Ultimate Beastmaster (2017–2018): Season 3, Episode 8 - Semifinal #2 - full transcript

[The Beast growling]

[The Beast snarling]

[Tiki] Three athletes
have already punched a ticket

to the Ultimate Beastmaster final.

[Kyung] Our boy, Spider-Max!

[Tiki] James Drake,
making his way to the wall.

[Dannii]
...so happy for both of the Aussies!

[Punk] With three spots left,

which of these six semifinalists
will join them?

[Tiki] From Mexico, Hector Martinez.

Representing Germany, Norman Lichtenberg.

[Punk]
Australia has three competitors tonight:

Mark Greenham...

Luke Shelton...

and Jesse Turner.

[Tiki] And finally, from Great Britain,
Corbin Mackin.

[Punk] Six men enter, but only three
will claim their spot in the finals.

[Tiki] The battle is about to begin.

It's the second semifinal round
of Ultimate Beastmaster.

[Punk] This is it, guys.

We could be up for some
Aussie-on-Aussie violence here, Tiki.

[Tiki] Who will come out
on top tonight, Punk?

[Punk] My money
is on Mexico's Hector Martinez.

His upper-body and grip strength
are going to be hard to beat.

[Tiki] Yes, and the British hosts
have gone the extra mile tonight.

We are kitted out, top to toe,
in these outrageous outfits,

supporting our boy.

[Kate] Corbin Mackin, the man
that the hopes of a nation are resting on.

[Tiki] The stakes are beyond high,
and just like last semifinal,

the same rules apply tonight.

[Punk] These semifinalists
are going to have to run the entire course

from start to finish in one single run.

No level breaks, no pit stops.

They must attempt to go
from Level 1 to Level 2 to Level 3

and rack up as many points
as they possibly can

in order to move to the finals.

[Tiki] Each semifinalist will have
one extra life in their back pocket.

There are various designated checkpoints
along the course.

If a competitor fails,

they can use their extra life
and start back at the nearest checkpoint,

but they will risk losing the points
that they've already earned.

The top three competitors that advance
to the final will win $10,000,

but more importantly,

they'll have an opportunity
to become the Ultimate Beastmaster

and win even more money.

[Punk] The atmosphere out here
is crackling with excitement,

and you can feel it.

Let's get it on!

[woman whoops]

[Punk] First up
is Australian Jesse Turner.

[Jesse] I feel good about tonight.

It's always a bit tough
going on the early side,

but it's just one obstacle at a time,
so make it to the end...

get past the second
and get onto the third.

[Punk]
Jesse is not only competing for Australia,

but also for someone very close to him.

[Jesse] I'm doing the Ultimate Beastmaster
for my family,

and especially for my wife, Holly.

We got married five months ago,
and I'm doing it for her.

-Pronouncing them husband and wife.
-[Holly whoops]

-[officiant] You may kiss your wife.
-[Jesse] Love you.

[guests cheering]

I'm so proud of you. Good luck, baby.
I love you so much.

She's a legend.

She's been by my side
ever since I met her,

always egging me on, always pushing me.

For you, babe, I got this.

[crowd chants] Come on, Jesse! Come on!

[Tiki] Jesse Turner from Australia,

one of three Australians
in this semifinal.

[Punk] Yeah,
Jesse's got all-around athletic ability,

showing off the hops,

not to mention upper-body strength
completing Level 2.

[Tiki] Yeah, and he almost finished
Viper Climb on Level 3,

which has been a killer
for these athletes.

He's got to be considered
a favorite tonight.

Gilles, Jesse Turner is up!

He is Sandy's...

crush!

[Tiki] And here he goes
up the Mouth of the Beast.

Up Lock Jaw and onto Gear Head.

[Punk] Big jump coming up
onto the gear that will move.

[Tiki] Half-a-ton gear here
swinging back and forth.

The best bet:

use the momentum of the gear,
let it propel you.

Oh, what a star!

-No hands! No hands!
-What a star!

[Tiki] He aces that one.

You can see there, Punk,
why he's a parkour speed-running champ.

[Punk] Absolutely.
Now, he is at the first checkpoint.

[Tiki] From this point on, if he falls,
he can reset himself back to this point.

[Punk] Now he has to leap from here

and focus to grab that chain,
which he does.

Here goes Jesse, flying off Face Plant.

[Tiki] Here he is making his way
onto the first pyramid of Hyper Jump.

[Punk] Now, do you go
for this Point Thruster?

[Tiki] Yes, you do. And he nailed it!

-He got it!
-There you go. Come on, Jesse.

[Tiki] That extra ten points
could come in handy later on, Punk.

I love you. I love you, whatever happens.

Whatever happens, I love you!

Ooh!

[Tiki] Sizing up the jump
to this Break Neck.

[Punk] None of these athletes
have attempted this yet.

