The spores have spread across the Galaxy. Optimus hopes to find a cure in the Matrix, which is inside Rodimus Prime, but Rodimus has been infected by the spores. Optimus must find a way to get the matrix, without becoming infected.

Our leader is back.
Yes, Sky Lynx, and this time,
no force in the universe can stop me.

It all started, when you are rescued
by Jessica Morgan and Dr. Swofford.
Their experimental spaceship shielded
your body when the star went nova,
but their spaceship was
covered with solar spores.
Swofford brought you
back to his laboratory,
where he and his partner
discovered that spores induced hate.
They sought to infect your
lifeless body with the virus,
and when that failed, they used you
to lure the Autobots to their lab,
and there they infected
Ultra Magnus and the others.
It was Autobot against Autobot,
and then Decepticon against Decepticon!
Even the Quintessons were
not safe from the madness.
I rescued this Quintesson
to try to revive you.
That was Rodimus'
last instruction before--
Rodimus! What happened to him?
I'm afraid that he has
been infected as well.
You're our last hope, Optimus.
