The Mole (2022–…): Season 1, Episode 5 - Episode #1.5 - full transcript

[Alex] Let's talk about the bank heist.

Gold team.

If you had boosted ten gold nuggets,
you would have $10,000 in the prize pot.

But unfortunately, you didn't.

It sort of seems like crime
has not paid off for you guys this time.

Cash team, your mission
was to enter the vault

and grab 10,000 American dollars
worth of cash.

Not a dollar more and not a dollar less.

We're feeling pretty confident we got it.

We got the ten grand exactly.

I want to say we have it in the bag.

But I mean, there's always room
for sabotage, so…

- [Alex] You wanna know how much you stole?
- Yes, please.

In these bags is the equivalent of…

I'm pretty nervous.
I'm way less at peace than I normally am.

…ten thousand…

Six hundred seventy-eight dollars
and 50 cents.

[exhales]

678.

You guys were off by almost $700.

I haven't told anyone this yet,
not even Pranav,

who is my number one ally.

But Jacob tried to sabotage
right in front of me.

Wow.

Please, don't mess it up.

What he was doing was improperly counting
to throw the dollar amount off.

I'm just gonna recount.

Money has been lost,
but in this game, knowledge is power.

Yeah, I think I'm definitely close
to finding the Mole.

If not, maybe I already found it.

Your prize pot still remains at $3,500.

Bad day for most of you.

But a good day for the Mole.

Finish your drinks, clean up,

and think hard about
the information you've gathered.

'Cause when I see you next,
there will be a quiz.

And for one of you,

you are going home.

It's all too familiar.

So it seems like the stakes
are even higher this elimination.

The closer you are to finding the Mole,
the longer you get to stay,

and we're already almost halfway through.

[tense music playing]

[William] Kesi continuously puts herself
in a position in which

she can actively watch other people fail
and not try and help them at all.

I need to get close to her to figure out
if my assumptions are right about her.

At this point, I hope she is the Mole.

Not positive she is.

Hello, guys.

It's that time again.

You know the drill. You will be asked
to take a quiz with 20 questions

about who you believe to be the Mole.

The person with the most
wrong answers will be eliminated.

Immediately.

All you need to do is trust yourselves,

your observations, and your instincts.

That time has come.

Let the quiz begin.

[Pranav] I'm feeling nervous.

There was so much Mole-ish behavior
that I feel the uncertainty in the room.

It's tense.

I'm definitely suspicious of Sandy

purposely throwing the mission
in terms of counting cash.

[Sandy] That one's done.

[Pranav]
Each of those notes was for 500,000.

[Sandy] Wait. 500,000?

- No. 50,000.
- Oh.

She's someone
that I didn't suspect before,

and she's sort of creeping up
on my list of suspects.

[Sandy] I know for sure
that somebody sabotaged,

and I feel like that was Pranav.

He's the one that sees
the conversion rates for American dollars.

It has to be precise.

It can't be a dollar more
or a dollar less.

Pranav is on my suspicious list.

[Greg] For me, you know, the spotlight
really is on Kesi figuring out

the secret to opening the lock boxes.

Gotta be a name that means stuff
or we'll find trash.

[Greg] She needs to have a system.
We need to target the correct names.

We might as well keep trying, no?

[Greg] She's already at the top
of my list, so this kind of confirms it.

[William] I believe
I could've found El Dorado

on a three-page sheet.

As I choose my answers,

I often times break them down
into about three players.

And right now,
Kesi is the highest on my list.

[Avori]
My strategy is to do majority rule,

and then dice up the questions

between a few people
who I think are suspicious.

But when it gets down to
the last question, "Who is the Mole?"

My pride wants to be right,

which is why
I think I've stuck with Jacob.

All of the evidence is there.

[Alex] All right, guys.

The results of the quiz have been tallied.

As always,
when I send through the results,

your screen will light up.

If it is green, that means you are safe

and you stay in the game.

If it is red, that means
you have been eliminated,

and you must leave the game immediately.

I will enter your names
in no particular order.

The first…

Is Avori.

[phone chimes]

Whoo!

Next will be Kesi.

[Greg] I am frozen.

If she gets a red screen,

that means one of
the other eight players is the Mole.

[phone chimes]

[Greg] I am so relieved.

I am on the right track.

Next up, Sandy.

I'm gonna enter your name.

[phone chimes]

[all gasp]

Nobody wants to see that.

