Wicked Tuna: North vs. South (2014–…): Season 1, Episode 10 - The Fat Tuna Sings - full transcript

As the clock runs out on the Outer Banks bluefin tuna season, all the captains hope to catch one last monster fish to define their season.

NARRATOR: On the season finale

of Wicked Tuna: Outer Banks...

BRITTON SHACKELFORD:
Tick-tock, time's tickin'.

NARRATOR: With the bluefin tuna season
about to close.

DAVE MARCIANO: This is probably gonna be
the last day of the season.

CAINE LIVESAY: Whatever it takes
to get this last bite.

PAUL HEBERT: I think he's tail wrapped.

NARRATOR: The Northern
and Southern boats fight

for final paychecks...

MARCIANO: $5,000 fish on the line.

NICK GOWITZKA (off screen):
Come on, baby!

NARRATOR: ...and the top spot.

REED MEREDITH:
We wanna beat these Yankee boats.

TYLER MCLAUGHLIN: You know, this could
give us the lead right here.

NICK: The red boat has struck again!

NARRATOR: In a highly regulated fishery

that's trying to stay sustainable.

REED: We're on!

TYLER: This makes or breaks our season.

NARRATOR: Every bluefin caught
takes a bite out of the quota.

JARRETT PRZYBYSZEWSKI (off screen):
He's a fighter and he's fighting.

TIM OTT (off screen): Stay on him.

MARCIANO: No! No, no!

NARRATOR: And every fisherman
has to battle for his fair share.

GREG MAYER (over radio):
Quota is closed.

TYLER: When that sun sets, it's game over.

NARRATOR: This is
Wicked Tuna: Outer Banks.

At the start of Day 21

only ten percent of the quota

is left to catch.

Southern boat Wahoo has
a narrow lead over Pin Wheel

and Fishin' Frenzy.

And Hard Merchandise,
Doghouse and Hot Tuna

have one last chance
to salvage their seasons.

GREG (off screen):
All right, Nick, this is it.

I have a feeling they're gonna
close the quota here shortly.

-NICK: Really?
-GREG: Today or tomorrow.

The quota is now 90% filled.

The government determines the exact time

when the bluefin tuna quota closes

based on how many tons have been caught.

I'm not ready to quit yet.

NICK: No, me either.

GREG: Once the deadline is determined
we get the call.

Sometimes the quota closes right away.

Other times we might
get another day to fish.

You never know, so you treat every day

as if it's the last day of the season.

NICK: I want to get a couple more.

It's not just about
the number of fish we catch.

It's about a payday.

BANKS MEREDITH (off screen):
Let's go, Reed!

REED: Let's get out of here.

BANKS: Here we go.

REED (off screen): Today, there might be
50 boats out here.

That's why it's imperative
that we get out here early.

BRITTON: Good morning, good morning.

We need a fish very badly.

And I need to get all I can get
while the season is still open.

Plenty, plenty bills.

Not much moolah, moolah, moolah.

This has been a very disappointing season.

I haven't made as much

as I could for my wife and my family.

CAINE: We're gonna
catch ourselves a bluefin today.

GREG: Two more!

All we need is two more.

NICK: Let's go get 'em.

REED: Let's go.

And we're off.

We're in the homestretch.

GREG: It's the bottom of the ninth.

PAUL: It's game on!

TYLER: Early bird gets the worm.

I wanna win for the North.

I wanna prove to the South

that the Yankees are still
a force to be reckoned with.

PAUL: We're pumped!

TYLER: After the tough year
I had in Gloucester

I need to salvage my year

and I need to prove
to the rest of the fleet and to myself

that I'm still an elite tuna fisherman.

-Time to get 'em, dude.
-PAUL (off screen): Yeah, man.

TJ OTT: Ready?

JARRETT (off screen):
All right, you're good.

TJ: We made the 600-mile trek
to the Outer Banks

basically to save face
for what happened to us

this summer up in Gloucester.

It's a lot riding on it, huge expenses,

and we haven't caught
as many fish as I'd like to.

JARRETT: All we need is that one good day,
one good money day

and it could really change our luck here,
so, uh, we gotta keep going.

MARCIANO (off screen):
And we're off like a prom dress.

This is probably gonna be
the last day of the season.

Maybe two days if we're lucky.

I've got so much at stake
coming down here to catch these fish.

It's a huge financial investment.

I got the wife and kids
back home to support.

We're gonna get some more tuna fish

so we can have a better year overall.

PAUL: It's time.

When the quota gets
close we all say "One more."

"One more good one."

We wanna be
one of the first boats to get 'em today!

Yeah-ha!

GREG:
They could very easily be here.

We've got the Wahoo
and the Pin Wheel ahead of us

that's unacceptable.

And I'll be damned if a Northern boat
outfishes the Frenzy.

And Reed and I made
a $5,000 bet this year.

GREG:
Make it a grand.

REED (over radio):
Let's make it five grand!

(laughs)

GREG: I don't think I can tolerate

an entire year of Reed gloating
that he beat us.

I need to find fish right away.

REED (off screen):
We just got to the grounds

we're just gonna get set up, set out

and hopefully we're gonna
catch some fish today.