[Tiki] A series of rotating gears,

some of which lower on contact.

[Punk] It looks dangerous, so I guess
Break Neck is an apt name for it.

I'm getting dizzy.

[Tiki] I'm telling you,
if you hang on too long,

you get out of sorts a little bit.

[Punk] You can see the problem-solving
going on in his head right here.

He's a little bit stuck.
What's he going to do?

Let's just remind ourselves that,
in this semifinal,

there are a sickening three Australians.

And as much as I do love Jesse,

I think we do need to see
a couple of Australians fail.

-[Punk laughs] Oh, you saw him let go.
-[Tiki] Does he have the strength?

Yes, he gets to the third one.

Now, he's got one more transition to make
before he gets onto the Mag Wall.

[Nick] You've just got to go.

-You must jump!
-I'm going to be so nervous here.

[Nick] Come on, Jesse.

-[Tiki] He has 60 points. No!
-[Punk] No!

[both yell]

[wails] No, no, no!

-[Punk] Aussie, Aussie, Aussie...
-[Tiki] Sixty points for Jesse Turner.

My heart is broken, like this...

[Tiki] Remember, in the semifinal,

Jesse now has the option
to take his extra life

and reset back to Face Plant.

[Punk] Well, it's a gamble because there's
the risk he'll do worse than 60 points,

but as we saw in the qualifier,

Jesse knows how to use failure
as motivation to do better.

I'm gonna take the life,
give it one more crack.

[Punk] He's going for it.
He's going for it, Tiki.

Never give up.

[Tiki] This is a smart decision for Jesse

because with the kind of competitors
we have here tonight,

60 points just isn't going to cut it.

[Punk] Jesse Turner of Australia
starts back at Face Plant

with the points he had accumulated
up until that point.

[Tiki] He makes the jump.

Here he is, making his way
onto the first pyramid of Hyper Jump.

Nicely done.

[all cheer] Yes!

[Tiki] Taking a gander
at the Point Thruster.

-He takes a look at it.
-[Punk] Hey!

-[Dannii whoops]
-Oh, he hit that.

-He hit!
-Booyah!

[Tiki] Throwing a protest up at the Beast.
It looked like he hit it.

[Punk] Let's take a look.

[Tiki] Oh, he hit the bottom corner.
He didn't fully press the Thruster.

If it doesn't light up,
you don't get the points.

[Tiki] Good point, Punk.

[crowd cheers] Oi, oi, oi!

-[man] Aussie, Aussie, Aussie!
-Oi, oi, oi!

This is his second try,
and he didn't have a problem with this.

It was just Mag Wall
that got him last time.

[Tiki] The problem
with using your lifeline

is that you have to go back immediately,

and as you see with Break Neck,
some of those cylinders drop down on you

and make your transition
so much more difficult.

That would be making me so dizzy.

[groans]
That's like those rides at the fairs.

Can't do them.

[Punk] He's got to keep moving.

[Tiki] He's got to keep swinging,
almost monkey bar-ish.

Otherwise, you get stuck.

[Punk]
Yeah, and if you get stuck, you fall.

Come on, Jesse!

[Punk] This is where he failed
in his last attempt,

so he's actually ten points
behind that score right now

after missing the Point Thruster
at Hyper Jump.

-[Tiki] Can he make the jump?
-[Punk] Very good. He nails it.

-[Punk] Yeah! All right!
-[Tiki] He's got to move quickly.

Those bricks fall off.

-Point Thruster! Okay, we got that one.
-Can't deny him that one.

[Tiki] Seventy points right now.
One more blue line to cross.

He's at 75 points.

[Punk] Jesse Turner
now has more points than his first run.

Now, he's going for more.
That Mega Thruster is within reach.

-[Tiki] It looks like he is low.
-[Punk] Oh, God. He's falling.

-Oh, no!
-[Tiki] He falls!

[screams] No!

What?

[Dannii groans] Oh, Jesse!

[Tiki] Jesse Turner,
with 75 points, falls,

trying to work his way up
to that Mega Thruster, Punk.

[Punk] His left foot
loses its grip on the mag,

and once that happens,

if your hands aren't already supporting
your body weight,

there's only one place to go,

and that's down.

Yeah, everything was feeling really good.
It was just...

I just got on there and didn't really
hold on as well as I'd have liked to,

so, I did as best as I could.

Yeah, I'm just... My forearms are stuffed.

[Jessie laughs]

[Tiki] Jesse Turner of Australia
starts off the semifinal

with a score of 75.

Remember, Punk,
the top three move on to the final.

[Punk] Up next is Mexican rock-climber
Hector Martinez.

For this semifinal, I believe
I am physically and mentally prepared.

Mexico, we are going to the final
and we'll give it our all.

We are gonna get to the last obstacle
and we are going to win.

