Wicked Tuna: North vs. South (2014–…): Season 3, Episode 7 - Old Sailors and Bold Sailors - full transcript

Winter kicks into high gear in the Outer Banks, creating dangerous conditions at sea. A snowstorm, fog, fierce winds and big seas force every captain to choose between safety at shore and ...

On this episode
of Wicked Tuna Outer Banks.

Red in the
morning, sailors take warning.

Weather turned crappy.

Winter
kicks into high gear.

I can't even see
which direction to steer.

About as big
as I've ever seen it.

And threatens
to put fishing on hold.

It's gonna be
nasty out there tonight.

It's gonna be brutal.

Forcing
every captain to decide.

Man, this
place changes every day.

Whether
to play it safe.

Calling
it a day, Bubba.
It's just too much.

Or risk it all.

We're going.
We're going.

- There it is!
- We're on!

Reel.
Come on, man reel.

Got 'em on. Whoo!

Oh!
Big weather, big fish, baby.

A big one! Whoo!

This is
Wicked Tuna Outer Banks.

Hot Tuna
is in the lead for the
first time this season.

But reigning champion
Fishin' Frenzy and dark horse

Foolish Pleasures
are close behind.

Meanwhile, Pinwheel and Reels
of Fortune trail the pack,

and Hard Merchandise's
nightmare run without
a paycheck continues.

Beach 104
news, I'm Sam Walker.

Winter is gearing up
again on the Outer Banks
today with a mix of snow,

sleet, possibly freezing
rain before temperatures dive.

Nighttime lows of 18
degrees over the weekend.

The latest coastal storm is
expected to also bring high
surf to the beaches of the

Outer Banks and offshore
waves are up to 12 feet
and gale-force wind gusts.

And that just
built up from yesterday.

One day.
In one day, man.

Yesterday coming
in there it was fine.

This place
changes every day.

I know it's
gonna be rough, and
it's gonna get rougher,

and it'll be dangerous
but we've got to go
try to catch a fish.

It makes it hard to make a
living here in the wintertime.

We're trying to
squeak out of here ahead of
all this snow and ice,

but I'm
second-guessing myself.

The storm is
predicted to hit early
this afternoon,

so we have a very short
window to catch a fish.

It's a very tough decision.
It really is.

The old saying here; that all
the heroes are on the bottom.

You think about
that more today.

You know, it's
gonna be blowing a tear.

The weather's
supposed to be cold.

See how bad it is.

Oh, yeah, we're going.
We're going.

The Outer Banks
in the winter is about
as rough as it gets.

It's about like a
cage match in wrestling.

Let's go get 'em.

We got a
little window here.

We're gonna make it out today.

I can cruise
from 20 to 30 knots.

I can get to the fishing
grounds in an hour and a half.

More importantly,
we can get back before
the weather gets in.

That's a big advantage
over all the Yankee boats.

I ain't getting jammed up
getting caught in this thing.

The problem here is,
by the time we physically
get to the grounds,

we've got to turn right
around and get back in
before it gets too rough.

Oh, boy.

Wow, it's unbelievable.

You know we're always
pushing the boundaries,
man, you know how I fish.

Yeah.
I'm always
pushing that envelope.

That's for sure, man.
There's
nothing you can do.

We could try and get out there
and fish, but I know how
dangerous it is and how

unlikely it is for us to
capitalize on the small
weather window.

It takes us just
too long to get out there
and get back in.

All
right, well, that's it.

I don't need to blaze
no trails around here.

They're calling
for a pretty major snowstorm
and we don't wanna get

caught in its way.

We just didn't have
a fast enough boat today.

We're down here
eight or nine miles below
where we've been fishing,

where the fish were.

We're hunting around, we're
looking, looking hard we know
some weather is coming and

we're not gonna have
a full day to go, so
we're trying hard to make

something happen here.

You never know unless you go.

I'm glad we came.
Hopefully, we'll
have our chance at it.