And you can't even, like, say goodbye.

It's just kind of red screen
and out the door.

[Pranav] I'm feeling more uneasy
than I probably ever have.

I guessed wrong.

What are you feeling right now?

I mean, it sucks, but I made it this far.
I'm proud of myself.

I'm gonna walk out with my head high.

That was miserable. That was hard.

My strategy's sort of to spread my answers
across people that I'm suspicious of

because someone will focus
on one person and be wrong about it.

Um, but I'm super relieved
that I'm in the game.

Uh-oh. [Sniffles]

It's not fun leaving,
but it's all part of it.

And I grew, I enjoyed the experience,
and I couldn't have asked for more.

I'm definitely gonna miss her.
We actually were pretty close.

Pranav and I tell each other everything,

but the knowledge that I had about Jacob,

that's something
I'm not gonna tell anyone.

Safe travels.

[Avori] At the end of the day,
you want to win.

So, you're friends,
but inside the board game, you're enemies.

[Alex] As the race
to find the Mole gathers steam,

we're heading to the rural town of Gympie,

deep in the Mary Valley.

We're definitely not
in the outback anymore.

It's definitely greener out here.

This is so pretty.

[Alex] With the prize pot
at an all-time low,

the players are now focused
on banking cash,

especially because the Mole,
whoever that is,

will be working against them.

The last mission was at night.
Maybe we have better luck in the morning.

- Right?
- Let's hope so.

[Jacob] A lot of the other players
are letting their guard down.

We need to win this, y'all.

We need to become
more organized as a unit.

[Jacob] Everybody has a tell.

You just have to pay
close enough attention to determine it.

And Joi's strategy, she's always lying.

How much do you think
will be up for grabs in this mission?

- 25,000.
- 25,000.

Twenty-five... That'd be nice.

There's steam up ahead, you see that?

- [Greg] Wow.
- [Kesi] Look at you.

[Greg] Full steam ahead, Will.

Maybe it's like a Great Train Robbery.

- We're not good at robbery.
- We won't be thieves.

We're not good at anything.

[Pranav] The bright side of Sandy
getting eliminated for my game is that

I get to rule her out as a Mole candidate.

- Oh, look at the steam engine over there.
- [William] Oh my God.

[Pranav] Wow.

[train whistle blowing]

- [Jacob] Cool.
- [Joi] A real steam train.

- You ready for our next adventure?
- Yes!

- Let's win some money!
- Now I'm excited.

- [Jacob] Let's go.
- [William] Let's do it.

[Pranav] One of the eight players
remaining is the Mole.

It's up to you
to be that human lie detector

and figure out
whether they're lying to you.

[Kesi] Oh my gosh. This is so cool.
It's like stepping back in time.

Choo choo!

Hi!

Greetings, fellow travelers.

This is one of the historic mail trains
of the Mary Valley,

an incredible coal-fired beast.

They don't make 'em
like they used to, guys.

Which brings me to the point.

Your next mission…

Is a mail run.

Hell yeah.

There's gotta be a catch.
I know some ish is about to go down.

Mail is information.

And information, as you know, is valuable.

Historically, Gympie has been
a vital mail hub for this entire region.

First, it was carried on foot,
then by these extraordinary trains,

and today it is delivered by car.

Each comes with its own challenges,

which is exactly
what you're about to find out.

Now, the first thing
you're gonna need to do

is divide yourselves up into three groups.

One team will travel by foot.

Your challenge
will be a test of endurance.

One team will gather the mail by rail,

a task that requires nerves of steel.

And one team will gather the mail by car.

For you, this will be
all about navigation.

[Jacob] Not a big fan of trains.

But being a firefighter,
I drive for a living. It's what I do.

I have to be able to drive fast.

I'll take this group.

My plan is to just see where I fall

and that kind of reveals
how people see me in this competition.

But secretly,
I really want to go on the train.

[Kelly] Starting at different points,

each team will have 90 minutes
to collect three parcels

before heading north
to deliver them to Dagun Station.

But there's a twist.

Car team and foot team,

you must deliver the mail
before the train arrives.

Otherwise, it doesn't count.

In other words,

you must beat the train.

Got it?

If you are successful,

you can add $18,000 to the pot.

A much-needed $18,000, may I add.

Because your pot stands at $3,500.

[Joi] We need $18,000 so badly.

Show me the money.

[Alex] Discuss who you want in what group.

Remember, foot, car, rail.

