The Rat Patrol (1966–1968): Season 2, Episode 9 - The Kingdom Come Raid - full transcript

A truck carrying top secret anti aircraft shells is captured by the Germans. The Rat Patrol are tasked with retrieving the vehicle and one of their own also captured by the Germans.

Major, have we heard
anything from Hitchcock?

No, Sergeant, not since he last
reported his position here at Atlas Wadi.

We'd better get going.

Sergeant, were you ever told why
Hitchcock was detached from your outfit?

No, sir, only that his knowledge
in ordinance was needed.

The army's been experimenting
with a new shell that'll throw up

an umbrella of shrapnel
against all low-flying aircraft.

That's what Hitchcock's
group was delivering

to our anti-aircraft
installations.

Should be very
effective against strafing.

And dive-bombing
and precision bombing.

And just about anything
where Jerry has to get in close.

Give us a pretty big edge?

Unless it's fallen
into enemy hands.

Well, we'll find out, sir.

Just try their radio again, huh?

Yes, sir.

Blue Fox calling Red Robin,
Blue Fox calling Red Robin.

Come in, Red Robin,
come in, Red Robin, over.

Blue Fox calling Red Robin,
Blue Fox calling Red Robin.

Come in, Red
Robin, come in, over.

Get another box of
ammo from the truck.

I say we take the jeep
and get out of here, now.

I say get a box of ammo.

You fool! The Major
isn't sending any help.

He doesn't even know
what's happening here.

Move!

Meekin! Get away from that jeep!

Blue Fox, this is
Red Goose, over.

Red Goose, this is
Blue Fox, go ahead.

Sir, we have two people missing:
Hitchcock and Corporal Frank Meekin.

And two pieces of
equipment: a 6-by and a jeep.

What about the fuses?

They must be in
the missing truck, sir.

I'll tell our spotters to
keep their eyes peeled.

And, sir, can you please
send the burial detail?

Roger, out.

You see these jeep tracks?

There's no other
vehicle following them.

Maybe Hitch and
Corporal Meekin got away.

Yeah, let's find out.

That's what did it.

Petrol tank shut up.

What's that?

Let's go!

Meekin, you all right?

Ambush, Germans.

Yes, yes, we saw what was left.

Where's Hitchcock? Hitchcock?

Mark Hitchcock, US Army.

Yeah, didn't you find him?

He's back there.

Blue Fox to Red Goose.
Come in, Red Goose.

Come in, Red Goose.

Blue Fox, this is
Red Goose, over.

Red Goose, recon plane reports
sighting a Jerry reconnaissance unit

with a captured
American supply truck.

Map reference: 890-874.

Repeat map coordinates, over.

Confirming map
coordinates, 890-874, over.

It must be the truck
with the fuses, out.

We're on our way, Major, out.

Maybe they took Hitch along,
show them how to use them.

Yeah, let's go.

They've put up camouflage nets
and bedded down for the night.

Why?

Looks like a recon outfit.

They're probably waiting
for a pickup on the fuses.

Shall we spread a little
alarm and despondency?

Why not?

Get Tully.

Hitch, Hitch.

Hitch.

Tully has Hitch.

You and Meekin watch
him, I'll cover Moffitt.

Easy, Hitch, easy, it's Tully.

Are those test fuses? Yeah.

You drive.

Meekin, back on the truck.

What about the jeeps? Forget
them. They're well hidden.

We're sticking together.

Tully.

Grenade.

Hitch is burning up with fever.

It's all right. We'll wait for
a jeep that'll pass and help.

Come on inside.

How is he? The same.

How much further to the path?

Two, maybe three miles.

See anything?

No.

Jerry must be out
there somewhere.

This is for testing
the fuses. Yeah.

What's the altimeter for?

Well, when a test shell is fired, a
radio signal is picked up on the panel.

Then the altimeter registers whether
or not the fuse has exploded the shell

at its programmed height.

Anybody hit?

It's breaking off.

Must be low on fuel.

You can bet he'll
radio our position.

Shot me.

He shot me.

He shot me, shot me...

What is it, Hitch? Meekin...

He... Meekin... He's delirious.

Maybe he thinks I'm the Kraut
that shot him or something.

Meekin.

Hitch, easy! Easy, Hitch.

Easy, easy.

He shot me and ran in the jeep.

Never did tell us why
you took off without Hitch.

I told you, I thought
he was dead.

But he wasn't, was he?

Wait a minute.

The guy's shot in the head
and you act like it's gospel.

You can see he's not in
his right mind, can't you?

Well, come on, let's get out of here before
the Jerries bust up this stupid party.

What are you doing?

Just thought I'd
spare you for a while.

Thanks, but no.

Get in the back.

We just might make it.

Stop the truck.

You gotta stop the truck.

Why? I'm sick.

Look, Tully, I'm sick.

It's too bad.

I gotta get out!

Let me out.

Don't you understand?

We're gonna blow
up, I set the fuses.

We're gonna go sky-high!

We're gonna what?

I set the fuses for 300 feet, we're
gonna go sky-high, now let me off.

Moffitt, stop the truck!

He set them all right.

Now unset them.

You in the truck, out, out!

Meekin, Meekin!

Throw your weapons away.

They're waiting for the fuses at
Colonel Bachter's command post.

Take him with you.

Stall.

Keep stalling.

Easy, easy.

That truck's gotta be
at the 300-foot level.

Maybe those fuses won't work.

Well, we know the
ruddy fuses work.

How's Hitch?

Over the hump.

Over the hump.