See these black
clouds behind us here?

Yeah.
That's some
pretty bad weather coming.

Is that, that
south-eastern, is that...

We've got, yeah,
we've got a south-eastern.

The fish always bite
better the rougher it is.

But you really got to
pay attention because you can
go overboard just like that.

The weather is
gonna deteriorate rapidly.

Alright,
Billy, let her go.

This is a bad
one we got coming.

We've got big winds,
big seas, it is the
Graveyard of the Atlantic.

It's dangerous.

You could lose your boat
and you could lose your life.

Let's have at it.

We're 40 miles offshore.

We only got a few hours to get
this done and hopefully get
home safely with some fish.

Just getting out here,
getting set up trying to
capitalize on today's

short weather window.

Hopefully, we'll get
lucky and get our turn.

Oh!
There they are, boy.

Jig it, boys.

Oh, got some good
scratches down below, man.

Hey, hey, hey, Jake.

Get back there and jig it!

That is the meat there.

Wow, it's a big mark.

A lot, a lot of fish.

Hey. Hey. Hey.
Hey. Hey. Hey. Hey!

There he is!
Whoo! We're on. We're on!

And it's cold. Whoo!
Very, very, very cold.

It's supposed to snow
one to three inches.

We're gonna have
mother nature ice our fish.

Yeah, boy.

There you go.
There you go.

Got him on!

Got 'em on! Whoo!

Come on,
boys, we need this one.

Get him under
the bandit probably.

Hold up.
You got
him tangled up.

Woo-hoo! Whoo!

Yeah, baby. Yeah!

- This is fishing.
- Yeah.

It's
yellowfins, ain't it?

Yeah, there's
a couple of them.

Oh, my gosh.
This is right
ahead of sucking.

Sorry, bud.

You know how this thing is.

Well, we caught
some yellowfin.

It's not really what we're
fishing for but it's a good
thing because where there's

yellow fin, there's Bluefin.

About 50 feet away.

Get those lines up, Austin.

Yellowfin.

Golly day, man.

And so, now, we
got a yellowfin on.

Is it tuna?
Yeah,
it's a little one.

We got dinner anyway.

It's
called a Yellowfin.

You know, it seems like when
we were catching our fish here
last week it seemed like they

were all together, you know,
some Yellowfins and Bluefins,

and right now I'm
glad we're here.

Hello there,
Reels of Fortune, come in.

Yeah, Frenzy.

No sign of fish here.

I think we're gonna file it
before this weather moves in.

I got you.

We ain't got much longer.

I
can't say as I blame you.

We'll try it
again next weather window.

What's going on now?

Absolutely nothing.

A snowstorm behind us there.

Hope you got
your snow tires on.

Let's give her 30 more
minutes and get out of here.

Great.
Now it looks like
the rain set in.

This is
really getting awesome.

We've been out here
stomping around all
damn day and to no avail.

Push down here a
little bit further and we're
gonna take an assessment about

exactly how bad do we want it.

I've always got to take into
consideration my boat, the
safety of my crew.

It's fixing to
get gnarly out here.

Just gonna fish until we can't
fish any longer, and have to
turn around and go in.

Shack,
have you got rain there too?

This is
really shaping up to be a
full metal jacket misery.

Oh, yeah.

If I don't see
something encouraging...

I'm gonna collect my toys.

Shoot, man. Jake!

Get dressed.
Let's get ready to
get this **** in.

It's getting pretty
rough there, bud. What?

Ain't no doubt!
Ain't no doubt!

I know.

Let's get
them in here, Jake.

Thinking about
wrapping this up and
getting out of here!

Gotcha.

The weather turned crappy,
try and get out of here
and get home.

Get 'em in.

Can't see.

Safe to say
we're using the radar.

Imagine just
waitin' for an old...

ghost pirate ship to come
up on you any time now.

This is absolutely crazy,
Shack. Nasty. Rough.