All right, guys. We need a group
of three, three, and two.

Group of two would be best in a car
since they have a car.

[Casey] I think that's a good idea.

Who's comfortable driving?
You like driving.

I don't mind.

[William]
So who'd you wanna take with you to help?

Where do you wanna be?

The car.

Probably will be a bit of navigation,
comfortable doing that.

[Jacob]
Okay. Joi and myself, we're in the car.

I was glad I was getting paired with Joi.

Because she's a pilot,
she deals with a lot of navigation.

But with what I've observed from her,

Joi's history with maps
is not the greatest in this game.

- [woman] Y'all wanna keep going this way?
- Yeah, let's go this way.

[Osei] Think we should go right a bit?

- Joi. To the right.
- [Joi] Oh, sorry.

It's okay.

[Jacob] And if she's actually the Mole,
I'm pretty excited to see it.

That's why I'm keeping her close.
It's all part of the game.

I don't know how the mission
will play out, but sounds like

runners will have to do
a lot of the legwork.

I've been trying to do
something active for some time.

[William] I'll go with Pranav.
I know he's got good cardio.

And then, you wanna go running?

Whatever you want me to do, I'll do.

- [Joi] Are you a good runner?
- Yeah.

[William] Me, Pranav, Avori, running.

[Pranav] You definitely can't really trust
anyone in this game.

Avori's someone I'm really close to,

and I know for a fact
that I fully can't trust her either.

People can misinform you.
People can try to lead you astray.

And that's happened in this game.

- [Dom] Come on! Let's go, Avori!
- This is horrid.

- [Dom] Who had the last oxygen tank?
- I did.

- You dropped it back there?
- Yeah.

[Sandy] She ditched it?

[Pranav] She's always been a dark horse
for me. She remains a dark horse.

But so far from what I've seen,

the information that she gives me
is reliable.

Let's go you and Jacob in the car,
and then you three on the train?

- I'm fine with that.
- You comfortable?

- Is everyone good?
- Yes!

Are these the groups?
Let's go. Let's review who's in... Okay.

Over here, we have, on foot,
Will, Pranav, and Avori.

We have to outrun the train.

[Alex] In the train group,
we have Greg, Kesi, and Casey.

[mimics train whistle]

[Alex]
Car group is gonna be Jacob and Joi.

- Yeah.
- We got this.

[Alex] Now, head to your starting points.

The mission will begin
when you hear the train whistle blow.

Good luck.

- Let's get it.
- Let's go.

[Casey] The train is ours!

[Joi] Let's go.

[Kesi] Let's do this.

- [William] You ready?
- [Avori] Yeah.

[whistling]

- Start.
- [engine starts]

- All right, you ready?
- Let's go.

- [Greg] Oh my God. We're going.
- [laughs]

[Kesi, laughing] Let's go.

Oh my God.

Train team!

[Alex] Train team, your cash packages
are worth two grand each.

They are in three mailbags
hanging by the side of the track.

The challenge you face is collecting them.

[Greg] Here are the sticks.
So let's get one person in the front.

- You guys mind if I take the lead on this?
- [Kesi] All right.

[Alex] Train is moving at speed
and mailbags are heavy,

and you have one chance
and one chance only

to haul them on board.

I'm gonna take the back one.
You stay here, okay? Whoo!

[Casey] All right.

[Greg] You want to look out?

- [Casey] I'll go to the front.
- Yeah.

I'm gonna take the first shot
at grabbing the mail with my hook.

Casey will be in the front as the lookout,

and Kesi will be backup behind me.

I'm so nervous.

Holy crap.

Who's moving that?

- Here it comes!
- You see something?

[Casey] Greg! Greg, it's here!

Greg!

Okay, girl.

You got this.

Oh my God.

[screams]

[Greg] Oh, shit.

- Oh, shit.
- [Kesi] You got it, Greg!

[bell rings]

[Kesi cheers]

Oh, hell yeah!

[screams excitedly]

[Kesi] So crazy!

We got one!

[Greg] I feel really good
about our group right now.

I'm so proud of myself.

You wanna do the next one?
Want me to do backup?

No worries. Yeah. If you wanna do backup,
that's perfectly fine.

[Greg] Kesi's a team player in that
she'll go where the group tells her to go,

but once she's there,
she pretty much drops the ball.

So I'm gonna sit back
and let her do her thing.

Look and she's gonna wave
when she sees it.

