Third Watch (1999–2005): Season 5, Episode 20 - In Plain View - full transcript

Sasha returns to work. Bosco prepares for his brother's court appearance. Sully's breakfast routine is broken when the owner of a restaurant he frequents is killed in a hold-up. Rebecca collapses, and it is found that she has been badly abused. The LSAT results arrive.

Today, we're out of English muffins. Sorry.

What the hell's the
official bird of Louisiana?

Oh, yeah, that's, uh, pelican.

Right there, that one, Eisenhower.

What? You finished already?

Today was easy, huh?

How did you know pelican?

Hey, once you heard that state bird

of Louisiana's pelican, you never forgot.

- Yeah? Where do you hear it? - Forgot.

- Hey, you. - Hey, what are you doing here?

First day back. I thought
you might want a ride.

That's very sweet. You
don't have to do that.

What else am I gonna do with
this other cup of coffee? Here.

Thanks.

Oh, no, Rock, that's okay. I gotta go.

What you talking here?
You got ten minutes here.

I gotta change uniform shirts
today, so that means 15 minutes

of moving crap from one to the other.

Alright, I got you a to go anyway.

Light and sweet?

You know, you ask me that everyday.

Yeah, well, habit.

Hey, how often you change your shirt?

Uh, less and less every year. Oh!

- Whoa, whoa! Slow down...
- Sorry. Did I get any on you?

- No, I'm alright. - Good.

Rock, I'll see you tomorrow.

Later, my friend.

Yeah, anywhere you like.

'Give me the money. In my hand!'

- 'That's it! Don't shoot.'
- 'All of it. All of it.'

- Don't.. There's no more.
- Put it there...

There's no more. There's nothing, no more.

Don't shoot. Don't shoot. Don't..

Don't forget to give your RMPs a good toss.

McGowan from the late
tour found a box cutter

shoved under the back seat.

And if your monthly report
isn't submitted by the end

of tour, it's considered late.

Isn't that right, Officer Monroe?

- Sorry, Lieutenant.
- You're on restricted duty.

So you've got the desk.
What? You two carpooled?

- You know.. - Attaboy!

Alright, they're holding
jobs out there. Let's go.

Eyes and ears.

I need to meet with my brother's attorney.

He's gonna prep me
on this hearing tomorrow.

No problem. Welcome back, Sasha.

Oh, thanks for the cards, guys.

You two can partner
up off duty all you want.

- But at work, he's mine.
- Stop it. Stop it.

Be careful behind that desk, alright?

Where did you and Michael grow up?

Brooklyn.

- Two parents in the house?
- Unfortunately.

My father used to work
out on my mom's face.

An abusive household. That's very good.

'I'm glad you're happy about that.'

Excuse me.

Finish your water, honey.

And when did Michael,
uh, start using drugs?

'My mom busted him smokin'
weed when he was ten.'

'He was, uh, selling
dime bags in junior high'

but I don't think he got into the big stuff

until the 11th grade.

Okay, now, when I have you on the stand

I'm gonna ask you about that day.

About Michael, about what
he said, about the arrest.

All you have to do is tell what happened.

No problem.

It's not all there, but as soon
as I get my pension loan..

Wait a minute, I thought your
dad was taking care of this.

'Keep him out of this, alright?
I'll get you the rest tomorrow.'

Why don't you just give it
to me when you got it all?

You're not going anywhere.

You know, usually when a
lawyer smiles in your face

he's picking your pocket.

Some of us do have hearts, you know.

Alright, pack it up, babe.

So, are you gonna be an attorney
like your dad when you grow up?

One attorney in the house is one too many.

Don't you agree, officer?

'Either of you have kids?'

Yeah, I have, uh, a 12-year-old boy

and I have a 16-year-old girl.

You read with them?

Well, we're a little past that now.

No, see, those are the moments

that they never forget.

'My father used to bond
with us over a racing form.'

Oh, mine used the Bible as a weapon.