The Wahoo is on top right now.

It feels great
to be smokin' the Fishin' Frenzy,

the Pin Wheel
and the rest of the fleet.

Now we just have to
make sure we stay on top.

BANKS: We need two,

finish out the season strong.

TJ: Just gettin' here
it's a little rougher than we anticipated

and we don't have much of a quota left.

We're in last place.

It's a terrible feeling
but we gotta stick with it,

we're not gonna
turn around and give up.

TIM: We have no money
in the bank right now,

so it's very, very important for us
to catch a couple of fish right now

or TJ's gonna be in a lot of trouble.

TJ: Hopefully the tuna gods
have our backs today.

BRITTON: Praying for a bite.

What we're settin' out here
is a pile of bait,

unbelievable amount of bait.

CAINE: Whatever it takes
to get this last bite.

MARCIANO (off screen):
All right, Jay, well, put the stick out.

If we can get at least one
maybe two more fish,

it'll make this whole trip
to North Carolina worth it.

Just like Superman,
"Up, up and away."

PAUL: You still marking?

TYLER: It went down.

I really wanna beat
Reed on the Wahoo

because he's a cocky,
arrogant son of a bitch.

He kinda reminds me
a lot of me last year.

PAUL: Yeah, I wanna beat everybody.

Of course I do, always,

but my main objective
is get the most money for the fish

so I can support my family.

This could be
a starting sign of all these fish.

We got one on. We're on.

TYLER: Woo-hoo!

Whoa, rigger bite, rigger bite.

-PAUL: Rigger bite!
-TYLER: Rigger bite, rigger bite.

PAUL: We're on!

TYLER: Could be the last fish
of the season here.

We got him on!

This is big money.

100 feet out.

Yeah, this could
give us the lead right here, Paul.

This is very important we catch this fish.

PAUL: Let's hope
he's a lazy (bleep) 500 pounder.

TYLER: Deep color.

I got one on, (bleep).

This gets us Wahoo, dude,
all I wanna do is crush Wahoo.

PAUL: It'd be nice
to get one, that's for sure.

TYLER (off screen): Need this fish!

PAUL: It'd be so nice to get him.

TYLER (off screen):
Coming up tail wrapped.

The fishing line is wrapped
around the tuna's tail

and it could chafe the line
and snap it off at any second.

Reverse, reverse.

Swivel, swivel, swivel.

Get ready, Paul.

We can't afford to lose him.

-Ah!
-PAUL (off screen): Ah! He's gone!

Chafed him.

TYLER: It's brutal to get the fish
so close to the boat

and lose it like that,

especially when the clock is running out.

We gotta go find another tuna, and fast.

BANKS: Not a good fishing day so far.

REED: Pretty much sucks.

Feast or famine,
today we have found nothing.

I feel great about being number one.

I know we'll beat
the Fishin' Frenzy no sweat,

but I wanna put a lot more tuna
between me and the Pin Head.

We just need one.

There he is!

We're on!

BANKS: We're on!

REED: Holy (bleep).

BANKS (off screen): He's on the stick!

Nice.

REED: We're hooked up.

Screaming this line out.

BANKS: Nice.

REED: All right, first bite
of the day what we need.

Keep it in gear,
he's swimming right with you.

Keep it in gear.

Yeah, he's coming right to me now.

BANKS: I just don't like
the way it's coming on the reel.

REED: It's all right, right this second.

-BANKS (off screen): See it?
-REED: Oh, yeah.

He's right there.

All right, out of gear.

Give me a dart.

Missed.

BANKS: Unreal.

-Got him?
-REED (off screen): Yeah!

BANKS (off screen): Whoo!

REED: All right, he's pissed.

Go ahead, go ahead, go ahead, go ahead.

Oh-ho, dude. Oh-ho.

All right, stop.

Ugh, in the wheel.

In the wheel, it's coming out.

He's going crazy.

Mean green water bitch.

Whoo. Holy (bleep).

Going (bleep) nuts.

Now I'm hand lining him.

BANKS (off screen): Watch the line!

Anybody's game still though.

REED: Oh (bleep).

I think the dart just came out.

Ah, forward, forward.

Stop.

Out of gear.

BANKS: Dude, I'm (bleep)
still bumping him.

Just shut up and pay attention
to what you're doing.

REED: Look where the fish is.

BANKS: (bleep) I can see
where the (bleep) angle's going.

REED: Don't put the boat in gear.

There's too much going on here.

Here's the fish.

Jesus. All right, big gaff ready?

BANKS: Yup.

-REED (off screen): Oh, gaff. Big gaff.
-BANKS (off screen): Here you go.

REED: Hold on.

BANKS: Stay on reel.

-Watch out.
-REED: Get the tail rope.

BANKS (off screen): Whoo! Got one!

That's what I'm talking about though!

Yeah!

REED (off screen): God!

What a mean fish.

BANKS (off screen): Got his ass though.

What's your guess? I'm saying over 90.

REED: Uh... 94.

BANKS (off screen): 92!

Nice. Big boy.

REED: Better than I thought.

BANKS: Way to close out the season.

REED: This fish puts us ahead
of the Frenzy and the Pin Head.

