Has Major Trevor called in from
the field yet, Yeoman Prince?

No, sir. Not yet.

The maneuver exercise
should be completed soon.

Is something wrong,
General Blankenship?

Something could be very wrong,
and frankly I'm worried.

Steve may be in danger
and not even know it.

Danger?
I don't understand.

The FBI has proof that the top
Nazi spy ring, the Abwehr

is definitely active again
in Washington.

(Diana)
'But I thought that their
activity had stopped'

since Steve captured
their leader

the Baroness Von Gunther
and put her in prison.

That's why I'm worried.

The FBI's gonna fill me
in later.

But if those people
have reorganized

'then Steve could be
in great danger.'

Tell Steve I want to see him
the minute he gets back.

Yes, sir.
I'll get word to him right now.

[instrumental music]

[music continues]

This inactivity is maddening.

We should receive word soon,
Baroness Von Gunther.

Another walk around
the compound?

I suppose so.

What time is it, Hanson?

It's almost 16:00, Baroness.

The truck's due here
at 16:00 hours.

Our objective is to capture it.

Now, remember, the assumption
is, we're in enemy territory.

So when the truck stops,
move in fast.

Nobody fires
unless absolutely necessary.

Any questions?

Okay,
let's take our positions.

[engine revving]

[explosion]

[tires screeching]

[indistinct chatter]

You men, shore up
those front wheels.

I'm gonna try
and save this truck.

[instrumental music]

[engine revving]

Wonder Woman!
Am I glad to see you.

[rumbling]

Thanks.

[explosion]

What went wrong, major?

I don't know precisely.

But I just can't believe
it was an accident.

[intense music]

But I was ordered
to use that truck

as the object
of our training maneuver.

How could it possibly
be carrying weapons?

Not just weapons.
A top-secret shipment.

New rapid-fire rifles
for our troops overseas.

They were supposed
to be on their way

to the arsenal
at Fort Myer for dispersal.

The wrong truck was assigned
to me deliberately.

And I believe somebody tampered
with that axle pin

while it was being loaded,
somebody who'd knew

what was in that truck
and where it was going.

In other words, sabotage.

Brilliantly planned
and executed from the inside.

Perhaps, from right here
in the War Department.

(General Phil)
'Unfortunately, Steve, the FBI
believes the same thing.'

And it has information
implicating you.

Me? A spy?

[chuckles]

Somebody's gotta be kidding.

(General Phil)
'It's hardly a kidding matter,
Steve.'

Discrediting a famous
war hero like you..

...could deal a serious blow

to the morale
of the entire country.

But what proof do they have
to support such an accusation?

Enough for the Senate
to call a secret hearing.

Arthur Deal the third
is heading their committee

to investigate you.

The Arthur Deal,
the big steel magnate?

He was handpicked
by the president

because of his reputation
as a patriot.

Well, what about my reputation?

Doesn't that count
for something?

Unfortunately, Steve

the evidence
against you is serious.

Three other important
weapon shipments

have been sabotaged recently.

The FBI has established
that in each case

you were on the scene
or nearby.

I was always
on military business

under top-secret orders.

Yes, and Arthur Deal
has requested copies

of all those secret orders.

I've asked Diana
to pull that file.

[instrumental music]

There's no trace of those
top-secret orders anywhere.

But they have to be here.

I know I filed them, but I can't
even find the folder.

[telephone rings]

Major Trevor's office.
May I help you?

(Arthur on phone)
'Put the major on, at once.'

Someone wants to speak
to you urgently.

Major Trevor speaking.

I've got some valuable
information for you, major.

About that army weapons truck
that was sabotaged yesterday.

- What about it?
- The axle bolt was unscrewed.

- Who is this?
- 'If you want information..'

(Thor on phone)
'About who sabotaged
the other three shipments..'

...come to the Old Virginia
Stables

on the Fort Myer road.

How do I know
you're on the level?

(Arthur on phone)
'How about if I give you
back the copies..'

'...of those top-secret orders
you're searching for?'

The stables in an hour, major,
and come alone.

I'll be waiting.

[intense music]

- Anyone important?
- Yes, I think so. An informant.

Claims he knows something
important about the sabotaged

weapons shipment.

And he has the missing orders.

He wants me to meet him
at the Old Virginia Stable

near Fort Myer.

No. It's too dangerous.

It could be a trap
or an ambush.

Either way, it's dangerous.

War is dangerous, Diana.

