[ALL LAUGH]

Hey! Can someone throw me the ball?

You won't believe it, Charlie Brown,

but that dog of yours
has written his autobiography.

Autobiography?

I never knew Snoopy was
born in the Wild, Wild West.

Just how old is your dog, Charles?

[CHATTERING]

[CHATTERING]

- [HORSE WHINNIES]
- [WHIP CRACKS]

[BIRD SCREECHES IN DISTANCE]

[THUDS]

[CHEERING]

Ow! Ow!
[GROANS]

[CHUCKLES]

Wait a minute. Snoopy wasn't
born in the Wild, Wild West.

He was born at Daisy Hill Farm.

CHARLIE BROWN: Snoopy had
four brothers and one sister.

They were: Spike,

Andy,

Marbles,

Olaf,

Belle and of course... Snoopy.

[BARKS]

I was told they used to play chase,

tug-of-rope

and hide-and-go-seek.

- [YELPS]
- [BARKS]

But mostly, they liked to sing together.

[VOCALIZING IN UNISON]

But they couldn't sing forever.

One by one, the puppies were adopted

until Snoopy was the only one left.

[SIGHS]

- That's when I came in.
- Hmm?

Hey there, little guy.
Do you wanna come live with me?

[WHIMPERS]

Look what I have.

[SNIFFS]

We're going to be best friends.

[COUGHS]

I liked the cowboy story better.

Hmm. I wonder what else is in that book.

Read me a little more, please.

All right. "Chapter 2.

Even as a puppy, I had style

and knew how to make a big entrance."

[ROCK MUSIC PLAYS]

[ENGINE REVS]

- [ENGINE ROARS]
- [SCREAMS]

Good grief.

That's not how it happened at all.

When I first brought Snoopy home,
he was scared.

[WHIMPERING]

Don't be nervous.
You're gonna like it here.

I even got you a toy.

[SQUEAKS]

[EXCLAIMS]

- [WHIMPERING]
- Maybe we'll play with that later.

There you go.

It's your very own dog bed.

Snoopy?

[SNORING]

[SNORING CONTINUES]

Oof!

[CONSTRUCTION NOISES]

I thought you might like this better.
It's your very own doghouse.

Take a look inside.

[SNIFFING]

[SIGHS]

Or fall asleep on the roof.

Gosh, Charlie Brown.
That's a pretty good story.

You should write a book.

Huh.

Maybe I should.

Hey, big brother!

You never told me Snoopy trained
with the French Foreign Legion.

[TRIUMPHANT MUSIC PLAYS]

[ALL GRUNTING]

[ALL GROANING]

I never told you Snoopy trained
with the French Foreign Legion

because he didn't!

I was the one who trained him.

Okay, Snoopy.
We'll start with a simple command.

Ready? Sit!

I suppose that's technically accurate.

Let's try another one. Shake!

[BLENDER WHIRRING]

[SLURPS]

That's delicious.

But you're supposed to follow
my commands like a normal dog.

If you do, I'll give you a doggy treat.

[TIMER DINGS]

The point is, I taught him
how to make pizza.

Well, it's not in the book, big brother.

In fact, there's no mention of you at all.

That's impossible!

- Sign my book, Snoopy!
- Come on, kid! Sign mine!

LUCY: Make mine out to your most brilliant fan!

Snoopy, I'm happy you wrote
a book and everyone likes it,

but how come you didn't even mention me?

You're supposed to be man's best friend.

I mean, my best friend.

"Dedicated to that roundheaded kid
who brings me dinner."

[GASPS]

That's me! I'm the roundheaded kid!

You dedicated it to me!

Thanks, Snoopy!

Whoo-hoo!

[LAUGHS]

Wow! Big brother sure is happy!

Hooray!

I hope that he stays that way forever.

[CHEERING CONTINUES]

Yay!

[CHEERING]

[SQUEALS, LAUGHS]

[GASPS, GRUNTS]

CHARLIE BROWN: "Happiness Is a Dancing Dog."

