The Signing (2023–…): Season 1, Episode 4 - Episode #1.4 - full transcript
Rmand.
Your musical talent and ability to write
songs in a different format
is exactly what I was looking for.
But this competition
will bring out
the best and worst of each person.
And your mistakes
could cost you the chance of a lifetime.
This is the only reprieve I'll give you.
You're still in the competition.
Nati...
After the first challenge,
I gave you my feedback.
I needed more.
After the second challenge,
I gave you my feedback. I needed more.
And today, I needed more.
And that is why
you will not be signed.
Your contract has been terminated.
Thank you.
Everybody makes mistakes.
Some mistakes shouldn't be made
in a competition at this level.
But everything will be okay,
it'll all be great.
I'm leaving with a lot of feedback.
This is not the end
of the world or my career.
I was born for this.
Nashy.
You've been my favorite artist.
But you must understand,
this is a competition.
Lex has me like... Right?
-Come on, Lex.
-But, Nashy,
you're still in the competition.
Thank you very much.
I would've liked to have
fine-tuned the lyrics more,
to have played and interacted
with the audience more.
After I recorded the song
in the studio, I thought,
"Is what I'm trying to say
going to be understood?"
Some understood it.
I'm not sure if Lex got it,
or maybe didn't quite get it...
But I'm fine.
I feel like we are searching
down to the smallest details now.
LATIN GRAMMY WINNER
We are down
to the very best in the competition.
It keeps getting tougher.
It's really difficult
because they're all so talented.
We have to make them "fire,"
and I think this will help them...
It will help them a lot from here on out.
Whether they make it to the final or not.
THE SIGNING
THE SIGNING HOUSE
I had to change clothes and
my throat's hoarse from crying so much.
Every time there's an elimination,
we return here sad.
We feel sad about whoever left.
I feel so bad that this is the first time
I actually did well.
And I wanted to enjoy it,
but at the end of the night,
one of the people closest to me left.
So I feel good, and I feel bad.
What do I do?
Now that Nati is gone,
I have a big responsibility.
I'm the only one from Colombia
left in the house,
and I don't want to leave the competition.
Sure, it's really intense
when someone has to leave,
but we also have to recognize that
everyone's here because
we're doing a good job too.
I think it's important to recognize
that we're doing a great job.
And for those staying to feel harmony.
I mean, to not always beat ourselves up,
or sit there punishing ourselves.
What's up?
You know, this used to be my thing.
-Cutting hair.
-Yeah.
The first time I held a shaver,
it was a friend of mine who had bought it.
-One of my best friends.
-You were probably about 15, 16?
Just a kid. Fourteen, 13.
-Right.
-Exactly.
So, he bought the shaver and said,
"Give me the closest cut possible."
"How much does the barber charge?"
"Seven, ten pesos with a tip."
"I have to learn how to do this."
So, I used to cut everyone's hair.
Let's take a break. Take this off.
I'm going to...
-I'm a barber, I'm going to...
-That was a long time ago.
-Gimme a break.
-Do you remember?
-Do you remember?
-I remember, Rauw.
If I mess up your haircut, who cares.
-Will you lend me your beanie?
-You wear a cap.
You know, in music, image has always been...
-Right?
-It's important.
We Boricuas have always been...
-Groomed, for sure.
-Groomed, since...
Especially our hair.
During my career, I've been finding myself
as an artist little by little.
And that's helped me find my image.
I started with those little braids.
Then there was a phase
as a more established artist.
I was always looking for change,
over monotony.
I think that's really important, you know?
In the music world.
Always being aware of the latest fashion...
I'm the kind of person
who loves to be well-dressed.
Groomed. I always like to be
in fashion, up to speed.
Image is important.
I think image is about how you project
the artist you want to be, right?
How you want people to see you.
Okay, man, I'm done with the cut.
That's 200 pesos.
Damn!
You know, it's 2022,
haircuts have gone up a lot.
I'll pay because
it's the legendary Yandel who cut it.
THE SIGNING HOUSE
-Look, man.
-That's the trim.
It's coming out awesome.
Yeah.
Ooh la la.
-Oh la la, sir. In French.
-These are going to shine like...!
-Hello. Hi there!
-Hey!
-Hey! What's up?
-Hi.
-What are you doing?
-Art.
-We're in art class.
-Hey, I want a pair.
I like them.
Those were already really nice.
They're hard to decorate
because they're so nice already.
I have to do even more.
The way I dress
is something that I love.
I love to play with my different...
let's say, personalities.
In some ways.
Because what you wear changes how you act.
When I'm in baggy clothes
I'm really chill, really comfortable.
When I'm in a dress or something,
I take a more serious stance.
And I think it's great
to play with that, with looks.
I stopped by here
to tell you that today's challenge
is called "Be Yourself."
So we're going to have a photo session.
What we want from this challenge
is that, in the session,
you will be 100% yourselves, okay?
Ashly and Oscar will be there,
they're stylists for the big stars.
But, those big stars are still themselves.
So it's very important that
even though you're with the best stylist,
they might sway you one way...
If you don't like it, be clear.
Because, above all, each of you needs
to keep your own style.
I'll be there with you guys.
Bravo!
-Thank you.
-See you.
I really like an Afro-Latin style.
I mean, African.
-Okay.
-That is so sexy.
STYLIST AND MAKEUP ARTIST
I agree.
A new artist's image is really important
because the first impression
is the one that counts.
And if you start off on the right foot,
the result is incredible.
As an artist and as a person
you can wear whatever you want.
But if you walk with confidence,
and you project yourself confidently,
people will buy it and believe it.
So...
I love this. It's kinda "sporty."
-Oversized, casual, super chill.
-Yes.
Oscar introduced us to the image angle.
-I don't agree with that. Do you know why?
-Okay.
It's like what she's already wearing.
They need to feel a little uncomfortable.
I noticed some things but not others.
I mean, I grabbed a jacket
and then I thought,
"Okay, I like this because it mixes
my style with something more elegant."
Well, he kinda told us
which style suited us,
or things he'd recommend,
but in the end we had the last word.
-I love this.
-I don't like that for you.
A little birdie told me
you're "conservative."
That's how they refer to you.
It was hard for me to put up a boundary
and tell them that
nobody knows me better than I do.
Like, "This is what I should wear
because it represents me."
That's interesting because I do like
to show some skin when I can.
Okay.
But I also like to be comfortable
and confident
about showing what I want to show.
Okay.
I just don't see any clothes for Gigi.
-Come on.
-I'm 100% sure about that.
That process of find clothing
was horrible.
-This is for every girl except Gigi.
-Everyone but Gigi?
From the clothing to the shoes,
I'm 100% sure there is nothing here
I'd use for a photoshoot.
I think it's very important
for the participants
to start with their own taste, you know?
It's very important that what they wear
is comfortable and something they like.
It's an important thing to keep in mind
before thinking about your music,
finding yourself and knowing
who you are.
Step forward a bit.
Do you like it or not?
This has nothing to do with Gigi,
I dress more bohemian/urban.
Even though the clothes,
obviously, are not right,
try to convey what you want to convey
with the way you feel.
Posing.
-Posing.
-Playing with the pose.
That's it.
You need to be mature and professional.
If you're dissatisfied,
at least show some confidence.
She's very confident.
She really killed it.
Are you comfortable?
-Yes.
-Are you sure?
Are you wearing something
you didn't want to?
Be honest.
They called me conservative.
So, this is the outfit they gave me.
Do you feel good in that?
I would've liked a different outfit.
The purpose of the photos
is that each of you shows the image
you want to convey as an artist.
It's clear that you're not comfortable.
It's clear you're a little upset
about how they made you feel
and that's not good.
You have to be whatever you want.
In fact, if you want to take a moment now
to pick something you prefer, do it.
That's what you're here for.
If it won't mess up the schedule,
I'd like to.
We're here for you to feel comfortable.
-Okay.
-Shall we do it? Okay.
It happened a lot when I started.
People would say, "You have to wear this."
And maybe it was nice,
but I wanted to dress in a certain way
and I felt comfortable.
-No?
-No.
I think it's good for them to know that
if they're forced to wear
something they don't want to wear,
it will show.
They won't give 100%
because they're uncomfortable.
-Let's see.
-Let's create it based on the shoes.
-That's good.
-That's good, yes.
Look at it from a distance.
-Yes.
-Okay.
-Shall we go with this one?