I guess this man
is my only chance.

He may offer a link
to the sabotage ring.

Steve?

Be careful.

I will.

- 'Yeoman Prince.'
- Yes, general?

Have you been able to find
the files for Major Trevor?

Um, no, sir. Eh, I-I've looked
everywhere. They're gone.

Major Trevor seems
to think that..

'That they may
have been stolen.'

(General Phil)
'Well, keep looking,
without those orders'

'Steve has no proof
of his innocence.'

Hello, Baroness Von Gunther.

Major Trevor.
What a pleasant surprise.

Thank you, Baroness, this
is my secretary Yeoman Prince.

- How do you do?
- Hello.

[Baroness gasps]
Hey, what is it?

Well, just a little dizzy spell.

I've been feeling
rather ill lately.

Oh, thank you,
you're so kind.

I suppose you're wondering
why I'm here.

Well, I'm just grateful to have
such a distinguished visitor.

Why did you come to see me?

I need some information
and I think

you might be able
to give it to me.

That is, if you feel well enough

to answer a few questions.

What do the questions concern?

The Abwehr. It's been very
active in this area lately.

The Abwehr spy organization
doesn't interest me anymore.

And neither does the Nazi cause.

I find that hard to believe.

(Baroness)
I suppose it is.

People change in prison.

The loneliness, the isolation.

I've done a lot of thinking
behind these walls, major.

And a lot of reading.

"The Principles Of Democracy."

That you've been wrong.

[sighs]
Y-Yeoman Prince
is very hard working

and totally loyal.

It's too bad you don't know
the history of this.

It's probably fascinating.

Really?
What makes you think so?

Well, I saw metal castings
like this

when I was traveling
in Europe before the war.

- Exactly like that?
- Very close.

They were keys,
a medieval variety

invented by Austrian
metal craftsmen.

Isn't that a fascinating
coincidence?

About the Abwehr.
What was it you wanted to know?

Whatever you can tell me

about their sabotage methods,
techniques..

Thanks to you, Wonder Woman.

Why did you climb up
that ladder?

I was trying to get up
to the tower.

I saw somebody up there
last night

flashing signals with a light.

Did you see who it was?

No, but I thought maybe I'd get

his fingerprints
and find out.

But I forgot my kit.

And in 1933, the Abwehr
used propaganda methods.

- Articles, editorials.
- Yes, yes, Baroness.

Uh, key names,

That's all I know, major.

I told you,
I've blocked the Abwehr

out of my mind completely.

Excuse the interruption, major,
but it is almost time

for the prisoners'
daily exercise drill.

Of course, if you're not through

No, no, no.
It's quite alright.

Uh, where's Yeoman Prince?

She went outside
to get something from the car.

I wonder what's keeping her.

Oh, well, we're finished here.

We'll run into her
on the way out.

- Baroness.
- Major.

[intense music]

Is your lasso really magic?

Yes.
It has a certain great power.

It forces people
to speak only the truth

when they're bound with it.

Wow! I wish I had one.

You know, that'd be perfect
for detective work.

I haven't got time
to get my lasso now, Tommy.

Will you pry it loose
and take care of it

for me till I come back?

It'll be our secret.

Sure, Wonder Woman.

Thank you.

- Steve.
- Oh, there you are.

I'm really sorry,
but I couldn't

to the cell block.

You shouldn't have been
wandering around here alone.

Well, at least you're safe.

Yes, but I couldn't
even take notes for you.

Heh. There was nothing to take.
The Baroness was not much help.

In fact, she told me very little
I didn't already know.

Frankly, Steve, she doesn't seem
to be completely sincere.

I just don't think
she's a very trustworthy woman.

I'm sure you're right,

Yes, Baroness.

- Good evening, Thor.
- Good evening, Baroness.

I was surprised
to get your message.

It's unwise to contact me so
soon after a sabotage incident.

It was unavoidable.
Something urgent has come up.

It concerns Steve Trevor.
He came to visit me today.

Oh, what did he want?

Information about Nazi spy
activities near the Fort.

He feels
they've increased recently.

Hmm. That is disturbing.

Do you suppose he suspects you
of being connected with them?

Oh, I'm sure of it.

He even recognized
this as a key.

Well, obviously you didn't
handle him very well.

Couldn't you, uh, divert his
suspicions with your charms?

Or wasn't he susceptible
to them?

That has nothing
to do with it.

We have spent weeks
making Steve Trevor

look like a double agent.