- 'Well, that is all I need.'
- Can we give you a lift home?

No, we don't wanna be an inconvenience.

No, not at all.

Hey, Rebecca, have you ever
driven in a police car before?

I think this is gonna
be her very first time.

Alright, let's go pay the
check, Beck. Hurry up.

- She's some cute kid, huh?
- She don't say too much.

You know, I figured
this guy for a real ass.

Why? Because he's a defense attorney?

No, because he knows my father.

Did you get your results
back from the LSATs yet?

Not yet. No.

They were supposed to be mailed a week ago.

Well, it should be any day now.

"Saint Louis landmark." I got
that one. That's an easy one.

Davis, what the hell are you doing?

- That's my crossword puzzle.
- You have issues, man.

You been checking out any law schools yet?

- No, seems premature. - Ha ha ha.

'5-5 squad to Central,
have an additional unit'

'respond to 159 Withers
Street for crowd control.'

5-5 Charlie responding. Why
does that address sound so familiar?

- One of your ex-girlfriends?
- No, that's Rocky's place.

Does my brother need to
wear a suit to the hearing?

No, he's not gonna be there,
all the judge needs to see

is you in your dress blues.

You just tell him what
happened on that day.

He's not gonna look like
he's disrespecting the court?

No, he can waive his appearance.

Oh, do you have any commendations?

- Medals, ribbons? - Some.

Alright, then you just make sure
that you wear them on that day.

Are you sure we're not an inconvenience?

- Not at all. - Say thank you, Rebecca.

- Thank you. - 'You're so welcome.'

To think they grow up to hate you.

Circle of life.

Those numbnuts from Crime Scene

love to bust my stones.

- They get any lifts? - A bunch.

'But they're useless to
us unless I do eliminations'

on every mook that
walked through those doors.

My prints will be in there too.

- You were here? - Everyday for breakfast.

'Hey, Sul. You know this guy?'

Yeah, that's Rocky.

Nice guy.

- 'Regular working stiff.'
- He's a stiff now.

Hey, can the comedy
routine, will you, Grimaldi?

- Hey, no offense. - How many dead?

Waitress in the kitchen

customer at the table, and Rocky over here.

They didn't do much afternoon
business, there was breakfast

rush, and then mostly dead till dinner.

- You got any witnesses? - No one alive.

Did you get the surveillance tape?

I haven't finished tossing the place.

They should have hid
it in the coffee machine.

- Thanks, Sul. - Let's go, Davis.

Hey, Sul. Does he have any
family, someone I can notify?

- I don't know.
- 'I'll look into it. Thanks.'

'Get out! I'm warning you, Charlie!'

Dad!

'He's been in there for an hour!'

- Charlie, wrap it up!
- We need a bigger place!

Alright, you need to calm down.

I'm so sick of having to share a room

and a bathroom, I mean,
how many girls my age

have to change in front of their brother?

Alright, well, then come
and change in our room.

You think that fixes it? Ah!

Emily, Emily, we're
gonna get a bigger place.

- You're not..
- Why do you say that to her?

She can't keep sharing a room with Charlie.

Right, but why are you telling her that

we're gonna get a bigger place?

- We can't move? - We can't afford this.

I'm talking to you.

You're talking at me.

'Remember the technique? All wrist.'

'Under, under, under.'

Nice. Got it.

And onto the plate. Perfect. You got that?

You're the waiter. You're the waiter.

Hold it straight.

Thank you, and here comes
more delicious yummy syrup

and now it's time for you
to go put your shoes on

and get ready for school. Kiss. Kiss.

Bye.

I can't eat another thing. If I
do, my stomach is gonna bust.

You're a lightweight.

Needs more cinnamon.

'Um-mm. It's good. It's perfect.'

So why-why are you doing all this?

- What? Eating off your plate? - No.

No. The ride to work the
coffee, the French toast.

Well, you're my friend. You
went through a rough time.

- Really? - Hmm.