-Yes, please.
-Yes?
-Okay.
-Happy?
-Yes?
I'm back.
-See?
-Yep.
-You won with the shoes...
-This is what...
I think I'm actually a little disappointed
that I let myself go with the flow,
and by how things went, because at home
I have female role models
who are very independent,
who make their own decisions,
and who don't second guess
doing whatever is best for them.
-Thanks. Yes.
-Good now?
Good.
Nicki saw through the poker face
I was trying to put on,
because that wasn't really
what I wanted to show the world.
Today I learned a very important lesson
which helped me realize
that I need to use my voice and say,
"I don't agree with that,
this is not what I want to do."
"Listen to me."
-I love it.
-I love it too.
Thanks very much, both of you.
Incredible.
A new artist always needs to reflect
their music in their image.
If your music sounds one way
and your image looks another,
fans won't connect with you.
How are you doing?
-Great!
-Great!
Yes!
That smile.
I like to see you like this, happy.
We just looked at the photos.
We're very happy on our end.
You're all different.
You all have something incredible.
I know that today we have to give you
a musical challenge.
Oh, yes. This time, what we want to do...
The theme is,
"Be Yourself."
I think we've started well
with the clothing,
you all choosing what you wear,
how you want to present yourselves.
Now we want to see you in music.
Be yourself, we want to get to know you
with that short minute,
minute and a half of a song.
Today the audience
isn't just looking for a good song.
They're looking for an artist
with a message. One which represents them
and is unique.
The most important thing
is they get to find themselves.
Who they are, what their sound is,
what their voice is.
Let's go spend a couple of minutes
in the studio, and keep pushing, okay?
It's so easy once you have recognition
to stop being who you are.
To begin to, I don't know,
pretend to be someone else.
It's very important that I focus on
them not losing the essence
that makes them who they are.
REBEL 11 STUDIOS
Writing based on experience is easy
because you've been through it.
And I think if they work that way,
they're on the right track.
Your music and your content speak,
in a way, about who you are.
Maybe you love a lot,
so your music is about love,
or it's about fights.
If your image doesn't reflect that,
there's a disconnect between what
you're saying and what you're showing.
Baby, I don't know who wins
I wrote a song called "Growing up."
-One more time?
-Okay.
I'd like to talk about how I feel because
in a way, writing is like therapy for me.
This challenge will definitely be
a little hard for me.
I don't like feeling vulnerable
in front of people.
And, in general,
I write about universal experiences.
I think the song is fine,
the melody and the lyrics really get me,
but I think
if we bring up the tempo a bit, then...
to stir people up when you sing it live,
it'd be good.
After what happened
when I had the photos taken,
maybe now I'll explore how to express
myself through my songs a little more,
and be a bit more vulnerable.
I absolutely let them know who I am.
Well, I'm now on my own
representing Colombia
and I obviously want to go as far as I can
so I can do our country proud.
Eyes they'll never see
Higher than the pedestal
I have all the confidence in the world
about who I am.
We'll see if that's enough for the judges,
or if they're open to new possibilities
because I really don't want to lose this.
I don't want to stop being who I am
at an artistic level.
I think I can do it better a second time.
The producers who are working
on this project,
the writers, everyone who's behind it,
are people with
a lot of knowledge and wisdom.
So, this experience
will be helpful for them in the future.
THE SIGNING HOUSE
Is anyone worried about "Be Yourself?"
-Raise your hand.
-It's fine.
-No...
-No, I feel like...
-Diego, please.
-The challenge is hard.
People can't understand you,
but they love your music.
I always try to leave
my insecurities aside.
No matter how insecure I feel,
I won't show it.
The others are like,
"You're never nervous."
Yes, I am dying of nerves
but I won't show that to you.
I feel like it will hurt, obviously,
because if they kick you out
in the "Be Yourself" challenge,
your self-esteem will say, "Man,
they kicked you out for being yourself."
You know what I mean?
I've always known
that I'm my own worst enemy.
I'm the one who tells myself, "I can't."
I'm the one who says,
"It won't turn out right."
I'm the one who creates these limitations,
which, at the end of the day,
smother me and keep me from growing.
I think tomorrow's challenge will be tough
because we are who we are.
Each of us has a uniqueness.
We have to celebrate that.
And if I go, I want to leave for being me.
But I don't want to go.
Yes, I'll definitely be myself,
but I was myself the first time too,
and it got me in trouble, so...
Like Mila says, I'd rather be eliminated
for a song which I know represents me,
than be eliminated for a song where,
"I just did that to please."
A bit harder and it would've gone in.
That one's really hard.
Come on, man.
Why don't you just fuck off?
Hey, you can't get it in there.
Go for the corner. Where the...
-What the...?
-We got a message.
A big hug to the whole crew from José.
I want to share about being authentic
and being yourselves.
Because, evidently, that also influences
the way that you express yourself, like...
It's like the way you express yourself
without words. It's what you represent.
As artists, it's not that we're sensitive,
what we are is sensorial.
And everything that comes up,
good or bad, is unfiltered.
Stay confident in yourselves
even if insecurity gets to you.
It's part of any human being's nature.
And as artists, we're not free from it.
A big hug, I love you. José.
I liked that he said as artists,
we're not free from feeling insecure.
Today, we will show the unique qualities
which represent each of us.
Empower ourselves.
Celebrate how unique each of us is.
Yes, today's challenge is "Be Yourself."
So when we get up on that stage...
At this stage in the competition,
we're halfway through.
Any slip-up or any mistake,
no matter how small it is,
Can cost you your spot here.
Give it to me!
The Signing's what's up.
The king of success,
with the biggest hit songs of the decade.
Tainy.
The legend Yandel.
Nicki Nicole!
Rauw Alejandro.
And the co-founder of Neon16,
Lex Borrero.
Who will be the next superstar
of Spanish-language music?
Come on, when's the show going to start?
Hey this is a show,
we're international artists
who came to Miami to sing
at a little show. It's a festival.
It's one more show,
we've already had four shows in two weeks.
We're killing this world tour,
you know what I mean?
It's one more step.
The Miami tour.
In my song, I wrote about growing up.
About going from being an adolescent
to facing all the conflicts
and things in adult life.
"GROWING UP"
For a while
I've been dragging feelings
That are tied to my being
I was always the dragon of my own story
I don't know myself
But I'm still trying
I don't know where I'm going
Or where I'm from
But I know that I'm living
I'm a sweet, sweet poppy
And I have thorns like a rose
Like fire, I'm water,
I'm peace, I'm weapons
In my internal war
I don't know who wins
Sweet, sweet poppy
I have thorns like a rose
Like fire, I'm water,
I'm peace, I'm weapons
In my internal war
I don't know who wins
I feel I don't know myself
But I'm getting there
Thousands of contradictions in my body
But it's because I'm growing
I believe that
People tell me I'm strong today
Strength left me some scars
I'm growing, don't change my roots
I'm looking for my life in the nuances
I was always the dragon of my own story
I don't know myself
But I'm still trying
I don't know where I'm going
Or where I'm from
But I know that I'm living
I'm a sweet, sweet poppy
And I have thorns like a rose
Like fire, I'm water,
I'm peace, I'm weapons
In my internal war
I don't know who wins
So, this challenge is perfect for you
because you really have been yourself
with every song you've presented us.
Today you killed it.
-I have nothing bad to say.
-Thanks very much.
You smashed it hard.
I loved what I saw.
Your talent gets stronger every time.
We know what you are, we see you,
and you're a beast up on the stage.
So, congratulations on that.
Thank you very much.
Nashy...
An incredible voice,
but I feel like, in terms of lyricism,
we're not learning a lot about your style,
or who you are, but you have something.
We'll keep shaping it and perfecting it
and I think you'll find the right path.
Thanks so much, really.
I think that what happened to me
last time, from being nominated
and feeling like it's all gone to shit,
to feeling like
you're on top of the world,
it's like, boom! It hits you like a bucket
of cold water, but I'm happy.
We have nothing more to tell her.
She's still killing it, yeah.
I feel at peace for tonight's performance.
Calm. I have to convince them.
The challenge is to show who I am
and that's what I'm going to do,
so I'm taking it easy.
From Bogotá, Colombia. Mila!
What's up, Miami?
How are you all?
For me, lyrics are very important.
They're my life.
I feel like they define me, and this song
defines me because it's a risk.
