The Outpost (2018–…): Season 4, Episode 13 - Nothing Lasts Forever - full transcript

Talon and her friends battle against the gods. Janzo, Wren and Munt fight to save the Kahvi. A ruler is crowned.

Previously on The Outpost...

Put your hand in the fire.

Good boy.

You must save them.

We don't have the means of reviving
even one more of your people

let alone thousands.

If they aren't woken soon,
they will all die like this.

The Six are on their way here.

Are you in possession
of the Ahl-Kora blades?

The Ahl-Kora blades?

They were supposed to be passed
from generation to generation.

My mother's blade.

Only these weapons can be used to separate
the souls of my kind into kinj form.

Each of the Seven are physically unable

to act against
the collective will of the group

so I had humans use the Ahl-Kora blades
to put the others to rest.

The Six must be sent to their deaths,
by you.

You spent this whole time searching
for a world deadly enough to kill the Six...

and now I'm going to have to be the one

- to actually send them there.
- Yes.

- I want to know why.
- I've already told you.

- I can't act against the other six.
- Well, can you at least try?

Can you not pull together
enough willpower to defy them?

It's not about willpower.

It's about who we are as a species.

We're all connected, all seven.
One mind, one purpose.

To propagate by consuming other worlds.

- And you're betraying that purpose?
- Yes.

My betrayal is the only way to end
this cycle of destruction.

Because of
the interconnectedness of the Seven

I cannot be the one to physically do it.

That is why you need to prepare
for what is coming.

The void.

A place more dark and cold
than you can ever imagine.

Stop! Your hand would freeze
before you even realise it.

Then why are you showing me?

You have to be able
to see the void in your mind.

That's where you have to send them.

And how am I going to do that?

- You're the one with the kinj.
- You'll have to take it back.

- That means I'd have...
- Kill me...

with the Ahl-Kora blade.

There has to be another way.

Can you not just pass it to me
like I did to you?

You were able to pass the kinj willingly
because it didn't belong to you.

The only way to take it from one of us
is to put us down with the Ahl-Kora.

I don't want to kill you.

I appreciate that,
but there is no other way, Talon.

We have to give up
something good for something better.

You will lose me,
but you will save your world.

Everyone you love.

One life for many.

Tell me what to do.

I mean, well, it's not the worst plan
we've ever pulled off, right?

I'm not so sure.

All six of them together,
they're too powerful.

And I don't know if I can do it alone.

Alone?

You're not alone.
I'll be there.

- And Zed and Janzo and Wren, we'll all be...
- I know. I am sorry.

What I mean is that...

I'm the one who has to somehow open
this portal to this frozen void place.

- I mean, what if I can't do it?
- You can do it.

I know you can.

And I will do whatever it takes
to help you through this.

- Don't say that.
- Say what?

That you'll do whatever it takes.

I've lost everyone I love.

Now, we are getting married.

We both have to survive this thing, right?

You're not getting out of it that easily.

That's not funny.

After everything that we've survived,
this cannot be the end of us.

- Janzo, would you please hurry up?
- This thing is heavier than it looks.

The plan's unacceptable anyway.

We should be saving the Kahvi.

If there's any preparations to be made,
it should be down there, not up here.

Oh, please focus, Janzo!

You can let go now.

- See? Wasn't that bloody hard, was it?
- Idiot!

Well done, Janzo.

Wren, Janzo, there you are.
When can we save the Kahvi?

Marvyn. Um...

We seem to have hit
a bit of a roadblock with that.

"Roadblock"?
What does that mean?

Roadblock, when someone puts a cart
or a barrier across a roadway...

It's not important.
It's a form of expression.

It means when something's
in our way in regards to a plan.

- What is in our way?
- Has anyone seen Aster?

Yes, um, our roadblock is up there

on the wall, just mumbling to himself.

A roadblock?

Aster doesn't seem to care
in the least about the Kahvi.

They are living, breathing,
intelligent and caring people.

I mean, just look at him, Talon.
He's practically the same species as Aster

if not pretty damn close.