Okay.

[Greg] I'm on the lookout
for any slip-ups,

'cause you need to be on your toes
to gather your data and prep for the quiz.

Oh my God.

If Kesi is the Mole,
there's gotta be some kind of sabotage.

This is not the time to sight-see.

[William] Mind if I borrow a horse?

Hey, we're holding a fantastic pace.
We sit right here, we'll be fine.

[Avori] Got you.

[William] Look where we are.
It's our first turn.

- [Pranav] What's the time, Avori?
- 11:40.

11:40. One down. We might be coming up
on the first property.

Okay.

[Alex] Foot team, this will be
a real test of endurance.

So your three packages
are the most valuable.

They are worth three grand each.

They'll be on remote properties
along the path to Dagun Station,

and collecting them will be the easy part.

- [Pranav] There it is.
- [William] You're a superstar!

It has to be addressed to Dagun Station.

That's one. Let's go.

[Alex] Delivering them to your destination
which is seven miles away,

before the train arrives,

that is a true test.

[William] Keep it up, Avori.

[Pranav] Try to use us for pace.
You got to run faster.

[Avori] I can't.

Into that second leg, we've only covered,
like, a sixth of the distance we need.

The pace is quite fast.

- Come on, Avori.
- [William] Come on, girl.

[Pranav] Will, slow down.
Avori's falling behind.

[Avori] Guys, can we take a sec?

[Pranav] It's close to seven miles,

and we're talking about 90 minutes,
so that tells you

maybe you have to average
about ten minutes a mile

because you want to give yourself
some time at each of those properties.

If we keep running on the flats and lows
and walk up the hills,

we'll be in good shape.

- All right.
- We have a good opportunity here.

- [William] Cool.
- [Avori] This is impossible.

[William] It's not. Come on.
Get that out of your head.

[Pranav] Avori, um, I think that
she's evolving in the sense that

she is making strategic moves in missions
to maybe draw suspicion on herself.

[William] Keep ahead of me.
How about you set the pace?

- Just feeling a bit sick.
- You're good.

[Pranav] We've only gone 1.5 miles.

[William] We're gonna get the jog back on.

[Avori] I can't do that.

[Pranav] I'm going to give her
the benefit of the doubt,

but at the same time,

it's hard to believe that
someone can be so tired.

Avori, if this is you acting out,
now is not the time.

Soon as we're up this hill, we'll have
to jog for at least ten minutes.

If we walk, we're not making it.

[Joi] Jacob, we got this.

- [Jacob] We got this.
- [Joi] Let's get 'er done.

[Jacob] I am speed.

- So we just have to beat the train.
- [Joi] Yep.

[Jacob] Oh, I was born to drive.

- [Joi] My adrenaline is going.
- Mine too.

So my eyes are peeled for
a side road called Happy Valley Road.

[Jacob] It's gonna be easy to miss.

[Alex] Car team, you may have the wheels,

but your packages
are the most difficult to find.

[Jacob] Man, we're deep in the bush.

[Alex] Each is worth $1,000,

and they are located
in mailboxes marked on your map.

- There's a landmark on that map, right?
- [Joi] Yes.

- [Jacob] A camper?
- [Joi] A camper.

[Alex] But keep in mind,
they are not easy to spot.

So navigate carefully
if you want to collect them all

in time to beat the train.

This one shouldn't be too hard to find.

Gotta get the country folk
their mail call.

[Joi] It's a little past the camper,

but before we get
to Creek Crossing Number 11.

[Jacob] Okay.

- Just a little past the camper?
- Yes.

From the starting point?

- Right.
- Okay.

Here's a camper.
That wouldn't be it, would it?

[Joi] I don't see any turns.

[Jacob] That's a...
Isn't that a...? That's a turn.

[Joi] Yeah, just stay on this road.

Okay. It must have just been
a coincidence, hopefully.

[Jacob] We just follow the map.
I'm hoping it's that simple.

It's never that simple, though.

This is Creek Crossing 11.
Do we go over it?

[Joi] No, we're not supposed
to pass Creek Crossing.

Did we just miss it?

- [Jacob] We missed it.
- [Joi] Oh gosh.

Let's take a breather.

[Joi sighs]

It was a horrible, horrible
start to our mission.

I think it's over by the camper.
You wanna go back and try?

- [Jacob] It's gotta be.
- [Joi] Yeah.

There's gotta be a pull-off or something.