Crank my mess up.

Alright.

We're right
there behind you.

Yeah, man.
Have a safe ride in there.

Crank in the line.

Calling
it a day, Bubba.
It's just too much.

Caine, you come
and check this rigger.

Dad gum it all, man.

Easy, Bubba.
Easy, Bubba.

- You got her?
- Yeah.

Be careful.

About the
thickest I've ever seen it.

Got nasty fast.

Pin her down.

I can't even see
which direction to steer.

Try to get outta
here before it gets any
worse than it is.

God Almighty.

Whoo!

Dammit.

Get the door, Jake.

This is not
gonna be very good.

Golly dag, man.

The window
slammed shut on us.

Nasty.

Nasty.

Thirty miles offshore.

What the
hell is this ********?

Crazy. Oh.

Dammit.
It's gotten bad.

Dude. Hold on. Hold on!

Oh!

Dammit.
It's gotten bad.

hold on.
Hold on!

Oh! Dammit!

Wearing me out, man, it's
wearing me out.

We're halfway home now.

This is crazy.

This is, hold on here, cap.

Yeah,
we're running 15 right now.

It's getting, it's
gotten a lot better, man, once
we got into this 46-degree,

47-degree water, man.

It's just a lot
better visibility now.

Mother nature
don't think you're a
badass because she's badder.

I'm getting
a bad attitude, bud.

Could be worse.
It could be snowing.

A lot of snow, man.

Welcome
to the Outer Banks.

If you don't like the weather
right now, just wait five
minutes it'll change.

We got two
inches of snow.

Nothing like an old-fashioned
ass whipping in the winter.

I've had all
I can stands, I can't
stands no more.

Look at this place.

Some days are better
than others but this
one sure sucks.

I'm not going
again until them Yankees go.

Today, south winds five
to fifteen knots

becoming
southwest ten to twenty knots.

Seas four to seven feet.

We couldn't get out
to the ground yesterday,
but it looks like we can

get out there today.

Tonight,
south winds 20 to 30 knots.

Increasing to 30 to 40 knots.

Man.
It's gonna get nasty
out there tonight.

Seas nine to fourteen feet.

Oh, my God, dude.

Blink of an eye.

We now have ourselves
a limited weather window.

We got to maximize our
time on the water before the
winds hit tonight.

Let's get this boat ready to
go, we got to get on the water
as fast as possible.

We're going fishing today.

We got to make
up for lost time.

What?
You don't wanna go?

You don't feel like
going this morning?

Alright,
let's do it I guess.

Hopefully, we're
finally gonna catch a break
and get some fish on the deck.

We're gonna go
on the days we can.

Hopefully, things
will come together for us.

Leave the dock
here in about five minutes.

We started off slow.

We're starting to get them.

We're getting into our groove.

So, it's important that
we get out there every day
that is fishable and

capitalize on it.

Rock and roll, baby.

Pinwheel, baby.
Whoo-hoo!
Let's go!

See you later, bye.

Weather
determines whether you're
gonna make it or not.

When you see that
red sky from back over
here to the southern,

back up here to the northern,
it's gonna get pretty raunchy.

I've got to take
advantage of every window.

If you sat around and
waited for an opportune time,
you'd never make it.

Red in the morning,
sailors take warning.

Red at night sailor's delight.

We don't have very long.

Let's go fishing.

Put 'em out.

Weather's supposed to
turn really crappy later on.

Got to make the best
of it this morning,
load this boat up.

Anytime we have
the opportunity, we
need to catch fish.

We need to put
money in our pockets.

That's what we have to do.

We're doing
eight and a half knots.

We were the top boat,
but it's been a while since
we've had our last fish.

Since then, Hot Tuna
and Fishin' Frenzy
have taken over.

This wind is gonna pick up
tonight so we need to catch.

We're gonna try
to make it happen.

We got to get back up on top.