We're really smoking your asses now.

So we're gonna get this fish
to the buyer right away.

We're planning on beating
these Northern boats so bad

that they're too ashamed
to even come back here.

(phone ringing)

GREG: Hello?

Oh, boy.

Okay, well, I'll-I'll let him know.

See you in a few.

NICK: Done, ain't it?

GREG: Quota's up. Done.

NICK: Damn.

Well... good run.

GREG (over radio): Hey, Shaq.

BRITTON: All right, go ahead, Frenzy.

GREG: I just got the phone call.

The quota is closed
tomorrow at midnight.

That's it, season over.

REED: Oh, (bleep).

MARCIANO: (bleep).

GREG (over radio): Gotta get
everything landed by then.

PAUL: Basically the government calculated

that the fishery will meet
its 23-ton quota

by midnight tomorrow night.

BRITTON: Yeah.

Rules is rules there.

GREG: Rules is rules there.

I wish it lasted a little bit longer.

BRITTON: Me too, since we just
got started catching.

GREG (over radio): I know. I know.

I need one more bite.

BRITTON: Yup, true that.

GREG: Okay, we're standing by.

BRITTON (over radio): Yes, sir.

GREG: The clock is ticking.

Wahoo caught another fish.

Reed is now a fish ahead of us.

We need to catch more.

Or I'm out a $5,000 bet.

Oh, there he is! There he is!

NICK (off screen): Yeah, baby!

Come on!

Fish on!

NICK:
You may never know what it is.

Play everything like it's the Super Bowl.

All right, we're tight now.

GREG: Squealing.

NICK: We need this fish bad.

GREG: This is the one we've been
looking for all day here.

NICK: The red boat has struck again!

GREG: Give Nick a little break here.

NICK: Ahh! (grunts)

NICK:
You think you're fat and out of shape,

you start cranking on an ol' big tuna,

you'll find out what you're made of.

GREG: This could be
the last one we can catch.

NICK: We like to get him out
or get him tired,

you're not gonna catch
a fish until he's ready.

GREG: We got 250 foot
between me and this fish

and a big payday.

He's just down there
doin' what a tuna does,

tellin' me I'm not gonna catch him.

Nice and easy.

There he is. Color.

NICK: Leader's in the tip.

Dart him, Cap!

GREG (off screen): Oh, no!

NICK: Leader's in the tip.

Dart him, Cap!

GREG (off screen): Oh, no!

Oh, (bleep).

NICK: Here's your shot, Cap.

GREG: Get the gaff.

Ah, go on, go on,
the other side of me.

Other side of me.

I'm gonna just pull him over
so his tail comes up to you.

NICK: Left side of me, Cap, left.

GREG: (bleep).

NICK: Yes! Yeah! Frenzy strikes again!

GREG: He looks like a nice fat fish.

BOTH: One, two, three.

(both grunt)

NICK (off screen): 93. Unh!

Yeah, baby!

GREG (laughing): We got him, baby.

NICK: Pretty work, man.

-GREG: I like it, I like it, I like it.
-NICK: Nice, nice, nice.

GREG: This is a good start,

but we're gonna need
a bigger, fatter bluefin

to have a real shot of pulling ahead
of the Wahoo and the Pin Wheel.

NICK: I definitely think
that we're gonna make up ground.

We're gonna catch some more fish.

We just need one bite.

With the Wahoo ahead of us
it eats me up inside.

GREG: There's no sense
in going all the way in tonight.

We'll spend the night
and get an early start in the morning.

REED: We just pulled into the fish house,
gotta get this fish off the boat.

We're hoping that it's excellent quality,
it looks great.

DENNIS: FV Wahoo on the meat again.

REED: Yeah, you know,
we get lucky once in a while.

DENNIS: All right,
let's see what it's all about.

REED: All right.

DENNIS: Nice fish.

REED (off screen): Oh, yeah!

DENNIS: Wahoo quality.

REED: Pretty as all the rest I'm hoping.

DENNIS: All right,
let's take a look, see what we got.

REED: That's premium product, man.

BANKS (off screen):
That tail cut looked good.

I'm holding out hope.

REED (off screen): We need this one
to be top percentile.

Oh.

DENNIS: 224 pounds dressed.

REED: Nice fish.

Buyer looks at the color
of the fish and the fat content

to determine the price per pound.

DENNIS: Look at that.

BANKS (off screen):
Typical Wahoo core color.

-DENNIS: Yup.
-BANKS: It's looking good.

DENNIS: Well, it's got some fat.
That's a nice little fish.

REED: What do you think
we're gonna get for this guy?

Let's make it good now.

BANKS: Wahoo quality, don't forget.

REED (off screen): Think hard, think hard.

DENNIS: $16 a pound.

-BANKS: Nice!
-REED: We'll take that.

BANKS: Definitely.

REED: $3,500, all right!

This fish puts us ahead of the Pin Head

by about five grand

and ahead of the Frenzy
by almost nine grand.

Let's see 'em try to catch us now.

DENNIS: Nice job on the quality, guys.

-REED: All right, appreciate it.
-DENNIS: As usual, nice job.

