you gave me.

I'm sure you're anxious to
discover more about yourself.

I'm working on it.

Well...

Let me help
you out some more.

Who am I looking at?

Miguel Santos.

He was your trainer.

And your handler after the
C.I.A. recruited you.

It's all in there.

Turns out that "blank spot" in
your file wasn't so blank after all.

So what was I
working on?

I'm afraid Mr. Santos is the only
person left alive who can answer that.

So why aren't you
talking to him?

Read the file.

You're not getting
what's on that chip.

I'm not asking
it for it.

When you finally do discover
who you really were,

you'll understand that you and
I have a lot in common.

And I could use a man
like you on my team.

Hmmmm...

You were a handsome
young student.

What does that make me now
with my second new face?

Hmmmm...

Different.

Different
but still handsome.

I did some checking.

Seems Santos was working for
Transcom five years ago.

The time when
your file went blank.

His file says he was an
"export consultant."

Wonder what my
official title was.

Where is he now?

Los Teques prison,
Venezuela.

What are you
thinking?

I'm thinking about some
face-time with Miguel Santos.

Well you can't just
go visit him.

Visit? No...

Then what are you
talking about?

Getting inside.

How?

How most people
get in.

There's a beach
down there--

Catia La Mar.

It's a notorious spot
for low rent tourism

and more importantly,
drug dealing.

You're going to get yourself
arrested for buying drugs?!

Not buying...selling.

With enough product on me
to get thrown into Los Teques.

This is crazy.

Santos is the only
lead I have right now

about what happened to me during
those five years my file went blank.

There has to
be another way.

Why can't you ask the
President to help you?

I don't think Hugo Chavez
owes him any favors.

And I don't think
Sheridan owes you any.

I don't trust him
either, but...

I know he still wants
what's on that chip.

And he's not going to
screw me and risk losing it.

Then I'm going
with you.

Sam--

What if you need things when you're
inside, money, supplies, information?

But--

I know it's
dangerous!

You are dangerous!
I get it, okay?

But there are things
you don't about me.

Okay--

You can't do this
alone, I can help.

That's what people who care
about each other do, okay?

So unless you plan to
chain me up here--

Sam--

Okay.

Good.

I don't know how
you drink that stuff.

Tastes like
cough syrup.

My palate is more
refined than yours.

Besides,
it's Italian.

Reminds me
of home.

How can you
drink that?

Irish Whiskey?

Maybe it reminds me
of home.

Someday you will know
for sure.

Al nostro viagio.

Bon voyage.

Levantate!

Hey!
Pss Pss!

Welcome to
your new home.

Buena suerte.

You're going to
need it.

Hey, hey, hey!

America's not too
popular in here.

Yeh, well I wasn't hoping
to win any contests.

That's funny,

maybe we put that
on your gravestone.

Look, I don't want any trouble,
I just want to do my time.

Que pena hermano.

Because there's nothing
but trouble in here for you.

Maybe we can
work something out.

My girlfriend's coming
to visit me in an hour.

Girlfriend.

How does she look?

Like a couple
hundred dollars.

U.S.?

How are you doing?

DVD in our cell's
broken.

I'm okay.

Did you have any
problems getting in?

The warden's office granted me
"priority visitor access".

How much did that cost?

Two hundred.

Did you get the rental car?

I hacked the GPS
like you showed me.

Have you figured out how
to get out of here yet?

I have some ideas,
but right now

I've got to concentrate
on getting to Santos.

Don't take too long. If
anything goes wrong,

not even Carrington will
be able to help us.

Hey. Nothing's
gonna go wrong.

I need my allowance.

Come here.

Alright...

Come back tomorrow.

I should have what
I need by then.

Okay.

This is a good start
to our relationship.

You with us now,
"Incas Trece".

This side and the halls,
they're ours.

That side and behind
"Lob Hombres".

Behind the kitchen and past
the courtyard - "Sangre Caliente",

those guys are
crazy bastards.

Mira. Next week,
you get a discount.

You learned your Spanish
in Costa Verde.

Maybe.

Not "maybe".

You don't learn
that accent in a book.

It's a dangerous
place.

You know a guy named
Miguel Santos?

What do you want
with Santos?

A guy I know said he might
be the only man

who'd keep
me alive in here.

Considering what
happened,

I see I'm gonna need all
the help I can get.

Armando put him on
double work duty.

He's too old--

Don't keep up
with the rest of the crew.

If Santos was here, he
wouldn't let that happen.

He's not here?

Santos, is a great man
a revolutionary.