But if I wasn't going
against the grain just a little,
I wouldn't be showing you
who Mila really is.
So, let's hit it!
Mila!
Crystal candelabras
"CHAMPAGNE"
Jewelry for decoration
Dose of frivolity
From high society
To not see, to not see
They drink, and drink again
Champagne, champagne
To glamorize guilt
Champagne, champagne
Mouths shut
Glasses of champagne
Everyone wins
Here comes the champagne
I'm not the problem
Here comes the champagne
I didn't see it
It didn't happen
No one wants to do anything
With their mouths closed
I filtered the stare at my back
Indifference is trendy
Convenience is trending
Luxuries and riches
So as not to bear the sorrows
From the streets of danger
The hidden neighborhoods
People who haven't eaten
So much lacking
So much emptiness
To not see, to not see
They drink, and drink again
Champagne, champagne
To glamorize guilt
Champagne, champagne
Mouths shut
Glasses of champagne
Everyone wins
Thank you!
Thank you very much.
"Champagne," by Mila.
Rhythmically, I liked it very much.
I couldn't understand it very well.
You would come away a bit
when you were singing low,
when you should've been
closer to the microphone.
Whatever happens,
always be the Mila that you are.
You get me?
If the world says blue, I say red.
That's something that identifies you,
and I saw it here,
which was tonight's challenge.
So, congratulations.
Thank you so much, Rauw.
Lex.
Mila.
Hi, Lex.
"Hi, Lex."
You know, the...
The level of artistic talent
that we have in this competition
is so high,
and I don't know if you'll get there
before the end of the competition.
You're lacking. I can't say
that I'm a fan of Mila as an artist today.
Thanks, Lex.
Lex still can't stand me,
I don't know what to do.
One screw-up when I was
too far away from the microphone,
so they couldn't hear.
I don't know how bad it will screw me.
From the start I've known what she wants...
What she is as an artist.
She's, like, very social...
Yes, she wants to convey her concept.
-But here you can't...
-But the song itself didn't cut it.
I ended up on thin ice
with my last performance.
So, what I am trying to do is relax,
and let things flow the way they need to.
I think things always go better that way.
From The Dominican Republic, Rmand!
What are my people from Miami saying?
Ooh la la.
My people,
this song is very important to me.
Because it represents my romantic side.
So, this song is called,
"Flight To Mars."
It goes like this. Drop it.
"FLIGHT TO MARS"
Yeah, yeah
Yeah
Baby, your heat
Hey!
Has stayed tattooed on my skin
Yo
If you knew that I
Am dying from desire
To see you again
Yo
In the multitude
Yo
The one who kills me is you
Yo
Baby, I just can't forget you
You're something different
I want to stay between your heartbeats
Yo, yo, yo!
When we go in the bedroom
Don't turn off the light
I want to see every drop
If I make you sweat
I have the jacuzzi ready for you with foam
So tell him I'm the only one
Screwing you
I'm breaking you like a set of instruments
Order what you want
My wallet is full
You're sure that there's no one like you
Okay
With me you use your manners
Baby, I just can't forget you
Bro, this has been the best
performance tonight, for real.
All the judges here know
you're one of the best in the competition.
You have great talent,
and great potential.
You came in focused,
and that's very important for an artist.
To shut everything out around you
when tons of things are going on,
and focus on
what you're going to do on stage.
And you just showed that here.
Congratulations, you killed it tonight.
Thank you, Rauw.
I'll say quickly that today's challenge
was being yourself.
And the cool thing about you is
Rmand isn't tied to one music style.
I loved your song, the performance,
the melody, the falsetto.
Everything you did was super cool.
I honestly don't have
anything bad to tell you.
I just loved it, Rmand.
Thank you.
Thank you, my people.
He knows he killed it.
He's really sure of himself.
He's very confident.
That kid has a very clear vision.
My life has been inspired by heartbreak.
Approximately four months ago
I separated from my partner.
It hurt my heart.
And this is inspired by that story.
What's going on, Miami?
Good evening.
I brought a little reggaeton today.
So I hope you enjoy it.
I know this isn't the time to call
I just want to know where you are
"LAW OF ATTRACTION"
Because people say you've turned a page
But you and I know
There are a couple more
My hand used to be the one touching you
Now you're with another girl
Just because you're lonely
Knowing I didn't know anything
What's up, Miami?!
I'm dying from anxiety
Hey!
To go looking for you
Still knowing I won't find you
You're no longer the same
You really have changed
I can't have you even if I hack
The law of attraction
If we're not meeting, I'll send you pics
So you remember me clearly
I dedicate this song to you from Miami
In a studio my heart once dreamed of
So you see that I remember you
How your hands touched me
That was the best
Now you're not here
I swear I don't have another guy
I'm still loyal to you
Even if it's just a portrait
I'll light this joint
To see if my head can forget you
I'm dying from anxiety
To go looking for you
Still knowing I won't find you
My longing to see you
Always makes me forgive you
I'll be honest.
Of all the performances you've given us,
of all the songs you've given us,
this wasn't my favorite.
I didn't feel the thrill I experienced
with the other performances you've given.
Not just lyrically, but musically,
the performance in this show...
And at this point in the competition,
those choices have a cost.
At the end of the day,
those little choices
can lead to your elimination
and send you home.
I do feel like the structure of the song
wasn't really allowing you
to show off who you are 100%.
It seemed like you were "lost."
I know you weren't, but it felt that way.
So, be more confident
with yourself on stage.
Just that, move side to side.
And just relax.
We will always tell you
these things so you can improve.
Thanks very much.
Bye!
Now I'm really deeply confused, I mean...
She went from being my favorite to being...
Not everybody is happy.
But I feel satisfied
with how the performance went,
and any type of experience, good or bad,
will always teach me more.
And I'll make something better out of it.
This song
will be a song
I'll be able to sing with ease
because it has the genres that I like.
And the coolest part is that today,
I can see that I've learned tons.
And that going through this process
was essential for my career.
If I leave today, I will feel as fulfilled
as I would've if I left in three weeks.
Straight from Hermosillo, Mexico,
here is Mosmo!
Good evening, Miami!
I want to show my influences,
who I am, my sound.
So, this song is called "300 Heartbeats,"
and right now mine is racing, you know.
Drop it, DJ.
From "H."
Three hundred heartbeats
"300 HEARTBEATS"
In my heart
And it dies for you
Three hundred heartbeats
I don't feel alive if you're not here
You know, you've got me committed, woman
I've been drowning in bottles
Since you've been gone.
Now things are changing
I've changed roles
I see you want me
Let me know
You
Hey
You broke my heart
But I'm still here
To me you're perfect
In every way, hey
There's nothing lovelier than your skin
Honey, you look so good
Woah
I don't know why you've got me
Coming and going
I'm willing to do anything
You just come
I want to take you around the world
To give you passion
Woah
If you like
We can do it again
Woah
Three hundred heartbeats
In my heart
And it dies for you
Three hundred heartbeats
I don't feel alive if you're not here
You know you've got me committed, woman
I've been drowning in bottles
Since you've been gone.
Yeah
What I want to know is what you want
to show of yourself with this song.
Since the challenge was
to talk about oneself, right?
Well first, the sound. It's regional.
The guitars and the urban part too.
And I'm a romantic person,
so that's the vibe.
I love it. I love that you did what
you've wanted to since the beginning,
and that you're doing it now,
and congratulations on this song.
-I feel it represents you 100%.
-Wow, thanks.
Mosmo, as you know,
I will always be honest.
I think that the tracks
you're choosing, the style,
is becoming more like that of an artist.
But I'd like to feel a bit more of those
roots from that regional side of yours.
The audience has to feel
not only the lyrics and the track,
but your performance and image too.
These things are very important to me
and what I look for in an artist.
Thank you, everybody.
Thanks, Miami. Thanks, everybody.
I liked the chorus.
But the verses need work.
I think I'm achieving
what I wanted to achieve
which is a style,
an essence, that I identify with.
In terms of lyrics I have to improve.
I need to work.
I'm really keen to get to work.
Although, strictly speaking,
this song isn't about me,
or a personal experience,
I don't really have a private life
because I sing everything I experience.
And that's the point of my lyrics.
And today I want the judges
to appreciate that side of me.
From Río Grande, Puerto Rico,
a round of applause for Gigi Saldaña!
Good evening!
I'm liking this!
This song is called "Cold-blooded."
