Walker, Texas Ranger (1993–2001): Season 6, Episode 13 - Tribe - full transcript

Sam Coyote, Walker's friend, the Sheriff at the reservation has been seeing Nora Shannon, an archaeologist who's been working on the reservation. When he proposes and she refuses things between them go bad. At the same time an oil magnate who knows that there's oil under Shannon's site plans to get it. And part of his plans is to kill Nora and frame Coyote. While Walker has no doubt that Coyote's innocent; the Feds don't think so. So in order to keep them from taking Coyote off the reservation and buy some time to prove his innocence, Walker has Coyote's deputy arrest him and with help from the Tribal Judge to stall the Feds.

You should eat
something, Dr. Shannon.

(sighs)

I know this is a
Neolithic campsite.

Everything indicates it.

Even the Indians here on
the reservation believe it...

but nothing.

Not a tool or an ornament,

not even an animal bone.

GEORGE: Hey, Washoe,
how are you doin'?

Good, George. Good to see ya.

(chuckles)

Been a long time, Washoe.

Yeah.

So Sam told you about
what happened, right?

WALKER: Yeah, he did.

What have you come
up with out here, George?

Nothin' much. Got
conflicting stories.

Some people say they saw,
like, jeeps, pickup trucks,

maybe two, 12.

SAM: It happened fast, Washoe.

Nobody saw much.

They were all
running for their lives.

The only thing
everyone agrees on

is the guys who did it
were all wearing war paint.

Any idea who could
have done this?

Tell you right now, it
wasn't anybody from the res.

SAM: Black Fox is right.

We know these people
and we know 'em all.

Everyone's been real
supportive of this dig.

Yeah, very supportive.

Especially, uh, Sam.
He's been very supportive.

(clears throat)

"Very," meaning what?

GEORGE: Meaning,
uh, Dr. Nora Shannon...

She's the archeologist
in charge of the dig.

Remember the time when Sam
fell in love with Sara Bright Path?

Remember that?

Yeah. Sure do.

Yeah, well, this thing he's got
for the doc is, uh, much worse.

Much worse than that.

Black Fox, you talk too much.

(chuckles)

Hey, I'm just talkin' the truth.

Well, Sam, do you mind
if I talk to Dr. Shannon

about what happened down here?

Not at all. In fact, I've been
wanting you to meet her.

(sighs)

Nora.

Hi, Sam.

Well, Cordell Walker, I presume.

Dr. Shannon.

Sam's told me all about you.

Eighty percent of
which I couldn't believe,

it was so fantastic.

The remainder was
simply incredible.

Well, Sam has a
tendency to exaggerate.

(chuckles)

Uh, let's break for dinner.

Join us? Sure.

DR. SHANNON:
Most evidence we have

for the prehistoric hunting
people I'm looking for

has been uncovered
much farther north,

but I believe they were
indigenous to this area

before moving east
and becoming, well,

the Cherokee, Creek, Chippewa...

The great southeastern tribes.

You seem to know a lot

about Native American
history, Dr. Shannon.

(laughs)

It's my passion.

But you're here to, uh,
help investigate this incident,

not listen to me run
on about anthropology.

MANDELL: What's to investigate?

I mean, you got a
half-dozen reservation Indians

who got all liquored up

and decided to pay
us white-eyes back

for all their problems.

That's all.

( tense theme playing)

What do you think, Dr. Shannon?

I think they were men
with paint on their faces.

That's all I'm certain about,

Despite Mr. Mandell's beliefs.

And one other thing.

What's that? Whoever they are,

they're not scaring me off.

Okay.

We got a problem, don't we?

Yeah, we do.

Sam has motive
and opportunity, but...

No alibi.

Exactly.

We may believe him, but...

I doubt if a jury will.

Especially a white jury.

No offense, Washoe,
but Dr. Shannon

was a bigtime white
woman, and, well,

Sam's a low-rent Cherokee cop.

Who are they

That's why you're gonna

What are you talking about?

Well, only the

arrest on the reservation.

And if the FBI arrests him?

They're gonna take him
off the reservation for trial.

Quite a coincidence.

He's been on the

murder, that would help.

can do it, you can.

Okay, well... Well,