Led demonstrations
against the government.

He said in this prison
we're all one gang.

Last week
they took him away.

Said he was crazy,
needed "treatment".

To us, he's
still a hero,

no matter where
they put him.

When Santos first got here,

he brought us together,
against Armando,

the guards, the things
they do to us.

When they first put him
in the ward

you could hear
his screams for days.

Now anybody
makes a move,

they're afraid to
end up just like him.

Catch me up to
speed, Frank.

He's being held in
Los Teques prison

awaiting trial
for trafficking cocaine.

What is he really
doing there?

We're not sure yet.

Find out.

You're gonna have
to do some damage control

before I tell the President.

I'm on it.

Giordino.

XIII's inside.

And Amos?

He just left.

Does he suspect anything?

Don't worry,
Amos is clueless.

Zach!
Not cool.

Don't underestimate
Amos, Frank.

I need that Intel.

If Rhino talks to them, I could
be implicated in that arms deal...

And so could you.

But I had nothing
to do with it.

That's not what
the records will show.

Remember, it was my people

who planted Santos'
information into XIII's file.

It wouldn't be difficult to
plant another name...

...someplace else.

I'll take care of it.

What else do we
know about Santos?

He was working
with the Agency.

We were supporting
him clandestinely,

trying to stir up
trouble for Chavez.

He was also one our most important
sources of intel on arms dealing

in South America until he
got busted for organizing

an anti-government
demonstration two months ago.

What's his connection
with XIII?

They were both on the
Transcom payroll.

We believe they were
working together.

So how the hell did XIII
find out about this?

Someone with clearance
must've helped him out.

What are you implying?

You spend an awful lot of
time by his side, Ms. Jones.

I was asked to keep an eye
on XIII by Director Amos

and the President of the
United States.

Enough!

We have a tenuous situation here,
but there may be a silver lining.

Rhino.

Who is Rhino?

Rhino was the code name

for the largest underground arms
dealer in South America.

He recently ran into trouble
with his own people

and reached out to us about
making a deal.

What does this have
to do with XIII?

Rhino and Santos
have a history.

They were working together
when Santos was busted.

We don't know where Rhino is,
which means he's holding all the cards.

He's demanding money
and immunity.

So if we find him, then we
can call the shots on the deal.

Exactly.

We're gonna need someone down
there to manage the situation.

I'll make the arrangements.

Agent Jones will help you.

The President's gonna want
someone who

actually cares
about XIII's safety on this.

And Giordino,
don't worry--

I got your back.

Muchas gracias.

Gracias.

Samantha Taylor?

Ahhhhh!

Shut up and move.

Let me go!

Good news,
I think you'll live.

Bad news, I get
to live out there.

Maybe should have
thought of that

before you
committed your crime.

You've got cells
in this ward.

Seems nice and quiet.

Guardia!

Si?

Who am I looking at?

Miguel Santos.

Vamos!

You weren't supposed
to be back 'til tomorrow.

Is everything okay?

Two C.I.A. agents grabbed
me off the street.

Why?

Santos was a C.I.A.
plant in South America.

They want you get some
information from him.

While I'm in here risking my
life, they decide to use me.

What do they want to know?

The location of someone
code-named Rhino.

Santos worked for him.

That's it?
That's all they want?

They said if you didn't
cooperate,

Frank Giordino would
make sure you didn't get out.

How do we know if you
give them the information,

they won't keep you
in here anyway?

Carrington wouldn't
let that happen - he owes me.

What if he doesn't
know you're here?

You can't trust
Giordino!

Why is this woman
down there?

She's not a pro.

She had no idea we planted
a microwire on her.

She's the one person he
trusts the most right now.

She could be trouble
for us.

What are we going to do?

If I can get access to Santos,
I'll give them the location.

They told me he's locked
in the Medical Ward.

They know?

What's the exact nature
of her relationship with XIII?

I don't know the
intimate details.

Why not? Isn't that
your job?

There are some lines
I don't cross.

Really?

I understand you crossed that
line with XIII some years ago.

They wanted you to
have this.

Said if you can be

at the Medical Ward Gate
at 2 a.m.--

"God" would perform
a miracle.

So, does he still
trust you?

I'm not sure.

I think you should go
down there and find out.

Hey. It's going to
be alright.

You keep saying that,

how are you going to
get out of here now?

Trust me--

This will all
be over soon

and we'll be back
at the shop drinking Barolo.

You hate wine.

I know.

Look. I can do this.

We can do this.

I will help you.

Just like we planned.

They're not holding
you in custody?