No one knows what they have
Until they lose it
"COLD-BLOODED"
You look around
But can't solve it
Why so surprised?
I forget too
You called me
I was lost
You were looking for me
I was doing my thing
I don't take you seriously anymore
I'm one of those cold-blooded girls
You called me
I was lost
You were looking for me
I was doing my thing
I don't take you seriously anymore
I'm one of those cold-blooded girls
She's killing it.
Baby, I know that this weather
Is for practicing making babies
I know you want it
I don't
I don't want it anymore
I can forget about everything
Holy Mother
If I leave your side
You'll have a bad time
If I go somewhere else
I'm going to sing
I know you want it
But I have girls now
I have...
You called me
I was lost
You were looking for me
I was doing my thing
I don't take you seriously anymore
I'm one of those cold-blooded girls
You called me
I was lost
Ms. Gigi!
I got a Gigi who felt free.
When you got into the melody,
fusing R&B with dancehall...
This flow that you have
really represents the Caribbean.
You have a very clear vision
and I think this kind of...
with the flow you had today,
you really shined.
Congratulations. Keep killing it, Gigi.
Thank you.
Gigi, I'll be honest.
Since day one,
I said, "You have talent,
but I'm not sure if you're an artist."
I'm looking for an artist.
And there are many artists
in this competition.
There are a lot of people
with a lot of talent,
so talent is not enough.
And today you proved me wrong
with your performance.
So,
keep it up and make it the same next time.
See you. Thank you!
Man, she saved herself.
I would've eliminated her today.
-No, but I get what you were saying.
-Yes.
No, because...
I feel really nervous because
today's challenge is "Be Yourself."
I feel happy with the song I'm performing
and the way I'll be performing it.
So, whatever happens,
I'm happy with what I've achieved.
Let's welcome Eydrey.
Today I've brought you a sad song,
which is what I like to do.
I hope you like it,
it's called "Nothing From You."
The nights and the days go by
"NOTHING FROM YOU"
Life feels eternal
I never would've imagined it like this
Look at me, here
I don't know how many nights without sleep
Forgetting what I suffered
Longing to see you
In front of me here
The mirror laughs at me
It knows I'm a bad liar
I pretend to be strong
And there's nothing left
The words are erased
I'm used to being wrong by now
All of our memories
I threw out the window
And there's nothing left
Now I'm used
To expecting nothing from you
Nothing from you
Nothing from you
Nothing from you
In front of me here
The mirror laughs at me
It knows I'm a bad liar
I pretend to be strong
Eydrey, how are you?
Hello.
-Everything good?
-Happy, yes.
Happy. How did you feel on stage today?
I feel like every time I get on stage
I feel a bit more comfortable.
I'd still like my movements
to feel a bit more natural,
but I feel that little by little
I am getting there.
You're learning, that's good.
Alright, Eydrey,
you have a unique sound.
In this song, the only thing I thought
was when the beat popped,
your voice went up and I think it reached
a pitch that was uncomfortable for you.
You didn't seem very relaxed.
It looked like you had to make
a bit of an effort.
It's cool that you're pushing yourself.
But if you're in studio
and you get a break, tell yourself,
"No, I have to bring it down a notch,"
or, "Let me extend those notes a bit more
and not have such a long chorus."
That was my only note for you tonight.
Thanks, Tainy.
I love that you feel
more confident on stage,
but I think the music
needs a bit more work.
You have to stop being afraid
of your own talent.
You're in a position where,
if you don't risk it,
you could lose this competition.
-Okay. I will try it. I will do it.
-Thank you.
My voice still lacks lots of training
when it comes to, well, moving,
maintaining the note,
breathing, my fitness.
I'm not sure
if I've earned a spot in the next round.
If this is my last show,
that would be sad, but I'll keep working
so that you hear about me in a few years.
For this song's lyrics I took inspiration
from how my life has been.
Performing this song is new for me
since the last two songs
were completely different.
This song was meant to break the mold,
and I hope the judges like it.
What's up, Miami?
Are you good?
Drop it, DJ!
Jump, one, two...!
Life made me a ghetto soldier
"GHETTO SOLDIER"
It turned me into a warrior
Come on! I'm a ghetto soldier, baby
They want to screw me over
And I speed up for you
We're sad kids
But I'm still a rock star
I'm one more warrior
Always remember
It was for you all
Mom said "Give it til it hurts"
"Pray to Jehova"
My grandma said
At school they said I'd achieve nothing
Look where I am
My people, thanks to my little siblings
Who believed in me
Now Dieguito's killing it in Miami
A family waiting for a new hit
That's it
That's my emphasis
I've got so much music stored
I can make 20 records
From handling drugs as a kid
I got addicted
"Giving till it hurts"
A phrase I can relate to
My life was a location without a mic
To tell the truth
I feel like Messi on the bench
A lion waiting for its prey
These fools want to catch me
I'm gonna make noise
Though they wanna turn me down
I'm gonna win a Billboard
And get to number one
For my sister and my mom
You don't know how blessed you are
To give yours a kiss when you wake up
Few will understand
Ghetto soldier, baby
They want to screw me over
And I speed up for you
We're sad kids
But I'm still a rock star
I'm one more warrior
Always remember
For you all
Diego Smith!
Santiago, Chile in the house.
Diego, you have a pretty sick flow,
I like it, my brother.
In fact, I like
how confident you are coming onstage,
how relaxed you are,
how much you enjoy it.
Congratulations, brother,
great night, man.
Great night, buddy.
-What do you think, Tainy?
-Diego.
This is what we wanted to see,
you being yourself tonight,
representing who you are,
where you're from.
I really liked the song, I liked the vibe.
That's it, bro,
congratulations on tonight.
There is one thing I'd recommend.
Always keep this in mind.
You're on stage, there are many emotions.
I know that can fail sometimes.
And articulating is very important, right?
Controlling the airflow, the breath.
Keep these details in mind
for the next performance,
and congratulations, brother.
Exactly, brother.
Thanks, everybody!
Well, thanks.
-That kid kills it.
-I love him.
-He's a sweetheart.
-He kills it hard.
-He's a sweetheart.
-He kills it hard.
He smashed it hard.
These lyrics allowed me
to show a little more of who Diego is,
my heart, what I love, what I do.
And we killed it!
Okay, time for our decision.
The competition is getting harder.
I want to hear what you all think.
Who are we sending back home?
At this stage in the competition,
more than one person should be going home.
These four that we have here, at least,
I think we all agree that tonight,
they're the ones who are on thin ice.
I feel like we have to remind them
that this is a competition
and one bad night
can send you home, so I think...
We were going to put pressure on her.
"No, let's wait and see what she does,
then we'll decide."
We're giving her a pass,
and she knows, "I'm good..."
-"I've done enough."
-Yes.
That's the hard part in this competition.
There are high standards.
Yes. At the end of the day,
we can only give it to one guy.
-That's right.
-Or one girl.
To be clear, we scare her,
she's gone.
She's gone.
No, that's not right.
-She's gone?!
-She stays.
Yeah.
Okay, so...
That's it.
-We scare her, and send this one home.
-We scare her.
-Exactly..
-That's how it is.
Do we all agree?
Tony.
Please bring me the contracts.
-Oh, here comes Mr. Tony.
-Run.
Good evening.
Mila.
Eydrey.
-I knew it.
-Wanda.
-What a surprise.
-Please come with me.
-See you.
-Of course.
Yes, thanks.
We are now
halfway through the competition.
The question is,
which one of you has what it takes
to stay in the competition,
and get signed?
Mila, I respect your mission very much,
your goals and your philosophy
of bringing a message to humanity.
We need people like that, right?
But musically,
I think you could be doing
a much better job.
Okay. Eydrey, personally,
I touched on the chorus before,
I may have sensed you were a bit forced.
I feel like you've grown
with each challenge,
and we've noticed you're getting there,
but we have yet to see
the culmination, or that moment
where we say, "Wow, she found herself."
There are a few elements
where we're considering
giving you another chance,
where we could wait a little longer
to see if we get there.
Wanda.
You've shown us that your talent is here.
And lately, you're around here.
So, as the people who can see
the kind of potential you have,
we have to let you know
how far you can go.
Like I told you at the start,
we're looking for an artist
with a clear message.
Because there are
a lot of people with talent,
but very few with something to say.
And now, what we came for...
Tony, the contracts.