Aster sees them as soldiers to the Masters

which in his mind makes them
a danger to all of us.

I'm not a danger to you.

But the rest of the Kahvi could be.

- You could teach them, like you did me.
- Mm-hmm.

How many people did you hurt or almost kill
before you learned?

Alright, we can't risk that happening
with thousands of them.

But this could be different, Talon.

This time, they'll be learning from
one of their own, from Marvyn.

It's too big of a risk.

We could be unleashing
an army onto all our people.

The Kahvi are just as much people
as humans and Blackbloods.

If we are so cowardly as to let them die,
then why are we worth saving?

Can you sense them coming?

Yes. They'll be here soon.

Are you ready?

How do you know I'll be able
to open the portal to the void?

My kinj, it's part of me.
It has my memories.

Just picture it in your mind
and it should come to you.

- But what if it doesn't work?
- It has to.

Why don't you want to save the Kahvi?

They're just as much your people as we are.

Because there's no telling
what they might do to your world.

Isn't that true for any other species?

He's one of the Masters.

So...

you revived one of them, then.
Has he not killed anyone?

Surely he must have tried.

- We're teaching him how to choose.
- I see.

So you would risk your own people,
your own children, for these...

- inferior creatures.
- The Kahvi are not inferior.

It is only the Masters who enforced us
to be cruel to others.

But I do not serve you anymore,
and I choose not to hurt anyone...

except perhaps the Masters.

Remarkable. But still...

to revive the Kahvi requires
all seven, including myself

united together around the Skevikor altar.

That is exactly what Vorta wants.

- We'd play right into her hands.
- But it is possible?

Possible? Maybe.

Successful? Unlikely.

Dangerous? Very.

- You need me to expel the Six.
- Yes.

Then I don't care
how dangerous it would be.

I'm not doing any plan
unless it involves saving the Kahvi.

You remind me of someone that died
a thousand years before you were born.

Someone with your name.

You are just like her.

Is there someone in that cave
you care about?

I care about them all.
They are my people.

But I care most about my lokma, my...

- Daughter.
- ...daughter, who I love very much.

We should save her then, shouldn't we?

Thank you.

When the hands of the Seven are
all in their place, the channel is open.

Janya will pass the life
she's been collecting down into the Kahvi.

And as soon as that's done,
the Kahvi will be saved?

From death, not from enslavement.

Even before Janya finishes
delivering the life force

Vorta will send her kinj into their brains
to control the Kahvi.

There'll be no time in between.

So we need to let Janya finish, but stop them
before Vorta's kinjes reach them.

We will stop them at just the right moment.

Your confidence is misplaced.
There are six of them.

Together, the Six are twice as powerful
as they are when they're apart.

How many of you are even real warriors?

Certainly not these two.

Then there must be a better way.
One that's less risky.

- I'm open to suggestion.
- No, we can do this.

Alright, we have the element of surprise.

If that's all you have, then you'll need
to move fast to send them into the void.

All of them.

If even one remains,
there is still danger.

Is there even a chance
this plan will work?

To be perfectly honest with you...

I think it's more likely
that you will all die today.

Not exactly
the encouragement we were looking for.

We're out of time. They come.

Are you ready?

Do I really have a choice?

Let's go.

It looks abandoned.

Aster is there.

He's all that matters now.

I'm ready to make Aster pay.

There will be time for revenge

but first, we need him

to revive our army.

We meet again, Betrayer.

What kind of being betrays his own kind?

I did what I thought was right.
We do not need this world.

There are other worlds,
green and lush like this one

but without
sentient creatures inhabiting them.

I will take us to one of them.

Is that so?

Show us.

I'll show you after we revive the Kahvi

but you must agree not to hurt
the people of this world.

- Then I will take us there.
- Liar.

You think you can betray us again.

- It doesn't have to come to this.
- Enough.

Kneel before us.

Kneel.

Now, lead us to the Skevikor.

This is a terrible plan, Talon.

It'll never work.

- You're the one who chose to stay.
- Alright.

Alright, what am I supposed to do?

You'll have to pull this lever.

Alright, the doors will close slowly.