[Tiki] This guy's story is amazing.

It hasn't been long since he woke up
unable to hear from his left ear.

I was nauseous, extremely dizzy,
I had vertigo, and my head hurt.

The doctors said it would be
a long time until I could climb again,

but I didn't want to believe it.

This couldn't be my reality.

I had to overcome a lot of obstacles
to get my balance back.

So, I started training and...

after two months,
I was ready to come back.

It hasn't affected my rock-climbing.

In fact, the hearing in my right ear
has gotten stronger

to compensate for my left ear.

It has taught me that if I work hard,
I can accomplish anything I want.

I will be the Ultimate Beastmaster!

[Tiki] Here is one of the favorites,

Hector Martinez,

who was outstanding
in the qualifying round.

[Punk] Yeah, he moves unlike any
competitor we've seen in this competition.

He's nimble, fast,
and has amazing grip strength.

[Tiki] He is the only competitor
that finished Level 2 and Level 3.

Only 20 years old, Punk.

I feel like Hector Martinez
is the favorite tonight.

[all mimic mariachi band]

[Tiki] Get this, Punk.
Today is actually Hector's birthday.

[Luis] Today, we're celebrating
my buddy's birthday!

[Inés] That's right! Happy birthday!

[Tiki] A ticket to the finals would be
a pretty good birthday gift here, Punk.

[Punk] A lot of people I've spoken to

think that this kid
can and will go all the way.

-In fact, you're one of them.
-[Tiki] Yes, I do.

He's just got so much confidence.

[Luis] Hector! This is for you, brother!

-That's right.
-Cheers.

-Cheers!
-Cheers!

[Luis] Lift my mustache, lift my mustache.

-Cheers, Señorita!
-[Kyeong] Cheers!

[Tiki] Notice on Hector's shoulder,
there is a drawing of a Band-Aid.

It's in honor of his teammate,
Allan Cardoso.

Allan was not able to continue
in this Beastmaster competition

because he dislocated his shoulder.

[Punk] Good to see teammates
supporting teammates.

[Luis] Javi,
give a shout-out for your buddy.

Go, Hector!

Hector!

[Tiki] Hector Martinez
making his way over to Hyper Jump.

He is a climber, so a lot of these hanging
obstacles shouldn't be an issue for him.

Let's go, Hector!

-Let's go, Hector!
-Let's go!

-[Inés] You've learnt Spanish so fast.
-Thank you so much.

[all chant] Olé! Olé, olé, olé!

[Tiki] There is a big Olé, olé, olé
chant going on in the crowd.

Olé! Olé, olé, olé!

Olé, olé!

[Tiki] He is flying
through these obstacles like Tarzan.

-Whoa. Amazing!
-[Punk] Wow. Wow.

[Tiki] Does a reverse pivot.

That was fantastic.

[Punk] Hopefully,
he's not making himself dizzy.

[Tiki] He's got a lot of flair.

His first... his first look at Mag Wall.

-[Punk] One more.
-[Tiki] He has to get more momentum.

-He makes the jump onto Mag Wall. Wow.
-[Kyung] Yeah, tequila, tequila!

-[Luis] Come on!
-[Kyeong] Tequila, tequila!

-[Tiki] He is a climbing sensation.
-Come on, Hector!

Let's go, Hector! You can do it!

-Hector! Hector! Hector!
-[Tiki] Oh, his footing, his footing.

Get your feet up!

He's going up for the Mega Thruster.

He is an unbelievable climber.

An extra 13 points for Hector Martinez.

He's got to make one more swing.

Yes, yes! One, two...

[Tiki] He's got to get a lot of momentum.

-Yeah!
-[Tiki] He nails it!

[Inés laughs]

[Tiki] And he hits
the finishing Point Thruster.

Hector Martinez crushing it.

Off he goes now to Level 2.

Watch this spinning reverse
here on the replay.

-Amazing.
-[Punk] Wow.

[Tiki] And watch his jump
onto the Mag Wall, Punk.

-His feet don't even catch.
-[Punk] I got nervous.

[Tiki] He catches with his hands only.

That is amazing upper-body strength.

[Punk]
Let's continue this spectacular run.

One hundred and thirteen points
for Hector Martinez

as he traverses Level 2.

[Tiki] Hector Martinez
is on fire right now.

Dropping down to Pivot Point,
this is the second checkpoint.

Tiki, look at this kid.
He doesn't tire. He's still smiling.

Punk, he is my odds-on favorite
to go the entire way.

Flying up Digestive Track.

Wow, what a jump!

Moving up to the second one.

Can he make this leap?

This is an eight-foot jump for a 5'6" man.

-Can he make it?
-[Punk] He's made it before.

[Luis] Look how far he's got
with only one life.

He is going to do well now.

[Luis] Look how many points.
He's still accumulating them!