I just felt like there was, I don't know

something more to it than that.

- Is that right? - Mm-hm.

Mm-hm? If there is, and
I'm not saying there is.

- 'I'm just saying if, okay?' - Okay.

- Yeah. - Okay.

Would that, would that be wrong?

Wrong? Um, no.

Not at all, I-I'm just not

quite ready for anything serious right now.

Well, French toast
isn't really that serious.

If I was making, like, eggs
Benedict or something like..

- Okay, we need to talk. - Okay.

I'm-I'm just saying I can't handle anything

more than a couple pieces of bread.

Okay.

So you just keep your butt over there.

Oh, ho ho!

So, yesterday you were
advised to check the back seat

of your car for contraband
before the end of your tour.

'I trust everyone did that.'

Then this is now an approved
police item, Boscorelli?

Oh!

A kid left that in my car.

Pink's a good color on you, Bos.

- Bite me. - Again, toss your cars.

It's for your own safety,
and the safety of the cops

that relieve you. Let's get out there.

Eyes and ears.

We should return that to Rebecca.

I'll give it to Lester at court.

Yeah, but she's gonna need that, you know.

Her papers and her books are in there.

- Kids do homework, Bosco. - Fine.

Lieu, I need some time
for my brother's bail hearing.

What? Cop killers get bail now?

Did I ask your opinion?

He was there. He should stay in jail.

It's a little bit more
complicated than that, Sully.

Sullivan, he's got some set on him.

Look, you'd be saying the same
thing if it wasn't your brother.

It is my brother.

Look, Bosco, I'm not gonna get in some

stupid back and forth with you right now.

Hi, sir. We're gonna go to One C.

Who pissed in your oatmeal?

- Mrs. Martin? - Yes.

Hi, I'm Officer Yokas.
This is Officer Boscorelli.

We're working on a case with your husband.

Oh!

I, could you give me just a second?

Sure.

Why-why don't you come in, please?

Thank you.

'Hello? I, no, that would be fine.'

'Thank you. No problem.'

- These are nice floors, huh?
- Look at all the books.

- It must be a bitch to clean. - The books?

The floors.

All Fred would need is
a broom and a schmatte.

Actually, I wish it were that easy.

All of our visitors remove
their shoes before they enter.

Oh!

Um, Rebecca left this in our car yesterday.

Oh, 'cause we drove Rebecca
and Lester home from the restaurant.

I-I hope there was nothing in there

that she needed for school.

Oh, she's home-schooled.

No snow days. No substitute teachers.

Yeah, no bullies, no school shootings.

Well, most parents invest decades

in their own professions,
yet they don't invest

a fraction of that time
in their children's futures.

I prefer to invest the time in Rebecca's.

Does she ever miss, like
socializing with the other kids?

Oh, Rebecca has lots of friends.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I
have to get back to dinner.

Thank you so much.

Can you give this... to your husband?

Oh, no, no, no. Lester's rules.

We don't mix home and business.

You can't get rid of that
check to save your life.

I tell you what, why don't
you put it in Lester's hand

the next time you see him?

- Thanks again. - Sure.

- 'Bye-bye.' - Bye-bye now.

'Looks like you and the
perp had a brief encounter.'

- 'Right there.' - 'That's the guy.'

Can you make him?

I don't know. I just bumped into him.

I'm gonna need to do a five on this.

- 'Is he a regular?'
- 'Never seen him before.'

'What do you remember
about him? Anything distinctive?'

He was walking in. I was walking out.

- 'You talked to him?' - 'Yeah.'

'I think I asked him if I
spilled coffee on him.'

'You wanna look at some mug books?'

Yeah.

It's, uh, where we used
to go when we were little.

Sort of like a, kinda like a hideout.

And, what did he state to you, officer?

He said he didn't shoot Officer Dade

but he could give us who did.

There was this guy. His name is Spider.

He's crazy, Mo.

Did he say how he knew the perpetrator?