[Jacob] Shit, shit, shit.

Yep.

[Jacob] Once again in the game,
Joi has messed up with a map.

This is not what I wanted to do.

Yeah, it does seem suspicious
when you look at it, 100%.

I think we're almost back
to the starting point.

[train whistle]

[Greg] The smoke is black now.

Is that a bad omen?

[Greg] I'm getting Casey to wave.

- You see it?
- Yeah, I see it.

I'm on cleanup.

Kesi's in the first veranda,
I'm in the second veranda,

and we're waiting
for the next bag of mail.

2,000 bucks.

So crazy! Oh my God.

Kesi has long arms, a strong core.

This should be easy for her.

[Greg] Here it is! It's coming!

- [Casey] Yeah, I see it, I see it!
- [Greg] It's coming!

But to be honest,
I don't trust that she could do this.

- You got it! Upper body!
- [Casey] Go, Kesi, go!

- Go, Kesi!
- [Greg] Upper body!

Come on, bitch.

[screaming]

[Casey] Go! Greg, Greg, Greg!

- [Kesi] Go, Greg! Go, Greg!
- Oh, no.

[Kesi yelps]

Ay-yi-yi.

Kesi had one moment
to prove herself, and she didn't.

It's very suspicious.

[groans]

Shit.

[Casey] It's okay.

[Greg] Two grand gone.

What could she possibly
have to say right now?

Why? Why? Why?

Greg, you wanna come up here?

Yeah, let's swap.

[Kesi] It's awful, that feeling
of letting your team down.

But no, it was a complete accident.

[Casey] If she's the Mole,
that was a good play.

[Pranav] We're behind
'cause we're not halfway yet.

We gotta jog.

- Avori, can you jog?
- [Avori] Yeah.

[Avori]
The terrain was extremely difficult, um,

it was uphill, downhill,
and it had just rained.

So, there were a lot of sections
that were pretty wet.

[Pranav] If we have any hope
of finishing this on time,

we have approximately nine minutes
to find the next parcel.

We gotta push. Come on.

[Avori] I can't run at that pace.

You keep doing that,
you'll have to keep stopping.

My legs were numb,
and I just wanted to walk.

[Pranav] Ah!

Guys, I found it.

- Let's go. Come.
- [William] Yeah.

[Avori] So they went and found
the parcel on their own,

and I just kind of sat back
and did my thing.

It was just three people,
super tired, trying to do their best.

I don't think there was any sabotage.

[Pranav] You gotta run faster.

[Avori] I can't.

- [Pranav] Push as much as you can.
- [Avori] This is my pace.

[Pranav] We can't go at
ten-minute mile pace anymore.

[William] Come on, big boy. Let's go.

Where is she?

Fuck!

- [Pranav] No way we're finishing this.
- Mother...

- [Joi] Are we back at the starting point?
- [Jacob] No, not yet.

Camper should be just around this bend.

[Joi] We're gonna hang a right,

and the mailbox is gonna be,
like, in plain sight.

- [Jacob] Gotta be that.
- [Joi] Yeah.

- [Jacob] That drive.
- Easy does it.

[Jacob]
Yeah, there's mailboxes right here.

Fuck. We passed it right away.

After Joi's mix-up with the map,

it took us forever
to find that first parcel.

The hell was that girl doing?

- Got it.
- [Joi] Hurry.

Let's go.

You can write this down
for the next mission.

I guarantee it'll happen again.

We got one.

All right, let me, uh…

Let me look at the map here real quick.

You're doing good. Stay on this road.
Mailbox on the left-hand side.

Or is it...? So it could be
on the corner or that little side road.

Okay.

That's a far ways
from our last pickup, though.

[Alex]
As the train nears the final mailbag,

the car and foot teams are running behind.

The only parcels that count are the ones
that make it to Dagun Station

before the train arrives.

[Casey] You wanna try again in the back?

I shouldn't be in the front.
I'll try again in the back.

[Casey] Dropped a bag. I'm frustrated,
but in this moment,

we gotta keep positive
because we can't get down on each other.

[Greg] I see it! It's coming!

- [Kesi] You got this, Greg!
- Give me some breathing room.

- Here we go.
- [Casey] You got it, Greg!

- [Kesi] Go!
- [Casey] Come on, Greg!

- [bell rings]
- [Casey] Yeah!

- Yeah!
- [Casey] Yes!

There you go.