[both groan]

-Oh, so close! So close!
-Into the Blood.

[shouts]

[both groan]

[Tiki] Hector Martinez is down
into the Blood of the Beast.

I am shocked, Punk.

One hundred and thirty-eight points.

[Punk] That's good enough for first place,

but there are still
four competitors left to go, Tiki.

[Tiki] He's got to try again.

A young, agile athlete like Hector
can definitely make that jump.

I'm not done here.
I'm going for the extra life!

Let's do this!

[Punk] He's going to do it.
He's having too much fun.

Uno más for Hector Martinez.

[Punk] And all the other competitors,
they look a little bit concerned.

[Tiki] Hector has 123 points
as he resets to Pivot Point.

[Inés and Luis chant] Olé, olé, olé!

-[Inés] Go, Mexico!
-[Luis] My buddy has got my heart!

[Inés] Here comes Hector!

[all cheer] Mexico!

[Tiki] Flying up Digestive Track.
Look how high he is to make this jump.

[Punk] Here he is back on the Dreadmills.

He needs to start thinking

about how he's going to approach the jump
differently this time.

[Tiki] You see him trying to push
that Dreadmill closer to that pad,

which was eight feet away.

[Punk] An interesting strategy for sure.
He's got it swinging now.

Let's see if he can get the timing right
on the jump.

[Tiki] Oh, no. He hesitated.

He didn't go,
and now the swinging has stopped.

He really is going to have
to stretch out and reach for it now.

[Punk] He's just wasting time here.
He's burning himself out.

He's taking his time.
He knows how to do it!

He's making us nervous!

-[Tiki] Here he goes.
-[Punk] Oh, no chance.

-[groans] No!
-[Punk] He burned his legs out, there.

Props to Hector for trying
a new approach on that second attempt,

but he fell at the exact same spot,
so he doesn't gain or lose any points.

My problem on this obstacle
was that my legs got really tired.

No matter how much I tried to recover,
I was in pain.

As I moved,
my legs were hurting more and more.

Buddy! Happy birthday!

-Yeah! Come on!
-Come on! Happy birthday!

Thank you.

This is for Mexico.

-This one's for Mexico!
-Come on!

[Tiki] Hector Martinez
sure has a lot to celebrate

as that run puts him in first place,
ahead of Australian Jesse Turner.

[Punk] Our second Australian competitor
is Luke Shelton.

[Luke] I fell off Gear Head last time,
so I'm feeling a bit better about it.

Mentally,
I feel the strongest I've ever felt,

so I'm gonna bring it home for Australia.

Let's go! [whoops]

[Punk] Luke loves competition,

but he's actually even more passionate
about his family.

[Luke] One, two, three, go.

I have two daughters,
Madison who's four and Ayla who's five.

-Stand up tall. Stand up tall.
-[Ayla] This is crazy.

[Luke] I know my two daughters
will be cheering for me back home.

While I absolutely love competition,

being a dad has been the most fulfilling
thing that has ever happened to me.

Madison and Ayla,
Daddy's doing this for you.

After being dusted before
by this obstacle,

he's going to be sussing it out this time.

Come on, mate.

[Tiki] He failed Gear Head.

[Punk] Yeah, it's got to be in his head,
so if he can conquer this,

I think it's gonna give him
a tremendous boost of self-esteem.

-Oh, God.
-[Tiki] Just barely. Oh, my goodness.

[Punk laughs]

-[Tiki] Wow.
-[Nick] There by inches, mate!

[Tiki] He lacks the leaping ability,

but he got through to Face Plant,

which is the first checkpoint
here in our semifinal.

[Tiki and Punk yell]

[Tiki] Oh, he hangs on!

Yes, he gets it!

He's on the chain, but he's got to get up.

-[Tiki] Can he make it over?
-[Punk] He needs the momentum.

-He's at Hyper Jump.
-[Tiki] He's low.

-Come on!
-[man] Take your time!

[Tiki] Will he go for the Point Thruster?

He didn't even look.

-Come on, Luke.
-[Tiki] Thirty points for Luke Shelton.

Now, he is up to the new obstacle here,
on the semifinal.

[Punk] This should be a cakewalk

for somebody as dedicated
to fitness as Luke.

[Tiki] It should be.
How will Luke Shelton fare?

[man shouts] Come on!

He is doing well so far.

Now, it is far away.

But it's not far for long arms.

He has long arms. It's not far for Luke.

Long arms, like a monkey.

[Tiki] Here he is. He got there quickly.

Can he make it to the Mag Wall?

He's never done it before.

He bangs it!

[Dannii whoops]

Jeez, he did that well.
Hit the Point Thruster. Yes!

[Punk] Very nice, very nice.

[Tiki] Once he crosses this blue line,

75 points for Luke Shelton.