You'll have time to smash the switch
and break it, trapping everyone inside.

- How do I know when?
- You wait and you listen.

- And Luna, if anything goes wrong...
- How do I know if it goes wrong?

You'll know.

And if it does,
you pull this switch and break it.

And you need to get out of here, OK?
Run as far away as you can and don't stop.

- But I can't leave you down there.
- You can, Luna.

Alright, you have to.

Aren't you tired of living forever?

- Weary of the endless suffering?
- You need to hide until they pass.

The pitiful structures
these humans live in.

Their lives are so short,
and yet they subsist like animals.

How could you have fallen
for one of their kind?

Humans live a life full of passion and hope.

Janya.

- It's working.
- Is that a good thing?

I'm sorry.

She has the Asterkinj!

Janya, heal Aster.

Kill the girl and send him back.

Haven't you learned yet?
We are invincible.

Oi!

You won't be resurrecting anyone else.

That was for Nedra.

Where have you sent them?

The same place I'm sending you.

Marvyn!

Marvyn?

Garret, Golu's got control of Zed!

At least he can only control
one of us with Zed's kinj.

Now, why would you think that?

This is the end, I'm afraid.

Bring her to me.

Stop!

Garret, it's me. You love me.

It all went wrong.

We didn't get them all.

We have to close it.

Watch out!

Luna!

Luna, you're burnt.

Just my arm.
But I think I have some broken ribs.

Let's get you out of here.

When all hell broke loose, you should have
sealed that door like I told you.

I couldn't let you die.

I owe you my life.

We've switched places, eh?

Did you kill any of them?
How many left?

I got rid of two of them,
but now they have Garret and Zed.

I don't even know
what's become of the others.

Ready?

Lay down.

I can still help.
I just need a few moments.

I can still help.

Shh.

Just stay here and be quiet.

Marvyn?

It's alright.

It's alright, Marvyn. It's alright.

Marvyn? Marvyn, no!

Look, you don't have to follow
the Masters' command.

I have my Naviaspore.

The Masters order us to kill these humans.

- Wren, what do we do?
- We run. Run!

Ooh! Sorry, Marvyn.

Oh!

- Run! I will kill you.
- Well, fight it!

I don't want to hurt you.

I don't have a choice but to kill you.

Hold her there. That's far enough.

You probably never thought your friends
would be the ones to end your life.

- Time to die.
- Yes, it is.

Do you think I'll step into it?
Kill her.

- Good to have you back.
- What about Janzo and Wren?

I don't know if they made it
out of the underground alive.

Well, how many of the gods are left?

- Three.
- And three of us.

I like those odds.

I need my sword.

They've stopped.

- Maybe they gave up.
- One can only hope.

- Janzo. Janzo.
- Hmm?

Janzo, they're climbing up the walls!

Munt!

There are too many of them!

Right...

- We need to lock them down there!
- How?

- The keys.
- Genius!

- Oh, Janzo.
- Yeah?

You and I seem to have done
quite a number on the door.

It's completely destroyed.

Do you see a key?

Yeah. Yes, here it is.

- Turn it.
- Into what, Munt? Thin air?

Maybe the keyhole's still intact.
Look for the keyhole.

Here!

Give it to me.

- It's not working.
- They're coming.

Quick, let's go up the ladder to the exit.
Come on.

No, but that will just show
the way out to everyone else.

We don't have a choice. Come on!

Stop!

Where's Marvyn?

- 3-1-3! He means 3-1-3.
- Yes, I mean 3-1-3.

None of you are allowed to hurt us unless
3-1-3 says it's alright to do so, right?

Yes, 3-1-3 is your leader.

You have to wait for his orders,
otherwise he will be very, very angry.

I should have killed you
when I first had the chance.

- You probably should have.
- Too late now.

Without the Seven, you've already lost.

Is that what Aster told you?

That killing only some of us
was all it would take?

They don't know.

Know what?

As long as one of us remains

we have ways of replacing
our lost brothers and sisters.

We are forever.

Hey!

Nothing lasts forever.

You owe me a sword.