Just trying to get
rigged up and catch a couple
fish this morning.

Got a mark right here.

Come on, man.
Come on fish.

Put us on the meat, cap!

There he is.
There he is!

There he goes!

We're on!

Come on, Will Billy!

Nice fish.

We got a
double header on here.

Got him on the rod!

Watch the line.

Double header!

Come on, Will Billy!

Nice fish.

We got a
double header on here.

Got him on the rod!

Watch the line.

Double header.

He's coming back
in the other side, Will.

Come on.
Get this one through here.

Get this one through here.

These fish,
they're going every
which way they can.

Fish is going
over the other side.

Just hang on, Dale.

And trying to
keep them separated is
a hell of a chore.

If you can't,
you got a good chance
of losing them both.

Keep them lines from crossing.

Pull it over here, man.

Coming over.

They're getting
crossed up there.

Getting crossed up.

This ain't good.

Hey, what, does
anybody have any thoughts?

What am I...

Everything's kind of
screwy right now, you know?

Come here, Ed.

Go underneath again?
Or over top?

Yeah.

At some point, it's
gonna cross over that gear.

Pull the reel too.
Swing the reel, this reel.

- Put on top of it.
- Yep.

There he is!

Short one, ain't he?

Yeah, he's short.
He's short.

It's good that there
are short fish, and we
want to let them go,

and keep the species healthy
so that we can keep fishing.

Hook's out.

We got another fish on we
just released the short
on the green stick.

We got one on the rod
here and it seems like
a little bit better one.

Feels like a nice fish.

Took a lot of line
on his initial run.

We're still tight.

There he is!

Yeah, he's big enough.

Forward. Forward!
To your starboard.

There you go.

I'm watching him.
I'm watching him.

Perfect he's going
around in a circle boys.

Just steer your rod so
that the line doesn't
touch the boat,

you know what I mean?

- Gotcha.
- Forward.

Wide. Wide. Wide.
Wide. Wide. Pull it on.
Pull it on. Pull it on.

I'm pulling it on,
dude, I can't get none.

Oh, God, not too tight!

Look at you, man,
you're telling me two
different things, bro.

- I'm not, I don't, oh.
- You know what I mean?

I'm not holding onto it.

I hear you.
I hear you.
I hear you.

I know there's a
little heat on the.

Let's just catch it.

Alright, he's right on top.

Drilled him!

Yeah.

Get the gaff.

You should put
the tail rope on this.

He's ornery.

Got him.

Nice job, guys.

The hard way.

The hard way.

Oh, my God.

That was the angriest
fish I've ever seen.

That's a nice
looking fish, man.

Seventy-eight inches.

It's a good keep.

Nice.
Nice.
Good keeper.

- Pretty work, guys.
- Yeah, man.

We're gonna go get another
one before the wind picks up.

Hey, we got 'em
breaking right up our bow.

See them up here, Cliff?

Right up here busting.

It's more than
halfway through the season
and the Hard Merch still

hasn't got a fish.

It's definitely high
time we break this curse.

Yeah, I lost him there.

God, I mean,
what is the deal?

We're out here,
we're fishing, we're doing
the best we can.

I know Dave is
doing the best he can.

I'm doing the best I can.

So far, it's just
not workin' for us.

Did you
see them busters out there?

I just had them
break right off my bow, Griff.

I lost them. But I
haven't marked them.

Good grief, man.

We're gonna fish until we
can't stay here any longer
due to weather.

Right.
Right. Right, yeah.

We're battling time here too.

It's gonna come
southeast tonight.

So, we got a couple
hours to get one here.

Otherwise, it's gonna
be game over for us.

We just can't seem
to shake the curse.

There's a
mark, Bubby, jig it.

You got to talk louder.
I can't hear you.

Some marks!

We're on top right
now, and the Hot Tuna
is kicking butt.

But right now we've got high
winds forecast for tonight,

but they could hit at any time.