-[Punk] Go faster. Go faster.
-[Tiki] Will he go for the last Thruster?

[Punk] Oh, God!

[hosts groan]

No, Luke!

[Dannii groans]

[Punk] The key to Mag Wall
is keeping your weight spread out evenly,

and as Luke dropped down here,

he puts both hands and all of his weight
onto one brick, and his grip gave out.

[Tiki] And I've got to wonder
how his grip strength is

after all of that effort.

He's risking 60 points by resetting
all the way back to Face Plant.

It may not be a smart move for him

if he's just too exhausted
to do better this time.

[Punk] I think Luke should go again.

He's in third place and there's still
three more competitors to go.

I'm going to take my extra life.

Yes!

There it is. He's going for it.

Lukey Shelton
is going to have another crack.

He's now reset back to Face Plant
with just 15 points.

[man cheers] Let's go, Luke! Let's go!

Here he goes on Face Plant.
Come on, Luke.

-We want some good points up there.
-[Nick] So nerve-wracking.

[Tiki] He needs to be careful here.

Remember,
he had a little trouble with this earlier.

-Oh, my goodness!
-[Punk] What a disaster.

[shouts] No!

Oh, my God!

[Dannii] What happened?

No way!

[Punk] What a disaster!

[Tiki] Luke Shelton had 75,
regresses to 15.

That's what they call, "Going Down Under."

[Nick moans]

I tore my finger
on the last jump to that thing,

and if I had jumped further, I wouldn't
have had to use so much grip strength,

and I maybe wouldn't have torn my finger.

But no excuses.

I just need to grow, learn,

get better and come back stronger.

[Tiki] So, Luke Shelton
winds up with just 15 points,

putting him in third place.

Anything can happen,
but with three runners still to go,

it doesn't look good for Luke.

[Punk] Next is Germany's
Norman Lichtenberg.

He's a parkour athlete,

and these guys can take a beating
sometimes, honing their craft.

[Norman] I fell during a parkour show
when I wasn't really aware.

I didn't reach the pole,

so I slipped and did half a backflip
of about two and a half meters

onto the concrete floor.

I've had these scars ever since.

Although it wasn't always easy,

I never lost my optimism
and maintained my outlook in life.

The Beast stands no chance
against my parkour skills.

All right, ladies and gentlemen,
they are all here in our booth.

Everybody, come to the front.
Our faces are seen enough.

[Tiki] The entirety of Team Germany
is hanging out in the German hosts' booth.

-Wow.
-[Punk] Nicely done.

That could be trouble for Luke Shelton.
Norman's moving very quickly.

[Tiki] Easily climbing up
to the top of Gear Head.

-[Punk] Clutching for dear life.
-[Tiki] Yes, you need momentum to make it.

That's 15 points for Norman,

and because he did it in a faster time,
that means that Luke Shelton is out.

Oh, yeah. He's the best German here.

-Hey. Let's go, guy.
-He's like the second Norman.

[Tiki] Onto Face Plant.

The last time that he was here,
he successfully grabbed the chain,

but couldn't make
the transfer to Hyper Jump.

Come on!

Yes! He has it!

-[Jeannine] Very good!
-[Micky] Okay.

[Tiki] This is where he failed before.

Let's see if he's got it figured out
the second time around.

He's spinning in circles.

-[Punk] Hey!
-[Tiki] He nails it.

[Punk] That's got to give him
some confidence, Tiki,

conquering that obstacle
when he couldn't do it last time.

[Tiki] He's further
than he's ever been on Level 1.

-Glancing at the Thruster.
-[Punk] He's eyeballing it.

-[Tiki] He goes for it.
-[Punk] Did he get it?

[Tiki] He missed it.

He was too short.

Norman is only 5'8".

Here's a quick replay. He swings.

He's just too short.
His arms aren't long enough.

[Punk] Break Neck up next.

-Fast, fast.
-[Tiki] Makes the transition.

-Flying through.
-He has it!

-[Tiki] Banged his head.
-[Punk] Oh, my gosh.

Oh, my gosh.

Why do you have to scare us like that?

[Punk] Upper-body strength
has been a problem for him in the past,

and he looks like he's taxing himself.

-[Tiki] He's swinging around too much.
-[Punk] Oh, jeez.

[Tiki] He's lost.

[Punk] As you can see,
you get discombobulated.

[Tiki] Absolutely, but he did pretty well.
Seems to have steadied himself out now.

[crowd chants] Norman! Norman! Norman!

[Tiki] He's got to get momentum
to swing over to the last...

-[Punk] Oh, my gosh.
-[Tiki] ...of these columns.

[Punk] How is he still hanging on?

[Tiki] I don't know. He's been hanging
for a long time. He makes it.

-Yes! Very good!
-Very good!

And now only Mag Wall.

[Tiki] Now he has to transition
to this one last beam.