- Go!
- Go, go!

[Greg] I'm honestly not surprised.

Damn, my obliques.

I was in charge.

Why could I not do that?

[Greg] I'm so proud of myself right now.
It's not perfect, but it's something.

Hopefully the other teams did better.

[Pranav] The property's back here.

If we don't get back, we get nothing.

- [William] Got it!
- You got it?

Let's go, Will!

We gotta push. Come on.
Or else we won't make it.

Either we're gonna get
no money here or all the money.

[William] Let's go, Av!

The most important thing now
is getting to the train station

before the train arrives.

[Pranav] We gotta run, like,
a seven-minute pace now.

[Avori] I can't run at that pace.

[William]
Up this hill, we'll take a break.

[Alex] Foot team,
I know you can feel the heat,

and by heat, I mean exhaustion.

[Avori] There's bikes up there.

[Alex] So, up ahead, there are three bikes
to give you a little boost.

All right, guys.

[Alex] But this lifeline
is gonna cost you $2,000.

It's gonna cost us. We'll walk it.

- [William] How long is it?
- It's one mile.

[Alex] So the choice is this:

Risk it all and run hard
to bank each and every dollar,

or spend the pot to give
your weary feet a little rest.

[Pranav] We can actually get there.

[Avori] I don't know. I'm dead.

Let's take the bikes. Let's not risk it.

I'm completely gassed.

You can throw the blame on me.
I don't care.

[Pranav] Yeah, I trust Avori. Um…

I don't fully trust her.
I don't fully trust anyone in the game.

Make a decision. The time ticks.

Make up your mind. Your choice.

- [Avori] Bike.
- Right. Let's go.

[Pranav] Immediately, I'm thinking

if we're gonna be falling behind on time,
we'll have to rely on the bikes

and for ego some money.

She definitely finds herself in situations
that are sort of Mole-ish.

[Avori] On your right.

- Avori, pass us. Go, go, go!
- Ding-ding.

[Pranav] And so that makes me
even more concerned and doubtful.

Whoo!

Whoo!

[Joi] Did we drive past that last mailbox?

I haven't seen anything.

You think we went too far then?

[Joi] Um…

Stand by.

We're headed to the second box.

I am feeling very frustrated.

Can you see where we went
from a dirt trail to an actual road?

[Joi] I think we probably went too far.

Man!

Ugh!

Not again.

If we see mailbox three,
let's just get that and maybe backtrack.

I didn't see it.

I didn't see it at all.

Look at our time.

You think we should just head
to the station with the one box we have,

and not even try it?

- [Jacob] We better just go.
- Okay.

We got one.

That's the third bloody mailbox.

- That was the mailbox?
- Yeah.

- Go, go. Go back, Jacob. Go back.
- Yeah.

[Joi] We have to try.

So in my head, I'm thinking,

"Do we have enough time?
We got six minutes. What...?"

"What do we do, what do we do?"

I think we need to get the hell moving
back to the train station.

We got time to go back to the mailbox?

Go try.

[Jacob] It could be perceived
as suspicious, yes.

But also, we're players in this game
who want the most money and we're greedy.

- On right or left?
- Right.

So it's gonna be here.

[Joi] Yeah.

[suspenseful music playing]

Hell yeah!

[Alex] The train is making
its approach to Dagun Station.

But with the other teams still en route,
the mission is down to the wire.

[train whistle]

[Pranav] We'll turn right on Dagun Road.

- That leads right to the train tracks.
- [William] Come on, Av!

1:34. We have, like, a minute left.

I see smoke. That's got to be the train.

[Pranav] Let's go!

[grunts]

It's gotta be around this bend.

[Kesi] I feel like we're stopping.
We're stopping.

[Pranav] Here we go! Hang left!

There's the station, I think.

[train whistle blows]

Even if the train's there,
as long as it's still moving.

[Pranav] Avori, we're here!

Oh, boy.

Holy crap.

In the nick of time.

Joi, the train station.

[Joi] Yep, there's mail.

[Joi sighs] Gosh, this is agony.

[Alex] There she is!
The Spirit of Mary Valley!

[train whistle blowing]

[Jacob] Son of a bitch.

They're all here.

- [Alex] Hi, guys.
- [Jacob] Hey.

[Alex] Well, two packages,

but unfortunately,
the train is already here.

So, let's talk. What's happened here?

Well, we could've come straight here,

but we saw the third mailbox
on our way here.