Our operatives
have arranged to place him

at the scenes of three
different sabotage incidents.

He was even present
when the truck

carrying rapid-fire rifles
was destroyed.

All copies of his top-secret
orders are in our possession.

And we have leaked incriminating
evidence about him to the FBI.

But all our careful work

will be undone
if he discovers the truth.

I'm aware of that, but
everything was running smoothly

until the incident
at the stable.

That was your error.

Somebody helped him get away.

(Baroness)
'Well, at least we agree
on that.'

And I'm convinced
it was Wonder Woman.

Wonder Woman?

What makes you think that?

I saw her talking
to the warden's son

at the prison today
while Trevor was there.

I've heard,
she pays close attention

to the major's activities.

This may be serious,
it could interfere

with the second phase
of our plans

to sabotage
the next big rocket shipment.

Have you found out
when the shipment leaves

Fort Myer for overseas?

In two days. We can't have
Trevor snooping around.

It's too risky.
Somehow, we have to stop him.

Why not capture him?

We can change our plan
and make it look as if

he defected to the Nazi cause.

Perhaps, we can even arrange
to have him present

when the rocket shipment
is destroyed.

Excellent.

Then he'll be blamed
for that too.

It will thoroughly discredit
the American war hero

even sooner than we planned.

The problem is how to catch him.
It won't be easy.

He'll be doubly cautious after
the incident at the stable.

We won't have to catch him.

He'll come to us.
I'll arrange it.

There must be no doubt
of his guilt.

There won't be,
not after we leave his body

at the scene of the sabotage.

Ah, yes. His all-American body.

Splendid.

You wanted to see me, general?

I have bad news, Steve.

Arthur Deal has had
your special hearing moved up.

It's scheduled for tomorrow.

And unless you can
prove your innocence

they'll place you under house
arrest to await court-martial.

We can't let that happen,
general.

There's too much at stake.

If this sabotage isn't stopped

every important weapon shipment
in the area could be destroyed.

Arthur Deal has offered
to meet with you tonight.

Listen to what evidence
you have.

If you can convince him
of your innocence

he may postpone the hearing.

- Well, it's worth a try.
- Absolutely.

He's expecting you at his
Arlington estate in an hour.

I've done everything I can,
Steve.

I'm afraid it's up to you now.

- Good luck.
- Thank you, general.

You're a good boss
and an even better friend.

[instrumental music]

What are you reading, Tommy?

"The Hound
Of The Baskervilles."

Sherlock Holmes
was almost killed

solving that case, wasn't he?

Have you read
Sherlock Holmes too?

Oh, I used to before
I came here.

He's my favorite detective.

Do you believe in him? I do.

Father says it's just a story,
but I think he was real.

Oh, of course he was.

Why,
he's as real as Wonder Woman.

And she's one
of my closest friends.

- She is?
- Yes.

As a matter of fact, I got
a message from her this morning.

- 'It's a message for you.'
- Honest? What is it?

She wants to be sure
you're taking good care

of the Golden Lasso.

Oh, I am.
It's in a real safe place.

Good.

Do you know
how to make it work?

(Tommy)
'When people are tied with it'

they have to tell the truth.

It makes 'em.

Are you sure
it's in a safe place?

Maybe you should
check on it again, Tommy.

It's very valuable.
You can't be too careful.

Okay. I'll go right now.

- Follow him. Quickly.
- Yes, Baroness.

[intense music]

Thank you for seeing me,
Mr. Deal.

I appreciate it very much.

I try to keep an open mind,
major.

Now, how about these, uh,
sabotage incidents?

The Abwehr must be responsible
for them, Mr. Deal.

And I'm sure they're planning
a large-scale incident

in the near future.

Against, uh, what objectives?

Well, I don't know yet.

But I'm convinced
that Baroness Von Gunther

is the key
to the entire operation.

[scoffs]
Hasn't she been in prison
for months?

Supposedly, yes.
A perfect cover.

Cover?
What makes you suspect that?

Something she was wearing
when I questioned her.

Now, she called it a pendant.

But I remember now, it's really
an ancient Austrian gate key.

'I saw a number of them in, uh,
a museum'

'in Europe before the war.'

You have a, uh, remarkable
memory for details, major.

Go on.

Well, I'd be willing to bet..

...that that key
opens a secret door

in the prison wall somewhere.

One that leads outside.

And the Baroness uses it
whenever she wants..

...with the help
of a confederate on the inside.