So, we would really like
to catch a tuna quickly.

Come in, Tyler!

How you doing, brother?

Where you at?
I'm like 590.
There's a mark there.

Where are all these bites at?
Where's the meat?

Whoa!

There he is!
There he is!

He's on!
We're on! We're on!
We're on!

Alright,
we're coming your way.
You down by the Point?

Yes.
TJ just
hooked up at the Point.

That's us Northern boats
working together right now
catching fish.

First breaker,
first breaker! Screaming!

He's dumping them.
He's a nice-sized fish.

Don't turn that
when it's going out.

TJ, it's not going out.

Is he still on there?
Yeah. Calm down.
I'm just...

- Got 'em on, baby!
- He took a lot of line.

How'd he look?

Nice, I'd say
almost 90 inches.

Nice and easy.
Definitely getting a
little weight now.

- Got 'em on.
- Oh, man.

We just get this to flow,
be in a good mood all day.

He's glowing.

How's he look?
He looks like he's
got some color to him.

Right here.
Right here.

Yeah, he's a keeper.
He's a keeper.
Get him! Get him!

- Throw the dart!
- Oh.

- Oh.
- I don't know if I got him.

- He's glowing.
- How's he look?

He looks like he's
got some color to him.

Tonight they're
forecasting the 30 to 40 knots

but the wind's
already picking up.

We've got to
land this fish, now.

Right here.
Yeah, he's a keeper.
He's a keeper.

Get him! Get him!

Throw the dart.
Whoa.
I don't know if I got him.

I didn't get him.

I can't see nothing, so.

He's off to
the left-hand side here.

- What's up?
- Stick him!

I got him! Gaff. Gaff.

- Other side, right?
- Right here. Right here.

Got him.

Tail rope, wow, you took a
big gash out of him, TJ.

Whoo, baby!

Got him on, now
he's getting tied up.

Nice, baby! Whoo.

Get the tape quick.

Right on the money, bro!

73! Pa-pow, baby.

He's not a sea monster, but a
couple more like this and
we'll be in real good shape.

The Hot Tuna is
staying on top, baby.

Winds 20 to 30 knots
increasing to 30 to 40 knots.

I keep
listening to it all day.

It's not gonna change.

We've got a very small weather
window tomorrow morning.

Normally,
I'd stay out here.

But with 30 to 40 knot winds,
and 9 to 15 foot seas, it's
dangerous conditions.

It's gonna blow
its ass off tonight.

Blowing now.

What are we
doing tonight, Griff?

I'm damn sure I ain't
going to spend the night.

When it gets blowing
over 30, it's a whole
different ocean.

I mean, I've been on boats
that's damn near rolled over.

Oh, I hope we get
them here, 'cause I didn't
get a bite this morning.

Oh, Greg, I'm
just all broken up about that.

I can hear ya.

Yeah, I think I'm
gonna get going right now.

Run the one I've got in.
Nice one.

We were gonna stay,
but I don't know.

Got a
pretty bad feeling in
my gut about that.

Yeah, me too, man.

That's funny that you said
that 'cause I am tired of
pushing the envelope here.

I'm pretty beat up.

Yeah, I just don't.

I don't, I don't think
we're gonna fish tomorrow.

No, I don't, I
don't think so either.

Tyler?

Yeah, TT,
what's the word?

Everyone's going in?

- It's just gonna get worse and worse, man.
- that.

I'm gonna stay.

What?

Man, I don't know.
I just gotta stay.

We're gonna get
the morning in.

I got to make up some
distance we're gonna
grind a little bit.

We couldn't fish the
other day because there was a
very small weather window and

there's gonna be another
small one tomorrow morning.

The only way to take advantage
of it is to stay here
overnight and be ready for the

bite first thing
tomorrow morning.

Who
are you staying with?

I
think I'm just myself,

but guys are coming back
in the morning, you know.

Not anymore.