He said he was in the car but that this

Spider guy was driving.

'So he admitted to being in the car'

'when the officer was killed?'

- 'Officer?' - Yes, he did.

- But he didn't shoot anyone.
- Thank you, officer.

Nothing further, Your Honor.

Counselor, proceed.

Good afternoon, Officer Boscorelli.

Good afternoon.

- What were you hiding from? - Excuse me?

Well, you said that you
found your brother, Michael

in a place, uh, that
used to be your hideout.

My father used to beat my mother

so we would run... to the fort.

So it was an abusive
household that you grew up in?

- Very. - I'm sorry to hear that.

Well, what else did your brother tell you?

'He told me that, uh, this
guy Spider, his friend..'

was driving, and, uh, when
Officer Dade pulled him over..

I was in the car, alright?
But Spider was driving.

He pulls out a machine gun
and just starts shooting the guy.

There's nothing I can do!

- He told you where Spider was? - Yes.

He's probably back at his
place waiting for you guys.

Can you show us where he is?

One of the officers from
your precinct made the arrest?

There was no arrest. We got the suspects.

Good work. Michael's a hero.

Do you know what your
brother is charged with?

- Excuse me? - Ah!

You know he's being held on a $500,000 bail

um, suspected of being
involved in the murder

of a New York City police officer.

Uh, yes, but he said he had no..

Wait until I ask you a question first.

So aside from your
testimony, there really is

no physical evidence putting
your brother inside the car

'the night that Officer
Dade was gunned down.'

- Physical evidence?
- Well, uh, fingerprints.

Uh, that won't help
because it was Michael's car.

That's not in dispute here.

Did you bother doing a paraffin test on him

'to see if he had fired a weapon?'

No.

'Did you find the murder weapon?'

Spider had it on him when..

When he died.

Were Michael's fingerprints
on the murder weapon?

No.

So all we have, really,
is Michael's statement

putting him in the car
the night of the murder.

- Yes, he said that he was in...
- Oh, yeah.

How long have you been a police officer?

'Twelve years.'

And I see from your uniform

that you have been cited, decorated.

Correct.

So, here you are, face to face

with a man suspected of being involved

with the murder of a, a
New York police officer.

And you're very interested,
right? Well, that's natural.

- So did you ask him about that?
- 'Excuse me?'

Did you ask your brother about that night?

Did you ask him, uh, about the murder?

- Yes, of course, I did. - Um-hm.

Did you by any chance
advise him of his Miranda rights

prior to asking him that question?

I didn't shoot that cop.

You're still gonna have to get arrested.

I'll get you a lawyer,
and I'll be there with you.

- I'm sorry. - Oh, come on!

You are a decorated officer.

You know the definition of
custodial interrogation, right?

- What do you mean? - Hey.

Your brother could not have left that fort

even if he wanted to, could he?

Something like that.

Something like in custody then, right?

Did you read him his rights?

- No. - What?

- No. - No!

Your Honor, the state has
failed to present any evidence

outside of this officer's testimony

to support the charges against my client.

Officer Boscorelli conducted
an improper interrogation.

I'm asking the court to
allow my client to be ROR'd..

Until the state manages
to clean up her case.

- Ho, ho, ho! - He's a clown.

Where are you rushing to, officer?

- I don't wanna hear it.
- Officer Boscorelli, come on.

You were great. You made a fool out of me.

- Wh-what did I miss? - It was fantastic.

- You call that fantastic? - Indeed, I do.

As a matter of fact,
your brother is gonna be

processed and out in the street by morning.

But I gotta work with this ADA again

and she's gonna question
every arrest I ever make.

You worry too much, you
know, you really have to just

love the beauty of our legal system.

Now, if you'll excuse me,
I'm needed back in 179.

- Why are you so upset? - I swear to God.

If Mikey messes up one more time

I'm gonna kill him with my bare hands.

That's it.

- 'Help me! Lester!' - 'What's going on?'