THE SIGNING
LISTEN TO THE OFFICIAL
THE SIGNING PLAYLIST
Subtitle translation by: Bridget Ochocka
Your musical talent and ability to write
songs in a different format
is exactly what I was looking for.
But this competition
will bring out
the best and worst of each person.
And your mistakes
could cost you the chance of a lifetime.
This is the only reprieve I'll give you.
You're still in the competition.
Nati...
After the first challenge,
I gave you my feedback.
I needed more.
After the second challenge,
I gave you my feedback. I needed more.
And today, I needed more.
And that is why
you will not be signed.
Your contract has been terminated.
Thank you.
Everybody makes mistakes.
Some mistakes shouldn't be made
in a competition at this level.
But everything will be okay,
it'll all be great.
I'm leaving with a lot of feedback.
This is not the end
of the world or my career.
I was born for this.
Nashy.
You've been my favorite artist.
But you must understand,
this is a competition.
Lex has me like... Right?
-Come on, Lex.
-But, Nashy,
you're still in the competition.
Thank you very much.
I would've liked to have
fine-tuned the lyrics more,
to have played and interacted
with the audience more.
After I recorded the song
in the studio, I thought,
"Is what I'm trying to say
going to be understood?"
Some understood it.
I'm not sure if Lex got it,
or maybe didn't quite get it...
But I'm fine.
I feel like we are searching
down to the smallest details now.
LATIN GRAMMY WINNER
We are down
to the very best in the competition.
It keeps getting tougher.
It's really difficult
because they're all so talented.
We have to make them "fire,"
and I think this will help them...
It will help them a lot from here on out.
Whether they make it to the final or not.
THE SIGNING
THE SIGNING HOUSE
I had to change clothes and
my throat's hoarse from crying so much.
Every time there's an elimination,
we return here sad.
We feel sad about whoever left.
I feel so bad that this is the first time
I actually did well.
And I wanted to enjoy it,
but at the end of the night,
one of the people closest to me left.
So I feel good, and I feel bad.
What do I do?
Now that Nati is gone,
I have a big responsibility.
I'm the only one from Colombia
left in the house,
and I don't want to leave the competition.
Sure, it's really intense
when someone has to leave,
but we also have to recognize that
everyone's here because
we're doing a good job too.
I think it's important to recognize
that we're doing a great job.
And for those staying to feel harmony.
I mean, to not always beat ourselves up,
or sit there punishing ourselves.
What's up?
You know, this used to be my thing.
-Cutting hair.
-Yeah.
The first time I held a shaver,
it was a friend of mine who had bought it.
-One of my best friends.
-You were probably about 15, 16?
Just a kid. Fourteen, 13.
-Right.
-Exactly.
So, he bought the shaver and said,
"Give me the closest cut possible."
"How much does the barber charge?"
"Seven, ten pesos with a tip."
"I have to learn how to do this."
So, I used to cut everyone's hair.
Let's take a break. Take this off.
I'm going to...
-I'm a barber, I'm going to...
-That was a long time ago.
-Gimme a break.
-Do you remember?
-Do you remember?
-I remember, Rauw.
If I mess up your haircut, who cares.
-Will you lend me your beanie?
-You wear a cap.
You know, in music, image has always been...
-Right?
-It's important.
We Boricuas have always been...
-Groomed, for sure.
-Groomed, since...
Especially our hair.
During my career, I've been finding myself
as an artist little by little.
And that's helped me find my image.
I started with those little braids.
Then there was a phase
as a more established artist.
I was always looking for change,
over monotony.
I think that's really important, you know?
In the music world.
Always being aware of the latest fashion...
I'm the kind of person
who loves to be well-dressed.
Groomed. I always like to be
in fashion, up to speed.
Image is important.
I think image is about how you project
the artist you want to be, right?
How you want people to see you.
Okay, man, I'm done with the cut.
That's 200 pesos.
Damn!
You know, it's 2022,
haircuts have gone up a lot.
I'll pay because
it's the legendary Yandel who cut it.
THE SIGNING HOUSE
-Look, man.
-That's the trim.
It's coming out awesome.
Yeah.
Ooh la la.
-Oh la la, sir. In French.
-These are going to shine like...!
-Hello. Hi there!
-Hey!
-Hey! What's up?
-Hi.
-What are you doing?
-Art.
-We're in art class.
-Hey, I want a pair.
I like them.
Those were already really nice.
They're hard to decorate
because they're so nice already.
I have to do even more.
The way I dress
is something that I love.
I love to play with my different...
let's say, personalities.
In some ways.
Because what you wear changes how you act.
When I'm in baggy clothes
I'm really chill, really comfortable.
When I'm in a dress or something,
I take a more serious stance.
And I think it's great
to play with that, with looks.
I stopped by here
to tell you that today's challenge
is called "Be Yourself."
So we're going to have a photo session.
What we want from this challenge
is that, in the session,
you will be 100% yourselves, okay?
Ashly and Oscar will be there,
they're stylists for the big stars.
But, those big stars are still themselves.
So it's very important that
even though you're with the best stylist,
they might sway you one way...
If you don't like it, be clear.
Because, above all, each of you needs
to keep your own style.
I'll be there with you guys.
Bravo!
-Thank you.
-See you.
I really like an Afro-Latin style.
I mean, African.
-Okay.
-That is so sexy.
STYLIST AND MAKEUP ARTIST
I agree.
A new artist's image is really important
because the first impression
is the one that counts.
And if you start off on the right foot,
the result is incredible.
As an artist and as a person
you can wear whatever you want.
But if you walk with confidence,
and you project yourself confidently,
people will buy it and believe it.
So...
I love this. It's kinda "sporty."
-Oversized, casual, super chill.
-Yes.
Oscar introduced us to the image angle.
-I don't agree with that. Do you know why?
-Okay.
It's like what she's already wearing.
They need to feel a little uncomfortable.
I noticed some things but not others.
I mean, I grabbed a jacket
and then I thought,
"Okay, I like this because it mixes
my style with something more elegant."
Well, he kinda told us
which style suited us,
or things he'd recommend,
but in the end we had the last word.
-I love this.
-I don't like that for you.
A little birdie told me
you're "conservative."
That's how they refer to you.
It was hard for me to put up a boundary
and tell them that
nobody knows me better than I do.
Like, "This is what I should wear
because it represents me."
That's interesting because I do like
to show some skin when I can.
Okay.
But I also like to be comfortable
and confident
about showing what I want to show.
Okay.
I just don't see any clothes for Gigi.
-Come on.
-I'm 100% sure about that.
That process of find clothing
was horrible.
-This is for every girl except Gigi.
-Everyone but Gigi?
From the clothing to the shoes,
I'm 100% sure there is nothing here
I'd use for a photoshoot.
I think it's very important
for the participants
to start with their own taste, you know?
It's very important that what they wear
is comfortable and something they like.
It's an important thing to keep in mind
before thinking about your music,
finding yourself and knowing
who you are.
Step forward a bit.
Do you like it or not?
This has nothing to do with Gigi,
I dress more bohemian/urban.
Even though the clothes,
obviously, are not right,
try to convey what you want to convey
with the way you feel.
Posing.
-Posing.
-Playing with the pose.
That's it.
You need to be mature and professional.
If you're dissatisfied,
at least show some confidence.
She's very confident.
She really killed it.
Are you comfortable?
-Yes.
-Are you sure?
Are you wearing something
you didn't want to?
Be honest.
They called me conservative.
So, this is the outfit they gave me.
Do you feel good in that?
I would've liked a different outfit.
The purpose of the photos
is that each of you shows the image
you want to convey as an artist.
It's clear that you're not comfortable.
It's clear you're a little upset
about how they made you feel
and that's not good.
You have to be whatever you want.
In fact, if you want to take a moment now
to pick something you prefer, do it.
That's what you're here for.
If it won't mess up the schedule,
I'd like to.
We're here for you to feel comfortable.
-Okay.
-Shall we do it? Okay.
It happened a lot when I started.
People would say, "You have to wear this."
And maybe it was nice,
but I wanted to dress in a certain way
and I felt comfortable.
-No?
-No.
I think it's good for them to know that
if they're forced to wear
something they don't want to wear,
it will show.
They won't give 100%
because they're uncomfortable.
-Let's see.
-Let's create it based on the shoes.
-That's good.
-That's good, yes.
Look at it from a distance.
-Yes.
-Okay.