REED: Pretty work.

All right, we'll see you tomorrow.

-BANKS: Get you a couple.
-DENNIS (off screen): Good luck.

REED: Let's turn and burn.

MARCIANO (off screen):
Yeah, cut up a batch of chunks, Jay.

MARCIANO: We brought some chum
just for (bleep) and giggles.

We're gonna throw a chum rod in the water

and see what the hell happens.

MARCIANO: The quota closes
at midnight tonight.

It's our last day of fishing.

These Southern boys
swear by their greensticks.

But I'm gonna try it old school today.

This is the way Jay and I
like to catch 'em anyway.

We got a whole bunch
of something chummed up.

JAY MUENZNER: Just watch.

(beeping)

MARCIANO (off screen):
All right, Jay, we're marking

some big ones right now.

Right under us.

(reel clicking, unspooling)

JAY: We're on! We're on, we're on.

We're on.

Good morning, Dave.

This is how I love being woken up.

(laughter)

MARCIANO (off screen): Everybody says
that we don't chum 'em down here,

you gotta use that stupid greenstick.

It took us about 15 minutes of chumming

to hook our first fish of the day,

and the sun's not even up yet.

We still gotta land him,

but we got him on the rod,
and that's a good thing.

JAY (off screen): He's not giving up.

MARCIANO (off screen): It's a big fish.

It's a 400-pound fish.

I'm pretty sure if we land this fish,

this is gonna be our biggest fish
of the season down here in the Carolinas,

and I'm just so psyched
we did it old school.

All right, let him tire himself out,
that's the best thing.

Straight down, down and dirty,
that's how we like 'em.

Let's get him
in the proper position, tails up.

All right, I'll spell you, Jay.

I'll get it.

Yeah. Yeah.

He's doing big wide circles or something.

We got a $5,000 fish on the line.

Okay, pump it again.

Just a little bump, put it hard starboard.

Hard starboard.

Starboard. Bump it.

Okay, there he is. We got color.

JAY (off screen):
Oh, yeah, that's a monster.

MARCIANO (off screen): There you go, Jay.
Take the rod.

We don't wanna spook him.

-JAY: All right.
-MARCIANO: All right?

Let's hope we get him.

JAY (off screen): Hit him.

(Marciano grunts)

MARCIANO (off screen):
There he is. We got color.

We got a $5,000 fish on the line!

JAY (off screen): Oh, yeah,
that's a monster.

MARCIANO: There you go, Jay, take the rod.

We don't wanna spook him.

-JAY: All right.
-MARCIANO: All right?

Let's hope we get him.

JAY (off screen): Hit him.

(Marciano grunts)

MARCIANO (off screen):
He didn't like that.

Man, this is a tough one.

He's running.

Ooh, he's screamin' the basket out.

That's not often,
after I hit 'em with the harpoon

it's usually over.

This tough guy
took half a basket of line out

right to the bitter end.

Chunkin' it old school.

All right, pull him right up.

We don't got him yet.

JAY (off screen): Hit him.

MARCIANO: It's not a good shot
until he's hanging on my tail rope.

Get your gaff.

All right.

-JAY: Man!
-MARCIANO: Here you go, Jay.

Get it on there, buddy.

-Yeah!
-JAY: You (bleep) snagged it!

-MARCIANO: Get him on there!
-JAY: Get him on!

MARCIANO: Get your other one on there!

We ain't got him.

JAY: Yeah!

We're good!

-MARCIANO: Now we got him, Jay!
-JAY: A 400-pound bluefin!

Tied up! That's a good one!

Yeah!

-MARCIANO: Nice.
-JAY (off screen): We caught him!

Yeah!

MARCIANO (off screen): We did it
old school chumming him up.

MARCIANO: Now the trick will be
if we can do it again.

JAY (off screen): Yeah!

Over the rail in the pail,

back to the dock to make the sale.

MARCIANO: That's how we like it.

All right, let's measure this guy up.

91, Jay.

MARCIANO: Still our biggest fish
of the season down here, Jay.

JAY (off screen): Good job.

MARCIANO (over radio): Bobber down.

Bobber down.

We got him.

GREG: Marciano's got one.

NICK: Damn, we need to get us one.

GREG: Yeah.

REED (off screen): It's a good sign.

There's fish in the area.

MARCIANO (over radio):
We really needed that.

TJ: Hard Merch got a fish.

JARRETT: Oh, man.

TJ: It's great to see a guy like that
have a great day on the water.

BRITTON: Yeah!

TYLER: Hats off to Dave, you know.

NICK: Just as we got here
Marciano hooked a fish.

If anybody's gonna come down here
and catch my fish,

you know, I want it to be
a real fisherman,

a guy that works hard out here
and puts his time in, and Marciano has.

So you gotta respect that.

Really, really good sign of life here.

A lot of the fleet's just showing up.

Come on, baby.

MARCIANO: We did this one chunkin'

before the sun come up.

Chunkin' it old school,
that's how we like it.

We can still get one more.
Let's hope we can get 'em.

BRITTON (off screen):
Tick-tock, tick-tock,

time's ticking.

We can fish till dark
and then it's gonna be...

