The Rat Patrol (1966–1968): Season 2, Episode 8 - The Do-Re-Mi Raid - full transcript

During a battle Sgt Troy is captured by the Germans. He immediately begins making plans with other POWs to breakout of prison. At the same time the remaining members of the Rat Patrol plan to raid the prison camp and rescue their Sergent.

The rate it's moving, it should
get there about midnight.

Sarge,

isn't there a better
way to handle this?

There's got to be a better way.

All right, name one.

That settles it. Let's go.

Fire!

Hey, Mick.

Move it.

They're bringing us
a blooming playmate.

Sam Troy. Sergeant.
US Army. One seven...

Let's dispense with
formalities, please, Sergeant.

We aren't exactly strangers
to each other, are we?

Then stop playing
games, Captain.

You know I'm not
gonna tell you anything.

Forgive me for being
curious, Sergeant,

but that canyon is an
ideal terrain for an ambush.

You knew we would be there.

Yet, you ran
right into the trap.

Now, you can't tell me that
was an error in judgment.

Of course not. We thought
it would be fun to get shot at.

More likely you were
on a mission, Sergeant,

important enough
to warrant the risk.

You care to tell us about it?

You'll be leaving for a
prisoner-of-war camp shortly.

In the meantime, the
Commandant has the intention

to persuade you to be
a bit more cooperative.

I'm afraid I've no
authority to stop him.

Now think it over very
carefully, Sergeant.

One more thing!

I'm having this area
very carefully patrolled.

So, don't expect any
of your friends to visit.

Does that influence
your decision?

Speak up!

Sam Troy. Sergeant.

US Army...

You know Troy.

He was going to get himself
captured one way or another.

The convoy's picking up speed.

It's going to get
there before midnight.

Well, we'll be ready
for it when it gets there.

Just hoping Troy'll
be ready for us.

Hello, Roberts, I'm
Sergeant Troy. I...

I'm Henry Perkins.

How did you manage to get
invited to this here resort, Sarge?

I was assigned
to get Roberts out.

What do you mean assigned?

Orders from the top.

You're a star, remember?
A household word, Roberts.

Look, if this is
a gag... No gag.

Look, it goes like this.

The people back
home, they want you out.

I suppose we're just gonna
walk out of the place, huh?

No. We've got help outside.

What about Perkins?

Three of us go.

All right, let's get started.

Hello, Roberts. You have
many admirers in Germany.

As a matter of fact, some of
them are stopping by tonight.

They're very eager to
meet you and hear you sing.

Am I here as a prisoner
or as an entertainer?

We couldn't possibly pay your
price as an entertainer, Roberts.

But as a prisoner, well...

There are always certain
privileges, aren't there?

Thank you.

We will settle
this later, Roberts.

If you are concerned about
cooperating with the enemy,

I am sure you know by now
that it has definite advantages.

All right?

Here's the supply depot.

German convoy will
come in from this angle.

We'll attack from
this direction.

Well, I hope we can pull it off.

All we've got left is one
jeep and a few grenades.

All we have to do is
to create a diversion.

Give Troy time to get
Roberts out, then we'll...

Three is a crowd.

Meaning what?

One of us should stay
behind to cover for the others.

We all go.

One extra man could
ruin it for all three of us.

Maybe he's right, Sarge.

I mean, with this
bad leg and all,

I'd just slow you
down, wouldn't I?

There you are, Roberts.

Isn't that what you
wanted to hear? Nope.

I want you to take Perkins.

I'm staying right here.

My orders are to break you out.

Maybe I like it here.

It's not exactly paradise,

but it's a lot better
than a foxhole.

There are a few million people
burning candles for you, Roberts.

They want you back.

Doesn't that make
any difference?

They want me back where?

On a crummy desert picking
shrapnel out of my gut?

No, thanks.

No. I'll just sit this war out
in a nice, cozy prison camp.

Hey! Blimey, here they come.

The blooming headbusters.

You know who they
are? They're persuaders.

Professional bone twisters.

Yeah. They had a little
go at Mick last night.

Right, Mickey?

Troy, you gotta get
Perkins out of here.

Once they start
working him over...

Why? What do you have they want?

He was delivering a
document to Allied headquarters

when the Jerries showed up.

I buried the blooming thing
before they grabbed us.

Even Mick don't
know where it is.

They'll break him, Troy.

They can break anyone.

Anyone.

How'd they know he had it?

I believe, Sergeant, these belong
to one of your men, don't they?

Would you like to have them?

How did it happen?

Sooner or later, the war
reaches all of us, Sergeant.

One way or another, we're
all vulnerable, aren't we?

Perkins,

the Commandant has some guests

who'd very much
like to speak with you.

Come along.

Move it!

Not a thing, Mick.

I didn't tell them
a blooming thing.

For the love of heaven, Troy,

get him out of here
before they try again.

You said they
could break anyone.

When did they
break you, Roberts?

Last night? What'd
you tell them?

What did you tell them?

I tried not to! I
swear, I really tried!

What did you tell them?

That Perkins knows where
the document is hidden.

Good.

We'll get there about the
same time as the convoy.

Here, take a look.

If these things weren't so heavy,
I could use them for glasses.

We'll hit them just
outside the compound.

Then go in for the pick-up.

It's after 11:00.
Let's get going.

Higher. I can't.

Roberts!

Cover me. Right.

All right, Roberts. Out.

Troy.

All right, Troy. Move.

You're copping out on
a lot of people, Roberts.

Why?

Take Perkins and go.

Please. Before I change my mind.