-Shall we go with this one?
-Yes, please.
-Yes?
-Okay.
-Happy?
-Yes?
I'm back.
-See?
-Yep.
-You won with the shoes...
-This is what...
I think I'm actually a little disappointed
that I let myself go with the flow,
and by how things went, because at home
I have female role models
who are very independent,
who make their own decisions,
and who don't second guess
doing whatever is best for them.
-Thanks. Yes.
-Good now?
Good.
Nicki saw through the poker face
I was trying to put on,
because that wasn't really
what I wanted to show the world.
Today I learned a very important lesson
which helped me realize
that I need to use my voice and say,
"I don't agree with that,
this is not what I want to do."
"Listen to me."
-I love it.
-I love it too.
Thanks very much, both of you.
Incredible.
A new artist always needs to reflect
their music in their image.
If your music sounds one way
and your image looks another,
fans won't connect with you.
How are you doing?
-Great!
-Great!
Yes!
That smile.
I like to see you like this, happy.
We just looked at the photos.
We're very happy on our end.
You're all different.
You all have something incredible.
I know that today we have to give you
a musical challenge.
Oh, yes. This time, what we want to do...
The theme is,
"Be Yourself."
I think we've started well
with the clothing,
you all choosing what you wear,
how you want to present yourselves.
Now we want to see you in music.
Be yourself, we want to get to know you
with that short minute,
minute and a half of a song.
Today the audience
isn't just looking for a good song.
They're looking for an artist
with a message. One which represents them
and is unique.
The most important thing
is they get to find themselves.
Who they are, what their sound is,
what their voice is.
Let's go spend a couple of minutes
in the studio, and keep pushing, okay?
It's so easy once you have recognition
to stop being who you are.
To begin to, I don't know,
pretend to be someone else.
It's very important that I focus on
them not losing the essence
that makes them who they are.
REBEL 11 STUDIOS
Writing based on experience is easy
because you've been through it.
And I think if they work that way,
they're on the right track.
Your music and your content speak,
in a way, about who you are.
Maybe you love a lot,
so your music is about love,
or it's about fights.
If your image doesn't reflect that,
there's a disconnect between what
you're saying and what you're showing.
Baby, I don't know who wins
I wrote a song called "Growing up."
-One more time?
-Okay.
I'd like to talk about how I feel because
in a way, writing is like therapy for me.
This challenge will definitely be
a little hard for me.
I don't like feeling vulnerable
in front of people.
And, in general,
I write about universal experiences.
I think the song is fine,
the melody and the lyrics really get me,
but I think
if we bring up the tempo a bit, then...
to stir people up when you sing it live,
it'd be good.
After what happened
when I had the photos taken,
maybe now I'll explore how to express
myself through my songs a little more,
and be a bit more vulnerable.
I absolutely let them know who I am.
Well, I'm now on my own
representing Colombia
and I obviously want to go as far as I can
so I can do our country proud.
Eyes they'll never see
Higher than the pedestal
I have all the confidence in the world
about who I am.
We'll see if that's enough for the judges,
or if they're open to new possibilities
because I really don't want to lose this.
I don't want to stop being who I am
at an artistic level.
I think I can do it better a second time.
The producers who are working
on this project,
the writers, everyone who's behind it,
are people with
a lot of knowledge and wisdom.
So, this experience
will be helpful for them in the future.
THE SIGNING HOUSE
Is anyone worried about "Be Yourself?"
-Raise your hand.
-It's fine.
-No...
-No, I feel like...
-Diego, please.
-The challenge is hard.
People can't understand you,
but they love your music.
I always try to leave
my insecurities aside.
No matter how insecure I feel,
I won't show it.
The others are like,
"You're never nervous."
Yes, I am dying of nerves
but I won't show that to you.
I feel like it will hurt, obviously,
because if they kick you out
in the "Be Yourself" challenge,
your self-esteem will say, "Man,
they kicked you out for being yourself."
You know what I mean?
I've always known
that I'm my own worst enemy.
I'm the one who tells myself, "I can't."
I'm the one who says,
"It won't turn out right."
I'm the one who creates these limitations,
which, at the end of the day,
smother me and keep me from growing.
I think tomorrow's challenge will be tough
because we are who we are.
Each of us has a uniqueness.
We have to celebrate that.
And if I go, I want to leave for being me.
But I don't want to go.
Yes, I'll definitely be myself,
but I was myself the first time too,
and it got me in trouble, so...
Like Mila says, I'd rather be eliminated
for a song which I know represents me,
than be eliminated for a song where,
"I just did that to please."
A bit harder and it would've gone in.
That one's really hard.
Come on, man.
Why don't you just fuck off?
Hey, you can't get it in there.
Go for the corner. Where the...
-What the...?
-We got a message.
A big hug to the whole crew from José.
I want to share about being authentic
and being yourselves.
Because, evidently, that also influences
the way that you express yourself, like...
It's like the way you express yourself
without words. It's what you represent.
As artists, it's not that we're sensitive,
what we are is sensorial.
And everything that comes up,
good or bad, is unfiltered.
Stay confident in yourselves
even if insecurity gets to you.
It's part of any human being's nature.
And as artists, we're not free from it.
A big hug, I love you. José.
I liked that he said as artists,
we're not free from feeling insecure.
Today, we will show the unique qualities
which represent each of us.
Empower ourselves.
Celebrate how unique each of us is.
Yes, today's challenge is "Be Yourself."
So when we get up on that stage...
At this stage in the competition,
we're halfway through.
Any slip-up or any mistake,
no matter how small it is,
Can cost you your spot here.
Give it to me!
The Signing's what's up.
The king of success,
with the biggest hit songs of the decade.
Tainy.
The legend Yandel.
Nicki Nicole!
Rauw Alejandro.
And the co-founder of Neon16,
Lex Borrero.
Who will be the next superstar
of Spanish-language music?
Come on, when's the show going to start?
Hey this is a show,
we're international artists
who came to Miami to sing
at a little show. It's a festival.
It's one more show,
we've already had four shows in two weeks.
We're killing this world tour,
you know what I mean?
It's one more step.
The Miami tour.
In my song, I wrote about growing up.
About going from being an adolescent
to facing all the conflicts
and things in adult life.
"GROWING UP"
For a while
I've been dragging feelings
That are tied to my being
I was always the dragon of my own story
I don't know myself
But I'm still trying
I don't know where I'm going
Or where I'm from
But I know that I'm living
I'm a sweet, sweet poppy
And I have thorns like a rose
Like fire, I'm water,
I'm peace, I'm weapons
In my internal war
I don't know who wins
Sweet, sweet poppy
I have thorns like a rose
Like fire, I'm water,
I'm peace, I'm weapons
In my internal war
I don't know who wins
I feel I don't know myself
But I'm getting there
Thousands of contradictions in my body
But it's because I'm growing
I believe that
People tell me I'm strong today
Strength left me some scars
I'm growing, don't change my roots
I'm looking for my life in the nuances
I was always the dragon of my own story
I don't know myself
But I'm still trying
I don't know where I'm going
Or where I'm from
But I know that I'm living
I'm a sweet, sweet poppy
And I have thorns like a rose
Like fire, I'm water,
I'm peace, I'm weapons
In my internal war
I don't know who wins
So, this challenge is perfect for you
because you really have been yourself
with every song you've presented us.
Today you killed it.
-I have nothing bad to say.
-Thanks very much.
You smashed it hard.
I loved what I saw.
Your talent gets stronger every time.
We know what you are, we see you,
and you're a beast up on the stage.
So, congratulations on that.
Thank you very much.
Nashy...
An incredible voice,
but I feel like, in terms of lyricism,
we're not learning a lot about your style,
or who you are, but you have something.
We'll keep shaping it and perfecting it
and I think you'll find the right path.
Thanks so much, really.
I think that what happened to me
last time, from being nominated
and feeling like it's all gone to shit,
to feeling like
you're on top of the world,
it's like, boom! It hits you like a bucket
of cold water, but I'm happy.
We have nothing more to tell her.
She's still killing it, yeah.
I feel at peace for tonight's performance.
Calm. I have to convince them.
The challenge is to show who I am
and that's what I'm going to do,
so I'm taking it easy.
From Bogotá, Colombia. Mila!
What's up, Miami?
How are you all?
For me, lyrics are very important.
They're my life.
I feel like they define me, and this song
defines me because it's a risk.