Oh, but he hesitates.

Now, onto the Rack. Come on.

[Punk] Spinning like a top right now.

[Tiki] This has got
to take a lot of strength, Punk.

-He's been hanging for a long time.
-[Punk] Oh, gosh.

-He's fading.
-Is that a sign?

No! No!

Okay, okay, okay.

[Tiki] He just had
no arm strength left, Punk.

You could see his grip was faltering.

Fourty-five points.

Let's watch him hit his head here.
He swings through. Oh!

Just dink, and it threw off his rhythm,
as you can see.

He tried to make the transition,
just couldn't get it done.

He's in third place right now.

[Punk] If he uses his extra life,
he will lose 30 points.

[Tiki] But it puts him back
on the obstacle

that he failed in Level 1 the first time.

-[Punk] He had trouble with it this time.
-You're right.

I think, to be honest with you, Kate,
he has to.

Yes or no?

I beg your pardon?

I reckon he has to. I don't think
there's any choice here. Go for it.

Yes, thank you.

I want to use my extra life.

[Tiki] And he's going again.

So, Norman will reset back to Face Plant,

which is where Australian
Luke Shelton fell,

but because Norman's time
was slightly faster,

he remains in third place.

Norman can do it two times.

Norman can do it eight times if necessary,
ladies and gentlemen.

But tonight he only has to go twice.
The second time will work out.

[Punk] Extra life!

-Very good.
-Okay, he has the thing.

-[Punk] Oh, no!
-[Tiki] Oh, my goodness!

-Wow!
-Oh!

[Punk] Talk about not capitalizing
on your second chance.

[Tiki] That's one of the problems
with taking your extra life.

These athletes are tired
from their first run,

which can lead to mistakes on the course.

[Punk] Wow.

[Tiki] It looks like that chain
clocked him where the sun doesn't shine.

[Punk] Well...

[Tiki groans] Ooh!

-[Punk] Oh, my God.
-[Tiki] Oh, serious.

Then it hit him in the face.
His hand is all chewed up.

This is after he just got off Break Neck,
which hit him in the head.

Man, this Beast
is beating the crap out of him.

[Punk] The Beast was out for blood,
and Norman quenched its thirst.

The jump was unlucky and not very good.

I'm bleeding a little bit,

and the thing hit me in the private parts.

But I did my best.

I had a lot of fun.
It was awesome and I am super happy.

[Tiki] With only 15 points
and two athletes left to go,

Norman is barely hanging on,

but up in first place,

Hector Martinez
is guaranteed a spot in the final.

-Bravo!
-That's perfect! Wow!

[Punk] The third and final
Australian competitor of the night

is Mark Greenham.

[Mark] We are in the semis.

Yes, there's a bit more pressure,
but I have peace of mind,

because I've already run the course once
and sort of know what to expect.

I'm doing this for my family
and all the kids

going through tough times with cancer.
Much love.

[Punk] And as fit as Mark is,

he says he gets his strength
from something much deeper.

[Mark] I was only a kid
when I was diagnosed with cancer,

and it was such a horrible time,

but I wish that the seven-year-old
I was back then

could see the person I am today:

always being positive,
believing in yourself,

being enthusiastic, being happy.

And the most important thing is love.

I believe that the key to living
a healthy life is having a healthy mind.

I train my subconscious mind
through meditation,

and if you can harness
the power of your subconscious mind,

I feel like you can literally do anything.

It all comes back
to putting mind over matter.

And I want to show the world that you can
not only overcome cancer and survive,

but you can overcome it and transform
your life into something worth living.

[Punk] Well, Mark Greenham
has been taking his own advice.

He hasn't merely survived
against the Beast,

he's thrived against it.

[Tiki] That's right.

Mark not only crushed the course
in the qualifying round...

but he was a constant cheerleader
on the sidelines.

You did your best.
That's all that matters, bro.

[Punk] His positive outlook on life
helped him conquer cancer,

and I think it's gonna help him
conquer The Beast tonight.

[man chants] Aussie, Aussie, Aussie!

[all chant] Oi, oi, oi!

-[man chants] Aussie, Aussie, Aussie!
-Oi, oi, oi!

[man chants] Aussie! Oi! Aussie!

[Tiki] I think he's gonna
have to finish Level 1

to really have a shot
at making it to the finals.

[Punk] I agree, Tiki,
but that's always easier said than done.

[Tiki] Makes the leap onto Gear Head.

-Big jump, clears it.
-[Punk] Nicely done.

[Tiki] Up to Face Plant.

He is now at the first checkpoint.

[Punk] Mark's got 15 points,

but he's behind
Norman Lichtenberg on time.

If he completes Face Plant, then Norman
and Germany will be eliminated.

[Dannii] Yes!

