X-Men: Evolution (2000–2003): Season 3, Episode 13 - Cruise Control - full transcript

Taking a break from superhero duty, the X-Men (without Rogue and Berzerker) take a pleasure cruise.

[Xavier] Mesmero was just another puppet.
There was someone else pulling the strings.

A mind more powerful
than anything I have ever encountered.

The relic will help unleash the most
powerful mutant the world has ever seen.

You will know him as Apocalypse.

[groaning]

[groaning]

The girl is under Mesmero's control, Charles.

She attacked us to absorb our powers.

First, we must prevent Rogue
from securing the final key.

-In the likely event we fail...
-We find the door first and defend it.

-Rogue.
-Mesmero.

With Cerebro amplifying my powers,

I just may be able to interpret
the jumbled knowledge I took from him.

[ominous music playing]

I believe the door is housed
in an underground chamber.

-Hey!
-[Kitty] What's that?

We're trapped!

[Magneto] Pyro!

[dramatic music playing]

[all yelling]

[yelling]

[grunting]

Jean!

[theme music playing]

[dramatic music playing]

[grunts]

Nobody move.

Okay, nice and slow.
Let's find us a way out of here.

You got it!

[deep rumbling]

[dramatic music playing]

[cackles]

Jean. Jean, wake up!

Whoa.

Whoa!

Take it easy, Tank.
I said let me check it out first.

-What did you find?
-Nothing.

Just more tunnels.

I found the headset.
But it won't do us any good.

Then we must keep looking for the others.

Hello, Shadowcat.
Do you read? Anybody?

-We need to search for them.
-[Magento] No.

-We must not lose sight of the objective.
-Yes. He's right, Hank.

They've been trained to take care of themselves.

I'll send out a telepathic message
telling them all where to find us.

How is your ancient Egyptian?

Rusty, but I do recognize
some of these markings.

-Especially that one.
-[Magneto] Apocalypse.

And this speaks of an age

when the Pharaoh Rama-Tut
seemingly fell from the stars

and brought with him some kind of--
it doesn't translate.

Technology. I think.

Anyway, he used this as a source of power
to take control of the land.

During this time,
a mutant gray-skinned infant

was abandoned in the desert to perish.

[crying]

The child's cries were answered
when he was found by a tribe of bandits

ruled by a warrior named Baal.

He saw the power in the child
and took him as his own.

He named him En Sabah Nur,
which means "The First One."

Under Baal's protection and training,
Nur became a powerful warrior.

His speed and strength
were without equal.

No one could touch him.

He was a natural.

Rumors of En Sabah Nur's inhuman might
had reached the Pharaoh, Rama-Tut,

who saw Nur as a threat to his rule
and ordered his destruction.

[soldiers yelling]

In the end,
Baal and his army were defeated.

Only En Sabah Nur remained.

[yells]

Since nothing could withstand his wrath,

En Sabah Nur took the name Apocalypse.

They're mechanical!

[cackles]

I found a way out.
So let's finish these guys!

[dramatic music playing]

Whoa.

I'm-- I'm totally iced out.

[Pietro] Whoa!

[Jean] Scott!

-We're all right.
-Did you get the Professor's message?

Yes, he's somewhere above us.

Follow me! There's a tunnel!

Apocalypse hunted down the pharaoh,
who fled, never to be seen again.

Apocalypse then discovered
the source of Rama-Tut's power

deep within these chambers, a vessel.

And inside the vessel,
a device called The Eye of Ages.

He mastered the secrets
of this strange technology.

-To reshape the world in his own image.
-Mutants.

He was going to turn humans into mutants.
All humans.

[Hank] The Eye was powered
by Apocalypse himself.

But when he activated it,
his life force was nearly depleted.

It was then that he was betrayed.

Fearful of the future he planned,

his trusted council sealed him inside.

Apocalypse was entombed,
hidden in the highest reaches of the world.

Then locked behind three doors
in the hopes he'd never walk the earth.

-And?
-That's it. It just stops.

Then this isn't the tomb of Apocalypse.

And what's worse,
we have no idea where it is.

[wind rushing]

[growling]

[sniffing]

Three of them and since I can't detect
the third scent, it must be Mystique.

How about you guys stop sniffing everything
and just follow the footprints?

[suspenseful music playing]

[both screaming]

I think we're close.
Why don't you go up and join the professor?

-I'll look for the others.
-And leave you alone with Steel Face?

Forget it. He shouldn't be trusted.

Oh, he's not that bad.
Kind of a softy if you ask me.

He's just so quiet.

[both gasping]

I-- I grew concerned.

Oh, there you guys are.

[all yell]

[dramatic music playing]

[Hank] It does beg the question.

If Apocalypse is not entombed here...

-What lies within this chamber?
-Answers.

[ominous music playing]

Unbelievable.

-Rama-Tut's vessel?
-[Xavier] Yes, I believe so.

And to think it's been buried
under the Sphinx for over 5000 years.

-Looks like the base for the Eye of Ages.
-But where was it taken?

A cerebral interface.

-Perhaps this very vessel can tell us.
-That's risky, Charles.

Yes, I know
but I believe it is the only way.

[Logan] Hank! Hank, are you there?

I'm here. What's your status?

We've tracked Rogue to Tibet.

She's here with Mesmero and Mystique.

-They're in Tibet.
-Yes. The highest reaches of the world.

That's where Apocalypse is!

Wolverine, what are your exact coordinates?

Right. Makalu peak. Okay, got it.

Until we can get there,
stop them any way you can.

[all groaning]

Xavier's mental block
just saved our lives.

Especially yours.

Mesmero was telling me
to push you off the mountain.

Problem is, I'm still tempted.

[growls]

[Gambit] Do me a favor.
Why don't you both jump off the mountain?

[dramatic music playing]

[immense footsteps rumbling]

Whoa!

Whoa!

Yeah! What a team!

[ominous music playing]

The day has finally come,
great Apocalypse.

I now deliver the final key,
the shape-shifting mutant:

-Mystique!
-Huh?

[dramatic sting plays]

What do you mean I'm the key?

You told me Rogue was!

You are both needed in order
for Apocalypse to cross this threshold.

Listen, circus freak!

I agreed to bring Rogue here because
I was assured our futures would be secure!

Were you lying then too?

Apocalypse will not forget
those who are loyal.

Why didn't you just enslave me
like you did her?

Hmm. I was unable.
Your powers of control are formidable.

I'd advise you to remember that.

Now what is needed of me?

Upon entering through there,
you will find the engraved sign of Apocalypse.

Place your hand upon it
and the door will open.

[ominous music playing]

Huh?

[dramatic music playing]

[grunting]

[screams]

Fire in the hole!

Destiny has dealt its hand!
Do not interfere!

[growls]

[dramatic music playing]

This is a vessel.

It was built here on Earth ages ago.

Wait, ages from now?

It travels instantaneously.
I know how to operate it.

And I know where to take it.

[grunting]

Get aboard now!

[dramatic music playing]

[screeches]

[groaning]

[shouting]

[groaning]

[screaming]

[growls]

Rogue.

Huh?

[dramatic music playing]

[grunting]

[yells]

[dramatic music continues]

[grunting]

We... failed.

Yes.

Our greatest battle is just beginning.

[theme music playing]
