Walker, Texas Ranger (1993–2001): Season 9, Episode 5 - Winds of Change - full transcript

A man who calls himself The Chairman talks with various mob bosses and informs them that he knows who among their people are undercover operatives sent by the government. He offers to weed them out for a fee. But one man, named Cardoza who is based in Texas refuses but when the Chairman tells him that a Senator is in Dallas to meet with Alex on how to deal with him, he claims that it doesn't bother him. But, he actually decides to take her out. The Chairman then informs the Rangers who stop Cardoza's men. Later when the Senator is informed of undercover agents turning up dead, she decides to form a task force to find who is doing it and she wants Walker to head it. Walker accepts and he brings in, Trivette, Gage and Cooke to help him and he is told that a New York cop named Rosetti is part of his team. Thinking that whoever is doing this must be hacking the Government's computers, Trivette gets a hacker who is in jail to help them. They start by going after Cardoza.

The FBI is ready to crack.

When?

Any minute now.

And not just any
senator, Walker.

Angela Rhodes heads up

the Subcommittee for
Crime and Racketeering.

Sounds like you're

Well, yes.

I mean, I'm going to
meet her today, and I just...

I want to be prepared.

I want to think about
what I want to say.

Like what?

I don't know. You
want to help me?

Alex, talking to
politicians is not my forte,

and you know that.

I know.

Silly idea.

What would you say if
you were about to meet

a woman or a person
that you really admired?

Well, I would say...

"Hi. Nice to meet you."

But on the other
hand, if I met a...

special young lady...

that I admire, I might say,

"What luscious lips you have."

Okay, I can breathe now.

Got 'em.

Bring the clients online.

Gentlemen, thank you
for agreeing to meet me.

Who are you?

Well, you can call me

the Chairman, Mr. LaForge.

Chairman?

What kind of name is that?

It's the name of
somebody that's gonna

make you an offer
you can't refuse.

Well, who do you think
you are, the Godfather?

No. No, Mr. Cardoza, I don't.

I'm someone who can

give you the opportunity
of ridding yourself

of the one thing that's
been preventing you

from reaching your
maximum business potential.

Narcs, rats, undercover agents.

I can give you full protection
from every federal agency

there is.

The FBI, the DEA,

U.S. Marshals, DIA, all of them.

I can find each and every
one of them in your operation,

rid you of them, and
all for the nominal cost

of $15 million a year.

Now, gentlemen, that is
such a small price to pay

for peace of mind.

And avoiding

the possibility of prison time.

Now, why should we believe you?

Yeah, we can't see you,

we don't know where you are.

You could be with the FBI.

Maybe.

Allow me a
demonstration, gentlemen.

Mr. Jackson, the man
sitting to your right.

You know him as Brent O'Shea.

He's a trusted lieutenant
of yours, is he not?

Yeah.

Did you know that his
real name is Jeb Lawson,

and he's with the FBI?

And I'd be very
surprised if Agent Lawson

isn't wearing a wire.

Check him.

Why you dirty, rotten...

Get him out of here.

I'm in, Mr. Chairman.
You convinced me.

Well, maybe your little service

works for these
guys, but not for me.

I take care of my own backyard.

Really, Mr. Cardoza?

Did you know that

today Senator Angela Rhodes

of the Senate Subcommittee
on Crime and Racketeering

is meeting with the Texas
officials on how to stop you?

Yeah, I already know about that.

Looks like there's nothing
you can do for me, so, uh...

excuse me, gentlemen.

I've got more
important things to do.

He didn't know.

You feel it's really that
serious, Senator Rhodes?

The war on crime

is not one we
can afford to lose.

But now Dallas has become
the home to the nation's

top crime organization.

Headed up by Alberto Cardoza.

Cardoza's operations span
from drugs to prostitution,

murder and
everything in between.

I want you to kill them all,

starting with that damn senator.

Got me?

Where are the
boys going, Alberto?

Just a little target practice,

nothing to worry about.

So, do you have it?

Hey, talking to the master.

So who do I contact

with this anonymous tip?

Well, it's Texas, right?

Give it to the rangers.

What's going on
with your computer?

It's my alert program.

Like a ranger 911.

What does it say?

It's an anonymous
tip about Cardoza.

Alberto Cardoza?

Yeah, it says
he's planning to...

eliminate Senator Rhodes

at her meeting this
afternoon at 2:00.

That's 20 minutes from now.

Isn't Alex there?

She's not answering. Let's go.

Call for a chopper.

This is a blueprint

for a joint operation
between the FBI, DEA

and the Texas law enforcement.

With it, I believe that

we can gather enough
evidence against Mr. Cardoza

to bring him to justice,
but to achieve this,

we must work together.

Come on. Move, guys!

Now, now, now, go!