They're all saying they're
not coming out tomorrow.

Yeah, we'll be here. If it's
real ******, we'll come in.

I don't know.
You do what you want.

It's a long way to go, bro.

You're the only boat out here,
that's all I'm gonna say.

I like adrenaline, so
anything that there's a little
bit of risk involved, I'm into.

Be careful.

I know, I know.

Good
luck to you there.

It's supposed to get
raunchy this afternoon, can't
run to the edge of the cliff

but so many times
and then you run over.

A fish is not worth it.

I gotcha. I know that.

We'll pray for him.

Tyler, that
guy's an ass clown.

Hey, TJ. Got a bad feeling.

Tyler, they are calling
35 knots southeast now.

The waves
are going to be 9 to 15 feet.

I know. I know.

Be careful.

Roger, roger, always.

Tyler, I just want
to let you know we're bailing
out with the rest of them.

Alright, pal,
we'll see you on the beach.

Alright, very good, man.
Good luck, TJ.

Watch, watch, watch.

- What's going on?
- What's up?

We got one
little one for you, man.

Let's see what you got.

What do you got, Lucas?

178.

Alright, man,
not a sea monster but
we'll take it, right?

The buyer's ultimately looking
for good heavy fat content,
cherry red color and a heavy

grease content, and if
all those things are there,

we're gonna get a good
price per pound.

This is a
nice-colored fish.

I like when
you say that, Bubba.

It's got some nice oil.

Let's look at the core.

Let's check it out, Bubba.

Oh. Cherry red, nice.

Got a nice core.

Come on, Bubba.

Come on, Bubba Cush.

So, what are you thinking?

Our last fish was good quality
and got us $20 and
we're gonna need something in

that same neighborhood if
we're going to stay on top.

- $19 a pound.
- Hey now!

Hey!
That's a good one.

We're still hanging
in there, man, we're
hanging in there, guys.

Sure, I wish we'd caught more.

But, at least I can sleep
tonight knowing I'm not
risking my boat,

my life, or the lives of my
crew just for a bigger
paycheck.

At this point, we're gonna
wait for the next nice
weather window.

Whoa.
I can't even see the next.

Good one!

Holy.

What, this
ain't that bad.

No, you just got
to pick your way through.

Holy.

I can't even see the next one.

Yeah, buddy.

Hey, just close
that cabinet or whatever.

It's rough and
it's hard to see.

Holy.

Holy , holy.

Dude, you're probably not
gonna get any sleep tonight.

It'll all be
worth it if we get one
in the morning, though.

You know where the
survival suits are, right?

Seriously?

Wow, man, that's
nasty out here.

Open the
back door! I can't see!
Open the back door!

Yup.

Alright,
what you got for me?

Oh! Are you okay?

That's nasty out here.

Bro, open the back door!
I can't see! Open the back door!

Yup.

Alright,
what you got for me?

Oh! Are you okay?

I just
smashed my hand, dude.

Oh, my God!

What did you
do to your finger?

It shattered
the tip, I think.

It's rough
big water fishing.

Way worse
than I thought.

Oh, man.

I hit my
head on the back.

We've all been there.

It's part of
commercial fishing.

Hopefully tomorrow
it'll pay off big.

What's going on, guys?

Good to see you again.
One more fish.
Make us rich.

Over the
rail in the pail.

Let's see what we got.

Give us some good news.

What do we got?

You got 250 pounds.

Nice. Real nice.
Awesome.
Awesome.

Weather's gonna
get real nasty tomorrow.

So, I'm hoping we
can get a good price
for this tuna.

Pretty nice
little fish here.

Good tail color.

It's got a
decent amount of fat.

Check the core.

That's a nice core.

Nice color all
the way through.

What do we got?

Give us some good news, man.

We need some money.

- $18 a pound.
- Yes, sweet.

Nice.
We needed that, man.

Awesome.
Exactly what we need.
Thank you very much.