But if I wasn't going
against the grain just a little,
I wouldn't be showing you
who Mila really is.
So, let's hit it!
Mila!
Crystal candelabras
"CHAMPAGNE"
Jewelry for decoration
Dose of frivolity
From high society
To not see, to not see
They drink, and drink again
Champagne, champagne
To glamorize guilt
Champagne, champagne
Mouths shut
Glasses of champagne
Everyone wins
Here comes the champagne
I'm not the problem
Here comes the champagne
I didn't see it
It didn't happen
No one wants to do anything
With their mouths closed
I filtered the stare at my back
Indifference is trendy
Convenience is trending
Luxuries and riches
So as not to bear the sorrows
From the streets of danger
The hidden neighborhoods
People who haven't eaten
So much lacking
So much emptiness
To not see, to not see
They drink, and drink again
Champagne, champagne
To glamorize guilt
Champagne, champagne
Mouths shut
Glasses of champagne
Everyone wins
Thank you!
Thank you very much.
"Champagne," by Mila.
Rhythmically, I liked it very much.
I couldn't understand it very well.
You would come away a bit
when you were singing low,
when you should've been
closer to the microphone.
Whatever happens,
always be the Mila that you are.
You get me?
If the world says blue, I say red.
That's something that identifies you,
and I saw it here,
which was tonight's challenge.
So, congratulations.
Thank you so much, Rauw.
Lex.
Mila.
Hi, Lex.
"Hi, Lex."
You know, the...
The level of artistic talent
that we have in this competition
is so high,
and I don't know if you'll get there
before the end of the competition.
You're lacking. I can't say
that I'm a fan of Mila as an artist today.
Thanks, Lex.
Lex still can't stand me,
I don't know what to do.
One screw-up when I was
too far away from the microphone,
so they couldn't hear.
I don't know how bad it will screw me.
From the start I've known what she wants...
What she is as an artist.
She's, like, very social...
Yes, she wants to convey her concept.
-But here you can't...
-But the song itself didn't cut it.
I ended up on thin ice
with my last performance.
So, what I am trying to do is relax,
and let things flow the way they need to.
I think things always go better that way.
From The Dominican Republic, Rmand!
What are my people from Miami saying?
Ooh la la.
My people,
this song is very important to me.
Because it represents my romantic side.
So, this song is called,
"Flight To Mars."
It goes like this. Drop it.
"FLIGHT TO MARS"
Yeah, yeah
Yeah
Baby, your heat
Hey!
Has stayed tattooed on my skin
Yo
If you knew that I
Am dying from desire
To see you again
Yo
In the multitude
Yo
The one who kills me is you
Yo
Baby, I just can't forget you
You're something different
I want to stay between your heartbeats
Yo, yo, yo!
When we go in the bedroom
Don't turn off the light
I want to see every drop
If I make you sweat
I have the jacuzzi ready for you with foam
So tell him I'm the only one
Screwing you
I'm breaking you like a set of instruments
Order what you want
My wallet is full
You're sure that there's no one like you
Okay
With me you use your manners
Baby, I just can't forget you
Bro, this has been the best
performance tonight, for real.
All the judges here know
you're one of the best in the competition.
You have great talent,
and great potential.
You came in focused,
and that's very important for an artist.
To shut everything out around you
when tons of things are going on,
and focus on
what you're going to do on stage.
And you just showed that here.
Congratulations, you killed it tonight.
Thank you, Rauw.
I'll say quickly that today's challenge
was being yourself.
And the cool thing about you is
Rmand isn't tied to one music style.
I loved your song, the performance,
the melody, the falsetto.
Everything you did was super cool.
I honestly don't have
anything bad to tell you.
I just loved it, Rmand.
Thank you.
Thank you, my people.
He knows he killed it.
He's really sure of himself.
He's very confident.
That kid has a very clear vision.
My life has been inspired by heartbreak.
Approximately four months ago
I separated from my partner.
It hurt my heart.
And this is inspired by that story.
What's going on, Miami?
Good evening.
I brought a little reggaeton today.
So I hope you enjoy it.
I know this isn't the time to call
I just want to know where you are
"LAW OF ATTRACTION"
Because people say you've turned a page
But you and I know
There are a couple more
My hand used to be the one touching you
Now you're with another girl
Just because you're lonely
Knowing I didn't know anything
What's up, Miami?!
I'm dying from anxiety
Hey!
To go looking for you
Still knowing I won't find you
You're no longer the same
You really have changed
I can't have you even if I hack
The law of attraction
If we're not meeting, I'll send you pics
So you remember me clearly
I dedicate this song to you from Miami
In a studio my heart once dreamed of
So you see that I remember you
How your hands touched me
That was the best
Now you're not here
I swear I don't have another guy
I'm still loyal to you
Even if it's just a portrait
I'll light this joint
To see if my head can forget you
I'm dying from anxiety
To go looking for you
Still knowing I won't find you
My longing to see you
Always makes me forgive you
I'll be honest.
Of all the performances you've given us,
of all the songs you've given us,
this wasn't my favorite.
I didn't feel the thrill I experienced
with the other performances you've given.
Not just lyrically, but musically,
the performance in this show...
And at this point in the competition,
those choices have a cost.
At the end of the day,
those little choices
can lead to your elimination
and send you home.
I do feel like the structure of the song
wasn't really allowing you
to show off who you are 100%.
It seemed like you were "lost."
I know you weren't, but it felt that way.
So, be more confident
with yourself on stage.
Just that, move side to side.
And just relax.
We will always tell you
these things so you can improve.
Thanks very much.
Bye!
Now I'm really deeply confused, I mean...
She went from being my favorite to being...
Not everybody is happy.
But I feel satisfied
with how the performance went,
and any type of experience, good or bad,
will always teach me more.
And I'll make something better out of it.
This song
will be a song
I'll be able to sing with ease
because it has the genres that I like.
And the coolest part is that today,
I can see that I've learned tons.
And that going through this process
was essential for my career.
If I leave today, I will feel as fulfilled
as I would've if I left in three weeks.
Straight from Hermosillo, Mexico,
here is Mosmo!
Good evening, Miami!
I want to show my influences,
who I am, my sound.
So, this song is called "300 Heartbeats,"
and right now mine is racing, you know.
Drop it, DJ.
From "H."
Three hundred heartbeats
"300 HEARTBEATS"
In my heart
And it dies for you
Three hundred heartbeats
I don't feel alive if you're not here
You know, you've got me committed, woman
I've been drowning in bottles
Since you've been gone.
Now things are changing
I've changed roles
I see you want me
Let me know
You
Hey
You broke my heart
But I'm still here
To me you're perfect
In every way, hey
There's nothing lovelier than your skin
Honey, you look so good
Woah
I don't know why you've got me
Coming and going
I'm willing to do anything
You just come
I want to take you around the world
To give you passion
Woah
If you like
We can do it again
Woah
Three hundred heartbeats
In my heart
And it dies for you
Three hundred heartbeats
I don't feel alive if you're not here
You know you've got me committed, woman
I've been drowning in bottles
Since you've been gone.
Yeah
What I want to know is what you want
to show of yourself with this song.
Since the challenge was
to talk about oneself, right?
Well first, the sound. It's regional.
The guitars and the urban part too.
And I'm a romantic person,
so that's the vibe.
I love it. I love that you did what
you've wanted to since the beginning,
and that you're doing it now,
and congratulations on this song.
-I feel it represents you 100%.
-Wow, thanks.
Mosmo, as you know,
I will always be honest.
I think that the tracks
you're choosing, the style,
is becoming more like that of an artist.
But I'd like to feel a bit more of those
roots from that regional side of yours.
The audience has to feel
not only the lyrics and the track,
but your performance and image too.
These things are very important to me
and what I look for in an artist.
Thank you, everybody.
Thanks, Miami. Thanks, everybody.
I liked the chorus.
But the verses need work.
I think I'm achieving
what I wanted to achieve
which is a style,
an essence, that I identify with.
In terms of lyrics I have to improve.
I need to work.
I'm really keen to get to work.
Although, strictly speaking,
this song isn't about me,
or a personal experience,
I don't really have a private life
because I sing everything I experience.
And that's the point of my lyrics.
And today I want the judges
to appreciate that side of me.
From Río Grande, Puerto Rico,
a round of applause for Gigi Saldaña!
Good evening!
I'm liking this!