- Excuse me, ma'am.
- Help me! Somebody, please!

- 'Help me! Lester!' - What happened?

'She just passed out. Thank, God.'

- How long's she been like this?
- I don't know. Please help me.

What happened? Come
here, sweetie. Lay her down.

- Put her down here. - 'Please help her!'

Paramedics are on their
way. 5-5 David to Central.

- What's the ETA on our bus?
- 'Two minutes out.'

- We can't wait that long.
- We have a child not breathing.

Put a rush on that bus, please.

- Did she choke on something?
- Yes, her vegetables.

I should call Lester.

Her-her airway is clear now.

Bosco, she's still not
breathing. How's your CPR?

Let's go.

Come on, sweetie.

Where's that bus?

Seven year old apparent choking victim.

Found unresponsive and
not breathing on scene.

Revived by PD, CPR. BP 100/60.

Resps are labored at
28, intubated upon arrival.

Okay, Trauma One.

Is she gonna be alright?

They're gonna do the best that they can.

'I should call Lester.'

I thought you called him already.

Oh, well, he's not answering.

Can you leave him a message?

No, I can't leave him a message!

He doesn't like messages.

Can I please just use the phone?

Yeah, over there at the desk.

He's not in here.

'Here's a fresh stack.'

This guy's 50. We're
looking for a 20 year old.

You're packing it in?

I've looked at everybody

who even remotely matches our guy.

- Nobody comes close? - Not a one.

Nothing ventured. Thanks for trying.

Maybe they'll have better
luck with the fingerprints.

- I recognized the guy. - What?

Sammy Bachner.

Why didn't you say something to Jelly?

Hey, this is my collar.

- She, uh, fell. - 'After she choked?'

Yes, uh, you know, I need
to use the phone again.

Okay, as soon as I finish this report.

Yeah, I never did get
Lester. He'll understand.

I called his service. He's on the way here.

- Did you tell him?
- We will when he gets here.

- What was she chokin' on? - Pretzels.

- I thought it was vegetables.
- Vegetables.

Pretzels. What difference does it make?

I mean, she was in and
out of the kitchen all day.

- Were you with her in the room?
- I heard a loud noise.

I need to see you two for a second.

Can I get you something, Mrs. Martin?

Yes, I'd really like to use the phone.

- Relax, he's on the way.
- Okay, we'll be right back.

- What's up? - 'Hickman's looking for you.'

- Is Rebecca okay?
- You better ask Dr. Hickman.

Proctor, call Neurology
and get Dr. Klein down here.

Someone beat that little girl into a coma.

Excuse me?

Aside from severe head trauma

she has numerous contusions
and abrasions over most of her body.

We see that kind of head
trauma frequently in boxers.

She has two contusions on her brain.

One where she was struck,
and one on the opposite side

where it slammed against
the inside of her skull.

It was a blow severe
enough to shut the brain down

and cause unconsciousness.

- Is she gonna make it? - Probably not.

- 'Hey.' - Hey, what's up?

- Can you run this name for me? - What for?

For me.

Whenever I run a name,
I need to document it.

So document it. I
don't care. It's for Sully.

You sure you guys aren't
stepping on Jelly's toes?

I don't step on toes, Monroe.

I'm a lover, not a fighter.

She's clumsy. She's always
falling down, hurting herself.

Yeah, the doctor
doesn't think that she fell.

- What? - Someone's been hitting her.

'You wanna tell me what happened?'

- Where is Lester?
- Yeah, Lester's not here.

Officer Boscorelli, my secretary
said it was an emergency?

Listen, I need to talk to you for a second.

- What is going on? - In here.

Listen, Lester, I'm sorry.

- It's your daughter. - Rebecca?

We have reason to
believe your wife beat her.

No.

She's got bruises all over her body.

We had to do CPR just to get her here.

Alright, take me to her.

She's in surgery..

With bleeding in the brain.

Not my daughter, my wife.

I'm her legal counsel.