I'm really
glad we got a fish.

I'm happy not to be out there
fighting that storm right now
like the old Pinhead is.

Good to go?

Yeah.

We got to
get 'em today.

Dude, last night was
rougher than can be.

You know, we definitely
took a beating last night.

My thumb looks like
a blown out.

Fell on it last night.

Big wave probably
like a 12, 14-footer.

Hit my head on the
back, started bleeding pretty
good in my ear,

landed, like, on my
thumb or something.

I don't know how it happened.

We're the only boat out
here 'cause no one else wanted
to brave the rough seas.

We had to take the
gamble to stay overnight to
get the morning in because we

would have never made it
out here 'cause we're
not fast enough.

The weather forecast for
today is calling for
winds as high as

50 knots early this afternoon.

We only have a few hours to
fish, so we got to get our
fish and get out of here,

because that's wind and
waves that I know my
boat can't handle.

Come on, snap!
Break it!

Marking
the mother load.

We're marking them right now.

Watch, she's gonna pop up.

Come on!

Oh, we're on.

We're on, we're on.

That's the real one!

Nice. Yeah, baby.

Yeah, baby.

Got him on! Whoo!

Walk him to the back?

No, just
clear the stick.

Clear the stick.

That is a real one.

Got 'em on, baby.

Holy that's a
lot of drag, dude.

Where you going?

Oh, yeah, he's screaming.

Let's go get this fish.

Yeah, brother.

Chase him down, man.

Yeah!

Good fish, bro.

Got to get this fish.
It's really important.

It's amazing what a
little adrenaline can do
to a thumb.

Yeah, reel through
the pain, baby, reel
through the pain.

No pain.

Reel,
come on, man, reel.

Mono.
Mono!
Yeah.

If we put this one on
the boat, staying out in the
rough weather was worth it.

Yup.
Hell yeah, brother.

This is definitely a
big money fish right here.

The way this fish is fighting
he's definitely a 400 pounder
all day.

He's got the weight in
the rod, he's holding it.

He's making us work for it.

Nice little run.

Let's see that
thing for a minute.

Come on.

Color!

Favorite thing to do in
the whole world right here.

Down and tight, making money.

That's what it's all about.

Here, get on the rod.

Alright, Nick.

He's coming around.

Coming right to you, brother.

Yeah, baby, got him!

Get a tail gaff.

- Got him.
- He's a big boy.

He's heading for the boat.

Nice.

Yeah, brother!

Yeah, baby!

Pinwheel back in it.

Got a little poundage now.

Throwing darts and
breaking hearts, T.

Yeah, buddy.

Oh, man.

We knew we'd get ours.

Oh, yeah.

Nice, beautiful tuna.

Nice, beautiful tuna.

Yeah, buddy.
Yes.
Another 90?

Let's get him
measured out, buddy.

- 91 bro!
- 91!

Let's go get
another one, baby.

Yeah.

Whoa. Oh,
let's go. Put 'em out.
Alright.

Outer Banks wind
advisory now in effect.

Winds north 25 to 35
miles per hour with gusts
up to 50 miles per hour.

I'm gonna give this ten
more minutes and then we'll
pick it up and leave.

Alright.

Before it gets
really bad out here.

Staying out overnight
already paid off with one
tuna, but one more will

really make it all worthwhile.

Unfortunately, the weather's
about to get really gnarly.

That was a big one.

Man.

Those are nice marks.

There they are.

We're on, bro.
We're on!

Oh, yeah, that's the one.

Nice.

Watch the lines!

Watch the lines!

What the,
holy dude.

I know.

Our fishing line's
getting tangled up with
the greenstick line.

It could break any second
and there goes our paycheck.

We're gonna lose it.
It's gonna cut the line.

Watch the lines!
Watch the lines.

What the.
We're getting
smoked right here.

Holy.

We're hooked up, but
our fishing line is tangled
up with our greenstick.