[Tiki] Oh! Almost dropped it
with his left hand,

but he manages to hang on.

Drops low to make this transition.

-He did it! He did it!
-He did it!

[Tiki] And with that, Norman Lichtenberg
of Germany has been eliminated.

Oh, no!

[Tiki] Glances up at that Point Thruster.

He doesn't even attempt it.
He passes on it.

I think he looks very confident indeed,
taking it all in his stride,

doesn't seem perturbed,
doesn't seem out of puff.

[Punk] Focus. What this takes is focus.

You have to believe you're strong enough
to hang there, but you have to focus.

[Tiki] See, those cylinders
can sometimes drop.

[Punk] Take your eyes off the prize,
and that's exactly what happens.

[crowd chants] Let's go, Mark! Let's go!

-[Tiki] He's getting his momentum.
-[Punk] Nicely done.

[Tiki] He's got the right technique here,
Punk, to move through.

That one dropped on him.
It caught him a bit off guard.

You see him hanging here
with some confidence.

-[Punk] Whoa!
-[Tiki] He is way too low.

There, he nails it.

Now, he's got to make a strong jump
over to Mag Wall.

Does he have the momentum to do it?

-And he...
-Sticks it, yes! Yes!

The hardest thing
is getting on that Mag Wall.

Going for the Point Thruster.

-He is going so fast.
-[Tiki] He's got 70 points.

He crosses this line. He's got 75.

[Punk] He's now tied with his teammate
Jesse Turner for second place.

-[Tiki] Almost lost it there.
-[Punk] Almost near disaster.

[Tiki] He got the Mega Thruster.

[Punk] This is amazing,
and with only one runner left to go,

he's automatically through to the finals.

Can he finish Level 1?

-Yes, he does it.
-Yeah!

He's done it! Marky boy!

[Kyung and Kyeong cheer]

Mark does it!

The Australian conquers
the first level of the course!

Marky, Marky, Marky!

Oi, oi, oi!

[Tiki] It looked like
he jammed his arm, Punk.

[Punk] It was an ugly landing.

[Nick] The replay here...
Watch as he lands. His left arm... Bang!

-[Dannii] Ooh.
-[Nick groans] Ooh.

[Tiki] Let's watch it from this angle.

His left hand as it smashes down.
Oh, yeah. You can see it.

[Punk] Yep, yep.
Elbow doesn't bend that way.

[Tiki] Fortunately for Mark,
he's already qualified,

but now I wonder
if he'll decide to just walk away.

Here, we see Mark Greenham
getting some medical attention,

taping up his arm, Punk.

Is he gonna keep going?

[Punk] He's not gonna stop.

Of course. Hodgkin's lymphoma survivor.

There's nothing that's gonna prevent him
from taking his shot at the Beast.

One hundred and fifteen points
for Mark Greenham

as he heads over to Level 2.

[Punk] What a warrior.

He's only the second competitor
tonight to make it to Level 2.

-Let's see how he does.
-[Tiki] Here he goes into Drop Zone.

-[Punk] Nice.
-[Tiki] Flies up it.

I'm not sure when
he'll first have to use his arm

and generate some strength
through that elbow.

[Punk] He'll have to use it in a second
as he drops down to Pivot Point,

He might need it just to steady himself.

[Tiki] And he nails it.

He doesn't care about the pain.

He's looking for glory here.

Here he goes. He's running up injured.

He gets to the top of Digestive Track.

He's got to make a jump.

Yeah, he made it.

Whoa! Look at him go for it.
There's no slowing him down.

I think the faster he does it,
there's no time to think.

Take some time, mate. Can you run up?

Another hard landing to come.

Relax!

Don't rush.

[Nick] He's timing, getting his timing.

-No!
-No!

-No!
-No!

[Tiki] One hundred and forty points
for Mark Greenham.

[Punk] He's now in first place,
and with one runner to go,

he's already guaranteed
a spot in the finals.

There's no need to use his extra life.

[Mark] Popped my elbow out.
It's a hyperextension. It's just a joint.

I reckon strapping should be all right,
but it is quite sore.

It's holding me back a bit, but, yeah.

If I was half dead,
I'd still be tackling this Beast.

That's the way I see it.

[Tiki] Mark Greenham
takes the top spot on the leaderboard,

and with one runner to go,
Mark has secured a spot in the final,

but unfortunately,
he has put his countryman Jesse Turner

on the verge of elimination.

[Punk] Our final competitor of the night
is Great Britain's Corbin Mackin.

Very nervous, but I'm very happy
to get through to the semis,

but now I'm mixing with the big boys.

Whoever wants it the most
will become victor.

[Punk] Even though Corbin finished first
in his qualifying round,

he has always viewed himself
as the underdog.

I think throughout my life,
people have always underestimated me

because I'm not a professional,
I don't get paid.

I've never really excelled
in any type of sport.