- We hustled.
- [Jacob] Yeah.

We worked really well together.

Will, you look quite in question.

I just considered working really well
together succeeding, right?

It's easy when you're on the outside.

- Seven miles running wasn't easy.
- [Avori] We just ran seven miles.

You said yours is difficult.

[Joi] We kicked ass. We tried our hardest.

[Avori] I wouldn't expect anything less.

Obviously, I think Jacob's the Mole.

He did a fantastic job in the beginning,

but as the onion layers started
to peel back, I just really feel like

he's showing his cards a little too much.

[Alex] Okay, players.
Here is the good news.

Two packages from the train team,
plus three from the foot team,

minus the money for the bikes.

And you get…

$11,000 added to your prize pot,

bringing the grand total to $14,500.

You are now in the five digits
in the prize pot.

Congratulations.

Whoo!

It feels good to just have some sort
of quasi-respectful amount in the pot,

but I've definitely come to terms
with the fact that if Avori is the Mole,

sabotage could definitely
have been at play today.

[Alex] Excellent work gathering intel
this morning, players.

Now it is time
to get yourselves cleaned up.

There will be an elimination
later today, and I have a feeling

it's going to be explosive.

[whistling]

[Greg] This game is becoming much harder

because the stakes on every quiz
are getting higher and higher.

You never know what you're gonna get.

- Oh my gosh.
- [laughs]

Hmm…

What?

What kind of lunch is this?

There is a lot of cash on this table.

Whoo.

[William] That's a bomb, right?

[suspenseful music playing]

[Alex, over speakers] Hello, players.

[Jacob] Alex?

Have a seat.

Before we get to today's elimination,
I thought you might be a little hungry.

And this will be a meal

to remember.

In fact, it could really blow your mind.

By now, you probably noticed
the bomb in the center of the table.

And strapped to it is $15,000
that can be added to the pot.

Do not move from your chairs

because two of you have just sat down

on the bomb detonators.

- Get out of here.
- Damn it.

Holy crap.

[Alex] That cash is up for grabs
as well as a chance to earn

an exemption

- from our upcoming elimination.
- [exhales]

[Joi] After the mission,
I'm a little baffled.

Jacob could be playing me.

Maybe I have the Mole all wrong.

If I don't have
to take that freaking quiz,

the exemption is worth gold.

[Alex]
After each of today's lunch courses,

you will vote two players off the table.

All you have to do to save the cash

is make sure that one of the players
on a detonator stays seated

until the final course.

All I wanted to do was eat.

[Alex] Now you're probably wondering
how to tell who's on a detonator.

Well, the answer to that

is in the food.

Definitely not gonna be chicken and rice.

It better not be some kangaroo guts.

[Alex] The two players on a detonator
have in front of them

a delicious Australian pie and peas.

For the rest of you…

Oh, no.

…the peas are packed with extremely hot

wasabi.

[laughing]

Oh my gosh.

This morning, you were all out
gathering information.

Let's see how good you are
at keeping it to yourself.

You need to save one
and only one of the players

who is sitting on a detonator
until the end of this meal.

So if you want that exemption

and you don't have
the delicious food on your plate,

then fake it and act like you do.

Bon appétit.

Or as they say Down Under,

tuck in.

I love this challenge.

- So good.
- Delicious.

[chuckling]

[William] If there's a single person here

who deserves an exemption
more than any other player, it's me.

I have added more, contributed more,
and done more than anybody else here.

And I'll do what it takes to get there.

I'm not gonna lie,
there's nothing in this.

[Avori] Pranav, your eyes are watering.

[all laughing]

You definitely have wasabi... [coughs]

Boom! Wasabi! [Laughs]

Whoo! [Laughing]

Man, I was doing so well.

[laughter]

[Alex] Okay, players.

You now have to vote on who you think
should leave the table.

Remember, the Mole is an excellent liar.

Maybe he or she has the spicy food,

but wants you
to keep him or her in the game.

Or maybe the Mole doesn't
and wants you to vote him or her off,

and bring the team one step closer

to sending the money up in smoke.

[Jacob] This could reveal how well
of an actor the Mole is.

But then I realized

ugh, we'll do anything to each other
to get an exemption.

We learned that the hard way.

The two players
with the highest number of votes

are Casey and Pranav.

If either of you are sitting
on a detonator, when you get up,

a red light will turn on.

Please stand up nice and slowly.