The Agents let me go after they
gave me the message for you.

So they can watch who you
talk to, where you go.

You're not the only
one who can improvise.

Sounds intriguing.
Same time tomorrow.

Thanks, hun.

I'll get on a flight after
we conclude the operation.

I have something I think
you might be interested in.

Giordino.

What's are status?

XIII's going to access
Santos at two a.m..?

I assume you he somebody
ready to take care of

our problem once you
find Rhino's location?

I have an asset in place.

Good.

Once that's handled,
our focus needs to be on

acquiring the information
on that chip.

I've already implemented
a new strategy

which I think will prove
very helpful in this matter.

Really?
Anything I should know about?

Probably better that
you didn't.

Better for you or for me?

Let's just say,
you have your secrets,

I have mine.

I hope your new strategy
goes a little deeper than

a futile attempt to
decode the information

you intercepted
from the photo shop.

It's XIII
and the chip he found.

And now we've got
it too.

Let me know when the situation
in Venezuela is handled, Frank.

I look forward to
your call.

What's our status?

Caracas satellite station

has the transmitter in
range and is homing in.

Like we discussed.

Five minutes to
two in Caracas.

Set. Go.

Okay, Miguel,
that's it.

Come on,
back to reality.

Come on--

I'm here to help you.

Miguel. Miguel,
Miguel, Miguel--

Shhh.
I'm with the C.I.A.

I'm here to help you.

C.I.A.?

They want to help you
get out of here.

But I need you to tell me
where I can find Rhino.

Rhino? Rhino?

Shh, shh, shh--
Where is he?

Avenida de las Palmas.

Where on Avenida
de las Palmas?

Cantina?
That's a restaurant.

Where does he live,
Miguel?

Encima de la cantina.

Above the cantina?

Is that apartments?

Come on, apartments?

Miguel.
You were with Transcom.

Transcom?

Transcom, with the C.I.A.

Transcom?

Transcom with Ryan Flay.

Ryan Flay, you
were his trainer.

Miguel, Ryan Flay. Look,
look look look look look.

Miguel, Ryan Flay.

Shame.

What?

Ryan Flay.

Shame.

Shame?
What do you mean shame?

Did Ryan do
something?

Did he do
something bad?

Shhhh,
sshhhh--

La guardia, la guardia.
Shhhh.

What are you doing here?

Giordino told me to come
down and see you.

Since when do you
work for Giordino?

Since Amos asked me to.

"Asked" you?

Look, I don't like it either,

but right now, Giordino's
calling the shots.

That's what you think.

What are you talking about?

I have the intel he wants.
What's he got to trade?

Your freedom.

I don't need his help.

Maybe not, but you're
not in this alone.

Sam?

Giordino can guarantee
safe passage.

He's watching right
now isn't he.

Your glasses?

Tell you what,
Frank--

I've got a question,
you answer it,

maybe I'll
help you out.

What is it,
Jones?

I'm listening.

I asked Santos
about Ryan Flay.

He kept saying "Shame".

What does it mean?

No idea.

I've got a couple more
questions for Santos.

After that,
I'm out of here.

We cannot get you back
into that medical ward.

Well I guess I'll just
have to do it myself.

Once Sam and I are safely
out of the country,

I'll consider giving up
Rhino's location.

But I don't work for free.

Hey!
Wait a minute--

Listen to me,
you are pushing your luck.

Just give us Rhino's location
and let me get you out of here.

I've got it covered.

Call the Venezuelan
Minister of the Interior.

Tell him that I'm passing
through and I'd like to

meet him to discuss SEBIN's
activities in Washington.

Have my plane ready
in an hour.

Lost his eye
from the beating.

He's lucky to
still be alive.

He should be
in a hospital.

We don't make the rules.

Well, maybe it's time
you started.

What do you
expect us to do?

What Santos would want you
to do if he was here!

This old man could
be any one of you.

You all act like
you're all bad asses--

But you're
cowards.

They beat the hell out
of you for no reason.

And when Santos
tries to help you,

they take Santos away
and they torture him.

You might as well be
spitting in his face.

You talk real big--

but I don't see you doing
anything about it.

WHACK!
WHACK!

What's going on?

A revolution.

CRASH!

CRASH!

Muchas gracias.

Hasta luego.

What's wrong?

There's a riot
at the prison.

It's Giordino.
Where's the girl?

Shopping in
the Plaza.

Shopping?

Stay with her.

This isn't right.

I need to lose my
Venezuelian handlers.

Follow me back to the hotel five
minutes after I've been dropped off,

meet me at the west side
of the parking structure.