- What? - I wanna talk to my wife.

I'm her attorney.

Lieutenant, this is Lester Martin.

I demand to see my wife. I'm her attorney.

And I suggest that you
cease all questioning

because any statements
obtained by your officers

will be inadmissible.

Alright, let me speak to the officer first

and then, I'll take you to her.

Just hurry up.

- Figures he'd live in an SRO.
- I'm gonna call for backup.

We don't need backup
with a coward like this.

Hold it. Let's just slow down.

Wh-what's the plan? What are we doing?

Rocky never fought this
guy. You saw the tape.

- He shot him for nothing.
- Yeah, he shot him. Exactly.

- He's got a gun, Sul. - So do I.

Did you talk to any of the neighbors?

No, there wasn't time but she admits

she was the only one at home with the girl.

- And the father?
- Saw him at court earlier.

He had another case after my brother's.

And Dr. Hickman doesn't
know exactly when the injuries

were incurred but she's
estimating sometime within

the last 12 hours or so.

So the father's still possible?

Not the way he treated her.

He was, like, father of the year.

- 'So it's the mother then?' - Yeah.

- Who's taking the collar? - I am.

- Wait, wait, wait.. - What?

Do you think something smells here?

No, I.. This guy represents my brother.

I mean, maybe we should get
another team to make the collar.

Bosco..

I'm arresting her.

Is Lester here?

Get up.

What?

Stand up and put your
hands behind your back.

Unless you wanna resist,
which is fine with me.

- What happened? - What do you say?

You wanna go around with somebody

that can actually hit back?

- I don't understand.
- You don't understand?

'Then I'll explain this to you.'

- Oww! - 'You're under arrest.'

- Ouch. Lester!
- For assaults on your daughter.

That hurts. Lester! Lester! Lester!

I need Le-Les-Les..

Get the doctor.

I wanna be the first face
she sees when she wakes up.

I need you to meet Detective Grimaldi over

at their apartment, if this kid dies

we got a homicide on our hands.

Alright, but I wanna
take her in personally.

When you get back.

Go, Faith.

- What about me? - Where's the husband?

- He's in the lounge.
- Alright, stick with him.

For all I know, he wants
to take revenge himself.

- He says he's her attorney.
- She isn't talking, is she?

- Is your partner alright?
- She gets crazy when it's kids.

We all do.

He's inside.

Get the hell out of here.

- Don't move. - Don't move.

Do not move.

'Come back in the window. Slow. Very slow.'

'Slow.'

Listen up.

Hey! Hey! Stop! That's it! Enough! Hey!

That's enough! That's enough! That's it.

That's it! That's enough.

That's enough.

Put your hands behind
your back, man. Let's go.

Hey!

You guys scared her.

Maybe it was her conscience.

- I demand to see her. - Can't do it.

Why don't you sit down, Lester?

- You did CPR on Rebecca? - Yeah.

Me and Yokas.

She wasn't breathing when we got there.

You bruised her.

What?

She had bruises all over
her chest, you said that.

Did you pump her chest?

You had better back off that right now.

Can you prove you didn't?

You really don't wanna piss me off.

I helped your brother in court.

The only thing you should
be worried about right now

is your child.

Look, it's-it's gonna be alright.

It's not gonna be alright
until my family is home.

We picked the wrong profession.
These dirtbags sure live good.

Flip a switch.

- It's no good.
- Probably behind on Con Ed.

'Did you see that? Line of duty.'

Oh, my God!

Dirtbags. An understatement.

I gotta open a window..

Or I'm gonna lose my breakfast burrito.

'This looks like the kitchen..'

slash living room..

Slash bedroom..

Slash toilet.

'You hungry? Want a sandwich?'

That poor baby.

Lester!'

Lester! Lester!

Lester! Somebody, get Lester for me.

Lester! Lester! Lester!

I wanna see my husband. Get Lester for me.

Please, somebody, get Lester for me.

- Jan, Jan, Jan. - Oh.