Which accounts for the renewal
of Abwehr activity.

How clever of you to recognize

the key, major. Darling.

And you're right
about the door too.

It was built years ago
by Austrian immigrants.

And it's an important part
of our plan.

A very important part.

Hands up, major.

(Baroness)
'This time, major..'

...you're in a fix even your
friend Wonder Woman can't undo.

[intense music]

I'm sorry to disturb you
so late, Arthur.

I'm trying to get in touch
with Steve Trevor.

(Arthur on phone)
'Haven't you heard from him?'

Well, not since he left
for his meeting with you.

How odd.
He left here several hours ago.

Said he was going directly back
to your office.

That's strange.

Uh, tell me, Mr. Deal,
after meeting with Major Trevor

face-to-face,
can you doubt his innocence?

General, after meeting him

I am more convinced
of his guilt than ever.

(General Phil on phone)
'Well, I'm sorry to hear that,
I hope after'

'the testimony
at the hearing, uh..'

'...you'll change your mind.'

I just hope
Trevor shows up tomorrow.

Sounds to me as if he realized
he's been discovered

'and has gone A-W-O-L.'

'Goodnight, general.'

What is it, general?

It's very serious, Diana.

Steve does seem to be missing.

And Arthur Deal
is convinced of his guilt.

Steve may be working
on that theory

that he spoke
of to save himself.

But he should have told me.

I'll wait until midnight

and then I'll institute
a search.

We've got to find him
before that hearing tomorrow.

And the door too!

Pretty smart, kid..

'...but not smart enough.'

There's an important shipment
of rockets

on the Fort Myer
wharf right now.

Ready to go overseas
to knock out key Nazi targets.

That was the American plan.

My plan is altogether different.

Just what is your plan,
Baroness?

Nazi spies are wiring
the wharf with dynamite.

'We're going to take you there,
Wonder Woman.'

'You and Major Trevor.'

- Now, doesn't that sound cozy?
- If it works.

Of course, it will work.

And after the shipment
is blown up..

...your bodies will be found
by the blasting lever.

Two spies who died
for the Nazi cause.

Let Tommy go.
He has nothing to do with this.

He'll be released.
After our plans are carried out.

And I'm on a U-boat
in the Atlantic..

...safe from your democracy.

We've completed
the all-night search, warden.

The Baroness is no longer
in the prison compound.

That's impossible! No woman
could climb these walls!

Warden, I went to wake up
your son like you asked.

'He's no longer in his room.
I can't find him anywhere.'

My son missing?
I can't believe it!

Hanson's missing too, sir.

He never showed up
for his search detail.

The Baroness,
Tommy, and now Hanson.

Well, where could they go?
How could they get out?

This is Tommy's.

He calls it his
detective casebook.

"Case of the old tunnel.

"Clues.
Magic stone near old well.

Signal lights. Rusty door
in wall. Hooded cloak."

A secret tunnel.

Perhaps,
there really is such a tunnel.

The prison
has been thoroughly searched

and this is what Tommy
was talking about.

Start searching
the base of the prison wall.

- Search for what, sir?
- A hidden tunnel, what else?

'And hurry!'

[intense music]

It is real,
my boy was telling the truth

and I didn't believe him.

"Packard,
license number 23605."

Have that number traced
and report back to me.

- Yes, sir.
- Uh, use the secret passage.

- It's faster.
- Yes, sir.

Search the brush.

[music continues]

Untie him. He'll ride with us.

- What about her?
- Throw her in the trunk.

And take care of the child.

Tommy, your father

And, so, Wonder Woman
captured the Baroness.

Fortunately, the missile
shipment is now safe.

Good show. I'd like to have seen
Wonder Woman in action.

I bet the Baroness
didn't enjoy it much.

[all laughing]

The Baroness won't enjoy much
of anything for quite a while.

She's in solitary confinement.

And so is Arthur Deal and
Hanson, awaiting a fair trial.

(Diana)
'Well, I certainly hope
that the Baroness realizes'

freedom and democracy
are the only causes

worthy of her intelligence.

You're right, Diana.
What a waste.

It's hard to believe.

Arthur Deal, a traitor.

It seems the Nazis
are capable of almost anything.

I did some research
about Arthur Deal

and it seems that he's
a victim of his own avarice.

But perhaps, he too,
can learn from his experience.

(Steve)
'Uh, Diana, your understanding
and compassion are amazing.'

You really do believe

Yes.
