The party turns deadly, causing the police to arrive; Ramsey and Garrett engaged with something strange in the woods; the pack visits a former firefighter, Malcolm, to get answers about the wildfire.

- All Ramsey saw was
the blood on the tree.

- It's there.

[breathing heavily]

- There's nothing in the pool.

- It's not in the pool
anymore. It's right outside it.

- The wall.

Look at the stone wall
around the hot tub.

[tense music]

- I don't see shit.

- Where?

- You see the Buddha?
Right behind it.

[all gasp]

- Oh, shit.
- [gasping]

[frightened whispering]

- What the fuck was that?

- I told you it's out there.

There's something out there.

- It wasn't a possum.
- It had dark fur,

and its eyes were
reflecting the light.

Maybe we should all get
away from the doors.

[indistinct murmuring]

- [breathing shakily]

that guard to come back.

- When we were on that bus,

when all the animals came
running out of the woods,

it wasn't just because they
were scared of the fire.

They were scared
of something else.

Austin saw it first.

He tried to warn me.

It has dark fur,
black and brown.

If it stood to its full height,
it'd be over seven foot,

at least 500 pounds.

The fire drove it
out of the woods.

Now it's here in the city.

[tense music]

It killed Connor.

- What?

I thought Connor
was just missing.

- He's missing 'cause
they never found his body.

- It killed a cop.

It killed my nurse and a doctor.

It's killing people every night.

- Say it.

and asked me to unlock it.

I told him I didn't
know her password.

But he knew I was lying.

So I unlock it.

And I watch him find
all these messages

from some guy named Rob.

- Your mom was cheating on him?

- He screams at her,

shoves the phone in her face,

keeps screaming at her
until she starts crying

and tells him everything.

- Then what happened?

- The neighbors call the police.

Social services took
Danny for a week.

I was put in a foster home.

My whole life turned
to complete shit...

All because of a fucking phone.

- Why didn't you tell me?

- Because I didn't tell anyone.

[siren wails]

- Who called the cops?

- They just got there.

I told them we're
about a mile out.

- If you go in
armed into a house

full of inebriated teenagers,

- Your eyes are pretty

- No, just needles.

We like to share dirty needles.

[car door shuts]

and Luna to come out.

You're all going home.

- Cyrus Nix, we need you
to step outside right now.

- Those were warning shots.

[tense music]

I was just trying to scare it.

- Scare what?

[tense music]

- A bear?

It was dark. I
couldn't see much.

That thing was big.

And it was really angry.

My shots scared it off,
but probably not for long.

- Wait, you saw a bear?

- The fire has driven
out all sorts of animals.

There have been
multiple sightings.

All of you need to
be more careful.

Now, everyone, inside.

This party is over.

Someone put out the damn fires.

Harlan came back pretty drunk.

Found him passed
out in his bathroom.

- Alone?

- Harlan doesn't date.

- He also doesn't
harbor fugitives,

if that's what you're asking.

- Last time I saw him,
he was with Cyrus.

- You want me to wake him up?

- No.

Let him sleep it off.

You can bring him to
me in the morning.

It's not every day you get
chased through the woods

by a bear.

- I'm gonna go
check on Luna again.

- [exhales deeply]

It was pretty dark.

dumb animal out there.

those woods, we can hunt it,

- So the guy on the phone,

the same one who's
been calling us

from a No Caller ID, says
he knows how your father

really died 17 years ago.

- What did he tell you?

- We didn't get that far.
I blocked his number.

He's not the first person
to try and fuck with me.

- What do you mean?

- Well, they never
actually found the bodies.

And you know what happens when
they don't find the bodies?

Conspiracy theories.

I've had crazy assholes
calling me for years,

telling me shit like
aliens abducted my dad

and the rest of the crew,

or they're all still alive

and being used in a
government experiment.

- Okay, so there's
no one who knows

what really happened
to your dad.

Like, not one real
witness to the fire.

- There's this one guy, Malcolm.

He was in the hotshot crew
with the rest of them.

- Wait.

Someone survived?

- He works at a hospital. I
think he's, like, an orderly.

But I wouldn't talk
to him if I were you.

- What did he say?

- He said that the
fire didn't kill my dad

and the rest of
the hotshot crew.

- What did?

[suspenseful music]

- A wolf.

- I just think that...

- We'll find out.
- Let's figure it out.