It's gonna be okay.

Why didn't you ask for our help?

Oh, get away, get away.
Get away, you son of a bitch.

Get away, get away from me.
Get away from me. Get away.

I want Lester. Get Lester for me.

'Lester, please. Lester, save me.'

Lester, save me. Lester,
save me. Lester, save me.

Les.. Get away from me.

- Yeah. - 'Bosco..'

There's something horrible
going on in this house.

'It's a, it's a mess.'

And you know that notebook that, uh..

That Rebecca's always writing in?

She has dozens of them, and, uh..

She just writes the same
thing over and over again.

'She writes, "I will drink...
ten glasses of water a day."'

He's beaten them bad, Faith.

I mean, Jan's... Jan's whole body is like..

He's beating them bad.

Alright, don't do a
thing until I get there.

Alright.

Get away from me. Lester!

Lester! Please, Lester.

- Where's Grimaldi? - On the job.

'Got it.'

This is the doer in the diner homicides.

If he doesn't confess,
tell him I'm coming back.

- What's going on? - 'Slow down.'

- Jan won't file charges. - Yeah.

Well, besides the injuries
to Jan, we can take him

for neglect. You should
see the house, lieu.

- Lock him up. - Let me do it.

You better not.

You're under arrest.

- For what? - Assault.

- On my daughter? - On your wife.

She said that I hurt her?

She doesn't need to for domestic violence.

But you already know
this, don't you, counselor?

I have four cases pending.

I can't possibly do this until Thursday.

You know what? We'll do the paperwork then.

We're gonna do this now.

Put your hands behind your back.

- This is outrageous.
- You ain't seen nothing yet.

Oh, you're doing this
because of what I did in court.

- What? - 'Cause I embarrassed you?

Are you kiddin' me?

Hey, look, I was just doin' my job.

I was being a zealous
advocate for your brother.

And I'm being one for your family.

Yo, where you goin'?

'Hey, what the hell's wrong with you?'

I'm the one who should be
pissed, you know, you could have

killed that guy. I was there too.

It's not just you, you know.

You can relax. You got the guy.

You made it up to your
friend. Let's go. Come on.

You know what the first thought
I had was when we walked

into that diner and saw Rocky lying there

with a hole in his chest?

"Where the hell am I
gonna get my coffee now?"

I mean, I don't know if
the guy had a wife, kid.

I never asked him.

All I could think about
was my damn breakfast.

I mean, I knew this guy, Davis, you know?

I talked to him almost everyday.

We worked our crossword puzzles together.

I mean, that guy was the
closest thing I had to a friend

outside the job.

I didn't feel one ounce of pity for him.

Not a single human emotion.

All I could think about was..

How damned inconvenient it was gonna be

trying to find another restaurant.

Ah!

I've lost something, Davis.

Something important.

Something I'm afraid I'm
not gonna be able to get back.

That's not true, Sully. You..

You're just worked up, you know?

You gotta score well on
those LSATs, get your ass

in law school before
it's too late for you too.

Oh, my gut was right about that guy.

Rebecca seemed so perfect.

What if she was trying
to signal me at lunch

and I just never picked up on it?

Don't do that. You know what? Go home.

- I can't. I gotta go print him.
- I'll take care of that.

Mikey's gonna need a new attorney.

It's what the old one
knows that worries me.

Listen, he's not gonna put anything out

on the street about your brother.

You don't know that.

He's not that stupid.

I'll see ya.

'Sully.'

Sul.

- Hi. - Hey.

"Casablanca."

Come on, Ty. I said that
I wanted to just take this...

What? It's just.. We'll
watch it as friends.

- Just friends? - Yes.

- So, you owe me 3.50. - For what?

For half the movie and the popcorn.

- If I'm paying, it's a date. - Wait.

I thought you said you were a gentleman.

No, I never said that. I said I could cook.

'I'll be out front.'

This is not a smart thing
you're doing, Officer Boscorelli.