I've got to maneuver it
away from the bird and
the ball to get it free

or we'll lose our fish.

It's gonna
cut the line, man.

It's fine. Just chill.
Move this rod here.

Move this rod right here.

Go under.

No, no, no.

Hold on, Hold on.

I got it, got it.

Look at it, right by the bird!

See you later.
Bye, bird.

Alright, now we're
in the clear, baby.

T, it's
starting to get bad out here.

It's very dangerous,
the weather's coming, we got
to get this fish so we can

back before it's
too rough to get in.

There he is, right on top.

- Yup.
- Like 150 feet away.

Yeah!

Getting close, brother.

It's a good fish, he's
making big runs, man.

Rough.
Big weather, big game fishing.

Yeah!
Big weather, big fish, baby.

Yeah, buddy.

Not too much further now.

Color.
Color?
Yup. Big fish!

Going straight down, man.

Tail gaff!
Tail rope!

Get him, T.

Good, good, good.

Stick him good!

Yeah, buddy! Whoo!

You didn't even have to
get him with the dart.

Big boy. He's ours.

Yeah, brother. Whoa.
What a fight, man.

Yeah.
Alright, let's haul
him right into the boat.

Wow!

It's a big boy!

Wow!

A 100-incher!

Yeah, brother.

102, brother!

Yeah!
Yeah, baby.
102-incher baby.

Yeah!
Pinwheel back on it, bro.

Pinwheel, baby.

Weather's getting bad, so
we got to get out of here.

Howdy, boys.

What's up, Tyler.

So we got the
crap kicked out of us,
it was so rough,

we stayed out overnight when
the rest of the fleet came in
and it paid off.

We got two beautiful
fish for you, man.

Well,
let's check it out.

What do we got, Bubba?

437 pounds dressed.

339 pounds dressed.

Alright, man!
Nice, bro,
awesome, kick butt! Cool.

Yo, let's take a tail
cut of this fish and
check it out, Bubba.

Alright.

We took a big gamble
but there's still no guarantee
we'll get a good price.

One of our last tunas
only got $10 per pound.

We really need a big
payday for these two fish.

Well, you got a
pretty decent fish here.

There's a good amount of fat.

- Good.
- Oily.

- It is really oily.
- I like that.

Nice core.
What do you think
we're gonna get a pound?

Well.

I can do $16 a pound.

Bingo!
Alright, bro!
Yes. Thank you, man.

I appreciate it, dude.

- No problem.
- Alright, buddy.

Let's see what
else we got in the trunk.
Alright.

That's a nice one.
That's our bell ringer.

Yeah, buddy.
Got a good
color, good fat.

Nice and oily.

What's it
gonna be, baby?
Great core.

Suspense is killing me.

$18 a pound.
Bingo!
Thank you, appreciate it, bro.

Yeah, brother.
No problem.
Alright.

It's good to
know that all our hard
work's paying off.

This payday made it all
worthwhile, staying out
overnight in those rough seas.

We're back in the game.

- Kick butt.
- Kick butt.

Foolish Pleasures'
forty-five-hundred-dollar
tuna pushes them ahead of

reigning champion
Fishin' Frenzy.

And Pinwheel's two-fish
payoff leapfrogs them
into third place.

Meanwhile, Hot Tuna's small,
high quality fish is enough
to keep them in the lead.

What are you
doing, Pinwheel?

How was your night out
here the other night?

I bet it was a
little bit choppy.

Definitely a
long, long night at sea.

It was brutal.

Did you notice that
nobody else has spent the

night out here with you?

There's a reason for it.

- He's out to lunch.
- I know.

We put some
fish on the deck.

Little bit of luck.
A lot of luck.

You put the time in,
you're gonna catch them.

There's old sailors
and there's bold sailors,
but there's not a whole

lot of old bold sailors.

Yeah, I
know you got that right.

Be careful.

Especially around here.
No place to mess around.