(makes trumpet sound
to the tune of "Taps")

It's gonna be over.

Hey, go ahead and put something
different on your first position

and then change that other one out.

CAINE: All right.

BRITTON (off screen):
We gotta get jacked up here.

We need to get us a couple bites.

CAINE: Changing out some squids,
changing out some baits.

Trying to change our luck.

It just helps with your spirit.

We ain't gettin' the bites.

To be honest with you,
I don't know if it'll help or not,

but never give up.

Never ever, ever, ever, ever,
ever, ever, ever give up.

TIM: We could use a few bites over here,
right, Reba?

-Huh?
-(monitor beeping)

TJ (off screen): Holy (bleep).
You gotta see this (bleep) mark.

(beeping continues)

You can see right here
there's fish from 140 feet

all the way up to 70 foot.

If that doesn't make you horny,
I don't know what will.

I'd say it's just a matter of time

before Snap, Crackle and Pop
starts to happen here.

So far we're not having a productive day.

We're running out of time.

One good tuna
could turn it all around for us

so we have to catch it.

It's now or never.

(monitor beeping)

Definitely taking
a few lookings down here.

Things haven't gone
as quite as we wanted to.

Not quite to plan.

(beeping continues)

JARRETT: We're on! We just had a bite.

(Reba barking)

Oh!

TIM (off screen): What happened?

JARRETT (off screen):
We're on! We just had a bite.

(Reba barking)

Oh!

TIM (off screen): What happened?

JARRETT (off screen): Looked like a shark
came up and grabbed it,

a hammerhead right there.

TIM: Oh, yeah, look at that.

TJ: You can't control
sharks biting your lines.

There's nothing you can do about it.

JARRETT: All right, it looks like,
probably a shark, right?

TIM: Yeah, a little shark.

TJ: That said,
it doesn't make it suck any less.

Today's the last day
and we're not gonna give up.

There's a lot of fight left in us.

MARCIANO (off screen):
How's it going, boys?

-BUBBA: Dave, how are you?
-LUCAS: How you doin', Dave?

Good job.

MARCIANO: One last one for the season.

LUCAS: Last one. One for the road.

MARCIANO: All right, should we get him off
and see what he looks like?

LUCAS: Let's do it.
Get you goin' back home.

-JAY (off screen): Nice one, huh?
-BUBBA (off screen): Well, there you go.

JAY: Big.

MARCIANO: Chum fish too,
we did it old school.

LUCAS (off screen): Cool.

JAY (off screen): Nice fish.

LUCAS: Nice. Let's dress it up.

MARCIANO: Yeah, let's see
what he looks like on the inside.

LUCAS (off screen): All right, guys,
let's see what she weighs.

MARCIANO: All right.

JAY: High numbers,
high numbers, high numbers.

334!

Not bad at all.

MARCIANO: Biggest one of the season,

-so we'll take 'em.
-JAY (off screen): Def.

LUCAS: All right, guys,
see how this last one looks,

-see what it's worth.
-MARCIANO: All right, cool.

JAY (off screen):
Nice color all the way through.

LUCAS (off screen): That's impressive
of a fish that fat.

JAY: Look at all the fat right in here.

LUCAS: Yeah, grease ball.

MARCIANO: You gotta give us a good price
for this one, we really need it.

LUCAS: It'll be one of the last fish,
you know, for the season.

MARCIANO: Yeah.

So...

LUCAS: Safe to say this'll be
20 bucks a pound.

MARCIANO: Nice. Nice.

Way to go, Jay.

That's... That's excellent, man.
We needed that.

That gives us another seven grand

before we steam back home to Gloucester.

Without a doubt it was
our highest quality fish of the year,

it was our biggest fish of the season

and it was the fish
that really made the whole deal

coming down here worth it.

-JAY: Gets the boat back home.
-LUCAS (off screen): Yeah.

MARCIANO: Maybe you'll break 100 bucks
on your paycheck this week, Jay.

-LUCAS: Have a safe trip back.
-JAY (off screen): Thanks, brother.

LUCAS: All right.

MARCIANO: There's not enough time
for us to go back out and fish.

But I wonder how all those
other guys are doing out there.

NICK (off screen): Tearin' it up out here.

A long ways off
but I saw some white water flying.

There it goes again.

Straight off your bow.

GREG: I see them. Okay, I got 'em.

-NICK: Look at 'em. Right there.
-GREG (off screen): These are big fish.

Look at these fish. They're big ones.

The clock is ticking.

This is the end of the line.

NICK: We caught one yesterday.

We need to catch another
as fast as we can.

GREG: We're starting
to see a lot more activity.

NICK: Just gotta get right on 'em, dude,
they're all fast-moving, crazy.

Or get lucky.

-Look there.
-GREG (off screen): Ooh.

TJ: I'm hoping we turn
this situation around real fast

because we came here
to salvage our season,

not have another terrible one.

JARRETT: Oh, there they are!
Right there, dude.

Here we go.

There's some real ones.

Come on, baby!

I see one completely in the air.

TJ: Big ones? Big ones?

How many do you see?

JARRETT (off screen): I saw one.

They're over here to the right more, TJ!