3-1-3's orders were to kill you.

- Alright, now, stay back.
- Stop!

Marvyn!

The Masters are gone.

They are?

These are my friends.
They are the ones who set you free.

- It worked.
- It worked.

But what will we do without masters?

Who do we serve?

We serve ourselves.
We will be our own masters.

We will choose for ourselves
what to do and what to be.

Stop it.

- Are you unhurt?
- Yes.

- Well, I got on the neck a little bit.
- Thank you, Marvyn.

Are you alright?

Are they gone?
Did you do it?

We did it. All of us.

And I'm still alive, as promised.

Yes, you are.

Which means
that you're still on the hook to marry me.

He doesn't deserve her.

Actually, I think maybe he does.

Whatever. I'm in a lot of pain.

I need another drink.

Are you even old enough to drink?

I'm old enough to beat you at Octor.

When Aster told me
I had to take back his kinj

I thought it was just
until the Six were defeated.

That I'd return his kinj
and he would wake again.

But he made me promise not to.

He told me that every last one of the Seven
had to be destroyed.

Every last one.

We stand at the threshold

as we bid farewell to our first ancestor

as he goes before us to the other shore.

Even though he's gone...

he'll always be with me.

Goodbye, Aster.

May you finally rest in peace.

It's the least you deserve.

You made it!

Aren't they beautiful?

- Warlita.
- Warlita?

She looks nice.

Best of luck.

Where could she be?

- It's not like her.
- It's exactly like her, Garret.

Patience, Garret. She'll be here.

Just give her some more time.

- Alright, I'm going to go find her.
- Uh-uh, you're not going anywhere.

I'll go.

You just... take some deep breaths
and pace yourself.

You've got the rest of your life
to worry about what Talon's up to.

I wish you were here, Gwynn.

I saved your realm again.
It wasn't nearly as fun without you.

Looks like I'm ending up with Garret.

- I hope you don't mind.
- She wouldn't mind.

She'd be happy for you.

Everyone's waiting.

Come on, you're torturing the man now.

As much as you know I enjoy that,
I think your time is up.

I'm ready, I think.

Just... give me a moment.

I bind you together
to face life and death as one body

till the sun and the stars
fall from the heavens.

Do you take each other freely,
for all eternity?

- Men like you underestimate me.
- You know this woman?

- You belong to her.
- Things aren't as they appear.

What the hell are you?

- Then I'm going to kill you.
- No, you're not.

- I prefer you alive.
- Since when?

You're the only person
that I can trust to kill me.

I thought you were dead.

Filthy Blackblood!

You saved me
when you could have easily killed me.

- I've missed you.
- I know.

I'm just grateful to see you alive.

Thank you for the compliment
if it wasn't such crap.

Do you want me
to take both of them?

The only person
who can take the crown is you.

Will you marry me?

I can't believe
you're asking me this right now.

I feel like all we ever do
is say goodbye these days.

Please come back to me.

- I was afraid you wouldn't be happy to see me.
- I could never stay mad at you.

I love you, Garret.

Do you take each other for all eternity?

Yes.

Yes.

Munt, here.

I think this is
the second-best day of my life.

Of your life?

The only person that I get to call
a true best friend just got married.

Granted, to a bloody bumbling baboon,
but if that's what makes you happy

I'm happy.

And why the second-best day?

Oh, well...

The first-best day is
when Wren told me that she was pregnant.

But this comes a close second,
don't tell anyone.

Actually, maybe this comes a close third
because, well, the second has to be

when she first told me that she loved me.

Just listen to me rambling on.

Talon...

you look so beautiful and happy.

It just fills my heart
more than you'll ever know.

Oh!

Get up, silly. You're king.

Now, I don't pretend
I'm as wise as Queen Rosmund...

but whether you're Blackblood,
human or Kahvi...

we are all one people.

And I swear as long as I live,
I will serve all people of this realm.

I will be your queen...

if this is what you all want.

Long live the Queen!

Long live the Queen! Long live the Queen!

And long live King Garret!

Long live King Garret!
Long live King Garret!