This song is called "Cold-blooded."
No one knows what they have
Until they lose it
"COLD-BLOODED"
You look around
But can't solve it
Why so surprised?
I forget too
You called me
I was lost
You were looking for me
I was doing my thing
I don't take you seriously anymore
I'm one of those cold-blooded girls
You called me
I was lost
You were looking for me
I was doing my thing
I don't take you seriously anymore
I'm one of those cold-blooded girls
She's killing it.
Baby, I know that this weather
Is for practicing making babies
I know you want it
I don't
I don't want it anymore
I can forget about everything
Holy Mother
If I leave your side
You'll have a bad time
If I go somewhere else
I'm going to sing
I know you want it
But I have girls now
I have...
You called me
I was lost
You were looking for me
I was doing my thing
I don't take you seriously anymore
I'm one of those cold-blooded girls
You called me
I was lost
Ms. Gigi!
I got a Gigi who felt free.
When you got into the melody,
fusing R&B with dancehall...
This flow that you have
really represents the Caribbean.
You have a very clear vision
and I think this kind of...
with the flow you had today,
you really shined.
Congratulations. Keep killing it, Gigi.
Thank you.
Gigi, I'll be honest.
Since day one,
I said, "You have talent,
but I'm not sure if you're an artist."
I'm looking for an artist.
And there are many artists
in this competition.
There are a lot of people
with a lot of talent,
so talent is not enough.
And today you proved me wrong
with your performance.
So,
keep it up and make it the same next time.
See you. Thank you!
Man, she saved herself.
I would've eliminated her today.
-No, but I get what you were saying.
-Yes.
No, because...
I feel really nervous because
today's challenge is "Be Yourself."
I feel happy with the song I'm performing
and the way I'll be performing it.
So, whatever happens,
I'm happy with what I've achieved.
Let's welcome Eydrey.
Today I've brought you a sad song,
which is what I like to do.
I hope you like it,
it's called "Nothing From You."
The nights and the days go by
"NOTHING FROM YOU"
Life feels eternal
I never would've imagined it like this
Look at me, here
I don't know how many nights without sleep
Forgetting what I suffered
Longing to see you
In front of me here
The mirror laughs at me
It knows I'm a bad liar
I pretend to be strong
And there's nothing left
The words are erased
I'm used to being wrong by now
All of our memories
I threw out the window
And there's nothing left
Now I'm used
To expecting nothing from you
Nothing from you
Nothing from you
Nothing from you
In front of me here
The mirror laughs at me
It knows I'm a bad liar
I pretend to be strong
Eydrey, how are you?
Hello.
-Everything good?
-Happy, yes.
Happy. How did you feel on stage today?
I feel like every time I get on stage
I feel a bit more comfortable.
I'd still like my movements
to feel a bit more natural,
but I feel that little by little
I am getting there.
You're learning, that's good.
Alright, Eydrey,
you have a unique sound.
In this song, the only thing I thought
was when the beat popped,
your voice went up and I think it reached
a pitch that was uncomfortable for you.
You didn't seem very relaxed.
It looked like you had to make
a bit of an effort.
It's cool that you're pushing yourself.
But if you're in studio
and you get a break, tell yourself,
"No, I have to bring it down a notch,"
or, "Let me extend those notes a bit more
and not have such a long chorus."
That was my only note for you tonight.
Thanks, Tainy.
I love that you feel
more confident on stage,
but I think the music
needs a bit more work.
You have to stop being afraid
of your own talent.
You're in a position where,
if you don't risk it,
you could lose this competition.
-Okay. I will try it. I will do it.
-Thank you.
My voice still lacks lots of training
when it comes to, well, moving,
maintaining the note,
breathing, my fitness.
I'm not sure
if I've earned a spot in the next round.
If this is my last show,
that would be sad, but I'll keep working
so that you hear about me in a few years.
For this song's lyrics I took inspiration
from how my life has been.
Performing this song is new for me
since the last two songs
were completely different.
This song was meant to break the mold,
and I hope the judges like it.
What's up, Miami?
Are you good?
Drop it, DJ!
Jump, one, two...!
Life made me a ghetto soldier
"GHETTO SOLDIER"
It turned me into a warrior
Come on! I'm a ghetto soldier, baby
They want to screw me over
And I speed up for you
We're sad kids
But I'm still a rock star
I'm one more warrior
Always remember
It was for you all
Mom said "Give it til it hurts"
"Pray to Jehova"
My grandma said
At school they said I'd achieve nothing
Look where I am
My people, thanks to my little siblings
Who believed in me
Now Dieguito's killing it in Miami
A family waiting for a new hit
That's it
That's my emphasis
I've got so much music stored
I can make 20 records
From handling drugs as a kid
I got addicted
"Giving till it hurts"
A phrase I can relate to
My life was a location without a mic
To tell the truth
I feel like Messi on the bench
A lion waiting for its prey
These fools want to catch me
I'm gonna make noise
Though they wanna turn me down
I'm gonna win a Billboard
And get to number one
For my sister and my mom
You don't know how blessed you are
To give yours a kiss when you wake up
Few will understand
Ghetto soldier, baby
They want to screw me over
And I speed up for you
We're sad kids
But I'm still a rock star
I'm one more warrior
Always remember
For you all
Diego Smith!
Santiago, Chile in the house.
Diego, you have a pretty sick flow,
I like it, my brother.
In fact, I like
how confident you are coming onstage,
how relaxed you are,
how much you enjoy it.
Congratulations, brother,
great night, man.
Great night, buddy.
-What do you think, Tainy?
-Diego.
This is what we wanted to see,
you being yourself tonight,
representing who you are,
where you're from.
I really liked the song, I liked the vibe.
That's it, bro,
congratulations on tonight.
There is one thing I'd recommend.
Always keep this in mind.
You're on stage, there are many emotions.
I know that can fail sometimes.
And articulating is very important, right?
Controlling the airflow, the breath.
Keep these details in mind
for the next performance,
and congratulations, brother.
Exactly, brother.
Thanks, everybody!
Well, thanks.
-That kid kills it.
-I love him.
-He's a sweetheart.
-He kills it hard.
-He's a sweetheart.
-He kills it hard.
He smashed it hard.
These lyrics allowed me
to show a little more of who Diego is,
my heart, what I love, what I do.
And we killed it!
Okay, time for our decision.
The competition is getting harder.
I want to hear what you all think.
Who are we sending back home?
At this stage in the competition,
more than one person should be going home.
These four that we have here, at least,
I think we all agree that tonight,
they're the ones who are on thin ice.
I feel like we have to remind them
that this is a competition
and one bad night
can send you home, so I think...
We were going to put pressure on her.
"No, let's wait and see what she does,
then we'll decide."
We're giving her a pass,
and she knows, "I'm good..."
-"I've done enough."
-Yes.
That's the hard part in this competition.
There are high standards.
Yes. At the end of the day,
we can only give it to one guy.
-That's right.
-Or one girl.
To be clear, we scare her,
she's gone.
She's gone.
No, that's not right.
-She's gone?!
-She stays.
Yeah.
Okay, so...
That's it.
-We scare her, and send this one home.
-We scare her.
-Exactly..
-That's how it is.
Do we all agree?
Tony.
Please bring me the contracts.
-Oh, here comes Mr. Tony.
-Run.
Good evening.
Mila.
Eydrey.
-I knew it.
-Wanda.
-What a surprise.
-Please come with me.
-See you.
-Of course.
Yes, thanks.
We are now
halfway through the competition.
The question is,
which one of you has what it takes
to stay in the competition,
and get signed?
Mila, I respect your mission very much,
your goals and your philosophy
of bringing a message to humanity.
We need people like that, right?
But musically,
I think you could be doing
a much better job.
Okay. Eydrey, personally,
I touched on the chorus before,
I may have sensed you were a bit forced.
I feel like you've grown
with each challenge,
and we've noticed you're getting there,
but we have yet to see
the culmination, or that moment
where we say, "Wow, she found herself."
There are a few elements
where we're considering
giving you another chance,
where we could wait a little longer
to see if we get there.
Wanda.
You've shown us that your talent is here.
And lately, you're around here.
So, as the people who can see
the kind of potential you have,
we have to let you know
how far you can go.
Like I told you at the start,
we're looking for an artist
with a clear message.
Because there are
a lot of people with talent,
but very few with something to say.
And now, what we came for...
Tony, the contracts.