TJ (off screen): How far?

JARRETT: Ah, probably like 50 yards
right off the side.

(Reba barking)

GREG: There's fish in the area.

NICK: We just got some more fish on top.

You know, trying to wait our turn,
get the right move on 'em.

GREG: Oh, man, we gotta get a bite here.

We're on!

NICK: Just had a bite here.

Whoo! Smoking her, too.

GREG (off screen): Hooked up!

All right!

NICK (off screen): Feels good, bud.

Full on drag, just a blind bite, man,

going along, looking for fish on top.

Man, this is big right here.

Big, big, big, big.
Way big for me, bud.

Tighten him up there.

Give me a minute, Cap.

Let's go, Cap!

GREG (off screen): Just a mean fish.

I mean, you can see him up on top,
his tail was flapping.

Watch him. Here he goes.

Tails and fins up on top.

Come on, baby.

NICK: Put it on him, Frenzy!

GREG: He's coming now. There we go.

Look at him right there. Oh!
Look at that fish rolling. In the... Oh!

NICK (laughs): Yeah!

Get you some of that, Wahoo!

TJ: Can you jig it a little?

Jig the stick.

(monitor beeping)

JARRETT: Right there.
Right in front of us to the right.

Right there.

TIM (off screen): Oh, right here.
Wow, they look big, man.

-Oh, watch out!
-JARRETT (off screen): We're on!

There we go!

Oh, yeah!

TJ (off screen): Reel, reel, reel!

Yeah, baby! Whoo!

Don't let him go.

TIM: All right, wheel down,
wheel down, wheel down.

JARRETT: He's coming up.

TIM (off screen): How's it look?

JARRETT (off screen):
He's a fighter and he's fighting.

TIM: Stay on him. Stay on him.

TJ (off screen): Keep it tight!

JARRETT (off screen): Holy (bleep)!

JARRETT: Oh, yeah!

TJ: Yeah, baby! Whoo!

TIM: All right, wheel down,
wheel down, wheel down.

JARRETT: He's coming up.

TIM (off screen): How's it look?

JARRETT (off screen):
He's a fighter and he's fighting.

TIM: Stay on him. Stay on him.

-TJ (off screen): Keep it tight!
-JARRETT (off screen): Holy (bleep)!

Ohh-ho-ho!

TJ: (bleep).

Damn. He pulled the hook.

Nothing you can do about it.

TIM: Are you kiddin' me?

JARRETT: That's it.

TJ (off screen): Totally sucks.

I don't know if we can
get another bite in time,

but we're gonna try.

GREG (off screen): Mean fish here.

Oh, boy.

NICK: We really need him.
He seems like a nice fish.

And I want him, I want him bad, Cap.

I got the shakes.

We have one fish right now
but I wanna catch another fish

like nobody's business.

I do not like to lose.

I definitely don't wanna lose
to the Wahoo.

NICK: Got him straight down and tight now,
man, right where we want him.

GREG: It's a nice fish,
400 pounder or better.

NICK: Could be $7,000, $8,000.
More than that.

You don't ever know,

depending on what his shape is like,
the color and all.

GREG (off screen): Look at the bend.

Oh, that's what we like.

That's how you know he's a nice one.

NICK: He's probably down there
less than 100 feet.

We ain't got him yet.

We'll get him.

PAUL: Come on, baby.

TYLER: The season's about to close.
This is crunch time.

That sun sets, it's game over.

Thanks for playing.

We gotta finish out strong here.

We know that the Wahoo and the Frenzy

have pulled ahead of us by one fish each.

And now Fishin' Frenzy hooked up again.

So it's critical that we
catch one more tuna

or we're out of the game.

This is it. Game, set, match.

PAUL: We could get one,

but the time is closing
big time right now.

(monitor beeping)

TYLER: Markin' them real good, Paul.

PAUL: Come on.

(beeping continues)

-There we go.
-TYLER (off screen): There it is!

There it is!

He got... Did you get it?

How did he miss it?

Come on, eat it, eat it, eat it!

(monitor beeping)

Jig it, jig it.

PAUL (off screen): Oh, wait a minute.
There he is!

-(reel unspooling)
-PAUL: We're on now!

TYLER: On the rod, on the rod.

On the stick, on the stick!

PAUL: We got him on, baby!

TYLER: Woo-hoo! Got him on!

-(Paul whistling)
-Yeah-hoo!

Got him on on the rod.
Got him on. Stroking it.

Finally, this is closing out
the season here.

PAUL: We've gotta clear
the lines right away.

-TYLER: We gotta--
-PAUL: Turn the other way.

TYLER: I'm going, I'm going, I'm going.

PAUL (off screen): Neutral, neutral.

TYLER: Got him on on the rod,
he's taking a lot of line.

Paul and I are more determined than ever
to smoke the Frenzy.

PAUL: Okay.

TYLER (off screen):
Got a lot of boats around us.

The sun's settin'.
This is gonna be a night fight.

Something I don't want.

This fish is a big fish,
500 pounder, easy!

And he took so much line off the bite,
there's white water explosion.

He ate the bait 20 feet
off the back of the boat.

I hate how he's out on top.
He's been hooked before.