But, being quite competitive,
I thought I'd go to the British Army.

My training was vigorous. It was hard.

But I did quite well with the fitness side
and on the obstacle course races.

And it changed me into a man, I would say.

So, I'm hoping
that the athleticism that I have

and my military training is gonna be
good enough to take on the Beast.

[Tiki] He is a British war hero, Punk,

and his buddy, Jim Driscoll,

in the crowd again tonight
to cheer him on.

We served together in the British Army.

So, we met around 2008.
Deployed to Afghanistan in 2009.

I had a hand in training him
to become the man he is today.

Corbin's doing very well
to have gotten as far as he has and...

he has a good enough chance
to win this competition as anybody else.

[Tiki] Totally agree with Jim there.

Corbin's army training
really benefited him

in the qualifying round.

I mean, you can tell
that he's an all-around skilled athlete.

That's gonna give him an edge
in tonight's semifinal.

Making his way up Lock Jaw.

-[Punk] Wow, he is moving quickly.
-[Tiki] He needs to, Punk.

You saw earlier with Norman
and Luke's tiebreaker,

seconds can count.

Whoa! What a leap.

In the first semifinal, our two British
competitors did not qualify for the final.

Corbin Mackin,
all British hopes rest on you.

[Punk] Corbin needs more than 75 points

to make it into the finals,

so he needs to try
to complete Level 1 tonight,

which only two competitors
have done thus far.

-[Tiki] Here he goes.
-[Punk] He's got it.

[Tiki] He hangs on to the chain.

-Look at this, a superb athlete.
-[Tiki] Lands the chain here.

-[Stuart] Oh, no! No, no.
-[Tiki] What is he doing?

-[Stuart] Recovery.
-[Punk] We spoke too soon.

[Tiki] Great recovery there
by Corbin Mackin.

Let's see if he goes
for this Point Thruster.

-Oh! And he nails the Point Thruster.
-[Punk] Wow!

He's got 40 points.

He needs to beat Jesse Turner's 75 points
to move on to the final.

[Tiki] The Point Thruster
could be the difference,

but it won't matter
if he can't get past Break Neck.

He looks incredibly smooth out there.

This is absolutely incredible,

really setting the bar
very, very high, indeed.

-This is superb.
-[Kate] Come on.

[Tiki] This takes a lot of coordination
and upper-body strength.

[Punk] And he's got the last cylinder.

Oh, but he's not out of the woods yet.

[Tiki] He has to make
the transition to Mag Wall.

-[Punk] There he goes. Nice job.
-[Stuart] Look at this.

We've got the entire crew in here
cheering you on, Corbin. Come on!

[Tiki] He is a long athlete.

-Can he make the transition onto Mag Wall?
-[Punk] Got it!

-[shouts] Yes!
-Oh, nails it. Nailed it.

[Tiki] Seventy points now.
He's five behind Jesse Turner.

And that does it.

Corbin Mackin will advance,
but he's not gonna settle for third place.

Come on, Corbin! Come on, lad.

[Tiki] Making his way across the Mag Wall.

The Mega Thruster's right above him.

[Stuart shouts] Corbin!

-[Punk] What a great run by Corbin Mackin.
-Wow.

[Tiki] He's swimming
through the Blood of the Beast,

but I don't think he minds, Punk,
because he's done enough.

Eighty-five points for Corbin Mackin,
which knocks out Jesse Turner of Australia

and puts him into third place

as the last athlete
to move on to the finale.

[Punk] Yeah, and I can't wait.

This is gonna be an epic showdown.

[Tiki] Mark Greenham of Australia,

Hector Martinez of Mexico

and Corbin Mackin of Great Britain

have all reached the final.

They're joined
by Australian Jayden Irving,

Germany's Max Springer

and James Drake
of the United States of America.

So, there you go,
the Brits are in the final,

and it is this man,
the genuine British hero, Corbin Mackin.

Congratulations, Corbin.
Britain is so, so proud of you.

Very tough competition.

I'm surprised to get to the final
with that competition, but, yeah.

Onto the final.

Go, Team GB!

[whoops]

Australia's the only country
with two people in the finals.

Well, mate,
that's how we do it in Australia.

We kill it.
So I'm just pretty damn happy about that.

The fact I made it through to the final
on my birthday is incredible.

I can't even describe how it feels,

but seeing who
I'm going to compete against,

it's incredible,
and it will be a good final.

[Tiki] Five nations will duke it out

in the championship round
of Ultimate Beastmaster.

And you don't have to wait to see it.
The hype is here, and it's now.

This is the moment
we have all been waiting for,

and for the first time this season,

the all-new Level 4 will be revealed.

[Tiki]
Who will be the greatest of them all

and triumphantly claim the crown
of Ultimate Beastmaster?

It's championship round right now.