Miguel!

I need to know about the man
in the picture I showed you.

Ryan Flay? You hired him.

Hired him? No.
He never worked for anyone.

He worked for you.
You worked both with the C.I.A.

C.I.A.?
No you're mistaken.

Vamos vamos!

You never worked
for the Agency?

Never.

Do you see him?

She still there?

Roger that.

Still have eyes on
Samantha Taylor?

Copy.

Take her.

I told you I could
improvise.

Giordino.

Where the
hell did she go?

Finally, civilization!

Could be worse.

We're lucky the car
didn't overheat earlier.

So how are we going
to get out of here?

It's not likely there's a lot
of rental car places around.

If Giordino is worth anything,
he'll have made arrangements for us.

Are you okay?

Yeah.

Sheridan set me up.

Santos didn't know anything

about recruiting
me or being my handler.

You went through all this
and still didn't get any closer.

I did find out
a few things.

I knew exactly what drugs
to use to make Santos lucid again.

I didn't have to
think about it.

And my Spanish accent
is from Costa Verde.

There's only one reason

the C.I.A. ever went to
that country.

I could have been
an interrogator.

Tortured people.

You can live the rest
of your life blind and crippled--

I don't know everything
about who you were.

But I know who
you are in here.

People can lose
their memories,

but they don't
lose their nature.

Chavez may be barring Pinera's
senators from entering the country

but he's still letting in
a damn fine Chilean red.

Join me.

I hate red.

Really?

You don't know
what your missing.

How about we get down to
business.

There are a handful of people
making false documents

and paying off border
guards in Venezuela.

Besides having dealt with my
organization at some point,

you know what they
all have in common?

They know you're
a deceitful bastard?

The highest
bidder.

You're resourceful,
I'll give you that.

But I've got
a lot more money.

So as you said let's
get down to business.

Tell me what
I want to know.

You want me to
trust you?

You want to get out
of this country?

We can make our way
on our own.

All it takes is one phone call,
and I guarantee

that not even you will be able
to cross the border.

Rhino's in an apartment
above Cantina Marisco.

Agent Jones will escort
you across the border.

I hope you can
trust her.

I can't wait to
get home.

You're booked on
an 8:00 pm flight

so you should be back
in New York by one.

Ok, hold on.

Money, now!

No problema--

No problema,
okay?

Looked like a robbery gone bad,
just like you wanted.

Good.

Your next target is in an
apartment above Cantina Mariscos.

I know the place.

I've always wanted
to bag a Rhino.

What the hell
happened down there?

Chavez is calling press
conferences accusing us

of putting a C.I.A. spy
in his prison

trying to start
a revolution.

XIII got into Los
Teques on his own.

When we found out, we tried
to turn him into an asset.

Who knew he'd start
a prison riot.

Agent Jones said he only

did that because you
boxed him into a corner.

With all due respect, Sir,

Agent Jones doesn't know what
the hell she's talking about.

I offered XIII a safe, discreet
option for exiting Los Teques.

He turned it down and decided
to do things his own way.

Why would he do that?

Because he wanted to keep the
intel on Rhino for himself.

What are you
suggesting?

It was a badly kept secret
that Rhino was talking to us.

The way my agents found him
could certainly suggest that

this was the people he was
about to betray sending a message.

And yes, they could've gotten

his location from
any number of sources.

But we cannot overlook the
fact that the only people privy to

that intel from Santos
were myself,

the agents I sent to
take Rhino in--

And XIII.

Why would XIII wanna
have him killed?

I don't know.

But you didn't send him to
that rendition camp to

rot in obscurity because you
had faith in his moral fiber.

You don't know what
you're missing.

My palate is more
refined than yours.

Excuse me.

How can you
drink that?

You hate wine.

Al nostro viagio!

Al nostro viagio...

I, uh--

I tried calling you.

I'm sorry.

I know how much
you cared about her.

Too bad I didn't care
more about her than myself.

That was not
your fault.

I let her go there
and help me.

And if it hadn't been for
Giordino, getting out of there

might not have gone
down the way it did.

I have to take some
responsibility for that.

He would have put me
in the same position

whether you were there or not.

Every time I look around
this place, all I think about is her.

Then maybe you
shouldn't stay here.

They know
where you are.

And I can find you a place
where you'll be safe.

A place that nobody knows
about, not Giordino,

not Amos, not even
President Carrington.

That is the least
I can do.

Why?

Because you need to
move on.

You need to keep
searching for
who you were.

That is what Sam
would have wanted.
