What's your name?
So, I am Victor Solomon.

I am 22 years old. Okay.

Currently, I attend
the number-one public HBCU,

North Carolina Agricultural
and Technical State University.

Wow.
I also serve as Mister A&T
at my university, as well.

You're at a HBCU... Yes, sir.

But you have, like,
this old-man voice.

[ Laughs ]

Which is the perfect name
for you, by the way...

If you choose me
as your coach...

Yeah, as young as I am.

John: Man, man.

Is gospel music your main...

Talk to me.
I grew up in a church,

so gospel is my go-to.

Had an artist on my team
named Todd Tilghman,

and we did
a lot of gospel music.

He did pretty well. He won.

Okay. Fair. Fair point.

I know that, you know, Nick's

John Legend's

how he grew up
in the church singing.

He has no idea.

It makes me think
of Jesus.
Yeah?

Okay, Kelly? That makes sense.

Jesus. Good, good. That's good.

Well, he has played Jesus. Okay?

The person that
wrote this song...
Okay, okay.

John: We won an

because the weight of the song

and the film
it was attached to."

to fight, you know?

I grew up in church, as well.

My dad was a pastor, and I
sang in church every Sunday,

and that's what gave me
my musical roots.

his Academy Award-winning song?

John: Go on. Sounds good.

I grew up in the church.

I grew up singing gospel music,

and when we wrote that song,

it was meant to evoke the hymns

that we grew up
listening to...
Yes.

...and the songs that carried
a lot of our ancestors

through a lot of tough times

when they were marching
for voting rights

and all these other things.
Exactly, mm-hmm.

I have literally zero times

singing my song.

Just... I scrutinize it more