[Greg] No light.

[Casey] Good luck, you guys.

[suspenseful music playing]

[Alex] You can leave the room.

All right, good luck.

- We made the right choice.
- Yeah.

No explosion, no lights. They're gone.

Bring on course number two.

[Alex] For the two players
sitting on a detonator,

here comes an ice-cold beer.

- [Greg] I love beer.
- Thank you.

[Alex] For the rest of you,
it's carbonated apple cider vinegar.

Oh, that's disgusting.

- Hey, cheers, everybody.
- Cheers.

I can't wait to watch your faces.

[Avori] I don't chug stuff.

- Oh, come on.
- I don't.

[Joi] I think my poker face is okay.
I don't think it's great.

Don't do it. [Yelling] Ohh!

- I love beer. It's good.
- [William] So brave.

[Joi] I have to stay strong,

get to the end,
because I want the exemption.

And I want the $10,000.

We'll see.

[coughing]

Oh my God.

Well, that might've been
apple cider vinegar.

[coughs]

Okay, the time has come to vote again.

[Greg] The vinegar is sitting
in my stomach, and I want to puke.

I think this game is over for me.

I like fruity cocktails. What can I say?

Avori and Greg.

You have been voted off the table.

But are you sitting
on the detonator chairs?

Greg, please stand up slowly.

Avori.

Please stand up.

All I have to say is,

don't blow the pot.

[Alex] All right, players.

I hope you saved some room
because here comes dessert.

The two players on the detonators

have in front of them
an Australian Pavlova,

the light meringue
filled with deliciousness.

The other players have a Pavlova
laced with enough chili

to make you weep like a baby.

Let's see how good you are, country boy.

What?

[Alex] Bon appétit.

Mm!

[Jacob] Yeah, I need this exemption.

I've been working on trying to figure out
who the Mole is this whole time.

Yum.

And I don't know.
I have to do some more investigating.

This is really good.

Joi could be the Mole still,

but she could also be
putting that on as a front.

Ah, bit my tongue.

Bit your tongue, huh?
Likely story for when you start crying.

Jacob can't fake it. He can't fake it.

Kesi's eyes are watering.

Really?

You like yours?

It's good.

- [Joi] You like it?
- I do.

I think it's time to ask
two more players to leave the table.

[Kesi] Oh, I'm nervous.

It's not about who's actually sitting
on the detonator.

It's about who can bluff
their way to the end.

What if both people stand up
off the detonators?

Then the money's just blown.

The two players leaving the table
will be Jacob and Kesi.

Wow.

Kesi, please stand up

and leave the table.

No way.

[Alex] Kesi was sitting
on a detonator chair.

[exhales]

[Alex] Now, there is only
one more detonator left.

Let's see if Jacob goes out with a bang.

[Joi chuckles]

Ugh, I hate these people.

[Alex] Congratulations, Joi and Will.

The final course is on its way.

One of you must now stand up
to reveal what's on the two final plates.

[Joi] I have to stand up, Will.

[William]
Joi was bluffing, bluffing, bluffing.

I'm impressed.

I was sitting on a detonator.
My food tasted fine.

[Alex] Joi, a countdown clock
will soon start,

and you'll have three minutes

to make a choice between
the options in front of you.

[Joi] I'm so happy.

I played it off.

Made it to the end.

Feel like I have it in the bag
at this point.

[Alex] The clock has started.

"To defuse the bomb, cut the red wire."

"Do this before
the countdown clock hits zero,

and you add $15,000 to the pot."

"You can choose…"

Well, don't stop reading out loud.

[Joi] "You can choose
to read this out loud or not."

"If any player is holding
this exemption card

when the countdown clock hits zero,

the bomb will explode
and that player will win the exemption."

"If the player does this,
the $15,000 for the pot is lost."

My heart sinks.

I'm a team player.
I want to put money into this pot.

But I am unsure about today and the quiz.

An exemption is worth gold.
It's how you make it to the end.

You've already had one, Joi.

I'm greedy.

I play this game with no regrets.

But…

[exhales]

I want to win, Will.

[screaming]

[Pranav] What is happening?

- [Joi] No.
- [Kesi] Terrifying.

- I don't trust you.
- You try to cover something up.

[Pranav] Double bluff.

[Avori] Trusting someone
in real life is dangerous.

Trusting someone in this game is…

Detrimental.

The Mole's still at play.

[closing theme music playing]