PAUL (off screen):
Yup, he knows what he's doing.

Feels like he's a nice fish.

Oh, I saw him take the bait.

TYLER: There it is, yeah! $5,000!

Come on!

I don't know, final day tuna, $8,000.

Whoo!

PAUL: I think he's tail wrapped, Tyler.

TYLER: Yeah, he dumped a lot of line,
he was out on top.

We clanged him up.

We lost a tuna yesterday
because it was tail wrapped.

We cannot lose this fish.

PAUL (off screen):
Yeah, he's a tough fish.

-He's a nice fish.
-TYLER: We gotta get him.

Yeah, we're gonna be close to
make it in before 11:30 shut off.

PAUL (off screen):
We don't even have him yet.

TYLER (off screen):
Stay on him! Stay on him!

Let's get him, baby. Come on.

Can't lose this fish!

This makes or breaks our season.

Stay on him! Stay on him!

Let's get him, baby. Come on.

Can't lose this fish.

This makes or breaks our season.

PAUL (off screen): Come here, Tyler.

TYLER: Yup. Ready, brother.

Here, go, back down.
I'll get it. I'll get it.

PAUL: Nice.

TYLER: Got it, got it. Got it tight.

PAUL: It's at the end of the day.

If we lose him, we can't
just going back fishing

and try to get another one.

TYLER: Come on, let's get this fish.

We need this fish.

PAUL (off screen): Don't lose him.

TYLER: This changes our whole season.

-NICK: Coming up. Hurry, in a quick here.
-GREG (off screen): Yeah, I got him.

-Boom.
-NICK (off screen): Yes!

GREG: Nick, you got a gaff right here.

NICK: Okay.

(grunts)

GREG: I got his tail. Tail rope.

NICK: All right, I got him.
I got him, I got him.

GREG: Yes!

-(Nick laughing)
-Yes!

NICK: Get me a little antifreeze, Cap.

We need to get back to the dock
as soon as possible.

But we got a minute for a little toast,

so how about some good old moonshine?

I can't think of a better victory dance

than an old jug of old bootleg.

GREG: This jar is not gonna
last very long.

NICK: I hope not.

GREG: Mm!

-TYLER: Swivel.
-PAUL (off screen): It's a swivel.

TYLER (off screen): Coming up.

Color. Color.

Tail wrapped. Tail coming out.

-Okay, swivel.
-PAUL (off screen): Get the tail rope.

Hurry up. He's big.

He's big, dude.

(Paul laughing)

-Yeah!
-TYLER: Whoo!

PAUL: He's a big bastard.

He's huge!

-(Paul laughing)
-TYLER (off screen): Jumbo!

Whoo!

Yeah!

Cowabunga, baby!

PAUL (laughing): He's big!

TYLER (off screen):
Way to finish out the season.

PAUL: Put him down. Put him down.

Look at the size of him.

TYLER: Beautiful tuna-a-a!

Yeah! Carolina bluefin.

BOTH: Two, three.

GREG: It's a big fish.

NICK: Nice fish, dude. Stoked.

Look at his shape.

GREG (off screen): Wow.

(laughs)

What a way to end the season.

NICK: He definitely ain't goin'
to get no bigger.

GREG (off screen): No, he's not.

NICK: He is done growing.

GREG: How about that?

90 incher.

NICK (off screen): Nice fish there.

GREG: That's the nicest fish
we've caught all year.

NICK: Man, he's a butterball.

PAUL: 97 inches!

-Yes! Nice fish.
-TYLER: This fish has beautiful color.

We're gonna get paid
big money for this thing.

Thanks, pal,
you made my whole day.

NICK: Pretty work, Cap.
You might be Yankee by birth.

GREG: But I'm Southern by choice.

(laughter)

We got him.

I mean, here it is, last day
of the season, last fish in.

NICK: Man, pretty. Pretty, pretty.

GREG (off screen): That's great.

NICK: He's definitely going home with me.

GREG: Now we gotta haul ass
and get to the buyer in time.

It's gonna be close.

NICK: We're gonna beat the (bleep) out
of the Pin Wheel.

-Ready to go, bud.
-GREG: All right, Nick.

Let's get the hell out of here.

TYLER: We gotta get going.

PAUL: Yeah, we gotta freaking fly, man.

TYLER: Time is a ticking time bomb
right now.

I gotta get this fish offloaded tonight
before the season is over.

Frenzy, we're gonna bury you.

PAUL: Payday, baby!

(laughing)

TYLER (off screen): We made it.

BUBBA (off screen): Nice job, guys.

Another fish.

TYLER: It's another nice one too, dude.

BUBBA: Let's see what it looks like.

PAUL: Nice fish.

TYLER: The season is coming to a close.

This is a really big fish
with great shape.

We're really looking for good quality.

PAUL: We're looking for a good price.

TYLER: Cut it open
and let's see the good news.

Look at that. Can't wait to sell that.

BUBBA (off screen): Check out the quality
and see how much she weighs.

TYLER (off screen): Check out
this bad Larry.

This fish could be the one
that puts us on top.

BUBBA (off screen): 371 pounds dressed.