- Phoebe Caldwell never
made it home last night.

because apparently,

Harlan Briggs took
off this morning

and didn't tell his
father where he was going.

son and Cyrus Nix.

Lot of missing kids.

can actually kill a werewolf.

Six of us splintered off from
the rest of the hotshot crew

when fire was spotted
outside the containment line.

We tried to get
it under control,

but it was moving too fast.

The wind shifted,

drastically reduced
our chances to get

back to the safety zone.

So we kept going.

The canyon walls closed in.

There was only one path out.

- Something stopped you.

- A gray wolf.

Largest one I've ever seen.

- What did it do?
[distant howling]

- Stood there,

watching us,

baring its teeth at us.

The fire was right behind us.

We could feel the
heat at our backs.

Path to the ridge and the only
way out was behind that wolf.

- What happened?

- Rinzler... I think it was him.

He threw a rock at it,

tried to scare it off.

[lightly scoffs] All that did
was make the wolf angrier.

It wasn't letting any
of us get through.

- Didn't you carry axes?

- Yeah.

Some of us also
carried handguns.

I fired off a couple
rounds to scare it,

but... the thing
didn't even flinch.

So I fired the next
rounds into its hide

and dropped that
fucker to the ground.

[dramatic music]

- But you didn't kill it.

Did you?

- No.

The wolf went down
and got right back up.

And then we opened fire.

That animal must have
taken 40 to 60 rounds.

♪ ♪

It went down and just
kept getting back up.

And Nix, Cyrus's dad,
he finally managed

to put a bullet right
between its eyes.

When we came over to push the
body out of the way, we...

[sighs] Saw the thing
was still breathing.

We dragged it as close to
the fire line as we could,

watched the flames take over.

- That's when it died?

- No.

That's when it changed.

- The fire changed it?

- Transformed it.

At first, we thought we were
seeing a trick of the light...

Till we saw its
arms grow longer.

Snout extended.

The wolf started to stand
up on its hind legs,

which, all of a sudden,
were twice as long.

You could see muscles
pushing through the fur.

And the fur itself didn't burn.

Grew and darkened.

And the eyes.

The eyes started to glow.

- You saying the fire
turned the wolf into...

- A werewolf.

- Maybe the fire took it
from one shape to another.

'Cause the next thing we
saw, a 50-foot oak tree

came crashing down on it.

The whole ridge collapsed.

Everything got swallowed
up by the fire.

It was gone.

- But then who killed
the hotshot crew?

- [sighs]

That wasn't the only
wolf we saw in the woods.

- Did you start those fires?

- No.

- Don't say it to the
ground. Say it to me.

Look at me, Cyrus.

Did you start the fires?

- No.

- I believe you.

But there are some
people who don't.

You're gonna have
to convince them.

[dramatic music]

- The wolf was
protecting its pack.

That's why it didn't let you

and the rest of the
crew through the trail.

- Right.

- Where was the
rest of the pack?

Did you see the cubs?

- Did you see where
they were hidden?

No cubs.

But we saw the mate.

- You shoot that one, too?

- We couldn't.

We were out of bullets.

The strange thing is,

I think the animal knew
it, too, because...

it came right for us.

- You ran.

- You're goddamn right I did.

- You didn't see
it kill the others?

- No.

I only heard it.

[echoes of snarling,
men screaming]

- Wait, hold up.

Garrett found you in that
same fire 17 years ago.

- Yeah, we know.

- The hotshot crew
killed your mother,

but your father killed the crew.

And then, like, ten years later,

you're in the
middle of the woods,

and you see your father.

- But he was a wolf.

- Until this fire.

- The guy calling us.

The voice on the phone.

He knows all about werewolves.

If he's the arsonist,
then he probably knows

what fire does to a werewolf.

- That it turns the
wolf into a monster.

- What if that's
why he set the fire:

not just to draw the
wolf out of the woods,

but to change it?

To transform it
into the werewolf

killing everyone right now.

Into the werewolf that bit us.

[suspenseful music]

- The light's on.

♪ ♪

- Where is he?

- Harlan...
- What the fuck did you do?

- Only what I had to.

- You told them he was here.
You let her arrest him?

- That thing is out there,
killing your friends.

Right now, Cyrus is
probably safer with Ramsey.

- In jail.

- In a juvenile
detention center.

Then in court, where he'll get

a chance to explain
his side of the story.

- I saw a wolf go into the fire.

I saw something else come out.

- He'll kill them all, and
then he'll come for you.