[WHISTLING MELODY]

[ALL WHISTLING MELODY]

- [JAZZ BEAT STARTS]
- [SNAPPING FINGERS]

[JAZZ PLAYING]

[JAZZ CONTINUES]

[JAZZ CONTINUES]

Why can't I have a normal alarm clock?

[FOOTSTEPS TAPPING]

[JAZZ CONTINUES]

[JAZZ STOPS]

Ugh!

I forgot it's show-and-smile day at school!

Show-and-tell I get.

Show-and-share, no problem.

- [PLAYING JAZZ]
- But show-and-smile?

What did you bring for
show-and-smile, Charlie Brown?

This pineapple.

I didn't know you like pineapples.

I don't. I just can't think of
anything that makes me smile.

It's easy.

You just have to think of
something that makes you happy.

For me, it's my blanket.

Hmm.

I guess baseball makes me happy.

Well, most of the time.

Don't worry about it so
much, Charlie Brown.

I'll bet the answer is
closer than you think.

- [JAZZ PLAYING]
- [SCREAMS] Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa!

Mind if I cut in?

[JAZZ CONTINUES]

I don't understand you, Snoopy.

With all the trouble in the world,
you still dance around.

Where's the fear? Where's the dread?

[TEETH CHATTER]

[WAILS]

[LAUGHING]

You need counseling!

What makes you smile, Sally?

Hmm.

Let me think, big brother.

[GASPS]
My Sweet Babboo, of course!

I'm not your Sweet Babboo.

Love is in the air!

In the air.

What about flying a kite?

That's it! Flying a kite
always makes me smile.

Whee!

[SIGHS]

This is too much pressure.

And I'm not known for
being good under pressure.

[YELPS]

- [THUDS]
- [GROANS]

No dancing dogs allowed in school!

[JAZZ PLAYING]

[SNOOPY SNAPPING FINGERS]

[DRONING ADULT CHATTER]

Of course, Miss Othmar.
I'm happy to go first.

Ludwig van Beethoven's "Piano Sonata #14"
is what makes me smile the most.

I hope it makes you smile too.

[PLAYING "PIANO SONATA NO. 14"]

[SNORES]

[THUDS]

[TEMPO INCREASES]

What makes me smile is my blanket
and the security it gives me.

Did you know that it takes more muscles
in the face to frown than it does to smile?

Then you just gave my face
a full-body workout!

[GROANS]

No need to frown, Charles.

It'll be your turn soon.

[CHUCKLES NERVOUSLY]

[PLAYING WALTZ]

[SINGING]

Mud makes me smile.

What impresses me most is its versatility.

This is my grandpa's hat.

He makes me smile.

He says that the years
have been kind to him,

but the weeks and days
have been a little rude.

Reading makes me smile.

[PLAYING SHANTY]

Sports make me smile.

And juggling makes everyone smi--

[GASPS, GRUNTS]

- Sorry, Chuck.
- [CLOCK TICKING]

School's almost over!
Maybe I won't have to speak after all.

[DRONING ADULT CHATTER]

Yes, Miss Othmar. I'm ready.
[GULPS]

[WIND WHISTLING]

Well...

kicking a football makes me smile.

Kicking a football, Charlie Brown? Really?

Uh, let me think.
What else makes me smile?

Did it just get hotter in here?
I feel like I'm sweating.

[DRONING ADULT CHATTER]

Oh, yes.

Maybe I should get some fresh air.

[PANTS]

[INHALES DEEPLY, SIGHS]

[JAZZ PLAYING]

Hey, Charlie Brown.
You're smiling now.

That's right. I am!

I know what makes me smile.

When my dog dances!

- [SCHOOL BELL RINGS]
- Yay!

[ALL CHEERING]

- [PLAYING JAZZ]
- [CHATTERING, LAUGHING]

BOY: Yay!

Hey! No dancing dogs on school property!

[ALL GIGGLING]

Maybe this one time.

- [JAZZ CONTINUES]
- BOY: Whoo-hoo! [LAUGHS]

Thanks for the inspiration, Snoopy.

[JAZZ PLAYING]