-PAUL: That's a nice fish.
-TYLER: Dude, that's a big one.

BUBBA: All right,
let's take a core sample.

TYLER (off screen):
Give me the big money, Bubba.

BUBBA: There's the money shot.

-PAUL (off screen): Oh, yeah.
-BUBBA: Good amount of fat in it.

Nice and oily. Good color.

TYLER: Can you send me back to Gloucester
with a smile on my face or what?

BUBBA: This fish will, uh...

-Does $19 a pound make you smile?
-PAUL: Oh, yeah!

Dude, that's over seven grand!

TYLER: Bingo. Couldn't ask
for anything better.

PAUL: Thanks, Bubba.

TYLER: With the weight, can't beat it.
Thanks, Bubba.

Great way to salvage the year.

We're on top of the leaderboard now.

We've knocked the Wahoo
out of first place.

Hopefully Frenzy's catch
lets us stay here.

GREG: Here it is, just about midnight.

Got our fish in. Got him in on time.

Last fish of the season.

A good way to end up.

LUCAS: What's going on, Greg?

GREG: We got him today.

-LUCAS (off screen): Good job, boss.
-GREG: We found us a couple.

LUCAS: Nice.

GREG (off screen): Glad to have him.

LUCAS: Let's check him out.

GREG: Yeah, take these things off of here.

Let's see what we got.

Let's get this one first.

LUCAS: See what it weighs.

228 pounds dressed, Greg.

All right, let's see how she looks.

GREG: Yeah.

NICK (off screen): Oh, look at that.

LUCAS: All right, guys, not that much fat.

GREG: So what do you think?
What do you think it'll bring us?

LUCAS: Fish like this...

it's gonna do 14 bucks a pound.

NICK: 14?

Hey, man, 14, I'll take it, man.

GREG: This is a good little fish
and it adds to the bottom line.

But we're still behind
Wahoo and Pin Wheel.

LUCAS: Let's see
how the second one looks.

-NICK: Yeah, man.
-GREG: Yeah, let's go check it out.

It all comes down to my last fish.

Nice one.

Nice and round.

We got a real nice fish here.

I'm really hoping for a big price.

We need a good price
to take the lead here.

LUCAS: Let's see what she dresses.

347 pounds.

GREG (off screen): 347.

-LUCAS: Good job, bro.
-GREG: All right.

LUCAS: Let's see what she's worth.

The core's nice and clear.

-Very nice color here.
-GREG: Nice color, yeah.

LUCAS: Little bit of oil,
just the right amount of fat.

GREG: We're about $6,000 behind Wahoo

and 7,000 behind the Pin Wheel.

At 347 pounds, we need $22
a pound to take the top spot.

So what do you think we're gonna get
per pound on this one?

LUCAS: 26 bucks a pound for that.

-(laughing)
-NICK: Yeah!

Good job, buddy!

-GREG: Lucas, thank you.
-NICK: Yeah, thank you, man.

NICK: Thank you, buddy.

-GREG: That's over nine grand.
-NICK (off screen): Yeah.

-Nice!
-GREG: I like it.

A healthy payday.

We had a great season,

we caught the most tuna

and we beat out the Pin Wheel
and the Wahoo. Yeah!

The Frenzy's right there on top.

I mean, I couldn't ask for anything more.

It is...

I'm happy.

It's-it's a really good way
to end up this year.

TYLER: Second place for the season.

-LUCAS (off screen): Oh, yeah?
-TYLER: Yeah.

You know, I would have loved
to come in first place down here.

Hats off to Fishin' Frenzy.

Greg, you're an unbelievable fisherman.

PAUL: We came down here
hoping to make some money, and we did it.

And we had a lot of fun doing it.

TYLER: Let's go back to Gloucester
and do it all over again.

PAUL: I'm definitely
coming here next year.

TYLER: I'm just happy
I beat Reed on the Wahoo.

REED: Losing to the Pin Head
irritates me to no end.

BANKS: That's a sore subject.

GREG (off screen): Hey!

You got my money?

REED: I cannot believe I gotta
pay those guys five grand.

As a matter of fact, I do.

GREG: Wow.

Ho-ho-ho! There we go!

NICK: It feels pretty good to
see the Wahoo go down in flames.

BANKS: Consider it almost
like a loan until next year.

REED: The season was all right for us.

We still caught some nice fish.

We'll get 'em next year.

MARCIANO: It was a big risk for us
coming down here.

We kicked ass without a doubt.

JAY: The Southern guys gave us
a bunch of (bleep).

They thought we weren't
gonna catch anything.

We're the slow boat,
we're the ugly duckling,

and we showed 'em that we can do it too.

BRITTON: I barely made enough
to take care of my family,

but I know God will provide.

CAINE: I reckon it ain't gonna be
so nice next year.

TJ: I've had two terrible seasons
in a row.

I know Dad's definitely gonna question
my approach at times.

I just hope he doesn't start
to second-guess my judgment.

TIM: With the boat not being profitable,

I'm not happy.

Some changes have to be made.

NICK: You, Yankees, go on home now.

Bring your (bleep) down here again,

see what happens.

(gunshots)

(laughs) Yeah!
